Sovereign citizens love reciting the rules, just never the real ones. And these cops were happy to correct them. Here are five cases when sovereign citizens get reality checked by nononsense cops. Number five, woman learns the hard way that saying, "I do not consent," doesn't end an arrest. In our first case from Venice, Florida, an officer initiated a traffic stop on a car linked to a person with an expired license. Here's what unfolded. >> I do not consent. >> Sorry. [Music] >> You do not consent. You do not wish to contract with me and you don't answer questions. All right. Turn your vehicle off for me. Can I get 94? I got a sovereign citizen. >> Turn your vehicle off for me. >> 104. Ma'am, can you turn your vehicle off for me? All right. Listen to me. I know you don't answer questions, but you're going to listen to what I'm going to say. If you don't open the vehicle door and you step out and you turn the vehicle off, I'm going to break the window and I'm going to take you out of the vehicle and I'm going to take you under arrest. >> Okay? You understand that if you don't comply with what I'm saying, you are going to go under arrest. >> Did I commit a crime? >> Yeah. 104. Like I said, >> 104 question. >> All right, one more chance. >> All right, I'm going to have her 10:15. I need 94. If you close the windows on me, I'm going to break the window. [Music] I understand that it's a female driver telling me that and I'm going to break the window and take her under arrest. >> Step out of the vehicle. >> Step out of the vehicle. >> No. Kidnap me. >> I'm not going to kidnap. >> I have a fee. >> Listen to me. >> No. >> Listen to me, ma'am. You're going about You're going about this the wrong way. >> You're just going to get a citation. You're about to go to jail for resistance. >> You understand? >> So, step out of the vehicle. >> The driver refuses to cooperate, choosing to make a phone call instead of responding to the officer's repeated requests. For now, he's patient, but that patience won't last long if she continues to ignore lawful commands. >> Ma'am, I don't want to use force against you. >> At the tone, please record your message. When you record, you may >> I don't want to use force against you. You understand that, right? >> Ma'am. Okay. Turn your vehicle off, ma'am. Open your vehicle door. Open your vehicle door. >> Step out of the vehicle. I'm breaking the window. Open the vehicle door. >> You are under arrest. At this point, you have no say. >> Open the vehicle door. >> Open the vehicle door. Are you under arrest for resisting? >> Step out of the vehicle, ma'am. >> You are under arrest for resistance. Step out of the vehicle, ma'am. Step out of the vehicle. Step out of the vehicle. Step out. >> Even after the officer shatters the window, the woman refuses to budge. It's clear now that broken glass alone isn't enough to make her comply. And with that, the officer is prepared to take a more decisive step. >> Step out of the vehicle. >> Yeah. Break it. fees for millions of dollars. You guys are going to be this hell. >> Step out of the vehicle or you're going to get tased. >> Step out of the vehicle or you're going to get tased. >> They're kidnapping me. >> Step out of the vehicle. You're >> kidnapping me. >> Step out of the vehicle. I don't want to hurt you. Step out of the vehicle and do what I say. Step out of the vehicle. Get behind your back. Hands behind your back. Hands behind your back. >> You want to play games now? You're under arrest. >> You guys are all >> Yeah, that's fine. >> Yep. It's a four. >> What do you think? I just got back. >> Simple as you should have just complied. >> You guys are screwed. >> All right, ma'am. >> I'm going to help you. >> This is your last >> I'm going to have you step up. >> Stand up. >> Clear our tent. All of you brand new car >> see. >> Now cuffed and seated in the cruiser, she's read her rights as officers prepare to bring her in. All right, you're under arrest for resisting and whatever else I can see what's left on the vehicle. Um, your vehicle is going to get towed. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to talk to an attorney and have him and her present with you before doing questioning. If you cannot afford to hire an attorney, one will be appointed to represent you in no cause before enduring questioning. If you wish, you can decide at any time to exercise these rights and not answer any questions or make any statements. Do you understand each other's rights that I explained to you? All right. Got rescue coming to check your cuts and then after that going to jail. >> She has a valid Florida license. I don't know where it's at, but >> unreal. >> Got the passport. >> All she was going to get was a citation. >> Couple cash. Got bank cards and everything in that name. So, >> pretty legit. >> All right. >> I got several charges. I got persistent. I got failure to comply with law enforcement plus several citations. All right. All right. Yeah, we'll head now. >> Thank you, guys. In the middle of the car wash when you call. >> Yeah, no worries. I'm like, >> "Yeah, I know you're good." >> It escalated. I didn't want it to escalate that quick, but she didn't give me any choice and I couldn't see inside the car, so I was, you know, >> Yeah, I know. Like, I don't That's the three things that she told me. I'm like, >> you know, give me your license and whatever. >> All right. Moments later, her husband pulls up and from the look on his face, he's not interested in talking. With that, the officers immediately make it clear who's in charge. >> Where's my wife? Where did you kidnap her? >> What? >> Stay in the car and leave the traffic stop, please. >> Back up 25 ft, sir. >> We're not We don't have to talk. Just go home. >> What? Nobody gave you permission to search that. >> Don't worry about it. >> Scene. That's fine. Get out of the scene and go home. >> Hey, I'm out of the scene right now, buddy. >> Yep, that's fine. You can record over there, across, whatever you want. >> I will. >> Just go home. >> I don't have to go home. Don't tell me what to do. >> Have a good day. >> All right. >> Just ignore him. >> Just ignore him. >> You want to call out with him though? >> I'll be right here. Where's the car going? Is what I'm asking. Just ignore him. I'll let him know. Just >> It's going to Talon. We'll give her a copy of it. >> Where can I pick her up at? >> Sarasota County Jail. >> Which one? >> Sarasota County. 20 2020 Main Street. >> Right. How long you >> Just give it about 6 hours or so. I got a feeling that was her husband. He came in hot. I was like, either this car doesn't see that we're there or he's family. Oh, since he's the owner and he's present, we can cease the tag now. >> Hey, your vehicle has a cease tag order. >> Excuse me. >> Your vehicle has a cease tag order from the state. >> So, since you're president and you're the registered owner, I'm taking your tag. Just letting you know >> things didn't end in the woman's favor. and she was later officially charged with resisting arrest. Number four, sovereign citizen learns that claiming to be a state national won't stop an arrest. On June 8th, 2025, a patrol officer spotted a driver who failed to come to a full stop at a sign. That alone is enough to start a traffic stop. However, once pulled over, the driver has plenty to say. >> Good morning, Officer Lang of the Naples Police Department. The reason I'm stopping you is failure to come to a complete stop at the stop sign. >> Oh, I thought I did. I'm sorry. >> It's okay. Is this your license and registration? >> I no longer use a license. I only have uh my passport that I use. I'm a state national. So, I no longer have to abide by uh the corporate corporation's rules and I have my documentation for that. >> Okay. Those were previous uh citations that were dismissed by Judge Cone. >> Yeah, this doesn't show me anything of why you don't have to have a driver's license, though. >> Uh I'm a state national, so uh I'm exempt from the problem or the what what you guys do. I'm exempt from the uh >> Usually you have a card on you that states that um that they give you that you're exemplary. >> Yeah, they they haven't sent it to me yet, but I I have filed all the paperwork and it's been in place 11. >> It's been in place for what? >> Six years. >> And you don't have if it's been in place for six years. You don't have the prior one? >> They they didn't send it to me yet. >> In the whole entire six years, you've never had any. know how our federal government works. So this is >> So what do you provide for documentation wherever you go? You only provide ma'am. >> You should have been at least issued an identification card even if you don't have a driver's license. >> No, because the identification card again abides by your rules uh leaning uh ownership of my vehicles of myself to you and I'm no longer a part of the corporation. So I'm exempt. What she said so far is strange enough, but her next claim is the one that really leaves officers speechless. >> So what what we're doing here is illegal as far as me because I no longer participate the extortion of the police department. >> Are you are you stating you're so you're a sovereign citizen? >> I'm not state national. >> State national. >> I'm not sovereign. I'm a state national. I'm a part of the Republic of the United States. no longer a part of the corporation. >> Where do you reside at? >> I reside in Naples, Florida. >> Where exactly? >> Here in Naples. >> I know, but I I need to know so I can issue you um a citation. I need to know your address. >> You don't have to issue me a citation. >> We still have to follow the rules that everybody else follows. >> No, ma'am. I do not. I do not. That that that's why I get always get it excused. You don't have any you don't have any documentation on you stating that. So you're not exempt. >> I am I am exe. Believe me, you'll get a bond from me that goes directly towards you that finds you for every minute that you're holding me here. There there is no crime that's committed. You can only detain me if there's a crime committed. >> Ma'am, you are legally have to follow injured if you're injured vehicle in Florida. No, you still have to follow. No, I don't. It's See, you guys are extorting money from us. >> See, the problem is you're violating my fourth amendment. I >> No, it's actually not. >> Yes, you are. I can go through it with you, doll. >> I have it all here. >> Stand by for me. >> Vehicle versus a pole. There is airbag deployment in the northbound lane. The woman refuses to cooperate or even acknowledge the female officer, leaving her with no choice but to call in a supervisor for backup. >> Hey, Nicole. >> Sus, do you have a minute? >> Sure. Go right ahead. >> Okay. So, I'm on a traffic stop with um a woman who's stating she's not a sovereign citizen, but she's a citizen. And >> here documentation from the judge. >> Okay. Can you repeat again what you just told me? >> I'm I'm a state travel. I'm I'm a state national. I have the right to travel freely. I'm not encumbered by any of your laws or regulations. >> Stating >> stating she doesn't have to have a driver's license. She can run the stop sign, do everything >> and that she travels through common law. And um >> she if she if she fails to produce identification or a driver's license, she can >> I did I did produce my my >> she gave me her passport, but she says she doesn't have a driver's license. She doesn't need a driver's license. She doesn't have >> If she doesn't have a If she doesn't have a driver's license, just like anyone else, she can be arrested for not having a driver's license. >> No. No state shall No state shall convert my >> send you back up. >> It's a god-given right. >> All right. Bye. >> It's a god-given right. You guys are You guys are extorting money from us. It's a god-given right. Murdoch versus Pennsylvania. It's a god-given right. I I am common law. I am I It is not a privilege. It's a right. It's a God-given right for me to be able to travel. >> Do you have your registration? >> No, I don't. >> Okay. So, you have no registration, no driver. >> I have it. I just don't have it on me. I don't have to carry it. >> So, go ahead and call your supervisor. >> In the event, you know, you get into an accident with somebody or something. >> I have insurance. >> Turns out she's driving without a license. And that's all the officers need to take her in. But instead of facing it, she keeps trying to talk her way out. Well, >> I have insurance and I've also got a bond. >> So, I have there's no injured party here, honey. >> It doesn't matter if there's no >> Absolutely. It does. That's when a crime is committed. That's the only time you can pull me. >> No. >> Yes, ma'am. There's an injured party. >> No. >> You're offering You're offering the contract is not accepted. >> Stand by. You're all free. >> Tell for an operation. >> What's up? >> She's sovereign. >> Huh? >> She's sovereign. She won't provide me with a driver's license. Her driver's license is expired in 2025. >> Um, she registration is up to date actually. And um, so right now she's just giving me all types of problems. I'm I was just going to write her for expired driver's license. >> And um >> what type of pole is it that's on the ground there? Is it going to be a city >> like mouthing off? So said the >> only number I see on it now is >> not comp. >> Um >> she has an expired driver's license. She can't drive. M. >> So, um, somebody else you're going to have to come drive her car and get an arrest or I >> Right. >> Yeah. >> Can you fear, please? >> Get my glove. >> Okay, ma'am. I need you to turn your vehicle off for me. >> What's the purpose? >> Cuz your driver's license is actually expired, ma'am. You don't have the state of Florida. my my freedom to travel freely into a >> What I need you to do right now is turn your car off for me so we can get this situated. >> What What are we getting situated? >> I'm trying to help you. >> What are you trying to help me with? >> She's out of time and options. As she's told to leave the vehicle, she tries a new approach. >> Ma'am, >> no. I don't understand. What are you trying to help me with? >> I've explained everything to you. I've I've been very kind and helpful to you. >> I can't go forward without my attorney. >> Okay, that's fine. Call your call your supervisor. >> My partner is here with me right now. >> Call your supervisor. Call your supervisor, please. >> We can do that, too. >> What is your badge number, please? >> Ma'am, I'm trying to help you in the best way that I can. >> You have to disclose your badge number. >> And I have no problem doing that. You >> have to disclose your badge number right now. According to Shapiro versus Thompson. >> Okay, that's no problem, ma'am. >> These are these are constitutional laws that have been put in place, ma'am. That's what I follow. The constitution. The state of Florida has taken my right to travel freely in my private vehicle and turn it into a privilege which is against my constitutional rights. >> I am not I am not contracting with you. >> Okay. >> I understand. >> Hear me out for a second. Okay. >> Just I heard what you had to say at this point. She has asked you to turn the vehicle off and step out of the vehicle. >> If you listen to me, you are going to step out of the vehicle. Why would I do that? >> Because I asked you to. >> You don't have any authority over me. >> I do. >> No, you don't. You both are criminals. >> No. You're going to step out of the vehicle or I'm going to make you get out of the vehicle. >> I'm going to church. >> No, you're going to get out of the vehicle right now. Nope. Nope. Stop it. Do not do not. Oh my god. No. No. >> No. No. >> Stop. Leave me alone. >> Listen. >> Oh my god. I'm going to church. Stop it. Leave me alone. Please stop. Oh my god. Are you crazy? >> No. You're gonna step out of the vehicle. >> Oh my god. Wait. Let me turn my vehicle off. >> Do not grab me. No. >> Stop. >> Do not. >> Stop it. >> Grab this one. >> I'm gonna put I'm gonna lock up my car. >> No. >> I'm going to lock up my car. >> We tried to help. >> Oh my god. Burn. >> Such a supervisor. >> Step out. Step out. >> Oh my god. Let me put my car in. Step out. >> Let me PUT MY CAR IN. STEP OUT. >> Step out. My car is out. Unfortunately for her, no amount of misqued law stops the inevitable. And once the cuffs come out, so do the tears. >> Stay right there. Do not move. >> Oh my god. >> Careful. >> Yep. >> Nobody else can care. >> Nope. >> Please lock my car. >> No. I want to lock up my car. >> Okay, I'm going to take care of it in a second. >> Please let me go to church. >> Don't tighten them again. You don't have to tighten them that much. >> There and they are loose. >> Relax. >> Nope. >> Ow. You don't have to tighten it, sir. >> Not tighten. You are. You're typing. >> I have to be clamped on. They're handcuffs. >> Are you the supervisor? >> I am the supervisor. >> Okay. I need you to please get my purse and call my attorney. >> Ma'am, I'm not calling your attorney. I will. We will take care of your property. >> Going to have a seat right now. >> Don't handle me like that. >> You're going to sit down, please. >> Stop it. >> Sit down and put your legs in. >> Don't tell my car. Call my brother to come down. >> Thank you. >> Please don't tell my car. >> Watch your legs. Please don't tow my vehicle. Can I please call my brother? >> No. >> Why? >> Cuz it's getting towed. >> Why? >> That's theft. >> It's not. >> Sir, you're you're stealing my car if you impound it. >> Sir, can I please secure my vehicle? Sir, >> at this point, the woman has made it clear she doesn't want to work with them, and the officers aren't offering leniency in return. >> Let me secure my car, please. My purse and everything. How am I supposed to get out of jail? >> It's getting towed. >> What about my personal belongings? >> You're going to be secured in the vehicle. >> Sir, I've got money in that purse. Please don't do that to me. >> What kind of money do you have? >> I have over $2,000 in that purse. Please. >> Okay. She can have her phone, too. I will bring your purse and your uh phone for you. >> Thank you, sir. >> Yep. >> Can you please roll up my windows? >> We will. >> And And I I I can't have the code to towed because it's on a security. >> It's going to get towed. There is no damage on my car >> and there won't be anyone to get it. >> How do I get it? >> Uh, you'll be advised on where it's going to get towed to. >> How long am I going to be in jail? >> Uh, I can't answer that question. I don't know. That's not up to us. >> Well, we need a magistrate here to tell me that right now. >> Uh, you'll go before a judge when you get in. What started as a routine traffic stop ended with far more than a citation. The woman is now facing several serious charges, including failure to obey a lawful order, resisting an officer with violence, and battery on specified personnel. A situation that could have been resolved in minutes has now turned into a criminal case. Number three, how to have an officer smash your window in the first few minutes of the traffic stop. It's May 7th, 2021 when a highway patrol officer stopped a speeding driver. The goal was simple. Get the driver to comply and make him understand his violations. Unfortunately, the next few seconds will immediately push this stop in a whole new direction. >> I just want to know what the emergency >> I'm saying you're stopping for speeding. >> Okay. Do you have a driver's license on you? >> Yeah, I'll give you my >> Yeah. You on probation appear? >> I'm going to give you my information, sir. Hold on. I'm not committing any crime. Because you were speeding. >> Are you recording this, please? >> Yes, we are recording. We record everything. License registration, please. I got you. >> Hey sir, I don't like you reaching around. I'm going to have you step out of the vehicle. Listen, either step out of the vehicle. I'm going to break the glass. I'm going to pull you out of the vehicle. >> Have your watch commander? >> No. Step out of the vehicle now, sir. >> Have your watch commander pull up, please. Sir, don't break my window. >> I'm asking you right now. Step out of the vehicle then. Step out of the vehicle, please. I'm under arrest. Do not break my hand. I didn't commit a crime. >> Step out of the vehicle, >> sir. I did not commit a crime. I will step out under the arrest. Please. I'll step out of >> Please step out. >> I will. Please. Please do not hurt me. You're I'm fearful for my life, for my safety. You're scaring me. >> I'm giving you 3 seconds, sir. If you don't step out of the vehicle now, I'm going to break the glass and you're going to get pulled out. >> Yes, sir. I'm I'm doing it right now, >> sir. One, sir. Whoa. >> You're hurting me, sir. >> Please, I'm not resisting. Can you record somebody, please? Somebody record this. >> Somebody record this. >> RELAX. RELAX. >> I am. I'm hurt. I'm >> I'm hurt. Relax. You don't have to hurt. >> I'm not I'm not complying. You're hurting me. I'm not complying. >> Put your hand behind your back. >> He says he's complying, but the footage and reports suggest otherwise. The officers are struggling to cuff him. And to make matters worse, the man seems more focused on creating a scene than calming down. >> I can fly. I'm not resisting. I'm not resisting. I can fly, sir. My elbow's broken. My elbow, dude. I comply, sir. I relax. I complied. I'm in pain. I'm in pain. You're hurting me. >> You're hurting me. You're hurt. I need to go to the hospital. >> You're hurting me. Record this, please. Please record this. Please record this live. My name is Quinn Bass. My name is Quinn Bass. Quinn Bass. My name of America. 674. >> Can you uh start meditating Sam, please? [Music] >> Please, I'm hurting. I'm hurt. >> I need medical attention. My elbow's broken. >> Please, buddy. I'm going in. >> All right. I >> know. I swear. >> I got you guys' cameras. >> We need to get out. >> Yeah, we'll get you guys out right now. Okay. Give us a second. >> Have you started yet? >> Yeah. >> Are you able to squeeze through? >> Uh, I'm going to try. >> You going try? >> Yeah. >> If you can't, I'll I'll try to move it. >> Okay. I'll try to get out. >> Okay. >> Did you guys see anything that happened? >> You did? >> Did you see anything that happened? He said, "No, no, no." >> No, he wasn't paying attention. We were in there. >> Oh, okay. Yeah, no >> worries. Sorry. >> No, you guys are fine. Thank you. >> Medics check everyone out and with no injuries reported, the arrest moves forward. Still, the man keeps the conversation going loudly. >> Sergeant Can you tell them they have my cell phone right here? Can you give >> We have his phone in the door panel. >> Can you grab my phone, please? >> They're going They have it. They're taking it. >> I want my wife to to have my phone, sir. >> No. Go, brother. Just go. >> They can't just release it right now. You have to take care of this first. If you can release it, let's go to jail. Okay. >> What am I being charged with? >> Uh, sir, listen. We're not going to keep explaining to you. We've already told you. You knew the circumstances beforehand, sir. >> With resistant arrest, felony resistant arrest. >> And what's the addition? >> Was for speeding. >> Speeding. Freeway. >> Yeah. Jump on the freeway. >> Hey man, how bad are you cut? Yeah, we'll just jump on the 210 and then uh how how deep are your cuts? >> Uh >> I will need I will need your business cards. >> No, you're getting a report number and that's it. >> Nope. You're getting a report number and that's it. >> Okay. Thank you. >> All right. Chief, >> you'll have the report number, too, sir. I'm I'm going talk to Chief when I get when I when I get the chance to Okay. Friday with Sheriff McMahon about this sheriff. Okay. >> You're 12, right? >> Yeah, I'm 12. >> You're not missing any gear? >> No, I'm good. >> Never in my life like this before. all this for asking what crime did I do? Like you could have gave me a citation, let me go and buy my business instead of >> not long after he pivots now claiming he's the one who's been wronged. >> There's certain protocol procedures you got I deal with all the time. We got That's one of my [ __ ] birds. Oh my love Michelle I turn The officers don't take any chances. Following protocol, they make a quick stop at the hospital to get the suspect medically cleared. >> Oh, this hurts. >> I'll be right back. Oh, that was a pretty nice slam, bro. You got me pretty good. Oh, this [ __ ] hurts. >> Hey, listen. >> Yeah, I'm good. >> I'm in a lot of pain. >> No, I'm I'm I know we're over it right now. So, this is this is the deal. Okay, man. I want to make sure that you're fine. >> I'm not. >> Okay. So, as long as you treat us like like with respect like a man, I'm going to treat you. Okay. I'm I'll make sure I take care of you. >> Navy veteran, bro. I would I don't disrespect nobody, bro. >> I know. I'm sorry. Thank you. >> But do you need a chicken, too? >> Uh, I'll wait for my sergeant. >> Okay. some stuff to book with. >> Oh, I need to get pictures first. >> Understand? I'm a Navy war vet and I serve my country with honor, bro. That's what you don't understand. I don't I don't do rather even. But even even argue about the >> I'm not going to argue with either. That's what Court get. But but like I said before, even me just just about to go to law school and work with gentlemen like you guys, even with routine, even with routine traffic stops, guys. There's a way you conduct yourself. You don't put put people under the rut to the point where you break slam them into their own glass, man. >> No, that's not how the procedure works. Just want to let you know how it all works. You speak this problem. If there's no emergency, if there's no report of of a crime and there's no >> I just got to get away from them. I'll be okay. >> That struggle didn't just delay the inevitable. The man's non-compliance added a felony resisting arrest charge to his record. Number two, tourist tries telling officers how the law works. It doesn't go well. This incident out of Key West, Florida began with officers spotting a car parked in a clearly marked tow zone. However, when the authorities made contact with a driver, things quickly took a turn. >> We have a loophole. So, you can All right. >> You can do what you want. Watch this. I didn't do a single thing wrong. I don't know why he immediately became an but I'll I'll tell you what I read that sign. Read the sign. >> Okay. I'm sorry. And I'll tell you this, I can't get a DUI unless a key is in the ignition. >> Correct. >> Watch this. >> Oh, you have it on you. >> And you are in physical control of the vehicle. >> Kev, hold the key.
