people have replaced frightening ships with scooters and eye patches with backpacks they lurk around neighborhoods ready to snatch your most recent Amazon order let's meet some of them please God I'll clearly in a state of panic by the sound of her voice you'd think she's probably being mistreated it's kind of hard to tell her age but she doesn't sound that old she's asking for her mom so she could be a minor why is she on the backseat of a police car all by herself and why is it taking so long for her to get a response well before you start feeling sorry for her let's watch what happened a from what we can tell so far this very dramatic porch pirate stole boxes from people's houses and didn't even have the common courtesy to properly discard the packaging she and her accomplice just threw them into other people's yards after they' taken the goods for themselves I just need to know if I can get a what's going to happen can you guys site me and I get picked up or something we got packages in certain areas I didn't even get so so knowing what you know and knowing what you guys were doing why would you start with such an attitude as soon as this officer tried to pull you over I out you weren't holding a piece of trash in your hands after the police called you out a sealed box all neat and untouched probably with a label on it and it didn't ring any bells and then that's when wasn't her first time visiting this house and she definitely wasn't invited the real owner had captured this next recording with the help of a doorbell camera 2 days prior the robber had already noticed no one was home she arrived looking relaxed picked up the boxes as if she owned them and casually walked away now let's travel back to when she was confronted by the real owner of the house up with a credible reason as to why she was picking up someone else's box truth is couriers from delivery companies don't have any reason to come back to your place to check on the packages they've already delivered most of them hardly have the time to knock at your door to let you know you've received your order in the first place this porch pirates's confidence is also borderline audacious she even claimed she didn't need to provide any explanation for what she did who do you work for I'm not going to tell you that I don't have to tell you nothing you're a thief okay are you going to smile on my face like this I just want you to give me my package back I don't have it no you do cuz I saw you on my porch I don't have them I saw you on my ring on my porch more no no no no by the end of of their awkward interaction the owner probably headed back inside the house to alert the local police the robber never confessed so it's safe to say the packages were never returned if there's any good advice to take away from this video apart from obviously picking up your orders from your door as soon as you can it's the owner's very calm demeanor she definitely didn't buy the whole I work for FedEx line but she kept her cool and simply kept demanding to have her stuff returned in all fairness you'd never know if these porch Pirates Come armed not to mention they can easily become aggressive when caught red-handed so it's best to keep calm no matter how outraged you really are you can't always rely on Brave careers though judging by this next video being a hero wasn't even an option for this delivery person the box was snatched from her hands before she even set foot on the recipient's porch this was while she was completing an order in Richmond Virginia what's even more shocking was that this happened in broad daylight in what seems to be a pretty respectable neighborhood the woman didn't even try running after the thief she clearly knew she didn't stand a chance the culprit had conveniently parked very close to the house that way he could make a quick Escape The Courier had no other choice but to let the owner know that their package had been stolen hi is someone home yes can you come please I iage someone just just stole it a Woman Soon came out of the house and confirmed with her husband on the phone that the Box did in fact belong to them not only that but it also contained a pretty expensive purchase an iPhone worth $1,600 that's my package that's my my my my iPad yeah you ordering an iPad yeah from Verizon yeah I'm sorry it's usually usually it's like a phone or something that they follow us for this case was so outrageous that it was soon taken over by a lot of media Outlet and presented all over the news when speaking to reporters the owner mentioned she had other packages waiting to be picked up at the front door but for some reason they weren't as appealing to criminals as the iPad I mean sure it figures but how is it that porch Pirates can tell what's inside your package by just looking at it in fact there are multiple ways they can either look at the box and see if there are any well-known expensive Brands labeled on the outside or they can do something that's even more simple parked right there I I'm parked right there I was he met me at my clu and said something and I said I have a package for there I have to have someone there sign it and so he he walked with me all the way to here then grabbed it out of my hand car and off if a package needs a signature for it to be safely delivered it either has an age requirement or it's presumed to have a high value when sending out expensive Electronics most manufacturers mention the price of their goods in case something happens during the delivery related to the transportation company they'll know how much money they're owed this porch pirate probably had this piece of valuable information before stealing the box and I'm hoping you got it on your ring doorbell the homeowner does what she can to offer comfort you want to come in no I'm good I appreciate it I just wanted to let you know I just watch he takes it he sells it and takes it to his white BMW and I'm running back to my car to get my phone The Courier was pretty shaken up after the experience and for good reason reason this probably wasn't this thief's first rodeo by walking calmly side by side with the woman as she was delivering the package he misled her into thinking that maybe he was in fact the owner of the house and likewise the owner of the box there was nothing in his behavior that could have indicated he was up to no good these videos clearly show that porch Pirates are lurking everywhere these days but if you're a fan of online shopping there are ways you can protect yourself from having your belongings taken away before you even get a chance to review them set up a security camera even if something goes wrong you'll have proof it's not just in your imagination also ask a neighbor to pick up your boxes if you're not at home motion detection lights might help too once those lights pop up in your yard it just might scare the thieves away
