Stop. >> Get on the ground now. >> I got to steal any phone. >> Good lord. Did you go to the school of giving people a hard time or what? >> Yes, sir. >> Yeah. I mean, you you're doing a great job, but you're still going to go to jail. >> Stealing is already crossing the line. But acting like you've done nothing wrong takes it even further. Watch what happens when cops shut down the worst entitled shoplifterss. This repeat shoplifter didn't expect police to show up at her job. On February 15th, 2025, officers responded to a case involving an alleged habitual shoplifter. Target reported that the woman had allegedly returned to the store more than 18 times, taking merchandise on each visit. With a warrant in hand, officers [music] tracked her down at work. Here's what happened next. >> Howdy. How you doing today? >> Good. How are you guys? >> Good. Good. here. >> Um, um, yeah, she is upstairs by herself. >> She's not someone right now. >> Can um, >> yeah, of course. >> Thank you. >> Hi. >> Hi. >> Are you guys? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Um, want to go somewhere a little private? >> Uh, we need to go this hallway. Sure. Okay, good. Sorry. It's all opened everywhere. So, and our AC is broken. So, we're going to take >> It's going to be hot in here, too. >> That's fine. I just I'm trying to spare whatever here. So, place arrest. >> Me? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Oh my goodness. >> For grand theft from theft from Target. >> So, there's 10 to 18 different times that you have found a Target and paid for items and then did not pay for items and they all hear you all in video and photos and all of that. So right now we are here because you have we have PC3 arrests. >> Okay. >> So >> So what does what do I like? Can you just kind of tell me what to do while we do this? >> Yeah. So I'm telling you that right now I'm >> I'm don't want to embarrass you in front of your company. So I'm trying to be nice here about it. >> Of course. >> Um but I would have to put you in handcuffs, put you in the back of my car >> to walk out. Can I walk to your car and then you put me in? >> Yeah, we can do that. >> Is that okay? >> Just once you don't run away or anything like that. We have to I have to say it because we've had runners before. >> Oh, I'm sure. Of course, um you go down to the jail, you get fingerprinted, booked, all that stuff, and then you can call and get a bond and then you could be released as early as tonight or tomorrow. You have to see a judge within 24 hours. So, um that's what I know. Yeah. >> So, I can't call anybody now. I'm just I'm not trying to do anything beyond this. >> With nearly $3,000 in alleged losses, this is far from a minor shoplifting case. Still, the officers give the woman a chance to make things easier on herself. >> And my kids >> Oh, yeah. >> I I do have kids. >> Yeah, I I did go to your house. Uh your son's homeick with the flu. >> It's okay. I I did ask. I didn't know if you were home. >> He's older. >> You're fine. >> I He's middle school, right? >> Yes. >> Okay. He was middle school. That's why I asked. >> How old your >> seven? And he's probably just getting to the clubhouse. >> Does that walk from the clubhouse? >> Yeah. like this meeting that I was just in that I got pulled out of as soon as it was over I normally go home. >> Do you have anybody else that can go there for at least the evening? >> Do you have your husband, boyfriend? >> Yeah. I mean, I can call my if I'm allowed >> We're giving you >> We're giving you the opportunity to call somebody to go to the house for the kids. >> Yeah. Right. So, I know he's not home now, but he's like, >> you know, at work, so just let him know. Okay. >> Yeah. It's a little different of a situation where other people are >> looking to call somebody and hurt us. So >> some people are like that. >> If he doesn't answer, can I call my mom? >> Uhoh. >> What was that? >> I don't know. Better ask. >> He didn't answer. So As long as you get a hold of somebody that can make everybody aware, make sure the kids are good. >> We don't want to be calling or anything like that. So, >> no. That's why we're asking like >> we just both work. So, >> I understand. Long as they know. >> The only reason why we'd call DAP is because no one would be home with them. >> Oh. >> Like you w you can't get a hold of anybody to take >> right now. Yeah. So, it's not DCF that you did something wrong to them. It's just you couldn't get a hold of anybody. But make your calls for we're fine. >> Before the trip to the station, the officers let the woman call her husband so the family could make arrangements for the children. >> Hey, um I need you to leave work and go home like right now cuz I'm not able to go home. Yeah. that the sheriff's office is here and they're >> arresting me. >> Okay. I mean, I just need you to go home. >> Then you'll be able to call when you get to the jail. >> What? They said I can call you again when I get to the jail. >> They'll allow you call to the jail. >> Can I tell him? >> You can tell anything you want. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Um they said for theft at Target for selfch checkout. >> So >> no I'm not pranking you. >> That's a golf. >> Sorry. No. >> It's probably [clears throat] not the norm. So he probably he or she >> I just >> Okay. >> Not a joke. So, but because I they have gone to the house and Gabe was there. So, I told them like Scarlet and Jameson are probably getting home from school right now. So, so they don't call DCF because the kids are home alone. Not because we did anything wrong. Okay. He said he'll leave now. That's fine. >> Do you have anything here that you need to take out? >> Uh like a purse? Um, I just like my car key. >> Should I leave them here? >> I would leave them here. >> I don't know. I would have to go up with you and I would try and not >> No, I can leave my car here like tonight or till later. >> As long as you're fine with that. >> This is pretty secure. >> I just have to get a picture of you real quick. All right. So, one, two, three. >> Her photo is taken for the trespass [music] report. And with that, there's little left to do but escort her to the station. >> Um, yeah. Leave your stuff here. >> My phone and stuff. >> Leave your phone and go with you. >> Okay. you're Yeah, it'll go with you. Um, so that way you can get phone numbers out and you can call who you need to um when you get to the jail. So everything you have right now should be fine. You don't have a purse. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Mhm. >> Yeah. You get new clothes. >> Yeah. And then you get different clothes. >> Ready? Go ahead. Obviously, my car is right there and doing it as discretional as possible on the far side. Just I know all my co-workers. Yeah. Um >> the only way you can get in more trouble now is if you took off road, so I don't think you're going to do that. So >> I would not do that. >> So how long does somebody have to stay? Um, well, you can bond out as soon as the booking's done. Um, you can, which will just take a few hours once they get you booked and all the paperwork's done. It usually takes a few hours. >> So, as long as you have the funds to bond, you can bond out this this afternoon. >> Go home the same day. >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah. Like I could >> You don't have any priors, right? >> No. >> Okay. >> Like I could go like to work tomorrow or people don't do things. should be able to as long as >> you have to have the money to be able to bond, >> right? And then people can like kind of live and normal until things >> I can do all normal things. It's just right now is the >> This is the moment. >> This is the moment where we unfortunately go in through this moment. >> You've been really cooperative. I'm not going to handcuff you in the back, one handcuff you in the front. It's policy. I have to handcuff you. So >> whatever. I don't want to. >> Yes. So, I'll you'll sit down and hand you in the front and then I'll give you the jail and you literally just get booked process and you're going to get the opportunity to call the bondsman or have your husband or something. >> Yep. And then he can work on that and then >> How do you know how much it is? >> Um I it'll populate in mine, but they should tell you. >> Oh, they'll tell you. Okay. So, like no weapons on you. >> It's quickly becoming clear that the woman's biggest concern isn't the arrest itself. So this is like public record, right? >> Unfortunately, it is public record, but someone really has to know what they're looking for. >> What do you mean by that? >> Like they would have to know to like go to the county website, but that like call your county like mugsh shot page. >> So the problem I was trying to pull that that way. The problem is is that you're okay. The problem is with that is that I can't give you an NTA a notice to appear because it's above a misdemeanor amount. So is a felony. >> Yeah, that's the problem that I can't just take you u with a notice to appear for you just to see the judge. So it would be like an arrest without arresting you and taking you to the jail. So the reason why it's different is because of the level that it's at. So or I would be >> What is the level that it's at? >> Um I'd have to look at the amount but I know it's grand. What is that? Like what's the what are the >> It's uh like a above $750. >> $750. It's grand theft. >> Yeah. Sounds like a low amount for a big thing. I know. >> I wonder if I'm going to get fired. If someone looks it up, I don't know your policy. >> Like if it's a felony like a felon. >> No, no, no, no. I'm sorry. I just don't know. >> You're just getting arrested. That's it. You're not char. You're not convicted. You are not. The judge does not say you are guilty of everything that you did. You just what we have is probable cause with evidence that you committed the crimes. But it is the judge that is the one that signs off on whether or not you are guilty of a felony or do they take your clean history and do they break it down? Do they give you diversion? Do they give you a slap on the wrist this time? Like, what is it that they do in order to make this not be a felony on your record? >> The officer tries to reassure her, but the woman keeps returning to the same question. >> So, the process is now, >> so this won't be like public tonight. you getting arrested is public tonight, but >> it'll say for >> it'll say grand theft, but it will not show that you are a convicted felon. It will not show anywhere about felon or felonies um with the state or with with the judge that you are a convicted felon. So, if they did a background check, they wouldn't um >> nothing would come up. Yeah. Correct. Correct. So, >> the case ultimately ended with a woman facing a charge of grand theft. woman turns a simple misunderstanding into an arrest. The next call comes from a 13-year-old who reported that someone stole his phone while he was heading to school. Here's what he had to say. >> Hey, >> are you on the phone with a car? >> Okay. >> She just walked into the cleaners, the orange cleaners. She's by herself. >> What happened? >> Basically, >> she's inside the orange cleaners right now. to go get some food before school and my phone fell in my pocket and I went to go get it cuz I saw it and she had it and then she kept walking to it. I kept asking her where my phone was. She wasn't trying to give it to me. >> Okay, one second. Delta five not in contact with other half. >> She's down there. >> I just wanted my phone. >> So, where was your phone? >> It was on on the girl cuz it fell out my pocket and >> and then I asked her my phone back and she kept ignoring me. >> Did you watch her pick up the phone? She She literally saw the phone and she got it. >> Okay. So, you watching grab the phone? Yes. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> And she has her phone still. >> I don't know. She picked up the phone. I don't know what she did with it after. And she basically >> What kind of phone is it? >> It was a iPhone 12 black and it had like a and it had a case like a a very strong case when it has a stand on the back where I can lift my phone. >> Okay. >> How old are you? >> I'm 13. >> 13. Okay. >> I chased it all the way through. I just go to school. I got you. >> Okay. >> You just put your phone back. You don't want to press charges. You can't see but I just got that phone like two weeks ago. >> Okay. What kind? Okay. Hold on a second. Hold on. >> What kind of phone? >> Do you have to see anything that happened? >> No. I just seen him coming down the street. I'm a guard. I just seen him coming down the street and I always see him and then he was like, "She got my phone. She got my phone." I tried to stop her like and she was acting crazy crazy. So me being me, I told her to shut and grab a book bag and get your phone out of there. That was me being me and she would even made it this far. >> It isn't long before the boy's mother makes it to the scene. >> Are you mom? >> Hey, how you doing? >> Good. How are you >> doing? Just fine. We're trying to sort out everything. What he's telling us is that he was on a scooter. just fell his phone had fell out of his pocket. >> Uhhuh. >> And then a lady had grabbed his phone and he tried confronting her to get her phone back. >> Not by talking like touching or anything like that, but you know, basically telling, "Hey, I need my phone. Get my phone back. Do you have my phone?" >> And she ended up running and going in a different direction. So, >> hold on. I have this location in >> that's back towards the school. >> Okay. That's where it's pinging at right now. >> Thanks to the phone's live location and the description provided, officers don't have to search for long before finding the suspect. >> Fox shot 24. What's the description of the female? I have one walking away. I see the description. Come here now. You're going to get tased. >> All black >> with a blue sc blue scarf. GET ON THE GROUND NOW. YOU'RE GOING TO GET TEDD. Get on the ground. Get on the camera. >> STOP. >> GET ON THE GROUND NOW. >> HAVE A BLUE SCARF. >> I DON'T STEAL ANY PHONE. >> I don't steal any phone. Check. >> GET ON THE GROUND NOW. >> NO, BECAUSE I >> GET ON THE GROUND. >> NO, I DON'T STEAL ANY PHONE. >> He's inside the orange cleaner. >> Get on the ground. I got a steal any phone. I GOT THE GROUND. >> Get on THE GROUND. >> GET ON the ground now. >> GET ON THE GROUND. >> I GOT A STEALER. >> GET ON THE GROUND. >> I GOT A STEALER. >> GET ON THE GROUND. >> I GOT a stealer. >> Get on the ground. >> I GOT A STEAL. >> PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> I GOT A STEAL. >> HOLD ON. Get her arm. >> Stop. Hold on. Stop resisting. Stop resisting. >> I have not resist. >> Hold on. >> Work her hands. >> I got this. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Okay, >> I got this. >> Wow. Okay. >> Hey, we got one. >> You okay? >> Of course I'm okay. Someone accuse me. I steal a phone and I don't steal any phone. >> All right, that's cool. When the police tell you to stop and stop though, >> you regular. >> I don't steal any phone. >> Can I take my phone? >> No. Let's go. >> I have >> The woman is now in custody and officers waste no time questioning her about what allegedly happened. >> Wow. What's your name? >> I woke up over there to >> That's not what I asked you. I asked you what your name was. >> You know, that's not what I asked you again. Asked what your name was. >> Would you give me my phone? >> I asked you what your name was. >> Would you give me my ma'am? >> Birthday. >> I need a lawyer. >> You know, if you don't identify yourself as another charge, >> I need a lawyer. >> So, you already got the one for resisting in there. >> I need a lawyer. >> Another resist. >> I need a lawyer. >> I'm not going to say nothing without a lawyer. According to the investigation, the woman allegedly passed the phone to another group of kids, giving officers another set of people to track down. >> So, talk to me, man. >> How did we get to this point? Where'd you get the phone at? >> He brought the phone some way up and gave it to our friend. My friend had gave it to us. >> Okay. What's your What's your friend's name that got the phone? >> Zack. >> Zack. He ended up getting the phone from an older lady >> and then he gave that phone to y'all. >> What What he say to you, though? >> He didn't say it was he gave it to him. He gave me >> like was going to eat my he dropped the phone later. >> I like Let me see. And then like, "Yeah, this is cuz I just text him my order when I got order." >> I got you. >> So I guess it fell out of his pocket while he was on the scooter. >> And so lady found it, gave it to their friend. Exactly. Exactly. Yeah. Give the phone to him after he confirmed. Yeah. >> So, how did he know to give it the phone to you? He just How do you know to give the phone to >> I just said, "Let me see it." Cuz I was going to take it to him. I couldn't I was just going to walk up there. >> But how did you know it was his phone? >> Cuz I had looked at the message and I just text him. >> You told me. >> So, what does So, my thing is, what did Zachary say to you about the phone? He just said, "Oh, find the phone." >> He said, "A old lady gave him a phone." >> Okay. All right. Old lady gave him a phone. And then from that point on he saw the phone and recognized the phone he his buddies because of a message that he sent him. And so a guy he he dropped his phone there. She picked it up. Um so I don't know how she's related to the whole thing. That's what they're trying to figure out. U the older lady some older lady had handed it to this kid named Zachary one of their friends. And so he had told he told these group of kids about the phone that that was given to him. And so one of them looked and said, "Hey, let me look at it." And he looked at it and he saw one of the messages. >> He said, "Oh yeah, that's what's his name's phone, which is our victim." >> With the situation finally settling down, the officers try once again to explain what's happening. >> I just want to give you a heads up like we were investigating a crime, right? So when the police tell you stop, you should stop. Then you could have gave your side of the story of I didn't steal his phone. I gave his phone to somebody and then now we have your side of the story, but instead you decided to run from the officer. So, I don't know if you knew that we're like the local police and we weren't [music] trying to do anything like we were just trying to investigate a crime. But in the future, you would not be going to jail had you just stopped and talked to us and gave us your side of the story. Okay? But because you ran from her and you resisted her um to investigate this crime, you're now going to jail for resisting. All right? So that's going to be what your Mike was that the was that the only charge is the resisting is. So now you're just going to jail for the resisting charge. All right? Cuz we figured out that the theft of the phone was not actually a theft. So had you just stayed and not ran from us and resisted her and trying to detain you to talk to you, you wouldn't be going to jail right now. >> Can I say something? >> Sure. >> I didn't go. I just I I just tell her I'm going to arrive at the wall. That's it. But I didn't walk. >> Okay. But you walked really fast in there and she said stop police. >> Okay. This is I I this is is my my skywalk. I don't walk fast because I saw her. It's because you can check all the time. I walk very fast. This is my skywalk. I just let her because I don't know what happened. I just let her I'm going to arrive over there >> and that's it. But I didn't know. >> Okay. >> And this is my >> What h what happened? Okay. All right. >> The woman still tries to explain herself, but the decisions she made earlier have already left the officers with few options. >> She says she walked really fast into the store, but I don't know what happened inside the store. >> She's from Venezuela. >> No, >> she didn't want to talk. She just said, "Can I tell you something?" And I said, "Yes, you can tell me something." >> Yeah. Okay. Are you born in Haiti? I left Venezuel I I arrive at Venezuela at 3 years old and I and I'm 44. Okay. Okay. >> It's for this reason I'm feel Latina because I grew up in Venezuela. >> Okay. Okay. Thank you. >> And I have only Venezuelan nationality. I don't have Asian nationality. >> Okay, that's fine. What I mean, your nationality really has nothing to do with why you're in the back seat right now. >> Like, it literally has everything to do with the fact that >> when she says stop police to be able to talk to you, you did not stop. You just kept on going. >> Another thing, can I have a lawyer, please? >> Yes, you can. >> That's why I'm not asking you any specific questions about what happened. Okay? So, you have the right to a lawyer and that's why they said we're not going to ask you any questions. I was just explaining why you were going to jail and then you voluntarily told me what you wanted to. >> Um, but yes, you can you can have your lawyer and I didn't ask you any any specific questions. Okay. >> Thank you so much. >> The encounter ultimately ended with a woman being booked on a charge of resisting arrest. Racist man gets caught shoplifting, then makes it worse. In this next incident, officers in Hoboken, New Jersey, responded to a reported shoplifting after a pharmacy claimed a man walked out with unpaid merchandise. Here's what happened when officers confronted the suspect. >> Outside the shelter, >> right outside the shelter, receive that. >> Right. He's got black sneakers and his uh socks are holding it over his >> What's going on, man? >> How you doing? Yeah. >> Stop. >> Here. Let me uh go to again right here. Come here. What's going on? Where you going? >> Sir, go over there. >> Follow my lawyer. 112 for the show, huh? >> I'll be working on getting the uh video so we can read the complaints on this. Supposedly, this is uh every almost every day current >> right here. >> Send us a um >> we did try to run. Yes. >> That's exactly why we're on here. >> White boy. >> Real quick. >> Oh, my mom. >> And he had weapons. >> Yeah. Weapons for an abuser. >> The alleged shoplifting amount comes to only $1167. But the officers soon find themselves dealing with more than just a theft investigation. >> Watch your mouth. You smoking it now. Yeah. Heaven me if you want. >> Yeah. Get off me. >> Yo, Bobity, what you touching my property for? Yo, I don't know law. negative. All right, we need a call with a cage here. >> I'm down the block 106. I'm down the block. All right. Where >> I am relax don't mean I'm not >> relax. I'm not even moving. >> Go this way. Can't wait to get a CK cell phone. I'm going put in your bag. All right. >> Well, you better wrest me for what? >> Not yet. >> What's your problem? >> You were told to stop and you kept walking away from us. >> Oh, there you go. >> Yeah. Call PTSD. You gave me one. You got a gun. Who you trying to play? Not a god. >> You have anything in your pockets? >> You protocol spread your feet. >> And you mad CUZ I'M TELLING YOU HOW TO DO YOUR JOB. >> Spread your feet. >> Nate 228. You lying. >> While officers carry out the search, the suspect continues lashing out with increasingly offensive remarks. TW got your badge number memorized. Ain't no terrific threat. Look at you, bro. You going to check it or what? >> Harry, is that pepper spray on his belt? >> Yeah. You got eyes. These don't. They the rookies. I understand. >> Ain't no sergeant. >> No. No. >> How you going to throw my property? Yo, I'm I'm suing y'all. Lean on my mother on 228 on his head. Now get these cuffs off me, little boy. on the martial art. I'll sweep you and knock you out real quick. Got no [ __ ] You know I got another elbow, right? I could spin and hit you right in your jaw. You be >> it would be smarter to say both elbows. >> Now you're listening. >> Good job, Brooke. Better luck next time. I checking for you. I don't know. Can I be allowed? I thought this was an arrest. of arrest and you ain't even tell them you ain't even read me my rights. We don't have to unless we unless we're questioning you and we're not. So we don't have to read you your rights. >> The suspect still isn't ready to let the argument go and his behavior only gets worse from here. >> So you just frisking? >> No, we're not questioning you about this place under placed under arrest. I was never told till now. >> As well the razor up. >> I ain't moving, bro. Forest cuz you know you weaker than nobody about to attack nobody. Somebody abusing a lady over there. However the [ __ ] they going? I don't know how they going. >> Don't worry about it. It's my not yours. >> It ain't doing New Jersey Charlie 57 Papa Hotel. I don't they fire your set. >> We good? >> All right. >> Yep. Come on. >> I ain't going nowhere, bro. Out of here. >> The conversation is over and it's time for the suspect to make the walk to the patrol car. See, >> you push me, bro. You mad as you weak. You a weak little man on my money. do this little show. Dump out, >> boy. Y'all going to book me? I ain't doing no print on my mom. I ain't doing no print. >> Mhm. >> Not playing. I'm not doing no print on my soul. >> That's okay. We'll charge you. Take a print on the county. >> They already got my print. It's a super kick. Yo, get the off me. >> Stop touching me. You a bag for real. >> Put the seat belt on you, MY MAN. >> COP STOP TOUCHING your >> I'm ABOUT TO NEED TO PUT THE SEAT belt on you. >> That >> Where's the seat belt? I got >> I don't need no seat belt. >> We're not putting it on. >> HOW YALL TRYING TO TAKE CARE OF ME? Y'ALL DON'T LAUGH AT ME. >> GIVE ME THE SEAT BELT, BUDDY. >> Don't faint. >> Okay. Procedures. >> The suspect was ultimately taken to the station and charged with shoplifting. Even the police weren't expecting this shoplifter's reaction. On December 24th, 2024, officers responded to a local Macy's after employees reported that a woman had allegedly stolen merchandise. Watch how officers handled the case. >> I feel like I told him I need water. I've been asking for water. No one brought me water. >> Yeah, I need some water. >> Okay. >> You need water or you need paramedics? >> Yeah, cuz I feel >> You just need water. >> Give me some water in the meantime. >> Okay, let's detain. >> We can we can figure that out. So just >> just hang back to stand up and turn around for a second. You can figure out anything with your medical needs. Relax. Relax. >> Lift your arms. Relax your arms. >> You're being detained right now. >> What? >> For what? You're here for what? >> Put your hands behind your back. Relax. Do not rip your hand out. You are being detained right now. >> Okay. I need to pay under your colorable law because I know my rights and without understand. I do not understand and I don't consent to no nothing because I didn't do anything. >> Okay, great. Why don't you have a seat? >> Yes. Can I get Why don't you have a seat? >> Come to me, please. >> Yes, that's what I'm doing. Can you hold on a second? >> Stand up again for a second for me, please. I'm >> You're not the boss here. >> No real obvious >> weapons or anything in your pocket here. with your traffic. >> Your water is open >> here. I will You want to do it like that? Let's go right for it. >> 1021. Your radio is not working well. >> Bravo 14. One to 10. >> Copy. One to 10. >> Oh jeez. Get the water. Get the water. Water. Water. Water. >> Okay. All right. >> Let you have a seat and relax. Okay. Calm down. >> Now there's a suspicion that you stole my ma'am. You are being detained for an investigation. We believe there was a retail theft. That's where you're being detained. >> I need one of those. Okay. Do we have a paper towel? She drops in the water. >> As the officers try to move things along, the woman seems determined to slow the process down. >> Can you listen for a second? >> I do not understand.
