Would you like to continue and take it to where you're going? >> I mean, you got to consider the trouble that you're looking at, though. >> You cannot do it >> in the car. >> Throw me in there like >> Yeah, exactly. Yeah. You go ahead. Just like that. Just like that. >> Just like that. >> Get out. I CAN SEE YOU. YOU'RE GOING TO GET BIT BY A DOG. GET UP. GET UP. [screaming] >> GET UP NOW. >> GET UP. >> I DON'T WANT TO MOVE. I DON'T want to fight. Get up. >> When there's something more at play than a routine traffic stop, a good cop knows it. From millions of dollars worth of co to thousands worth of f, these are some of the most expensive drug busts caught on body cam. Smell that loose. See what it is. >> I'm going to cuff him up. I can feel it. On the 2nd of November 2022, near the city of Columbus, the Ohio State Patrol pulled a truck over for driving erratically. They went to have a word with the driver, a man later identified as Sebastian Flores, and it quickly became clear that things were not what they seemed. >> How are you today? Um, just have to notice when you change lanes behind that semi, you're probably less than a car length away when you start to make that lane change, just a little bit too uh, you know, too close. Um, you probably couldn't fit one of these trucks between you when you're when you're making the lane change. Where you coming from? >> Uh, Phoenix. >> Phoenix. Uh, where you trying to get to? >> Uh, >> Columbus. What's What's in Columbus? >> Huh? >> What What takes you to Columbus? >> Oh, the new uh, open. >> New what? Job offer. >> A job offer. Okay. What type of work you doing? >> Construction and truck driver. >> You have your license with you? >> Yeah, I don't I am right here. [snorts] >> Are you >> What type of truck do you drive? >> Uh >> semi. >> Yeah, from Mexico. >> What is it from? Where? Are your license from Mexico? >> Yeah, it's >> Yeah, I know. It's still it's still good here. Uh uh you got a house already set up or apartment or? No, I'm I'm going to a hotel and then we're going to meet a friend later and then I'm going to find >> What type of What were you were you going to get a job at? Do you have a specific place? >> No, my friend is working in like it's construction and I think they move rocks or something. >> Sebastian seemed nervous and his answer seemed vague, instantly raising the cop's suspicion. After a quick discussion with his partner, the officer decided to investigate further. So, they led Sebastian out of the vehicle and deployed a K-9. >> I'm just going to write you a warning. Okay. >> Are you uh you working for a truck company right now? >> Uh you currently are you currently a driver? >> No, no. >> Okay. >> Um I'm just going to write you a warning, but you got to make sure you stay give yourself more room before you make that lane change. Okay. Have you ever worked for a trucking company or do you just have a commercial license? >> DSL rollers. >> Okay. >> DSL rollers. >> Yeah. >> Huh. >> Yes. After the canine unit went to work, it hit on something, letting the cops know there was something suspicious. The next step, of course, was to search the inside. Sebastian seemed surprisingly calm about it, but he did want to know just why they were searching him. >> We're going to search the truck. Okay, no concerns at all. >> What is uh what? Well, this is why when I'm up here talking to you, I stopped you for a violation. Okay. >> All right. Yeah. >> And you you you're making this long trip, but it sounds like you really don't have any plans. You know what I mean? It's when we we come across that out here on the road, we we raise the suspicion. Like I'm like, do you have a place you want to stay? No. You're going to be some you have a job lined up? No. It's just you're very bad. Which if that's your choice, you don't you don't tell me. Don't tell me. But just if I if I get some suspicion, then yeah, I'm going to look a little further. >> The man confirmed he didn't have any weapons on him and cooperated as they patted him down. He was then asked to sit in [music] the back of the squad car and he cooperated again, leaving the cops free to conduct a thorough search of the truck and its contents. And this here I thought was kind of suspicious. like you're you're going for an instructor on the job, but you put all that on there while you tell me your story. It's just kind of >> construction construction stuff. Maybe >> he asked me why. I said, "Well, you're making this long trip, but you don't have really any no finalized plans. Like, you're it's just you're very vague. Maybe that's just how you operate, but I don't know. It's suspicious to me." By the driver's seat, one of the cops found a wad of cash inside a bag, and he handed the money to Sebastian to keep a hold of. Then it was time to search the back of the truck, and what they found there raised suspicion even more. >> He doesn't care. >> You're 100% right. >> Huh? They're glued together. What is it? It feels like it opened. It's definitely been filled in smell negative. Brack. >> Yeah. >> The cops photographed everything as they searched, making sure to have photographic evidence both before the search and after. It then came time to open up the hollow wooden boards. And when they looked inside, there was a shocking discovery. >> [cough] [clears throat] >> Try not to destroy too much. [screaming] Smell that loot. See what it is. I'm going to cut them up. I can feel it. Look at all this. Take there's 13 of these boards. So should be a lot. >> Inside they found several wrapped packages of what was clearly co. And given the number of hollow boards they'd found, they knew the bust was substantial and it was time to arrest the man. Hands behind you under arrest. Lean forward. >> What's that? >> Uh, you're under arrest right now. Okay. We have some suspicion is illegal narcotics in the back. Uh, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court. You have the right to talk to a lawyer for advice before we ask you any questions and they have pressed you during questioning. If you can't afford an attorney, want to be appointed for you prior to any question if you so desire. Do you understand that? >> Yeah. Can you say yes or no? >> Yes. >> Okay. Step out here. I want I'm going to search you real quick. >> The estimated street value was $10 million. However, it seemed doubtful Sebastian was the mastermind here. So, the officers asked him if he'd complete his journey and help them track down the people he was working with. However, it wasn't that simple. >> Sebastian, you seem like you're not very concerned about this situation. You seem like you're pretty calm. Are you concerned at all about what you have in the back? I mean, you you found yourself into in a serious legal problem here. Okay. How many kilos are back there? >> What's that? >> You just know there's something back there you're taking somewhere. Um would you would you like to continue and take it to where you're going? >> I mean, you got to consider the trouble that you're looking at though. >> I can. >> You cannot do it. >> Okay. We'll talk about it here in just a minute. One thing was clear, Sebastian feared his associates more than he feared the law, which meant striking a deal was out of the question. They charged the man with possession of 100 kilos of coke or 220 lb, and he faced 11 years in prison and a fine of $20,000. The next suspect came to the cop's attention over a seat belt violation, later identified as Teddy Lopez. He was stopped on March 27th, 2025 by a Cranston PD officer. And what started as a routine traffic stop soon turned out to be a discovery of a lifetime and most likely the defining moment of the officer's career. >> Just roll this down, bro. >> I wanted you to pull the right. That's all. >> Okay, sounds good. It's all right. We're here now. It's all set. Okay. Just got to wear your seat belt the right way. Okay. >> Sorry about that. >> Registration. >> Uh, yes. >> This is my uh business rental. Okay. I don't want that. I want the rental agreement. >> That's the registration. So, are you on the rental agreement? >> Yeah. I should be an authorized maybe. >> Is there any way you guys can switch it up with the plate? >> I got into an accident. >> Doesn't work that way. >> It doesn't work that way. No. The first red flag was Teddy's failure to produce the rental agreement. After asking the man to exit the vehicle, there was surprising resistance. It only made the cop more suspicious, and he wasn't taking no for an answer. >> Okay. The United States Supreme Court allows me to ask you to get out of the car. >> All right. >> So, before you search up, I usually get like a kind of before you search up my name. >> Okay. >> I put incarcerated same name as me. >> Okay. So it's they usually get me confused. >> Yeah, I got you. >> That's all I want. >> It happens. Okay. Um >> I usually get pulled out a lot and I know they usually confuse me for him. >> I've never met you. I have no clue who you are or your brother. >> Appreciate it. >> I don't care. >> After his failed attempt to deflect the blame on his brother, the cop asked him where he was heading and Teddy replied that he was in route to a Firestone to get an oil change and fix one of his tires that had nails in it. Next [music] up, the cop had some more serious questions. Now lodge >> I mean I smoke but >> yeah no big deal. >> No lo in the car. Okay. Um no unprescribed medications. >> No. >> What's in the is it all medical in the trash bag in the back? >> But there probably like >> are they empty or full? >> Well a lot of the boxes are empty but there's like >> there's like a thousand of them in there. >> No. >> Trash bag's full. So no big deal. >> Not a thousand. >> I mean there's a lot. It's full. So >> I pretty I like >> Yeah. That's cool. Okay. >> I don't do nothing else. Yeah. Yeah. I got you. Anything pat you down? Put your hands in the car. >> Um, so you're not you've never been in trouble? >> No. >> Spread your legs a little wide for me. >> Nothing in between your legs? >> Nothing. >> No, it's your legs. >> How come your brother's not getting me? I mean, your cousin's not getting all that [ __ ] >> Yeah, me to do him a favor. >> Okay. After completing his search, the officer asked the man to sit in the back of his vehicle and explained to him that he was only being detained and that he wasn't under arrest. The cop then gave Teddy a chance to be honest about what he had in the car. >> All right, listen. I I've been doing this a long time. All right. All I look for is >> So, if you're forthcoming with me, I'm going to be cool with you. I'm just telling you my I'm telling you my side. All right. Understand? >> So, obviously, I have a job to do. All right? And I'm good at my job. All right? You're displaying a lot of things to me that make me very suspicious. No, >> I totally understand. >> All right. So, this is kind of your last opportunity. If there's anything small in that car, I I honestly I don't care about small amounts of any drugs. >> I'm going to be completely honest with you. Just a little. >> Not that much. >> What's a little bit? >> Probably like literally just 2 oz. >> It's just in boxes. So, it looks a lot. >> Yeah. I got you. All right. Just hang that phone. >> And I have um my cell phones in there, but >> Yeah. How many phones, guys? So, >> there's probably like But a lot of those are not even like, you know what I'm saying? A lot of them are. >> All right. Just hang that photo. Appreciate it. >> The officer then went on to conduct a thorough search of the vehicle. Given the man's suspicious behavior, it really wasn't surprising when he found 2 ounces of And clearly, it wasn't just for Teddy's personal use. All right. >> [clears throat] >> obviously selling it. The sheer amount of here and the wads of cash were bad enough, but the real shock was still to come. Surprisingly, it was concealed pretty well. And it wasn't until the officer moved to the very back seats of the car that he noticed something that didn't seem right. That don't look normal. >> Oh my god. >> Good. >> Want to talk to me? >> For what? >> It's behind a couple of them. >> Behind a couple of them. >> The back seat. As far as Teddy went, it appeared he was denying any knowledge of the hidden compartment. However, the cop wasn't letting this go. He called for backup, including a canine unit, and sure enough, the dog alerted the cops to narcotics. So, the officer showed his colleagues what he'd found. >> Yep. [clears throat] >> Look in here. Shake. >> This is what >> you kept coming back. >> Look right here. I got it. Look to your Look this way and then over. >> Look, it's all cut out. It's not normal. >> See it? >> There's two over here, too. So, dude, I get up to the car. Yeah, I'm fine. Which is fine. I want It's fine. So, I see in a jar. So, I lick it up and I was like, that's not normal. He's got the He's got the right here to mask the odor of the Yep. >> He's got the air blaster camera. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, that's good. >> As it turns out, it was hard for the cops to remove the altered cup holder with just their bare hands. So, they got a multi-tool out and used it to cut away the top of the compartment. The lead officer was excited, of course, and his suspicions were soon confirmed. I think I just pulled your multi tool. [laughter] >> It's worth it. >> Yeah, [clears throat] >> just leave them all right here for now. >> Ready to cons? >> Yeah, >> that could be anything. could be. >> Oh my goodness gracious. >> This is insane. >> Holy. They coming. Keep coming, baby. Keep coming. Holy. Hang on. >> Can [laughter] I see the flashlight? call who? >> All right, this whole fenders got cuz this whole fender is loaded. >> They finished pulling the blocks out of what was clearly and placed them on the car hood. Inside that compartment, there was a surprising amount concealed and the officer knew that he'd made the bust of his career. >> Let me out. >> G5. Oh, this car is >> now7. This got to be 10, right? >> It's got to be. >> Yeah. Let's just put that. Oh, this has to stay right there. That's the money shot. That's the money shot. That's everything I've worked for. All right. Back. All right. You're under arrest. >> By the time the search wrapped up, they'd seized 11 kg of coke along with lots of and the wads of cash. In bulk, the drugs were worth an estimated 385,000 with a street value of 1.1 million. Teddy was charged with multiple felonies related to drug trafficking. On the 10th of April 2025 in Bernal Leo County, a deputy saw a speeding car while patrolling for stolen vehicles. To help track it down, he called air support, but shockingly, the two suspects rammed their car into him before running into an apartment complex. >> So, northbound, northbound around the building. >> Got one eastbound behind the building. The other one's still northbound. Now, eastbound parallel Montgomery. Show me your hands. They're running northeast. Northeast second floor. I see your hands. >> He raced after the suspects. And when he tried to stop them and get them to show him their hands, they ignored his instructions. And with so many twists and turns around the buildings, they were successfully evading him. Fortunately, a bystander stepped in. I got his hand. >> Let me see your hands here, guys. >> Don't move. >> You guys have to hit the one side of the complex. >> He's going west again. Back north. Where that unit is? >> It's on the west side towards that unit. Stop coming out to the north. >> Get in the mail. >> Come here. >> Yeah. >> With the first suspect pinned and handcuffed, the cops got a second to catch their breath before taking him to the vehicle. The lead deputy asked for his name, but he refused to answer. And then came the tired old act that the cops had seen over and over. >> All right, dude. What's your name? >> What's your name? >> Yo, what? >> All right, we're going to figure it out either way, bro. It just helps out. I can't breathe. >> I can't breathe either. >> How much you can >> Oh, here we go. Here we go. This woman car, dude. You just want me to shut up. Hey, look. >> She's got some >> What's up? >> I don't know if she might be a good You should have >> You got anything on you? You sure have been able? >> Yeah, he's too too tired to give his name. He'll lay down on the ground like a little fool. Hold that. >> It's one of those. >> They searched the man and found a watt of cash on him. When asked if he had a bag, he indicated no. And when it came to the question of whether he had ID on him, he again refused to answer. >> What's your name, bro? >> You don't know? Why don't you know? >> Oh, you got to identify yourself. You can play the f anything else, but you have to identify yourself. >> You're going to identify, >> huh? You're going to identify regardless. >> Well, yeah, bro, but I have to do it right now. I don't want to have to take you somewhere else. Get you fingerprinted, bro. That's a pain. >> And you can get additional charge for not identifying yourself. >> Why? I'm just not saying it. You have to ID yourself, though. >> You have to, bro. >> Look. Yeah, you do. Look, this is the way it works. You have to do yourself cuz you are being arrested. Okay. Your current charges resisting and possession. Those are current charges. If you don't identify yourself, there's an additional charge that's called concealing identity. >> It seemed the deputy had gotten through to him because he finally identified himself as Luis Flores. Meanwhile, the second suspect had also been chased down and taken into custody. But that guy would prove just as uncooperative from the very start. for him. The one inside. >> Oh, get this buddy, too. >> Call it out, boy. >> Hello, dude. Looks like one. >> Okay, you're going to go. >> Oh, I got the butter, too. >> What is your name? >> I know you ran a little, but I ran the same. They put the second man in the squad car, too. And he at last became cooperative and gave his name when asked. However, when they asked him about his age, something wasn't adding up. >> What's your name, man? >> Miguel. >> Huh? >> Miguel. >> What is it? >> Miguel. >> Miguel. Calm down, dude. Take a rest. What's your last name? Miguel. Felix. >> Felix. It's your birthday. What's your social, bro? >> I don't know. >> How do you not know your social? >> Huh? >> Huh? >> How do you not know your social? 24 years old. >> No. >> How old are you? >> I said all >> Oh, how old are you? >> 60. >> Why you doing that, dude? Sorry, I'll talk to you in a minute. Right. >> The cops started searching the car and placing evidence in inventory while another cop went to talk to Louise, who'd been driving the speeding vehicle. He was still reluctant to cooperate and kept mumbling his answers to the cop's questions. >> What's going on, dude? Okay. Correct. >> Correct. Can you talk? Can >> I have some water? >> I also got some water in a minute. What's your name, dude? >> I already told you. >> I wasn't here, man. What is your name? >> Flores. >> What is it? >> Luis Fl. >> I can't understand you. >> Less. >> Luis Flores. How old are you, Louis? 21 years old. >> The officer then asked Luis for his date of birth, which again he mumbled and when asked about his social, he claimed he didn't know. The officer then read him his rights and confirmed he understood them before asking Louise about just what had happened. >> Okay, bro. So, just tell me what happened. Why are we here? >> You guys just came and attacked me. >> Who came and attacked you? You guys, >> the cops came and attacked you. >> That's why I'm in handcuffs, right? >> Where were you at? What were you doing? >> Just living breathing nerve, brother. >> Come on, man. Let's be serious. All right. Let's be serious. All right. Can we just do it straight up with each other? >> Why living brother? Listen, listen. Before you keep digging a hole, you chose about the worst spot for all this to go down. You got like four cameras in the front of the store right there. I already watched all the cameras. I know you're driving. I know you ran from my car. So, let's just be legit. All right. >> I don't know what you're talking about. >> No, you don't want to talk about it. >> Give it a f. >> Okay. You don't want to talk about anything? >> I just need some water, bro. >> Do you want to talk to me at all? >> I just need water. I don't have water at all. Do you want to talk to me at all? >> You don't have water. >> You want to go? >> Among the items found in his car, there was a backpack full of blue as well as two cell phones and more cash. Because Luis refused to talk, the officer then went to Miguel, the other suspect, to question him. >> What happened, dude? >> Scared. >> Scared of what? >> He said he was. >> So, what happened, dude? I mean, like, what? Why' you guys bounce out like that? >> But what would you have to be scared of, dude? >> Come on, man. Let's just be straight up. All right. You like you like seven cops chasing you across the road. Ain't nobody, right? You put yourself in more danger than anyone. >> So, let's just be straight up. We got your backpack, bro. Is that your bag or is that your boogies? >> That's a lot of dope, dude. That's a lot of dope. Like, you're going to get some serious trouble for that. You understand? >> This ain't the time to try to be a hero. If it's yours, it's yours. So, okay. It is what it is. But if it's not, dude, you're about to take a ride for some serious charges. >> Miguel refused to say anything else. So, the officer closed his car door and left the man to think about it. The cops then went through the backpack full of and in their estimation they were worth up to $80,000. As for the cash they found, it totaled 30,000. I guess somewhere around00,000 [laughter] 2,000 3,000 >> 10,000,000 14,000 15,000 >> That's That's probably 20. 15,000 out of 10. >> Meanwhile, one of the cops saw Luis spitting through the cage in the lead officer squad car. The cop was less than impressed, especially given the fact that he tried to make Luis comfortable by turning on the air conditioner. As a result of his behavior, they had to wrestle the man into a spit hood. Get your whole ass. >> Will you grab the big hood out of the truck? Got it. >> Ready. >> You're good. You're good. >> You're good. >> Hey, I got all your Look at all your >> Look at y Come on. >> Nobody's going to hit you. Go get a baby. Come here. >> On this side. >> Hey, I'm going to help you. Stand up. Bring your leg in. >> Stand up. >> Stand up. >> Stand up. Throw me like races. You're racing. >> Get [clears throat] in the car. >> Throw me in there like you throw me out. >> Yeah, exactly. Yeah. You mother. Go ahead. Like that. Just like that. Just right there. >> Luis was taken to jail and charged with drug trafficking, criminal damage, child abuse, and aggravated fleeing from law enforcement. As Miguel was underage, they referred the young man to juvenile court. On the 16th of May 2022, a trooper pulled over a White Gia Sportage for a traffic violation. Happily for the trooper, the driver seemed cooperative, quickly identifying himself as Mariano Goldsmith by handing over his ID. Robert, [groaning] >> how you sir? You want back here for me? How you doing today? >> My name is Driver with you while I'm talking to you. They got some big old hands. >> Yeah. [laughter] [screaming] >> Is it [laughter] Mr. Goldmith? I thought two reasons. Okay. Do me a favor and increase your following distance. All right. That truck you were behind. You backed off of it. I'm not catching up with you, but you originally too close. Okay. Give yourself plenty of distance. That way apply their brakes. We give you plenty of time to react. Okay. Work a lot of reps on this road. worst time for me any as you can see we're out today unfortunately that okay also I'm not sure if you're looking back at me you may talking to your passenger there but both of your right tires cross the line just make sure you are okay >> when asked if the vehicle was his he said it was a rental and said it was rented by his passenger a man named Thomas Boswell the officer then went to speak to Thomas and from the information he got from them things weren't adding up >> what's up man >> how you doing good my name is Troo State police do you have your driver's license with you >> sir the reason I'm stopping y'all. And I explained it to him. The truck he was following behind, he's just following it too close. Just wanted just to increase his following distance. >> And also, he crossed over the center. I mean, the fog line. Make sure that y'all are okay. >> Yes, sir. Sir. >> All right, man. Uh, did you rent the car? >> Huh? >> Did you rent the car? >> No, sir. >> Okay. Who rented it? >> Uh, a friend of mine in California. >> Okay. Do you have the rental for it? >> Yeah. >> Everything should do. >> Okay. Good deal. All right, man. Is that where y'all are coming from? >> Yes, sir. Uh, we actually was tested positive for CO. >> Okay. >> And we didn't want to fly back. >> So, I didn't want to get on an airline. And that's >> Okay. Where y'all heading back to now? >> At more, Alabama. >> Thomas continued being agreeable as the trooper went on asking questions about how he knew Mariano and what they'd been doing in California. The trooper then went back to Mariano, who was oddly happy to make small talk and was about to give him a written warning. >> Oh, what kind of firearm that is? >> Uh, it's a 223. >> I'm I'm sorry. I meant the brand. >> Oh, it's a uh JP. >> JP? >> Yes, sir. >> Yeah. I got a precision back home. >> Oh, do you? >> Yes, sir. >> I got you. I got you. >> Oh, nice. You like that sight vortex? >> Oh, yeah. I use the uh I just forgot to name that thing. Uh >> yeah, I'm just going to give you a warning, man. So, >> y'all been out in Texas visiting some friends or what? >> I'm sorry. >> Y'all been out in Texas visiting some friends or what? >> Yeah, we was just riding really. I mean, just got out from Florida. >> Okay, I got you. What part of Florida you from? >> I'm from Pensacola. >> Okay. What did y'all What did y'all do in Texas? >> Well, we actually we went we went to California. >> Okay. >> And we was just up there for a few days just enjoying the recreational state. >> I hear you, man. >> That was my first time. >> Ain't nothing wrong with that. >> It really wasn't what I expected. Like it was just It really seemed like we were still in Florida, honestly. >> Kind of all the same. >> Yeah. So far, most of Mariano's story seemed to be matching what Thomas had said, but there were more contradictions to come. Clearly, they were trying to cover up something, and the trooper suspected that it was a whole lot bigger than traffic violations. >> Now, did y'all drive out there or what? >> We flew and we had we had the the car from the airport and we get to the airport, the car wasn't working, so they wouldn't let us get the car, so we had to wait around and around. And then the lady that uh that drives the shuttle bus helped us out >> pointing us in the right direction. >> So why why didn't y'all just fly back? >> What was that? >> Why didn't y'all just fly back? Just kind of want the sight see or what? >> Yeah, that's it. >> I got a bunch of pictures of all the mountains. >> We was looking at where the wirefires was out there. He had a return flight. His went through. Mine wouldn't go through either. So, I mean, it it kind of worked both ways, I guess. >> As for the officer suspicions, Mariano seemed oblivious. He went on making small talk and answering questions, and the trooper finished up with his warning, handing it over for the man's signature, but apparently the officer wasn't finished investigating. >> I'm going be straight up with you, okay? >> I want to search your car, and here's why. I can smell, but I want to ask for your consent first. Okay? You can you can tell me no. I don't care. But I'm just letting you know that I smell it. Okay? So, if you would please just read this. It's just a consent to search for because I want to search your vehicle. All right? If you agree to let me, you'll just sign right there for me. Okay? But read right there first. All right? Read all this. >> The man read the form he was given but refused to sign it. However, it didn't stop the officer from proceeding with his search as he had probable cause. As you might have guessed, it didn't take long for the officer to uncover what these two were hiding. >> Hey, hold here for me. Put your hands right there. >> You got anything on me that's going to [ __ ] with me? >> Okay. >> Not back there for me. All right. Turn around. Turn around right now. >> All right, listen to me. Okay. >> After being read as Miranda rightites and confirming he understood them, Thomas said he was willing to talk. He claimed he wanted to be truthful and denied smoking weed and repeated his story about testing positive for CO. However, there were more holes in his plot coming up. >> Did it feel like when y'all got it? >> No, sir. I have uh in my black bag in the back seat, I have some carts and that's actually and I bought some in California, but not >> So, you've been around it? >> Yeah, but I I smoked it. >> Okay. I just got your check, buddy. >> It's all good. >> Hey, we're not we're not going to touch him. We'll take pictures. >> And then did you call uh >> I just called out here? >> Yeah, I'm going to take some pictures real quick. All right. >> The troopers discovered more than 29 kg of and it was worth over 2.7 million. Both were convicted of drug trafficking, including possession with the intent to distribute, and were sentenced to 151 months in federal prison. On the 8th of April, 2024, an officer conducted a traffic stop after he saw a driver speeding and drifting across the lines on the road. And what started as concerns over traffic safety and a possible DUI quickly led to a surprising discovery. >> How we doing? >> Hi. >> You have your license with you? >> Yes. Can you go and roll this down a little bit further? >> Can you roll this down further? >> There we go. That way we can just talk better. >> Oh yeah. >> Is this your car? >> Huh? >> Is this your car? >> Whoa. >> No. >> No. >> Okay. Do you have the registration insurance? What happened to your finger, man? >> Huh? >> What happened to your finger? >> Broken. >> Broken? >> Yeah. >> What happened? >> Or my working. Oh, really? >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> After the officer asked him, the suspect said there were no weapons in the vehicle and seemed happy to hand over his insurance documents. But when they asked the man who the vehicle belonged to, he was a bit more reluctant to talk. >> So, this is not your car, you said? >> No, this is my friend. >> What's your friend's name? >> Huh? >> What's your friend's name? >> Uh, Maisio. >> Malisio? >> Yes. >> What's his last name? >> Uh, Solis. >> Solis. >> Yes. Okay. >> Who's uh who's Ismael. >> I don't know. >> You don't know? >> Okay. >> So, hey, there's a couple of reasons I stopped you. One is I had you at 80 mph. It's a 75. Got to be at 75. Okay. Okay. >> The other reason is that you crossed over this solid line and you were driving with your tires over the your your right tire over that line. >> Are you okay? >> Good. >> You tired or? >> You haven't been drinking, have you? >> No. >> No, you're not drunk. Drink it. >> Okay. All right. I'll just give you a written warning. Okay. >> The officer asked the suspect, Jesus, to walk with him over to his vehicle and continued questioning the man while getting the paperwork for the written warning. Jesus claimed he was on his way to New Mexico to work as a roofer, but he still seemed nervous. >> So, it's just a warning. It's not a ticket. Okay. >> Okay. >> How long have you been in doing roofing? >> Six years. >> Huh? >> Six years. >> Six years. >> I need to look at the VIN number. Is it okay if I look on the door? >> Yeah. >> Is that okay? Okay. >> All right. Stay right here. Okay. >> Okay. Say, I got a question for you. >> Yeah. >> Out here on the interstate, part of my job is to look for people that are transporting and hauling illegal stuff. You have anything illegal in your car? >> No. >> Do you have any weapons or explosives in the car? >> No. Not >> any guns? >> Nothing. Not >> any bombs? >> No. For >> Okay. Any bazookas? >> No. No. >> Uh bodies? >> No. >> No. Okay. Do you have any illegal drugs? >> No. >> Any marijuana in the car? >> Only tobacco. >> Huh? Just tobacco? Okay. Um is legal up to an ounce in the state of Arizona. You have any in the car? >> No. >> No. >> The cop continued asking the man if he had anything illegal and worked his way through a list of prohibited drugs. While the man answered no to everything, the officer was still suspicious and asked the man if he could search his vehicle. Surprisingly, he didn't object. >> All right. All right. Just hang tight right here. Okay. >> Yeah. >> All right. This is going to a city 20 minutes into New Mexico to roof. >> Oh. >> [snorts] >> The officer went on to conduct a thorough search of the vehicle, but as he searched the obvious places like the glove box and the suspect's backpack, he didn't find a thing. They checked in the seats and also behind them and found nothing. But the cops still had a hunch that something was off. >> He's saying he's going to be there for 3 to four weeks. That's what he told me. >> I mean, doesn't look like three or [music] four weeks worth of clothes. >> No, but uh you check up under the dash. Um, I haven't looked behind the glove box yet. Got broke gloves and oil on the passenger door. Finally, the officer found a potential hiding place for narcotics. At first glance, there was nothing obvious about the tire, but his instincts told him to investigate further. And as things turned out, the officer was right. >> Look at this tire real quick. >> You want to look at it? Bigger than I want to look at. I'm going to try and ping it. >> [groaning] >> Hey, >> this tire's heavy, so I'm going to walk my dog out real quick. >> I mean, it's a start three months. We didn't know. Well, >> he gave me a different guy than the registration. So, I'm going to get the dog out. >> The officer put a leash on his dog and walked it to the man's car to confirm his suspicions. He was rewarded for his efforts. And of course, Jesus denied doing anything wrong despite the mounting evidence to the contrary. Good boy. Good boy. Good boy. Have you taken that tire down at all? You don't know that tire is very heavy. >> You don't know. Okay. So, my dog is trained to smell the odors of marijuana. >> Okay. >> In fact, and he just alerted to your truck. >> No. >> You have you been around any of that? >> No. >> Smoke any weed or anything? >> Oh, yeah. In the California. >> California. California. >> Okay. Go ahead and detain him real quick. >> Even though he wasn't under arrest yet, they still had to cuff the man and get him in the back of a squad car. Then it was time to inspect the abnormally heavy tire. >> You hear it rolling around in there. >> Let me get Where did I leave my stuff? Here we go. Kind of smart I heard package rocking around there. >> That's a thud, bro. >> Yeah. No. >> No. Here. Listen. Listen. >> You hear it? You hear the >> Yeah. >> Shifted in. >> Oh, I I heard it, bro. >> Given the weight of the tire and the sound of something rolling around inside it, the cops had enough calls to cut into it. One of the cops approached Jesus and asked him for permission, but like his other answers to everything else so far, he remained non-committal. >> Jesus, >> that tire is very heavy. I think there's drugs in it. >> I don't know. >> Can I Can I cut it? >> I don't know. >> Can I cut Can I cut the tire? >> I don't know. >> You don't know if I can cut it or not? >> You're in control of the truck. I'm asking your permission to cut it. >> I think it's loaded. >> This is not my truck. >> It's not your truck? No. Okay. All right, hang tight. >> The lead officer then went back to the suspect's vehicle where his partner had found some cell phones. He decided to cut into the tire and once he'd punctured it, he used an X-ray imaging device to look inside. >> Oh, come on. Maybe it was on. There we go. It's all blurry. Oh yeah. Go back a little bit. There it is. Package. Packages. Yep. Floated. >> Dude, nice stop. Thanks. >> The officer's instincts were right on the money. They discovered [music] 52 pounds of in the truck with an estimated value of $1 million. They charged the suspect with transportation of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of dangerous drugs for sale, and possession of dangerous drugs. As things turned out, he was also in the country illegally. On July 19th, 2022, the cops tried to stop a man later identified as Jarvis Starks for a traffic violation because his plates belonged to another vehicle and he was driving recklessly at up to 90 mph. Do >> you have any other reason besides looking for Winnebago? There was a garbage bag just south of Johnson on the shoulder side inside a paper bag. Continuing southbound approaching >> military. 41. >> Jarvis had thrown a bag in the road and the deputy retrieved it while his colleagues continued the chase. The pursuit, however, was getting more and more dangerous as Jarvis was throwing things out the window and driving his vehicle at up to 130 mph. Some sort of accident seemed inevitable. >> 1050 1050 over. >> He is still going. He is on the frontage truck by the railroad tracks. 58 foot bail by the railroad tracks and the frontage road. You're the caric empty. All units, we need a perimeter. Set it up by the quad entrance. Also, we'll take it at 175 and 49 as well as the frontage road on 49. After radioing in to set up a perimeter, a canine unit was brought in to help find where Jarvis had gone. Not long after, the dog found his hiding place, and he was spotted in the grass moments later. >> Mike, he's in the tall grass. Get out of THE TALL [screaming] GRASS. GET OUT. Get out of the tall grass. [screaming] >> I can hear him moving around. Get over here. >> Get over here. You get out. I can see you. YOU'RE GOING TO GET BIT BY A DOG. GET UP. >> GET UP. [screaming] >> GET UP NOW. >> GET UP. >> I DON'T WANT TO MOVE. >> I DON'T want to fight. >> Get out. Get on the ground now. Dude, >> you're going to get bit right now. >> You're going to get bit. >> I will get on the ground right now. >> I'm not going into this shop. >> I'm sorry. My name is Jarvis St. My name is in my wallet. You hear me? My wallet is in my pocket, sir. I don't want no problem with y'all over here. >> You should have stopped them anyway. >> While handcuffing Jarvis, they noticed cuts on his arm, so he'd have to be checked by Maddox. After confirming he didn't have weapons on him, he went back to his babbling about being scared of police. >> You know my name. Can I know your name, officer? >> What's that? >> My name Can I know your name? My name is Jarvis Starks, sir. >> Jarvis Starks? >> Yes, sir. >> My wallet in >> Are you from California or Wisconsin? I'm from Wisconsin originally, but I live in California. >> I came to visit. Y'all scared the out of me, bro. I ain't going to lie. >> I was scared. >> All those drugs you have in the car you're throwing out. >> I don't have nothing. >> Yeah, we found we found them all, man. >> I didn't have no drugs. >> Yeah, we found it. >> Nothing at all. >> Going to wait to run till we get back in the squad. >> How y'all doing today? >> Good. >> Good. >> Y'all scared the out of me. I ain't going to lie. Y'all scared me. >> All right, we're going to get you up. >> All right, big dog. I'm not doing no resistance. I got money in this other pocket. The left pocket. That's it. >> That's it. >> Got you. >> Y'all do y'all job. I do what I'm supposed to do. I ain't did nothing wrong. Y'all scared the out of me though. He was throwing stuff out. >> No, I didn't throw nothing out, >> dude. Come on, man. >> Not in the mood to play games. >> I didn't throw nothing out. >> Yeah, >> for sure. I didn't throw nothing out. >> A lot of cameras. >> I watched you come out the window. >> That's all I got is cameras. >> Well, that's why we got cameras. Yep. You're right. >> That's it. >> He went on to thank the cops for not beating him up. They tried asking the man if he was okay, but he seemed more concerned about police brutality than any injuries he might have and continued to express his gratitude that he wasn't hurt by police. >> I don't care about nothing else, sir. >> Y'all didn't beat my Thank you. >> You guys got transfer. >> Hey, can I tell y'all that you stay right there? >> Yeah. >> You dropped your shirts, man. >> No, I didn't have no shirts. >> Oh, that's right. It's drugs in here. That's why. >> That's not fun. >> Weird. Yeah, man. We saw it get thrown out the window. >> That's not mine. >> It's too late now, man. >> I had nothing. >> All right. >> Not at all. >> Okay. >> It didn't come out of my car. >> Hey, do you mind if we put them in the back of yours for right now? >> Yeah, that's me. >> Thanks. >> All right. Amazing for not beating my >> Well, why would we do that? >> That's what police do, folks. >> Okay, but we don't do that, >> sir. And that's all I'm saying besides everything else. I just simply want to thank you for not beating my in the middle of the truck. >> Yeah, we ain't going to do that to you, man. >> That's what, >> As we said before, the man kept repeating the same things, saying he was grateful to the officers over the fact they hadn't beaten him. It took the cops a few tries to get him to listen, but they finally got through to him and got some answers from him about whether he was injured or not. >> So, where else are you hurt? Okay, cuz like I said, I thought you rolled your vehicle. >> My leg I feel like it's it's up. That's about it, bro. Okay. But what do you mean? It's >> What's that? >> I don't know. I feel like it's bleeding a little bit. That's it. >> Okay. Gotcha. But you don't feel like it's broken or anything like that? >> Hey, y'all amazing, bro. For >> Okay. >> I don't think y'all get how happy I am right now for all of these Excuse me. Can I come here? I ain't know no funny. >> You know how close you were to getting bit? >> Listen. Can I tell y'all this? Listen. in the middle of Wisconsin for all of these white officers to arrest me for and not to be back. Listen, listen, man. I'm not going to listen to it right now. You let us on a car chase. You people had drugs. I'm not going to listen to >> All I'm going to do is go ahead. >> The cops then began to examine the evidence and search the man's car. Inside the bag he'd thrown out, there were baggies inside containing about 2500 p. The rocks counter glass and were laced with and weighed almost 300 g. Also, there were three bags of coke totaling 84 g and altogether the estimated value was about 80 grand. >> 230s like that. >> That's a dude. >> I was going to go into that turn around that you were in and then I'm like I'll go one north just [laughter] in case. Ah, dude. That's good stuff, man. I don't know what's in this. Oh, that's just a packaging. >> Yep. Yep. I agree. >> Oh, good job, dude. >> He threw out two bags, just so you know. >> What did he throw at B? >> Two. Uh, I don't know what he threw at me. He was throwing stuff. >> It was like a small little ziplo looking thing. >> Uh, what? 77. >> Uhoh. [music and bell] >> Loaded. >> Yeah. >> One in the chamber. >> One in the chamber. Beautiful. >> Medics arrived to check on Jarvis. They helped him out of the car and back onto his feet and he did seem to be injured as he was acting like he was in pain and complaining about his toes. He then came out with a surprising request. >> Hey, car guys in the back seat here. Oh, shocker. >> All right, man. Ambulance is here. You want him to check you out? >> Yeah. Okay. All right. >> You want to be going after? >> I didn't know if school cops carry belts anymore or not. >> Yeah. >> Your foot. >> It's the left foot. I feel like the toes might be broke. Oh, >> can I piss with this left shoe off? >> You can you can go with no shoes if you don't want shoes on. >> We just got to put your hands in front of you. Okay, >> that's fine. >> Do I have to? I could do it like this if you want to. I ain't going to lie. I don't >> Well, that's fine. >> That's fine. That's fine if you can. >> I'm not going to help you, though. >> The man got a slew of charges including first degree recklessly endangering safety, two counts of fleeing eluding, a felony count of possession with intent for and also a count of possession with intent cotton. He was also charged with misdemeanor counts of resisting an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia. His cash bond was set at a4 million. It was the 16th of June 2023 when two suspects, a male and a female, were pulled over for a traffic violation. Their stories were inconsistent, and having enough probable cause, the cop let his canine sniff around the vehicle me. >> Ready? Okay. 1915 positive K9 alert. The next step for the officer was to question the suspects again. If there were drugs in the car, it was a chance to be truthful and make things easier on themselves, but instead they just made the officer even more suspicious. What's going on Sheriff's Office? So my dog trained alert to five oers. Okay. mean it deposible to your vehicle. Is there any of those five oders in the vehicle? >> No. >> No one smokes any of that. >> I actually have um >> Oh, okay. >> Little pack. >> Okay. I'm not worried about little package. You guys have anything else in the vehicle? >> No. >> Does anyone smoke any other drugs? >> I mean, you guys haven't given any rides to anybody that uses any of those? >> Um, >> no. I know. I mean, the part of before we got it, but that was a few days ago. Okay. So, when you just got the car? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. So, the state of Arizona positive counter gives us probable cause of searching vehicles. So, we're going to be searching the vehicle. Having said that, I'm giving you one last opportunity to tell me if I'm going to find anything other than a small amount in the vehicle. >> Nope. All right. Hang out with this officer right here. Okay. >> The officer then conducted his search of the vehicle and found something suspicious in the woman's purse almost immediately. But when he started to walk back over to question the couple, that's when things took a serious turn. I got foils. Nothing in it, but you don't smoke out of a foil. Pursuit. [ __ ] YOU. GO FOR 10KS. >> STOP. >> STOP, MA'AM. >> OKAY. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. >> Change your point. >> He told me to run. He told me to run. >> Put your hands behind your back now. I'm >> 168 668 still on a foot pursuit heading down Navajo. I don't know anything that's going on. [sighs and gasps] >> Sir, could you please talk to me? >> Yeah, you're under arrest. >> I know I am. What's going on? >> You had drugs in your purse. That's what's going on. >> The woman kept acting like she had no idea what was going on. She denied having drugs in her purse, saying she'd been set up and the drugs had been placed there after she'd fallen asleep. The cop, however, was in no mood for games. >> Stop. Stop. >> Hey, >> stop. Are you serious? >> I'm sorry. >> Are you serious? >> I'm about to fall, dude. I can't do this. >> Stop. >> Okay. Let me get up. Please. >> Get up. Get up. >> Okay. Hold on. I need my hand. Please. I'm not going to run. >> What do you mean you're not going to run? You just ran. >> Stand up off to your left. >> The woman finally got up and started walking again. And with the help of the officer, they started moving toward the squad car. As they got near it, she tried to apologize to him, saying it was the man's idea to run. And she continued acting oblivious. That being said, there was evidence in her pockets that clearly suggested otherwise. >> You have anything on you that's going to poke me, sick me? I don't have pockets. What do you mean you don't have anything? >> Yeah, that's not going to poke you or stab you. >> Do you know if they caught him? >> They're going to Where's it going to go? >> I don't know. Since the officer had used his taser on the woman, EMS was called to check her out. She started getting herself worked up over needing water. But the officer wasn't going to leave her unsupervised, even for a second while they waited. >> Guys, please get some water. >> You need to call down. >> I want to go over there with you. I just >> That's not going to happen. EMS is going to come around the corner any second. They'll be able to get you some fluids. >> No, I don't need food. I need water. >> Fluids. So right now you're under arrest for possession of dangerous drugs, possession of narcotic drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, and felony flight. Okay. Felony resisting. You took off running. That's what it means. So you're looking at right now four felony charges. You >> told me to run. >> Okay. It doesn't mean you had to do it. >> Okay. How can I get out of it? >> Tell me what's in the car. >> Tell me what's in the car and then let me go. >> Tell me what's in the car and we can talk about it. I'm not going to promise you anything. >> I don't know what's in the car though. After the evidence he'd found and the way she'd been lying from the moment he stopped them, he wasn't going to be fooled by her acting innocent. Meanwhile, the cops had called her friend and finally it was time to search the car. >> Hey, nice pop, bro. All blues. 1915 >> change nature of this call to drugs. Both are going to be under arrest for transportation or narcotic drugs. >> The officer gave the woman yet another chance to talk, but she still refused. Soon after, paramedics arrived and both suspects were taken to the hospital. The officer then completed his search of the vehicle. All Hey yo, >> take a pick of this, bro. >> This is a good game right here, man. >> Good stop, bro. >> Great stop. Just so you're aware, we did find we just found a bunch more. So, um, probably 10 to 20 lbs. I'll point it out now. The officer's search revealed 20,000 fent 12 pounds of met and 2 lb of In addition, there were multiple warrants out for the woman in several states and they both got several charges related to drugs.
