On April 11th, 2023, officers responded to a residence in reference to a shoplifting. The Dollar Tree manager noticed a couple of shoplifterss at closing time. She confronted the male suspect and was able to recover the multiple shampoo bottles he had in his bag. When officers arrived, they were gone, so they had to look at the security cameras to figure out who they were. They identified the man. And who would have guessed it? He's allegedly been arrested for shoplifting 12 times. We were looking for him because I knew he was in here and I was watching her on the side. That's why I was pretending to get buggy. So, she's watching the door cuz I was like, he's still in here somewhere, but we couldn't find him and he was in the corner over there getting the body wash. We'll see the whole thing. >> I want to get a picture of her. >> That's arguing about the bag. >> Okay, y'all got to get a camera over there. >> He will know where we got him at, believe it or not. But he's been coming in the last few days. Like I said, other day he had about four or five book bags. Oh, she's gonna come out through here and she don't buy nothing. >> It was like right at 10 cuz I had just made an announcement that we were closed. >> See her purse? Yeah. She got her arm around it. >> Go ahead and play it and see if we can get a good >> a little side view. >> All right. >> Is that all you pretty much needed? Cuz I mean, >> yeah, that's fine. >> Both of them came from there. >> Yeah. You're not going to have any footage of them from over there. So, we don't know how much merchandise she stole. No, everything in here is what? A dollar? >> 125. >> 125. >> And all of our shoplifters come from over there. When I walked up, she was standing over here. >> Can you give me like a rough estimate of what how much she took of miscellaneous? >> I have no idea cuz when I walked up, she was in action. So, I don't know. She was here stuffing and I came around and made a loop and then when she went out. So I don't know >> how much you might have already had in there or how many more items she put. >> All right. I have your >> picture of the stuff or anything before I put it back. >> Nope. I got it all on. >> Like I said, that bag is his because he came in with it. >> Well, if he comes back for it, >> just give us a call. >> All right. Thank you. >> They were able to find the couple at a nearby motel. The officer showed them the security footage and this is what they had to say. >> I'm That ain't me. I went in the Dollar Tree, sir. >> Huh? >> I went in the Dollar Tree. >> Yeah, that's where that's from. >> What? >> That picture I just showed you. >> Yeah, >> it's from the Dollar Tree. Y'all just shoplifted a bunch of stuff from there. >> I did not. I ain't got a purse. You can look and see. Did I bring you? I don't shoplift, sir. >> Where's your pink bag? >> I don't shop at all. The young lady, the lightkinned lady with the red. >> I want to bar him. He was trying to sell Ray sunglasses earlier. >> Oh, no. We good, brother. I'm saying there was something that was already given to me. >> What's your name? >> My name is Mike. >> Mike what? >> 94 Central. I have contact with the suspect. >> Put your shoes on, sir. >> Put your shoes on, sir. >> I don't You need to get out of there. >> Where's all the health and beauty products? What helping be parties? I don't have no help and beauty parties. This stuff was inside of a bag and and we put it by the door when we left out. That's the light. >> How about all the other stuff that you took? She saw you take it. >> Who? >> She saw you the manager. >> She with me. I got a lot of secret. >> Is it Mike or Michael? >> Michael. >> Michael. >> I don't still My husband works. >> What's your birthday? 70. What's your >> My name's Tammy. >> Call it the lightkinned young lady. She'll tell you. You know what I'm saying? I was out there talking to you about a lotus call or something. >> What's your uh >> I'm 1971. >> Yeah. If you could just ask her to hold on for just a few minutes, please. >> She's maybe at the door. The only reason why she me because I show her two names. I don't have anything. I'm not walking out with anything. >> That's what I did. >> Okay. So, >> did she accuse you of stealing something? >> I No, I didn't steal anything. >> Did she accuse you of doing that? >> Yes, sir. Yes, sir. >> That's right. >> So, you put the stuff down. >> So, here's here's what >> of course >> I'm here for. Of course, >> I have her on camera and him on camera shoplifting over at the Dollar Tree. >> I didn't take nothing. >> Sir, >> just be quiet for a minute. Let me speak. system. >> So, to avoid any further inconvenience to y'all, if you would allow me to come in, search for the missing items that are from over there. Okay? Just let me come in real quick. I'll I'll do a quick search, look for the items that I'm looking for. >> Okay? Or I can have y'all step out. I can go secure a search warrant. You'd be standing out here in the cold for a little while and we can go that route. >> Will you invite me in to come look for the missing items? If there if you truly haven't taken anything >> if if I don't know if you took anything, just give it to him. >> From what I was intending to take, I kind of gave it to you. >> I ain't touch nothing. You can come in here all you want to take a look at cuz I ain't >> So ma'am, I appreciate your cooperation. if you would just sit down while he's doing that, please. Thank you. >> I put my shoes on right now. >> Yeah, man. You put your shoes on. >> I know it's cold on the ground, man. what you said. You know what I'm saying? >> You know what they said? I'm allowed. You know what I'm saying? >> Ain't no needles or nothing in here, right? >> So, I don't have to complete the crime. You know what I mean? >> No, I don't do needles. >> Like just an attempted crime is still a crime. >> I was just letting them check. I don't do no medicine. My medicine's over there. I take bipolar masks. >> You got bipol. >> Where'd you get these from? >> My husband bought them. I got one in my hair. Ces, I got one in my bag, too, that he bought. >> All right. >> Yeah. I don't steal that. >> So, M, you've been very honest with me about what's happened this evening. So do you want to give your give me do you want to tell me what happened? >> When I was coming what's up when I was coming inside the park I seen you as me you know. Yeah. >> I had intent to buy a pencil I mean a pack of pencil and some shower shoes for my daughter. Did see a couple things that I could have possibly got away. So I got you the door and ask me that and I told her I told her yeah I said can am I allowed to put it she said yeah she can put it right there on the floor and I allowed you to go said but she's going to call the police I said okay she said but we not going to have you arrest a person in char and we appreciate you you know what I'm saying give me you know our stuff back >> all right >> so she let me walk >> all You just stay right there. Okay. >> Stay with them for a sec. >> You know, like she said, wasn't the issue concerning, you know, what she said. >> I mean, I'll I'll tell you. >> You No, no, no. I'll tell you what we've been told. Okay. Just so y'all are aware, right? So, we were given the exact descriptions that you two are still wearing, right, of y'all's clothing. Um, we were told that >> you were filling your bag in the health and beauty section. >> Not me. >> So, ma'am, I'm just telling you what we've been told. Okay. >> Yeah. So, so this is the call that we received. Okay. Is they said that the female, which based on the description would be you, was in the health and beauty section filling your pink bag, which is why we asked for the pink bag up with stuff. Okay. Um, we were told that the mail, which sir would be you obviously that you were also taking things. The caller even went as far as to follow you in a vehicle all the way over here, which is how we knew you were over here. On the scale, >> so on the scale of things that are crazy to deal with today, you are like here based on what we've dealt with today. But unfortunately, like we still have to take the time to do all these investigations no matter how silly this seems. We deal with so much nonsense that sometimes we come across as brute and we don't really mean to be. I promise. We just deal with stuff that's way more severe than shot with. And really, if we come off as rude, whatever, we apologize, right? But we still do have to do the full investigation of it cuz it is a crime. So, whatever. We will be out of y'all's hair as soon as we can be. But that that's not the only reason we're here. It's just cuz that that description matched y'all perfectly. And this this fella down here said that based on the clothing description that this was the room we needed to come to. Yeah, we can we can bar both of them, but I'm going to I'm what I'm trying to say is I'm I don't have enough probable cause to take her into custody, but I have enough probable cause to take him into custody. I'll take him into custody for shoplifting. Uh let's get them barred real quick. All I want you to say is, "Hey, you guys, both of you are barred from Dollar Tree for you can do up to two years." Okay. All right. So, you two listen. Okay. All right. Go ahead. your bar from Dollar Tree for two years. >> Okay, y'all understand? If you go back to Dollar Tree, you'll be arrested for criminal trespass. >> Okay, we clear on that. All right. All right. Thank you. But >> this dude down here, he was talking about the shades that somebody sold me that I knew that I could have >> told. Did you get a return for TV? >> Of course, I bought. But I didn't skip. >> Okay. say so. >> Okay. Yeah. I'm I'm not worried that >> I'm not worried about anything. >> I don't listen. >> I don't listen to those people. >> Michael, stand up. They start saying something. >> Put your hands behind your back. You're under arrest for shoplifting. Really? >> Mhm. You're under arrest. Turn around. We'll put you in a handcuff. Okay. Have you ever been arrested for shoplifting before? >> Huh? >> Yeah. How many times? >> Numerous time. >> Okay. >> Okay. All right, Tammy. Because I can't prove that you had anything. You're not going to jail tonight. But if I find out differently, I'm going to sign warrants on you. And if you go back there, you're going to go to jail. >> She won't go back there. Is there anything that you would like to take with you, sir, or leave here? Those are your options. We can bring stuff. We can leave stuff around. >> You good? >> You have anything, bud? >> All right. >> All right. I'll search you down in my car. Okay. >> Y'all have a better night. >> 94 Central. I need a criminal history on Michael. >> What you got in your hand, Michael? Just a lighter. >> Okay. Yeah. >> You got cigarettes in your pocket? Huh? >> No. >> Don't have any. >> No, you don't have any warrants, but you're going to jail for shoplifting. >> And so, this is what I was explaining up there is the uh the crime doesn't have to be completed. Just the attempt of said crime is still a crime. Okay. >> Hey, so what I want you to do is uh drop whatever that is in this hand for me. Now, just go ahead and drop this to right here. There you go. What is that, man? >> What were you trying? >> Are you kidding me, dude? What is it? You just dropped a pipe on the ground, man. And you just shattered the glass everywhere instead of just putting it in my hand. >> You asked me to drop everything. That's what you said, >> right? But then you started yanking away and acting all goofy about it and just broke it all over the ground. >> Oh, I do nothing like that. >> All right. Well, >> it's not going to be a crack there. Yeah. >> Okay. Well, >> that's enough to get you something else, too, if you want it. >> The hell, man. >> What you got holding your drawers up? Plastic bag. >> Are you cut, Clay? No. >> A plastic bag holding your drawers together. >> Is that because there in there? >> Huh? >> I didn't have No, I'm telling you. >> Man, we're going to have to get We're going to have to get real weird and real invasive out here if we're not dishonest with each other. >> I just told you, sir. This broke the truck. >> That's why I asked you what was in your hand. We were coming down the stairs, cuz I saw that pipe. >> All right. Now, listen to me. Look at me. We're not going to deceive me anymore. >> Okay, >> sir. >> You going to be a man about this? >> Sit down. You're going to sit down. You're going to slide your butt all the way to the other side. Okay. And you're going to sit in that seat. If there is anything else on you, would be wise to tell me now >> because if we take it to jail, >> I'm assuming you're going to go for felony shoplifting. >> Nothing on me. No pockets and no shoes. Well, if we bring something into the jail, you going to go you going to catch another charge. Okay. All right. Sit down. >> Scoot your butt back that way. There you go. Just like that. >> I picked up the majority of it. >> Yeah. They want to press charges against you. That's why you're in cuffs. Don't be laying down. Sit your back up straight, bud. >> If we get into an accident, I can't have you laying like that. Do me a solid. I'm doing you a solid by not charging you with related objects and uh destruction of evidence. So do me that solid, please. How many times you been arrested for shoplifting? Not many or >> Michael, how much time you facing. >> 20 years for what? >> Habitual for narcotics or DUI? Cotics. Are you on parole? >> No, sir. Probation. >> Probation. Come on. Let's get yourself out. >> We just search the back before we go in. Well, >> I don't have worry about nobody coming in. >> Do I need to search the back again? >> No, I'm just saying I just want to make sure I'm covering right now. >> Come on, let's go. Do you have anything else on you I need to worry about? >> No, sir. >> I just know you said what you said when I got in. >> Okay. Well, I searched you pretty thoroughly, so I'm fairly confident. [Music] >> You all right, man? You're not. >> Hey man, it ain't I mean sometimes the best thing you can do is just be nice to people, you know. >> Yeah. Small night. I mean, you're in a shitty predicament, but it is what it is. The suspect was booked for theft by shoplifting.
