These folks thought no one was watching, but they couldn't have picked a worse time to steal. Here are five cases when thieves robbed the wrong store. Number five, when one second you're shoplifting and the next you're running from horses. On March 20th, 2024, Albuquerque officers responded to a shoplifting call involving a man who grabbed merchandise and boldly walked out without paying, ignoring the fact that he'd been seen. What he didn't know was that officers had already set the stage for a very unconventional takedown. >> Did he still stop? You're being detained. Albuquerque police. >> Stop. You're being detained. >> Stop. Albuquerque police. You are being detained. >> Stop. >> Stop. You're being detained. >> Stop. >> Albuquerque police. Stop. Stop. >> You need to stop or force will be used against you. >> You understand me? >> Get on the ground. >> Uhhuh. Get on the ground. Come on. Get on the ground. You're being detained. >> Get out of the road. >> Get out of the road. >> You are not free to leave. You understand? force will be used against >> here. Get on the ground now. I'm going to use slice against you. Get on the ground. >> You are not free to leave. Albuquerque police do not move. 1531 PD. We have one detained. He barely made it a few steps before the mounted unit moved in. Between the eyewitness accounts and the surveillance footage, his chances of talking his way out are slim. >> 4 1531 1532. >> I'll stay right here. There you go. >> Be quiet. >> Yeah, he took off from me, JD, when he saw me. And uh so and then they they verbally told me that he had just shoplifted when I came around the front. So, >> how's your feet? >> What happened? >> A customer says that he has actually a key to our lock locking boxes and >> he was stuffing his pockets on the way out. Okay. So, he was in the store shoplifting on top of that. >> Yes. And he has a key. >> Okay. >> And those are universal keys. They open all the lock boxes up >> for the outside like the merchandise on the outside. >> Yeah. >> Okay. We'll figure that out. >> Anyways, just a double. >> No, I appreciate you. Yeah. And then for the shoplifting, I'm going to use you. Is that okay? >> Yeah, that's okay. >> Okay. And you saw him shoplifting? >> Yeah, all of us did. >> Okay. And what was he doing inside the store? >> Just stuffing his pockets, getting as much as he could. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Go back. >> Thank you. >> We'll retrieve all your items. Okay. And then if you don't mind, because we're going to charge him with shoplifting. If you can just uh kind of get me a receipt after the fact. Are you willing to prosecute? >> And I'm pretty sure we have cameras, too. >> Okay. So, if you can work on those cameras for me, that'd be great. Um and then that way we can get it for the lock boxes and we'll go from there. Okay. >> All righty. Thank you. I appreciate it. >> And when we're done, I'll I'll probably need a receipt of everything. Okay. >> Okay. Yeah. Uh just let me know. >> Okay. >> Thank you. While one officer confirms the man's details, the other takes a moment to walk him through what's about to happen. >> Um, okay. >> So, he shoplifted for sure inside the store. He has it all right there. Um, so you are under arrest for shoplifting. You are positively identified by an employee of the business. All right. >> Yeah, she grabbed that. So, you are under arrest. You are not free to leave for shoplifting and then eluding and evading police. Understand? So, he is under arrest for sure for shoplifting and deluding and evading from Chuck. Um, if you want to call Mike and just let him know cuz he'll have to review. Do you have any weapons on you? You're going to be searched pursuing to an arrest. Okay. Stand up. Stand up. You can do it. Come on. You ran just fine from us. One, two, three, go. >> Do you have anything sharp on you that's going to poke me, stab me? >> No. >> You sure? Pick your head up. She's going to get a receipt for everything. Yeah. You said that he possibly has keys. >> Yeah, that's what we're looking for. >> It's surprising just how much he managed to stuff into his pockets. But what's even more shocking is that he's still trying to downplay the situation, insisting he never tried to run. The officers shut that down fast. >> Yeah. You didn't stop. You were told to stop by a police officer. >> You ran in the middle of the street. >> No, you didn't. It's all on camera, bro. >> Yes. have anything sharp in here? >> No. >> Okay. All right. >> Here's your money. I'm going to put your money right there. Okay. >> He goes, "She didn't log it as a chase." I saying, "I don't care. It was a chase." >> So, I'm sure. >> Do you have shorts on or just boxers? Follow me. >> No. >> Yeah. >> All your chains up there. >> They had all stepped outside. I was like, >> you're going to be charged for just so you know. >> Get a receipt. >> Cross your legs in front of you. I don't know. When all was said and done, the man was charged with shoplifting and fleeing or evading a police officer. Number four, man learns the hard way that Shopright's anti- theft tech doesn't miss. This next case takes us to Hoboken, New Jersey, where officers were called to a shop after a man allegedly tried to walk out with a cart of unpaid merchandise. What he didn't realize was that loss prevention had eyes on him the entire time and they were ready when the suspect made his move. The staff stepped in to intercept him at the exit. And here's what followed when the police finally arrived. >> What's going on, boss? >> Hey, what's up, man? How you doing? >> All right. >> So, what's going on? >> So, we stopped this guy. Yeah. He's actually he actually popped up on our face first system >> so I mean first time I've seen him here but looking into the system he's actually been in the store more than once >> on the 17 then on the 10th >> so he basically just walked out with the car without paying anything >> today was 88. I haven't checked the other times for the two days. I was looking now. I believe they had the for 215 on spots for New Jersey. >> Uh-huh. >> And they actually filed that lease report over there. You got to wait over there. You got them at John Doe. But you know >> Okay. But the the only incident here is today. >> Today. And I guess whatever the 10th and 17th I have to just look at those videos. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> And you you guys want to pursue a complaint or you just want to bann? >> Yeah. Yeah. All right. Can you pull up the video? >> Sure. >> Is Is this the receipt for the stuff? >> Yeah, it was a 84. >> Did you come in with anything? Did you come in with anything else? No. >> No books or anything like that? Right. >> How much is it? >> $88. >> They want to sign a complaint. So, it's going to be 25. We'll go watch the video. >> The suspect, 47year-old Jack Coralone, turns out to be a repeat offender even at other branches. What he didn't know is that the store uses tracking tools to flag familiar faces, making it easier for loss prevention to stay one step ahead. >> I ain't watching. Just send me the video in the thing. How many incidents you had? >> So, it's definitely got to be more than one cuz like I like I explained to him, he was what notified me was I seen that. >> I want to know how many you actually caught him doing. >> Um >> cuz you didn't report any of the other instances. >> Yeah, I guess I guess they didn't report. But this is the only one that we have them coming in selecting off your floor and trying to leave. >> All right. So, we'll handle this, right? >> Yeah. >> All right. If you could report the other ones, but you you don't >> Yeah, the other ones I have to look into cuz it was on a day. >> All right. Well, whenever you get the all the stuff you got, just uh >> we'll send somebody over whenever you you guys get it all together >> and then uh you got idea >> the the video to export it. >> Yeah. Do the link. You guys send the link over. >> Okay. Hold on. Get her up at headquarters. Um, >> you want just take a picture of the >> so you can upload it. >> No, just take a picture of it. >> Yeah. No. >> Yeah. You don't have to bring it. >> What's your first name? >> What's your name, man? Your first name? >> Jack. >> Jack, can you stand up first? >> Put your hand on top of your head. Drop the phone real quick. >> You need to email, right? And just unlock your fingers right here. >> All right. >> All the way. >> You got anything sharp on you that's going to hurt us? Right. >> No weapons before we got here. They just want to stand by the law. >> Yeah. Ah, I survived again. >> Yeah. >> The man was allegedly trying to steal $8845 in goods. And thanks to store surveillance, there's video proof of the entire attempt. With that, the officers waste no time placing him under arrest and leading him out of the store. >> No, it is your car. >> Yes. >> Well, that's actually my my friend's car, but it's my car. >> All right. This is all yours, right? >> Yeah. >> You uh >> Oh, thank you, buddy. Get familiar with the system, bro. the video, right? Um, >> I'll give you an email to send it to. >> Oh, actually, >> I have his email. I'll send you the link to >> All right. >> Come on, Jack. Right. >> Yeah. >> All right. >> Anything else for us? Good. >> Yeah. >> All right, man. >> Have a good one. >> Info and everything. >> Yeah. Yeah. My head, man. That's awful. Stand by right for me real quick. You have a seat. It's a short ride. >> What's surprising is that Jack had $550 in cash on him, yet still chose to steal. That decision is now coming back to bite him. adding another charge to his growing record. >> Be all right. >> What car is this? >> Why is my my trunk? >> Yeah. What? What car is this? 1052. >> See, I'm going to be installing miles 4815. Quaz is going to follow. >> Jack was taken to the Hoboken Police Department where he was formally processed and charged with shoplifting under $200. Afterward, he was released pending a scheduled court appearance. Number three, woman realizes excuses won't work with nononsense cops. It was either get the job done or don't get paid. Well, you used uh points from >> Yeah. >> Okay. Why can't you use more of his points so that that that comes off? >> Because that's for his stuff. Number two, police surprise man at the exit after failed theft attempt. On July 2nd, 2025, officers responded to a call from Juel Oasco after loss prevention reported a man stuffing items into his bag and bypassing all points of sale. Security moved in quickly before he could get far. And here's how that confrontation played out. Hello. Backpack. >> What? >> You're detained. I see your backpack. >> Everything in my backpack is not from here. So, >> you said everything in your backpack's not from here, >> right? >> Okay. I watched you walk in with the with the backpack, walk into my aisles and conceal all your products that you took from. And the only thing you bought was that >> I didn't put anything in the backpack. I did my turn real quick. You have anything on you while we're talking. Anything? >> Huh? >> You want to under the influence of anything? >> No. You got any medical problem? >> Uh, no. You feel generally fine right now? >> Though he's facing a charge for failure to appear, the man's respectful attitude earns him a straightforward exchange with the officers. >> No, never mind. I get that. >> I believe you. You're talking to me here. I just want to make sure there's no help. Oh, no. >> Segway. Okay. >> While the store items were small, the high cost of over-the-counter meds pushed the total to more than $1,200, qualifying the offense as a felony. With a receipt secured, the officer wraps up with the staff and returns to the cruiser. Okay. So, uh question uh we we give the full price uh not the sale price. That's what you guys do as well. However, at this point, the officers aren't buying the story, and they've heard enough from him. Heat. Heat. All right. All right. Hop out. >> Hold it in your hand. >> Yeah. See the handle key in my on my on my key ring. Key ring. >> Yeah. >> I'm not going. >> It's not illegal. >> I'm not going there. Anyway, normally we go through that way, but the door is broken. Though the suspects had already fled by the time officers arrived, the staff provided plenty of information to help with the investigation. Here's what unfolded next. >> Hey, did you call about those guys?
