Being a parent means putting your child first. Unfortunately, these parents did the opposite and it left officers with no choice but to step in. What follows are rescues that prove just how far the law will go to protect the innocent. Here are five cases when cops rescue kids from evil parents. Number five. How officers quickly learn someone isn't fit for parenting. On March 19th, 2025, officers in Ohio responded to a call about a domestic disturbance. What they encountered at the residence, however, was far more troubling than they expected. So yeah, she's inside. Uh She's just sitting on my apartment. Okay. She kind of went a little crazy. She was banging her head up against the walls and I think she stepped on some or kicked some something glass at some point or something that was shattering. >> I just went upstairs. That's when I called you guys. So do you No, so she grabbed me. Scratched you? Yeah. Okay. So So she wasn't like drinking or nothing? Well, she's been drinking heavily. Oh, okay. >> Yeah. Yeah, that's why she's acting all crazy. Hello. Hello. Hi. Hey. Hi. >> Hi. Hey, you got a dog in here? What? Is the dog put up? >> Um yeah. Is the dog put up? Is that Ms. Torres? Yeah. Hey. Let's Let's talk to you for a second. >> to us out here? Hey. How are you doing? >> Hi. I'm good. What's going on? I don't know. What's up, bro? All right. What's going on? I don't No weapons on you or anything like that? Can you turn around for us? Just to make sure. Okay. All right. All right. I want to ask >> going on tonight? Nothing. Are you sure? Okay. All right. Were you drinking tonight? Yes. Okay. Um So did you get into a altercation? No. Nothing physical happened? >> No. Argument? No. Okay. I was drunk. Did you argue with anybody? No, I don't think so. Okay. Where were you out tonight? Home. You were drinking here? Yes. Okay. All right. So nothing happened between you and um your sister's husband? I don't think so. It's obvious she's under the influence and with a documented history of substance use, officers suspect this isn't unusual behavior. And he was just worried. He was like he was like contemplating where I was like Okay. Um he's a cop. Yeah. Okay. All right. Um Do you take any meds at all? >> Yes. What do you take? I take Seroquel and Depakote. Okay. Yeah. Have you been taking them today? >> Yes. Okay. Do you know you're not supposed to take that and drink? I was so wet. Sorry. I appreciate it, but do you know you're not supposed to take that and drink? Yes. Okay. So when did you take your medicine? Uh like 5:00 today. And then you started drinking what time? Well, 8:00. Okay. All right. Um do you feel safe at all? I did. Did you eat today? Yes. Okay. Do you take your medicine all the time? >> All the time. Do you think you Do you have any feelings or thoughts about anybody at all? Anybody? No. Any Anybody yourself at all? Your baby? I'm fine. Okay. Do you usually drink? Does your sister drink at all? >> No. What's going on? Why you start drinking today? I'm depressed. Depressed? Yeah. Yeah, there's programs and there's people that you can go talk You have a case worker, right? >> blessed. Okay. All right. So you know you can reach out to those people whenever you're feeling low. >> Whenever you're feeling low and down, you can reach out to those programs to try to assist you. I feel like it overcame tonight. Like I know I'm very blessed. I know I'm not I'm just kidding. I'm just saying. Yeah. Yeah. Um your forehead. What happened to your forehead there? >> It's a pick. Okay. Yeah. But you got like fresh fresh blood on your forehead. You did it? >> Dry blood. It's dry, but it's it happened It happened like just recently. >> any like Can you show me your hands? Okay. Can you see up under your nails? Witnesses reported hearing a disturbance and the injuries on her face and arms seem to confirm it, but she's not admitting to anything. Okay. All right. I've been through a lot, but like I'm okay. Okay. All right. So you said nothing happened physically. Yes. Okay. Did anybody put their hands on you? >> No. Did you put your hands on anybody else? >> No. Okay. Are you sure about that? Yes. Okay. Okay. So if we asked your sister Yeah, they could tell you the truth. Okay. Let's get it. Okay. All right. Where is the dog at in the house? Winnie? What kind of dog is it? >> Is it a big dog? No. She's little. She's cute. Okay. All right. Where is her Could you have her We can I can probably go upstairs. Of course. If you can just stay down here. Okay. Yeah. And you talk to my partner. You said the baby's upstairs? Yes. Okay. While the female officer stays back with the woman, the other officer goes to speak with her sister who's upstairs caring for the child. Hello. I'm sorry to bother you. Okay. Um hello. Hi, Winnie. I just want to talk to you about the incident that occurred. Just to get your side of the story. So what happened? Um Yeah, she just kept going to the corner store. Different times and then apparently every time she was getting more and more alcohol. Okay. This is of course right over here. Okay. Um And then Yeah, like 10:00, 10:30 Mikey got back. And she went to the corner store again. Okay. So he was like I'm just going to go pick her up. And then he was gone for a little while with her cuz she was like just so Okay. And then she was just getting kind of um like obnoxious and Okay. Like throwing things and yelling and then she was like punching Mikey and screaming at him. Okay. Cuz he was just trying to like make her calm down cuz it was like I said it was late so our like our kids were sleeping. Yeah. We have babies and we have a four and six year old. Okay. All right. So you actually saw her get physical with him or Yeah. Okay. All right. Um does this happen often? No, cuz she like like he said, she's been on probation. Okay. I'm saying this for a year and then aside from a slip up she had a few months ago and then she went to rehab for that so she was fine. Okay. Um Yeah, it's been at least like six or seven months since she got back from rehab and Okay. So you say today she was going back and forth to the corner store again things to drink. Yeah. At some point >> saying she was getting energy drinks, but apparently she was getting alcohol and stuff so Okay. All right. And then you say your husband went to go pick him up at that point in time. What happened? And Yeah, like when they got back from that she was just kind of acting manic and it just kind of progressed from there. Okay. All right. With another account confirming her aggressive behavior including threats and an attack on her in-law, the officers continue piecing the case together. Did you saw her physically hitting him or attacking him or Uh I didn't see her, but like they were like right outside the door and he was showing me the thing on his chest. Okay. Like she was just like hitting the walls and and herself and then Mikey tried to grab her hands and like restrain her from hurting herself or breaking anything and then she like hitting him and then she like grabbed his chest right here and like scratched him up scratched him right here really bad. Did she end up breaking anything in the house? Uh not that I know of, but I've been up here with the babies. Okay. Did you like break anything here today? >> No, I don't think so. I didn't harm myself or nothing. Okay. But did you like kick anything? I mean, that's why I have to have my hand. I don't think so. Like maybe. Maybe in your room? Like the glass or something? >> go look. Yeah, we can go look. But like it's so cute like and I know I wasn't there. It is cute. Right. What happened to your mirror here? I don't know. I don't know. I didn't do it. Okay. Today? No, no, no. Another time. Oh, like another time? Yeah. Okay. I don't know. But this is from like way earlier. Okay. What about back this window right here? Is it broken? No. Well, yeah, like it's all fine. Okay. With conflicting stories, the officers carefully deliberate prioritizing the safety of the suspect and her child. We're just trying to figure out everybody's stories cuz we're getting different stories, you know. Um like there's three different stories. I mean, they all kind of correlate in some type of way, but your story is completely different from theirs, you know. Um and they all said they want the best for you, you know. But as far as your story today when when Novak when uh Mikey picked you up from the store today, Uh-huh. what transpired there? What? Do you Can you tell me what happened after he picked you up from the store? >> believing. You You stopped believing? >> I don't know. No, I'm I'm saying like You're right. I I I hear you. Yeah. As far as like Okay, so you were going back and forth to the store today. >> Yes. Okay, you were getting what? Something to drink? It also like drink something in general. Yeah, I'm thirsty. Okay. All right. >> All right. So, at some point in time Mikey came to pick you up, right? >> brother. Your brother came to pick you up. >> Yes. Okay. All right. So, what happened on the way from the store to you? >> sad. I got sad. >> You got sad? Okay. Did you get upset? Did you get physical with him at all? Did you push him? Um the devil. Huh? I don't know. You don't know? Okay. Not really. And you pretty much just been drinking to >> you're Robert. Huh? You're like Oh, you're like like you're Robert. Like you're like believe like you did it. I don't know. The devil got sad. So, what are you believing on? At the moment, she's agreeable and doesn't seem aggressive. Her behavior toward the officers isn't a problem, but they know better than to base a decision on that alone. And besides, they won't be the ones making the final call. So, now uh with everything that happens, we we contact our police legal advisor. Um And they're kind of going to make the final decision on what happens tonight. Okay. Okay? Yeah. So, I could be relieving you here, you go to sleep. I could mean I could authorize a you know, a a charge and you go to county. You know what I mean? So, it's just up in the air. So, I just wanted to be honest with you, okay? Right. I need to go to sleep. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, for sure. Literally nothing has happened. Huh? Cuz literally nothing has happened. Okay. I was just like I drank a little which I'm sorry. Okay. I drank so much last night. All right, we'll have you turn around. Okay. Interlace your hands on top of your head. Okay, what's going on? Yeah. Okay, what's going on? Yep, we can We'll let you know. Okay. Right now, you're you're being arrested for assault. Okay. All right. Okay. [Applause] Just come to the front of the cruiser. Uh Where am I going? We're going right here. And like where am I going? To Montgomery County Jail. Okay. I don't know. Yeah. Okay. My partner's going to Just stand right here, okay? Face the car. [Applause] Have you ever been arrested before? Yeah. Did you get my information? I got her information. Let's go ahead and step inside. I'm going to try to grab you a jacket, too, okay? >> Fine. Where is the vet? The drive to the station passes quietly, but even with her subdued behavior, the decisions ahead will be heavy for both her and her child. Yeah. Please. What did you say? Can you explain all that's happening? So, you're going to you're going to jail for domestic violence. Okay. Um so, what's happening is your daughter is going to be put into um children's custody. Okay. Yeah. Children's Services custody and they're going and then um you know, they're going to be in contact with your sister if that's the next Okay. >> closest of your family. >> Can Can you call Anna and tell her that? Anna Anna knows what's going on. Okay. >> Okay? [Laughter] I'm sorry this is happening. Um [Laughter] But you got to try to make better choices, okay? Yeah. Can I talk to her? No. You'll be able to talk call her once you get down there, okay? Can we just go to jail? Like can we just hurry up? [Laughter] She was ultimately charged with domestic violence and her daughter was placed under the care of Child Protective Services. Number four. When your own mother can see you failed at parenting. On January 27th, 2025, police responded to a residence after an elderly woman called about her daughter, who was reportedly mistreating both her and her grandchild. Here is what officers encountered when they arrived. >> Fill out. I want to fill out A POLICE REPORT. >> NO, NO, BABY. NO, NO. I was cutting Do you see what I got to deal with? DO YOU SEE WHAT I HAVE TO deal with? THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THEY CAME IN TO HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH ME. I was cutting french fries and I dropped the knife. If you had my granddaughter in the room beating on my granddaughter. She was snatching me up. Ma'am, let me talk to you back here. You're a liar. Okay. Is there anyone else in the house other than No, let me see my baby. Talk to my granddaughter. She's She's 12 YEARS OLD. I'M NOT ALLOWING MY CHILD TO SPEAK TO NO OFFICER. SHE'S GOT TO GO. WE GOT TO CALM DOWN OVER THERE. Go over there, okay? I'm going to speak with her, all right? >> Okay. Officer Callahan, Bloomington PD. You can't have her on your camera. You can't record it, okay? What happened? She was cutting french fries. I pulled out the dinner for my child to eat uh some meatloaf and gravy and rice. I told her she was eating that for dinner. She got irate, turned around with the knife in her Who got irate? She did. Okay. She's going through This is the second time that that officer has been here. Um I'm not allowing my child to speak to you on your camera. I'm just going to let you know that. Uh so, she turned around with the the knife in her hand. I knocked her cane to the floor. She approached me with the knife, told my asked my told my daughter she'd be eating the fries. I said my daughter won't. My daughter said she'd be eating the side. Popped her in the head and said you're not eating no fries. You're going to eat what whatever I cook you. Okay. Uh and so, she got irate, came in. Uh my daughter started crying. She got irate, came in snatching on me and I got to yelling at my child, told my child I'm your mother. You eat what I give you. And so, she got irate, had a knife again, came into the room and dialed 911. I told her to dial 911. You're the one that's irate. You're the one with in your hand. This is my mother child. And if I want to discipline my child, I could. That is it. That is all. Okay. So, it's a little fast, but let me see to see if I got everything, okay? So, basically grandma, right? Grandma's making french fries, okay? She wants to give her french fries. You don't want her to eat the french fries. >> what I said was that she was having gravy and meatloaf and rice. Okay. She got irate. And when you say So, grandma then gets irate with the knife in her hand because She's not going to eat the french fries. No, she's not going to eat the fries. She's going to eat the meatloaf, rice, and green beans. While she denies the accusations, her explanation does little to prove she's innocent and her daughter's visible distress isn't a good sign, either. And she got upset. Okay. And She's a liar. So, she had So, she had the cane and the knife in her hand and you No, the knife The cane I knocked to the floor. The knife she had in her hand. I knocked the cane to the floor. >> Yeah, so she had the cane and the knife in her hand. >> not have Oh, you just knocked the cane down. >> 100%. Okay. So, you just knocked the cane down. >> man. That's the knife that was in her hand. Okay. And now, did she say she was going to cut you or anything like that or was just the knife like just in her hand? It was in her hand. Looked like this. Okay. Did you get on my I'll lay your ass out. I'm 42 years old, you're 67. >> Okay. And then so, why did you bump her in the head? Uh because she kept talking back to me about wanting the fries and eating the fries and I told her that's not what she was eating. She's eating a four course meal. Okay. So, then >> I'm her mother. Okay. So, then you So, she said then I want to eat the fries. You said no. >> I said no. You were She was talking back and you bumped her in the head. When you say you bumped her in the head, was it like a open hand? Yeah. Okay. Okay. And so, then that is the law. There's a you know, there's parental discipline and stuff like that, okay? So, yeah. >> that's that's the that's the discipline that Yeah. So, and then I don't see any marks on her head or anything like that. Okay. And then um So, then after you bumped her in the head, she got more mad? >> Okay. And then so, you bumped her in the head. She still has the knife. You said that >> 100%. Did you go to a different room or she go to a different room? >> My daughter went to the room. I went to the room to grab her. She come back to get her hair done. Okay. >> She dialed 911. Okay. Okay. So, then she So, your daughter goes to your room her room. You go to the room to grab her. Did grandma follow you with the knife? Yes. Let me show you the knife. It has a black handle. Oh, I I believe she had the knife in her hand, don't get me wrong. I believe she had a knife in her hand. I'm not saying that at all. So, you then go to a different room to go get your daughter and she has the knife in her hand. She's calling 911. Yes. Okay. Let me just She was still there. Okay. But besides, you know, the bump to the head, no other physical complications like that. Okay. With the investigation still unfolding, a simple question about her daughter's name is enough to spark a shift in her attitude toward the officers. Okay. And then hold on, ma'am. I don't want her getting >> I understand it. No, no, no, we're not going to go over there. I don't want my child's name in your police report. Can you please stop pushing me? You're being forceful on a female. That's against the law. Yes, it is. I'm not all right with you. I'm giving you a direct I know. I'm not all right with you. I understand that and I appreciate So So go ahead and sit over there, okay? Sit over there while I speak with him, okay? All right? Awesome. [Music] [Music] After deliberating on the accounts they've heard, the officers decide it's time to confront her again. So, just with everything going on, okay? Is there anywhere else you guys can go for the night? I'm not saying you have to leave or anything like that. Okay, I was just wondering if there's anywhere else, you know, just for the I I hear you loud and clear, okay? Basically, right now where we're at is we want to end this problem, okay? Well, it seems like there is, you know what I mean? There's a There's a reason why we got called here. I mean, you guys are both yelling at each other when we got here. You I asked for a police report. Yeah. I already told you that we're going to have one documented, okay? When I'm When I'm saying I can't physically give you a copy, I can So, there's no there's no I give you Now you're being all right. Where in state Where in state protocol is it, okay? So, like I said, there's a FOIA, okay? Freedom of Information, okay? Once we generate the report and get everything going, you could FOIA this report, okay? And then you can get the whole copy yourself, all right? So, that being said clearly there's a conflict here, okay? We don't want to have to here or someone else, you know So, what's the What's the solution for tonight? Uh You came out here and that's just that that's just that. She has a problem, that's just that. I have nowhere to go, me or my child. And so that's just that. What I'm not going to do is leave my child here with her, she had a knife. Okay. I hear you. So, she can stay in her little 50 ft or 25 ft away from me and I'll stay away from her. I'm here doing something productive, you know? She's not doing I'm not telling you not. Okay. So No, we're not going to play shop with a cop, okay? What we're going to do What we're going to do See, you're just being ridiculous No, I'm trying to talk to you and you're I'm trying I'm trying to talk to you and you're and you're just kind of insulting me, you know? For no For no reason, you just called me a a public Okay. So, she has the We're not going to speak with her, okay? Basically, she has she has nowhere to go, okay? But she said she's willing to not speak with her for the rest of the night. And that remark is enough to leave even the officers at a loss for words. Yeah, she's going to pull this card, so. I am a public card. You don't want me to talk to your partner. You're here both of you are We're not We're not We're not going to do a shop with a cop thing, okay? You already spoke with me about everything like that, okay? Why can't I speak to your other officer? Because we're not going to do I'll talk to you. Can you talk to her? No. Well, I don't want to talk to her about what happened. She's a minor and I'm her mother. I do not want her speaking. I believe she saw something. I believe she did not. She's a minor and she's my child. I'm her parent guardian. I said no. Did she tell me what happened? I'm your parent and guardian. I said no. Well, she's nodded her head that she saw something. Pardon? She's nodded her head that she saw something. She didn't tell you that. She just nodded at me. No, she didn't. Yes, she did. No, she didn't. Okay. So, do you want to tell us what happened? The mom hit you how many times? How often did your mother hit you? Is what he's trying to ask you. Nope, I'm asking her how many times she So, ask her the correct questions. Ask How many times did she hit you in the head? Was it just one, two, three? Was Grandpa hitting you as well? You're a liar. No, she didn't pull my hair. When you When you said he pulled your hair, what did you mean? Yanked on your hair. Yanked on your [Music] Okay. Did you like fall back or anything like that? Go back in the room. So, when she pulled on your hair just so I understand, okay? Was it like, "Hey, come here" or was it like a "Come here"? And she like, "Hey, yanked on your hair"? My last question for you, ma'am. So, I know she said she you pulled on her hair. How hard did you pull on her hair? Just be honest with us. I don't know how hard at all. Is there a reason you hit her? Uh for talking back to me as I told her no no no command as a parent. A male officer isn't fooled and the 12-year-old herself confirms what really happened. The child already claimed that her mother hit her and her grandmother never tried to harm her. When the cuffs come out, the way she talks to her daughter is also telling of how she treats her in private. So, I know you said you didn't pull her hair hard at all at all, but what do we have Why do Why do we have a whole Why do we have a whole strand of hair Why do we have a whole strand of hair Here's my question. Why is her hair on the floor? Cuz usually you pulling someone's hair is I wouldn't say it's parent discipline like to pull someone's hair out. I'm braiding her hair. I'm African-American and I'm braiding her hair. I understand it, but we're talking about this hair piece that's over here. There was a hair being pulled and the hair came out. I'm doing her hair and it slipped out. I'm braiding her hair and it slipped out. Also, a parent discipline thing, I don't think anything with punching would be like involved in this in this one. Yes, she did. Yes, she did. No, she didn't. All right, you're under arrest. Sit up. Hands behind your back. Let me put on some shoes. No, we'll put your shoes on for you. [Music] All right, there we go. One for you. Shoes, please. All right, hold on a second, okay? Where are the shoes at? Uh in the room. Which room? Uh in that room. In this room? Yes. Where Where are they in the room with the shoes? Uh Can I put on some underwear? Yeah, that's perfectly fine. Okay, I'll do that. Just hold on a second. Where are the shoes? My hands are cuffed. I can't really put on some underwear. All right. We're not doing all this. I have no underwear on. You're taking me into custody. Well, I Sorry, you don't have under How are you supposed to put on underwear at this point cuz you're in custody. With grabbing them and putting them on. Between her earlier behavior and her lack of cooperation, the officers have little reason to cut her any slack. You can do that with your hands behind your back in cuffs. >> Can you uncuff me so I can put them on? You going to take me with no underwear on? Is your camera on? So, you're going to take me to jail with no underwear on as a male officer. That's very That's harassment that she has, okay? That's not It's cold outside, sir. Let me Can I get my gym shoes? Where are the gym shoes and what shoes are they? Are they the Converse right there? All right, going in here. Flip the light so I can see. I can show your flashlight, sir. Where in here are the shoes? He's asking me a question. Okay. I didn't ask you to come in here. I'm saying you're under arrest. I'm trying to show YOU. RIGHT THERE IN THE CORNER. YOU'RE NOT looking with your flashlight. These black ones? Okay. Step back out. I'll get the black ones for you. Oh, well, I don't care. I'LL GET RIGHT OUT. SORRY. AND YOUR camera on. I just Put the Put the shoes on the Put the shoes on the [Music] What about a jacket? I don't have a lot of jackets. I'll pull my car up here. I'll be shortly. I can't put that on. My hands are cuffed. That's what I'm going to do right now. Shawty? You can leave that in the pocket. That's where the ID is. Everything else you can take out the pockets. And Troy, put the shoe on me. We'll get her in your car and then 911 And once she's at the station, her behavior is no different. [Music] [Music] Say what? I didn't say anything. Oh, okay. I have a a device in my back area. That's a federal device. I'll let the department know. That's fine. It's a 911 call. To what? It's a 911 call. >> What does that mean? It's a a device uh federal agents are watching. Okay. Just let you know. >> sound like a firearm or anything? It's like What? Device? >> it's a uh a cigar phone for 911. Uh we have Do you Are you familiar with the 911 Second City thing um New York or anything like that? No. She She She take a seat right here in the front of the car. What is it? Uh it's a cigar. Uh A cigar? Yes. It's for a 911 in the city of in the in the city of Chicago. I don't know if it'll be anything like that. Um but it's an off area. Is that something you're able to take out? No. No? It's from JB Pritzker. It's a government phone. So lady, like this thing make sure that no one's going to touch anything. So let's show them and don't touch it. Yeah, that's fine. That's fine. We're done now. [Music] [Music] In the end, the woman was charged with battery. Number three, when day drinking comes before parenting and police have to step in. On September 2nd, 2025, officers were called by a concerned citizen who reported two children running in the street unsupervised and unclothed. When police arrived, they quickly located the children's mother and it was clear why the kids have been left on their own. Watch how the officers handled the case. Why don't your kids have any clothes on them? Cuz she We they took them off. We just got the subs. You got the You got the what? I'm not in no violation, sir. I didn't ask what you were doing. >> subs. I don't want to go to jail. We just got out the subs. What What's What's your name? >> I'm on probation. Okay. Why don't your kids have clothes on them? We just got the subs. We just heard the news about my mom. We just heard the news about my mom. We just heard the news about my mom. You were giving them baths? Yes. Okay, what happened to their clothes though? I just took them out and put them diapers on. Okay. Am I in trouble for that? Hang Hang tight for me, okay? Yeah, they seem to be okay. They just don't have clothes on. And she's obviously She's She's blasted. This lady, the driver, picked them up somewhere on the west side. You know right over here, Good Samaritan. Uh she's heavily intoxicated and impaired. Kids don't have any clothes on. She put a diaper on one of the kids. The other kid doesn't have anything on. So, just trying to get to the bottom of that. Yeah, they're They're both your kids, right, Lyric? Yes. Okay. Yeah. So. Do a little Lyric, how old are they? One and two. One and two? Okay. Yeah, feel free. For now, the officers hesitate on the best course of action and one officer reaches out to their superior for advice. Uh hey Wells, give me his phone. Uh can you Can you give me Can you point me in the right direction here? So, we're over here on Glendale and uh Wayne. And this lady gives a mother and her her one and two-year-old kids a ride to this address from somewhere on Western. Uh mother is heavily impaired. I don't know by what. The two kids at the time they didn't have any clothes on. They were in the middle of the street over there. But she has since put a diaper on one of them. Um and so when I asked mom about it, she said, "Well, we just got the bath. We just got the bath." That's all the reason I have for why they don't have clothes. Are you following me so far? Okay. Take her down to 49th. Yeah, she This lady in the in the car is just being a good Samaritan. She didn't ask for anything. She just gave her a ride cuz she felt bad. Do you have crime scene up here? >> I don't need crime scene up. Well, you don't need to walk up on me like that. >> up on us. I'm not walking up on you. I'm walking down the street. You walked up to me. I walked up to you. I didn't walk up to you. Yes. And I asked I now started asking you questions and you didn't like that. I don't care if you ask questions. You can ask questions all day. Well, clearly you do. Don't Don't approach me like I'm nobody. I got just as much right to walk down this street uh like I want to. You don't have no kind of crime scene up here. And for a simple uh traffic stop, you want to take this all out of proportion. You don't know what happened. You don't know what happened, and as usual, you're jumping to conclusions. Well, you walked up on me. I could have been walking on down there. You walked up on He makes it clear he has no plans to back away from the situation. If he doesn't stop, he might actually get involved in the situation in the worst way possible. You walked up on me. I had a right to walk down here. There's no crime scene tape cross here saying I couldn't walk down here, and you going to walk in front of me and stop me. I don't want to hear you. You can't have him to go past. We can't Our our boss doesn't want anybody walking up on this right now, okay? I can't go to my house? Where do you live at? >> I live right over there. On this house right there? No, that that that four path. Could you just step out over that way, go around that car then, please? Did you Finally, y'all ain't getting a crime scene tape crossed here. Where does he Where does he live? Okay. Yeah. All right. After finding someone to care for the child, the officers proceed with transport. All right, right now what you're being charged with is you're being charged with uh DUI, child neglect, and resisting without violence. I need you to lift your tongue Yes, ma'am. I need you to open your mouth and lift your tongue up to the roof of your mouth so I can make sure nothing is in there. Is there anything in there that's not been placed by a doctor? All right. Like I said, don't stand up for Yes, ma'am. What? Yeah, the booster seat's not until they're four. No, it says they're one year old. And they are not allowed to come out on their own for quite a while for you if you would like to see I didn't like it. I do not deserve to be charged with that. That was messed up. I did not know that they Even then, ma'am, she's not one year old. That was the law. Even in her own car seat, she should you know, she's not a newborn. You and everybody that was in the house with what y'all just did is that And there's things that grown up people that's way worse that you know what I mean? I really didn't fight y'all or anything at all. Um there's way worse situations that goes on. So, y'all didn't At this point, she shifts the blame, attempting to make it seem as though the officers mistreated her. I was not read my Miranda rights, right? I was still thrown on the ground. I Um I did not have a breathalyzer in my mouth at all. And I was Yeah, so I'm glad that the cameras are there. That way everything is on on record. So we'll get there. All right, so I can now request you submit to a test of your breath for the purpose of determining its alcohol content with this device. Do it right now? The lawful test of your breath for the purpose of Um I'm going to have to decline that because of that they're supposed to do that at the at the um location of the car. I need to read you something real quick. Y'all were supposed to do that at the location of the car, so y'all should have done that at the location of the car. So, so y'all didn't do that as soon as you pulled me over, I'm going to have to decline that. If you refuse to submit to the breath test, I will be >> you're supposed to do that as soon as you pull me over and that you expected that I was drinking. So, since you did not, I'm going to have to decline that. I got to read this to you. Okay. If you refuse to submit to the test of your breath, I have requested your driving privileges suspended for a period of 1 year if it's your first refusal or 18 or 18 months if you have a prior refusal. I ain't driving or drinking. You're supposed to do that as soon as you pulled me over. Additionally, if you have any refusal to submit to a test of your breath you will be committing an additional misdemeanor. How? If you have any prior refusals to submit to the test of Sir. As soon as somebody pulls me over and expects that I have a DUI, you're supposed to on site give me a breathalyzer. Nobody gave me no breathalyzer on the on the scene. They literally It's odd to challenge the law against those enforcing it, but she's convinced she's in the right. Pulled me out of my car and out of my arms, put me on the ground, and um yeah, put me in the back seat of the car. And other than that, nothing else was done. >> Refused So, if you feel like I had a needed a breathalyzer, they should have done that on the scene. It's not that I was refused one, I was never given the chance to have one. Refused >> So, I never refused one. I never gave I never had the chance to have one. Okay, let's just put that on file. I never refused Do you understand that I never refused it? I never had the chance to do it. Do you understand everything I just said to you? Do you understand I never refused I never had a chance to do a breathalyzer. Nobody ever gave me the chance to do one. Well, that's what I'm doing right now. They should have gave me that at the scene because I've been sitting here for hours, so my breathalyzer could be down if I was drinking alcohol, you know? You should do it right there on the scene. I feel like y'all are not being very um professional about things right now. So, the the the the officer that pulled me over should have gave me a breathalyzer right there if he wanted to pull me over for a DUI, he should have gave me a breathalyzer right there, which he did not. So, we're not going to do all that. We ain't going to do that. I just want to I need to read you your Miranda rights. You have the right to remain silent. >> Y'all are supposed to do that before you You used to do that before you brought me here. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed to represent you before or during any questioning for each charge you may wish You may decide at any time to not answer any questions or make any statements. If you start, you will stop. Do you understand those rights that I read to you? Uh yes, I do. Okay. Having those rights >> What time was it that you were driving while running the light? What time was it? Having those rights in mind, do you wish to What time was it? Do you wish to speak? She argues the officers were in the wrong because they didn't read her rights before the cuffs went on. What she doesn't realize is that Miranda only applies when she's in custody and being questioned, not the moment the handcuffs come out. Yes. Okay, do you wish to answer any further any questions? No, I'm I'm I'm wishing to ask what time is it right now. It is 12:35. All right, thank you. And you said that cameras are right there? Yes, ma'am. Even though the light is on right there? Yeah, the light means it's on. All right, cool. Thank you. Do you wish to >> You said 12:35? 35. 12:35, so you're just now reading me my Miranda rights after you had me over here for an hour. That's correct. Do you wish to answer any questions? >> you. That's all I had to know. I don't need to answer nothing. Okay. Thank you. That's all I had to answer. Do you understand what you're being charged with? Nope, sure don't. So, they DUI, child neglect, and resisting without violence, okay? No, I don't understand that at all. You got anything for me? Yeah, maybe she The night ended with a woman being charged with DUI with a passenger under 18, child neglect without great bodily harm, and resisting without violence. Number one. Mother doesn't even notice that her child is missing. On April 22nd, 2025, a local church called the police after finding a toddler wandering the street wearing only a diaper. The church kept the child safe until officers located the mother. Watch how she reacts when they confront her. Hello, I'm missing a child. Where my baby? Yeah, he's over here at the church. Is you serious? My little baby? Yeah. He didn't got out the back door. Yeah, uh My attorney, he he don't scare. >> Yeah, he's he's in a He's in a diaper. Oh my god, I got out the damn back door. The back door can't open though. Is y'all sure it's mine? Uh I mean Oh my god. Where he at? The my baby? So, the people who found him >> What's what's our attorney? Our attorney in this room got your TV. We had We had a call from somebody saying that either somebody here went to a Walmart or something. I don't know. I don't know. Everybody know I'm innocent. They said he was mad. Cuz they he out there always right here with them, but not without me. You hear somebody they got him in >> Yeah, here's the Yeah, they got him in the church, yeah. Uh-uh, he play all the time, so he hurt his hand. He out there. He got the back protect the back door. Yeah. Oh my god, my baby could have got out. They They they stopped him from getting to uh He said they said he started running towards Division. So. Is he still in there, Sherwin? [Music] I got there she was sleeping, so she was on the couch laying down. You'll have her for child endangerment all day. You have to? No, but like you know Yeah, so Yeah. The one lady I don't know if you took any statements from anybody. Okay, so I'll get statements for you. If you just want to handle her. One of them said I they had to stop him from getting to Division, running across Division. So yeah, I will take the statement from one of them and we'll go from there. Is it an NTA or Yeah, it's an NTA for child endangerment. The woman might be thinking she'll walk away from this without any trouble, but she's wrong. Yeah, if you just look up child endangerment ILCS, endangering the life and health of a child, that's it. So yeah, you want to go with her? [Applause] [Music] All right. [Music] [Music] YEAH. OKAY. [Music] SHE'S QUICK TO CALL THE OPEN DOOR a mistake, laying the blame on her older son. Yet the younger boy, desperate to protect himself, blurts out details that puts his mother in an even worse spot. Yeah. I'm 10-4. Okay, cuz it's got the child lock on it. Yeah. Proof's right there. All right, what's your name? Okay, what's your middle initial? S. [Music] All right, so you're you're saying that you were asleep, all the doors were shut and locked. So y'all were the doors were shut and locked and you think somebody opened the back door and he he walked out. Yeah. Okay. Based on what they've seen, the officer decides it's time to act, especially since her history shows this isn't the first incident. All right, ma'am. So So what's going to happen today is we're going to write I'm going to write up a notice to appear. Okay. For child endangerment, okay? So you're not going to be custodially arrested, okay? But you will have a court date and we're going to have to call DCFS cuz this isn't the first time as well that the kid has gotten out, okay? So I don't I don't know what your personal situation and solution to that problem is, but so we'll get get that paperwork ready for you, all right? And then I so you'll have a court date and then you can probably expect to have a DCFS probably call tomorrow, okay? All right. So I'll be right back with you, okay, Shawna? [Music] OKAY. OKAY. [Music] REAL QUICK. HER HUSBAND IS CLEARLY in distress, perhaps knowing what's at stake. But the officers can't ignore what happened. So you guys get together with your husband, figure things out about But I know, but he gets real busy right over there. No, I don't. All right, Shawna. So like I said what's Not as of right now. Okay. If if they uh If they send you a subpoena If they send you a subpoena and they'll they'll send him one too. If they if the state attorney determines that they need to talk to him as well. Is everything okay? No, he's he's the the baby's safe at home, everything. Um We I mean, I understand that children are will do what they do and they're they're hard to keep track of. But Yeah, I I understand. All right, so do not do not miss that court date, okay? Don't miss that court date or you can get a warrant, all right? So just make sure you make it to the Oh yeah, you have to you have to come up to get fingerprinted. Sometime soon. So hopefully today because because of the level of charge that it is. It's a it's a class A, so we have to get fingerprinted, okay? No change with that safety act. We're not going to take you from the kids today, but when you get time just let them know you need to be fingerprinted for a case and they'll They'll it'll take like 5 minutes. Though she won't be taken in, what happened is enough to open a DCF case and ensure there's documentation against her. It'll be pretty quick. You can go tomorrow in the Yep. I'm right in front. Okay. Okay. The woman was charged with endangering the life or health of a child. That's a wrap for today's video. Let me know your thoughts in the comments. And as always stay safe out there.
