2021 Gastonia Police Department officers Sierra Brooks and Maurice Taylor encountered rorer along Cox's Road in Gaston Mall Drive in response to a complaint about pan handling rorer accompanied by his service dog Sunshine found himself in a distressing situation that would greatly impact his life I just saw you take money from that car yeah you saw me take money but you didn't see me ask all right let me get your ID okay or you can't ask for my ID for giving me money okay get your dog okay yes I can it's called pan handling but it's not pan handling if I didn't ask for it is it ID you can give me your ID or you can go to jail for RDO which one you want to do what's the ID for though because I'm about to write you a citation for what for panhandling in many places panhandling is regulated or restricted through laws or ordinances that govern where and how individuals can ask for money or assistance in public areas that is why the cop is giving the veteran a hard time that's not panhandling yes it is no it's not if you come up to me and give me money you walked out to the car because they stopped did you see them stop give me your ID the situation give me your ID or you're going to jail controversial YouTube channel Blind Justice on February 6th 2024 during the Guilford County Board of Commissioners meeting allegations surfaced regarding an incident at the Guilford County he Department involving John Doe a blind War veteran according to accounts presented during the meeting a woman who only identified herself as Nina claimed that John Doe was attacked by security officers released by John Doe commissioner Hank Henning himself a veteran has expressed skepticism towards the claims of misconduct stating that he finds no merit in the allegations based on the information
