She's refusing to get out of the car. She's refusing to get out of the car. Why? Are you with the Flagler County Sheriff's Office. You're being placed under arrest. Step out of the vehicle now. I will sue you. I want a supervisor right now. I want a supervisor. Put your dog I want a supervisor right now. >> dog down. YOU LET GO OF ME. OH MY GOD. 250, SHE JUST HIT A TELEPHONE POLE. PUT YOUR HANDS UP NOW. PUT YOUR HANDS UP. COME TO ME. From time to time, we all do something dumb. But Karens take things to a whole new level. That being said, they quickly regret their reckless decisions when the dumbest Karens turn a traffic stop into a felony. Um I don't I don't think her car's going anywhere. I honestly don't even know how she got here. Because they want to make sure you're okay cuz you do have a little bit of blood here. I'm going to Okay. So Right? Okay. Well, it's right here on your dress, okay? On April 29th, 2025, in Palm Beach, Florida, the cops got a report of a badly damaged Range Rover parked in the middle of a field in West Palm Beach. The deputy quickly spotted the vehicle, but he had no way of knowing if there was someone inside. Did you guys see anybody get out of it? No. All right. 26, I guess. Hey, yeah, I know. It's just got to start doing a girl and I'm pretty sure she's in the car right now. So. Um I mean, it looks Um I don't see any baby blue paint. And it's on the front. It's on the front right. And also, it looks like her car's going to be sprayed. Um I don't I don't think her car's going anywhere. I honestly don't even know how she got here. The cop immediately notified the Florida Highway Patrol who were looking for a hit-and-run suspect. If this was the car involved in that incident, then they expected to see a paint transfer from the other vehicle. Actually. Actually, yeah, it looks like there's some baby blue paint here. Yeah. Yeah, if FHP want want to come here. Um Um Did you want to talk to the other? No, I didn't. Like I said, she won't even wake up for me. She's only on the side. I think her name Hey, what's going on? Hey. Hey. Good morning. Hey, how are you? Good. How are you? Okay. How are you? You dizzy? No. You're fine. Did Did you know that you got into a little bit of a wreck? What? Huh? But you're you're you have a bunch of front end damage. I don't think your car is mobile. The driver, a young woman, appeared to be intoxicated and possibly injured. But even more concerning was that she was struggling to speak properly, and the cops had trouble understanding her. Huh? Sorry. Um where where are my car keys? Your what? Where are my car keys? Your what? What Where are my car keys? Did I get like Did it all turn to it? Well, if if you want to step out, we can show you. You're able to walk? Do you know where you are right now? What city? You're in West Palm Beach. All right. You can You go up to the front of the car. You can take a look at your damage. You're in West Palm Beach, yeah. And this is the Mint Eco Car Wash. I don't know how she got here. Oh my god. Okay. Come up and look at the front of your damage here. Carefully. Don't want to You poking here. What do you want? See? Good night. See? It's over here. All right. Huh? Where is he? Oh my god. Where is my Where is my fiance? The woman had no idea where she was or how she got there. She kept asking the officers what happened to her car and where her fiance was. The woman said she just wanted to get back home to Boca Raton, but for some reason, her fiance left her there and disappeared. All right. Well, what we're going to suggest to you is that we're going to do a crash report. Um we have your vehicle. Well, you You're involved in the crash. What What is You're going to have to get a Where on the front right? Yeah. There's another vehicle that you crashed into and there's nothing really a crash. It's just a little scratch, okay? Do you have any uh medical uh issues like being a diabetic or anything you Yeah, do you have like any medical history? In your situation, did that happen? He was driving my car, actually. Okay. Well, then why were you in the driver's seat? Exactly. He was driving my car. He was still in the driver's seat, right? Yeah. He was driving my car that night. He was driving my car. Yes. First of all, I don't know anything. From this? Just this one? Absolutely. You have a driver's license, ma'am? Um I do, but I don't have it on me. Okay. The moment the paramedics arrived, they immediately noticed bruising and blood on the suspect. They were under the assumption, of course, that the injuries resulted from the crash. At first, she said the blood on her was just a Starburst stain, but she would later change her mind. What happened here? No. You're fine. Okay, we'll just take your blood pressure as well. If you weren't in an accident, do you know that you're bleeding on your arm and then on your on your dress? Just on your dress. What is this? Your right side? You have blood, you have bruises on you. It appears you have You have been in an accident. It's Starburst. I don't think that's Starburst. Give me that. It looks like blood. Um I'm pretty sure I Why don't we uh walk up over to where the ambulance is up here? And they can check you out. They can take your vitals and make sure you're okay. I don't even really agree. Why is that weird? Or you don't know? I'm not, you know, I don't know. Hey, just a second. Um Sober. You sound sober. Okay. The cops had a hunch she was hiding something or at least not telling the truth to them. She was full of contradictions, and suspiciously, she didn't have her phone with her or her driver's license. And whose phone do you have in your hand? It's not my phone. It's my old phone. Oh, your old phone? Okay. Do you want it from me? Huh? They want your ID so they can scan it. >> I don't have an ID. I just threw that out. Oh, you don't have it? >> I have it, but All right. Okay. I think uh I think they still have your passport. That's All right. That's all you That's all Okay. Please don't go to waste time. Is uh All the rest of this is yours, correct? Yes. Okay. Just making sure. Can we take you to the hospital? Just to make sure you're okay. Where? Everywhere. Where? Everywhere. I don't know. That's the problem. Where am I bleeding? Can we take you to the hospital, yes or no? Sir. What I can do and I can write you a citation right now. Then what do I have to go to the hospital for? I'm not a peace officer. I'm just asking you, can we take you? No. So, you can say no. So, peace officer. What's up? Can I ask you Why is he trying to transport me to the hospital? Because they want to make sure you're okay cuz you do have a little bit of blood here. I'm going to Okay. I can't help it. Right? >> Where Where? Okay. Well, it's right here on your dress, okay? See it right there? He said I was hurt. Okay, that's what I'm saying. She didn't seem to care about her injuries, but she refused to go to the hospital. When asked about the blood again, she said her fiance assaulted her. If she was telling the truth about it, then she might want to reconsider going through with the marriage. It looks like you might have had like blood in your nose. Just my nose. Yeah. I don't know. I was hit in the head by my fiance, and I'm telling you that. Okay. So, I was hit really hard. Okay. By my fiance. Okay. So, then listen. That's the one thing. Want to make sure that you don't have a Listen. Make sure you don't have a concussion and make sure there's no internal bleeding cuz that is a very significant crash. >> child waiting for me. Okay, listen. That is a very significant crash. All I'm saying is we need to make sure because we can't legally leave you alone without having checked out. Hold on. Without having checked out by a doctor for concussion or for internal injuries, okay? The policy, I don't have it. Listen. The medics insisted on taking her to the hospital, but she kept downplaying her injuries and pleading with them to let her go. As they kept talking in the parking lot, she got increasingly agitated, and at some point, she decided she'd had enough. I will walk away from you. You have no right. No, it's Okay. You're placed under arrest. No, I'm not under arrest. Okay. All right. Let me do the test. Stop. Stop. Why am I under arrest? Why? Stop. Stop. Stop resisting. Stop. Stop resisting. Stop. Don't bite me. Stop. Stop. What are you doing to me? What are you doing to me? Let go. Please stop. Please stop. Okay. First of all, it's no alcohol. Stop. No. Get these handcuffs off of me right now. Get these handcuffs off. Oh my gosh. I've never a little bit of the ground around us, but Please Please take them off of me, sir. Sir. Sir. Earlier, they only wanted to take her to the hospital, but now she'd managed to get herself arrested. Not surprisingly, she blamed the cops for the whole predicament, even though it was clearly her fault that she was placed in cuffs. What are you doing? Why are you doing this? Why? You had plenty of chances. Why? Why? Why? What? You're being sarcastic. Why? Why? Why? Why? Let me ask you why. I can't stand Why? Please know that I don't belong here. What? Please know that I don't belong here. Stop. Please know that I don't belong here. Huh? You're free to go. Please know that I don't belong here. Hey, go. Pull it again on the side. Stop resisting. Get in the vehicle. Get in the vehicle. What are you doing? Get in the vehicle. You need to get in the vehicle. Stop resisting. Get in the vehicle. I'm willing to be arrested. I'm an attorney. Walter, you got her? You're resisting arrest. >> Let me out of here. Let's go. Ready for the door? Go ahead. Ready for the door. Ready for the door. Oh my god. Well, if the cops thought that would be it, they had another thing coming. She continued screaming, shouting, and resisting. She was eventually taken to the station and was charged with hit-and-run, as well as resisting without violence. On the 1st of May, 2024, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a patrol officer spotted a Toyota leaving a trail of sparks and smoke in its wake. He immediately pulled them over, not knowing the vehicle had just traveled 18 miles scraping the asphalt the whole way. Hey, how's it going? What's going on? You know you're missing a wheel? I'm missing a wheel? Yeah. Do you know that at all? You don't know that at all by chance? No. Yeah, you're driving You don't smell the smoke? No, hold on. Sit right there. Sit right there. I'm sorry. No, you're fine. Yeah, you're you're down to like it looks like you're down to the wheel. It's smoking and sparking everywhere. You're leaving a trail all the way you're going. No, I didn't know that. You didn't know that? Where are you coming from? Um um from northeast. [cheering] Where's northeast? Northeast Heights. Northeast Heights where? Um 11 Okay, perfect. Can I see your driver's license real quick? Right off the bat, the officer noticed several red flags. In addition to her slurred speech, instead of giving the officer a license, she gave him a credit card instead. She was even struggling to turn off the engine. Do me a favor, go and turn the car off real quick. Turn the car off. Thank you. Turn the car off. And go ahead and put the the keys up on the thing. On the dashboard. Yeah. Do me a favor. Yeah. You don't have any shoes on or anything. Can you step over here? Come Yeah, put the keys up on your trunk. Do you have No. I mean, you don't you don't need to check me. Excuse me? I mean, you don't have to check me. I don't have any weapons. Do you know why we stopped you at all? No. As far as what was happening around her, the driver seemed to be clueless. She hadn't noticed a flat tire, or the smoke, or the sparks that were flying off the side of her car. When the officer realized she wasn't aware of her car's condition, he decided to show her. Over here. Oh. I didn't know. You didn't know that that was happening? No. You Why wouldn't you have noticed that? Please stand over there. Hello. I asked Ma'am, come over here and stand at the back of your trunk. Don't touch me. Come stand over here. You need to stop Please stand right there. Yeah, what? Why are you still touching me? Okay. Cuz you're walking towards him. He's telling you to stand over here. I'm not touching him. Well, you're not listening. >> walking towards him at all. >> calm down or not? He was grabbing my arm. Well, you Because you're walking towards him. All right, I'm going to go get my phone. I'm going to record him. Go to the back of your trunk. Ma'am, we're not we're not trying to be rude or anything with you. Can you just stand back here and wait? I It depends. It depends on We're not trying to be argumentative with you. We're just looking. The cops are authorized to approach any vehicle and inspect whatever's in plain view. However, the woman was so protective about it that she even requested a lawyer. That made the cops even more suspicious that there might be something in her vehicle she was trying to hide. Please stand over here. Okay. Do not try to get in your vehicle. Don't step forward. Yeah, that's all you That's all we're telling you. Just hang out. That's all you got to do. Well, don't come at me. Absolutely not. Go over there. >> Absolutely not. No. You don't have to touch me. You do not have to come towards me. I'm touching you. I'm touching you. You looked like you were going to fall over. No. Why don't you have a seat on the ground or something? No. I don't need to do that. Move. Move. I I am not comfortable with you. That's okay if you're not comfortable. Well, you can go to the back of your trunk. Yeah, what do I have? I have a gun. I have a knife. You do? Nothing. Okay. I'm saying. So, you need to move. Move. It took a while for the officers to run the license plates, but the vehicle turned out to be registered to her husband. At that point, they still hadn't been able to identify the suspect as she was being very uncooperative. So, what's your first name? You have to provide that. You know that, right? Okay. You were driving this vehicle. You can't provide your driver's license. I'm trying to get your name and date of birth so that I can pull up your driver's license information and make sure that you're a valid driver. Can you please tell me your first and last name and your date of birth? That's called concealing identity. This is a lawful traffic stop. And I don't want you to get in more trouble. Give Give me a reason. Because I'm asking you. No. And you We're stopped lawfully. >> to do that. Okay. Hello. I'm Officer Rodela. Hello. Hello. Jen Withers. Okay. Do me a favor and stand by your car here just so just you know and we'll be with you in just a minute, okay? Jennifer finally identified herself, but she probably didn't even realize it. She even gave the officer her date of birth. At one point, one of the officers remarked that she was failing to cooperate due to her racial bias. You already explained to her the situation. Yeah. She's refusing to identify herself. We're all too white. I think it's because he's brown and I'm white. Why? Well, I just wanted to get that for the camera. Ma'am, can you go back to the back of this car like we asked you multiple times? Get out of my way. >> I'm not going to get out of your way. I'm going to ask you one more time. Get out of my back to the other to the back of the trunk? Stand right there. Just relax for now, ma'am. Just >> Why is Why are they touching me? Because we have to investigate the situation here. >> walking. Yeah, but now you just just pushed one of the officers, so that's a crime. >> No, I didn't. Yes, you did. I did not. And just like that, Jennifer upgraded her situation from a traffic infraction and a possible DUI to battery on law enforcement. Even though she initially appeared to be pretty chill, she was about to show the officers another side. Why are you touching me? I I have not done anything You did. You've done two things three things wrong. One, you're driving on a rim, which is What? Cut it out. That's it. Take a seat. Take a seat. Yeah, she just kicked me in the nuts. Good morning. Hi, ma'am. My name is Officer Duran, okay? The reason I'm here, ma'am, is I don't know. I'm sorry? Buenos dias. What's your name? Jen. Jen? Okay, my name is Victor. I'd shake your hand if I could, but you're in cuffs, okay? >> Yeah. All right. You're Are you having a rough I can't take them off, but let me see let me see how tight they are. When Officer Duran approached the woman, he tried to reset things and make the woman more cooperative. After loosening her handcuffs, he let the woman stand up and then explained to her that he had to do a DUI check. Do you feel a lot better? Okay. You know what? You've been very cooperative, so I'm going to let you stand and just talk to me like this, okay? All right, ma'am. The reason why I'm here, okay? Is because you're suspected of [snorts] being under the influence of either drugs or alcohol, okay? That's the reason I'm here. So, in order for me to make sure if that's true or not, I need to make sure that you Listen to me real quick. Just real quick, ma'am. Then I will let you talk. I will let you talk. I promise. Okay, just listen to me. The reason why I'm having you You want to choose? Well, the reason why I [snorts] pulled you out, asked you to step out of the car, is because I just want to make sure that you're safe to drive that vehicle back home, okay? Do you feel like you're in good condition to drive it home? Okay. I don't know that, okay? Cuz I'm not a doctor, but do you mind performing some some field sobriety tests just to make sure that you're okay to drive? Yeah? Okay. The officer knew that he could at least do the eye check without having to remove her handcuffs. But the moment he got closer to her, he noticed a very strong odor of alcohol. At first, she was reluctant to admit it, but she eventually came clean. I feel nervous. Okay, let me ask you this real quick, ma'am. It's okay. Yeah. Yeah, it's okay. All right? We all have bad days, okay? I can smell an odor of alcohol coming from your mouth, okay? Uh have you had more than two beers? No. More than one? No. How about uh more than one shot? I can I can smell the alcohol, ma'am. Okay, that's why I'm asking you. I'm not asking you if you had it. I can smell it, and it's coming straight from your mouth. Okay, so have you had more than two beers? No. Have you had more than one shot? Two shots? What kind of alcohol have you Have you had? Just wine. Wine? Okay. Just a glass? Uh small glass, big glass? Small glass. Small After she confirmed she'd been drinking, the officer proceeded with the eye test. The results were undeniable, and he quickly debriefed his supervisor before reading the woman her rights. But she can't She can't finish. Um she was swaying at first. She's able to keep her balance now. Um she couldn't finish She She ain't She's not listening to directions. She keeps moving her head. Um but even what I could get from the HGN on the onset, uh unequal tracking, uh she does have nystagmus. So you are under arrest for driving while under the influence, okay? Why? How? I'll just let me Let me run this all by you real quick. >> Tell me. >> And then I'll explain everything to you, okay? >> Did Did you give me a breathalyzer? >> I give you my word We'll get to that. I give you my word, okay? I don't make promises often, okay? But I promise you that what if you let me get through this, I will explain answer any question that I can as far as why you're arrested and then the breathalyzer question you had, okay? All right. Until she was taken to jail, she didn't resist much physically. By that point, all she had to do was sit in her cell for a few hours and let the officer do his paperwork, but the moment they closed the doors on her, she got really ferocious. So it'll be about an hour to an hour and a half, okay? Okay. Go on and go on in there, and we'll check up on you periodically, okay? Okay. Let me out. Ma'am, we can't right now. Just wait a minute. Jen. Jen, hang on. Jen, hang on. Let me tell you something. >> [music] >> I'm almost done, but the more you keep kicking, the longer it's going to take me. Just give me 5 minutes. Just give me 5 minutes. I'm almost done, okay? I'm almost done. Just please, cuz the more you kick, we have to keep coming in here. 5 minutes, and then we'll be out of here. Okay? 4 minutes. Jennifer was charged with DUI and resisting arrest. She later took a plea deal and pled no contest. As for sentencing, she was given community service and also had to attend [music] DUI school. She was also ordered to write three letters of apology and had to put an interlock device on her car, which is a breathalyzer that prevents the car from starting if the driver's under the influence. On July 17th, 2025, in Flagler County, Florida, the cops got a call from the manager of Miller's Ale House about a person slumped over the wheel of their vehicle. Deputy Rainey drove to the location and found a 58-year-old woman in the driver's seat with the engine running. Yep. What's going on? Nothing. Well, something is going on cuz you were slumped over. >> I'm sitting in my car waiting. For what? For nothing. I'm not I'm confused as to why someone is concerned about why I'm sitting in my car. >> Because you're slumped over and some and people saw you at the bar for a long period of time. >> I'm sitting in my car though. Okay, here's the deal. Right now, I'm going to explain the law to you. Right now, you're in actual physical control of this vehicle. You're intoxicated. I can tell that. And you can take Let me finish. Hold that thought. You can be arrested for DUI. Deputy Rainey then offered the woman two choices. First off, if she provided her ID and a driver's license, she might be off the hook, but before the deputy could get to the second option, the suspect cut her off. I'm not driving, so no, I'm not I've already explained to you the statute. I want your driver's license. >> to give it to you. Sorry. I'm not doing anything. I'm sitting in a parking lot doing anything. So sorry, I'm not going to give you my driver's license. 10-69, code two, please. Shut the car off. No, I'm not doing Give me your driver's license. >> I'm not going to. You're required by law to give me your driver's license right now. >> anything. I'm telling you right now as a law enforcement officer that you're required by law to give me your driver's license. Don't make this more difficult than it needs to be. Give me your driver's license or go to jail. I'm not going to jail. >> You will if you don't give me your driver's license. >> wrong. I'm sitting in a car in a parking lot. I have done nothing wrong. >> [music] >> And you're You're about to. Give me your driver's license. >> means nothing. It's not law. Sorry. It was a classic case of a Karen being too smart for her own good. She'd already refused multiple commands and was baiting the officer into an argument. Realizing this, Deputy Rainey took a stricter approach and laid the consequences out of not complying. I'm going to explain it to you again. You are in actual physical control of this vehicle. I am not. I You are. >> I'm in a parking lot. >> The definition of actual physical control, you have access to the keys, which I just removed from you, and you are in the driver's seat. So give me your driver's license or this gets much worse for you. Now. No. Sorry. Not going to. If you don't, you're going to end up out of the car in handcuffs. Do you understand? I do understand. So give me your driver's license. >> I'm not going to. Okay, that's obstruction. I'm giving you one more chance to give me your driver's license, and then if not, you're going to get ripped out of the car, put in the handcuffs, or you could just simply give me your driver's license. Your choice. You want to end up in handcuffs? I have another deputy coming here, and when they get here, you're getting removed. So you either give me your driver's license or you're getting removed from the vehicle. At that point, the suspect gave her the silent treatment. As the deputy was waiting for her partner, she kept talking to the suspect and gave her several more chances to provide her ID. However, the woman didn't take the deputy seriously. Let's take it to court. Did I say you were driving? >> I'm not doing anything with the vehicle. I'm sitting in a parking lot not dying of heat. That's all I'm doing. You are now because you refuse to listen to me. >> Girl, I'm 58 years old. There is no Then you're Then you're grown enough to know better. I'm 53. Who cares? Right now, you are You're committing two I'm committing nothing. >> You're breaking two Florida statutes right now. >> breaking any Florida statutes. I've done nothing. >> Two. Done nothing. Two Florida statutes. >> I've done nothing. Give me your driver's license. >> nothing. All right, so here's what's going to happen. When the other deputy gets here, we're going to take you out of the car. We're going to put you in handcuffs. And then I'm going to get your driver's license anyway. That'll be fun. So let's do that. I don't think you will enjoy it. Nobody likes being in handcuffs. Let me explain something to you. I want you to stop talking, and I want you to listen. I am willing to let you get a ride home. If you don't, I'm taking you to jail. So give me your driver's license or go to jail. As far as the deputy went, she couldn't have been more clear. If she wouldn't hand over her driver's license, she'd be taken to jail. Any clear-thinking person would understand there's only one good option, but as far as Karens go, they really never know what's best for them. This is my last request. I'm going to wait for your guy because I'm sitting in a parking lot doing nothing. I'm sitting in a car. I have not driven. And if you get out No. >> Get out now. No No, ma'am. I am not getting Ma'am, do not pull me out the car. Oh my god. This is like YouTube. Stop. Stop. What's YouTube? Whatever you're doing, are you crazy? You're not listening to me, so get out of the car. She's refusing to get out of the car. She's refusing Step out of the vehicle, ma'am. Why? Are you >> Charged in the field with the Flagler County Sheriff's Office. You're being placed under arrest. Step out of the vehicle now. For what? Not surprisingly, they had to forcefully drag the woman out of her car. Once the handcuffs went on, Deputy Rainey briefed her partner. The suspect stayed silent with a smirk on her face. So they said she's been at the bar for several hours. When they came up to the window, she was slumped over, car running. She's been just not listening the entire time. Asked her to give me her driver's license about, I don't know, 18 times, and she keeps telling me no, she's not doing anything. That's where we have her right now. Okay. Did I not warn you that this was going to happen? Did I not say that? Several times? You're going to sit in my car for right now. I'm really confused. Because I did not leave here. I'm sitting in the car. And she's being very belligerent. Okay. And I did not say I was leaving. I'm sitting. Did she ask you to give her your driver's license? What I asked her what I had done. Okay. Which is fair. Okay. Um Either way, you're in control of the vehicle when she asked you for your driver's license. It doesn't matter you're in control of the vehicle, ma'am. >> I did it. The suspect claimed she understood, but she really didn't. Even after the second deputy confirmed to the woman what Deputy Rainey said earlier, she still couldn't accept the fact that you don't have to be driving to be in control of a vehicle. I'm sitting in my car but I'm not driving. >> But that is in control of your vehicle, which is against the law. If you're intoxicated >> I'm not moving. It's not Ma'am, I mean, if you know more than me, then you're welcome to be your own lawyer. >> moving. >> Okay, you're in control of it when you are in there with the keys. All right? So, if you would have gave her your driver's license, maybe we would have gone a different route, but when you don't when you don't follow our lawful orders, and when you don't you're not compliant with those orders, then this is what happens. But I'm not moving or doing anything because I'm a grown-up and deciding should I do something stupid or not, and I decided not to. And that's the difference. >> And I only asked you for what's your driver's license, and you refused. >> Because this is like 2025, and you know what's going on in the world. And it's It's like the price of tea in China. The deputy's witty remark made the suspect go silent, but it didn't last long. The woman claimed that she was sitting in her car and had thought about calling her son to pick her up, but she disregarded the fact that her engine was running and she was slumped over the wheel. Never been in handcuffs in my entire life. Never what? Been in handcuffs in my entire life. Well, I guess there's a first for everything. >> and I've done nothing wrong but sit in a parking lot cuz I knew I drank too much and decided to not drive home. And she's attacking. She's attacking you? Well, you sit in a car. >> Okay. I just she attacked you. But what did I do wrong? >> How did she attack you? But what did I do wrong? I asked you first. Well, I'm in a car. >> Okay. So, she came to my car and knocked on my window. So, how's that attacking? I'm not going anywhere. Okay. So, how's that attacking you? So, you are being placed under arrest. What? For resisting without violence, like I warned you multiple times. How did that happen? You uh defecating on yourself. Um because this is very scary. I've never ever had any I know altercation with police in my entire life. So. The deputy then brought some paper towels over so the suspect could wipe herself off before sitting in the car. They secured the woman in the squad car and then talked to the bar manager about the mess she'd made in the parking lot. One, two, three. All right. We're going on this side. Watch your head when you sit down. Okay. I'm going to go wash my hands. All right. More? No, I'm going to wash my hands. All right. And I'll ask about the car. There is a um A mess? A a sizeable pile of Got it. in that parking spot. In the in the act of right there where she did over there. Okay. Uh I'll have someone come clean it up. It's all And I just asked her, I said, "Hey, are you okay?" And she said, "Yes." I'm like, "Look, you you can't drive. You need to call somebody." She just rolled up the window on me and waved her hand. And I'm like, "Someone's coming." So. Okay. All right. What began as a welfare check turned into a trip to jail. Instead of identifying herself and heading home, she made several dumb choices and ended up facing multiple charges. After the owner of a smoke shop called 911 because a woman had stolen from him, nobody thought it would escalate much further. The cops confronted the suspect in the parking lot, and then she did something really dumb. Get out of the car! Get out of the car! Get out of the car! Really thought for a second she's taking off on me. Get out of the car! She's going to take off. All right. All right. I'm here for you. Hey! Out of the car! Out of the car! >> I'm coming. Put it in park. >> I am. I'm coming. Put it in park. Step out. I will. Just a second, please. Stop reaching. I'm not reaching. >> Stop reaching. Get out of the car. >> me. I'm scared. Okay, get out of the car. Put your hands behind your back. Please, I need I need to tell my partner No, put your hands behind your back. Stop. Stop. You're going to get tased. You're going to get tased? No, you don't need to do that. Okay. No, you're not listening. Put your hands behind your back and keep them there. I will listen. I'm Please don't put cuffs on me. The suspect claimed she was scared, even though she was bold enough to run from the cops at gunpoint just minutes ago. She was quickly apprehended, and the cops already knew her name and her background, but there was something about this woman they didn't know. I'm 7 months pregnant. Okay. Well, well, you need to start listening then. Okay? I'm please I'm talking to you. No. No. No, you're not getting a cuff right now. As soon as I get another deputy here, we'll work on that, okay? But right But right now you're going to stay in handcuffs. Okay? You tried to back up on me when I told you to stop. I know. I'm sorry. >> Okay, and you didn't get out of the car when I asked you to. Okay. No, no. Listen. Okay? You need to start listening, and then things will go different. Okay? You don't reach when the cops are here. >> I'm sorry. Okay, this isn't your first time dealing with the police. What do you mean? What do I mean, Taylor? I haven't dealt with the police. Taylor. Really? I just got to Vermont. I don't know anything. >> got to Vermont. You're in Florida. I'm I know. I mean, I'm from Vermont. Yeah. Yeah. You You haven't dealt with the police in Vermont? >> Not in years. Not Not Not in years since you were a kid? Yeah, since I was like 19. >> Okay. At that point, the pregnant suspect, Taylor, acted like she had no idea what the confrontation was about. She was clearly afraid, so the officer did her a favor and adjusted her handcuffs. She also hoped that he'd somehow be able to let her go. Are you going to take me somewhere? Taylor, you have a warrant for your arrest. What do you mean? Yeah, you have a warrant for your arrest out of Vermont. So, you have to take me somewhere? Yeah. As soon as they confirm the warrant, you're going to be taken somewhere. Yeah, you got to go to jail. Why? Why? Because you got a warrant out of Vermont. And my baby's coming. Okay. I'm going to be sick. I don't understand. Why are you going to be sick? Cuz I need to take my meds. Okay, what's what's your meds for? I'm addicted to something. They're in the car. Okay. I don't want to be sick. I have water. Can I please just take them? Calm down. First of all, okay? Okay, if you're going to be sick, I can call paramedics here, okay? But this is what What is your meds? Those Those Are they Are they Are they in your name? Are they in a prescription bottle? Neither. They're just from the store. Please. Okay, I can't give it to you right now. It looked like Taylor had a drug problem. She told the officer she lived with her boyfriend and seven other people, which didn't sound good at all, especially for a young mother. But at that point, what she was really worried about was going to jail. I don't want to lose my baby. You're not going to lose your baby. I am if they're going to take me to jail. You violated probation or something? Well, that was 2 years ago. Okay, well, then why didn't you just take care of it? I was scared, and then I was in the hospital for almost 3 months. And when I got out, I was living in some place really far away. I couldn't get there, so I figured time went Time kept going by, and I never reached back out. I mean I mean, this is what happens when you let things just fester. Can't you just cite me for what I did wrong? Not if you have a warrant. The warrant is from is from Vermont saying that they they that you did something that you needed to go back to Vermont for. How long does that take? I don't know. I need to tell my boyfriend I'm leaving. That I'm getting taken. We'll We'll take care of that. Simple. Now you're going for escape. Oh, please. I'm just scared. As if not taking care of an old warrant wasn't dumb enough, the handcuffed suspect, who was 7 months pregnant, decided to run from police. It didn't last very long, though, and at that point, she went back to her apologies and pled with the officers to let her go. She just took off on me. I'm sorry. I'm just scared. I'm sorry. So, you have no charges? Yep. I'm just I'm pregnant and I'm scared. Okay, well, now you just got more charges. All your warrants. I'm just pregnant and I'm scared. I'm sorry. I'm I'm 6 months pregnant. 6 months pregnant? She holding anything? Huh? She holding anything like that? No. I'm sorry. I'm just scared. Why'd you run? You're 7 months pregnant and you ran from the police. I'm just so scared. I'm sorry. Do you have anything in your pockets? No, I don't have anything. Pockets. Female search, if you No. Have a seat. As she was carefully placed in the squad car, they radioed dispatch to call a female officer to come and pat her down. She'd already admitted to being an addict, so she might have drugs on her. I'm just scared. I'm sorry. Yeah, well, well, you got charges out of here, you got charges out of Vermont. You're You did not make your situation any better. Any better at all. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I don't really care that you're sorry, to be honest with you, okay? You put a lot of people at in danger with your reckless driving. And then you were obviously looked like you were stealing from the smoke shop over there as well. That's why the owner was chasing after you. So. I I some My friend gave me these things one time, and I got addicted to them now. I'm trying to taper down off them. I'm sorry. See if you already read her Miranda. Is this it? Yes. This is all you took? Yes, sir. The only thing Taylor stole was a sheet of black kratom pills. Kratom is a tropical tree from Southeast Asia, and in low doses, the leaves of the plant act as a stimulant, and in high doses, it's a sedative. It's not an illegal substance, but it's been known to produce psychological and physiological dependence. Whose car is it? Mark. If that's Mark's car? Yeah. Okay. Mark have a last name? He's a Palatono Palatono. Okay. All right. All right. There's a female coming. Oh, that's right. I forgot about that. I don't want to answer the door. >> [laughter] >> Sheriff's office. What No, which We want to give you the keys to the car. No, get the owner of the car. Get the owner of the car, please. Can you Can you kindly get the Can you kindly get the owner of the car? Can Can you get All right. I I didn't ask you if you lived here. I said could you get the owner of the car? Okay, we'll go keep it for safekeeping then. When the man realized the cops were about to take the keys with them, he stormed out of the house, even though he claimed the car wasn't his. There were several sports cars parked in the driveway, and losing one of them would not be a trivial matter. That's not your key. That's You said that's not your key. I'm the sergeant. I'm the sergeant. You said this isn't your car. We want to get the keys to the This isn't your car? The car belongs in this driveway. How do you know that? How do I know that? >> you know that key belongs to the Because we just arrested the girl that was in it, who was your girlfriend. That's not my girlfriend. Taylor's not not your girlfriend? I have no idea who who who is that. Okay. Well, do you want to get this Tammy here and Palatono whose car this is so we can give her the keys? Okay, let me let me call the guy who lives here. Again, because that may might have been something you should have led with. I I asked you >> We tried. YOU POUNDED ON THE WINDOW and said, "CAN YOU TAKE THIS CAR KEY?" YOU DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THAT. WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? >> LOOK. I HAVE IT ON CAMERA. LOOK, all we're trying to do is get get the get the car keys to the owner. Bro, Mark is Tammy's son. This is Mark's house. I don't know what the hell you're talking about, but that display of behavior is not professional whatsoever. And then to say I'm going to take the car key after I said, "Why don't you just leave it here?" That's not PROFESSIONAL EITHER. THAT'S TWO STRIKES, BRO. After shouting at the officer some more, the man tried to get a hold of the owner. When that failed, the keys were taken over to the sheriff's office. They designated Taylor as a fugitive, but she was taken to jail and charged with fleeing police, attempted escape, and obstruction. In February 2024, the cops were searching for a small business owner in connection with a crime. After failed attempts to contact her, she was spotted by an officer driving a car, and he pulled her over. The driver, however, completely ignored him. Okay. >> It appears there's just two people. Yeah, her husband's on the right side. Husband's on the right side. Uncooperative, doesn't want to get out of the car. Open PC. For him or for her? Do we have anything on him? No. Well, he might go for the stuff. Okay. He basically told me when I went to the tow pound over there before, uh he's like, "You're not going to arrest my wife." I said, "You don't tell us what we're going to do." You were trying to get a supervisor started? Yeah, I already got one coming. Who's coming? I got Kenny coming out here. Let's do business, bro. If they don't want to come out Lower your window down. I've already asked them. You were trying to I'm right Yes, can I go barrel? Yes. I need you to get out of the car. Um I need sergeant. I need the sergeant. Okay, he's coming, but I'm I'm giving you a lawful order to get out of the car. If you don't, you're going to be removed from this car, okay? Well, I need the sergeant. >> do that. I need you to step out. I'm going to break your window. You understand that, right? >> He's arresting me, ma'am. The suspect went on disobeying orders, and she was probably on the phone with her lawyer, hoping to get some help. The cops didn't waste any time, though. After asking her to come out several times, the cops decided to yank the woman out. All right, all right. No. Do not touch me. Yeah, this is my car. Get out of the car. Step out of the vehicle. Get out of the car. Ma'am, get out of the car. Ma'am, I'm not going to tell you again. Get out of the car. Get out of the car, ma'am. Get out OF THE CAR. GET OUT OF THE CAR. GET OUT OF THE STOP RESISTING. >> [screaming] >> STOP RESISTING. THE SUSPECT WAS RIGHT. While there wasn't a warrant out on her, there was an affidavit, which is a sworn statement from a witness, which the cops could use to justify the arrest. And if she hadn't resisted, things really could have gone a lot smoother. >> [screaming] >> Where's your car at? Where is your supervisor? Where is >> [laughter] >> A moment later, she had forgotten about her arm. What really bothered the woman was the prospect of going to jail. The question was, was she really guilty of a crime, or was it all just a big misunderstanding? Yes, sir. Can I didn't do nothing. I promise. >> [laughter] >> I promise. I didn't do nothing. No, no. I'm a good person. I will not get a warrant. >> [laughter] [gasps] >> Well, we can take out Look at them in a second, but they're not going to go uncomfortable when you're resisting. I should never been arrested. That's why. I should never been arrested. They never even had a warrant for my arrest. A warrant doesn't have to be issued by a judge. Officers can drop warrants. You need the fire department? Your knees? Okay, I'm going to have them come out and uh check you out. >> shoulder. Shoulder? What shoulder? We'll have the fire department come and check you out. Wait, where did they got operated? Okay, we'll get the fire department. Can you loosen them up a little bit? Just a little bit. I can't loosen them, but once the fire department gets out here, we'll take a look at them for you, okay? Just hang tight. Another officer checked the woman's handcuffs and determined they were loose enough. After advising the woman to wiggle her hands a bit to make it more comfortable, he then turned to the man in the passenger seat. Who is she to you? That's my wife. That's your wife? Okay. That's totally wrong, man. He's been trying to arrest her for the last past couple months. Well, I think he's been trying to get a hold of her because she has an open warrant. He don't He don't got an open warrant. We got We got lawyers and everything and everything. >> Okay. Well, we'll we'll figure that out, all right? That's totally wrong. What's your name, my man? Jose Rivera. Jose, okay. Well, here's the deal, look. I appreciate your cooperation, okay? It is what it is. He's got a warrant. He says he's got a warrant. He's been trying to track her down. He's been trying to track her down, okay? We own a business. >> Okay. Whose vehicle is this? It's my vehicle. Can you do me a favor? Can you just hit that start-stop button and turn the vehicle off for me? Thank you very much. He's calm, so we're just we're just talking. What hospital are you at? I was in um I can't figure I was in Abbott. Okay. The man was likely referring to the Abbey Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, which offers nursing for patients recovering from cardiac surgery and other conditions that are heart-related. The bandage on the man's hand corroborated the story. Did everything go okay at the hospital for you? Yeah, I got I got to go back for another procedure. Okay. Are you Do you have a valid driver's license? Are you able to operate this motor vehicle if we needed you to? Yeah. Yeah, that's what I'm going to check just to make sure your license is valid, and then you're good to go. You have Do you have a license on you, sir? Yeah, I'm getting it out right now. Okay. Is this her purse? Everything, yeah. Okay, but you keep your wallet in there. Do you want to hold on to her purse for her? >> Yeah, hold on to her. Yeah, okay. Well, like I said, we're just going to verify that um you're good to operate this motor vehicle, your valid license, and then you'll be free to leave, okay? Again, I don't have any knowledge of the case. Apparently, this officer said he she's got a warrant, so he's been trying to get a hold of her, okay? We have a supervisor en route, so if you want to talk to them, you can talk to them about it as well, okay? Yeah, and there's lawyers involved and everything and this Okay. So, what's So, if you have a lawyer for it, then you're aware of what's going on? But she ain't got no warrant, though. That's the thing about it. It's just he's been harassing her. The man explained that they owned a towing service, and recently, one of their drivers, a young man, had been involved in an accident with an elderly gentleman. The man chose to go after the company, and supposedly, the officer who pulled them over took the case very seriously. He arrested the kid that that happened. Um there was some video footage that um was sent to our lawyer that, you know, they got everything together, but he's just been on top of her. Yeah, that's the officer on the other side. Oh, never mind, he's coming over here. Sir, you're all good. Where's your license? Uh you're free to leave. You don't have to hang around. If you are going to hang around, don't interfere with our investigation, though, cuz then you're going to get hemmed up, and I don't want to do that, okay? Yeah, so she had a warrant out for her arrest. The officer pulled her traffic stop. He requested her to step out of the vehicle. She refused, so we uh tried to escort her out. She still refused, so we had to pull her out and put her on the ground. He's not going to No, she's not going to >> Okay. Make sure you don't fall. Oh my shirt, please, man. My shirt. My shirt. Before you get in the on the stretcher, I'm going to do a quick search on you, okay? Yes, ma'am. Yes, ma'am. What? Yes, there's just so much pain. >> Okay, take your hands out. Okay, hold on. Do you have anything else I should know about? >> No, ma'am. No, nothing. Before she was moved to the stretcher, the paramedics had to take the handcuffs off, but she suddenly started acting very bizarre, and they had a hunch she was having a seizure. God, Jesus, God, Jesus, Jesus. Yes. Yes. >> Okay. I'm going to get behind you, and I'm just going to take your cuff off real quick, okay? It's probably going to hurt for a second. I'll see which one's easier. All right, let me see this one. It's going to hurt. Ma'am, what's wrong? Are you having a seizure or are you actually in pain? I'm in pain. Okay, well, sit down. I'm taking a seizure right now. I want to see what's on your arm, okay? Perhaps the initial traffic accident was not the woman's fault, but instead of resolving her grievance with the elderly man, she did something even dumber and disobeyed the police. That mistake landed her in jail, and she was charged with battery on law enforcement and resisting arrest. On the 24th of April, 2024, in Santa Rosa County, the cops pulled over an SUV for not stopping completely at a stop sign. The driver disagreed with the officer, and at that point, the officer thought he smelled something familiar. Hello. Hi. Uh don't let your dog jump out in that in that traffic. It makes me nervous with that window down. Uh I'm Deputy Moore. The reason I pulled you over is because at that stop sign uh at Hamilton Bridge and Glover, you didn't stop all the way. Oh, yes, I did because another car was going through at the same time. And then after you passed through there, you're going a little bit a little bit a little bit over the speed limit, okay? So, that's the only reason why I'm stopping All right, Mom, turn on Life360. He's trying to tell me I just got >> Do you have your driver's license, registration, proof of insurance, please? He's trying to tell me that I didn't stop at the uh the Hamilton Bridge um uh stop sign, which I did cuz he said >> all these things hanging from your mirror here that are not like your beads and whatnot, those got to come down as well. Yeah, they said I didn't stop at the stop sign when there was two cars going through right before me. They said that um I was going too fast, so pull up with there's Life360. I have to where uh shows the speed limit. Yeah. The officer asked the woman, Josie Lynn Scott, to hang tight while he checked her info. He even notified the woman that despite all of the infractions, he probably wouldn't even be writing her a ticket, but he was probably trying to keep her calm because it looked like the cop had a different agenda. Uh probably not going to write you a ticket or anything, so I know you're a little bit upset about the speed, but >> Sorry, I just I get nervous cops. I don't know why. I always Well, I don't know about your history with cops. That's none of my business, but you and I never met, so >> get it. That's not my problem. That's all my problem. I I promise you I'm very fair. It's It's already figured out, period. Okay. All right, well, I'll be cool with me I'll be cool with me as long as you're cool. Yes, sir. >> I'll be cool with you you're cool with me, all right? All right, give me a couple minutes. I'll try to get you out of here as quickly as I can, all right? >> thank you. >> She's got a little tiny dog, a little yapper. Would you mind just asking her to step out? Yeah. And then I'm going to run my dog around the car. The cop had a hunch there were drugs in the vehicle, but he was concerned the woman's dog might react to the canine and even jump out on the road and cause a crash. It was a liability, but he wanted to make sure about everyone's safety. Josie, however, didn't see it that way. Uh-uh, no, sorry. >> Hello, um we're going to have you step out. Um we're going to walk back here, but you're going to obviously need to hang on to your dog. He's got his side I'm stepping out. Um he I'm I'm telling you to step out of the vehicle, okay? >> tell me to step out all you want, but Okay. I'm not stepping out. Okay, cuz he's going to run his dog around your car. Why? Because he's allowed to. You can't just pull somebody over for Ma'am, he was right behind me Ma'am. Ma'am, listen. I'm asking you Okay. Call the attorney right now. Okay, ma'am, let's go. Call the attorney right now. You don't just open car doors. I know my rights. Mom You're opening up the car door. She's refusing to get out, so You can't come to me for a traffic stop, and then you're going to sit here and be all over me. I'm not all over you. I'm asking you to get out of You are. You just opened up my door for no apparent reason. Listen very carefully, okay? Get out of the car the next thing you do or you're under arrest, period. You hear this, Mom? The two cops here were as clear as they could be, but she kept talking to her mother as if somehow she could make the cops go away. At that point, the cops gave her one more chance to comply. Last chance. You get here right now and call the cops. You're under arrest. Excuse me, do not touch you ain't GOING TO ME. YOU'RE under arrest. You're under arrest, back up. >> Mom I want a supervisor RIGHT NOW. DO NOT DO NOT grab me. I will sue your I want a supervisor right now. I want a supervisor. Put your dog down. I want a supervisor right now. >> dog down. YOU LIKE GOING WITH ME. OH MY GOD. MOM I I'M SO STUPID AND YOU'RE NOT. I'M SO STUPID. >> OUT OF THE CAR. GIVE me her hand. Give me your other hand. I have a dislocated Give me your other hand. dislocated ribs out. If you give me five minutes, Jesus Christ. >> minute, sweetie. No, you just opened up my door for no reason, dear. Put your hands right there. Just relax. Mom Relax. Call the sheriff. In a situation like this one, it was strange to see a grown woman asking for help from her mom. She was acting like a child expecting her mother to step in and magically resolve things, but all she was really doing was acting ridiculous. See, this is ridiculous. Oh my god. Are you serious? You're going to use your weight on my back? Nobody's got weight on your back. >> I'm not getting on anybody. All right, we're going to help you up. We're on your side. We're on your side. Can you give me a second, please, here? All right, ready? One, two, three. I'm getting my phone. No, you're not. Yes, I am. I You're under arrest. Walk. Jesus Christ. We're done with you. I'm done with you. Okay, all this is being recorded. Is your camera on? Yes, it is. Is it all on? Yeah, that one is. This one is. All these cameras are on. I need you to spread your legs. Lean forward onto the car. I can't. Yes, you can. Lean forward. What do you have? Dislocated ribs. You cannot bend forward here. I have elderly mother >> on you that's going to poke or stick No. As if being dragged out of her car, thrown to the ground, and getting handcuffed wasn't enough, she then decided she wanted to argue some more, but despite her resistance, she was thoroughly searched. She going to go in your car? Okay. Is he Is he okay in there with him? Yeah, he's not going The dog's not going in the car. Okay. Can you I know. Can you please feed the dog with my shoulder? I'm just making sure you're not falling out of the car, that's all. >> Here's I Is that dislocated? I haven't No, I haven't touched them. I don't know why they're being so rough with me. I don't know why he's not being rough. He just grabbed the tripod on my wrist here. Can you just understand Anything that you have on you that you haven't disclosed that you take into the jail is going to be another charge. You understand that? >> No, he's grabbing me. Okay, I'm just making sure. Giving you the opportunity now. Get my hair out of my face. As they searched the woman, the cop who pulled her over took out the canine unit and started inspecting the vehicle. If you're paying close attention, you can hear her dog barking inside. All right, come on. It turned out the officer's instincts were on point. The canine unit signaled something, and after a more thorough search, it turned out it was marijuana. Josie was charged with drug possession and faced a $5,000 fine and up to 6 months in jail. On the 1st of May, 2024, an officer tried to pull a vehicle over for expired tags. The driver ignored the officer and kept on driving, but she then did something a whole lot worse. Ma'am, we're Orleans and McComb Lake. I got a car that's trying to flee from me. It just crashed out. I'm popping a U-ey here. What's going on? That's North Bound on Orleans and McComb Lake Road. It's going to be a single female driver. Can you get me 28 seconds? I'm going to run her tag. It's just now turning West Bound on McComb Lake Road. It's black. At that point, the officer turned his sirens on, and the chase was on. While it's hard to make out in the footage, the officer notified dispatch that she lost her right tire when she crashed. Still though, she kept on going. West Bound on McComb Lake Road passing Lake McComb Road. She's driving pretty She did crash out on the She's lost her right tire actually right now. There's no traffic. Roadway's a little clear. 10-50 she just hit a telephone pole. The cop had a hunch that pretty soon she would crash the car due to that blown tire. However, he probably didn't expect the fireworks that came with it. Believing the suspect had jumped out of the vehicle and made a run for it, he pursued them on foot. Hey sheriff's OFFICE, BETTER STOP. PUT YOUR HANDS UP. PUT YOUR HANDS UP NOW. PUT YOUR HANDS UP. COME TO ME. PUT YOUR HANDS UP NOW. Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. All right. 3 out of 10. Hold there. I got one at gunpoint. Just north of my squad. Hands up. Hands up. All the way up. Stop right there. Is anyone else in the car? Okay. What's your name? What's your name? Courtney, take a deep breath. Is that just a phone in your hand? Okay. Are you okay? Are you hurt at all? Are you hurt? Keep your hands up. Keep your hands up. Step towards me. Step towards me. Start walking forward. All right. 3 out of 10. She's cooperative right now. The suspect here, Courtney, was wincing in pain as she slowly approached. Having caught up with her, he let dispatch know where he was. What's really remarkable here is that she survived such a crash and made a run for it, but that wasn't even the half of it. >> [laughter] >> She's saying she's the only occupant? You can roll an ambulance to her. She said she got some injuries. Stay right there. Stay right there. You got enough time to light a cigarette or what? Okay, stop. Just relax. Keep your hands up. Okay, drop your phone. Stay right there. We're going to get you some help, okay? And there was no one else in the car with you? >> [laughter] >> You just hold on her. Actually, yeah. I'll hold on her. You just cover up. Okay. We'll get you some help. It's funny how with all the pain she was going through, she kept that cigarette in her mouth, which she shouldn't have been smoking in the first place if she really was pregnant.
