Look, sir. There's envelope. Look at your hands. Look right there. Cash. What is that? Cash you're putting in your pocket. You didn't take anything, though. That is cash that I put in my pocket. Did you forget about that somehow? You don't have to do all this. Like, you're hurting me. Keep your hands. Okay. I'm I'm trying to put them down if you would stop. Put them down. Stop reaching for stuff. OH MY GOD. WHAT CAN I REACH FOR? You're hurting me. Like that's why I'm saying if I'm going to jail, there's no point to explain all this cuz I'm going to go to jail with a migraine and aggravated as like they already got the video. Whether you're a store clerk working behind the counter or a UPS guy, sorting and delivering packages, stealing from the boss is a big no no. The employees in today's video thought they could play dumb and act innocent even after getting caught stealing. But I'm so disappointed in you. I have treated you like a human being and like you're a part of my family. Didn't you send me Didn't you write me a note telling me that I was the best boss you ever had? Yeah, but I ain't taking that. Tyrone operated an airsoft range and he devised a very dumb way to scam his employer. Instead of charging the players for shooting, instead he asked them to leave the money in a tip jar. In this way, he put thousands of dollars in his pocket at his employer's expense. But on the 30th of March, 2023, this guy's scheme came to a very abrupt end. I look like this. But you know that you're being recorded and then you still do this. The evidence is here. We have been here. You've been doing it since I Can we talk to you? Can we talk to you? Can we talk? Yeah. We got Come back on here. Have a seat. I'm going to read you your constitutional rights and then we're going to have a discussion. Okay. All right. First of all, right on the front, you got a right to remain silent and I answer any questions. Okay. You understand that? Yes. Okay. Any of your constitution right you want me to repeat? You good? I was cruise. Well, everything's on camera balls. I wouldn't be here. We have all the cameras. I wouldn't be here if uh we didn't have problem calls to be here. Okay. Pay attention to how Tyrone tried to wiggle his way and lie his way out of this thing. Even after telling the man multiple times about the video evidence against him, he still didn't confess and kept lying through his teeth. And there was no one more disappointed than his manager. Tyrone, I don't understand you. told you that you're being watched and listened to 24/7. You still did it. And you thought that you were clever. You weren't. But I'm so disappointed in you. I have treated you like a human being and like you're a part of my family. Didn't you send me Didn't you write me a note telling me that I was the best boss you ever had? Yeah, but I didn't take nothing. Tyrone, I didn't go in the safe. I didn't steal nothing. It's on video. You sure? It's me. No, it's you. You want me to show you one of the videos? Let me show you a video, honey. would be, "Why on earth would you scam the people who gave you a job and went on to treat you with nothing but respect?" Sadly, instead of just trying to make the best of things, Tyrone decided to bite the hand that feeds him. Like, oh, I My favorite one though was with the Spanish people that you had. Oh, I totally drill. I just still miss it. Listen, Tyrone, it's all taped. It's all on video. Tyrone. You're telling them to put the $40 in the tip jar, but then you didn't ring them up in the cash register. You pocketed the $40. That's not All right, Tyrone. Listen, it's all on tape, man. So So I got to pay it back. No. Tell me. Tell me. Tell me what happened. Give me the big Give me the big picture. Cuz I wasn't here. I got videotaped. I always Wait back. Wait a minute. I always believe in three sides of the story, right? That side, the other side, then the truth. So, this is your opportunity to tell me the truth or I just submit everything and they just see the video tape like I saw. So, what happened? The officer knows already that he's got a very tight case against Tyrone. But he also knows that nothing beats a confession. So, he tries his best to get one. With the video evidence against him, there's nothing Tyrone can do or say to get out of this. But if he's truthful and shows some remorse, maybe the judge will be a bit more lenient. No, I I didn't still sick is put in a tip draw. Okay, this I didn't go to cashier still. I didn't go to safety still. You just said right now what? I got to pay it back. You just said that. If I got to pay, I pay it back. Okay. Okay. So, what does that say? That but I didn't. Come on, man. We all grown here. Oh, man. And everything's on videotape. That That is so intelligence. No, I'm not. I'm saying by by telling us stuff like that. No one got to videotape. You just said what? I got to pay it back. If I got to pay I'm an honest. So if I got I appreciate that. I got to pay it back. Okay. I appreciate. So So that that's saying what you got to pay it back. If I didn't steal from like take it out though, you know. Well on camera, man. Here's your opportunity. Tyrone Tyrone. My check. Tyrone, here's your chance. Here's your chance because this is all recorded. Tyrone's rationale was that if he didn't take the money directly from the register or from a safe, it wasn't considered stealing. And since the money was in a tip jar, somehow that made it his. So So back back to you. You took the tip money and you see the dates. Tell me what happened, man. Help me write a a love story, not a tragedy. You seem like a nice guy. Let me help you. Help me help you. Judges like honesty. Yeah, I was. But I don't see how you're the only one here, man. It's on tape. I I'm trying to I'm trying to help you. Help me help you. You want to stick with that? Good luck. No, I'm not sticking to it. But I don't see how I took this much. Okay. So, what did you take? Um, what the tip money they gave me? That's it. But I didn't. Tyrone seemed lost for words. The evidence was staring him right in the face, but he struggled to come clean. It looked like the man was still desperately searching for a way out. This right here is true, but this right here. Okay, let's go back to the second then. You said that's true. What's true about that? Oh, I guess I was telling you guys just give me the tip and I'll let me shoot. But that's You're supposed to ring that up. Once the money go tip drive was mine. So I didn't put it in though. They didn't. Okay. But what about the charging you guys to shoot though? You didn't you didn't you didn't charge them. So they paid you though, but you didn't charge them. Okay. So you put the money in your pocket instead of putting in the register, right? Yeah. Okay. So, you don't think they're stealing? Tip is usually when they pay for the product and then they leave you a little extra something for your service, you know? That's what tipping is. Okay. Like I said, man, it's all on tape, man. I mean, if if they want to pay back, but I don't see Yeah, they want they want to be paid back. Yeah. Tyrone was still hoping that he could pay the $40 back and that would be the end of it. But as it turned out, he owed way more than that. And while his employers of course wanted to be paid back, they also wanted to make sure that it never happened again. They're saying you owe all of it. You owe. [snorts] It says 1140 time. So wait a minute. So So if you're doing it one day and they catch you and you say, "Okay, yeah, I did that $80." So they're using the same cameras in the same system in the same way. I know what you Yeah. So let me finish then. So why don't you think they would want the rest of their money? I know that doesn't make sense, right? No, but I know what you're saying. But like for me to steal, I didn't go with nothing. I didn't want to save or nothing, but I didn't feel it that was like stealing cuz they were put in the me. Okay. So since it was over $750, it's considered a felony. He was also an immigrant on a work visa. So, in addition, he also got himself deported. Tyrone was arrested and taken to jail, and he was later charged with felony grand theft. Maybe you've heard of a restaurant called Kiki. But this particular restaurant had a very big problem with one very deceitful employee. According to reports, he was caught on camera with his hand in the cookie jar, as they say. On December 27th, 2024, the cops went to Kiki's to have a chat with him. Hey, Mike. Put your hand back for me. Put your money back. Just relax. You're my girl. [snorts] Okay. Yes, sir. Place under arrest. I'll let you know in just a second. Okay. Okay. That's fair. You have your ID on you? You don't have your ID on you. Where do you live? I just told you that. I will explain that to you in a second. Come on back here. Let's have a Let's have a rest on the wall. The cops had no problem placing the suspect, Michael, in handcuffs as he was smart enough not to resist. However, when confronted, he wasn't smart enough to tell the truth. Like Tyrone, Michael was adamant that he didn't steal anything, and he put some serious effort into his act. What did I What the hell did I do? Do you have any weapons on you that I need to know about? I don't. Okay. And you are Michael Burrito. What's your middle name? What's going on? I don't understand. What's your middle name? What did I do? Jump in here. Do you have any weapons on you that that I need to know of? Okay, go ahead and have a seat. I'm going to leave the door open. Have a seat. I'm going to take this off. Why am I getting placed under arrest? I can't go to I can't go to jail. Well, you can absolutely go to jail. No, I know that. I'm just saying I can't like I All right. So, we can talk. I'm going to I'm going to read you some things real quick. That way we can have a conversation. Okay. Have you ever been read your constitutional Miranda rights before? Yes. Okay. So when I ask you a question, I need you to say yes or no. You understand that question. Okay. All right. All right. Oh, that's safe. Can I talk to some like I am going to read you something so you can talk to me. Okay. After Miranda Michael, the cops started with the basic questions about his work and his previous jobs. But in the middle of it all, Michael caught a glimpse of his boss and saw his opportunity to maybe change things around. You've not worked any any other K? [clears throat] No, I haven't. Okay. Andy, what do you need to talk to Andy about? Just I want to talk to him, bro. This has nothing to do with that boss. What would that have to do with him? I I mean, what's going on is what I'm trying to see what's happening. You're being investigated. It's a criminal investigation. I'm being crim criminally investigated. So, why am I in handcuffs then? Well, that's how we detain people. You understand that, right? Yeah, but I mean I I haven't done anything. So, I I'm like real confused right now. That's what we're here to figure out. I just got off of probation. 2 years for what? Not one violation. For what? What did you have probation for? Uh it was uh what was it? A burglary to a conveyance. Okay. Vehicle burglary. Yeah. So you've been identified as a person of well a person that stole from this establishment. What? Stole what? Do you want to tell me or no? I haven't stole anything from here. I mean, I take food home. That's about it. Okay. Michael pretended to be genuinely confused. This officer had been less experienced. He might have actually believed the suspect's lies. Luckily enough, there was video proof, and it left no room for doubt. Strangely, even after being told there was footage of him stealing, Michael still denied any wrongdoing. Cuz you know there are cameras all over this establishment. Yeah, I know. Okay. To include in this room. Yeah. Okay. So why would that camera have you accessing that safe and taking money out of it if you haven't stolen from this establishment? That is safe. Correct. I have never taken any money out of that safe. Why would the camera show that then? And why would people identify you as being the one that did it? Uh I'm not sure, but I I have never taken money out of that safe. When when did I take money out that safe? Yesterday. No, I did not. Okay. No, I did not, sir. Like can I talk to Andy about this, please? No, because that would be in tampering with a witness. How? But I'm not arrested. You said that I'm I'm criminally being criminally criminal investigations to include witnesses. Yes. There are two reasons why the suspect kept trying to talk to his boss, Andy. First off, it was part of his clueless and confused act. Second, Michael hoped that he could quietly persuade Andy not to press charges, but the cop quickly explained to him that that was not going to happen. For some reason, somehow, you have you on camera looking right up at that camera, going into that safe, removing the envelope, taking $427 of cash and putting in your pocket. Yes. I never took $427 of cash. Did you take anything? I took nothing. No, I I opened up that safe to look for uh some something else for my arm, like another type of medicine for my arm, cuz I have the medicine. Why would a medicine be in a safe? I didn't open up the safe. You just said you did. No, I opened up the cabinet to look for more medicine because that medicine cabinet is there and I have gotten band-aids from Pop, my other manager. He's given me band-aids before from that cabinet. Michael's cover story was that he was just getting a bandage from the cabinet where the safe was. He probably hoped the camera angle would conceal him from taking the money. And no matter how much the officer enticed Michael to start telling the truth, he just wouldn't budge. Your cooperation is key. I understand. I already have all the answers I need. Right. Okay. So, so, so, but truthfulness goes a long way. Can I please talk to Andy? I can't go to jail. I I have a son that I have to take care of. You have You can absolutely go to jail. I I not going to let you sit here and talk to somebody into not pressing charges against you. No, no, no. I wasn't going to I'm not going to do that. I just want to talk to him and see what's going on. I told you what's going on. I literally told you exactly what the allegations are against you. And your defense is I don't know what I'm talking about. What about my son though? Whose responsibility is that? That's my responsibility, right? And I did not take I You got me on video probably opening the the safe the the opening the cabinet. Yes, I probably opened the cabinet, but I did not take from the safe. I did not. At this point, Michael still hoping that the video evidence wouldn't be clear enough. However, all his hopes quickly disappeared when he was confronted with the actual footage. The footage showed without a shadow of a doubt that Michael did in fact take the money. All right, this is the only I'm not I'm not I'm telling you not to talk then. I didn't do anything then. Okay, he's going to play you the video. Okay, fine. To prove that it's true. Fine. I All right. All right. Look, I didn't take anything out that safe. Okay. This video is going to show you different. Here's the video. All right. You have to do this, Dan. I have a son I have to take care of. Dan out of my paycheck. That's you. Take my paycheck. Why would you want to take something out of your paycheck if it wasn't if nothing was taken? That's you, right? She's saying that I% you. Yeah, I'm on my phone, right? That's you. Just wait. What? Yesterday. You're watching the camera. Oh, open there. Yep. I'm looking. I'm looking. Take the envelope out. There's no envelope. Sir, there's no envelope. Look at your hands. Look right there. Cash. What is that? That is cash you're putting in your pocket. You didn't take anything, though. That is cash that I put in my pocket, right? Did you forget about that somehow? No. You understand? Now you've obstructed my investigation. You've lied to me. All right. I'm sorry. You have two felony charges now when all I wanted you to do I don't need two sir. Sir because this is BS. This is ridiculous. Confronted with evidence clear as day, Michael had no choice but to finally confess. But being a pathological liar, he didn't confess to taking all the money they said he took. Also, he justified his actions saying that he stole because he had a child to take care of. Problem was, he chose the wrong way of doing that. Now you got a felony. No, this All right, sir. Two felonies. Sir, please. Sir, please just listen to me. You had a chance. You know this game. No, I'm just listen to me. Listen to what I'm saying. Sir, listen. You can't go to jail. Yes, you can. Absolutely you can. Okay, fine. If you're going to take me to jail. I have no choice. These are felony charges. Who's pressing charges? This establishment. Why? You stole their money. You just stole their money. I If I could And you're an employee. That's a theft. All right. Well, I apologize. If I could just That has nothing to do with the talk. You had the ability to tell the truth and you lied. You still lied. I showed it to you on camera and you still want to say you didn't do it. All right. Listen. I'm sorry that I did that. My bad. I understand. You act like I'm stupid. Like Officer Darming stupid. Like your bosses are stupid. I think they're stupid. That's disrespectful, dude. So go ahead and stand up. Wait, hold on. Let me go ahead and stand up. Sir. Sir, please. I'm sorry, sir. This is crazy. Have you ever taken anything else? I never took $400 out of that safe though. It was 40 bucks. So it went from I never took anything to it was $40. Michael, you have a pathological liar mentality. Instead of owning up to his crimes, he kept denying taking $400. Whether it was $40 or $400, one thing was certain. Michael's days at Kiki came to a very abrupt end. He was taken to jail and charged with theft by an employee. When it comes to employees stealing from their bosses, it's usually a matter of seizing the opportunity without really thinking it through. Our next suspect, however, was different. She was a cashier at a family dollar store who clearly had a plan. Oh, you called me. What's going on? Good afternoon. How are you? We have a an employee that is being under ringing like she will charge a dollar and let the customer leave. It's about $150 of merchandise uh multiple time during the month of January multiple times actually a little bit in January multiple times in February and the last one was on Sunday. Um, I interview her. She's sitting in the back. Wrote a statement recording a statement. She admitted to what happened and uh, we just called you guys. Okay. You have any evidence of this video? I got I got full video and I got a recorded statement that I I can't use a recorded statement because she's not issued her rights. So, I can't use a recorded statement. So, the statement I I took it and I didn't have to read her. I Yeah, but I have to. While the suspect did have a plan, it doesn't necessarily mean it was a good one. She'd scan a cheap item, like a pack of gum, and let her accompllices walk out with a cart full of other goods. It was obvious she had to get caught sooner or later. But by the time that happened, she'd already scammed the store for about $5,000. This is Tina. Hello, Tina. This is the officer. How you doing? You have an ID on you? He's in my Where's your purse at? It's in front of Go get it. Okay. Okay. I'm pretty sure this Malia knows what it is. Um I'm going to talk to for a minute, but I I don't want you to stop calling everybody. I don't want people to start showing up here. And ain't nobody going to show up here, but I'm not just going to I can't get in contact with my fiance. I'm not just going to go to jail and nobody knows where I am. I'm not saying I don't know whether you going to convicted felon. I already dealt with police so many times. I'm not dumb. There's a reason y'all came. I'm not a student. Well, if someone makes a complaint, I have to come I have to respond and investigate. Okay? So, that's that's why I'm here. Do you understand? So, just give me a second. The store manager explained that the suspect, Tina, was in a tough situation financially. That's why she'd call her friends up to come and shop at the store. Tina would ask them [clears throat] for about $50 to $80 and in return let them take a whole bunch of goods. Before arresting Tina, the officer wanted to look at the surveillance footage. But this was one of the transactions. All those items. Uh how much u the transaction? Yeah, that's 100. But how much did the customer pay for? 59 cents. 59 cents. Over 100. Over 100 on that particular one. So what's the date? Uh the day over there is March 5th at 12:21. That will be Sunday. That will be the last transaction. This is the lady with the pajamas. [snorts] There's over $150 in here or more. And how much did you pay? 5950. The officer went through lots of footage of Tina under ringing items. After seeing the damning evidence, he then felt there was sufficient proof to make an arrest. But before doing so, there was one more question he had to ask. Biggest question. We all want to prosecute 100%. Yes. So, she say she's she's been going through some financial difficulties and that's what she say on the on the video. I mean on the recording and during my statement that she was doing it for her kids. For her kids. Okay. And she know she would let him go and then they would give her money. Yeah. I guess uh they they know her from the streets. Okay. So they know to come to from the area to come to directory and then they will give her the money like in a little piece of paper $50 to $80 a pop. The manager once again offered to show the officers Tina's statement. They couldn't use the statement anyway because it wasn't official and she wasn't read her Miranda rights prior to giving it. All right. So I guess they already talked to you. No, you turn around. I guess they already talked to you. Who's that? That's my people. I I need to know what's going on. Um I need to ask you a few questions. Are you under influence of alcohol right now? Huh? You smoking. What uh what's what is the highest level of your education of education? Eth grade. Um did you play any sports in school or softball? Softball. I'm required be I'm required to warn you before you make any statements. I'm required to warn you before you make any statements. You have the following constitutional rights. You have the right to remain [music] silent and not answer any questions. Do you understand that? The officer started to read Tina her rights, but she didn't really care for it. Her reasoning was that since she was going to jail anyway, there was no use in talking or answering any questions. However, the cop did his duty according to the law. And then with those rights in mind, are you choosing to speak with me? Um, the only thing I got to say is if I'm going to jail, I don't want to answer. Listen, I All right. So, what I'm trying to tell you is that if someone says something, I've I've known you for for I' I've come here, I talked to you, whatever. I don't know anything about you. All I say is, "Hi, how you doing?" I come to you. I I purchase whatever I need to purchase and I work that out. I don't know anything about you. someone say something, I need to know what happened. Okay? Cuz a lot of time people say, "Hey, did you talk to so and so?" "Yeah, she was nice. She told me what happened." You know, she was having some issue, whatever. So, I can present that to whoever I need to say to. But what I'm trying to say is that I can't just go by what someone say. I have to talk to you and get your side of the story. Okay. All right. Um, how long you been working here? I'll go over here. Sensing that Tina was getting defensive, the cop proceeded to ask her some basic questions like if she was married, how many kids she had, and so forth. Once the officer was able to build some rapport with her, he tried going back to the important stuff. Um, who's your Roger is your supervisor, right? Yep. Okay. Have do you have any issue with him? Okay. So, um, like with with the transaction, can you tell me like what's what's going on? like I my cuz I don't want anybody to come here and put a gun to your face and threaten you and whatever and and then we're going to have to go hunting and down and and and find out. Just make sure that didn't happen. Okay. I just that's why I need to get a status stone from you to make sure that you're not you safe that no one threatened you or anything. I I can't hear you. Nobody threatened me. Okay. All right. Can you tell me what's going on? I just said I rang people up when they gave me money and that was it. Okay. So you you charge them charge them less than what the value of the the the merchandise. Mhm. Huh. How much you normally get from them? This all depends 60 80 100 depends the person the I don't know it's just different prices. I don't know how to explain the same. Basically Tina confirmed to the officer what the manager had stated earlier. According to Tina it wasn't some elaborate or highly organized scam. It was just some people she knew who would come and take advantage of the opportunity. As he continued interrogating her, she began to get annoyed. Like, that's why I'm saying if I'm going to jail, there's no point to explain all this cuz I'm going to go to jail with a migraine and aggravated as like they already got the video. I already explained I was not I was getting money from people and I wasn't bringing everything up about who it is and where I know them from. All that is irrelevant. It's like I did what I did. It was a mistake. I know I was wrong. Like now what's the next step? Okay. How long this been going on? Since you started since like January. Since January. Do it the whole time. How much money you think you got total from these people? A couple hundred. I don't I don't know exactly like [music] No, what I'm saying from from January like maybe I don't think I don't know a thousand 2,000. Not that much. I mean just just a rough guess. Tina tried to downplay the total amount she'd stolen since January. However, she couldn't escape what was inevitably coming. She was taken to jail and charged with felony grand theft. She received 24 months of probation. On the 1st of April, 2024, the manager of a hotel called police because a female worker had been stealing from the business. Apparently, they confronted her about it once before, but it looks like she did not take that warning seriously. So, uh, she steal money Saturday. She stole money Saturday from where? Like, the cash door. I had the videos. You have videos from it? Okay. How much did she steal? $400. That is not the first time though. Is Do you have like video of the other time? The first time? Yes. And have you found police before that too? No. That one I talked to on her. Okay. And we give a second chance. This is a second chance. All righty. So, we'll go. You Where's the video now? on your phone. Okay. I had two different angles. She grabbed the money. Okay. She like, she grabbed the money. She never put it back. The video footage clearly showed that the manager was telling the truth. The weird thing was that the suspect had to know there were cameras around. Even worse, she'd already been caught stealing before. This time, she took a different approach. Um, and the uh and the customer, this is a $100 deposit. So they just have time to get to the I have to rewind the the computer. I had to rewind the video so that way they be able to look at what Okay. Do you have any ID on you? And you said you're the manager, correct? Did the register come up short evening? Yeah. The guest counter uh to get the $100 deposit, but it wasn't sure that she took deposit. So I had to rewind the whole video so that way we can give it the money to the guest. Okay. So she was supposed to charge that deposit. She didn't and then ended up taking the money. She didn't do that. What is her name? And I had so and I had another she what? Okay. So, we're going to go ahead and talk to her. Um, I mean, more than likely, we are going to arrest her for theft, but as far as her position here, what are you guys going to do with her terminator? Okay. Um, Rebecca Jill, right? Okay. This time, the suspect, Rebecca, didn't just take money out of the register. Instead, she took a customer's deposit, failed to do the transaction to the customer's card, and kept the money for herself. She was probably hoping that somehow it wouldn't be detected, but now she was about to learn just how wrong she was. Hello. Good. You are you or Miss Rebecca Jill? Can you come out so I can talk to you really quick? There's office. Okay. It's okay. We'll just step into the office instead. Thank you, ma'am. All right. Did she step out? Yeah, she did. Yeah. All righty. Well, Mr. Bea, my name is Officer Fernandez. Um, you have Officer Odin Officer F here as well. Do you know why we're here? Okay. So, um, I do we have video. We saw video that you allegedly stole $100 from the cash register in the front. Okay. So, I'm going to read you a few things and then we'll go from there. Okay. Usually, when suspects hear what they're being accused of, they immediately start protesting. But in this woman's case, other than a slightly worried look on her face, she didn't really react to the fact that she was being arrested. After reading the suspect her rights, the female officer proceeded to ask her about the stolen money. Do you understand each of these rights I have explained to you? Okay. Thank you. All right. So, I'm going to ask you one more time. Do you know why we're here? You said it because $100 of $100 that you allegedly stole from the cash register. No, we do. There is video footage to show that you did do this. All righty. So, what what reason do you have for stealing this $100? I didn't see it. He get He did the $100 on a card. Who did the $100 on what card? The guest. I can't remember his name. The guest. Yeah. Okay. So, there's no transaction that you did this $100 deposit for this person on this card. A room, whatever room it is. It just shows that you took money out of the register and you did not have permission to take that money. Yeah, there's a You understand? Yeah. Okay. Well, there's no deposit. The woman's defense was denial. She claimed she took the $100 and it was deposited to the customer's card. However, the evidence said otherwise. So, there was no way to come up with a good enough excuse that could get the woman out of this. All right. There's no transaction. There's nothing to show that that deposit was even made. Okay. All right. So, you are going to jail. Okay. You're being arrested for theft of $100 from the business. Okay. All right. Go ahead and turn around for me. Do you have anything sharp on you? Anything at all? Any on your person? Do you have any ID with you that you brought? It's in the front. Okay. Do you have a car on property? You stay on property? Okay. On the property? No. Is there something going on? You know, family issues stuff like that. We would like to put that report because of [snorts] the death. just back her out. Um, thanks for the female officer proceeded to pat the suspect down. Even though she didn't find anything on her person, incriminating evidence was found later in her backpack. But before we get to that, one of the officers had some sound advice for the soontobe jailed perpetrator. If there's anything you want to tell this officer before the judge, the state attorney read this stuff and say, "Hey, listen, you know, she said she did it, but you know, she she has two kids and whatever." just the reason, you know, just she's never been in trouble before, stuff like that. Then they could read that. Um, sometimes it's better to be like, you know what, she's sorry for what she did, stuff like that. She doesn't have a history of stealing thousand dollars and robbing a bank or nothing like that. You know what I mean? They're a little lenient. Um, sometimes they're not. Um, but if you want the state attorney to read that in her report for whatever reason why you did it and stuff like that, um, just let her know. Maybe when she takes you to the car, say, "Hey, listen. this is why I did it. You know, I've been living. I'm trying to get my life together and I had to pay, you know, my rent. It's not going to kick me out. Then I'm homeless, then I can't work and stuff like that. A judge and a state attorney will take those things into consideration. So, if you want to tell her anything, just let her know when she takes you to the car and then, you know, it is what it is. It's 100 bucks. It's a misdemeanor. It's no big deal. But sometimes a reason why you did it could go a long way. After that, it seems she took the officer's advice about telling the truth. Or maybe she just wanted to plan a cover story in advance before the cops found out on their own that she had paraphernalia in her backpack. There's also something in the back that I found that I was going to give to my manager and your Do you still want to give it to your manager? Yes, cuz I don't want to I have permission to buy. Yeah. What is it that you want to give to her? Millions, right? Nope. I'm sorry. I put it further in like in this one. Yeah. That's my wallet. ID. Okay. So, I'm gonna Yeah. Grab your ID. This one? Yeah. Okay. I found that in the bathroom. Yeah. Yep. All righty. And then I'm just going to grab your ID from your wallet. Okay. Yes. No. Oh, I don't want to drop your change. Right. It's a key right there. Right here. Okay. Um, would it be No, I can't. I can go there, but I think the rest would be better than safe people, right? Yeah. Is there anyone that's nearby or not? I know. Yeah. Um, the male officer warned the suspect that it wasn't too smart to put incriminating evidence with her belongings, but it didn't mean that he actually believed it was hers. Addiction could explain the woman's repeated attempts to steal from her employer. So, all of this I'm going to put it in safe keeping except for your phone and your ID. All right. Yeah. All right. I got to go to this big car over here. Oh, I'll grab it. No. What's in this bag here? Hey, how long you going to add it? Where's $100? You don't have it. Body wash. Body wash. I was back there. The suspect went along without resisting, and she even had a smile on her face. They charged the woman with possession of paraphernalia, and she was also charged with petty theft. She had to pay $1,000 in fines and was sentenced to 12 months of probation. A group of UPS workers tried to get away with stealing one item at a time. On November 30th, 2023, the cops were sent to their office to investigate after one of the suspects, Adam, felt so incredibly guilty that he just had to come clean. Before the officers talked to him, the manager explained what was going on. Okay. So, everything all of these items that are missing are in here. Three occurred over three days. Yep. If But these besides the ones besides Yeah. Besides these ones and these ones, you can't you're unable to determine when and where. Yeah. you know that they're missing and I I know it's their work area because they like to hide everything in the bathroom. That's the end of their work area. That's where these are found. But again, I can't just just the boxes. Yes. I can't prove 100%. So, somebody somebody else is taking these ones out. And I'm guessing it's the same group. They've admitted they've been doing this for about a few weeks, over a month, they admitted. I think it was Reggie who admitted that. And they basically the admission is that Satchel is the girl's name who came up talked to Reggie and Andre said about he admitted this state summary a psychopath but he's so he basically Satchel Reggie and Andre both admitted that Satchel came up and basically influenced them saying hey we should all get a little bit of thefting going on whatever Andre has been the one kind of collecting things in the Reggie's been storing it and they've been distributing it amongst these other street and s and they leave they live together. Right now the officers had Adam and two other accompllices Reggie and Andre in custody. The manager informed them that Adam and Reggie would likely be willing to cooperate. Once they got both of their statements, the other would probably follow suit. At that particular time, Adam was waiting already in the next room. You're Adam? Yes, sir. Officer Smith with the police department. You got your ID with you, my dude? Okay. So So walk me through what what's gone on over the last like 30 days? The last 30 days with just doing property. Yeah. Okay. So um about obviously a month ago we kind of like I I came from obviously after my shift and me Reggie and Andre you know what's called we met up and they said okay I have something for you and I'm like okay and then um he gave it to me I put my backpack and he left. I did notice stealing and stolen. I didn't say anything. I have obviously talked to them about how I do want to make things right. Sure, I have stolen things and I do know I was wrong and I'm willing obviously to return it or repay. Adam said he was sorry about the theft and he seemed pretty honest about it. He openly talked about stealing stuff along with Reggie and Andre, but supposedly this mysterious woman's satchel was who got them to do it. Adam claimed that after a few weeks he decided to stop stealing and it seemed like the others stopped as well. But I do obviously apologize for, you know, what we did. I mean, I do know it was wrong. I'm I was being an idiot. I was 100% being an idiot. Mhm. And I think we all were and I mean I think we just shouldn't have done it. And and I do want to make things right. That's pretty much it. Do you remember any of the items that you took? Yes, sir. I do. I did write it down on the statement form you want to take now. Uh I forget the statement but yeah what do you remember what what items? I don't remember all everything but I do remember AirPod Maxis which I do have possession of. Okay. I remember um a game deck, a Steam thing. It's like a controller thing. I don't know if you know what that is. Um I believe and two tablets and Apple Watch. I believe that's all I have. iPad tablets or um iPad tablets? Okay. And then an Apple Watch. Yes, sir. Beyond that, Adam couldn't remember anything else. He could have been lying, but unlike most suspects, he actually took full responsibility for his actions, which is already a big step in the right direction. Obviously, I know what was going on. I was oblivious like, "Oh, can you put this in my backpack?" Yeah. So, you kind of you kind of knew you kind of suspected that it was I definitely know what I was doing and I definitely took part of it and I acknowledged that it was wrong, but I at the same time it was just like okay like I I because we had already taken it. So, it's like I mean I'm not going to have like like might as well just you know give it to me so it looks it doesn't look so bad like you you have you know multiple things and I you know what I mean? like it just I I wanted to take a fall as well if we were to get in trouble and that was my decision. It was stupid and I wanted to stop but at this point it's too late. I mean I I acknowledge I was wrong. Fair enough. I appreciate you you being honest and not trying to to [ __ ] me or or do anything else like that. You know it's like by that time it was the the hard part is is [music] that there's there's cameras everywhere. Yeah. The officer explained that there were scanners and cameras and that the company had insight into what they had in their bags every time they went inside or outside the establishment. So, with or without confessions, the evidence here was undeniable. Now, let's see if Andre was as forthcoming as his friend Adam. How we doing? Pretty good. How about you? Good. You're Andre? Yes, sir. How are you tonight? I'm officer Chris Smith with the Salt Lake City Police Department. Okay. So, uh, first thing, do you have your ID with you? Uh, yes. And so, Satchel is kind of the point person for all of this and coming up to Reggie. Reggie seemed off and was like, "Hey, I need, you know, help me out here. Take these." You took those? Yeah. Okay. Did you take anything else with you? Uh, besides the um the shoes. Took the shoes. What did you do with your other shoes? wasn't brought in to work. Huh? Oh. Oh, those shoes. Yeah. Oh. Uh, I can't even lie. Uh, I I threw those away. Just pitched them and said, "I'm out." So, you took the new shoes and threw the old ones away. Uh, yeah. Cuz the ones I had Well, I mean, if you would have looked they were pretty rough. Yeah, they they looked a little rough. Like, talking out this is kind of rough. So Andre mentioned that he was homeless before, but recently he's been living with Reggie, who was the third person involved. They also questioned Reggie, and he also confessed to stealing the stuff. It was one of the rare cases where multiple suspects cooperated with law enforcement without any unnecessary drama. Hey, Reggie. All right, my man. So, here's what's going on tonight. It's okay. After sorting through all of this, um, unfortunately, you are going to be going to jail tonight. Okay. Just based off the dollar amount, it turns it into felony level theft. Okay. Um, no, like we talked about, I know you have some of the items still still in your possession. Yes. I'm going to give you Steve's contact information. Okay. First time being in trouble. Yeah. Yeah. So, what what typically happens is first- time offenders, they get booked and they get released on what's called pre-trial services. You got to essentially you got to call in. There are people that help you keep up with your court date and make sure that you're following through on your commitments. Um, after after that occurs, reach out to Steve, say, "Hey, look about that. I'm bringing this stuff back." And the reason that I'm telling you, so State of Utah, any sort of theft, they can charge you up to three times the dollar amount for restitution. So, contrary to what many criminals claim about cops abusing their power, these officers acted professionally. They appreciated how forthcoming the suspects were and treated all of them with respect and courtesy. Even the employer had kind words for the suspects despite the fact that they'd stolen from the business. Reggie, I'll go with my officers here. Appreciate what you done. Sorry I had to end this way, man. I hear that. Um, but good luck. All right. All right. Thanks, Grand. Yep. We'll grab your bag. Yeah, I do apologize. The smaller the wrist, the tighter they get. Yes. Little embarrassment. Unfortunately, it's a big It's a big building. Yes, I'm coming out. [laughter] How come we got two phones? So I always always one girlfriend the other girlfriend just [laughter] polygamy. Hey, come on down. [laughter] No smile on board's face. Uh, Reggie, I like you, man. Despite the officer liking Reggie, he was the only one who got arrested that day because the amount he'd stolen was a felony. As far as Adam and Andre, the company wasn't sure how much they'd stolen, so they were both released and were only charged with misdemeanors. It's crazy to think people would risk their freedom just for some change. Our next suspect risk going to jail for a $100 bill. This time there was no scheme or any elaborate plot. She just went ahead and took the money from the register. Here's what happened on July 6th, 2022 when the cops were called to her workplace. $100 or $22 taken out of the register and then $100 put in her pocket and then she put the $102 back for that drop. Right. Okay. And then um that's all I need for that. And then if she does come back, I like I said, I was just going to go over the street, right? Start start working on the report. And then if she comes back, just give us a call and say she's here. Have an officer send out because they're going to send two of us for that. And then it could be 91. You could you I'd say you could you could always just call 911 as you just say, "Hey, that employee's back." If you can send the officer or uh send someone else. And I'm going to let dispatch know my dispatch know that y'all are going to call back in if she comes in to work. And then if she doesn't come in, I'd say like 30 minutes or an hour or so, give us a call. I can go sign warrants on her and then we could go to her house and try to find her, too. So, the plan is I'm going to go ahead and do the report and then I will go sign warrants regardless. If she ends up showing up today, she'll go to jail. If not, she'll have warrants on her to go to jail. The suspect was supposed to come to work any minute in case she didn't show up, they'd issue a warrant for the woman and they'd arrest her later. But first, the officer had to collect the footage. And since his body cam was already on, he decided to put it to good use. But I can actually I can do it on my my camera here. So if you want to back up. Sorry about that. And I can actually get it on this I believe. Just let me know when you're ready. You're ready. Oh, sorry. Oh, you're fine. So that's when she takes $200 bills. $200 bills and a $2 bill. Okay. So they're in the same far left drawer. Mhm. Okay. And then she What What is that that she puts under it? Is that the $100 bill? Yeah. So, there's 100 100 and then $2 bill on top. And then she is holding it up. What did she hide behind the phone? Then I don't know if you don't mind backing up there cuz I looks like it was three bills that she had and then one was behind her phone. But y'all are $100 short. Said I see what you're saying. Yeah, we're actually $13 short. So she put a $100 bill behind her phone is what it looks like cuz I think it's that top one here. Yeah. Well, it looked like she was just putting it over there. I don't know why, but just put it looked like Oh, no. Okay. It looked like she put it behind her phone, but she didn't. Either the employee didn't realize that there was a camera right over her head filming every move she made, or she just didn't care. Just as the officer was filming her crime, the suspect walked in the store and quietly went to work. There she is. Okay. 67. The suspect's on scene if the other one close by. Miss done. Can you put your phone down for a second for me? Okay. So, uh, you stole yesterday $100 bill. I did not. And they want to report it. So, right now you are being arrested for that. You did able to at the jail. I did not. The suspect, Aaria Dunn, did not resist arrest, but she maintained her innocence as expected. People rarely want to confess. But before the officers confronted the woman with very clear evidence of her wrongdoings, they escorted her out. And it looked like the proverbial walk of shame. Hey, I'm being arrested. Okay. Is that all the stuff you need? Is it just this bag? Okay. And this your keys? This all your stuff? This is this yours or this? No, that's mine. Okay. All right. I'm going to get this. No, not right now. I grab back if y'all want to come out and let her know she's part. [snorts] Take a seat right there for me. Just one second. I'll talk to you in just a second. Since the arrest went without issues, the officer canled the backup he had asked for. He then proceeded to mirandize the woman. After the formalities were done, he asked her some questions and informed his area that she's being barred from the establishment. Knowing and understanding your rights since I've explained them, are you willing to answer any questions without an attorney present? You don't want to. Gotcha. I got I was just a yes or no. They have it on video in there. So, okay. Right back. Okay. Um I was going to see if she'll talk to me about it cuz she's saying she didn't do it and then I told her she's on video and she said that she didn't want to talk to me. Um do you want to fire her? I guess cuz this has happened before and people aren't told they're fired so they come back to work after they're barred. So just you have to let her know that she is fired and then however long you'all want to bar. The officer explained that usually suspects are barred for two years, but sometimes it's as short as a couple of weeks. The manager decided to do the long route. Obviously, she wanted nothing more to do with this thieving employee. Okay. If you have you ever bought anybody before? Okay. So, literally all you have to say is you're barred for two years. And that's literally it. So, if you want to let her know that she's fired as well, you say, "Hey, you're fired." Or, you know, whatever y'all say for that. And just at the end say you're barred for two years. Gotcha. It's a miss tell you something. So you are terminated and you will be our um done. Done. Got you. Thank you. Aeria done. Aeria done. Appreciate you coming out showing off your new bike. Oh yeah. I forgot about that. Well, does she So, they borrowed it for 2 years. I don't know what else y'all want to do. Do you want to give her a case number? I left it in there. The officer then asked his colleague to sit with the suspect a bit while he went back inside. But first, he searched the woman's belongings. And while he was doing that, he tried to explain the situation and what the suspect had done. Yeah. Last night at 9 uh 9:57, they have it on camera. They weren't able to um Oh, there you go. There it is. They weren't able to um they weren't able to save the photo of it or save the video. It's too big to send and my phone won't do it. I took a video of it on my my camera and they said they were going to try to get a disc, but they didn't know how to do it inside. Um she got off last night at 1:00 and then the receipt in there is at Crystal at 1:13. She used $100 cash. That's what I told him. I was like HR like I told him it was like district manager or something is know new. So uh apparently she might have a key but I don't see it. Okay. So cool. Appreciate you. Hey be careful. My wild hog. All it instructor sir. So see, it looked like this officer was a little bit jealous that his colleague got to ride a Harley on the job. And after a little friendly banner, he proceeded to take Aeria Dunn to jail where she belonged. On the 9th of August 2023, a nurse tried to cash in a fake check for $28,000. Her scam was quickly uncovered by staff and the cops were called in to resolve the matter. This is the moment the officer arrived on scene. Hello, miss. You mean help with them right now? Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Gotcha. Do you mind you have paperwork for him? Yeah. Ma'am, do you have your ID on you? Um, no. Um, that's the only one. I'm getting a um a new one. I'm waiting for the BMV to send me like a hard plastic copy. Okay. You mind if I see that? Yeah. Okay. Uh, possibly. We're going to take a look here. Okay. And what is the issue? We just want to make sure that this is a proper document. Okay. You got this from the DMV? Yes. Okay. All right. Give me just a moment. Okay. Okay. The nurse knew she'd be going to jail the moment the officers figured out her true identity. So, she provided a piece of paper with a name on it, but without a photo. The officer checked her name with the dispatcher and the results weren't good. All right. All right. Go ahead and turn off your trans back. Oh, can I I have to call I put this pocket. Just put it on the counter. Put it down. Okay. Have to call my kids to make sure who has my hand behind your back. Stop calling. Stop. I don't know what the issue is. We're going to figure that out here. Okay. Okay. So, I'm being put in in check. Just relax here. Cuffs. Yeah. Just relax. You're not even telling me what is going on. I don't understand. We'll get to that. The nurse didn't resist, but went on acting confused about what was going on. She repeatedly asked why she was being arrested and the officer quickly informed her that her driver's license was fake. I have never been in a situation like this. Like, I'm completely confused. Like, and you're not even telling me what's going on. Your license isn't coming back to you. It's not a not an Ohio driver's license. It's a fake one. How is it fake? Stop. Don't reach into anything. Stop. No, because that's a that's a violation of privacy. Oh my god. Yes, it is. No. Yes, it is. You just can't go through my Stop pulling on the puffs. They hurt. You're under arrest. They hurt. Stop. You don't have to do all this. LIKE, YOU'RE HURTING ME. Keep your hands. Okay. I'm I'm trying to put them down. If you would stop. Put them down. Stop reaching for stuff. Oh my god. WHAT CAN I reach for? You're hurting me. pockets. I don't have nothing in my pockets. Stop. Okay. Can you please let go of me? I'm not going TO GO NOWHERE, Y'ALL. AND I'M I'M one person. Please do not touch my As the gravity of the situation slowly set in, the suspect got more aggravated. The handcuffs were uncomfortable for her and supposedly the officer was touching her inappropriately. It seemed like a lot of things were bothering her, but in reality, the only thing that really hurt was her pride. I'm just doing it for officer safety here. It's the back of my hand. All right. Stop. Please let go of me. No. We're going to the car. Come on. Please let go of me. No. Please let go of me. You're hurting me, bro. Walk. Okay. I I am. Can you please let go? No. You are hurting me. You are hurting me. Help. You're hurting me because the c the cuffs are putting on my wrist. They're hurting me. We're not let Okay. Hey, but they don't have to be this tight. I'm one little person. There's three of you. Please let go of me. No. Please let go of me. The woman kept telling the officers to let her go as if that would somehow change her situation. The fact of the matter was she'd made a huge mistake and now she doesn't want to face the consequences. She failed to realize that ranting about things doesn't make much of a difference if you committed a crime. I don't care. You're hurting me. buckle you in so you don't get hurt. I don't want to get hurt. I'm in bed. It's the state law to have you buckle down. Can you at least move? Go ahead and turn the car on. Turn the camera on. Nope. They're properly spaced. No, they're not. They're not. They hurt. They are tight. How are you going to tell me? They're on me. They're not on you. You want to go ahead and read her her rights and let her know what's going on? See if she wants to answer any questions? Yeah. Give me a second. I'm sorry. I'm thinking of rand make sure I got it right. Here's who she actually is. The officer quickly found the suspect's real ID, confirming she was pretending to be someone else. And when his colleague remembered about the Miranda rights, he decided to inform the woman she had them. Safe to say, though, she did not make it easy for him. I need to call for my kids. All right, we can take care of that later. Okay. Okay. How? What's the So, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court. Okay. I have one question. Am I allowed to bond? You have the right to an attorney if you cannot afford one. Am I allowed to bond, though? We'll get all this stuff figured out. Um, do you have any questions right now? Just I need to make a couple phone calls. We'll get that figured out later. Okay. What's later? I have to get a hold of my kids so they know what's going on. We have to get the jail in process. Yeah, you'll get a call later. What's later though is what I'm asking. I'm worried I have to call my fiance. Do you want to answer any questions about what's going on here today? No, I don't. I'd rather be quiet because you guys are But yes, you said somebody was able to um I do have one question. and when am I going to be able to get my belongings? Excuse me. As there were no cops around she could argue with. All this entitled nurse could do was talk through the window. The whole situation seemed bizarre because it seemed like she was talking to herself. Even stranger was how she seemed proud of the fact that she can remember her kids' names. The socials that are in there belong to me and my children. And you can look that up and you'll see that that's proof. Those socials are my children's and mine. Well, not even mine. Mine isn't in there, but my my children's. I have three children and I could tell you their names and their [music] birthdays. Those are theirs. They're all my children. So, everything in that wallet is mine and it's nothing else. And like I said, you can look it up and you can see for yourself. Everything in my purse and my wallet belongs to me. And they're all legit. Like I said, you can look them up and you can check. And the two IDs in there are both mine. They both have my ID, my names on them, and my address. One is a passport photo, and the other one is a regular BMV one. I went to the the Walgreens on Clark yesterday and got that done, the passport ID, and you can also look into that and see that that's the truth. The suspect was charged with forgery, theft, and identity fraud. When interviewed by detectives, the woman claimed that a man she met on Facebook promised her $2,000 for cashing the bogus check. It seems that on the internet, danger's lurking from every corner. That's why you need to subscribe to the Hidden Files so you won't get tricked like this suspect.
