from a burglary standoff where 31-year-old lvll Adams charged at officers and was fatally shot after ignoring warnings to officer Charles Starks stopping Ronald carnaby who claimed to be a CIA agent responded to a burglary call in Los Angeles California as they arrived they met with the individual who had called the police and learned that the suspect identified as 31-year-old lvll Adams had attempted to break into his home Mr Adams Then broke his elderly neighbor's window entered her residence and caused her to flee shortly after the woman's house caught fire Los Angeles Fire Department Personnel responded and also saw Mr Adams inside the residence while inside officers made efforts to take Mr Adams into custody however he was armed with a knife and hiding from the officers watch how Zone officer Starks initiated a traffic stop and approached Mr carnaby's vehicle requesting to see his driver's license Mr carnaby promptly identified himself as a CIA agent displaying a badge or credential his hands trembled as he explained that due to national security reasons officer Starks could not inspect the credentials since he was not aware of how to verify them officer Starks reached out to the Houston Department's major offenders unit to verify the possibility of impersonation they informed him that Mr carnaby was not a CIA agent and advised him to book Mr carnaby on a traffic vehicle none were on him during the shooting the officers did not face significant legal consequences as their actions were deemed reasonable under the perceived threat if you think this was the murder three counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm three counts of aggravated battery and two counts of possession of a firearm without a firearm owner's identification card Foyd if convicted he
