Here's what happens when pretty privilege fails with nononsense cops. 21-year-old learns the hard way she can't always get what she wants. On January 26th, 2025, officers were dispatched to an apartment regarding an unusual dispute. According to the caller, their roommate had locked them out and refused to let them back inside. Here's how officers tried to resolve the situation. >> Y don't don't run up like that. >> Joe was like, "Golly, don't you >> Sorry. He's the one I was around back. >> It's the police department. Come to the door. >> Ma'am, >> she's in the kitchen right there. >> She's in the kitchen. Just like right there. >> Hello. >> I'm sorry. >> Okay. Can you come to the door? >> No. >> Why not? There's no one over there. >> I just want to talk to you. >> I said I just want to talk to you. >> Just kick the door down. >> No. >> No, we're not going to kick any door down. >> I have to pay for that. >> Ma'am, can you put that pan down, please? That's also my >> I never seen police cop so patience. >> You're real good at your job, man. >> I didn't put that up. >> Ethan, >> Ethan, just sit in the car, please. >> Can you come to the door, please? >> There's a bunch of gnats right there, too. And it's disgusting. >> Okay, if if you open the door, I can come look at the gnats. >> Can you come to the door, please? >> No. Oh, it's another cop. Thanks. >> 1 2 3 1 2 3. >> So, she she has the You guys don't have a key to get in the house? >> It's a No, it's not a code. It's an app on the phone. But there's also a deadbolt. So, as we were opening opening it, she pushed it back closing and deadbolted. >> Okay. So, it's a deadbolt from the inside. >> Yeah. >> I hear you. >> She came out this morning and now I'm walking. >> What's her name? Her name is Aana. >> Aa. >> The officers know [music] forcing entry isn't the answer. Their first priority is seeing whether the woman is willing to open the door and have a conversation. >> She She's right. Yeah, you can try to, but she's uh she just went over that other corner. I'll go to the other side and see if I can get >> aa >> uh can I talk to you real quick? Can you open the door? >> No. >> Can I Can we talk through the window? >> The police. >> Can I Can I come inside and talk to you? >> Well, how are we how are we going to solve this? Because your roommates need to go inside. >> For what? >> They live here. >> They don't clean. >> That's not That's That's not the problem. They live here. This is where they lay their their heads at night. >> They pay less, but they don't clean. So, can can we >> Okay, Miss Martinez, is there a way we can solve this? Can I come inside and talk to you or can another >> No, this is >> Who keeps trying you? [snorts] Who keeps trying you? >> All right. How long has you've got How long have you guys been dealing with her? two months. Well, she moved in in December cuz our roommate suddenly if I was back >> So, how did how did this come out where she kicked y'all out? What's >> We went Okay, so this morning she was having an episode thinking I stole her stuff, but really her boyfriend came yesterday and said the stuff that he bought her and left. >> So, she came banging on my door. I opened it. She screamed in my face, came to me with a skateboard, called the police. Well, she called the police and they already knew what was going on. Another mental episode. This has happened so many times. Like not locked out, but me dealing with her like this so many times. >> Yeah. >> And they're they're just letting her stay. >> Seventh time. >> So, who all lives here? >> Seven times. >> Who's who all lives here? >> Um my roommate's currently got her boyfriend. She's on her way. Uh >> does she have a key? >> My roommate has a key. >> Okay. So, we'll wait for her and we'll come inside. We'll go inside. >> Not We have a key. She deadbolted it. So, I can't >> There's a dead bolt on the inside. >> Oh, okay. >> Hello. Rather than giving up, one officer circles to the back of the apartment, looking for another way to speak with a woman. So far, however, she's making it clear she has no interest in opening [music] the door. >> Hey, >> can you open the door? >> No, I'm sorry. Hi, officer. They're crazy. They knew how to open this door from the outside. >> Can you open the door? >> Yeah. >> For me? Why not? >> Because I was wild. You need to go talk to him. >> Yes, ma'am. I'm trying to talk to you so we can kind of figure everything out. >> Okay. Because I saw him literally open this sliding door. >> Mhm. >> And I was like, "How the >> Oh, okay. I see. You want to open it for me so I can come talk to you? And I was like this time >> maybe open the front door for the other officer if you can. >> Okay, that's fine. >> Why am I getting a random bill? >> It's a good question. >> Look, if I can come look at the bill. >> What's your name, ma'am? >> My name is Aina. >> Aa. If I can come inside, I can look at the bill and kind of help you figure everything out. >> But I can't do it from out here cuz I can't see >> here. I can open the door and hand you the bill and you can look at it. >> No, ma'am. I have to come talk to you. >> Why not? >> Come here. >> Come here. Where are you going? >> Can I come and talk to you? Are you in that room here? >> Go to the other side. >> What? Can you come here real quick? Can we just talk through the window? >> The officer switched tactics as the female officer takes over, hoping she can get the woman to lower her guard and start talking. >> Do you have like mental health issues? >> Do you have mental health issues? I know how cops are going. >> Whoa, >> that was not nice. >> Oh, I'm not a celebrity. >> Is that um is that window kind of loose? >> My window? >> Where's your window? >> Oh, the one right now. >> Is do you know if it's loose at all? >> No, the screen. Yeah, >> I pulled the screen out, but the window is locked itself. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Yeah, she's she's going to jail. >> Okay. >> Um right there. You did you fix the car stuff? >> Okay. Whatever we need to do to get in, get in the car. >> That window is right by that sink, though. >> Yeah, I tried that one. >> You put me on this car. >> Stab me. So, >> we had carving equipment in the uh for this pumpkin over here. >> I haven't seen any guns. No, >> just car up. >> I think it just ran to the door. >> I was thinking it just ran the door in my way. I >> hate that they put those things on the door. >> Yeah, the dead. >> No more doubt. [music] The officers have reached the end of their patience. With every attempt to resolve the situation peacefully exhausted, they're left with only one option. >> Hey, what's up? I got it. >> You're wearing my jacket >> here. Just hold it. >> You have it. I have it on recording >> on my phone. You guys don't know me. >> Oh my god. >> Sorry. >> It's okay. They have their phones out. >> Can you guys stand out with Don't do that while we're doing this. >> They don't know me. All right. Well, she slipped on them. Put her in my car. >> You good? >> We're coming out here. All right. >> Good job. >> Thank you. >> Come on. >> Hey, shut up. >> Get it. >> They're detaining me. >> If you're not detained, you're under. >> Can you put me on that car at least? Ow. She's trying to put her gun. Can I get on that pot, please? Please, >> please. >> The woman continues pleading with the officers, but no matter how she pleads, she's still headed to the station. >> Uh, red. >> Oh my god. >> You got a red bubble? >> You got it here. Grab >> I got it. >> Where's your red rip? >> It's in my bag. I'll grab it. >> You want to grab it? I'll get it. I got it. >> You got anything on you? >> Uh, no. >> It broke. >> Go check it out. >> Hey, face the top. >> Excuse me. >> I told y'all that I got >> Why can't I just shut up? >> We're past that point. >> You're supposed to been out of this apartment. What are you doing? >> I don't know. Maybe because people been trying to me out. >> Yeah, because you've been having some issues going on. >> No, I haven't. See what I mean? Everyone thinks I'm crazy. >> You're not. You But but you not letting us into inside the house. That says otherwise. Move out. >> 3. Yeah, that's what they just told us. >> You good stuff. >> Here, I'll grab my shoes, please. >> We'll grab them. Just sit inside. >> Wait, it's cold. >> Sit inside. >> Okay. >> It's warm here. >> Make sure you check that. Unless she start put her seat belt on >> so she doesn't >> Yeah, >> I got her. Yeah, >> I'm being detained. >> You're No, you're under arrest. >> Why? >> Oh, I'll definitely that. The encounter ultimately concluded with a woman facing charges of interference with her residence and obstructing officers. Entitled teenager picks the wrong officers to argue with. On November 23rd, 2025, officers stopped a woman after they allegedly saw her speeding and attempting to race another driver. Before long, however, the stop becomes far more complicated than expected. >> Hey, ma'am. This is This is now a traffic stop. You are not free to go. >> I am free to go. >> Yes. No, you're not free to go. This is a traffic stop. You're being stopped for racing with him down Fruitville going 57 mph. >> He was racing. He was so far behind behind, >> right? You were racing with him. You were the car that was right next to him. And that's why now this is a traffic stop. No. >> Go ahead and give me your license, your registration, and your proof of interest. >> You didn't even stop me. >> You're stopped right now. >> Not to me cuz you saw that I pulled my window up. That's not fair. >> Lawfully. Now you are detained because this is a traffic stop. I need your license and your registration proof of insurance. >> There's no traffic stop. >> This is a traffic stop right now. >> Anything wrong? >> If you do not provide me with your license, you will be failing to identify yourself and I'll remove you from the vehicle. >> Where's your supervisor? >> I can get him here. >> Please do. >> Okay. Give me your license. >> I don't need to give you my license. There's no crime committed. >> Yes, you were speeding. >> That's super unfair of him. You were speeding right along with him and he even admitted that you are his girl and that you guys were both racing down Fruitville Road. So, I need your license or or things are going to get a lot worse for you. >> There's no reason for things to get worse. >> Okay, then provide me with your license. >> I don't need you to give you my license. >> 26 to any available supervisor. >> What you're doing is supervisor. >> I know you know I know you know you know >> if we can get a supervisor here on some place. >> You didn't >> go ahead and provide me with your license. You didn't even record my speed. You didn't even check. You don't? >> Uh, yeah. Actually, we did check your speed. >> You didn't check? >> Yeah, both cars. >> You didn't? >> Why do you think I said 57 mph? Cuz he has a laser in his car and he lasered your car specifically as well as hitting. And you're right. He was going faster than you. >> He was going faster than me. >> I know. >> Now, I'm going to give you one more chance to provide me your license, your registration, and your proof of insurance. >> Can I say something now? You literally you literally stopped him and no there was no car going. I stopped because I was worried and I saw what was happening. So there's how you can say you need my license like I committed a crime >> because this is a this is now a traffic stop. You are not free to go. >> At this point the officer is simply trying to collect the paperwork [music] needed to move the stop forward. The woman, however, isn't making that easy. >> You are not free to go. I need your license, your registration, and your proof of insurance. >> What? What are you doing? >> Put the car in park. >> Put the car in park. >> Put the car in park. >> Put the car in park. >> Turn the car off. >> You don't need to intimidate me. You don't need to try to put your gun down out for me. >> You were moving your car as we're standing here conversation. >> I was I haven't even You haven't even introduced yourself. All right. >> Uh, I don't think she's going to leave after this. >> Super violent. >> Okay. Well, I'm going to put my window. >> I have the right to do that. Please. >> I'm going to ask you one more time. >> No. >> I need your license. >> I I'll give it to you, >> your registration, and your proof of insurance. >> Sir, >> I don't feel comfortable talking to you because I don't feel safe. >> I'm going to wait. So me and me and Ridge are sitting 2500 block of Fruitville. We see that truck and this white car comes speeding westbound. Yeah. >> He he lasers both of them. That one at 71, this one at 57. >> When we they caught the red light, so we go down, flip around, come back, catch up to the black truck. I wasn't sure if it was the white car or not. >> Yeah. >> Well, then when he pulls over the black truck, she pulled in. When we walked up to the truck, he's like, "Yeah, that's my girl. She We were racing." So then I pull my car up to her and I say, "Hey, you're now it's now a traffic stop. You're now free to go." Then she tried to leave, stopped. He pulled his car up, then she tried to back up and now she won't she won't give me her license, anything. She wants a supervisor. She said she would give it to me. Uh she would give it to you. So I gave her the benefit of the doubt to wait. Uh otherwise, I'm going to rip her out of the car. >> As requested, a supervisor arrives at the scene. Now the woman has the opportunity to explain her side directly to him. >> How you doing, ma'am? I'm Sergeant Carter, Sarasota Police Department. >> What can I do for you? >> Yeah. I didn't walk away. >> Yeah. Okay. So, they are trying to talk to you about a incident where they believe that you were involved in a racing incident with this vehicle over there. >> No. Yep. So, that means you're being detained. So, you're not free to leave. So, then they're not going to allow you to pull off on them if you're being detained for an investigation. Well, we can contact you and have you detained without using the vehicle in our light. So, if we're talking with you to stop you to investigate something, we don't need the vehicle to keep you here. >> Okay. Well, you just said you tried to pull forward. I thought >> Okay. Well, I'm telling you this right now. They're investigating whether or not you were involved in a racing incident with this vehicle. Okay. So, >> All right. Well, what I need for you to do is I need for you to cooperate. So, I need you Is your vehicle in park right now? Okay. Okay. So, can you step out of the vehicle for me and provide your license to them so that we can continue with this? >> I'm going to ask that you step out, please. >> Before you step out, can you grab the registration and proof of insurance for me? After all the back and forth, the woman finally hands over her identification. Just when it seems the stop can move forward, the officer notices another red flag. You can keep looking for it on your phone. How about the registration? You can just reach over and grab that. >> I don't think it's here. >> You don't have the registration in your car? >> I don't think it's in my car, but you can search it. >> I'll take your license. >> You don't have registration and your expired. Your uh insurance, proof of insurance that you gave me is expired. Can I get my phone? >> Yeah. >> Go ahead and look there. Just stay right there. Okay. You think you have a valid insurance? You said >> I have it. >> Okay. >> Can I close my door? >> Uh, it's just going to stay open for right now. Okay. >> It's not like I'm going to leave. >> Well, it's not saying that you're going to leave. Okay. It's just for your safety and ours. Okay. >> That's it. >> Why is it? >> It's a completely separate different situation. >> How? >> What do you mean how? It's a separate separate traffic stop. I'm confused on what you mean. How >> it's not your traffic stop. That's a different traffic stop. >> Okay. >> So, it's a different situation. >> How's my traffic stop different? >> Sorry. Say that again. >> How is our situation different when your coworker said that we were stopped for the same reason? >> Yeah. You guys were both stopped for speeding, but >> you're your own vehicle traffic stop. >> He's his own vehicle traffic stop. I understand, >> right? circumstances are different in both situations. >> I understand that. >> Right. He made he made certain decisions that you know rolled down his window, gave driver's license, registration, insurance. >> Okay. >> You know, and when you >> decided everything and when I spoke to supervisor, >> you guys still asked me to step out of >> correct. Yep. >> Which I haven't even known about. >> Correct. >> And I don't know if it was you or him like looking inside the car. just like all these things. >> Just when it seems the stop might finally move forward, another round of back and forth begins between the officer and the driver. >> I just don't understand if it's a traffic stop or supposedly you think I was speeding. >> Yep. >> Why are you searching my car when you have me step? It's >> not a search. It's not searching your car. We're allowed to look inside of your vehicle from the outside. You have no expectation of privacy in your vehicle. We are not searching your vehicle. That's completely different. A search is when we are inside of your vehicle looking around. Okay. Now, >> that's a search. >> Why do I have to have my door open? >> So, right now, you have your door open for officer safety. Okay. Because your vehicle was not in park. You weren't you weren't you weren't exhibiting your driver's license, registration, or insurance upon ask, >> right? It's your right to ask for supervisor, but you still have to exhibit those things when we ask for them. >> But I wait on the person. You're on a traffic stop. Wait on on to them. It's not like I'm going to run off while he gets here. >> Well, your vehicle wasn't in park when I got here. You were in reverse though. >> Yes. That's why I was trying to park it and when I tried to park it, >> he literally put his phone on. >> Well, because your vehicle was moving, >> right? >> But obviously you can tell going to do anything. >> Well, we don't know that, right? You you have the all the intention in the world from you you have to look from our point of view, right? You're inside of a vehicle. We are not. You have the right to you can drive straight through. We can't stop you cuz we're outside of a vehicle. We don't we're not Superman, right? >> Mhm. >> You're still your vehicle is still in reverse whether you knew it or not and it's backing up as we're talking to you, right? So these things are now leading us to, >> you know, >> right? And it makes us nervous, right, when we're asking for items, you know, on a >> on a legal on a legal traffic stop, right? >> Where we're asking for these items to be exhibited. >> Is it It's Dominique. All right. Go ahead. Step out of the vehicle for me. >> At this stage, the officers have made their decision. The officers now hope the woman chooses to cooperate. >> All right, turn and face that way for me. Place your hands behind your back. Place your hands behind your back right here. Perfect. >> Uh, hold on just a second. >> No, at this point now you are under arrest. Where are my underwear? >> Uh, street racing. >> Uh, do you want your phone and your wallet to go with you to the jail? >> So, if you can tell him to drive my car home? >> Uh, no. We're towing the car because it was involved in the crime. >> So, do you want the phone and the wallet or you want us to just leave it in there and then it'll get towed to the tow truck to tow company? >> I would like to get my phone. >> Phone? Anything else or just your phone? >> And my wallet. >> And your wallet? Was that the thing that you had like the wrist? uh thing. Okay, I'll make sure both of those go with you to the >> What about him? >> What about >> He's not going to jail. >> No, he's not. >> He was Can you explain? >> He was cooperative and he got he got a court date that he will go to >> for his part. Why wasn't that optional? >> You were not cooperative. >> I was cooperative. I gave my license to your supervisor. >> No, I asked >> and I opened the door. >> I asked you for it. >> Yeah, but I have the right to ask for someone else. >> So, how would I go to jail for that? It's okay. You're not going to jail for that. You're going to jail for street racing. That's what you're going to jail for. >> Yeah. And he's not going to jail for. I should have the right to have and if I should have the right to either give me a ticket if you think I was speeding cuz I wasn't speeding and I need a proof of that. And then >> if you're going to give me a ticket, then send me to court. But why why arrest me? >> This is it's an arrestable offense. It's it's my discretion as to whether or not I'm going to arrest someone or not. >> And you arrest me because I said to speak to someone else >> and I did. No, I you're the authority. You decide you want to arrest me for that, go ahead and do that. But >> I I mean I was letting you dictate the whole situation. And you >> It's just super didn't cooperate with me. >> Never been to before. I mean, this is just >> Now that the woman has been detained, the officer reads her Miranda rightites before the encounter moves any further. >> While we're waiting, I'll just read this to you. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be held against you in a court of law. You have the right to talk to an attorney and have him or her present with you before and during questioning. If you cannot afford to hire an attorney, one will be appointed to represent you at no cost to you before and during questioning if you wish. If you decide at any time to exercise these rights and not answer any questions or make any statements, do you understand each of these rights I have explained to you? >> Yes. >> Having these uh it should just be like a little wrist wallet that she had. She said that that and the phone is the only thing she said to go with her to the jail. Sorry. Do you understand each of these rights I have explained to you? >> Yes. >> Having these rights in mind, do you wish to speak with me now? >> No. >> Okay. >> Can I speak to him before you take me? >> Speak to who? >> To the other driver. >> To the other driver. So I don't have to let you speak with him. Does that make sense? >> Yes. I'm asking him. So, I don't I don't have to. Why would I cooperate with your request and let you talk to him when you didn't simply give me your license? >> But you can arrest me for waiting on giving you the license. Like for waiting some arrest, >> I'm not arresting you for that. The I'm arresting you for speeding and for street racing. >> The arrestable offense was the street racing part. That's what I'm arresting you for. Yeah, but what took you to do that was because I didn't give you my license. >> You had the option to be cooperative and you weren't. >> And but I was though. I was trying to park my car properly and then your >> You tried to leave. >> I didn't try to leave. >> You're lucky I don't charge you with uh resisting without violence. >> Are you serious? >> You put your car in drive and tried to get out when I was standing on the side of your car. >> I was parking my my car. >> Guess what? This camera was on the entire time. I'm glad he was. But >> so to tell me that you didn't, come on. >> Before they can leave the scene, the officers [music] wait for a female officer to arrive and conduct a patown search. >> This isn't my first rodeo. That's so boy. She's coming from a long ways away. Good. >> Can you find out if you can talk to me? >> Have a seat right inside there. Careful, it's not comfortable. The encounter ultimately concluded with a woman being charged with a traffic infraction and obstruction. Girl gives the worst excuse after getting caught breaking traffic laws. Our next case begins on December [music] 14th, 2024 when officers spotted a woman allegedly driving erratically, heading the wrong way down a one-way street and [music] nearly colliding with a patrol car. Here's what happened next. >> 1050 on 50 ones. Christ. Fine. You got to get out. >> Stop the car. >> Hi, officer. >> What is your problem? >> I'm sorry. I >> You nearly about to hit my car. You You tried to run a red light. I noticed that when I when I went I was treating it as like a stop sign and I was like I'm so sorry. >> Do you have your driver's license with you? >> I do. >> Where are you coming from? >> Miami. I'm not used to the streets. I'm >> The streets are the same streets that's in Miami. Neither your thing. All the all these little Listen. Listen. All the little red lights are the same. All stop signs are the same. All these little yellow lines are the same. Where are you coming from? >> From the bow parade. >> Okay. How much you had to drink tonight? >> Not much. >> Okay. All right. Just chill right there for me. My phone's been dead. >> Okay. All right. Chill right there. >> Jeez. No. Go. Go back that way. Ain't going down the street. >> I'll let you cross. >> Okay. What's up? >> So, did you call the unit over? >> Yeah. Keep talking. Okay. Savannah. Okay. Well, you just hang tight, right? I'm just gonna uh do a few things, but Okay. Well, what do we have to do? >> Um >> I'm just here as backup. Uh my the other officer is doing his own thing. I don't know. But like >> I I'm just here, like I said, just back up. He's the primary officer. >> I think I was hearing something. >> What's that? >> Nothing. >> The next step is identifying the driver and checking her information. During the conversation, however, the officer notices something that doesn't seem quite right. >> Are you 28? I'll be honest with you. Have you um did you have anything to drink or anything like that? >> No, I'm fine. Okay. Cuz like what you told me that you were nervous, you didn't have your phone. So it makes >> I told I'm not following her. Okay. >> Literally my phone is dead. >> You don't have to uh look for it. It's just >> Oh, it's right here. Okay. Do >> you see us behind you? >> No. >> Where you were? Okay. >> Cuz that would have been a horrible accident. You were in the middle of that uh intersection there and it's the one way. >> I went on a oneway. >> Yeah, you were in the intersection of a oneway. >> Oh, yeah. I know. I was at the intersection. >> That I know. I know. And I literally in the middle of it I was like, "Wait, oh my god." I just like I caught myself. >> So, how are you going to get home if you don't know where you're going? Just kind of >> trying to remember. >> Okay. Trying to remember. >> Yes. Like I shouldn't have done that. I mean, it's night time and stuff and I don't know where I'm at. >> Okay. >> Like I I'm not used to the streets. >> Yeah, I get though. >> You should have better prepared next time to have your phone charged. I sure have. You know, honestly, this is like a lesson >> for me. >> Hey, Savannah, can you do me a favor? Can you turn off the car for me? >> Yeah. >> Another officer soon arrives, and it doesn't take long for his partner to bring him up to speed on everything that's unfolded so far. >> Why was it stop? >> Explain the stop to me. Uh so she stopped at the at the red light, continued uh forward and like literally stopped at a red light. Like she stopped and then continued forward and like tried to take a left and then stopped. >> Okay. >> And we pulled her over because of that reason cuz she was in the middle of an intersection at a red light. >> Yeah. >> And then she pulled over here. >> Okay. And what what was like the first encounter? Um, H. I was in the It was Hanso. I don't know what he said, but yeah. >> All right. Let me talk to him. Okay. >> All right. What's your name? >> Savannah. >> Savannah. Hi, I'm Officer Young, the Key West Police Department. >> Hello. >> Um, so obviously I come for traffic stops. My main thing is DUIs, right? I want to make sure everything is okay. >> Yes. Um, so listen, um, from what I got from my other two officers of the stop, there are there are indications that you may I'm not saying you are, but you may be under the influence of alcohol, right? >> Did Did you um Where are you coming from tonight? >> The bull range. >> The bullp. Okay. Listen. >> Um, so what I want to do, >> I want to just make sure that you are not under influence cuz I don't want to have like a car crash or any type of like thing. So, what I'm asking you, what was your first name? I'm sorry. >> Savannah. >> Savannah. I'm sorry. >> Savannah. >> Um, if you're willing to participate in field security exercises just so I can dispel my the belief that you are under the influence of alcohol, right? >> Okay. >> Um, >> you might have said that you had some earlier. >> I just want to make sure that that's kind of out of your system by now >> so that you're okay to drive. That's that's why I'm here. >> No, not you. >> Understand that? I understand. >> Okay. So, are you willing to participate? So, just so we can display my display of you on the device. Okay. >> The officer suspicions are growing. Now comes the traffic stop to determine whether the driver is in fact impaired. >> So, what do I stand in the middle of the road? >> We're just going to go like to that sidewalk right over there. Okay. So, so these it's I'm going to explain everything. It's all pretty simple exercises. It's not to stress you. It's really just to check to make sure everything is okay. Right. >> How old are you? >> 28. >> You're 28. Okay. Have you ever been pulled over like this before? No. Okay. So, listen. I'm going to explain everything for you just so you know. Okay. Do you have like any type of medical conditions? >> No. >> Um, do you wear contacts? >> No. >> All right. Do you wear glasses? >> No. >> Are any of your eyes fake? >> No. >> It's a weird question. >> I know. I know. I'm like, but no. >> It's one of those questions why I do have. Okay. >> Um, so like I said before, I'm going to explain all the exercises. I'm I'm even going to do them as well. >> Okay. >> Just so you can see what you have to do. Okay. >> All right. So, see this line right here? >> Mhm. >> Kind of just stand like right forward. >> Um, just stand with like your hands to your side like this. >> Okay. And as I explain it again, um just uh keep your hands to your side and just just like that. Okay. >> Okay. >> So, this is just a regular pen. It's a stimulus. Um so, just like before, you're just going to kind of follow the tip of it. Kind of like tip where my finger is. >> Okay. >> You're just going to follow it with your eyes only. Okay. Ma'am. >> Okay. >> Wait. I Wait. Don't move my head. Right. >> Okay. Do you want to start over again? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. Don't worry. >> I mean, we don't have to, but it's fine. >> Okay. Try not to put this right in your eye. Okay. >> No, it's fine. >> I'm going to go up now. Okay, now comes the next test. Okay. So, this next one is uh it's called the it's pretty much the walk and turn. So, it really just checks your balance. Okay. >> Okay. >> Can you say I'm on a single one? >> Yeah. >> Um so, kind of just like you before. I'm going to >> 103. >> You're going to kind of stand here right there and I'm going to explain everything. Okay. >> Okay. >> So, >> uh you can change this pause to a single one. >> Come on. Paul 84. I'm on a single one investigation. Um, so you're going to kind of stand just like that. And as you walk, you're going to count out loud like 1 2 3. Just like this. One, two, three. And when you get to nine, you're just going to take quick small steps back. >> So to nine. >> To nine. >> Okay. >> Do you have any questions for that? >> No. >> Okay. >> Start with the left. >> Yep. Just >> just remember whenever you're ready, you can begin. 4 5 6 7 8 9 and then start over. One, two, >> okay, >> a little. >> All right. Um, so the last one is just another balance check. Um, it's called a one leg stand. >> And then just keep my leg up. >> Yeah. You're just going to keep your leg up. >> Okay. You're going to look look down at it. Keep your arms to your side. And you're going to count out loud. 1 1,00 2 100 3 100 4 Okay. Do Do you understand everything? Okay. Just give me one second. >> Like you said 1,000 1,000 2,000 >> like 1 1,000 2 1,000 >> 2 1,000. Okay. 1,000. >> Are you Are you ready? >> Yes. >> Okay. You may begin. >> Okay. 1 1 100,00 2 100 3 100 4 100 4 >> The woman stumbles through the one leg stand and once again asks the officers for another attempt >> and then start over. >> I'm sorry. >> Do you want to you want to start over? >> Up until like when do I count up until one? >> I'm sorry. I'm just nervous. >> It's okay. It's okay. I'll explain it again. Okay. >> You're going to put your hands to your side as I explain it. >> Right. 1 100 1,00 2 100 3 100 4 100 5 100 6 100 7 100 8 100 9 100 11 100 12 100 13 100 14 100 15 100 16 100 17 100 18 100 >> Stop. You can stop. Okay, it's Savannah, correct? >> Savannah. >> Savannah. I just want to make sure. Listen, unfortunately, I do believe you're still under the influence of alcohol. >> But I'm not. >> Uh, from my my training experience, I I do believe that you're under the influence. So, unfortunately, I'm going to have to have you to turn around. Have you turn around? Put your hands behind your back. >> The arrest unfolds [music] without incident as the woman cooperates throughout the process. Good. >> I'm not trying to put these on tight. Okay. >> So, what's going to happen now? >> I'm going to explain every everything to you. Okay. >> Okay. >> I want you not to know. Let's come over here and I'm going to explain more to you. Okay, ma'am. >> Okay. >> Cross this way. Stop the traffic. Do you have anything in your pockets that you're aware of? Like you don't have any like hidden anywhere cuz I don't want you to get any type of additional charge. I'm just going to kind of pat you down with the back of my hand. Okay. >> Do you have like a cell phone or wallet or anything? >> No. >> It's all in the car. >> What? >> It's all in the car. >> It's all in the car. Okay. to put these on tight. Okay, ma'am. In the end, the woman was charged with DUI. Law student thought she could ignore police orders. She was wrong. On January 1st, 2024, officers initiated a traffic stop after allegedly observing a driver behaving erratically. Here's how the encounter unfolded. >> Hi. >> Hi. >> How are you? >> Good. How are you? >> Good. I'm Officer Baker with Mary Police. Do you have a driver's license insurance card with you? >> Yep. >> Hey, so that flashing red light, that means you have to wait until the like it's safe to to proceed. >> I'm sorry. I thought it was a four-way. >> No, >> I'm sorry. No, the the traffic running east and west has a flashing yellow light, which means they go and you have to wait until they go. >> Hey, Elizabeth, could you step out here with me? >> Yeah. >> Your car park? >> It is. >> Okay. >> Hey, so uh how much have you had to drink tonight? >> I had a couple glasses of wine earlier, but I'm I'm I live on >> Okay. And that's where I'm headed now. >> Okay. Where were you coming from? >> Um, Paduka area. >> Okay. How long ago did you drink the wine? >> Uh, several hours ago. >> It's been a while. >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. Um, so you're I can smell it on you. And with that driving, I'm kind of kind of worried. So, I need to do a few tests. That's okay with you and make sure that you're not intoxicated. >> Sure. >> Okay. All right. Um, I'll have you step right back here with me. I'll be honest with you. My and my angles are not that good. >> Why you backing away? >> Just whenever >> you come over here. I can't even hear you. So, what were you saying? >> Just my ankles are not that good in terms of stepping, but I'm good. I mean, >> okay. Let me check your eyes real quick. How about that? Do you have any issues with your eyes? Okay. Just stand right there for me. Okay. Face me. You stay right there. >> Yeah. >> Can you stand still? Yep. >> Okay. Can you put your hands down at your side out of your pockets? >> Okay. >> The investigation now moves to the first field sobriety test as the officer looks for possible signs of impairment. >> Can you see the tip of this pin right here? No. >> Okay. I'm going to move it side to side. Okay. I want you to follow it with your eyes and your eyes only. Don't move your head. Okay. Just move your eyes to follow it. You understand? And you can see it. Okay. You can see it. Okay. I'm asking you a question. Can you see it? Okay. >> Eyes are not great. >> Okay. Can you see this the the tip of the pin here? Let me try one that's maybe a little shinier. Easier to see. Can you see that right there where my finger is? >> The other one might honestly be better. >> All right, we'll use that one. Either way works for me. Okay. You can see that right there where my finger is. >> Okay. Okay. Whenever I move this, follow it with your eyes and your eyes only. Okay? Don't move your head. All right? >> What's What's up with your ankles? He said they're >> they're just they're I don't have a a great amount ankle mobility. >> Okay. All right. Are you okay standing on one foot? Um, I mean, yeah, 10 real. >> Step right over here with me, Elizabeth. >> So, this next test is called the walk and turn. >> I'm really not good >> at what? >> At the the >> the heel to toe. Have Do you have a DUI before? >> I No, I mean, I've just been stopped and and I'm I'm good. It's just that I cannot. >> Okay. >> I mean, I I can't I do whatever else you But I I mean, I can't do I can't turn. >> Okay. >> For whatever reason, I It's not >> Next, the officers conduct the heel to toe test. >> So, the turn is what you have issues with. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. Well, let's give it a shot. All right. So, come stand right here by me. Hold on. Let me let me explain it to you. All right. >> What I want you to do first is stand with your your right foot in front of your left foot. Just stay right there. Put your right foot in front of your left foot like this. Heel to toe like I am. >> Okay. Then when I tell you to begin, I'll ask you to take nine steps in a straight line. Heel to toe steps like this. >> One, two. I'm just >> Just stay right there. It's okay. Just stay right there for now. All the way down to nine. Okay. Once you get to nine, I want you to just to turn around. All you got to do is take a series of small steps like that. You don't have to do like an about face or anything. Just a couple small steps and then nine steps back, heel to toe. >> You understand? >> And I'm I'm not, you know, >> trying to get you in any way, you know. It's just I I that's not necessarily something I can do. >> Okay. >> Were you want to try it or you're you're kind of acting like you're taking off with it? But >> but I'm I've just never been able to do I've just never been able to do that. >> Okay. >> Do you have any alcohol in your car? >> No. >> Okay. And how long ago did you say you drink? >> Few hours ago. >> The woman insists she only had a few glasses of wine. The officer, however, continues evaluating whether everything he's observed so far lines up with her account. >> All right. And what did what all did you drink? >> Just a couple glasses of wine. >> Okay. >> And you're welcome to search my car. I mean, I I don't have anything to hide from you. Okay. Now, >> I live on West Coast and I'm good, you know. >> All right. >> But I just apparently did not understand, you know, >> the light. Okay. >> Yeah. >> Well, would you be willing to do a breath test? >> Yeah. >> Okay, cool. >> Well, I mean, I'm Yeah, I mean, I would probably want to talk to my train. >> Okay. >> You know, call him real quick. But, I mean, I'm good. It's just that >> Well, you've given me several signs that you're not good is why I'm asking. It's I mean your your driving habits, your the clues that you've demonstrated during the the test that you have done kind of lead me to believe that you might have had maybe a little bit more than a couple glasses of wine and that you're probably still intoxicated. I you know if you want to I mean my eyes I think are good and I >> Well, you had what's called nestagmas in your eyes which tends to happen whenever people consumed a pretty substantial amount of alcohol. >> Mhm. >> By now the officers have seen enough to make their next move. From here the encounter takes a very different turn. >> I mean I I definitely need to talk to my attorney. >> Okay. That's something we can do. You can do after a while. But right now, I'm gonna have to place you under arrest for DUI. Okay? So, don't go back to your car. Come here. >> No. Don't go back to your car. Don't go back to your car. What are you doing? >> Stop. Stop. Stop. >> You are doing this. >> Stop. Put on the ground. Okay. Please stop. Okay. Trying to get her a different cuff. Yep. There's your stop kick. >> Elizabeth, if you kick me, you're going to regret it. I promise you. Okay. Not sure why you wanted me to go that route. >> Even in handcuffs, the woman continues making things difficult for the officers. >> Listen. >> What? >> What? I'm listening. >> We're good. >> Okay. Well, come on back here. You got to go sit in the car. >> No. >> Yeah. >> Well, put my ears. Whatever. Can I just >> Oh, we can't do anything now. >> Please. >> No. Here. Go with her. Quit. Trying to pull your hands away. Where are you thinking you're going? Elizabeth. Like, just stop. >> Yeah. It's done. All right. What are you doing? >> You're just making it worse on yourself. Just stop. >> Come on. Just We're at school. >> Okay. Well, I'm not sure what that has to do with anything, but just come sit in the car. Don't start kicking. >> You guys, >> are you going to sit in the car like an adult? Elizabeth, >> you want to talk to me like that? You guys are cup. >> You want more? Got it. >> Didn't have to go this way. Elizabeth >> can't get it unlocked. >> Just calm down. Okay, >> the officers have given the woman every opportunity to cooperate. At this point, there's little left [music] to discuss. >> [snorts] >> You guys already done this to me. >> I haven't. I've never met you yet >> for no reason. >> Well, tonight I had plenty reason. >> You almost caused a wreck. >> The you want to do >> Well, obviously not. >> But it's like I >> No, that'll work. Okay. Go around that side. Dude, I ate so much tonight. >> I'm glad that it's so funny that >> I'm glad it's funny to you. >> It wasn't laughing at you, Elizabeth. >> Can you scoot it in there? The encounter ultimately concluded with a woman facing charges [music] of DUI and resisting arrest. This motheraughter duo picked the wrong officers to challenge. Our final case begins with what appears to be a routine traffic stop. That quickly changes when the driver's mother unexpectedly arrives and inserts herself into the encounter. First you car >> not. He just told me to stand right here on the sidewalk. >> That's not a brake light, ma'am. That's not a brake light. >> What's out your brake light? >> So So who's the sergeant? Who's a sergeant? So all of y'all NOT ONE SERGEANT SHOW I KNOW SHE ASKED for a sergeant. I know for a patient I know she asked for a sergeant cuz I was on the phone. So which which one of y'all didn't give a sergeant? >> He did not. >> I was on the phone. >> What you talking about? Oh yeah. You need to get out of you get in trouble too. >> You need >> Okay. We'll get you a supervisor if you go wait inside your vehicle. >> I'll wait right here. >> Okay. I'm in a saddle. Will you uh will you do me a huge favor? >> Will you do me a huge favor? >> Will you do me a huge favor? Just stay away from your door. Either get in or stay away just cuz I don't want cars coming up. >> Okay, that's okay. >> What else is there? Tell me what happened. >> We're not at your apartment. >> Cuz I seen you at my apartment. >> And we're not I'm not here to argue. We're going to get We're going to get our sergeant. We're going to get our sergeant. >> You We're going to get our >> answer. >> I'm not yelling. I'm talking. There's cars coming out. How about this? >> See where I got your apartment? You don't own that. That's That's private property, right? In an apartment. That's not your house. In an apartment for an apartment, >> right? We weren't in your apartment. We were in the complex that does not belong to you. Did you have something? >> It doesn't belong. >> It's not yours. >> The officer's attention is initially on the driver, but that changes the moment her mother arrives. From here, tensions quickly begin to rise. >> How many police officers take somebody else? >> We We're all rid together with detectives. >> Oh, you ride deep like that? >> Yes, we do. >> No, absolutely not. >> So, you ride with them everywhere you go? >> I'm in the back car by myself. >> Okay. >> You can pull him over. You could pull him over by yourself. >> I wasn't out here. >> All right. It's wasting time. Yeah, don't worry about it. Just stand by. Go ahead, y'all. >> Will both of y'all come here? >> No. Will both of y'all come here, please? >> So, basically, to give my rundown of what I'm where I'm at. >> Am I not having a problem? Do you not see this as a problem? >> You got to get >> Can I both y'all come over here? >> Come. Hey, come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. All right. No, you can. Come here. Come here. Hey, come here. No. No. Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. Ma'am. Ma'am. Ma'am. Ma'am. >> You're coming at me. What do I mean? Back up. Back up. >> I need You're not You're coming at me. >> Tell her to back up. She keeps coming up to us. >> Can we go to the front of y'all's cars? Please >> tell her to back up. Do it now. Do it now. If you're happy, tell her to back up. >> Will y'all come to her? >> Tell her to back up. >> Will y'all come to the front of y'all's car? >> Can you tell her to shut up? >> Can y'all just give me a second, y'all? Give me a second. All right. Coming at us. >> Come on. Come on. Threat. >> All right. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on, y'all. Come on. Come. Come up here. Come holl at me. >> Before the investigation can continue, the officer first has to bring the situation back under control [music] and hear both sides. >> Holl at me. All right. Okay. From my understanding. Okay. I'm on patrol today. Okay. These are investigators. They usually do on certain cases. They do ride quite a few investigators in one car. Yeah. >> Okay. They performed a traffic stop on your daughter, right? >> Yes. >> Okay. Your daughter, you can't even ask them because they want to see here and they don't want to answer nothing. >> I'm working the road. >> I know. I'm married to I was married to a cop. I know. >> All right. They called me out here because investigators, they don't usually carry around ticket books. >> So, y'all gave her a ticket for life and >> all that. I didn't. They just asked for the paper. >> You know why? You know why? Because they want proof of why they stopped her. So, what I would do, all right, >> she asked for a sergeant already. They did not give her. >> I'm not a sergeant. I'm >> understand. They said they're waiting on you to come back. >> I'm an NO. Okay. So, I I'm a little something. I'm not their kid yet. Okay. >> But they asked for you because they said they didn't have no tickets and she asked right then because her dad's a police officer. >> So, so that's B. So, that's basically what I'm doing. As far as I know, they were investigating another case >> and they won't even tell when they're referencing the referencing the apartment complex right here. >> Okay. That I'm I'm going to be honest with you. Cody. Okay. I'm going tell you straight up. I was called here to bring a paper citation. >> Doesn't matter. Why does it matter what he if he where he rides or whatever? That's none of their questions about somebody. We don't even know. >> I got you. So, the best way to go about this, >> he's not out here. All right. So, those are all investigators. Best way to go about it, they they have Sergeant Kro Jackson. Okay. They have Sergeant Todd Hendris back there in C. Okay. >> But I got a question for you. >> Okay. Go ahead. >> If I come at you like this, are you going to be afraid? >> No. If I come at you, why is it okay she comes at me? Why is it okay that every that she walked up here to us and if I walked there she says you can get arrested too. I was in the I had he asked me to move it out of the road. He goes she goes you had to get in here. You want to get what I what I will say in in in nonbiased as possible. I'm not going to condone anybody's behavior out here thus far. Okay. The officers give both women a chance to explain themselves, but instead of easing tensions, the discussion only grows more heated. >> Yes. But don't don't surround my daughter and don't ask. When I was on the phone >> and I'm on the phone and I hear none of them get a sergeant. We're I come from Jackson and I still haven't got a sergeant out here 30 minutes. >> I That's something I was also unaware of. Okay. I was unaware of the notifications. >> They even talked They even talked to her father. He's a police officer. Uh he >> and they didn't do nothing about it. They're still sitting here like a I mean >> what you need to do if you have any issues with that. Okay. >> Where's the sergeant? >> Um I guess standing by waiting to see what >> Why is it okay? And I'm not trying to call. Why is it every time a white girl and a black guy get together? There is a problem down here. I understand. But they say something every time to her with a black guy. >> Every time I get >> It's 2020. >> Why I have a black guy in my car? >> She's done got pulled over like three times. This is my family. Like this is my family. Is it because we're different colors? Like they have >> Do you have uh So, how many times does that leave? >> Three. >> A lot. So far. >> What I'm going to say in the same reference to what you're arguing with over here, >> you need to go to the PD. Okay. If you have any issue with anything that's been going on, any record of it, if you have anything back, >> so what So what I would do So what I would do is I would go to the PD. Okay. >> Did you show your ID when she asked you? >> Did they identify themselves as police officer? You want to see my ID? I'll show you my ID. Did you show my daughter when you pulled her over? >> I didn't pull her over. >> Are you in that car? >> She was in the car behind them. >> Is I left Jackson and you still haven't got a guard in here. I was 30 minutes away and still beat your sergeant. >> The woman now demands to speak with a sergeant and a supervisor. When that doesn't immediately happen, her frustration only grows. And before long, the encounter takes yet another turn. 484. >> I need a card. They've been on the way this whole time. Can I have y'all's names and everything since y'all don't have nothing on? >> I I let her know all my information. >> I I asked for her, but I asked Can you Can you give me a card? That's why >> How do you pull some over here and you don't have a card? >> You're You're not even in full. >> Ma'am Ma'am, I want to know questions and ma'am ma'am, you have to answer them. Ma'am, ma'am, you have to answer them. >> She stuff over there. No, she come at me and you didn't do nothing. >> I'm asking you to step over there. >> She did the same thing and you didn't do nothing. >> I'm giving you an order to step over there. >> I asked her to step away from me. Step over there. >> I want y'all's information >> and we will give it to you once our sergeant come. >> When is your sergeant coming? You got to you step over there. That's the last I'm leaving. Step over there. >> Calm down. No, get off. She cannot GRAB ME LIKE THIS. SHE CANNOT GRAB me like this. She cannot grab me like this. Okay. But I'm going to go 108. Okay, >> bro. Tell No. Get somebody out. GET OUT OF TOWN. Get in your car. Yeah. I'm going to the place. >> You can't touch me. >> Stop. If I'm a receptionist, I mean, I should get off. >> I don't know how they're good. when I asked her multiple times to step back >> and pilot was like, "I'm going 10." Like, we did something wrong. >> Why are supervisors here? Back up. Supervising my face and THEY'RE NOT DOING NOTHING about it. >> Moments later, a sergeant arrives to assess the situation. Instead of bringing the encounter to a close, however, it quickly spirals into another round of chaos. >> What do you want with me, man? >> I want to know one, why my daughter's pulled over. Two, why they were at her apartment. >> Were you part of this rap? >> Don't tell us. >> Take her >> for what? I'm asking a question. Do you have all these underruct? >> Get back in the car if YOU WANT TO GO, TOO. >> GET IN the car. No. >> Get in the car if you want to go. If you want to go too, >> you're going to jail for instructions. >> Are you serious? >> Get back in the car. >> Get in the car. Get in the car. >> Get her in the car. Get her in the car. I ain't driving. I can't I can't walk. >> Do you want to go with your mom? She's going regardless. Do you want to go with your mom? >> Do you want to go with your mom? >> You was about to be on your way. >> All this is extra. >> You was about to be on your way. All this is extra >> the door. I want to talk to you. >> You pulled up on a traffic stop. >> Ask a question. Sir, >> do you have anyone that can drive? >> I was asking a question because they WERE AT MY DAUGHTER'S HOUSE. >> OKAY. >> Pull up on a traffic stop and interfere with law. >> Yeah. Look, it took me to get here. I come all the way from Jackson to 2011 here and you still haven't showed up. >> I'm telling you, if I would have heard your daughter asking for a cop, >> my she got my husband on the phone. He's a police. My ex-husband, he's a police officer. >> She's going to do Can I have a sergeant? >> So, ma'am, I promise on my life I promise on my daddy. >> By now, everyone involved has had enough of the woman. It's time to bring the traffic stop to a close. >> Talking to you. She was talking. She said, "Ma'am, ma'am, so with one of y'all, I told you I don't >> Can you please I was not trying to interrupt, but I was asking a question. >> You're all up in it. How can you not be >> My daughter is scared because they come they're on the phone with me and all I can hear is you yelling. >> They won't even get their ID. They won't even give their ID. You did. You did. Yes, ma'am. You did. And you have ID on. They don't. You got this one and this one that doesn't have >> Trying to keep Can you please stop touching me? Please put her in the car and get I'm trying to clear the scene. She needs to get in the car. >> Can you please ma'am? Get her in the car. Please get her in the car. >> You need to leave. You need to car to the car. To the car. Please leave. >> Please leave before you go too. I've given you order to leave. Now leave. Thank you. Yeah. >> You have a good rest of your night >> and I hope you enjoy your night. >> Crank up your car and leave. >> Stop talking to me. Can you still keep talking to me? What? >> Leave. >> Still talking to me. >> Can y'all step away from my car? Please step away from my car. Step away from my car. >> I'm going tell you one more time. Go. >> I can't move. I can't. >> I'm telling you right now. >> Open the door. >> Open the door. Open the door. Open the door. I cannot move. Open the door. Move, sir. I cannot move. >> Get out the car. Under arrest. >> You get off. You won't let me. I tried to leave and you wouldn't let me leave. Both women were ultimately charged with obstruction. Which encounter surprised you [music] the most?
