cops are entrusted to uphold justice but what happens when they get it completely wrong here are four times when idiot cops realized they arrested innocent people here for to talk to you so you're at this is Officer Ashley Hayes from the Teton County Sheriff's Office on March 18th 2024 officer Hayes observed a couple in a car waiting for more than the usual amount of time at a gas station in Teton Wyoming they also changed drivers raised suspicion in her and decided to follow them on their way the couple then drove to a nearby post office where officer Hayes confronted The woman Inside the post office premises watch how the confrontation unfolds hey uh here for to talk to you so you're at the gas station for a really long time and then pulled over switch drivers so why are you avoiding us um can do whatever you need to do okay 2722 have't step out ton 22 and the woman agrees to a search when officer Hayes tells her that she needs to conduct one officer Hayes calls for a K9 unit to detect any drugs inside the vehicle observe what happens while the officer waits for the K9 unit to arrive you know what you have to call my L okay you have to call my sounds good you can't go back into that car [Music] though the post office and22 you get A9 out hey guys so so while you're here I'm going to have you put your phones right here you step out of the vehicle please I'm not giving you permission to touch my car actually that's okay yeah so you're going to put your phone down here though and he needs to get out I'm calling my lawyer I'm not going to put my phone down my lawyers you officer Hayes decides to put the man in handcuffs watch how the encounter ends there Sean they're saying we're being detained and they're going to bring the drug dog to our vehicle sergeon both of you sit on the curve right now I'm sorry we don't have a right to say I can detaining you sit on the this is our all right sit on the curve where you're under arrest for resisting I have done nothing sit and say shots fired over here this property is technically a bandit so before I leave I have to put something in the computer that I talk to such and such and this Who belongs to if this is your Sheriff's Office on May 13th 2023 officer Hudson and other officers pulled over an individual named Robert Huffman Mr Huffman was driving around a property he owns in Sussex County Virginia when he was stopped by the cops watch how the traffic stop escalates hav't committed a crime right now there an investigation going on Sir shot fir in the area and I need to make know who I made contact I haven't committed a crime withs Sheriff I identify myself I haven't committed a crime sir what's your name I'm not I haven't committed a crime what's your name sir my name's robs pleasure to meet you they do not need Reasonable Suspicion to do so for those who don't know cops require a reasonable suspicion or a valid probable cause to detain someone after the stop ended Mr Huffman drove to his nearby property where he met his father Michael Huffman who was already on the property with his son's permission watch how the police interact with Michael Huffman okay so sir maybe I can talk to you caused him to miss two days of work his camera and the sign he demonstrated were both confiscated by the officer he was charged with criminal trespass however later the charge was dismissed almost after a year however Mr Hartford filed a lawsuit against the officers involved the proceedings of the lawsuit are unknown if you think this was the last cop who realized they arrested innocent people then you probably haven't heard of this next case I done anything wrong well you're recording it's suspicious activity which puts this into a category of suspicious activity which means versus Ohio I can detain you until I can determine or deny that there oh say is not enough for reason reasonable calls for ID I would there there's already a call on it so so suici activ is that is that failing or misdemeanor that's a misdemeanor these are officers from the Greer Police Department on June 15th 2016 a First Amendment auditor named Mr Valentine was filming in a public parking lot for the muncipal court and the police Department buildings in Greer South Carolina watch what happens when officer shata approaches him hey how are you today how are you today what's your name and badge number I'm okay yeah so I'm just curious any criminal activity there's nothing to worry about so why you asking for my ID then because you're not answering me and when you're not answering me how do I know you're not this parking lot to come shoot it up it's called the Fifth Amendment right so I can check on that if it's suspicious and the part of that checking is to identify you so if I can get it's suspicious a felony or misdemeanor Hey sir again name badge number Sergeant forer 301 all right how you doing good how can I help you well he contacted me went my ID for no reason so I need a supervisor let him know that you know without any kran being committed I don't have to present my ID well he actually got a call on you well that what what crime have I committed well some anytime somebody calls in and reports suspicious activity it's suspicious it's suspicious of failure or misdemeanor uh it's neither one but he asked NE okay thank you so he said it was a misdemeanor Sergeant Forester claims that they received a call against Mr Valentine as him being suspicious justifying officer shira's approach the supervisor also claimed that officer shata could have detained Mr Valentine based on the call watch how Mr Valentine does in this situation so now we have a conflict on which one it is we don't have a conflict at all we have a conflict with taping taping parking lot
