Can I take a phone call? >> No, not right now. We'll get to it in a minute. Wait for just one thing. >> How's he? >> Can you at least just write a phone number down for me, please? >> You don't have to keep your phone. >> Okay. >> What's your real name? >> I need to call my lawyer. You need to identify yourself. >> The name was Britney Green. >> Obviously, you know, >> um that's all right. >> You need to identify yourself. When you go to jail, they'll put you in a safe book for uh 3 days. >> The officers [music] are still trying to determine who they're dealing with, but the woman isn't making it easy. Wait, we're on our inventory conducting investigation right now. So, if you choose not to, you'll get resisting charges. >> Okay. >> So, you want to give your real name? >> It's right there. >> Well, it's not >> Ashley. Ashley. >> So, what exactly happened? >> Okay. So, let's start from >> So, she has been to my storage, all of Orlando, and all of the manufacturers have been talking about this for months. I don't know if she did previous today. We have a couple that come up frequently. Um, and she's and she has to go social 10,000 accounts to take the obvious. >> So they open up credit cards to buy the >> pond. So they buy the easiest pond things which is the headless gold. >> And that's what she was like. >> Okay. They've called my loss preventions last notice of about her specifically the case was to call the police because of how many times and how many accounts they've already opened. >> Mhm. >> So you know how many times she's done it here >> in my location. This is the first IK Jewelers in Orlando specifically a bunch of times. >> Okay. >> Yes. at Waterford Lakes, at Florida Mall, at Winter Garden, um Davenport, I believe, and one more location and a couple of them. She goes back regularly to try and the last time they called the police never came. So, thank you so much, my love. I appreciate you. >> Of course. >> Um I'm going to need your ID. >> Yeah, you need to go get a statement. Um I'm just trying to have the rain get down. Let me grab this. >> The jewelry involved wasn't cheap either. In total, the items were valued at more than $35,000. Fortunately for the store, staff spotted the fake ID before the transaction could be completed. >> I'm trying to buy anything. >> No, cuz my credit account. >> But after we did the credit account, then we were able to see >> then what? Um after we did the credit account then she wanted to see what she would qualify for to buy them. >> Okay. But we have to have the credit account in order for her to actually previously go change this to go change the city cost $6,999. >> No, Matt. I love Matt. M not about to go on the paternity leave. >> That was their name. >> That was Matt. >> No, no, it was just whoever. >> The short guy him. >> And this one for 6,899. 99. SK number one 346 42. >> No under that name. >> 401 527. Karma's a man. It's going to suck. I get what you doing with that song. Shine bright. >> We're in a jewelry store. >> Now that the suspect is secured, the officers gather more details from the employee who handled the transaction. >> I'm going to put a million times. That's crazy. >> Okay. So, I put the the cost and I put the item numbers of each of them, the retail prices. Um, yeah. So, mama, what else do you need? >> I will get one cuz they're going to >> Can we have a receipt? >> I Because she didn't buy anything. I don't have receipts unless it was physically like one >> training receipt. What you mean? >> Like just print out like a void receipt like you scan it out of paper usually. >> I don't think so. that I know of. There's not a way for me to I can like put them back in the system like how I had them and then we can do like a picture, but there's >> Well, they have like all the prices. >> Yeah. Yeah. It'll have it on it. Yeah. >> I wish I would do that if I could, but I have to charge something in order to do it. >> You're also being trespassed from the home. Yeah. We're trying up to a year or you're subject to arrest. >> Where am I going? Town. >> Mhm. >> 33. >> Yeah. Have you ever been there? Y take this piece off and put it in there or no? >> You'll have to take everything out of the deal anyways. Um so we don't got to worry about that. >> With the statements collected and the paperwork in order, there's not much left to do but escort the woman out of the store. Okay. Okay. You're good. >> I know you got a gun in a cage. >> Am I doing something wrong? >> Squeeze me. >> Trust me, this is not a squeeze at all. Yeah. >> Did you say to have a cigarette? >> Yeah, I just wanted There we go. >> Ow. How do I get them off my wrist? I mean, not off. I'm sorry, but like not on my bone. on the other side. >> Face the car. What are your stairs? The encounter eventually came to a quiet end as the woman was taken to the station for [music] processing. >> Is that what you said? >> Huh? >> Is that what you told me to do? >> Yes. Put it on. Do you have anything on your little cooker? Quick, please. >> No, ma'am. >> I think I got a lighter in my No. In my >> A lighter? >> Yeah. >> I don't know. I don't know what it is. I just have my Hold on. Hold on. It would be right here. >> No, but it's not there. >> Yeah. Okay. We're getting in her car, man. >> No. No. No. Scared me. That's all. It must be in the I don't know. Maybe I put in my purse. I'm sorry. >> You definitely had a letter. >> I put a letter in it first. >> Yeah, then I put it back in the purse. Okay. >> I need to call it. >> Hold on one second. >> Or just >> You're going to let me smoke in here? >> Yeah. Well, just sit in real quick so I can grab it. >> The encounter ultimately ended with a woman being charged with fraud and trespassing. One failed attempt wasn't enough for this man. On April 21st, 2025, officers were called to a store after employees reported that a man was allegedly attempting to open a line of credit using false information. Here's what happened when officers arrived. >> So, We got called here. Stay here for a second. Something hold your hands out. Get your hands out of your pockets for me. >> So, >> hold on one second, sir. I'm going to talk to you. Just talk to you for a second. >> All good. Okay. Everything's cool, right? So, we got a call said that you have applied for a credit card a couple weeks ago with a different ID. Today, file for the same credit card and you were denied the first time. You got called today because you were applying for another one. Okay. >> What's going on here? >> I I don't even um live here. So, I was just going to apply for a credit card. I got a den. I called back. >> Okay. >> And um coming back to see if I get approved again. I got a different card. >> Why would Why would >> It wasn't a different car. It was I I applied for the same card. >> No, no, not the credit card. Different ID like driver's license. One was an Indiana license. Now, one is Illinois license. No, it's a I got an Indiana's license. >> Okay. You don't have an Illinois license? >> No. >> Nothing with a different address or >> you haven't got anything changed, right? >> When I When you run your credit, it's it's um >> when you run your credit, the credit is um for your what you put there. I I don't live here. So, I got my Indiana address for my ID. >> So, it sounds like it's a misunderstanding, right? But we have to investigate. So, I appreciate your your cooperation. Do you have a driver's license on you? >> Yes, I do. Can I see it, please? >> Yes, it's right here. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Pleasure to give it to you guys. >> Because when we're dealing with an investigation of a fraud, okay, which this is by law, you have to um supply it to us. >> But it's not a fraud cuz I never made a purchase. >> Understand? >> No, no, no. It is because it could be identity theft then. Okay. So, which falls under the fraud. >> Mhm. >> So, that's what we're here for. Okay. And so, when we ask for your ID and you show it to us, you have to provide it to us. Okay. So, this is the driver's license. Okay. >> The officers have heard the allegations and the officers begin the investigation by taking a closer [music] look at the identification the man provided. I'm >> not trying to be a trying to tell you the law. >> Have you ever been arrested for >> William? This is a huge misunderstanding. I do apologize. Okay. I I never want to bother anybody's time or anything like that. We're just trying to do our job, get you out of here. If if what you're telling us is true, put you out here in on your way. >> Okay. >> So, you're approved for the card today? >> No. Yes, I did. >> Did you make a purchase yet? >> No, I didn't make no purchase. >> So, why would you come here to If you live in Indiana, why would you come here? There's a lot of tractor supplies on the way. >> There's no tractor supplies on my OG live. I was out here for the holiday yesterday. >> Okay, cool. >> Where they at? >> For my mother's. Yeah. You just said OG, so I didn't know who >> Yeah, that's my mother. She lives in um Indiana. >> Oh, okay. So, there's none in Indiana. So, the closest one is New Orleans. >> Yeah. The one I was close to was right here. >> Okay. >> So, what were you hoping to buy? >> I was just trying to get some rails and um walk tools. >> [clears throat] [music] >> Is he getting the other person so we can try to figure this out? >> He's trying to multitask. That's for sure. >> Who? So, who you getting to to show us what what we do? So we need to see like the cowboy figure. >> While store employees gather documents and evidence related to the attempted credit application, the officers continue trying to sort out the man's side of the story. I understand the camera, but if you fight with his himself, then >> what? First T. No, it's not first Tuesday of the month. >> Test. >> Serge is here. I'm going to go out. It is okay. I'm going to go out and get a little bit further information real fast. Say that again. I'm in my auto. I'll just go out there and run. >> I'm not I'm not in my car. >> I'm in my U-Haul. >> You're in the U-Haul? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Were you planning on purchasing anything today? >> Say it again. >> Were you planning on purchasing anything today? >> Well, I was going to get some stuff. >> Okay. All right. >> But they was taking forever. >> Okay. Have just have them run that. No, it's not going to come back. I just paid that today extended. >> So, okay. Contact Indiana State Police. Just have dispatch do that. >> Yeah. >> Indiana State Police >> for the name, >> for the name, for the ID, everything about it. They can tell us how much it back. >> If you got a throttle, it is worth it. not going to be there in a while. >> But I didn't know. I'm just waiting to see what y'all think going on. I was just sitting there waiting cuz he told me somebody was going to come unlock it. Never came unlock it. >> I guess she trying to say I'm trying to do fraud. I'm not trying to do fraud. I just signed up. Got approved. >> Well, my sergeant saying if if you use a different name, tell us now. >> No, that's that's what I just used. >> This is for reflex that you have brand new ID today. A U-Haul. >> No, the U-Haul is how I get I don't have a car. >> I know. I get it. But also, >> this is issued in 2024 according to this. >> Okay. So, this is not new. >> Once the officers determined that the suspect's ID is fraudulent, they inform the man that he'll need to come with them. Here's where the conversation begins heading in a different direction. >> I I don't have it was issued. You see there? >> Yeah. >> I don't have a car. >> All right. So, what we're going to have to do is we're going to have to bring you to the station and we're going to have to fingerprint you. And then >> why you got to bring me to the station? cuz we're investigating a felony. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> And everything is like I said, it's not going to be the end of the world. >> Wow. I'm not I didn't even buy anything. >> So, what we're going to do for >> the mere application of a false. >> So, this is this is you. >> That's me. >> I know. No, I don't. I don't. >> No, I don't. >> Well, we're going to bring you back for investigation. Okay. >> Take him in for what? What? for investigation of credit card fraud. >> Hands behind resist. Put your hands behind your back. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Okay, you can talk to him. I'll put your hands behind your back. >> It'll all be inventoried. Everything's on camera. >> I never purchased anything. It doesn't matter. >> It's the application of the credit card. The application. >> It is. >> That's me. How you going to tell me that's me or not? >> I never told you. I just got that. You put words in my mouth. What did you say? >> 21. >> I just got the U-Haul. I What are you talking about? Why can't I record? >> So, you have an Illinois driver's license. >> You just total arrest one total conviction zero and then just saying the last arrest was by Neighborville back in 2020. It was for ordinance. That's all it's on here. With the investigation over, the officers speak candidly with the man about the choices that led him there. >> What? >> In the future, just be honest with us, man. >> You said that's all you had. That's the only idea you had. That's a bunch of BS as we obviously just found out. So, the lies should probably just stop at this point. >> Or we're not just we're not going to help you. Period. You're going to go over here. >> Oh, no. That's fine. >> Okay, hold on. >> I I ain't got nothing but money going. Okay, >> like I said, everything's on video and audio. So, whatever we pull out is going to all contain together. All right. You have beside your phone. Okay. I'm getting the tank for no reason. >> Be careful, man. We already told you why you're getting the tank. This is not for any reason. >> The man was charged with possession of a fake ID and obstruction by false identification. Police surprise young man after he uses counterfeit money at a store. On August 26th, 2022, officers went to a residence while investigating a man who had allegedly used counterfeit money at a local store. However, when they arrived, the suspect wasn't there. Instead, they found themselves speaking with his mother. >> Hello. Hey, can I can I step in for just a second? >> Um, not really dressed. Uh, >> oh, that's fine. Uh, is your son uh All right. So, he lives here with you? >> Um, he's really homeless. >> Okay. But when he has when he's really he has PTSD. >> Okay. >> So, um when he gets real far out there >> Mhm. >> then he normally I get a call from somebody >> and I try to find him >> and I try to drag him back for a little bit. >> I try to get him to get medicated. >> Mhm. >> And I try to get him thinking straight. Okay. I don't have a lot of luck because he's an adult. I can't get him >> I can't make him go in >> and start his medication. >> Is he >> You can't force him to >> Exactly. >> Yeah. No, I get that. A lot of people find themselves in that situation too, especially when you're dealing with adults. >> And and I had him here and he fell asleep on the couch and he got a cell phone call and then I got up and he was gone. >> Okay. So, I guess the reason why I'm here is that he tried to pass off some counterfeit money. >> Oh, you got to be kidding me. >> So, he's actually with us. >> Oh, >> all right. >> But when he's mentally stable on his medication, he's 360° person. Okay. >> And I have been fighting and fighting to get him back there. And ever since this girl tricked it in, it's been a nongo ongoing battle. One time he actually told me that he was going to go home and burn her alive in her bed. >> As the conversation goes on, it becomes clear that the mother's biggest concern isn't the counterfeit money allegation, but her son's current state of mind. >> I called her and told her, "Listen, this is how far you have him out there. >> He has PTSD. He fears for himself. He's stating this. Let him go. Let him go. You you've got to you've got to be off your rocker just as he is. I called for a wellness check on him here in >> North Allen >> because I couldn't let him go out into public talking like that about anybody cuz if he's talking like that about her, what's he going to do to a a perfect stranger? Has nothing to do with anything. It's not right. So they picked him up and they put him in the hospital here in St. Elizabeth. She was out in 2 hours. She got him out in 2 hours. And I've been battling this the whole time. >> So when did he get out then? He said uh >> he hasn't even been out a month. >> Really? >> No. >> He hasn't been out um I think he's been out 2 and 1/2 weeks, maybe 3 weeks. >> So in the past 3 weeks, has she been around at all that you know of >> that I've seen? I haven't seen her, but she's made calls. She uses other people's Facebook pages to contact him. Uh that's the reason I refuse to turn the phone off. >> Okay. >> Because He got when he got out he he was here like 6 days and then he got up and he said, "I feel much better today." And I said, "Good." And I went in the bedroom and come back and he said, "Uh, he needs to go back in." >> All right. Well, if you find some more stuff laying around or whatever where he stays at, just give us a call, let us know. >> I absolutely will. And if I find any bills or anything that's not uh accounted for for us, I'll definitely bring them, >> okay? because that I don't want him to get into no more trouble than he already does. >> Right. Right. >> I mean, that's just ridiculous. Thank you so much. >> Oh, no problem. Take care, ma'am. >> The officers have heard from the suspect's mother. Now, they want to hear from the people who first encountered the suspect. >> Hey, sir. What's up? >> Hey. >> What can I do for you? >> Did you just have a uh white guy walking through here? >> Um he was here a little bit ago. He was trying to get um his phone activated. When he left, he went out my back door and went that way or the front door and went that way. >> Okay. >> Skinny white dude kind of bald. >> Well, it's cut really short. >> Okay. Any tattoos or anything? >> Um I think so. I think he has a tattoo on his wrist. >> Okay. >> But he's got a a busted phone and he's trying to find a a Boost Mobile SIM card and I don't carry him. So, I told him to go to Walgreens. We might have him there. He might go be that way. >> Okay. I think he just tried to pass fake money there. >> Oh, yeah. No, he didn't purchase anything. >> After sorting through conflicting information, the officer is directed to [music] the correct store and finally gets the chance to speak with the employees involved. >> So, I'm going to I have to record you. So, whenever we have big cases like this, cuz what he did was a felony, safe attorney's going to want recorded statements from both of you since you guys were the ones that he tried to pass the bill on. >> Okay. So ma'am, first uh the gentleman with the gray t-shirt, blue jeans that came in. Uh what did he do? Uh whenever he came in and tried to buy, >> he said, "Where is your phone card?" >> Okay. The phone cards >> right there. >> Okay. So he tried to buy >> he grab one of phone card. >> Okay. >> And he was load $50. >> $50. >> Yes. >> And he told me there was a $60. >> So when I look it's not real. Actually, there was five $20 supposed to he gave you. So, which is $100. >> So, he gave you 520s. >> Real? Yes. >> And none of them none of them looked real? >> No. None of them was real. >> Okay. So, what did you do at that point? >> I call manager. >> You called the manager. >> I told him our manager have to be observed for this transaction. >> Okay. So then did you come out and he left or >> he was leaving right as I was coming up to the register. He was speaking very loudly to her. I could hear him on my way up. But by the time he rounded the corner, he's just said, "Forget this." or something like that. >> He called me to give me my money and the phone call. >> Okay. So, did you hand him back the those 20s? >> I avoid that $50 phone call. I told him, "You can have your money, but not a phone call." >> Okay. >> So, you gave him back the 20s, >> right? >> All right. And then >> then he uh he walked out soon as came. >> Okay. >> Yeah. He actually left the store and then he handed me the 20 and I looked at it and I asked him if he had real money because this was not real. >> Okay. >> Um and he said, "Oh, I found this wallet on the Metro Link. It's not even my money." He pulled it out of like a stack of like obviously fake 20s. And I was like, "Okay." He's like, "Well, can I have it back?" Said, "Well, if it's fake, I'm just going to get rid of it for you." So, I kept it and then he just left. >> Okay. As store employees explain what they [music] witnessed, another officer takes the opportunity to hear the man's side of the story. >> Man, I found my own bucks on Metro Lake last night in this dude's wallet. I was going to tell I was going to pay it back and they ke was fake. I took it over here. I was going to buy a couple solders. They said I said, "You got a real 20?" I said, "What?" I took it. I was all right, man. I went home for this. >> Do you have it? You know the what? The 20? >> Yeah. The Well, the fake one. >> Oh, they're down here in my house. I mean, you want them? >> Huh? >> You want them? >> Yeah. Yeah. I mean, if they're fake, >> I I don't know. One of them looked for real, but Yeah. I mean, you I'll give them to you, though. >> Okay. Well, give me one second, bro. >> Did you come over here for me? >> Huh? >> You come over here for me? >> Well, yeah. They They called and said, "Hey, this guy's This guy's up here trying to pass money." >> Hello. >> They said that you said it was fake and you found it. You showed them two wallets. >> Yeah. >> When did you find it? >> Last night. >> Last night. >> Last night. >> 25th. >> Yeah. Last night. You mind if I get in the shade? No, that's still me. And you said you live right over here on lawn. >> Yeah, I live right long street. >> Okay. What's the address there on South Long South? >> You male out of Illinois? Huh? >> I said I'm a male. >> Yeah, that's what I said. What' you think? I said female. >> Yeah, you said female. >> Come on, man. >> My my license had female on it, man. I had a license like years ago. I know. My my license said I was a female, dude. >> I know. It's 2022 and you could be what you want to be, but it look like a dude to me. All right. >> Do you have that wallet that you say you found? Oh, I mean, yeah. >> I was going to give it back to dude. I didn't think it was fake. Then I looked at it. >> Then I looked at it and uh I can see I can see a watermark on it. You know what I'm saying? >> I seen a little like the ink, you know, when ink stain. So I >> Yeah, I was like, "Yeah, I guess I guess she probably right." You know what I'm saying? So I took it home, man. You know, I was going to throw it on the yard over there. >> Go ahead. >> I was going to throw it in the yard over there. Just going to throw it down. You know what I'm saying? >> I got you. >> But uh you can relax. I sent me my money and uh she uh she gave me my money and I came over here and I found out how to turn the phone on and uh then I went back over there cuz they don't got the right SIM card over here. So I went back over there and uh >> according to the man the counterfeit bill wasn't originally his. The officers however still have questions about how it ended up being used at the store. >> It was it was 520. So at first I thought it was 80 and I recount I was like man. So, >> I do a favor. >> Raise the blade in what? The wallet. >> Yeah, that wallet. >> The laser wallet. >> Yeah, the one you found. >> I didn't know that. >> Yeah, in there. >> You got anything in your pockets? >> I mean, I got stuff in there, right? Nothing's going to get you. >> Okay. How long you been living on uh South Lawn? >> I just came down here. I just got a job. >> Okay. What you working? >> I was working right here, but I'm about to go back to jail. So, I say I'm tired of God, you know. I took your wife for a couple weeks off. You know what I'm saying? I ain't going to work. >> You were working where? >> I was working here. >> Where? >> Here. >> Work here. High point. >> Yeah. Right here. >> I was going to say we're standing in front of a vacant building. >> No vacant find. >> Okay. >> Worked damn. >> You should have called, man. Should have called somebody and said, "Hey, look." >> Even so, >> I was going to give it back to this dude. All right, I'm going to put you in the back of my car until we again until we get everything squared away. Watch your head. Watch your head. Sque your feet in. >> Can I get my Can you keep my stuff together for me? >> Yeah, absolutely. >> All right, man. Come on. Watch your foot there. The ride to the station passes without much incident, but the man still has plenty to say once the booking process begins. I'm a good hider. >> Then I'm not sure I can talk to my supervisor and we'll see what because you've been cooperating with us. >> This way. This way. >> Hey, look. everything. >> That's And you ain't lying. You ain't lying. >> The man was later charged with passing counterfeit bills. Man tries to buy a Rolex with fake cards and a fake ID. On May 7th, 2025, officers were called to a pawn shop after employees reported that a man had allegedly attempted to make a purchase using a fake ID and a fraudulent card. Here's what happened when officers arrived. >> Someone called? >> Yeah, I'm What happened? >> That guy, he left his fake ID and credit card in my shop. He was trying to scam us and he's not going to >> What? What? What did he What did he He was trying to buy a Rolex using a credit card. >> Okay. >> And uh I suspect that his identification is fake. >> Okay. >> And uh >> how do you know that it's fake? You're just assuming or >> assuming? Yeah. >> Okay. You're just assuming that's fake. Which store do you work in? >> In a pawn shop. VIP here. >> VIP. >> Okay. And so he was in there trying to buy a Rolex from you guys. >> That's correct. >> And he left his stuff behind you. So >> he left the credit card and ID in our shop. still has it there. It's still there. >> Okay, let's go over there right now. >> 10 floor. And when he pointed over there, I saw I saw the mail go into the CVS as well. >> That was him that entered the CVS. >> Black male and white t-shirt, but he also have a hoodie. He took it off. >> He had a hoodie, but he took it off. Okay. But so you just you just think that he did he pay? Um, so he just left behind they they just he didn't take anything or buy anything with them. They just he left a credit card and ID behind. You over at the pawn shop? >> No, I wasn't at noon. I was in CVS. >> All right. Come on out. coming up. >> I wasn't in contact. >> Hey, you're detained. You match the description of someone that was doing fraud over at the pawn shop. All right. They saw you walk in here. Blue jeans, white t-shirt with a beard. You come out, you hop in an Uber. I have to I just have to do my job. >> Yeah. Looks like he has a um I'm going to talk to them more, see what he's trying to buy, but he's got a fake ID. He's trying to buy Rolex. Wouldn't ID wouldn't scan for them on their system, so they thought it was weird. So, I declined and told him they're not selling them anything. And then he left on foot. And that's where uh the cost has them now. So, okay. >> They had another one earlier today, right? Rolex. >> Yeah, he's trying to buy Rolex >> with a fake ID. >> Fake. He had a fake ID. I'm not sure about the card. >> Seems like what's the name? >> Same name. >> Same name. >> Yes. I don't know if he like opened up a >> Is it a fake ID or >> Yeah, I ran it and comes out to nothing. So, um definitely fake ID, >> but I mean I can definitely >> Yeah, definitely get him like attempted, you know. >> Yeah. Well, first let's confirm that it's him and then we can there as far as >> Okay. So, I'll just go ahead with the shot first. >> Yeah, do the show. Confirm that guided. >> With the suspect secured in the patrol car, the officers returned to the pawn shop to gather the documents and statements they'll need for the case. >> Hey, uh, who's the one that was like helping him? >> It was her and then me. >> You were helping him, too? So, you saw him, you spoke with him and stuff. >> Can you head over there with me just to confirm it's him? Yeah. >> Can you get in my car with me? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Um, and then can you also get going like a receipt of like how much that cost the item? Uh, no. We did. I didn't charge the card. >> No, no, I know you didn't charge I know you didn't charge it yet, but can you just give me like an estimate? >> So, it is was >> Was it just a watch? >> 11,500. >> Submariner. >> Just a submariner. >> Yeah. >> Can you Can you like print like a receipt or something? Like a How much that cost? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Give me like a receipt just buy another store the Rolex. Probably something residential. So, >> he didn't buy it though. Correct. He buy it on another store already. >> Okay. >> I didn't know. >> Okay. So, he he tried to buy it from you guys. Correct. >> Tried to buy it from >> But you told him no. >> He told me that he already buy the watch from another store. >> Okay. >> So, opportunity to show up with you real quick just to verify that it's him. I'm just going to read you these instructions real quick and then we'll be on our way. Okay. All right. So, you're going to be asked to view an individual. The individual detained may or may not be the suspect. Take as much time as you need to look at the individual. Okay. It is important to exclude innocent individuals from suspicion. The investigation will continue whether or not you can make the ident identification is made. >> Anything on you? Any weapons or anything? >> Okay. >> Thank you. I appreciate it. All right. You can take a seat. >> Going to buckle you in. We're going to head over 37. be doing a shop with the victim over here. We have to run to the CVS. Starting mile is 88.5. Your >> license, you have a license issue to out of New York. >> Yeah. >> As officers wait for the store employees to verify the suspect's identity, another officer hears the concerns of the ride share driver hired by the suspect. Might be a minute. >> Something in my car. >> Say what? >> He literally something in my car. >> What is it? >> I don't know. >> Oh, okay. If you want to get it out, that's fine. >> That's fine. >> Yeah. Yeah. You can uh here. Yeah. >> Yeah. Maybe you just try. I don't know what it is. >> Oh, it's all good. >> I don't know the cash. Okay. >> Hey, there. You're not using your phone, man. And there's the black hoodie they said you were wearing. >> You don't have any weapons on you, boss. Right. >> I didn't grab anything in that in the pond. I just window shopped in the pawn shop. I didn't even get anything. >> Okay. Do me a favor. Stand up. I'm going to patch you down for weapons. Okay. Just turn around. What's going on now? >> I'm just patting you down for weapons. All right. Everyone that goes in, go down. All right. All right. So, the officer that's doing the invest what? >> Before long, the pawn shop owner passes by inside the police car and confirms the man in custody is the same person involved in the earlier transaction. >> Yeah, that's him. >> That's the That's the mail. >> Okay. 37 97 and you can say 8.9. It's going to be a positive ready. 51 back to the pawn shop. >> They're not going to be in control. >> He'll be over in a minute. He's just meeting with the pawn shop doing his investigation and he's going to come uh come on over. All right. >> What are we waiting for now? >> The officer to finish up over at the pawn shop to come over here and talk to you cuz he's got a lot of questions for you, man. Lots and lots of questions. Yo, no. I just got his he just told me his name from New York. So, what I would do what I do first is take that card and then see if it's a fraudulent card. There should be a number there should be a number on the card you can call and be like, "Hey, someone's trying to use this card with a you know what we know is to be a fake ID." Yeah. Fake ID charge, right? And then I think I and I think the uh the other card it would be like mis misuse of personal identification or credit cards. That's the second charge. Does the name on the card match the ID? Okay. So, it's probably like a printed card like we're some someone got the card number and he he made his own fraudulent card. You know what I mean? They're going to explain to you, man. I don't want to give you I'm not there. So, I don't want to give you bad information. Which hotel? >> Delta Hotel. >> What is it called? >> Delta Hotel. >> Delta. >> Yeah. By Mary. Where do you normally live? In New York. >> New York? Yeah. >> So, you're down here visiting? You >> know how long this is going to take? >> I would say maybe 20 more minutes. >> Yeah. >> You wouldn't be able to sit down on no seats or anything like that. >> I can't bring you over to there cuz they probably don't Oh, just because it says Brooklyn, you're from Brooklyn, man. We can't just >> I didn't even see it said Brooklyn. I just wanted to sit down. >> Uh, let me see if I get it. >> Yeah. Let's Let's head over there. Can you grab that? You good? With the suspect identified, the officer returns to the employees to gather a more detailed account of what happened. >> Can you tell me what happened? Were you working as like the cashier at the time? >> He came to the store and he say that he's looking for to buy a Rolex Day. >> And then I show him couple options and he like this mariner stainless steel. I told him the price 11,500 before taxes and he was agree with this. >> He agreed with it. He didn't try to negotiate or anything. >> He didn't try and they negotiate at all. He even says that he can pay the fees for the card which is 3% and he was agreed to pay the tax. Sometimes people are negotiate because they don't want like they want better price. >> Okay. >> And he didn't negotiate at all. Yeah. And then I asked him ID and his card which he is willing to pay. And >> he provided >> he provided these two >> items right here. And then uh when I was trying to scan it with a bar the barcode here, it didn't scan and the ID >> looks weird by my opinion. >> Yeah, it doesn't look. That's why I starting to text to my boss and ask what to do and he say that I should ask his date of birth. So I did ask it and it was correct. He >> then on the address he say everything good but his zip code was wrong and I I was have feeling that he read on the phone what he has. So probably he he hold the phone on this moment and probably he read it like this. He hold I'm sorry he held his phone. >> Yeah. So when I asked his questions like what is your date of birth? He holding the phone. So probably he can see that >> like he was reading something. >> He was reading something. So >> okay >> I'm not sure I that's why I was confused and I wasn't sure that it's his ID. Today is the second time a day that somebody trying to scam us. So >> we decide to call you. And the total value of the items he was trying to purchase [music] more than $11,000. >> And then he asked his uh ID back when I was in the back and uh he uh decide to run away from the store. >> He ran away. >> Yeah. And he ran >> when you went to the back. >> Yeah. When I went to the back, my boss was there and that's the boss. >> Yes. That's the boss. and he say he's open the door for him because he can't uh like hold the customers there and then he run away to the CVS. >> Okay. And he just left this behind. >> Yeah. He left the all his >> and he just ran that way. >> Yeah. Okay. >> That's what my boss told me. He go to this uh federal and turn left and then go to the CVS, I guess. >> Okay. That was the last time you saw him when he ran away. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Okay. >> Next, the officer documents the owner's [music] statements. Can you just tell me what happened here today? Um, in regards to trying to purchase the Rolex, like how it started and then how it went in where you followed him to. >> Yeah. When I entered my store, there was a black male trying to purchase a Rolex Submariner. I felt he looked suspicious and his credit card. I asked him some questions about the credit card to confirm that it's his. I asked him to show me like app on the phone with the credit card. He was not able to provide me and I felt like I need to call the police to get this >> checked. >> Okay. >> Black male left the store and left his card and ID inside >> and I followed him down to nearest CVS. Then I told police there he is. >> Like why did he leave this behind? He just like when she went to the back to go get you again. Um, she said, you know, Lena said she went to the back again after you went to the back. Um, were you calling us then? >> She we were calling you. >> She was calling us and then you were in the back after >> I went to the back to push the button to let him out. >> Okay. So, you let him go, but he just left the stuff on the counter. >> The stuff. And this is also very suspicious. Normal person wouldn't leave his ID and run away. >> Did he run or did he walk? >> He walked fast. >> He was walking fast back towards that direction >> and then he made it all the way down. You watched follow him all the way. >> He was going to see what car is he driving, but yeah, he was by foot going north on Federal Highway. >> You followed him the whole time until you saw pointed at him >> up to 24th Street where you saw me. >> Okay. And he's wearing a hoodie when he was in here, but he took it off. >> Correct. >> Did he throw it somewhere or? >> That's a good question. I didn't >> Did you see? Cuz he's wearing a t-shirt. Go ahead. >> Okay. And if Yeah. He could be charged with something criminally. I know you're the owner of the shop. Would you like something like that to be done? >> Yes. >> Okay. So you brought his back here. When did you go to scan it? What did it say? Just >> this one just doesn't catch when I when I like do it. It doesn't make a sound. >> Oh, won't even like scan. >> Doesn't scan at all. >> Fortunately for investigators, the employees kept hold of both the card and ID. According to them, the suspect left the pawn shop before they could finish verifying the information. >> Okay. You were holding on to it and then that's when he just he got like kind of scared and he just left. >> Yeah. >> Didn't ask for it back or anything. >> He did ask. >> He did. Yeah. >> Oh, he did. And what did you say? >> I said that I'm checking good. >> Oh, you said Okay. So, you you were holding it, checking it, and then that's when he left. >> He didn't want to. He got like scared or something. He just wanted to >> Okay, Godrey, [snorts] we're waiting on somebody to come with a uh fingerprint scanner. >> Do you have a license on you? >> Not in your bag, not in your pocket. All right. We just have to confirm while we're waiting that you are who you say you are, right? Since you don't have your ID. And then we're still waiting on them to finish up over there. Do you know who's coming >> with the scanner? >> Yeah. >> I couldn't tell whose voice it was. >> I don't know. That person or I just heard 51. >> I don't have a private record out here though. So, >> no. What about in New York? You ever been arrested? >> Probably when I was a teenager. >> Teenager. >> All right. Do you come to like did you How many times you been to Florida? >> I've been to Florida a couple times. Okay. As like like recently? >> Uh probably like in the last 2 three years. >> Okay. One second. Just waiting on that print scanner. Man, >> I think he's pulling in right now, though. Like so. >> Print scanner. >> Fingerprint scanner.
