You aren't getting touched. Stop. I'm not even doing anything. >> Don't even move. >> I'm not moving. >> I see you getting up. >> I swear to God, I can't move, bro. >> Finger's on the trigger. >> Don't worry about it, man. I'm not moving, man. >> You have the right to remain silent. Do you understand that, right? >> What are you getting arrested for? >> At the very minimum, theft. >> I will pay for it. I would pass that to go home with my daughter. At some point in our lives, almost all of us have been in a bind for money. Most of us, though, have figured things out without resorting to shoplifting. However, some people get so desperate that they convince themselves it's okay to steal. That's how they end up with an embarrassing moment when they're busted for shoplifting. What is your name? Because we're not we're done playing this nonsense because I will send you to Jane Doe to the county. You will sit there and rot until you tell Tom your name. Do you understand me? We're not doing this. >> On the 27th of October 2023 in Ohio, the cops got a call from a local gas station regarding a woman shoplifting. After patrolling the area for a while, they located the woman walking near the gas station. When they located the suspect, they quickly apprehended her. >> She's walking over towards Exchange Street. Hi. Might as well stop. Oh my goodness. Just stop. Stop. >> Cuz you took the food from the store. >> I just took some crackers. >> Yeah, I know. And you can't do that. >> Huh? >> You can't do that. >> Okay. Wait. Hold on. Hold on. >> Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. No. >> She touched my [ __ ] man. >> Stop. >> Stop. You breaking my hand. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Put your hands behind your back. Stop. You don't have no YOU AIN'T EVEN SET my right time, [ __ ] >> The woman claimed she'd only taken crackers from the store, but that wasn't going to get her off the hook. Before even making contact with her, the cop seemed exasperated. So, without a doubt, he was going to use any means possible to get her to comply. >> Don't do it. >> ON THE GROUND, >> THE GROUND. >> OKAY. OKAY. OKAY. >> STAY ON THE GROUND. GET ON YOUR STOMACH. >> OKAY. I'M SORRY. >> GET ON YOUR STOMACH NOW. >> ROLL OVER. >> OKAY. OKAY. OKAY. >> I WANT TO do it again. >> PLEASE. PLEASE. STOP. STOP. STOP. STOP. PLEASE STOP. >> TURN ON YOUR STOMACH. >> OKAY. >> TURN ON YOUR STOMACH. >> OKAY. SORRY. SORRY. SIR, PLEASE. I have lupus and I have A PACEMAKER. >> TURN OVER. >> I HAVE A PACEMAKER. >> TURN OVER NOW. >> OKAY. >> ON YOUR STOMACH. >> OKAY. >> On your stomach. Don't get up. >> I'm not running. I have a pace. >> You roll on your stomach then and listen. >> Okay. I'm sorry. >> 25. I'm sorry, sir. >> On your stomach, >> sir. Can I please? >> No. >> Listen, sir. >> Help me. >> Put your hand behind your back. Sir, >> put your hand behind your back. >> Under arrest for >> theft. >> I just She touched my in the bathroom. >> Okay. Well, we'll talk about that. >> Okay. Please, sir. Can we talk about it? >> 25. And I got I got him. >> Started with 32 supervisor. Female been tased. >> Ouch. Please. >> All right. Roll over. >> Please take that off. It hurts. >> Take what off? >> That thing is pulling me. >> Well, it's not connected to you anymore. >> Okay. Okay. >> Things escalated quickly, but since the officer was alone and she was resisting, the cop had every right to tase her. After getting the suspect up, she had a lot of excuses for why she'd chosen to steal. And she also claimed that the gas station employee had touched her inappropriately. >> Okay, listen. >> The lady I have a full You can use 862 uh court, >> sir. >> Walk down here. >> Ow. Is still something on me. >> Yeah, I know there is. It's called a probe. [screaming] >> Walk. All right. Well, again, let's spoon, sir. Can I >> Okay. You can't steal. I >> I wasn't stealing it. >> Did you pay for it? >> Sheing touched my sir. She went in the bathroom. I was in the bathroom. Sir, listen. >> Have a seat. >> Okay. Oh, he broke my nail. >> Okay. And you should have ran for me and you should have been grabbing on me. I asked you TO STOP. YOU DIDN'T want to. >> Okay. >> And I wanted to eat. Oh, so what you're saying is it's okay for you TO STEAL. >> NO, I have money to pay for it. >> Then why didn't you? >> CUZ SHE TOUCHED MY >> OKAY. AND THEN YOU COULD HAVE JUST DROPPED THE food then, couldn't you? You're a grown adult. >> I took the chance cuz I wanted to eat. >> Okay. >> She was full of excuses, but she wasn't making much sense. She claimed she had money to pay for the items, but chose not to simply because she was hungry. The officer had to identify her, but it was not going to be as easy as you'd expect. You have your ID in here? >> No, [screaming] >> sir. >> You don't have your ID? >> No, sir. >> Then what's your name? >> What's your name? >> Oh, Tyler. >> Huh? >> Tyler. Ow. [groaning] My finger. What's your SO? >> I don't have my SO. My mom still carries it. >> I don't carry that stuff, man. >> Okay. How old are you? >> I'm 25. >> You're 25? You want to know your own social security number? >> No, sir. I have dementia. >> Okay. >> Spell your first name. >> T Y L E R. >> What's your last name? Um, can you pull this off? Is it still >> When when the medics get here, they'll pull it off. >> It hurt. >> I know it does. >> What the is that? >> It's called a taser probe. >> Yeah. It don't feel good, DOES IT? >> NO. >> I KNOW. I'VE HAD IT DONE to me, too. >> Did you? >> Yeah. And you're not 25. That would only make you 23. >> Got dementia, sir. >> Do you have dementia or you just want to lie to me? I seriously got up and up in the memory loss. Okay. >> While it was suspicious that the woman didn't carry ID, nor did she know her social, the cops would have to work with what little information the suspect gave them. She claimed her name was Tyler, but she didn't provide a last name. Also, she didn't sound too certain about her age, which she blamed on her alleged dementia. >> So, the lady comes in the bathroom. I'm not done. I'm not even done shopping. Whole [ __ ] out. Pants on ground. She comes in there, my bag is in between my legs. She goes in between my legs and start grabbing the stuff. I said, "Lady, I'm not even done shopping. >> Food and half of this not even hers. All I got was some crackers and cookies from that." And the went in there and she has the right to walk in the bathroom with my cookies out to Oh my god. >> My boot between your legs. >> I had my bag because I was in the bathroom in the gas station. She comes in there and grabs me, man. >> And then what happened after that? >> I walked out cuz I'm I'm pissed. >> She got a bunch of >> I eat a lot. >> I don't care about you eating. I'm talking about these needles. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, buddy. >> Yeah. >> I I I I do shoot my medications. >> These are all for your medications. Yeah. >> For what? >> I got dimension. >> Yeah. >> Well, I meant my medication cuz I like to get there fast, you know. >> Looking at the contents of her bag, it was clear the suspect was up to no good. Inside it, there were needles, food crumbs, and what appeared to be used tampons. They also discovered a food stamp card, but it had a different name on it than she'd given the cops. >> What is your name? Because we're not we're done playing this nonsense because I will send you to Jane do to the county. You will sit there and rot until you tell them your name. You understand me? We're not doing this. You can be in and out real quick >> if you just give us your name and your information. If you want to play games, I will send their there's Jane Doe and you will rot all weekend. I guarantee you will start feeling the itch when you are in there. >> I don't want to go to jail. >> Okay, I know you don't want to go to jail. We're beyond that. You could not have gone to jail if you just would have stopped right there and let me put handcuffs on you. But you did not want to do that. All right. That's not how things are done. What is your name? >> This is where you talk. >> My name is Dar. >> There you go. >> What's your last name? >> You're close. >> What's your last name? >> Come to me. I got >> Come on. >> I'm trying to stay out of trouble. What are you doing? >> I know. I saw you got some needles there, too. You got a problem with drugs? >> No, I don't have a problem with drugs at all. >> I have a problem with people. >> The suspect finally revealed that her name was Darien. She said the needles in her bag were for prescribed anxiety medication, which had been stolen from her not too long ago. When they wrapped things up, they put her in the back of the squad car, then went back to the gas station to get a statement from the manager. >> I told her, "Come out bathroom. come out the bathroom. >> She wouldn't come out. I took the key. >> I I said, "Well, I'm going to come in if you don't come out." >> Yeah. >> And so I went in with my key >> and and then she she didn't have her pants down at first, right? >> And then she pulled them down and she like she said, "Get out." And then I started taking my stuff out of her bag. >> Yeah. >> You know what I'm saying? I'm like, cuz I know, you know, and then when And then she had a pen. Get out of here, weirdo. And then she proceeded to shove me and I kind of went back, you know, and it took everything in me. I'm major here so I can't like >> Yeah. >> You know, and I know they tell us not to confront them, but it's like >> I I get tired of it. >> She was taken to jail and charged with resisting arrest, obstructing official business, possession of drug instruments, shoplifting, and misrepresenting identity. In court, several charges were dropped and she was only charged with theft and obstructing official business. On the 6th of September 2024, police responded to a local Target where apparently a woman there was trying to steal a large amount of items. When they arrived on scene, they worked with loss prevention trying to catch the woman as she left the store. >> The uh she cart. Okay. >> Oh, she's carrying three full bags open. >> She's gonna go exit. Actually, she's going south set of doors. >> She's out in three, two, one. She should be out. She's in the building. >> Hey, police. How's it going? Put the bags down. >> I didn't do anything. >> Oh, brother. Put your bags down. This is everything I came in with. >> Put your bags. >> I did not do anything. >> I didn't do anything. >> Drop your bags, please. >> I didn't do >> That's the same cord. Okay, just put your bag. >> Why are you back off as well? >> You have to. >> That is [ __ ] >> Take your backpack off. >> That is [ __ ] >> Take your backpack off. You're going to go to handcuffs with your backpack on. So >> this is [ __ ] It is harassment. >> What do you want to do? >> Stop. I didn't even do anything. >> I'm going to go away. So, you have to >> Is this Is this you guys? >> No. So, the back she's sitting on is ours. But there is >> No, I came in with all this. >> I'm going to cut this backpack off. You >> notice how when the cops approached her, she got immediately defensive, though she had no idea why they were speaking to her. This defensive behavior was most likely a sign that she had in fact stolen the goods, but there was no need to prove it because Target had it all on camera. >> You aren't getting touched. STOP. I'M NOT [screaming] EVEN DOING ANYTHING. >> I AM NOT DOING ANYTHING. I AM NOT [screaming] DOING ANYTHING. >> PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE BACKGROUND. [screaming] THAT LAST UNIT SUPPOSED TO [screaming] PUT YOUR HANDS ON ME WITHOUT A FEMALE. You are breaking the law. [screaming] >> This is mine. [screaming] [screaming] >> STOP. >> [screaming] [screaming] [screaming] >> IN YOUR OTHER HAND, MA'AM. >> I wasn't even doing IF YOU WANT. WASN'T DOING ANYTHING. [screaming] >> Stop resisting. >> I wasn't. >> I was saving ALL MY STUFF. >> This woman was using every excuse in the book. She claimed to have come in with all the bags, but it didn't make sense because why would she carry two duffel bags and a backpack into a massive retail store? >> All right, I'll start taking stuff out and then you start letting me know what's going on. >> This is London. Let me put her in here. >> Yep. Yep. Uh my keys in >> Why are you going through everything? >> Okay. >> I don't think so. She had this water bottle when she came. >> There's a pink one as well. >> Oh, whichever one she had when she came in. I can tell you it's mine. That's the one she came in. I don't think so. That one. >> This all yours. >> Yeah. >> Husky. The husky stuff I think is probably Home Depot or something. >> Yeah, this is probably all Home Depot. >> Uh if it's not if it's not yours, I was going to put all your merchandise here for a photo. Um >> this is like all this is mine. This is the tag this year. >> Okay. Well, anything that's not yours, I'll take off. >> The cops continued their search, examining the multiple bags she walked out with. Mainly, there was food inside, but also tools. So, the cops were speculating that she'd also stolen from a local Home Depot. The entire time she was screaming in the background, saying she felt violated and saying the cops were taking her personal belongings. >> It's [ __ ] >> Do you have clothes on under? >> You're taking stuff that doesn't even work. They're going through all of the property to determine what you took. Yes, they are. I'm >> taking I just watched it. >> They're sorting through everything because there's stolen merchandise in the car. >> There's stolen merchandise in the bags. >> You exited with merchandise you didn't pay for. >> Not those bags. No. >> They're going to go through all of it. >> They're going to go through all of it. >> That's [ __ ] >> Knife. [screaming] God damn it. What's your last name, [crying] >> Stephanie? Do you have ID in one of those bags? >> No. >> Okay. What's your last name? >> Richard. >> Oh, god damn you. >> Richard or >> Richard? Stop. >> God damn you, Bobick. [laughter] >> You're under arrest for all the merchandise that you took not paying for it. >> No. >> Yes. [laughter] The stuff in the gray bag in the car in the car. Turn and face the front. [screaming] Face the front. >> Face the front. >> They identified the suspect as Stephanie Richard. Despite a growing pile of merchandise that was worth over $800, she denied stealing anything. And the entire time she kept screaming like a child. You're 40 years old [laughter] >> and you already know this is harassment. >> It's not harassment. >> Yes, it is. >> How is it harassment if you took THE PROPERTY THAT DIDN'T? >> STOP. Just stop. >> That's what I'm asking you to do. >> It is wrong. What do you EXPECT ME TO DO? >> STEAL. [laughter] >> STOP. [screaming] >> [laughter and gasps] >> You know, >> I have no idea why you're behaving like that. Just stop. This isn't right. It isn't. >> You're not a merchant agent. >> So, this isn't harassment. You brought this upon yourself. >> Yes, it is. >> No. When you steal, [clears throat] you bring the attention upon yourself. >> Yes, it is. >> How is it harassment? >> How is it harassment, Stephanie? >> Because you know how Oh, >> YOU KEEP SAYING THAT, BUT OBVIOUSLY I DON'T KNOW HOW it's harassment. >> You're trying to make me arrest. >> 40-year-old Stephanie Richard was arrested and charged with felony theft and resisting arrest. Hopefully, while she does her time in jail, she'll stop acting like a child, grow up a bit, and learn her lesson that she should never shoplift. On August 27th, 2020, the cops were dispatched to a shopping mall, specifically to a Champ shoe store. Captured on security footage, a man was seen swiping a pair of Jordan sneakers. When the cops showed up, they pursued the suspect on foot. >> STOP. GO PURSUIT. STOP. You're going to get tased. >> GET DOWN ON YOUR KNEES. NO. NO. [screaming] NO. >> Get flat. >> Get flat. I'll roll. I'm going to discharge this taser. >> Get on your knees. >> I'm on my knees, sir. 29. >> I got him. Taser point in the bathroom. In the back already. I do the I do the [ __ ] over there, man. >> You get up, you're gonna get zapped. >> I'm not getting up, bro. >> Please see those two things. That's where them probes going to go. >> I'm not trying to I can't breathe, man. Please. Please. I beg you, bro. Can you please let me go follow your shoes, please? While the suspect caught his breath, the officer kept him in place, telling the man that if he didn't comply, he was going to get that taser. While waiting for backup, the suspect plead with the officer to let him find the shoes, which was most likely an attempt to flee. However, the officer was not going to be distracted. >> Don't even move. >> I'm not moving. >> I see you getting up. >> I swear to God, I can't move, bro. >> Fingers on the trigger. >> Don't worry about it, man. I'm not moving, man. All right. Okay. I'm going to go hands. Lay down. >> Okay. >> Lay down. >> Off for some shoes, bro. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Put your hands behind your back. Don't move. 43. I'm on scene 29. >> Okay. Let me go, man. >> That's up to the other officer. You're under arrest. I got to go back to my >> on your side. >> No, I'm on mine, too. >> Anything on you? >> No. >> All right, pick your knee up over here so you can move. >> You got to help a lot. >> I got you. I will. >> Ready? Sit down. >> There you go. Here. >> Ready? One, two, three. There you go. After graciously helping the suspect to his feet, the cops escorted the man to a squad car. As they did so, they lamented the fact that it could have been just a ticket or summons, but this guy had to run, which made things a whole lot harder. >> People shop with a ticket and trespass. Now you're going to go to jail. >> Dang. >> A good idea. >> I can talk to him. All right, here we go. >> All right, man. What's your first name? >> It's easier if you tell me now. We're just going to have to fingerprint you. We'll figure out that way. What's your first name, man? >> No. >> You got a lawyer? I'm not asking about anything but your name, >> but I will I'll read you your rights. Put you under arrest. One >> second. Hang on. Are you You guys arrested me before you read my rights. >> Yeah, that's how it works. You don't get your red right. You don't get your rights read before you get placed under arrest. You get arrested first and then your rights get read. >> So, I don't know what you think this is, but >> then do that. >> Then do what? >> In there. >> You didn't arrest me and then read me my rights. >> Well, that we read your rights after if you're placing under arrest. You placed me under arrest in there and didn't read me my rights in there. >> Yeah, they didn't ask you any questions. >> Since the thief insisted, the officers mirandized him. The cops were correct though. They didn't have to read him his rights unless or until they started asking about the crime. As they were simply asking for his identity, which is mandatory information, they didn't have to mirandize him at all. >> Did I miss something? is right. I know that I've been taking that before >> and it literally would make me sick to my stomach. Like so sick to my stomach I'd be laying in bed going >> what you got? What you got? Okay, hang on. No, I'm starting to triple light. >> Is that a >> Wait, is that >> Yeah. >> Oh, dude. That is a That is a switch. >> Awesome. Yeah. Go ahead and take the magazine out. Clear. >> Oh, it's a 22. >> Hey, man. Just so you know, you're under arrest. We also found the gun. >> Just so you know, uh I know that you you've had your Miranda rights read to you, correct? >> I read it right. >> You did? >> Yeah. You didn't want to talk. >> Okay. So, just so you know, you are at this actually going to be a felony investigation now um due to that firearm. Do you understand? >> In some states, the possession or presence of a firearm when committing a misdemeanor can turn the offense into a felony. That's because the risk of harm during the crime is massively increased. Not only would it mean a higher fine, but a higher bond as well. >> Also, I'm going to let you know that this is a notice of trespass. You are not to come back to the mall. If you will, you will be subject to arrest. Okay. Okay. >> Can you just loudly go? >> What's up? Let me call my mom. >> Nope. >> I know you're in your mode right now and you just don't like me. >> Yo, >> my mom's old. >> Uh, no, man. You'll have a you'll have a chance to call someone from jail. You're you're gonna you you'll have the chance to call someone from jail, dude. >> I don't [snorts] honestly. You don't text. >> I understand that you want to call your grandma, but you should have thought of that before you did all this. >> My mom >> or sorry, your mom. >> I understand that you want to call your mom, but >> my mom. That's the thing. I need to let her know. >> Well, unfortunately, today you made a decision that doesn't doesn't allow you to take care of her. Yeah, but why why listen by yourself? >> By staying quiet during the questioning, essentially the suspect had waved his rights. What the man does next will prompt a serious conversation between the officers as they discuss whether or not they should treat him with the same behavior. >> Yeah. Hey, you you guys already had the shoes out of the bag, correct? >> What do you mean? >> You guys already had the shoes the item that you were looking for out of the bag, correct? >> Uh-huh. >> And then all of a sudden, you find a firearm. >> Oh, yeah. So, listen to this. So, uh, here's what happened. They found the bag with the shoes. >> Yo, >> I'm going like, did he say he's invoking or is he wanting to talk? >> He He's not saying, but he's wanting to know how we found the guy. >> Okay. >> If he's willing talk about what happened and all this stuff, yeah, that's cool. He's waving his rights, but just now he's pushing you. >> Yeah. You don't want to wave your legs. Yep. >> So, you've already you've already basically invoked because you didn't you didn't answer those questions earlier. So, I can't talk to you about what's going on today anymore. Okay. Just letting you know. >> What could have been a simple shoplifting charge turned into something a whole lot worse. He was already a convicted felon. And unfortunately, due to that particular accessory on his firearm, he could face up to 10 years in prison. On the 17th of November 2024 in Ohio, the cops were dispatched to a Family Dollar store. Allegedly, while trying to steal something, a woman threatened an employee with a gun. When the officers arrived, they found the suspect waiting for them in the store's parking lot. >> When I gave it back to him, I was still there, but I gave it back to him. Why you arresting me? >> Stop. >> Turn around. >> I don't have nothing. >> I don't have anything. >> Turn around. >> I don't got nothing. >> Turn around. >> I don't have nothing. You grabbing me. >> Turn around. >> Okay, but I don't got nothing. But why are you grabbing me? I don't have nothing. >> Turn around and you'll be charged for this. >> I don't have nothing. You just grabbing me. >> You got it back. I never took nothing out the store. >> I never took nothing out the store. I'm not doing nothing but y'all grabbing me. >> I didn't even do nothing. You just grabbing me. >> Wake up. >> You just was grabbing me for nothing. I'm under a BRUSH FOR NOTHING. I DON'T GOT NOTHING IN MY PURSE. I DIDN'T TAKE anything or nothing. He kept trying to run up on me. >> We can still place you in here. >> I know. BECAUSE THE WAY Y'ALL WAS GRABBING ME, I'M LIKE, "DAD, can you pull my up?" >> You You have to understand we stepped out. >> Okay, babe. You ain't got to tell him nothing. >> You immediately said I was stealing. >> I know, but I Okay, but I gave it back to him. You feel me? >> How do we know that? >> I swear he took it. I swear it was nothing but soap powder. >> So, we should just let you go after you come across. >> I didn't do nothing. And I don't want I just want to take your word that you undid the car. >> Yeah, I listen how it works. >> Can I tell y'all this? I had soap powder. He called me with the salt powder. I gave it back to him. >> As far as the stolen goods went, they were unaware if she still had them. And according to the employee, the woman had a gun and she had threatened to use it. For everyone's safety, she had to be detained as soon as possible, and the cops had to make sure of it. >> Okay. >> Oh, look at that. There's still pods in your purse. >> It's only two of them. I told you I gave them back to >> Can you spread your feet now? >> Doesn't matter what it is. >> But I never walked out the store. >> You're right here with the purse. We didn't pull you out of the store. You're right here with the purse. What are you talking about? >> So is I'm going to let you. >> Yes, that's that. >> It doesn't matter the amount. >> I'm just asking. >> I want to I need I know I need one. I don't want to go. >> You can talk after face the cruise. >> Can you face the cruiser? You know, I do got a daughter I know was wrong for that. And I'm not trying to give y'all no. >> You know, >> so far you've been very uncooperative. Can you face the cruiser? >> Because I ain't been in jail in a long time, >> but that's that's why. >> Face the cruisers. Cooperate with us and we'll see what we're going to do. >> Thank you. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Sorry. I was about to You just pulled up so easier. She was extremely uncooperative and kept trying to communicate with the people that she'd come to the store with. Even though she'd stolen and had a warrant out for her arrest, you couldn't convince her that she was going to jail. Next, the cops spoke to an employee about what had happened. >> So, what are you guys wanting to have done? >> Uh, I want her banned from the property. >> You don't want her prosecuted? Nothing. >> Um, we got everything back. I mean, but the biggest thing, the reason I called started calling you guys was cuz she said she's had a gun. She said that she was going to put it to her head, shoot her in the face. Like I mean she started going off on us in here so I was like no I ain't dealing with this. >> And she said that when you guys tried to stop her from stealing. >> Yeah she said that back there when she was still in the store. >> Okay. You guys don't want her prosecuted. stuff up and they go to tell her to get out. She's like, "I got a gun. I'm going to put it to your head." And then she takes merchandise and walks out the store. They got some of it back. There's still pods in her purse. >> She had both of in her purse. >> Yeah. >> She dumped the one out and I caught her in the process trying to open the second one. >> While the officer spoke to the employee, she was begging for mercy, saying she had a daughter and didn't have anyone else to take care of her. The female officer advised her to calm down a bit and take it one step at a time, but the officer clearly knew that she was headed to the jail house. >> You have the right to remain silent. Do you understand that, right? >> We don't need arrest for it. >> At the very minimum, theft. >> I'mma pay for it. I'm going >> past that thing in my pocket to go home with my daughter. I'm sorry. I don't want to. >> Okay. I'm going to read this to you. So, I'm going to ask some questions for you. Okay. We're going to have a conversation. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, what happened today? >> Nothing. I don't know what I was thinking. I Something was already winning. I went in there and grabbed some t ties, some some soap powder. I didn't know he was going to see me. I ain't going to lie. I didn't know he was going to see me. And when he seen me, he said, "Can I have my ties back?" I said, "Yeah, you can have your ties back cuz I got money in me." And I that's when I walked out the I gave him the stuff and that's when I just he said, "Get out my store." And that was it. >> Okay. You didn't say anything else to me. You gave him their property back. I just he was trying to put he was trying to grab me and touch me. I'm like officer. I'm like I don't want to I'm like I told him I'm like I don't want to be in touch. I'm like I give you your stuff. Let me just walk out. He said okay you give me my stuff and you can leave. And that's when I um that's when I left. >> Unsurprisingly the female suspect's story did not match up with the employees. The cops knew it would take some prying to get the real story out of the woman, but they weren't going to stop till she was given the punishment she deserved. >> You didn't threaten them with a gun or say you had a gun or that you were I ain't threaten him with nothing. >> I'm telling you the honest truth. I know I should never took no ties. I know I should have paid for him. He asked for them back and I gave them to him. I got a whole daughter that's waiting for me right now. I ain't about to threaten him with no damn >> So why are you out here? If you got money, why you out here stealing time? >> Because I thought I was I should never been doing that. >> I shouldn't. I ain't got no gun. I ain't about to do that. I ain't been in trouble in a long time. I know it was done for me even want to steal them goddamn P them ties whatever they is and I got money. >> I ain't about to do that. I ain't about to risk my life for trying to shoot a man for some damn and that's the truth. I'm not as I ever did that. Just want to go home to my daughter. >> Who was the other person you were with? >> No, that was my sister. I told her to go get my mom. >> Where's mom stay at? >> She stay up here on Simple Press. >> Is that where daughter's at? Where's daughter at? >> With my auntie. They at the competition. Riley. Yeah. >> So, you understand your rights? >> Yeah. >> When we're looking through your purse, in that What's in that dollar bill? >> What dollar bill? >> Folded up in your wallet. >> Ain't nothing in there. >> There looks like there's some like white powder residue. >> Uh-uh. Ain't nothing ain't nothing in there. >> And then there's a there's a cut straw in your >> Oh, ain't nothing. >> Uh-uh. Ain't nothing in there that I know of. Ain't nothing in there. You're not using drugs. >> No, >> I'm not. I'm just saying what I'm seeing. >> Oh, no. Ain't nothing in there. >> The cops took their time checking her warrants out and also reviewing the security footage from the Family Dollar store. The footage confirmed the employees story, showing her yelling at the employee and dumping the laundry soap into her purse. And about that straw and white powder, she said it was a special type. But the cop didn't believe it. >> Where's your daughter at right now? >> Where my auntie? >> Where's auntie at? Auntie Can auntie take daughter for the night? >> No, she won't. >> Then I mean if she then there's another option we can take trying to save you from that. Where can daughter go tonight? >> She ain't got nobody with me. She know my daughter. >> Can she can she go to with your aunt? That's going to be >> No, they just they had competition. She was only watching her cuz she went to competition with her. >> So who who can take >> Nobody. You know you know my daughter. You didn't know your mom or anything? >> I don't have nobody. I only got You know, you said you know my daughter personally. I didn't know you that you knew her. [snorts] >> I would do anything to not go to jail. I just want to go home to my daughter. >> Should have been thinking about that before you went and [snorts] decided >> like I apologize. I'm sorry. Y'all can tow the car or whatever. Just [snorts] I could go home to my daughter. That's it. >> She continued to plead with them, but the cops weren't having it. They arrested the woman and she was later charged with theft and aggravated menacing. On the 8th of March 2022 in Lacrosse, Wisconsin, the cops responded to a QuickRip convenience store after reports of retail theft. They identified the suspect as 37year-old Edward Bobnar and apparently he was eating their product in the bathroom and not paying for it. When he realized he was caught and the store's lost prevention was on to him, he decided to go behind the service counter and grab cigarettes and a lighter before leaving the store. It wasn't too long after he left that the cops found him. >> So to pack cigarettes, well, >> huh? >> They was stealing. She was yelling at that. What's going on? >> The lady grabbed me. She she started saving from me. She was yelling at me. Where's the cigarettes that you took? >> And what else did you take? >> Everything's still in the bathroom stall. I tell her that. >> What's your last name again? >> Might be right here. >> I was like, "Sure, grab my for me." >> Well, we're going to get this figured out. But you can't just take off. You can't Where the cigarettes took? >> Yeah. Everything's in the bathroom stall. When I was in there, I went in the bathroom and she's like, "Bathroom check." Yeah, I'm in here. Everything's in here. Like, you want to slide on a door? I shouldn't touch it until I wash my hands. >> Why'd you leave everything in the bathroom? This is yellow coming in. I got to finish taking. >> So why do you have food all over the side of your face? >> They're fine for now. >> Grab it obviously like that. >> Okay. Well, they'll have video and stuff. Is there anything else that you took? >> Oh, everything's in the bathroom stall. Literally like I got so bad out like I didn't want to leave and stuff like that because everything in the bathroom. She kept following me and like I like it's in the bathroom stall. You know what I'm saying? Okay, looks like they got food and stuff on the side of her face. So, that seems to work. >> After the cops ran his info, they discovered he was out on bond. Actually, two bonds in fact. And as far as the quick trip went, he already had a no contact order. Soon after, another officer arrived and started questioning Edward. >> Mr. Bobner, what's the reason for your thefts today? >> I was going to pay for it until she started grabbing this by hand. >> But you went in the bathroom and already ate it. I do. >> Yeah. >> What? >> Multiple things on the uh [snorts] And how common is it for somebody to go behind the cash register and grab cigarettes and a lighter? >> I wasn't going to, but then I got mad. >> Well, that was all. Okay. There's no reason to get mad at her for stealing yourself. >> I was like, she was yelling at me and she's like, "Where's the stuff at?" And then like she grabbed my stuff >> and like I don't I don't want harass. Well, there's no harassment when you're stealing from the property. >> Somebody I didn't leave the store with that. When somebody >> Are you supposed to be in there? >> When somebody grabs you like I I just feel that way, you know. >> Okay. Well, I'll take a look at the video. >> But you're also on bond not to be on their properties. >> Not this one. >> All of them. I know that. >> Yes. All of them. >> So, you're going to be taken into custody. I need you to put your cigarette out. Go ahead and stand up for me, please. >> I should just stay sitting down. >> We'll just put the handcuffs down. Copy 272. >> Stand up. >> That knock it off. >> Typically, when a store decides to ban someone, whether for theft or any other reason, it includes all locations, no matter how many they have. So whether he realized it or not, the man should have known better than to go back to the store. >> Go ahead and stand up for us. >> Stop it. >> You're going to stop resisting. >> Okay, that's only going to make the matters worse for you. >> Don't add more charges. >> He's above me. Ed, stop. Ed, >> what are you trying to do? [ __ ] >> Stop resisting. >> 50. We'll take another car. Ouch. >> Stop. >> We'll take another car, please. >> Break on my brake. >> Then stop. >> [ __ ] >> Then relax. >> Put on my bridge. During the search, the suspect became extremely non-compliant. The cops didn't suspect it as he was calm and collected during the start of the investigation. And while leaned against the car, he even went so far as to kick the female officer in the chest. >> That was my face, dude. >> Now you can be charged with a felony. >> I didn't do anything. >> You just kicked me in the face. I did it. That's a ter my [ __ ] foot down. I can't put my feet in the air. That's unnatural. >> My foot is in the air. >> Why not? >> He's handcuffed. >> He is handcuffed. >> Okay. >> I got his pocket. Let's go. My right ankle. Watch what happens. >> Nothing in these pockets. Do we want to do this? >> Let's put them down. And let's go, bro. >> You're kicking. >> I'm not kicking this. Go down like that. I'm picking nobody. >> Got to get your feet in there, kiddo. There you go. >> Despite the man's outburst and the fact that he kept kicking them, they finally managed to secure him in the squad car. The cops discovered spilled milk on the ground, so they searched him again. The total loss to the store due to the man's theft was $24.90 including tax. >> What? What are you talking about? As soon as As soon as we were trying to put the handcuffs on, you're starting to pull away. That way when we stood you up, you you're kicking the milk around. You're kicking stuff around. You're pulling away. You're carrying on. Come on, man. >> I mean, if you would comply from the start, none of this would have happened. You wouldn't have to worry about any of this. >> But every single time you want to fight, I had [ __ ] I was going to go get an apartment today. got my bright card today. >> But the day by stealing. >> I have no [ __ ] money. I don't >> Well, you you can't justify some things and not justify other things. I mean, come on, man. >> [ __ ] in the head. [ __ ] man. I can never kick nobody in the head. I don't think you want to do it. Dick ass [ __ ] man. Nobody in the life. >> Two days prior at another quick trip, he'd also stolen cigarettes. They charged the man with battery to a police officer resisting causing injury, two counts of misdemeanor retail theft, two counts of disorderly conduct, felony bail jumping, and one more misdemeanor also for bail jumping. On the 12th of April 2025 in Ohio, the cops responded to a Zara store at Beachwood Place Mall. There had been a retail theft committed by a group of people. And when the cops responded, they first talked to Zara employees to find out if they were pressing charges. >> Hello. Good. How are you today? I don't suppose you're the manager? >> Oh, no. You >> I stuck here. I thought that she was down here. They called and said that somebody stole some stuff. Okay. >> They're looking for now. I just need to We I want to figure out if she she wants to sign a criminal charge if we can catch them. You know what I mean? or she's just trying to get her stuff back. You know what I'm saying? Like it's kind of like >> could go either way. Hello. How are you? Good. Good. What's up? Somebody took some stuff. It sounds like >> Yeah, >> they got we're out there looking to see if we can find but I just need to know. Are you going to sign a criminal charges? Okay. And uh All right. I'm going to help them look. >> Okay. All right. >> I have this I everything that they stole. >> Oh, okay. >> I don't know. >> You were just able to tell on camera or something like that? Um, so we have a device that tells us every time something leaves our store. It gives us the pictures of what it is and the time. >> Okay. >> So if you want, you could take a picture. It's these items. I think I just had somebody steal two items a second ago. >> Oh, no kidding. Wow. >> Yeah, but I missed them. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Let me picture of it. Yep. >> No kidding. >> Okay. So it might help you if you like. >> All right. And it was a what did they say? Blonde wig. Two black females. one had a blonde wave >> and there was how many um black males? >> Okay. All right. You can't find them. >> Having been filled in, the officer knew he was looking for two black females and two black men. He set out to find them knowing one of the women was wearing a blonde wig. After getting a tip from a security guard, the cops located the suspects. >> So, the people in Zara think you all stuff or something like that. >> They're like they're like real mad about it. You got anything on you that's >> from Zara? >> Oh, no. You didn't say that. >> Tell you what they're talking about. >> I guess they got this device that knows like when someone leaves out what I pay for. >> Well, let me see. >> So, you have anything looks like that if I >> Oh, no. >> Uh-uh. Okay. You mind if we double check? Is it in there? You mind? >> No, we put everything BACK. I WOULD GO IN there and tell you what >> I didn't take. We didn't take nothing, sir. >> I tend to believe honest people to me. I just figure out why they're trying to save the >> I don't know. We can go in there. I was over there. >> Would you go back to the dark? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, you did not I need a second. You >> mind if we get yours better than you? >> Yeah, they look pretty. >> Yeah, that's what they said. >> I just met I don't know. >> No, I put it back on. I don't know. >> I never touched nothing. I was going to find >> Okay. So, you were messing with the product and you put it back and then hang out with >> No, no, I'm being honest. No. >> Okay. Okay. Do Do you mind if we look in there? See if this is in there? >> No. Well, if if they're alleging it, then we have probable cause to search her bag. >> Even though the officers were casual and polite with the suspects, the woman in the blonde wig was insistent she didn't have anything and didn't want the officers searching her bag. However, it was only a matter of time before the woman gave the items up by herself. I mean, you're telling us you didn't. >> How old are you? >> Me. 17. >> This problem? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Yeah. You mind if I look? >> Yeah. Looks like it's these two things right here. >> You got ID? >> No, I don't have ID. >> You say you got it, too? >> Yeah. >> Like 100%. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> December. >> Well, we can double check and see what they want to do. >> Where's the rest of >> I don't know. That's what I have. So, I'm the honest. After lying about not stealing anything and then handing the items over, the cops were a little bit skeptical when she said she didn't have anything else. With a little bit of pressure, another suspect started handing over stolen goods. >> Anything in your bag there? Might we look in there? >> We might be trying to do that. Is that right there? These are the two things that she has and they're trying to tell you something that look like what you get. >> This what else you got in there? >> This is not This is Oh, >> do you have ID on you? >> How old are you? >> How old are you? >> 31. and you're 17. >> The 31-year-old suspect identified himself as Joseph Jackson. And as for the 17-year-old, she identified herself as Rana Willis. The officer advised them that even if the store didn't want to press charges, they were still under investigation. If they provided false ID, it might mean charges. >> You're not lying to me about who you are. >> No. >> I asked you for you said you didn't know it. I don't know the last social. >> Okay. Most people know their social security number and the information you gave me is not coming back to the right right description. >> What do you mean description? >> The the information you gave me the person's 220 lb. >> What does that have to do with anything? >> Because you're not 220 lb. 184 now. What's the problem? >> Did you used to be 220? >> Yeah. >> Okay. What's your Where were you born? >> And what's your >> about to go in handcuffs? >> For what? >> What is your social security? What's the social joke? >> About to call who? >> My mom. >> You're an adult, right? >> Yes, but I still car when the police is involved. I get scared. Okay. >> All right. You're being detained. Put your hands behind your back. >> Okay. Okay. Put Put yourself all the way. >> I can tell you what my name is. >> I've asked you several times and you're playing games. While talking to dispatch, the officer discovered the man had given him false identification. And on top of that, it was also discovered that he had a warrant out for his arrest. Now that they detained the man, the cops had to search him. >> Do you have ID on you? >> What's in here? Is this a knife? >> No. >> Where's your ID at? my first >> got nothing on you that's going to poke me or >> I don't know what >> No, not not right now. >> Okay. >> That's my air. >> No ID on you. >> Okay. I'm not show you. >> It might be right there. >> It's right there. >> Right there. >> I have a different O for you for ID card. >> You might not have seen it, but inside the suspect's pocket was actually a criminal tool consisting of a magnet, and it's used to pop tags on stolen merchandise. Clearly, it didn't work too well that day because they still got caught in the act, courtesy of Zara and their loss prevention device. >> When the system went off, looked up and saw that they were exiting at that time. And these are the two that had the property on their person. >> They haven't identified her, but she fell back anyway, right? >> Yeah. >> How'd you steal? Right there, man. >> YOU GOT MY PHONE. >> WHERE'S MY PHONE? MY PHONE. >> All right. Can I call my mom? >> In there. >> Can I please get my phone number? I got a boyfriend in jail and I got money on my phone. >> I don't know what you don't come across. >> You You already are lying about who you are because If the information you gave me is true, you haven't he >> worry about that later. >> All right. >> After a thorough investigation, both suspects were arrested. The man was charged with theft, falsification, and possession of criminal tools. The woman was charged with theft and falsification. On May 25th, 2025, the cops responded to a call from a discount retail store by the name of Gabes. Allegedly, a store associate witnessed a shoplifting incident and called law enforcement. Here's the 911 call. >> Hi, I um would like to report a theft. I'm one of the managers at Gabes. He stole a cart full of things in in a laundry bag. >> What kind of car? >> Deep Renegade. >> What color? >> Neon green. He said just left southbound on North Fairfield. >> Correct. Going towards speedway. >> And what's the description of the person? >> White blonde hair and has her 9 or 10year-old son that has a >> white female blonde hair is driving. >> Yes, ma'am. >> All right. I've got somebody on the way up there. >> Okay. >> All right. Thanks. Bye. >> Turn your vehicle off. Put your keys outside the vehicle. Put your keys outside the vehicle. What do you mean can you get them? Just stay right there then. All right. In my >> hands where I can see them, everybody already. Officer say Beaver Creek. You're being stopped on suspicion of theft from Gabes. >> I just left Gabes. >> Exactly. Okay. Keep your hands where I can see them. >> Yes. >> All righty. What's the little one doing? What's his name? >> Playing his iPad. His name's Elijah. >> Elijah. >> I don't have his face. >> Oh, that's okay, buddy. All righty. So, I'm going to have you step out of the vehicle for me, please. >> All righty. What's your name? >> His name's Elijah. >> What's your name? >> Oh, Charity. >> Charity. All right. I just left games. >> I know. Step back here for me. >> And I went back cuz uh I lost my wallet. >> Okay. >> Um and then Five Below. >> Okay, I got you. >> The woman's name was Charity, which was a pretty ironic name for a thief. However, she denied being part of any crime or any sort of theft. However, with the description of her neon car, the officer knew he had the right person. The cop had her get out of the car so he could search her, and she was mostly compliant. Okay. So, what do you mean you went back there? >> I I left there, lost my wallet. >> Yeah. >> Looking for my wallet. I got to go to Kroger. >> Okay. >> So, I went through the whole car, went back to Gage, look for my wallet, and then I went to Five Below, and I found it at Five Below. >> Listen up. So, like I said, they said that you had stolen some items from them. >> No. >> And some kind of laundry bag or laundry basket. >> No, I don't have no laundry basket. >> No laundry bag. No laundry basket. Well, they gave this exact Jeep with this plate number with your exact description. So, I don't know why they >> I went back in there to get my wallet. Maybe they thought I took a wallet. >> Okay. Where was your wallet? >> It was next. It was in Five Below, but I went back in there and I came right back out. So, maybe they thought >> Did you have merchandise when you walked in the store? Did you have merch? >> You just had your purse. >> Did you buy anything anywhere? Did you buy anything anywhere? >> Fi below. >> F5 Below. Yeah. And you did did you bring that merchandise into Gabes with you? >> No. >> So, >> I'll go to Gabes and see what what they're saying. >> Okay. You were saying that you walked into Gabes? >> Yeah. I went back into Gabes, looked for my wallet, and then I came back out and maybe they thought since I walked in and came right back out with him, maybe they thought I took something. >> You have items from Gage, >> huh? >> You have no Five Below. >> I see I see Gab Five Below. >> I see Gab's tags right here in the >> That's old stuff. Chastity claimed that the Gabes merchandise that was seen in the back of her car was not the stolen merchandise they were looking for. She said it was for her niece and nephew who she wouldn't see for another few weeks. The cops, however, were not born yesterday. >> Okay. Would you care if I looked at some of these items and stuff? >> Yeah, I can. Yeah. >> All right. I just wanted to double check. What's up, buddy? >> You remember the Thomas the bad guy? >> Thomas, my shirt, my whole car looks a mess cuz I lost my wallet. And they can even tell you or her that I went back in there looking for my wallet. >> Okay. But you like I'm saying here, would we just step back just for a second? >> All this stuff goes to my niece and nephew. >> Okay. Do you have do you have any way to prove that? Do you have any like uh receipts or anything like that for me? >> Sir, I couldn't have walked out with all this stuff. >> I mean, I don't know. I don't know if you could or not. I don't know why they would call us. >> It's mostly all from Five Below. >> Okay. Well, I mean, there's Gabe stuff on here. And Gabe, >> there is Gabe stuff that's been in my car that goes to my niece and nephew. >> Where's your ID at? >> Can I get it? >> Yep. >> Okay. >> I hope you're not lying to me. >> I'm not lying to you. I How could I walk out with that much stuff, sir? >> I mean, it's it's happened before. >> No, no, no. >> If you were to have taken it and it's all less than $1,000 and you don't have any warrants or wants for your arrest or anything like that, you wouldn't you'd be just getting a ticket and have to go to court. That'd be there's a couple of ifs there, but are you 100% certain that you didn't take a single thing? >> Charity didn't answer the officer's question, and she still maintained her story. The officer wanted to believe her, but it was hard for him to do so after seeing all those items and given the story, called 911 and gave them a very precise description. >> Call us. >> I know, but I've been in there. I went back in there. Maybe they thought I took something. Not unless he grabbed something. He does have ADHD and I have been caught at Target with him leaving with stuff. >> Okay. >> And I've got in trouble for it before. >> Okay. >> I didn't take it. He likes to grab things and take it. >> They've had to just see me walk in and walk back out and thinking I've taken something. >> Okay. Okay. >> I didn't go out the >> the main portion. >> I went out the way you walk in. >> Okay. >> Nothing alarmed. No, you know. >> Okay. >> It wasn't enough for her that her lives weren't adding up. So, she went even further trying to pin it on her son who allegedly had ADHD. Also, the cops discovered she had a suspended license and therefore, as far as driving went, she could only drive to work and take care of the kids. >> So, they have you pushing out a cart. >> Pushing out a cart. >> Uhhuh. >> I got one more left. >> There's an offer up there. >> She's going to be straight with us. >> I Okay, I had the trash can. >> Thank you. Okay, what else? >> But the Gabe stuff seriously was for my niece and nephew. Okay. What about the >> the baskets? >> Lanterns and stuff. >> Okay. >> The baskets and lantern. That's it. >> Okay. >> That's all I needed to know. >> They're saying there's more stuff. And even other stuff that's India from >> That was That was it. The rest I got from Five Below. I had those baskets. >> Is there anything Gabe? Anything with like Gabes? >> All the clothes were from weeks ago. The only thing I took the right to listen to me in the trash can I have the baskets. >> Why don't you show me what you took? Cuz it's really hard for me to believe anything you're saying since you've already lied to me. So that's unfortunate. But >> I'm I'm keeping it straight. >> Okay. Well, >> the baskets. >> Yep. >> The trash can. Yep. >> The lantern. >> Yep. The lanterns. >> Sheets. >> Okay. >> And the rest is clothes. Um everything else from Five Below. What about everything in this? >> No, I was searching for my wallet. That's why everything looks like this. >> The officer continued searching the vehicle, trying to find that stolen merchandise. All she confessed to taking was a trash can, a laundry bag, some lanterns, and some sheets. Regardless, whether the clothes were stolen or not, she would still be arrested. >> You're under arrest for theft. Just given what we have here from what you've already explained to us. >> Well, Olivia's here with us. What do I do about getting my I have epilepsy. I need my seizure meds. >> Just hold on. >> Load all this crap up. >> So, listen. You're going to >> listen. You're going to come up with us. We're going to go back up to Gabes. We're going to determine what came from Gabes or not. Anything that didn't come from Gabes, then we will figure it out from there. >> It says on it what says Five Below and what says Gabes. >> Yes, I understand that. But there are some clothing items that say Gabes as well. >> Yes. >> Right. So those you're you're still saying that those >> the stitch shirts. >> You were saying that those were not taken today or those were taken? >> Those were not taken. >> You lied to us since we got here. >> I lied to you one time and then I came to >> So did you take any clothes today at all? Yes or no? Be straight. >> I did not take any clothes. >> No clothes today. >> The only clothes I have is from Five Below. >> There's Gab's clothes in this pile. >> Yes. I got that weeks ago. >> Okay. >> The total of stolen goods was over $650. The manager said she'd stolen multiple items, but due to company policy, they did not call police. Charity was given a court date as well as a criminal summon for theft. Lastly, she was also trespassed from games and Five Below. Today, we've seen some of the most unhinged shoplifterss ever. From Zara thieves to laundry soap fiends to convenience store robbers. What they all had in common was the embarrassing experience of being busted by the cops for shoplifting.
