I gave you my store keys I trusted you and guess what you red me for over and over and over I help but because it's like a you're using gift cards unfortunately it's today we have to take it down to county jail okay give me a favor this time you're being placed under arrest for identity theft he pushing Back store owners have always gone out of their way to make sure that their employees aren't dipping their hands into the cash register however some employees still think they can steal without getting caught call my mother everybody on board up on the 1st of May 20123 two cops were called out to a Walmart in Marshfield after a former employee was refusing to leave the premises the employee Caleb had been fired for stealing from the store rather than running away with his tail between his legs Caleb decided to make his crime worse by trespassing hey Caleb hey name is m what's going on what's going on this morning what's going on okay I'm asking what's going on this morning not much not much okay why did I get called up here okay it's sound like you're not leaving when you they're wanting you to leave basically where we at whatever happened like between you and the company like that's you know that's between you guys I'm not going to get involved in like that sort of thing okay but they want you yeah just little B um right now they just want you to leave the building leave the building leave Park most certainly okay so can we do that now yes yes sir okay that's what I was doing I'm 10 for um okay so let's go sure where's your stuff in right here sure Caleb's not doing himself any favors here he's barely responding to the officers well technically he's complying he's giving the cops the absolute bare minimum he also tells the officers that he has no way of getting home which means that all of a sudden the cops are responsible for him how about I call you a cab right now that's awesome we'll get you there I'll call a c for you you have a squad phone yeah my phone's dead okay we're going to get you we're getting you a c okay he's calling for one you get one hey can I we got to take them all right we're gonna we're okay continue where what are you doing this is Tak me from my house yeah we're taking you to your house we have to search you first cigarette you can test it whatever it's another cigarette it's not a cigarette but it's not anything illegal either later on in the search the cop refers to it as a pill it's not their job to pass judgment so as long as it's not illegal there's no reason to as Caleb but he's clearly annoying them with his repeated request for a smoke hey what are you doing well I'm not cigarette do not light a cigarette in here not okay put them do you have them out of your pocket okay thank you for not lighting a cigarette in here I appreciate that very much and I appreciate that you're not and we're we're we're being nice and generous and giving you a right home so you said you wanted to yourself because you just said you wanted to do that okay are you having thoughts right now be honest with me man okay Caleb here is a classic example of a per who just keeps on digging himself a deeper hole at this point all he had to do was just keep his mouth shut during the free ride home and and he'll be out of trouble that's already a great deal considering he just got fired from his job for stealing but Caleb doesn't know what's good for him so he just keeps on going my okay hey no absolutely not throw it out now throw it out throw it out all right get out the car oh the car now get out hold on out of the out of the car now second give me throw a second I'll throw it out give me a throw a second I'll throw it out you know got going to harass me you're you're going to get out of the car look look look look look here here are you going to be are you going to be a real here here thr it car out of the car let's go no one in their right mind would think it was a good idea to light a cigarette in the back of a police car especially after being ordered not to do so however Caleb seems like the kind of guy who just does whatever he wants whenever he wants including stealing from his employers he's either mentally impaired or just extremely entitled piece I wish I could go stop oh I'm sure you wish you could I do so garage why are you treating me like this mad sorry you feel that we okay you going to take me to jail please no why what did you do wrong I didn't wrong okay so take me home no we calling crisis now what did I do wrong you were telling me that you wanted did absolutely okay shut up this guy went so far as to call the cop a disgrace to society which was pretty uncalled for given that the cops just trying to take him home it's true they stopped him from smoking and considered taking him in to get treatment for the suicidal remarks however they're just doing their jobs and they're doing things Well here here's what's going to happen I'm going need you to step out real quick and I'm going to get the stuff out of your pockets and we're going to go up to the hospital for Med clearance cuz why crisis placed the trap on we got we got to just get you checked out right now man just make sure you're okay I'm check yeah all right okay we just got to grab all the stuff out your pockets and stuff you all right yes sir all right I don't want you to fall backwards at all tired I'm cold I hear you it is it's pretty chilly outside it wouldn't sucks playing these games get out the car do it now sh out out of the car see that was easy yeah that was easy but it would have been a heck of a lot easier if Caleb wasn't acting like such a brat the whole time and let's not forget that he's being taken in for a psych evaluation acting like he's acting could land him a long-term stay but maybe that's exactly what he wants stop can I get soft restraints please the y y to jail get your fat piece suck my fat your name Caleb what's bringing Caleb in shut throughout this ordeal he's been repeatedly telling cops Medics and even the automated voice in the elev elevator to shut up since he didn't seem too stable the cops have decided that he's got to be restrained as for the question of why they brought him in there's a very simple answer to that it was his own bad behavior thank you cool you guys already sear yeah dry off we're going to stay there they already got in okay need you rails up or yes you like with the restraints in place hopefully Caleb will be a bit less combative and the cops and the Medics will be able to take care of him better the cops here are already doing a great job of keeping their cool and putting Caleb's Safety First despite his hostile Behavior towards them I'll beat your mother touch one of your fingers shut the don't trust me you trust me I swear to God I'll you y go you do I'll let you cooperate I I at this [Music] point serious mood yeah's from last night tried to leave this morning please down to one by now there's no doubt that Caleb's either on some sort of illicit substance or he's undergoing a serious mental health episode of course none of this excuses the fact that he stole from his workplace trespassed after they asked him to leave and then misbehaved in the back of the squad are however it does give us an explanation so at this point we just got your oxygen your heart R not put no me okay sounds good C I'll let you know before we do anything we got most your Vital Signs right now we're letting the doctor know what's going on we we uh right now you're doing good so to sit there and relax do not put no tails me then you cooperate and there won't be do not need anything from you guys think he's high just combative or drunk call mother just call my mother please me down the fact that Caleb so against taking any medication suggests that he has been treated for mental health issues before while he doesn't seem to like it medication might be the best option for him and his legal issues can be addressed later on everybody on board mother this got put this on I will my mother please [Music] oh my father die stupid later that day Caleb was medically cleared and then transferred to Wood County Jail where they soon discovered he was out on felony Bond they dropped the majority of his charges but he was still found guilty of discharging bodily fluid at a public safety worker his sentence was withheld and he was placed on 2 years probation on July 10th 2024 cops in Groveland Florida were called to an Auto Zone due to reports of an employee stealing from the business when the officers arrived that afternoon they spoke to employees to find out just what had happened so we got a report made yeah so we did an interview mhm uh do written statements okay they just him back be back in so this is all just like question and everything yes sir yeah these are items that he confirmed MH that he actually came out and voluntarily scaned confirm me that that's what he took he's on they sent so they call back he should be back coming back in a minute now $100 that's times four time four yeah what was the total 986 and these are the questions you asked him yes sir the employee told the officer that he was willing to give a statement but he also revealed that they didn't have any video evidence to prove the crime took place according to the employee the suspect was taking Parts presumably to sell to earn a little extra cash the suspect probably thought that if he only took took Parts no one would notice but when you're super high like the highest in the store that's when I start digging and that's when I started finding that the stuff he was taking off was missing yeah well it stays in inventory because he takes it off so it's not accounted for like like a sale oh I see and then like you see there his mom came here can buy some stuff and just give her the parts run it up so it wouldn't look like he didn't so he gave no that one left that was his first time and U so short um and then it just you guys know what car the kid drives that one over there the blue one the one that just P up that blue one the one yeah the one that just pulled up a lot of people sneak freebies to their friends and family when they work in service jobs however letting your mom take vehicle parts home with her isn't nearly the same for example as giving her some extra whipped cream on her Milkshake the cop apprehended the suspect who to be honest looked way too innocent to be a thief you down yeah turn what did you say all right you mind if I just take this off I'm just going to hold on to this all right just sit down in the chair am I being taken today first we're trying to get this we're just trying to get this all down with right we're trying to get everyone's story straight and everything we're investigating right now yeah I complet I made everything to I'm going to read you something real quick right so you have the right to remain silent the cops are cautioning this kid because they had no doubt whatsoever that this is the employee who's been accused of theft what they want to know though is what he has to say for himself after he's mirandi he seems to be playing dumb or maybe he actually is with your own words explain to me like what happened um well so I it was oil was the big thing I was taking it just to help pay my bills just get by for now CU we're into new house in December M ever since we've been there I haven't paid my half of bills so I was doing all changes just to get some extra money the side to help pay for my mom just to pay my side um I stopped doing that I want to say about two three months ago I I same thing I told him probably about two three months ago last thing I took was about a month ago I told him I was like I can show you the video so what are what are the things you took like certain things it was big thing was oil the last thing was alternator that was probably about a month ago two months ago how do you know how much the alternator normally cost um he's got the price sheet for everything I don't know if it's in there or if he has it still MH the alternator was just over 300 or maybe close to four mhm I'm not 100% sure on that but that was again just for bills okay um but the alterate was not that was for medication that I'm on I don't have right now cuz I'm don't have any chance whether he's telling the truth or not you can't just steal from your employer because you're having a hard time paying your bills there are other options and organizations out there that are able to help people with things like medication if they're unable to afford it sadly this guy chose crime instead no I have epilepsy one the medic I have I had to take it's G facine went that I have really bad withdrawals so the alter was to pay for medication for this month the next month um other than that the oil was all just fo bills it was 20 30 you know how much like how many things of oil did you take dude um he has a sheets it was six six six I believe maybe were they the like the big ones like those we appreciate your honesty I do want to say that okay um and he read you your rights okay and and you understand why we're here okay so I understand that we all go through financial issues you know there's a lot of stress I understand there's things we have to pay for again I don't think you're a bad guy I just want to reiterate that um and we do appreciate you co me so I'm just I want to ask you how did you take them so you said oil yeah through that door just like this door it was so nights when I would close I would take maybe a qu or a gallon two gallons at a time put him in a bag like what did you no just walk his chair through the dumpster the cops are using a pretty common tactic here to keep the man Cooperative by telling the young man that they don't think he's a bad person and try to show that they understand why he did what he did he would open up even more at the same time they of course won't hesitate to arrest the guy once they confirm all his crimes did you sell the oil I as oil changes I didn't sell them to people I sld them as oil change so I would oh so you doing oil Chang I do oil Chang yeah how did you advertise like just oil change to friends cuz I'm in I'm in a car group so I was offering oil Chang to them oh I see okay 30 bucks each that was it I got Which is less than the oil cost okay so I was offering 30 bucks to do the oil change but it was it would I would close once a week and that was for about I want to say about a month maybe month and a half did you ever avoid any transactions that's what he he was mentioning me cuz so whenever I go to check out I would push the X but that's never sold to them or given to them so when he mentioned that I was confused by that and what he meant I never asked for a further explanation it's an unusual crime in that it's both clever and Incredibly stupid at the same time of course the kid would have had no problem whatsoever finding customers when he was selling oil changes at a lower price than the oil cost itself since he wasn't paying for the goods it was obviously going to be PR profitable for him but it should have been obvious to anyone that the oil being used was stolen did you sign and date the item history reports confirming these are items that you've taken from the store without paying totally $986 yeah so I he had me go through scan the things that I had taken and put them out so on those it's signed in date so the total was 986 yeah he had them all up does that sound about right yeah okay so this how long was this going on for so the first thing was October I didn't do it again until I wanted to say about January February that's a lot of oil oh no not oil all that whole time it was different parts and like that yeah so the first time was the cor packs that was the $300 something one that was that was in October nothing nothing until about January and then January to want to say March April I was I would take oil but it was not like every single week it would be like every other week it was per a is there anything you could return to the store like thing still in packaging or is it all gone no I I told like I I would pay it back just at the time I I it was I needed the money how long you been working here going on 10 months going on 9 months all right and when was the first time you took some it was October how does this guy expect to pay it back when he sold the oil at below market value very little about his story makes sense apart from the alarming amount of detail he provided about just when he committed his crimes he also just told them that he started stealing from AutoZone as soon as he was hired which was 9 months before this incident I'm going to have you go and stand up stand up and right now you're [Music] being I'm not smoke you're going to jail okay they do want the amount the threshold for Grand Theft is 7 50 okay so because the total was more than that that's why we're here now um again you're as far as what goes from here you're going to go to jail you're it's going to be the Lake County Jail okay and then you'll see a judge at first appearance that's tomorrow if you don't bond out the b be I don't know what the bond is right now I know they Chang B schedule um but I'll let you know as soon as I find that he acts as though his crime was no big deal but he's also giving the cops everything they need to know to arrest him for grand theft even if he shows remorse for what he's done he still has to learn that his actions have consequences and this includes explaining what happened to his mother H why of what over 700 for Stuff being what you have my number memorized yeah they said I'm going down there if I can make bond I should be able to get out today if not it's supposed to SP in the morning but Bond he said he doesn't know find yeah we'll let you but I I need my so how do I find out if you're a bond we'll let you know surely it's pretty clear that his mom had no idea what he was up to despite the fact that he stole Goods on her behalf at the same time it didn't take her long to believe what she'd been told so maybe it wasn't his first time being in trouble for theft of auto parts and the stolen oil he was ultimately charged with Grand Theft while we're used to Cops catching thieves there are very rare instances when the thief is a cop one such case happened on March 14th 2024 in North Carolina allegedly a cop stole $900 from a man he was arresting do you see anything no yeah look no cap I'm not even going to touch it it's blue Huns right here it's all the blue Huns are right there behind that receipt thank you all that's my money he didn't have that is it your money yes I heard him crumble it up thank you thank you all my money that's my money that's my money right there sir you've been watching me that whole time I seen you take it I seen you come just count it if I'm right it's going to be around $1,000 if I'm right and like I told you I just went to I I seen you still no sir you I just to little I'm fine I'm sorry I wasn't I wasn't trying to expose you me bu brother I just seen you steal my money it was no Reas to pop my rubber band brother it was no reason for you to pop my rubber my money I didn't pop your rubber band off your money it would be easy for the cops in Charlotte to Simply side with their colleagues and ignore the accusations after all it's not exactly unusual for criminals to lie to the cops however it's not like this guy was trying to deny whatever he was arrested for also it's a serious accusation and it can't just be swept under the rock Mr CH went money he separated my money he was trying to steal it and I C he put it in between his legs and as his as his colleagues approached me he worked it towards the door he tried to make it seem like I was lying I'm not going anywhere I'm in full custody of of of of these officers I'm being detained I'm not going anywhere I don't want any problems I'm not armed I didn't do anything wrong I was just pulled over for a traffic stop he just tried to steal some of my money no I was I was just looking at the camera I just know how it goes you saying I don't want to so what are we going to do about this problem he justy to steal some try to put any allegations on him I'm not trying to say anything I'm not I'm not using my words like to try to hurt anybody I just know what I know and I don't even like the fact but I know you guys have like special protoc I don't even like the fact that he just tried to steal and nobody like stood up for you you know I'm saying nobody okay the man in handcuffs is monc Moon and he's accusing this officer Henry Chapman of stealing from him after a traffic stop fortunately for Moon he's articulating his case quite well and he's avoided becoming aggressive or overc confrontational which made it easy for the cops to hear him out I have 2020 Vision I'm not a criminal I don't do things that I'm not supposed to I heard him tampering with that rubber band that rubber band was on that money because my girlfriend gave the money this morning and told me I wasn't even supposed to be in her car I just took it because I think want R around all day and my girlfriend had a car and she was going to work IED be picking her up Central at her job at her she do Cosmetics at with that money go to the bank I'm pretty sure when yall check's what's what's your full name mon Moon m o n Mr Moon do do we have all all your information yes sir but I want to know what y'all going to do about Mr chat okay by this point the man and in handcuffs is understandably upset and he's beginning to get frustrated because he doesn't take the officers are taking his complaint very seriously fortunately there are very specific protocols to follow in cases like these Chapan supervisor explained the course of action he'll be taking I'm telling you exactly what I'm going to do all right is that I I have to get on the phone I have to call my supervisors to uh know to run it up the chain all right but you're but but you're you still going going to jail oh yeah I understand I was but but like that's why I'm I'm asking you if you gave them all of your information on how to get a contact with you did you do that name my first name last do do a do a we have address and and a phone number myri 95 and interestingly Moon's got no problem whatsoever with the fact that he's being arrested he just doesn't want Chapman to get away with taking his money which is fair enough because like he said it was up to $11,000 getting arrested and losing 1,000 bucks at the same time would feel a whole lot worse I would like for you to write down um uh Sergeant Moore's name I would like for you to write down uh uh Mr lack's name I would like for you to write down your name and um Mr Chapman's name and it's not like it's not like I just to my information is also on the citation I appreciate it I appreciate you guys for like analyzing the situation because like if it wasn't said like this or seen like this or for scene like this nobody would have believed me you feel what I'm saying I just wanted you guys to believe me and I'm sorry if I I rate or or I'm sorry if I seem like I was doing too much I just wanted you guys to believe me without me having to do anything like to show you guys you feel saying like try to grab him or try to like reach in his car and grab the money while I heard it you feel I'm saying while it was good of moon to apologize to the other officers it also wasn't necessary we've seen from his behavior throughout that he's been honest with the police and that he wasn't making a scene it's the duty of the officers to investigate the possible theft even if Moon had committed a separate offense what did he triy to tell you when he walked over he's claiming that he didn't try to steal it but we all saw what we saw I'm not going to lie I don't have nothing nothing to say to you I appreciate you sir no cap like for real I really appreciate you for for at least like like even in the playing field like you feel what I'm saying when I say that I mean like like just not treating me like trash because of like and I I assure you like I pretty pretty sure you guys hear this all the time everything I've said since you seen me has been the truth you can look up that I just had court I want you to know also that what's happened today from not this moment I don't I don't think all you guys are dirty I don't think because you could have been did something crazy to me You' seen everything before they got there I know that you're a good cop I don't think that all cops are like that I don't the cop apologized for busting moon for speeding while moon for his part seemed genuinely remorseful for breaking the limit he also gives further details that could back up his story explaining that his OCD means that all the notes were facing in the same direction I mean that's definitely not some lie you could make up on the spot and when it comes down to court when it all that stuff goes down that's stuff I'll explain to them say hey I had no problems here especially under the circumstances of you having that Federal warrant but pulled over a compliant no resisting it whatsoever we had no problems at all I appreciate you off have a nice day thank you I'm going to get the rest of your property and move it over here okay thank you brother hey look like if y'all call my phon and my little cousin like like there'll be someone else getting in contact with you about it an investigator of some sort I was trying to be like as manly as possible I was I was trying to not not let like not to let my girlfriend get anytime you make an allegation like that whether it's true or not they're going to contact you there'll be a full investigation that's how it goes thank you sir I appreciate an internal interview was conducted which was exclusively about the theft accusation as for the speeding charge and the outstanding warrant those issues will be sorted out later the current Focus was figuring out whether Chapman stole his money so anytime there's there's allegation of wrongdoing by a police officer obviously a supervisor has to look into it you understand that yes sir okay and you also understand that we all have these these nice body warn cameras that's attached to us right yes sir okay for like when we come in contact with citizens understand girlfriend pulled up to the scene of the crime uh to like uh to get the uh the the money but he told her which he had also told me the money was on my possession so it has to stay with me which wasn't a problem so uh from then on forth uh I um remained in the back of Chapman's car so my property was on the front seat the whole time so as we pulled up to the uh well we remained on the scene for about 20 minutes um then we were clear to leave the scene while you were people uh as we were clear toly the scene I just asked him K hold on for a second your money how was it packaged uh it was all forward in um uh hundreds and 50s OCD Tendencies are rarely seen as a positive thing and most people wish they just didn't have to deal with it in this case though it worked in Moon's favor as he was so specific about how he carried his money and it just might prove that the wat of cash the cops Stole was definitely his make a long story short as um uh lack start bringing out the envelope for the uh inventory I mean uh for my stuff like my property I heard I heard a rubber band being Tangled with that's when I asked the question out loud I said uh why would you takeing rubber band off the money and I can't quite remember the answer he gave me but he confirmed to me that he took theber band off the money and like it's my property I'm a man so I'mma watch my belongings the whole time you feel what I'm saying and like I had stated when lck pulled me over I was eating Wendy's and that money was build money like it's on y'all cameras that when my girlfriend pulled up she asked me for the bill money so he told her like keep the money in my possession which was you know what I'm saying which was cool which was in you guys well which was in his possession at this point so as I was being transferred into the car I heard the rubber band pop that's when I asked the question like oh like what you doing like like what were you doing with the money and he was like basically like like he confirmed that he was doing something but he just didn't say what or I don't know if I missed it but I know we was of us you don't you don't recall what he said I don't recall but like I'm saying was five of us right there so I know one of the cameras probably picked up on it or his should have Moon makes another good point the officer's body cam would have picked up whatever it was he said or even the theft itself if the officer didn't do anything wrong the body cam footage would exonerate him but if the man was guilty the only evidence they need is the video footage I kept seeing him move his legs as soon as I said it and put it out there he tried to put the money in between his legs and hand her over the stack when I seen the size of the stat and officer casperone as asked me how much money was it I didn't want to tell you guys the exact number because I wasn't sure what he had took from the stack all I was sure of was that the way that I placed the rubber band on the money wasn't the same it wasn't cuz I have OCD somebody higher than me said to stop this interview yes okay there's there's people coming in to to speak with you and investigators about that situation yep like I told said I apologize I wasn't trying to make situation bigger than it was I just didn't want to be seen as a liar stop no I just seen on TV chill out man stop he was still very apologetic which is pretty ironic considering Moon's the one with a legitimate complaint then again it's not uncommon for victims of crime to feel though they're wasting officers time when they have a legitimate reason to complain so like this is what's going to happen all right we we have people coming in obviously they they have to talk talk to you all right so um I I'm I'm going have to hold on to your weapon right quick okay yep go take just take the uh whole holster off it's one of them two us um Sergeant Burke and you know one of his detectives gonna come and speak to to you all right so just chill out relax do do you need no I'm I'm I just want to apologize everyone I say man I one of these things dude and I'm sorry Chapman seemed to have finally come to his senses though he tried to apologize to his fellow officers he couldn't change the fact now that he was A thieving cop he later admitted to taking the money but he argued that he wasn't stealing it regardless he was charged with embezzlement and resigned from the force the next day on the 31st of May 2023 police were called to a Subway store after reports an employee had been stealing from the cash register she could have picked up a few extra shifts to earn more money but instead she opted for a shortcut unfortunately that shortcut wasn't exactly legal I have a daughter to take care please don't send me to jail you can get rid I'm not saying nothing B give me give me a few minutes yes we have evidence for 3 years three years no are you out of your mind so right now you are going to get arrested okay I need to speak to you because this has been going on for a while completely up to you you want to speak to me or not okay but I I hold on let me finish if you do want to speak to me and you have an explanation for whatever is that you may have done I'm going to read you your rights and we'll go from there just to get kind of like a baseline if you this is kind of your chance you get to explain something for you you might be a bit surprised but a lot of these dumb thieves try to justify their Crimes by simply saying that they have kids lots of people have kids but that doesn't mean they steal $20,000 from their employer it's wrong of course to steal anything whatsoever but after stealing such a huge amount like this there's no excuse that's going to get her out of trouble I have evidence and piles and piles and piles and piles of evidence with detailed note and corporate is this is me right now corporate is coming after me for you that's all I have to say not send me to jail for my daughter I have you been told before nobody else I excuse me I told you you had a past record I worked my I worked hard for six years to drag you out of that you had all whatever drugs felonies you have you did not listen I gave you my store keys I trusted you and guess what you wed me for over and over and over I you've been recorded now enough you been Step Up Step Up despite the fact that she was warned by the manager several times the suspect didn't stop stealing while the cops understand that he has every reason to be emotional they asked the manager to leave the room so they could carry on in the interview without his interference I have a a 5-year-old do seven-year-old daughter okay that needs to be picked up and I have nobody else problem regardless of what happened I don't know how okay we resolve this away without taking you to jail unfortunately it's not up to me only up to it's up to him okay yeah so there is a lot that we need to talk about all right and I cannot force you to talk to me we can have a conversation maybe get a better understanding why this happened if you want to but I have to read your rights I have never like intentionally done anything wrong to hurt you Mr vinia I need you to step up please we cannot do this back and forth thing if you're going to keep doing this then I cannot do an interview it's always the most innocent in our society who are most deeply affected by crime in this case the woman's daughter had to endure the trauma of her mother's arrest hopefully the cops will find a relative to care for the girl I don't feel like I've been stealing don't feel like he so what exactly I feel like he treats us very unfairly okay what is all of us what is unfairly to you I like there's one girl been working her six years she still makes minimum wage like he like he doesn't give us any appreciation and I've been here a long time and I I know I don't need the sound come off you know like as excuses and anything but he's a hard man to work for right and I've never I never like intentionally meant like I never like in my mind like stole anything okay I just feel like we're all treated so unfairly so what I mean what do you think happen when you're pocketing money or when you taking money from the register or when you're not bringing stuff up and then later on I just I understand it wasn't a lot it's pretty ironic how she said that she doesn't want to make excuses right as she's in the middle of making some damn excuse still even if she is telling the truth about her manager there was still no valid reason for her to steal from the store she also said that she didn't feel like she was stealing and that she didn't take a lot but if 20 Grand's not a lot to her then what is if you started taking money what was the initial amount that you were taking that you can recall a couple dollars here a couple dollars is what like $2 yeah like5 it started with5 yeah I mean was it every day back then in January no no when did it become every day think I was do it every day I mean it was a dollar here two or or here here in there you know like to get in the tip J we only talking about a dollar a month like $1 I didn't take like 20s and big amounts I didn't nobody mentioned 20s but you did take 20s no I would go and get changeed a lot okay all right I'm not going to argue with you I'm I'm trying I understand for you to tell me a little bit to help me out help show out I know I'm trying but I didn't like steal a lot like at the time it was little amounts she doesn't seem to get the fact that it's about the total accumulated amount of everything she stole she's been doing this a while now so if she's only been stealing just $10 a shift that can definitely reach thousands of dollars in total how much do you think you have stolen from your store in total not a lot not a lot now whenever there's a cash transaction I'm just looking at the patterns here seems to me like whenever there's a cash transaction you don't don't rank up the cash transactions you either ring it up you cancel it you don't ring it up you you put the money in provide change you split that amount into the tip chart you take some cash then or a combination of both or later on you come back and take cash so it's a lot it's been every day for the past at least for the past month it's only it hasn't been that much not that it makes a difference but it I mean I don't take a lot every time okay and I I know that doesn't make difference so a day over time how much do you take a day $10 $10 yeah yeah if she only stole 10 bucks per day it would take around 5 years total to reach $20,000 the manager says they've only got 3 years of evidence so something here's just not adding up at this point she won't gain anything by lying as to how much she stole each time the total amount is already damning in itself you know I've shown up every day for you for eight years and this has just started recently and I apologize from the bottom of my heart my daughter I have I can't do this to my daughter please Tino can't we handle this a different way way besides sending me to jail would you would you allow me to not go to jail and we can handle it with some other Ty me know I've done so much too for you I've been loyal to you and I apologize loyal do you how you pick up your stuff and go or I'm going have to you you take care of stealing thousands of dollars behind her manager's back and accusing the man of unfair treatment doesn't sound loyal at all it was audacious of the woman to manipulate her manager like that at the end of the day she was stealing from the company so it won't be up to the manager to decide the woman's fate through a lot the time that you've been here you think you stole more than $750 7 I don't think so you don't think so I guess I have I I guess I I don't I think some of the times when you see me taking means it was exchanging money okay so I don't I didn't think the exchange The Exchange does happen the problem is you're not putting in while you're taking out so that's not an exchange how is that an exchange you you have a friend what do you have a friend no you have he says it's 19,000 there's no way there's no way there's absolutely that's why I ask you you give me an estimate how much you think you've stolen not not nowhere near that then how much a few couple hundred over six months I would take like $20 a day $20 a day or so yeah I mean I know that's not correct that's not the right thing to do but I did not steal $119,000 after claiming to have stolen $10 a day earlier suddenly she changed that number to 20 which only confirmed her deceit and if she sold $20 a day over the span of 6 months that would have already totaled more than three grand Yet the woman claimed that the total didn't amount to even $750 if she wants to somehow come up to a more believable lie she's going to have to do the math first so obviously you know your fire yes and yours will trass I'm also you're pregnant how far long are you month or two a month or two okay did you go to the doctor yet I my appointments on my okay how many stick you PE on that's little hard to believe huh yeah but yeah is this your first no okay well then you all right so I'm just going to patch you down is there anything on your person I should know about no guns knives weapons of mass destruction ala hide in your pocket anything that cut me gr me I'll stick near make me have to go home but want to go home sorry no not me I'm going to pat you down out here it turns out she stole about $12 a day and that's a total in just six short months of more than $21,000 she of course was charged with Grand Theft the woman decided to take her case to trial despite the mountain of evidence against her which included a 100 hours of video footage not surprisingly she lost the case and was sentenced to 2 years in jail on the 12th of July 2024 police officers were called out to a Publix after reports of multiple fraudulent transactions from one of the store's employees they began the investigation by talking to a manager and he was more than willing to tell the cops just about everything they needed to know okay so she's been refunding it from customers or no got it okay and then keep Lo the same this been going on now said three weeks video for like weeks multiple times we trying to figure out statute that would be I think it's be more of like a fraud thing then so she I guess she's doing like the the fraudulent refunds where she's taking the the receipts and then refunding it and then putting it onto a gift card know they've made it easier now you don't even need the items to stand the receipt on the receipt it'll pop up all the items on the screen you just s them all over the refund and then not to blame Publix but if it's that easy for employees to steal from them they're going to have to improve their system even if it sacrifices the ease and efficiency of the system they're going to have to make some changes still even if the cash was just sitting right in a shoe box in the staff room that doesn't mean employees have the right to steal it hey Serge um me and F are here at Publix and I I haven't done one these in a while so the I guess the manager here at publ is saying that the their employee I guess over the course of three weeks has been basically getting receipts and refunding items on those receipts and then putting it onto a gift card and then using that gift card for herself is that the fraud okay all right what what receipts did she colle like where is she collecting the receipts from exactly the original one was probably a customer return yeah like a customer return stuff like that so I guess they don't need the actual item anymore to the return they just do the by the receipt so um so it's to fraud it's funny yeah that's she's here receips over over like last night she one for $11 she messed about times same one over over same two items like yeah $362 I think use that one like four or five times once again if the employee able to process multiple refunds on the same receipt the public has to address this gigantic flaw in their system the cops had to call their supervisor for guidance because they're not quite sure whether it's fraud or theft how long has you been an employee here for 2020 March years almost okay or over four years okay and she just started doing this within the last three weeks June 14th was the first one okay since 20 and June 14th was the first one correct okay is she in there with somebody else right now yes okay so while we're out here I'm just going to get a quick sworn statement from you and what uh what are we here for today what happened we have an associated pering fraudulent transactions from June 14th through July 11th approximately 23 times totaling a loss of at least $575 94 she admitted to performing these FAL transactions and issued a statement to that effect that was completed today okay um so between the 14th of June and the 11th of July she did about 23 uh fraudulent transactions how is she doing this she's ping up saved or saved refunds scanning them on register when no one's around and applying them to her own gift card when saves refunds how does that by now the officers have a pretty good idea of how the scheme actually works however at this point it's the manager's word against the employees thankfully Publix does have security cameras so it looks like the cops are going to find out the truth is each 23 of them captured on video yes okay and was this occurring at the customer service desk or where was this occurring at customer service desk okay the main one right here in the front yes and occurred I think one other once or twice on a regular register okay but majority 21 times at customer service and you do want to prosecute yes and for a total of 5754 594 575 5759 she's this one right here yeah the back okay so all she does she'll recall it keeps it in her pocket M scans it so the customer will basically come off and return Whatever item they have correct and then she returns it for them and then goes back in she scan you'll see her scan her okay the video footage here makes for some damning evidence there's no way this woman can deny the crime with a pretty straightforward case the cops can confidently confront the suspect supect and at this point the suspect Kimberly was already awaiting her fate have to Google Miranda Right have a seat have a seat you're Kimberly okay okay are you guys arrest me yes we're going to have to based on what they told us okay cuz it would if it was just like a it'd be just you be getting cut loose from today but because it's like a you're using gift cards unfortunately it's today we have to take it down to county jail okay cuz it's considered fraud okay I I I unfortunately I don't have any better news for you I'm sorry I need to call my husband so he can come get me he's not going to be com and get you from here to be as long as you're Cooperative I'll let you make a phone call from our station um it can't be too lengthy just let him know hey I got arrested at Publix by the police I'll be going out in County they'll probably give you like a some kind of bond tonight and then he can just Bond you out human as we are it's easy to feel sympathy especially when a person turns on the Waterworks however the cops know quite well that Crooks have to learn the hard way so they won't commit crime again and sadly for Kimberly there's no way she's going to cry her way out of this and having these rights in mind you wish to toss toss to me no okay all right stand up for me turn around face this W right here do you have anything on you anything to know about any drugs knives need those weapons okay keep your hands yours just just put your put your hands like up just up on behind your head right now anything else in your pockets at off anything else you have pin okay I just have a seat Kimberly was charged with theft and multiple counts of fraud unfortunately for her you can't pay your bail charges with a gift card from Publix just days before Christmas on December 20th 2023 the cops were called out to reports of a stolen credit card that was being used by a gas station employee in a scheme to defraud the worker in question had been caught on camera the night before stealing the card hi are you Kimberly yeah hi I'm officer this is Officer Myers Hi how are you doing hi you actually just spoke on the phone yep okay so you work at Speedway I do did somebody come in there yesterday making a purchase leave their credit card I don't know what was the card you used to purchase his his uh food with um it was mine okay you have it I'm missing my white one these are the ones I use okay so if we go in there and we talk to the people at Sunny and they give us the receipt for this order and they give us the last four it's going to match one of these that's the one my boyfriend should have use okay which one which one are they going to which one is it going to show us it should be the white one which white one this one yeah that white one that's my card cuz that's the one we use on the app most of the time okay and I have my Chim but I don't ever use that anymore it's often quite easy to a liar because they throw way too much detail into their stories and that's exactly what this woman's doing right here if she was innocent she'd likely just hand the cop the card that she used to pay instead she keeps yapping about various credit cards and discussing a billing app that she and her boyfriend use if there other cards in there you don't need to be searching around in there no I was making I have okay what are those cards in the front pocket these these are not cards these are okay coupons okay what's the Visa that was in there what visa there's a Visa in the front pocket some said these on it look kind of purplish huh this is my grandma's death card what's that other card not that one that one oh that's not that's my boyfriend's I see C rosn who's rosalin that's not a boyfriend no it's my boyfriend's card he just your boyfriend's name rosn no my boyfriend's name is not rosalin my boyfriend's name is Isaiah but he has it's it's his sisters but it's a it's not a okay it's not a solar C it's not even used it's a it's a pra card it's a what it's a prepaid card she somehow thought she could convince the cops to believe her by simply saying that the card wasn't stolen thankfully the cops aren't as dumb as she thought they were the card of course has a completely different name on it and it doesn't require a genius to figure out that something's not quite right they get loaded money on to through apps they're all card hunting in so it's not any of these right I don't have so where's the card that was used for this I don't have any other cards so she had this one but I don't have she said it was a boyfriend so my boyfriend's sister we have a whole we have obviously I have three yeah yeah I got right here all right all right so at this point okay I'm G to advise you of your Miranda right okay are you familiar with Miranda rights yeah okay so this what I'm going to do is I'm going to invise you Rand wres at the end of it I'll I'll ask you if you understand and if you want to talk to us okay so let me get through all of them and then we'll go from there okay so am I just to am I being arrested you're being detained at this point okay so when you can't aren free to leave you're not free to leave right now okay so actually let's just go over here to This Woman's credit it might have been possible that they were all prepaid cards but that doesn't explain the different names cops deal with Liars all day and this woman as they say isn't the sharpest tool in the shed judging by how things are going so far it's just a matter of time before she's placed under arrest the card that's on there last four what is that card um it's a has to be a debit card but it's only all right who placed the order uh my boyfriend your boyfriend yeah and I was just coming to pick it up after donating okay so who's the the card that's on there who is it registered to it should be um um one of ours it should be yeah sorry I didn't mean do that so if it's yours that's funny if it's yours then where is it it has to be with him has to be with him yes so so all right so let me ask you this where do you work at I work at Speedway which one the one right here the one right over here yeah okay so all right so if that card was that card used last night in your store um I don't know okay so if we go back over we were run we were to run that that card against anything that was purchased in your store last night or any transaction in your store I don't know okay so what does that card look like then if that's one of yours or your boyfriend's what does it look like um it would be red I believe red and what would be on it um it's a Florida card um it I believe it has believe it has the bu football team on it it's one thing to forget a number in your bank card but This Woman's not even sure what color it is it's also not in either her or boyfriend's name but it did seem pretty easy for her to throw her boyfriend under the bus she knew exactly what she was doing when she said he was the one who placed the order what would be the name on it two your boyfriends have PL names on it yeah it should be it should be mine it should be yours it should have your name on it yeah I [Music] always stand by I know I really like fav this time being plac under arrest for identity he's pushing his back let me ask you this if we go in that car and go to grab your stuff are we going to see that that credit card just be honest because if you're honest with this and forthcoming it makes it makes you a lot smoother if you're Cooperative okay a part of [Music] that um I I really really wish I could the woman was charged with fraudulent use of personal information and unlawful possession of personal identification after being arrested she was transported to jail without further incident today's cases show us just how far some people will go to steal from their employers the real irony here is that getting caught stealing from their workplace means they'll also be fired so MoneyWise things are just going to get tighter and also it's an important reminder that you should never bite the hand that feeds you stay safe out there and we'll see you next time
