These shoplifterss didn't plan for a surprise ending, but the cops did. Here are four cases when cops surprise the out of Walmart shoplifterss in the act. Number four, woman caught in the act at Walmart. She tries to talk her way out anyway. On June 8th, 2025, officers responded to a call from Walmart staff who had caught suspected shoplifterss and were waiting for law enforcement to step in. This is what unfolded next. We're both on clothes so far. >> So, she's purposely not doing any of the clothes. I'll let you show you. [clears throat] >> Okay. All the stuff that you can keep one. >> Thank you. I didn't know that, >> man. So, they are scanning all the food though. >> Yeah. So, this is the shirt and shorts that she does. This is just an very It's That's what it all looks like, by the way. And then [clears throat] she'll do it again with the clothes here. There's gonna be some grocery items on there, but that's because she's >> But it's just her. She got it. >> Like, did that not miss game? >> It didn't. It It Some of it has been >> some. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> But then others like it was paused and she's just >> like just >> and then and then when she was going to go scan another grocery item, that's when she asked for help. But >> it's just her doing everything. >> Yeah. Dude, I want to say this lady used to work here, but I'm not totally sure. I think she's going to try and leave. Yeah, >> they're leaving with the whole without paying anything. >> Look, she's yelling at them >> for what? >> Who's yelling? >> The This lady looks like she's yelling at them. >> You didn't pay for her? >> I don't know. I can't tell. >> So, she hasn't pay for anything. >> She has Yeah, it was declined. I got 400 something on the top of the clothes that are under range. >> I think she is going to keep dropping. >> Oh my god. >> She She already yelling. >> I think she's yelling at the register. >> They're right there in the store. >> Oh, she got a receipt. >> You guys stop her. All right, here they come. Get up. Get ready. >> Why can't you guys >> No, you should do it. You should get yelled at. >> G. Hey dog. >> The surveillance footage lays out the crime step by step. Armed with that evidence, the officers proceed to confront the suspects face to face. >> Watch them turn back around. Watch them turn back around. Stop them yet. >> Is she still in the bathroom? >> Oh, yeah. >> Man, I bet they come out this way. We can go back to office. >> Yeah, >> you want to? Don't matter me. You're D2. You call the shots. >> We'll go back to the office. >> You know why I'm here? Did you stop him? >> Yeah, he is. I'm sorry. >> Hello. Can you step in there? >> Okay. >> You go in there and take a seat on the bench. >> You got your ID on you, ma'am. >> Of course. >> I didn't realize it was nothing for you that was unpaid for, honestly. >> All right, ma'am. Are you still living on Oxford? >> No, I'm leaving March. Okay, I'll grab that new address from here. >> All right, I got to read you something. All right, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court or in other proceedings. You have the right to a lawyer for advice before we ask you any questions and to have him present during questioning. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be appointed for you, free of any cost to you before any questions if you wish. >> Okay. >> You understand that right? >> Of course. With those rights of mind, do you wish to speak with me? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, what's going on today? I didn't understand that I didn't pay for anything that I bought. I got three kids in me. So if something wasn't unskinned, I it was not to my knowledge. >> Okay. So I've been in here for a while and I've been watching. So I saw what you did with the clothes, >> the crab legs and stuff like that. Okay. >> Okay. >> So I saw everything, right? >> Okay, that's cool. I have I have money. >> Okay. So you scan those items up. I scanned the clothes. >> No, you didn't. >> I did. >> I watched you. No, you did not. >> Okay. >> I just went right over. >> It's not even an argument. >> Okay. >> It's not an argument. >> Is money tight or >> H >> is money tight or what's >> Yeah, money is tight for everybody. Money is tight for everybody. But >> yeah, no clothes or scam. What's the reason for that? Despite the evidence, the suspect tries to wiggle out of trouble only to have each attempt knocked down by the officers. >> Like I scanned it. My kids were right there. Monte, did you not see me scanning? He was right next to me scanning. >> Okay. You see the cameras? We're going to go back and look what you did with the t-shirt. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, you see how you don't attempt that at all? That's what kept asking the birthday. >> I don't What? >> You didn't attempt to scan the t-shirt. >> Where's the t-shirt at? right here. I'll show you again. So, you see you take the bag and then you take that, swipe it right over. You don't have to stand that long. >> What? Those t-shirts are black things. >> Yep. >> Okay. >> So, all this stuff right here, all this clothes, same way. >> Okay. So, why is all the clothes just so happen to not be scammed? >> I'm not going to lie to you. >> I'm not. >> You're not going to lie to me? >> No, I'm not. >> You got it. >> You got it, police officer. You got it. I'm not going to argue with you about it. Not we're not here to try and you in any way. It's man the fact that we've been watching you while you were standing. >> I'm not I honestly felt like I was right next to you. >> I understand that you feel like you stand there, >> but all the clothes items. >> Okay. And I can still pay for them honestly. >> So how Walmart does it? If it's not scanned and you walk past the final point of sale, which you did, they're not allowing you to purchase that. >> Okay, >> that's just their policy. That's how they do it. >> Okay, that's true. But >> we're here constantly every day. So, >> when her excuses fall flat, she switches tactics, pointing the finger at someone no one expected. >> I've came to the store multiple times >> and I've heard that, but that doesn't change it. I understand. I'm I'm not honestly I'm not trying to argue with you. I'm not trying to argue with you. I thought I scanned them. I have three kids. My daughter is constantly talking to me. You can see that throughout the video. If you open the video up louder, if you open it up wider, you can see her saying, "Mommy, mommy, mommy." >> So, she was just saying, "Mommy, mommy, mommy." Every time it was closed. >> Okay. >> Thank you, Anthony. I I feel like you're you're trying to justify some [ __ ] >> I [clears throat] mean, I just look what it looks like. It's all >> I understand. I understand. I understand that. >> But I feel like I feel like you're trying to justify some. >> I just told you I can pay for the clothes. >> Well, you should have done that when you had the opportunity. >> So, >> do you have your receipt? >> My mom say receipt. >> So, ma'am, we're all human. I understand that we all make mistakes. It happens. >> And that's what I'm trying to say. Like I'm not I'm not done. >> One or two items. Completely understand. Like I don't think they've gone through all the items yet. But when I look at a pile like that, I don't consider that an accidental thing. >> Mhm. >> Nobody accidentally forgets to scan 10 plus items. That's just not realistic or logical in any way, shape, or form. Mhm. >> So what we're trying to say is if you came here with the intention I understand you have multiple children. I get it. It's not easy raising one. I couldn't imagine raising more than one. It's a lot. I understand that. >> You're going. >> Yeah. So I understand that. After giving the suspect some advice about her choices, the officers turned to the last task on their list, which is recovering the stolen merchandise. You >> should be on arrest, sir. >> So, what I'm giving you is a nose to appear. So, technically, you're under arrest just without going to jail. So, you'll have a court date. Okay. This back for you. Okay. So, 9:00 a.m. Tasel County Courthouse in Pein July 15th. Okay. You'll have to show up for that. If not, they'll issue you a warrant. Okay. All right. And so I got to search your bag. Since you are technically gun arrest, I got to search you. I'll just search it. Hand it to me. >> I'll give you my bag. Okay. >> All right. Well, they're done with you, so you guys are free to go. Okay. >> All right. Thank you. >> Yep. >> Can I have my receipt that you need that for for confiscation or whatever? Thank you. Let's go. Hold on. In the end, the store got its $160 worth of merchandise back and the suspect walked away with a misdemeanor retail theft charge on a record. Number three, she tried to sneak out with the goods, but police had been watching the whole time. In this case, officers are called to Walmart after loss prevention spotted a woman stuffing items into her bag. Upon arrival, the officers headed straight to the security room, observing the woman in the act. >> She do what now? She concealed liquor and empt she put pregnancy test in her bag and then went in the bathroom and used it. >> Oh. >> Came out. >> Went to the bathroom and used it. >> Yeah. >> Where's she at now? Still the bathroom. >> We assume that's what she did with that. But no, she's towards the spot now. >> What she look like? Uh there's a white girl with a brown jacket and like >> there she is. Yeah. >> What uh liquor >> she put in a bag? >> Yeah, that's how she scanned. Yeah, she's got baby clothes and things and stuff in her. >> Yeah, dude. I went to Casey's now found her like >> right where the call originated from. >> Yep. >> All right. All right. You guys going? Anyone wants to just >> ma'am? Stop. >> Stop right now. >> What? >> Behind your back. >> What? >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Stop resisting. >> I'm not resisting. >> Then relax and put your hand behind your back. >> I'm not resisting. Can I put this? >> Stop moving your arm. >> Stop. You're going to get charged with resisting. >> I'm not resisting. I'm just >> Yes, you are. Put >> that is literally the definition of resisting. I'm >> just trying No, I'm sorry. I'm just trying to put this in my pocket. Could I put my my wallet or my card in my pocket? >> No, we need to cuff you. So, just chill out. >> Stop moving. Stop pulling away. >> I'm not pulling away. >> You were. >> I'm not. I get my phone. >> No, don't reach for anything. >> What are we doing here? >> You got a key? >> Yeah, I need it. >> All right. Go back in here. Now handcuffed and seated in the security office with a stolen merchandise laid out. The woman listens as the officer advises her of her rights. >> All right. So before anything else goes further after I have to read you this. Go ahead and sit down. It's going to be a minute. Take a seat. >> I'm okay. >> Okay. Before we ask any questions, it's my duty to advise you of your rights. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court or in other proceedings. You have the right to a lawyer for advice before we ask you any questions for any questioning if you wish. Do you understand those? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> What is going on today? For what? >> My daughter. >> Okay. How old's your daughter? >> 10 bucks. >> What were you getting for? >> Okay. So, what's in this bag? >> In my bag. >> Okay. So, then where is the formula and everything else? Why is it in your other bag? >> Because I'm an idiot. >> Did you steal it? I mean, >> I mean, typically when people shop, they put items in bags such as this. So, did you steal it or did you not? >> I was trying to. I didn't see it, obviously. >> Well, you did. >> The instant you walk past the final point of sale, which in this case would be that selfch checkckout register, that's retail theft. So, you don't have to leave the building. >> So, did you steal? I mean, we've already cut to the chase. It's in a bag that's obviously not a normal bag items are placed in. They're not meant to be comfortable. And that's cutting off my circulation. >> And when we were saying stop, stop, most people would say, "Oh, what's going on? You just tried to ignore us." So, did you steal or not? I mean, we've already gone this far. I need you to verbally tell me yes or no. >> Well, you already know. >> You what? >> So, you already know. So, >> well, I'd appreciate it if you've been honest with me up to this point. Why don't we just cut to the chase? Yep. To what? >> You got items in here that aren't paid for, correct? >> I do. Yeah. >> Yep. To what? >> What? >> You said So, you stole Okay. Can I see CCTV footage, please? >> So, the first one is her concealing this pregnancy test. >> See a little white box, >> and then it disappears when she's in her bag. >> Gotcha. and then uh she'll conceal the other items. >> The evidence is right there on the screen, but rather than owning up to what she took, she stays quiet and leaves the officers to sort through the stolen merchandise on their own. >> So, what all is in the bag that's not paid for, ma'am? What all in the bag that's not paid for? >> I don't know. Nothing went in my small pocket, but I have a heart in there. >> Well, I'm not talking about the small pocket. I'm talking about the book bag. So, you don't know what's in there? >> Well, I just said I have a cart in there and I have food in there. >> Okay. Did you pay for the food? >> Yes, I brought from my house. >> Okay. Are there going to be pregnancy tests or brought this from your house? >> Okay. So, then how did the clothes, the iPhone case, and the other items get in there? They disappeared. >> Hey babe, what's up? >> Okay. >> I'll call you after. >> Is your ID in this bag? Cuz I need that. >> No, don't have a room. >> Okay. What's your name? And if you lie to me about your name, I won't charge you with obstructing. Where's that at? >> On my phone. >> Okay. Can you unlock it and >> give me that screen? >> Let me know. I can just tell you. >> So, we we got two options here. [clears throat] >> Be able to confirm your identity. >> I'm still ID. >> Will you just try to play the game? >> Can you grab it up? >> You can grab it. >> I I can't. >> I can't feel my wrist. It's like >> they're not meant to be comfortable. I know, but it's like >> you were pulling away from us. So, >> I wasn't trying to >> Do you have any idea >> valuewise what at all? >> I'm assuming obviously under >> Okay. >> I don't know. I can pay for it. >> I don't think she has anything else. >> Okay. Was this in your bag? >> Yes. I got that like 3 days ago. >> Okay. Where was your bag at when you drove here? >> In my car. >> Like where at in your car though? In >> the back seat. Okay. So, I will address this later. >> Now, the officers are focused on one key question. Was this planned from the start? Depending on how she answers, her charges could get a lot more serious. >> If that's interesting, >> how'd you get here then? >> Um, my friends, >> your friends just dropped you off and they're in the parking lot or they're >> in the parking lot. >> Okay. Why didn't they come in and shop with you? >> They didn't want to. >> Okay. So, if I go out and talk to them, are they going to tell me that you told them something along the lines of, "Hey, drop me off. I'm gonna take so and so items and then come back." >> I didn't I didn't plan on stealing anything. >> Yeah. Well, that's a pretty fair amount of items to accidentally scan. >> Yeah, I know. >> So, okay. So, I'm going to explain this to you. I'm going to have you sign it once you're out of cops. Okay. So, you're getting issued an NTA for the offense of retail theft. >> So, you're going to have a mandatory court date on July 15th at 9:00 a.m. Okay. >> Nope. Taswell County and peacin. >> Okay. >> So, if you don't go to that, they're probably going to issue a warrant. I'm cutting you a massive break because you're 20. >> I could also do the resisting. I could also do an ordinance violation >> for the possession of the >> I didn't even know that thing. >> You have to be 21. It's like alcohol. So, I mean, you have to be 20 to use it. >> I know. It's just it helps my mental issues. That's why >> I got you. Do you have a Are you prescribed it? Do you have a medical card? But no, but >> instead of giving you all these other ordinance violations and resisting charge, I'm just going to take that because you're not allowed to have it. You're still going to have this court date, but in the future, just don't. If somebody says stop and it's the police, you better stop. We don't just do that to random people. We always have a reason. >> Since this is her first time being caught, the officers choose not to take her into custody. But that doesn't mean she's walking away clean. >> All right, ma'am. So, I got to take that picture of you I was telling you about. >> All right. I'm doing your left hand first. >> Okay. >> Once this comes off, you're putting your left hand on top of your head. >> Okay. Can I put my card in my pocket? >> Yeah. All right. So, this court date that I was telling you about, I need you to sign right here. You're not admitting guilt. That's just saying that I read this and issued this to you. Okay. So, you're going to sign right there and then put your most current phone number. Did they explain the trespass already? >> Yep. >> Does that make sense? >> Okay. You guys get a picture? I need a picture as well. >> I got one, Trev. >> Oh, you did? >> Yep. >> I got pictures of everything else. >> Okay, cool. >> All right, ma'am. Do you have any questions for us? >> Hang on. You're not free to go yet. I got to give you this. >> Your friends are out there waiting for you. >> White one's yours. Make sure you go to court. You're going to get one. >> Would you guys? >> She hasn't got one, right? All right. If you have any questions, you're free to go. >> Have a better day. The woman was later charged with retail theft. She was issued a notice to appear in court and was released from the scene. Number two, cops track down group behind bold receipt scam at checkout. On May 17th, 2025, officers were called to a local Walmart after staff reported a group trying to walk out with merchandise using a receipt scam. Here's what happened when police stepped in. Go, man. >> Thank you. [music] >> The van that she was in also just left. >> Yeah, she was a Feed America band. >> Oh, what? >> It was a Feed America like little man. So, she was with two other people. They both se two guys selected the same things. One paid for the items, handed the receipt off to her. She came back in, handed it to the other guy, and then tried to walk out with all this. So, while we had her in here, she pulled the >> Which way did the van go? >> What? >> Which way did the van go? >> Feed America van. You >> 753 to 7:39. >> Should be a white Feed America van that possibly just left. involved. >> This has a spider on it. Anyway, >> do you have an ID with you? >> No, I just gave her my name. >> Okay. >> What's your first name? >> I a ye s ha. >> Mhm. >> Middle initial? >> M. >> Last name? >> Simpson. >> Simpson. >> Mhm. >> All right. So, right now you're being detained for retail theft. Okay. >> I'm getting a ticket. >> What's that? >> Ticket. Depends. What kind of criminal history do you have? >> Oh, I don't have one. >> Have you ever been arrested before? >> Uh, long long long time ago. >> Long time ago. Okay. >> Inside the security room, one suspect sits in custody while the employees lay out a step-by-step explanation of what just happened on the sales floor. >> They purchased stuff. >> So, they purchased the four items. Oh, sorry. That were on the other seat. So they a man came in, purchased these four items. Okay. >> Walked out to this white van. Yep. >> Gave her the receipt. >> Okay. >> She came in and met another man that had >> already in here >> that was shopping also that m that had the same exact items plus more >> and then she tried to walk out >> but >> with that receipt that was already paid for by the guy that went outside. >> Yes. But this is now duplicates of what was already outside. >> Okay. >> Plus more. So this those four items were already 440. So everything else on top of that will be over 500. >> Yeah, cuz he had a he stuffed a bunch of fishing stuff in that. >> Oh, he had stuff in there already. >> We So the guy concealed but she walked out. >> Yeah. >> The guy that was already inside when she came back. >> He There was two men. >> Okay. >> So like on here. So if you watch that. >> So how are you saying it's over 500 again? >> Cuz these four items that were on the initial receipt were already 440. So there was these items plus even more. >> They didn't pay for those. >> What she walked out with? >> Okay. >> No. So the cart that she tried to walk out with had this plus more. >> Oh, plus more. Okay. >> Cuz it was like they were going to >> Oh, she's getting that info right now. >> Yeah. >> Okay. I see what you're saying. I see what you're saying. >> Her trying to walk out to show a receipt that was paid for. But >> Okay. The first set of things were the seconds. I was not. >> All right. So, we're waiting to come for her to come back with >> the actual first. >> Okay. >> All right. Can I just grab your phone and that napkin I'm going to put over here on the table. >> From the staff's account, officers learned there were others involved who slipped out of the store earlier. It doesn't take long, however, before those missing suspects make contact. >> Oh, this guy call. >> Someone come back. >> Hello. Yeah, I'm uh in here. They uh saying that um they seen you pay for something and I came in with the receipt. So um yeah, they saying um that they seen you stuff stuff or something in the uh what was that in in the bag or something. So and I was walking out with the cart. You ask for a plate. >> Hey firm, I just got >> what? >> Robert Zebra 11108. Robert Zebra 11108. >> You say what? >> What? >> Hello? >> Yeah. >> Tell me to come back. It was 713. >> H 73. >> And oh, they said the uh price came up to uh $713. >> I don't I don't know. They saying it's over $500 or whatever. >> No, I'm sitting right here in the office. >> Are they coming back or what? >> I'm assuming they're leave you high and dry. Oh, there it is. All right, just stand up for me and face the wall be placed in hand right now. Okay. >> You got anything uh Anna you need to know about? >> No. >> All right. Don't reach for anything. >> Anything that's going to poke or prick me or anything? >> Uh-uh. >> Okay. >> Even after giving the others a fair chance to return, the officers are met with refusal. With no cooperation coming, they begin documenting the stolen merchandise instead. >> This cart right here. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Um there's a bag of stuff that was concealed in this that did not come in there. >> So it was uh >> all that stuff. >> All this for fishing. >> All right. Cool. >> Um Mountain Dew down here. These a little Mountain Dew little guy. So still not paid for >> these bowls, too. >> Yeah. >> That's still a return. >> Still a security bag, though. Okay. >> It doesn't take long before another officer on patrol recognizes the suspect's car. Moments later, he's walking up to their window. >> Hey guys, how are you? >> I'm Officer Clemens, Germantown Police. Are Did you guys just come from Walmart? >> How many people? What's that? >> Menards. >> Menards. Okay. Were you at Walmart earlier? Yeah. >> You missing a a person? >> No. >> You're not? >> Okay. Was it just you guys? >> You aren't with female or another male or anything? >> No, sir. >> Okay. Um Yeah, cuz they reported the theft and we're out with I think another individual. I think somebody else is still there and they said that this van was involved. So, that's why I'm stopping you. Just seeing what's really going on here. You guys aren't necessarily in trouble if somebody's still there, but I need to find out what's really going on. So, cut the Did you I mean you got groceries it looks like. Did you buy them at Walmart or what? >> No, this the uh >> Salvation Army. You uh do it for church. >> Okay. Yeah, that's fine. But were you guys at Walmart or not? >> No, we do. I do. >> Sure. >> I'll take a look at your ID. >> 60°. >> Okay. Okay. Do you have an ID on you, boss? >> Sure. >> You guys, where you guys headed right now? >> Back to the work. to do work or you just going home for the day? >> Okay. >> Okay. All right. So, you guys are saying that you were never at Walmart and you're not involved at all? >> I'm not doing >> We dropped her off. >> Okay. All right. No, no issue. She's She's the one If she's the one that's stealing, >> then it's on her. I don't really As long as they say that you guys weren't stealing. I just need to We need to figure out what's going on. >> All right. Just give me a second, guys. Okay. You >> good here? Yeah, I think so. Do you want to How do you want to >> I just want I want Price. >> Yeah, I understand. I got an idea. I'll just finish off here. They He said that they just dropped the chick off. They denied it at first, but just confirm whether or not they were stealing. >> The fleeing suspects are no longer just a name over the radio. Face to face. Officers now ask them to explain their role in the scheme. >> All right, Penny. So, I mean, my partner's over there talking to the girl and they watch the camera. Um, you can turn around and face me once. Um, I'm not here to give you a hard time. All right? I I give people the benefit of the doubt. That's why you're not in custody. You've been decent with me up until this point. Okay? I just need you to be straight. All right? >> So, we saw the receipt thing where your your buddy bought other stuff. >> She grabbed a receipt, came back in with you, and you walked out with the stuff. Does that sound right? >> No, that I didn't have nothing to do with that. >> Walmart is literally looking at the video right now. saying I walked out with the stuff >> with the Well, your the girl had the receipt and brought it back into the store and you had a bunch of stuff with you. >> Yeah, I was I had the stuff that we had, you know, purchased. She had the stuff. I don't know what extra that she did, but >> right, >> you know, she had the stuff for the receipt. I don't know whatever extra she did. I don't know. >> How is she related to all this? What's her role here? Uh, she's just, you know, a friend and, you know, she she post, you know, grabbing stuff and, you know, I didn't know that she if she did anything extra. I don't know. >> Does she work with you guys or she's just along for the ride? >> No, she just was riding with us. You know, that's a friend of ours. >> Okay. All right. So, what did you guys get from Walmart then that cost $700? It was just a fishing pole and a bag, fishing bag and uh I think a smoothie. >> Okay. And is all that stuff in here yet? >> No. >> Where is it at? >> It's with her. She's She was in the store and stuff. I don't know what she did extra. I don't know. >> Okay. So, what's in the back of this van? Just the food stuff. >> Just the food stuff. >> All right. I'm going to look. Okay. This is a fishing poles and stuff he bought, right, boss? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Is there like a fishing bag or something somewhere? Like >> right here. >> According to him, he had no part in the theft. According to the receipts, video, and staff. That's hard to believe. >> What? >> Right there. >> In this? >> Yeah. >> Can you help? Can I? I'm going to grab it. Get out. >> Oh, it's okay, folks. Thank you for being decent with us. Okay. What did uh did you guys buy all this here or is this all separate? >> That's this this from >> Okay. What about these boxes? >> That's Salvation Army. >> What about this stuff? >> That's we just bought >> this is just bought this. Got it. Okay. >> All right, Benny. So, my partner's still reviewing the cameras. Um you guys were clearly all in cahoots. You guys are passing receipts off, passing carts off. It sounds like you're both concealing some stuff in the bag that she's got there. >> No, she she was with She was I didn't say she wasn't with us. She was with us and >> she was supposed to be getting getting the stuff, >> right? >> Cuz he's saying that he doesn't know what she was doing. >> She definitely did not conceal it. >> Yeah, >> she definitely did not conceal it. >> She was the He literally got the cart in grocery and was only in grocery with the cart. He was within the fishing sporting event with the cart. He passed the cart to her in grocery and then she tried walking out of the store with the cart. Just do me a favor. Face the spot for me. After taking the fleeing suspects into custody, the officers return to the one still inside the store and discover something that makes her look even worse.
