If you pull this rope and he breaks his neck and he dies, can we justify that? Do not intervene. >> Get on. >> STOP. GET ON MY WAY. GET OUT OF MY WAY. GET ON THE GROUND. GET ON THE GROUND. I'M GOING TO TASE YOU. >> After days of terrorizing a quiet Florida community, a nude man is back on the prowl. Concerned residents call for help, but they're prepared to do whatever it takes to catch him, even if it means taking matters into their own hands. >> I'm too old for this man. >> The following is based on official police records, and the footage has never been seen before until now. Please note that all persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. On the night of May 7th, 2025, after days of similar reports from the Pine Island Grove community in St. James City, Florida. Elderly resident Mark calls 911. >> 911. What is your emergency? >> Say we've got that um streaker or that nudest guy back in the park again. He just came by me in Pine Island Cove. >> So, what is suspicious about this guy? >> He's been breaking in places, trying to break in places, and he's goes around here naked. He's already gone into one lady's house twice. >> Okay. But did you see him naked? >> No, I did not. Okay. You know what? Forget it. I'm at the boat ramp right now, but I'm not going to be here long because I'm going to try and do some way of stopping him. >> Abruptly, Mark hangs up. Lee County dispatchers call back for more information, but Mark is finished talking. Instead, another resident continues the conversation. >> Yeah. Yeah. I just saw suspicious activity, too, and I live here, and I'm tired of this. You need to come do something about it. >> Right. So, we're going to I'm going to ask all of you now for your cooperation. Is this person white, black, Hispanic, or Asian? That way, we know who we're looking for. >> Let me ask you something. If it's dark at night and somebody on a bic, sir, you just gave me a piece of information we didn't know. So, he's on a bicycle. That is a big piece of information, right? That helps us to now start looking for somebody on a bicycle. Sir, we're just asking for everyone's cooperation to help. Thank you. >> A deputy arrives meeting with two residents, Jackie and Mark, who explained the suspected prowler is still nearby. >> Around the clubhouse that way, and I've got a rope up because he's fast on that bike. I chased him once and so I'm going to if I have to, I'm going to pull that rope across and stop him that way. Well, I wouldn't do that. Well, >> there's no other way of catching him. He's fast. There's no way. >> And I and I understand that, but I mean, like, >> how's the old saying go? Punishment needs to fit the crime. Causing harm to him. It's not going to be justified. You understand? >> Not be justified when he's running around in my backyard and people and they don't belong here. >> And he's already to one lady's house and got him. >> Well, do we know that for sure? It's got to be >> But that's But okay, but that's what I'm saying. It's like >> But you understand what I'm saying? I understand it's frustrating, but like >> it's it leave it to us to try to try to catch him. Is it frustrating? Yes. Is it the crime of the century, him running around naked? No. But if you pull this rope >> and he breaks his neck and he dies, can we justify that? >> Right. I got you. I got you. So, I'm I'm sympathizing with you. I'm just trying to protect you at the same time by going, "That's not a very bright idea." >> Jackie shares information about when and where he last saw the suspect. But Mark grows increasingly impatient. >> So tonight at probably 8:30. >> Mhm. >> Headquarters. >> People over there in that in that house. >> Mhm. >> They heard something. >> Then they saw him on a bicycle. Okay. And Mark saw >> and so I was riding around on my bicycle in here probably at >> I don't know maybe >> 8:30 or well it was later than 8:30. I'm riding my bicycle down towards catfish >> and I and I see this bicycle. >> I'm going to I'll put it this way. Let me try to drive around and try to locate him. >> Let me get the lights. He's going to be gone. Well, >> rather than speeding off, Mark waits for Jackie as the deputy warns them not to try to detain the man themselves, explaining they have no legal authority to do so. >> I know it's frustrating. >> If he's trespassing my house, I don't got no reason to hold for what all you did so far. >> Yes, I do. >> No, you don't. >> Yeah. If he's trespassing to my house, >> I can't hold him. >> Yes, I can. >> Are you going to listen to me or are you going to argue with me? Cuz I'm not >> I don't agree with you. >> Well, you don't have to agree with me. You don't have to like it. I don't have >> if somebody comes in my house >> if there he's we're not talking about if he comes in your house he's burglarizing but if if he's committing a crime inside what I'm telling you is if he comes onto your property none of us can hold him if he if basically I show up and he walks off I cannot run his I cannot run him down tackle him and do anything I can't do it >> he he can go bye-bye >> and so what I'm trying to tell you guys is I do not intervene >> he's right now >> right now where is that You know where he is? Show him where he is. Follow him. He's there right now. >> Mark and Jackie speed off in the golf cart with the deputy close behind. They race toward a home where multiple residents have the suspect cornered in a lai. >> Hey officer, hurry up. Hurry up. Back off and get down. >> Hurry up. Get sit down. Sit down. Get down. Watch out. I I get it. Back off. Back off. Hey, sheriff's office. GET ON THE GROUND. GET ON THE GROUND. GET ON THE GROUND. GET ON THE GROUND AND STOP. HEY, STOP. HELP. GET ON THE GROUND. BACK UP. >> YOU GOT on the ground. PLEASE GET ON THE GROUND. GET ON THE GROUND. GET ON THE GROUND. I'M GOING TO TASE YOU. >> GET ON. STOP. GET ON MY WAY. GET OUT OF MY WAY. >> Lake County, I'm 31 on foot on him. >> Lake County, I'm going to stop my foot pursuit. He's >> He's He's got a He's a He was a good ways ahead of me. >> Did he get away? >> Yeah. I'm going to say Stay Stay right there cuz I'm going to stand by for a track. I'm not going to keep. He got I got twice the amount of gear on. He's all hyped up. He started getting distance, running between things. I'm going to get him with a track. >> Hit him with a what? >> A canine track or something. >> Okay. >> But minutes later, his pursuit of the suspect takes a shocking turn. >> Hey, we got him over here. >> Do we move? Give me 33 again. I got some of the people in the neighborhood have caught him. >> I have 33. >> He's going to take you to the hospital cuz you tried to hurt D. >> Well, I saw out here. Watch out. Watch out. He's going to cuff him, guys. We're not letting him up this time. >> Let him cuff him. >> Please. Please, you guys. >> Listen. >> No. >> Let give me your hand. >> I would cooperate. Give me your hand and I'll let you cooperate >> to the hospital. >> Give me I will take you to the hospital. Give me your hand now. >> You're lying to me. >> No, I'm not. Give me your hand. Give him your hand. Give me your hand. >> You're lying. >> You're lying. You're lying to me. >> Give me your hand. >> You're lying. >> You got it, sir. Not really. >> Once the handcuffs are on, everyone takes a moment to catch their breath. >> You can talk. You can breathe. >> Yes, it is. >> You can talk. I'm not on your back. >> I'm I'm >> I'm not putting any pressure on you. >> Oh, you were trying to kill me. No. >> Two more hostage. You would have filled it. >> Good job. >> Please. Please, you guys. I hear voice is in my head. >> Okay. Okay. >> You're going to get some help. Okay. You're going to get some help. >> 665. >> He'll give you some help. >> If you could have the next responding unit so I can put him in a vehicle. >> If you could have le control respond just to check him out. >> I'm too old for this. >> This alien's not >> seemingly concerned. One of the residents points out the suspect appears injured. >> He's got a cut on this demons. >> He must be wiped out here somewhere on your bike. >> He actually cut on his ribs. >> Yeah. Okay. >> Attack me cuz I'm a good person. >> Yeah. >> You're threatening to shoot me. >> I didn't threaten to shoot you. >> He did. >> Yes, he did. >> No, he didn't. We're all >> Yes, he did. >> We're all witnesses. >> No, you're not. >> There's only one person with a gun on them, and it ain't none of us. Why did you threaten the shoe? >> I wouldn't have ran a vehicle, >> guys. Ain't no such. >> No, don't talk. Don't worry. >> With help from the residents, the deputy rolls the man onto his side. >> 65 headquarters. >> Just advis control. >> Scene's going to be secure. >> The suspect is later identified as 30-year-old Janiro Reti, who detectives were actively attempting to locate. According to a Facebook post from the Lee County Sheriff's Office, he was arrested just six months earlier for loitering and prowling after allegedly running naked through an Iona neighborhood. The post also mentions a prior conviction in Montana for indecent exposure. Backup quickly arrives and gets caught up on the current situation. I got I got medical on the way. >> They apparently tackled him. He went down this road. >> I was going to stand by over there, but can we get him in the back of your car so EMS can check him out? Yeah. >> All right. >> Yeah. I don't It does not look like I got because he was running around the corner. It don't look like I got any connectivity on the taser. >> And that if you didn't slow him down that there was from this rock. >> Yeah, >> they'll get you, but you need to >> gentlemen. I appreciate the assistance, but >> partner, we're out of here. >> In the future Oh, hold on. I'm going to need y'all to stand by. But in the future, I would recommend you leave it dust because I don't know if he had a knife or anything like that. Y'all putting yourself in danger. >> No, I knew he didn't have anything. >> Well, but I wouldn't chance it. >> Jiro is placed in the back seat of a police cruiser and a sergeant checks on Deputy Elgger who made the arrest. >> Injured. You injured anywhere? >> No. Other than Pride, I got out. I got outed by [laughter] >> No one to blame but yourself. I tried to I tried to work smarter and they were dead set on working harder. Of course, it's not fair. They had a golf cart. >> According to police records, Janiro caused roughly $300 worth of damage to the lenai. The homeowner Pat ultimately decided to press charges. Reports also state that residents Mark and Dan, as well as Deputy Olegger, were each battered by Janeiro. While Mark requested the battery charges be pursued, Dan and Deputy Ellegger declined to press charges. 30-year-old Janiro Reti was originally charged with misdemeanor probation violation, as well as six felonies, including battery, burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, resisting an officer without violence, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernelia, and criminal mischief over $200. Prosecutors later dropped two felony counts, reducing the remaining charges to misdemeanors. After failing to appear at a hearing on August 14th, 2025, a bench warrant was issued, and he was arrested again on October 1st, 2025. He's being held without bond, and the case is still ongoing.
