These folks learned the hard way that you don't get squatters rights by squatting. You get criminal charges instead. Here are five cases when serial squatters think laws don't apply to them. Number five, squatters claim they've been paying rent, but the officers knew better. On February 10th, 2025 in Akran, Ohio, officers were called to investigate a reported squatter situation inside a home that was supposed to be empty. When officers arrive, the manager meets them out front and immediately walks them through the situation. >> So, what's going on with the house? I just represent the property manager. The property's in foreclosure. >> Okay. >> Um, so I just came out to check on it. I was here last week and nobody was here. >> Okay. >> So, I I don't know when they decided to move themselves in between last week, Monday. I think it was here Monday or Tuesday. And now, >> uh, so the four of them scattered that way through that back alley. There's there's a couple of them living in the garage, but there's still somebody in the house cuz when I yelled in the house, somebody answered, so I just didn't go in beyond that. >> Okay. >> Yeah. No, you're fine. Which door was open? >> They kicked the front door. >> Okay. Yeah. Seven. There's definitely someone still in this house. Yeah, seven. I'm waiting to check this house until I get another unit here. >> Police, if you're up there, come down with your hands up. Come down now. >> Slide over here. House >> is surrounded. Come down. There's nowhere to hide. I already heard you up there. Come down now. Hands up. >> Calm down. Who else is up there with you? >> I'm not sure. >> Calm down. >> Hands behind the back. Hands behind the back. >> Who's Who's up there with you? My room is right. >> Come down now. >> Hands up before you get in more trouble. >> Hands up on top of your head. Come down here. >> That's two down. But the officers don't know what's waiting in the rest of the house. With reports suggesting more people inside the residence, they proceed with caution. Sorry. >> Is there anybody else? >> Drop your phone. >> Come down now. >> Hands up. Stop right there. What are you doing here? >> I live here. >> Do you have a lease? >> No, I don't have a lease. >> So, how do you live here if you don't have a lease? I've >> been rent a lease in Ohio. I have mail. >> Why is the door kicked in? >> Put them together like a sit down. >> No one's supposed to be here. >> It doesn't matter. I have the landlord on site. >> Okay. Well, if that's the case, >> we're past that. >> Why didn't anybody ever come say anything? How long you guys? >> They need to check the upstairs. doesn't. >> Yeah. I mean, please. Anyone else out? here. Come out now. Multiple rooms. >> Do you want all the hallway? I'll check this bathroom first. >> The squatters insist they've been paying rent. But the scene tells a different story. The windows are covered, the front doors been kicked in, and multiple interior doors show clear signs of being forced open. Okay. Open headache. I'm going to move into this room. >> Okay. >> Echo. Police. If anybody's in here, make yourself known. >> All right. I'll go right if you want to. Everything with this closed door yet. [Applause] >> Uh you want to step back? We'll close this so we can open this one. >> I'll step this one maybe. >> All right. He's coming out. I got one coming out here. >> Hi. >> How you doing? >> Good. Can you step out here? >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> Come out. What's going on? What? What the? >> Put your hands on top of your head. >> Why didn't you answer when we were calling? >> I just walked up. >> Clearly, you could hear me shouting. >> Is he 13? Everyone's a 13 in this house. >> What's going on? >> You don't live here. >> Yeah, I do. >> This house is vacant. >> I've lived here since >> No one's supposed to be here. >> Why am I being arrested? >> Am I to clearly guess? >> Okay. Well, I I don't understand why. Pay rent. Pay rent. >> Who do you pay rent to? Cuz do you have a lease >> with this this friend of mine? Sarah. >> Yeah. Sarah doesn't own the house. >> No. >> She doesn't own the house. >> So, right now you guys are trespassing. >> Okay. >> Can I put some shoes on? >> Get some shoes. We're going to get you down. Shoes in here. >> Yeah. Okay. grab them for you. I stopped saying just >> your shoes there right at the end of the bed. Yes, sir. >> All right, I'll grab them for you if it's cool. >> With two men and two women already located, officers know there's still one more person unaccounted for. >> Hi. Come on out. >> Yeah, in a second. >> Yeah, but he needs to go in there in case there's another person. >> There is. All right. Go ahead and put your hands behind your back for me. >> So, we got a light or a 13 or >> shoes you which shoes do you want? >> Sir, walk the stairs. Which shoes do you want? >> The black pair won't grab. >> Is there anybody else in here? >> Um, like in the room? >> In the house? >> Oh, um, I don't know. >> Do you have any weapons or anything on you? >> No. Really? 27 over here. >> Following the full sweep of the property, officers now have five individuals in custody, three women and two men, all headed to the station for processing. >> So, it says you do have warrants. Were you aware of that? >> No. No. I have court on the 18th. >> Oh, please, please call them and see if they want me, please. Because I I just It's because of the not reporting and I don't live out here anymore. I just got out here today. >> Oh my goodness. Please, dude. I I still have 10 days before court. I can't go to jail again. I literally >> I just found out I was pregnant and I still have syphilis. I can't go to jail. I'll miss my treatment. [Music] Jesus Christ. How many times has shown up here? Who owns the house? I'd really like to be able to like talk to them. Like I thought this I' I've been paying rent since June. July. July. July. >> And now one of the male suspects speaks up. Listen closely to how he tries to explain his side of the story. >> Who have you been living with? >> Uh well, my girlfriend. Who's your girlfriend? The one that was just arrested. >> No, that's just a friend of mine. >> Okay. >> My girlfriend is in Florida right now. >> So, you pay rent here? >> Yeah. >> When's the last time you paid rent? >> Uh, just la uh behind a month, but yeah, last month. >> Last month. So, today's February, so you're talking January. January. >> I was paid up through. >> Do you have any way to prove that? No, no, no, no. >> Why? >> Because I paid cash. >> Who'd you pay it to? >> To Sarah. Sarah Black. >> Sarah Black. Do you have Sarah's phone number? >> Oh, yeah. On my phone. >> Okay. Your phone's upstairs in your room? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Who pays the utilities? >> I thought she was. >> How much you pay a rent? >> I pay $300 a month. $300. You rent just that room. >> Just one room. >> Everybody's out as far as >> Yeah, as far as I can tell. We No one checked the basement, but because he's I'm not going down there with the sewage pipe first. >> Just like the male suspect, one of the women claims the so-called landlord gave her permission to stay and even collected rent. But the officer had heard this before and he's not convinced. >> Who owns the home? um >> why you're in there. >> Well, >> and if a crime has actually been committed. >> No, there's been no crime committed. Um >> well, if you're not supposed to be there, then you're trespassing. >> Correct. You're you're absolutely correct. I I was unaware that I was trespassing because of the person that allowed us to start staying here in the first place. >> Okay. her name is um Sarah Stack and uh she was living here and she ended up having to go to Power Street and some other stuff and um you know I just I've been here taking care of the house like trying to keep it together. The sub pump exploded in the basement so I was trying to do some work with that. Um me and a friend of mine were looking into buying the landlot if we could uh potentially talk to the owner and see if he was willing to sell or what. But really, I was really on my way back out to Cleveland because I have to like move home with my mother. She's having a really hard time right now providing for my little sister. I do have a minor like court thing going on out here though that I have court on the 18th and um I just so happen to be out here a little earlier than the 18th so that I make sure that I'm actually in court because I cannot afford to miss court again. I do not want any more warrants. I do not want to spend any time in the county. Um, I don't really know much about the logistics of anything else of the house other than I was staying here under Sarah's stack. She's not here anymore and I wasn't planning on being here anymore either. That's why we have the house like getting ready to get get up out of there today. I don't know if you noticed, but it's like pretty bare on the inside. >> Back inside, officers and the property manager finished clearing the space, documenting damage, and making sure no one's left behind. >> This is the unfortunate part about owning properties. Well, I don't own them, but the people that do own them, >> you know, I don't know what they're gonna end up doing with this, but this house was beautiful. So, was the >> the same guy that's foreclosing on the or that's losing these houses through bankruptcy owns like three houses in a row over on Moon like 654, 658, and 70 or something. >> I was just over there. Somebody did the same. There was nobody there. They broke in the side door. I mean, smashed all the stuff. These houses were like turnkey finish, ready to sell. Uh they smashed in all the door over there, stole all the appliances for whatever reason. Broke all the cabinet doors off >> in the kitchen. >> Um and then stole a bunch of all the sinks to smash all the sinks to steal the faucets. >> Wow. >> Like how stupid can you That faucet's worth two bucks. Three max. >> It cost a not do that to that space heater upstairs. There's a cell phone right behind you. >> I saw that. Tell me about the house here. What's going on with it? >> I have it. We lived here for months. >> No one's ever came here saying we had to get out. >> It's been in foreclosure for over a year. >> We paid the uh internet and electric bill. >> What about heat? >> The heat's off right now. >> Electric bill. If I call Edison and ask them about this house, are they going to say it's supposed to be in a shut off mode? >> No. >> Cuz the tag's been removed. So, it's been t The box has been tampered. >> Mhm. No, they're going to say it's supposed to be in some we just >> That's odd cuz then that there'd be a gray tag on the box. >> I don't know. >> Looks like it's been tampered with >> done the thing online like where the thing is the receipt where they come out and turn the service on and stuff. >> With the suspects in custody, officers now turn to the property manager. It's his call on how to move forward from here. >> What do you guys want done? Do you want charges crossed? and whatever charges you guys can press against him, breaking an enter, whatever. I don't care. I I mean, to me, I'd say cut him loose, but the reality of it is if you do that, they'll be back in here in 3 hours and I'm going to have to call you back tomorrow. Come do the same. >> Yeah. >> But that's I would say if they were going to be honest about let him go away. >> But I know you know if you let him go in 3 hours, we're going to have the same conversation. >> Okay. And you said that the door was kicked in. When did the door get kicked in? >> Listen, I was at the door was fine when I got here. >> When did you get here? >> Yesterday. Literally last night. And the door was fine when I >> What time did you get here? >> We're separated. So I'm like extremely anxious all the time. >> I gota Okay. So 4:00 yesterday, you called the door's fine. >> Yes. Yeah. >> Okay. And now the door's kicked in, >> I think. Well, okay. So what it is is the door was kicked in like a while ago back when the police came in the first place. like uh when I got arrested here. I believe they kicked the door in. >> But you just said the door was fine when you got >> No, no. Yeah, I'm I'm trying to explain that to you. I fixed the door when I very first came back from jail to get my initial like belongings that were still here after I got arrested here. >> I fixed the door. I did put like four new nails in it and try to like >> get it together like on the wall, but I'm not, you know what I mean? I didn't have like any major materials. So, I just like literally threw some nails in there to keep the frame up on the one side. >> Okay. So, the last time you were here, >> it was a little wonky. It wasn't exactly. Yes. It wasn't exactly like perfect. >> When would you say that that was? >> When I I just I just went to jail like um the 13th I think of last month. >> January. >> Yeah. >> I just talked to the energy company and there this power has been off for a year. It's not supposed to be on. There's no active accounts. So between you guys having the door kicked in, the the power is not supposed to be on, no active heat, you say you guys don't live here. No one is supposed to be here. You guys are all being charged with criminal trespassing. Don't count. All your stuff's getting tossed out. You have no no right to be in the property. >> The reality is finally setting in. None of them expected to be arrested. And now that they are, the panic is starting to show. >> Everyone's getting arrested. So that that's what we're doing. >> I'm really like I can't I can't go back to county. I can't go back to county. I did not know that they were trespassing. Like I I live in Cleveland. I don't need to be here. I can leave right now. >> But you were here. >> But I didn't know I was trespassing. I had an agreement with Sarah Stack. She's staying in that apartment building right there. The red brick building next to the Thomas Todd W. Young building. >> So, you know that that's what court is for? >> No, I But how am I supposed to know when she said she was the landlord here? Like, I wasn't I'm not even living here anymore. I just came back to help clean. Please let me talk to the property manager. I can't go to jail. Please, sir. Listen. Please listen. I have syphilis. I'm pregnant. I have court on February 18th with Judge Allison Broau. I do not need any more trouble. I was not trying to be here any longer than today. I wasn't even staying here tonight. >> Listen to me. Relax. >> I I can't go to jail. >> Can I talk? Can I talk for two seconds? All of this that you're telling me is what court is for. Okay. We're We got a call that there are several people in this house that are trespassing, not supposed to be here. The property manager is the one who called us. Okay? They listen to me. They want to see charges for criminal trespassing. So, that's what we're doing. That's what we listen. That's what we have to do. If you had some separate arrangements, you had agreements with other people. That's what court is for. You're going to see a judge in less than 24 hours. I know, but they're going to hold me in jail because I have court on the 18th. Like, it's not just a ticketable offense. >> Why would they hold you? >> Because why wouldn't they hold me? >> In the end, all individuals were charged with criminal trespassing. Number four, squatters discover the hard way they can't stay. Once again in Ohio, officers responded to a landlord's call for help, claiming squatters had taken over his property, and the situation had gotten beyond his control. Here's what officers walk into when they arrive. >> Walk in all day long. Hi, >> this is the landlord. This is her. >> I'm just the neighbor. I saw it. >> Oh, those are people. They're not supposed to get there. No, they >> He lives far out of town. >> It was locked. It was everything I could do to get up there before I got my knee and my ankle spoke out. >> So, it's upstairs. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I just seen her at 506. Seriously. >> But there is someone supposed to be living in there. No. >> Okay. No. All right. >> No. And they they had to have broke in because the door was locked. And uh I went up there and like I said, it was all I could do to get up there. But I got up there and checked it. The door was locked. I said, "Well, there's nobody in here." And u I didn't have a key with me. Well, I went up there or I came in here and found him. Uh, my brother called me and >> he's my landlord. His brother. >> Yeah. Keith Keith here had seen him. >> Why are here? >> I don't know. Um, that's Larry's brother. But he had seen him. He was here when I was here. And I told her, I said, "You've got to leave." I said, "You can't go in on someone's property and just move in. It's called squatting, you know. And she said, "Okay, I'll get out there." >> So, I drove back. I live on the other side of London, Derek. And I was almost home. My wife called me and said that uh Shay had called my brother and my brother had called her and said that uh how you doing? Good. How are you? And said that uh they're still up there and they were cooking something and I thought >> she's selling something out of here cuz she's got people pacing. I took video of that when I seen her looking down the window. >> Robert, my middle name >> stuff, you know. I don't know what it is, but >> all right. >> But she tried every way she's good to stay. And I said, "No, you got to go." >> Do you have a key with you or no? >> No, I don't. >> Are she has a door locked? You wants to go in? >> Yes. >> Without a key, the landlord gives the officers permission to breach the entry if necessary. If no one answers the door, they're cleared to take it down. Crazy. >> I'll get I'll get the guy. >> Yeah, their health. >> Their health is really good. >> They're not supposed to be here. >> Nope. No one's supposed to be here. >> 25 ac. [Music] >> I got lethal. You told us that you were out for the couch out of >> what? You guys aren't supposed to be here. >> He just left. We were just left. >> No, he's still here. >> He's still here. >> No one's supposed to be living here. >> No, he knows. He knows that we're not sure. >> Arguments are coming out willingly. >> I just talked to him. I'm waiting on my uncle to get here to take the couch out. I just brought my stuff out on the porch. >> All right. Well, go down. >> Excuse me. Let me make Yeah, I'm Hit it. >> Yeah. Thank you. >> Sean, are you SH or SE? >> Sh. >> What's your last name, Sean? >> What's your step? >> I was just waiting for the couch to get moved out. He told me to make sure that everything got >> What's up with all that all those foils and stuff up there? >> I don't know stuff. I was here trying She was talking about renting place. I'm here trying to rent a place. >> I can't do it by myself. Yeah, that's what I'm >> You just got here right before. >> Did she already get your info? >> Yes, >> literally. >> Now that the man and woman have exited the residence, officers proceed with reading them their rights and getting their side of the story. >> I can't [Music] read your rights. Okay. You have the right to remain silent. Is your body camera? >> Yep. >> Okay. You have the right to remain silent for both of you. Okay. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can or will be against you in the court of law. You have the right to talk to an attorney. Have him or her present with you while you're being questioned. If you can't offer hire an attorney, won't be appointed to represent you at any time. You exercise your rights to not answer any questions or make any statements. You understand how much apply to >> So with your rights in mind, do you want to talk to me? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Okay. >> Can we speak with you? >> Yeah. Okay. >> I'm just >> So what's your story? >> Uh I come here talking about wanting to rent a place. He knows a guy downstairs and they told me that they bought the place. >> I lied. I lied to him. >> Okay. >> I told him that I found the door open. >> How'd you open it? I I was brought here by a friend and the girl that was staying here said that her crap let her stay up there. >> That wasn't the question. How did you get the door open? >> I'm sorry. >> So, how was how'd the door get open? >> That was a lie. I didn't find the door. It was a friend that brought us here. >> Yeah, but how did who opened it? >> I have no idea. >> Somebody lived here. >> There was someone living here and they said that we could stay here and all that. That's no lie. >> That really is no lie. But they I'm not sure, man. >> Well, like I said, I went and got that's why I got a check now. I thought that they was renting the place out. He told me that if we wanted to stay up there, get the rent money, we can stay up there. I said, "Okay." >> So, you have rent money with you? >> Yeah. >> Is that what that check is? >> Yes, ma'am. >> This doesn't even belong to you. This belongs to this. >> I know that class act school cosmology that was wrote to me for March's rent. I'm holding on to that. >> That's fine. >> You know, I told you that I found the door open. >> Yeah. >> Even though I started staying there cuz I just lost my twins and I was trying to get him back. >> Yeah. >> And that I was helping Larry down here clean the outside of his house, which I have, and the inside because nobody else around him couldn't help. >> This isn't the first time the landlord has had to deal with unwanted occupants. But today, he's drawing the line. >> And I've dealt with this. This is the third time I've had someone try to come in and squat. By the time I got here, they' broken out every window. The door was torn off the hinges and they went in and they rented it all up. Which and in the process of that, they had destroyed the whole building, the whole upper section in the front. Then the same gentleman, Mr. gentleman came in and went in and kicked out the client that was in the back. >> Yeah, I remember that. >> All right. So, let's focus on today. >> We're on this. >> All right. So, yeah, let's focus on today. So, you do one for two charges. >> Yes. >> All right. All right. You both are under arrest for burglary. >> Burglary? >> What? >> Oh, no. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. >> You got to listen to it. >> Put your hands behind your back right now. >> Sir, will you come down? >> Sir, you are making a huge mistake. My god. What the >> What about the guy that let us in there? >> No. Where's Cheyenne at? Get over here. >> Do not fight the police. >> I didn't I don't deserve >> I don't I don't know why. >> Don't even move around. That's not clear. >> That's fine. >> I'm stewing. >> Can I say something? >> Not the guy that let us in the apartment, bro. >> Yeah. >> Can you guys get him out here? This is >> This is wild right here. >> He doesn't have anything to say. He's a >> Yes, ma'am. But this guy let us in there. >> That's not his apartment. >> Go ahead and drop that, buddy. Go ahead and drop your vape zone, not upstairs. >> Okay. What about the lady that let us in the apartment? Cheyenne, it said the case was dropped. >> Cheyenne the red hair girl. >> You know, Cheyenne. >> They said they paid for this. Can I get my stuff sir? >> Yeah, I'll get it. Yeah, we got to go through it anyway. Is there anything in there? >> Wow. >> So, incident incident to arrest. I got to go through all your bags. >> You got my check, my the rent money I had, and everything. >> Yeah. Incident to arrest. I got to go through your bags. Is there anything in there? I'd rather you just tell me now, bro. There's nothing you want though. >> Okay. >> At all. >> Um, can I uh I want to speak with um somebody real quick too and give you guys my uh social take my social. >> The evidence speaks for itself, but that doesn't stop the man from rattling off a list of justifications. >> Yeah. Well, she's got enough to go ahead and arrest you. I can figure out your social. >> Can I say something about >> me in there? You guys just left and they just took me in there. I don't even know them people. >> You don't even know the girl. >> No. Oh, who's the girl? >> I'm trying to rent the place. That's I know the girl. Yeah, but that I'm trying to rent the place. >> Okay. You want to rent up there? >> I know that. You don't want to rent that. >> I already know that. >> Is he good? >> Fell down the stairs. >> I've got to have a knee replacement, ankle replaced. >> Yeah. Right into the car, too. I'm sure uh body sports will get you. >> We didn't break in. We was brought here by somebody. We did not break in. You guys don't know who that person is. >> Yeah, I do. >> You just told me you didn't know who it was. >> Oh, I know who it is. >> Well, then who is it? >> Cheyenne. >> That doesn't help me much. >> You know who Cheyenne is? >> I'm not I'm not No, I'm not doing this. >> I don't know who >> there's a thousand Cheyens in Chocoli. >> With red hair. >> Maybe there's five. I don't know. What's her last name? >> Um, Embodium. Bambodium. >> Embodian. Yeah, that's who I that's that's my boyfriend. He brought me here saying that she was going to let us spend the night. >> So he knows her. >> Yeah, >> she told him. How'd she tell him? >> Yeah. How did she How did she tell him? She was just here right moments before you guys before he showed up. >> So she told him in person he can go in there. >> Yeah. >> Or she text him or call him or >> I don't know. She might have been having with him. I don't know. >> That's your man? >> Yeah. I'm actually in the process of leaving him because he's a loser. Hey, >> can I speak with you? >> This guy is trying to Hey, >> what >> I did? I just went in upstairs, right? >> Yeah. >> And I got a thing to for rent and everything. He's trying to get charges with burglary. >> 77. >> Will you please go speak with me, please? >> I got I give him my social and everything. Listen, listen. >> Hey, the female that's arresting you, placing you under arrest as a sergeant. Okay. She's a supervisor, so she's well aware of what she's doing. Okay. So, we're going to move forward here and then we can talk about it in a little bit. All right. He says he understands, but his next words reveal that he doesn't grasp why officers are even there, let alone why he's in cuffs. >> Here, just get out of traffic. >> For now, you need to >> I don't want to I don't want to though. You guys are going against my right. You come on private property. That's private property. >> Stop. You are under. >> You are under arrest. We have a call for this. Okay. >> I know, but you guys, we're going to stop our conversation. We can speak to the supervisor in just a minute. Okay. >> Just have a seat for me. Okay. >> All right. Hey, can I ask you a question though, please? Listen to me. I'm get I'm get the supervisor over here. What's your What's your social? >> So, what's Cheyenne have to do with all this? >> She's the one that let us stay here. >> I'm saying what's she have to do with the place? >> The dude downstairs. >> So, no one's supposed to be in the top apartment at all. Right. >> The dude downstairs told her she can stay upstairs. >> We come here. The landlord says no one's supposed to be in renting that apartment. We go in. Her and Sha Lines are inside. Other story is Cheyenne was the one actually in there who let them in. >> But now bring right here. She'll tell you. >> I don't know where she is. >> Oh, >> what apartment does the guy >> The only truth we have is what we actually saw the front door >> is as it is. >> Yeah, that guy that guy just gave me 10 different socials. So >> I dealt with my own career. >> So they got checks from somewhere. Yeah, at the class act school of cosmetology on uh Main Street. >> This is what's really upsetting me, man, about this whole situation, man. >> He he caught him in there knowingly remain didn't call us and then gave him a chance to leave. >> I'll I'll take care of the report and stuff. Really want the arrest, but >> I'll take him. >> You mean just transport? >> Yeah, I'll transport him. I'll go ahead and go. >> Why are they all still out, man? I can't breathe. I can't breathe, man. Like, I don't know what the they're wanting from me, dude. Like, what did I do? Honestly, I don't understand this stuff. I guarantee there's going to be here. With the cuffs on and the door shut, you'd think things would settle down, but he's not ready to let it go. >> I am. >> Yeah. >> Hey, can I um >> How did you get your cuffs in front of you? Did Is that where I put them? >> Yeah. >> No. >> Hey, um can I ask you a question, though? >> Look, bro, I put those behind you for a reason. I have a policy that says there's got to be >> a breathing thing on my with my chest. For real. >> Okay. Well, I have a policy that says I can be fired for you having them in front of you. >> I'm sorry. I didn't know, bro. I apologize. I really didn't know that. >> Okay. >> Hey. Where's your ID? >> I don't have one. >> As a standard safety measure, officers have their weapons ready when entering unknown situations. But the man inside uses that very precaution as a reason to deny them entry. And from here, things only get complicated. >> All unlock the door, bro. No, HE JUST HAD A GUN POINTED AT ME. >> CUZ WE DON'T KNOW WHAT we're dealing with. >> SO THAT'S OKAY FOR Y'ALL TO POINT A GUN AT PEOPLE. >> I'M SCARED FOR MY LIFE. I'M LETTING YOU KNOW RIGHT NOW. At this point, compliance could have ended the encounter peacefully. Stop. I'M SCARED FOR MY LIFE. SIT DOWN. I'M SCARED. GRAB MY PHONE. THERE'S SOMEONE ON THE PHONE. THERE'S SOMEONE ON THE PHONE. I WANT TO BE ABLE TO TALK TO THEM. I WANT TO BE ABLE TO TALK TO MY PEOPLE ON THE PHONE. I WANT TO BE ABLE TO TALK TO MY PEOPLES. I want to be able to grab MY PHONE ON THE BED. STOP. THERE'S NO WHY. But getting the suspect to settle down enough to talk is easier said than done. >> If you want me to leave, just leave. >> But I don't know if you're supposed to be here. I'm trying TO FIGURE THAT OUT. >> I'M TELLING YOU, I DON'T KNOW. I'M LETTING YOU KNOW STRAIGHT UP. I DON'T KNOW. So, now when I when I was coming to talk to you, >> YOU HAD A GUN POINTED AT MY I'M SCARED. I'M TELLING YOU. >> I HAVE MY GUN OUT BECAUSE YOU can pull my gun away. >> After a few tense moments, the suspect begins to settle down just enough for officers to finally explain what's happening and ask him some basic questions. I have to uh >> in the in the in the IN THE IN THE BATHROOM. I'VE BEEN SHOWERING HERE EVERY DAY. WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? >> IT'S CLEARLY ABANDONED. >> You have ID on you by any chance? >> No, I don't. >> You don't have any kind of ID? >> I don't have any ID. >> What's your last name? >> I'm not saying that. >> So, here's the issue, unfortunately. So, you're in a house that you don't own and you don't have any record of being here on paper. So, technically, you're trespassing. Okay. So, what this officer is trying to do is identify who you are because technically right now when we find out more, you could be under arrest for trespassing. Okay. Trying to find your information. Trying to confirm who you are. Trying to confirm you're supposed to be here. If we can confirm you're supposed to be here, then you'll be good to go. >> I just said I just said I just said I don't know if I'm supposed to be here or not. My cousin I just said to him when he asked me my cousin said I could come stay here. That was it. >> That was it. >> Does your cousin own the house? >> I don't know. She just said I could come stay here. She knows my services. She knows I don't have a home. She knows that social services has literally rejected me for everything I asked for. And if you don't believe me, there's papers in the back of my book bag to show proof that I have been rejected for everything. >> If you're supposed to be in here, why was the door looked like it was forced in before I came in? >> Sign up. You're under arrest. >> For what? >> Trespassing. Stand up. I don't want to hurt you. So, stand up. >> Sign up. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Am I going to be able to get my property or you guys just going to throw it out? >> Is your property supposed to be in here? >> I don't, like I said, I don't know. EVERYTHING IN THERE IS MINE. >> Can I have my phone? Don't get it first. You want shoes? >> He's heading to the cruiser now, but he hasn't run out of things to say just yet. >> There's two phones on the bed, and both of them are mine. Can I have them? >> Can you grab the phones for them, please? >> An Android and an iPhone. >> An Android and an iPhone, please. >> There's a laptop and stuff here, too. Is that yours? >> Yes. >> I'm not yelling at you, right? >> This is how I talk. This is how I talk. This is how I've been talking since I was young. You can ask my mom. Call her up right now if you'd like. >> I'll bring them. >> All right. >> No, no. We'll we'll handle that. >> Okay. >> So, what's your last name? >> I'm not telling you. >> I'll get some rest for hindering as well. >> Hindering what? >> You don't have to get your hand, >> bro. >> All right. Y'all can rack up the charges. You was going to do it anyway. >> You're snob as for what? Why are you so snob for in jail? We're going to learn who you are. You're resisting arrest. No, I'm not. I'm coming with you. I'm coming with you. >> STOP. STOP. IT'S MY BABE. HE KNOWS THAT. >> ALL RIGHT. Just give it to me. >> He saw it LIKE THREE AT A TIME. WHY ARE YOU GRABBING me like that? >> Let's go. >> Why are you grabbing me like that? >> You can't try to lie. Okay. >> I'm not trying to lie about anything. You just grab me hard as you. >> Exactly. So why you say you didn't? >> I didn't say I didn't say grab. >> You said it's all on camera. I didn't lie about Why are you going to have me step into? I have no shoes. I have no shoes on. You're trying to have me step in that you search >> yet? No, not yet. >> God, spray your lights for me, please. >> Things are already tense, but the arrival of a neighbor shouting from across the street escalates the situation once again. At the same time, the officer makes an unsettling discovery while patting the suspect down. >> Hold on to this for a sec. >> YOU STOLE MY BIKE. YOU'RE THE PIECE OF CRAP. >> YES, YOU DID. >> YES, YOU DID. YO, YOU DID. YES, you did. >> Shut up. You're getting arrested. >> Shut up. >> This is why this is why I CUT MY HAIR. >> OKAY. >> YEAH. >> HE'S GOT A KNIFE on him, doesn't he? >> IT'S SCISSORS. THAT'S NOT A KNIFE. >> HOLD ON. >> OH, THERE. >> What's this? >> WEAPON. >> NO, IT'S NOT A WEAPON. I CUT MY HAIR. GO CHECK THE BATHROOM. >> THAT'S FOR CROCHETING. ARE YOU STUPID? >> YEAH. So he's going to have to contact the the people that own the building. >> So this guy has been saying >> So this guy also trespass. >> Is your camera on in there? >> Yeah, it should be on >> cuz this is on. >> Yeah, it's been on. >> THEY'RE LITERALLY CROCHET NEEDLES. LOOK IT UP. >> YEAH, it's on. >> THEY'RE LITERALLY CROCHET NEEDLE. >> All right, I'm just going to head in 105. [Applause] 41 in custody. [Applause] >> Yes. Excuse me. [Applause] >> When it's all said and done, the man walked away from the scene with multiple charges, including obstruction, hindering apprehension, and defiant trespass. Number two, woman chooses arrest over simply walking away. In Dayton, Ohio, officers responded to a call from an emergency shelter after staff reported a woman refusing to leave despite being asked multiple times. Here's how they handled the situation. >> What do we got? She's out there. >> Yeah, I already talked to her. >> What the heck is your problem? >> She allowed to do that. >> You want just trespass for the evening? >> No. >> Mayor, >> we're just going to trespass her for the evening. >> You want us to just trespass her name? I adise you now. >> Go. >> Now trespass from here. If you go back, you keep moving that way. You're going to go to jail. >> Okay. Go this way. >> No. >> No. You got to go that way. >> They said I got to go that way. >> No, please go that way. >> They told me I got to go that way. >> No, you got to go that way. >> All right. You need to walk all the way out to that road. >> See that stop sign? You have to go past that stop sign. >> No, you're not getting it. Go that way. >> Okay. Now, I'm going to walk with you. I really don't want to take you to jail for something stupid. Okay. As of now, it's only 24 hours. It's just a day. You come back tomorrow night. >> Okay. aren't going to jail as of now. I need you to stay off the property for 24 hours. Do you understand that? >> Yes. >> Okay. She's told she can't return for 24 hours or she'll face arrest. But with the way she's acting, it's obvious she's not planning to let things go just yet. Okay, hop on that sidewalk and just go straight that way. Don't Please do not come back for 24 hours. >> No. >> All right, >> go that way. See that hospital over there? >> They told me to go this way. >> No, you have to go that way. >> They told me to go. >> I'm telling you to go that way right now or else to jail. >> You see that over there? Don't touch it. Are you not getting it? >> I have a feeling we're going to be back out here. >> Go that way. >> No. Turn around and walk that way. >> They told me to go this way. >> You're going to go to jail. You're going to go to jail. >> Turn around right now. This is your last opportunity. >> They told me to go this way. >> This is your last opportunity. We are going to walk all the way to the sidewalk over here. >> My arm. >> I'm grabbing your arm cuz you're going to walk on the sidewalk. >> My arm. That's That's on you. At this point, you're going to walk on the sidewalk. You're not going to come back at this property. Okay. You are trespassed from here for 24 hours. You cannot come back. If you come back, if you walk towards this way, I am going to take you to jail. This is your last opportunity. Walk that way. >> This point, it might be faster just to type it. I'll just go back. She's walking back. >> Yep, she's back. At this point, there's no talking her down. The officers move forward with the arrest. >> How you doing? >> Wait, she's coming. We'll just take her to jail. >> We're waiting for her to walk back closer to her cars. We're just going to take her to jail. We just We just You want me to use your information or hers? Hers. You just kind of want her to go to jail for a night pretty much. >> Yeah. >> Okay. I'm not going to bother like >> Yeah, we was not trying to We were just trying to trespass her for 24 hours. Okay. She just can't stay here. >> All righty. Well, we're going to take her. So, see you guys. >> You, too. >> Okay. You want I got it. What are you resisting OB now? >> She was literally She's trying everything she had to get away from him. >> Hey, Dylan. You're going to break your hand. >> I guess we'll tighten that one up. >> Now, even the officers are left wondering, are her strange actions deliberate, or is something deeper going on medically or mentally? What is up with these people wanting to slip up? >> She's literally still trying to walk. >> Yeah. >> Stop. Just stop. >> We're going to bl the car now. We got to get that back. >> Hold. Come on. We're just going to walk. This is ridiculous. I didn't even want to take you to jail. >> They paid us for big bucks. >> Oh, yeah. >> Do you have your knife on you? >> Yeah. >> That bag's just getting cut off. She'll freak out like trusting it. >> Oh, she might have a clasp. >> Oh, it does have a class. >> Do you want to take her with me? I don't care to type it. >> If if you want obstruction stuff, you're going to have to do a solid. >> I'll just type it in. >> No, I'll type it. >> Or you can just tell me what happened out here. I don't really care. >> Pat down now. Make sure you got no weapons on. You got anything in your bra? No pockets on that, Sus. >> Okay. >> Yo, sit back in there. Oh my god. Okay. Whatever composure the officer's had is slipping. And it's clear even they're caught off guard by how odd she's acting. >> Golly, dude, that's just so extra. >> Like all the silent, dude. Silent resisting. I had her hands behind her back and like fuller hold and she's like trying to bring him forward the entire time, too. >> Her veins were freaking popping out of her her wrist. She was trying so hard. Well, what's the point? What are we doing here? Take her to grand. >> What do you think about a welcome home party? >> What do you need? >> You going to use it at the jail? No, you're not going to use a bathroom vaccine like cruiser. >> All right, I'm going to get her down quick. [Music] >> Dude, she peed. She definitely does. >> Did she say I did? >> Yeah. She's like, I'm peeing myself. God bless America. >> The officers haven't even finished deciding their next steps when the woman starts acting out, making things harder than they need to be. Are you you're just doing uh obstruction resisting and trespass? >> They said they don't even want to order in. >> So, I mean, >> you still got a charger with it. >> Yeah, I'll just I'll just technically order him in and call him back and tell [Applause] >> use the bathroom. >> I got to use the bathroom. >> I got to use the bathroom. On November 27th, 2024, officers in Davenport, Florida, responded to a call from a property manager who claimed he found a woman illegally occupying a home he'd been hired to repair. Here's what they walked into. >> The door unlocked back here. >> Now, the door in the front I can get in. I got the keys. I got the keys to the top. >> Okay. >> I think those are screwed. They should be screwed shut unless somebody's already kicked it open. >> All right. Oh yeah. Not that apartment anymore. Are they all empty? That's what they're all empty. >> Is this entire building vacant? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Check that apartment there. Check a few apartments in here. Where's far? Couple doors right here. We got lady here. Nice. Was it? Is that back door locked? >> The search doesn't last long and the officers quickly locate the woman staying inside. >> Hey. You probably could have just given me a piece of paper. >> Reports say that the suspect broke in by piling items to reach a window. Now, before transporting her, the officer sweeped the home to confirm she's alone. >> I don't have a NAME. I DON'T WANT ONE. >> WELL, YOU DO HAVE A NAME. >> NO, I DON'T. I DON'T WANT A NAME. And then she said some guy let her in here, villa or whatever. Grab a flashlight and finish clearing this building cuz I don't know if there's nobody else in there. >> Yeah, that's we're just getting ready to start working on these. >> Hey, you want to unlock this again? >> Yeah. I'm like, "Yeah, this is definitely not the >> We uh we found her in the closet and I won and I was like, "What's your name?" She says, "Tella." I go, "Tell what?" She was like, "I don't have a last name." >> Yeah. Guy in there in this apartment while I was naked. I was like, and you guys said you force. I'm like, "I'm not hearing any talk, so I'm definitely in the wrong building then." >> Yeah. Well, that's >> He's like, "There's an apartment one over in the other building." I was like, "All right, we'll see." Just a few rooms left. And once they're cleared, officers can finally close out the scene. >> Huh? >> Clear. >> Check these rooms here. >> Yeah, she was sleeping in like a closet like this downstairs. >> Okay, that's better. >> And then there's And she's like, "Somebody let me in name Bella." >> Bella. >> I think she kept saying Bella. I think I think that's what she was saying. Bella or something. >> Okay. >> And I said, "What's your She said, "Tella." I was like, "Okay, now we're now we're being silly." Yeah. She was in here. Look at this little spot she was sleeping in. She was curled up right there. >> And then she starts to leave and turns she turns into him. The other, you know, they got him out there and >> and she's like, he's like, "You ain't leaving." And then she starts freaking fighting him. I'm like, "Great. Uh, we tried to get downstairs, but this is all busted. And >> you think you think there's a way to get in from another side or >> it's all screwed. It's all screwed shut. >> Ah, so we should should >> I don't know. He probably left off somewhere. I don't think he's in here anymore. >> There's a guy here. >> Well, they saw a guy jump through the window >> and we found her in here. So, maybe they just had the wrong Maybe they saw the wrong person. I guess the city's been on them about the garbage in the yards. So, we came up to do that and then I seen that person going through the window. So, I'm going to go in and I'm going to screw all the window shut. Not that that's going to stop them. >> It'll uh they'll just kick the window in, but they're paying me to do the work on them, so I'm going to do it, you know. >> Absolutely. So, you saw her go through that window over there. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Was it her or was that house? >> It I thought it was a black guy. It was probably the hat and the coat pulled up. Oh, >> you have any luck trying to figure out who she is. >> No, no, she's uh >> still Squirly. >> She's 96, I think. Um, >> yeah. Doesn't have a name. Uh, said that she wants and >> it's not often officers are caught off guard, but the woman's behavior has done just that. >> Well, I'll let the jail figure out who she is if they can. and otherwise wanted to just book her as Jane Doe. And then >> um so >> what you kept saying that guy's name was Villa >> Villa or something was the one letter and I go what's your name? She goes tella. I like okay. >> I go what's your last name? He goes that's my whole name. I don't I don't have I don't go by I don't have a date of birth or something. And then she starts to leave and turns right into you and then No, no, you get, you know, and then starts flailing arms trying to hit you. And >> so what we want to do? We want to do Solomon peace officer or you want to do >> interference solo? >> No injury. I'm good. >> Um I'll >> Yeah. So So Solomon peace officer cuz she was swinging at you and trying to hit you. Yep. >> And then uh interference. >> Yep. Uh, I guess she wasn't formally trespassed, but I mean, she should have known she don't belong in there. I mean, >> yeah, they had to break in, so >> they had her climb through the window, so you know, you're clearly trespassing. >> Yep. Let's do it. >> Yeah, >> I'm good with those three. >> Okay, brother. >> All right, man. >> I'll I'll let the jail know. They can drag her out of there and deal with it. >> And uh yeah, if they reach out to you or dispatch once they find out who it is, just let them know. And >> yeah, I'll try to figure it out down there. >> I'll add her to it. Thank you. All right. Thanks, bro. Her attitude doesn't shift once she's brought in. If anything, it only reinforces what officers dealt with earlier. >> You're sick. Want to talk somebody. You're nasty. You're disgusting. Somebody's body. Nasty. Touch somebody. You don't want to be touched. Huh? Why? They have ways to be touched. SHOULD YOU TOUCH SOMEBODY? >> Slow down. >> You're nasty. YOU'RE CROWN. NO ONE TOUCHED. It's still touching them.
