I can pay for it. Please. My husband's right there. Please. My kids are in the car. Please. >> Why didn't you do that before? >> Are you convicted, felon? >> No, >> you're not. >> No. >> Okay. But you're the adult getting charged and they're getting >> No, because you're the adult. >> When I just Why would you be charged when you're the adult? >> When the other cop just >> All right. So, what's going to happen right now? >> Y'all gone. Jeff, >> all three of you. Okay. Walmart's packed with cameras, and it's not the place to pull a fast one. But some of these geniuses still try. From casually strolling out with over $1,000 in goods to blaming their own kids, the cops often catch shoplifterss acting dumb and innocent outside Walmart. You can hold my buggy. I'm going outside to find my little sister. And he said, "Okay." He stood there and he watched me. I never walked out the door. And I I mean I walked out the door, but I didn't walk out the door with nothing. >> On December 19th, 2024 in Ohio, the cops were dispatched to a Walmart after reports of a shoplifting incident in progress. When the officer arrived, he spotted [music] the two suspects who turned out to be sisters trying to exit the parking lot in an SUV. Quad, baby, but I don't want him. He's not getting ready to blame me. And what he said you got on, >> right? Can you tell them to walk out to the middle of the parking lot and confirm if this is the right car? They can see my cruiser in front of it. They need to confirm that for me. >> I'm sorry, guys. I mean, if it's not you, I do apologize, but >> I don't have >> that. We Nobody had anything. So, >> he got anyway. He does not know if that's correctly and I'm I'm reporting him too. That's bull. >> That's bull. They're wrong. >> The cop was given a description of the woman that she matched almost perfectly down to the exact clothes she was wearing. But even with this damning new evidence, the suspect, who was visibly irate, continued denying she'd done anything wrong. >> I'm making a report. That's bull. Okay, we'll go back up to the front >> that for what? And he said he he don't that's that he don't even know if that's the right car. >> Listen, I have reasonable suspicion that he's given me a uh description. Two black females in a white SUV, >> and he described your clothes, black t-shirt, pink pants. Listen, I have reasonable suspicion for you to go back up there for him to either identify you or say you're good. If you're good, then you leave and it's done. And you can file a report if you wish. I'll give you my badge number, my name. >> It's not your fault, though. I I understand that. >> And that if that man calls and he says he don't know, I believe there's several black people in that store, he's wrong, sir. >> And you know that and then it just come across the radio. >> I don't know for sure. And he go it came across. >> So there was a theft at Walmart and they're putting out a description of two black females in a white SUV >> with the and they gave the clothing description of what she's wearing. So, I need you to go up front and she they're either going to say that's her or that's not and then you guys are good to go. >> Such intense denial can be a clear sign of guilt. Typically, when someone's telling the truth, protesting your innocence so strongly is unnecessary. If she was really telling the truth, she'd simply walk back into the store and prove to them they got the wrong person. >> They say heavy set black female wearing a black t-shirt and pink pants and a white SUV. That's all I need to make you up front. >> That's crazy. >> Okay. So, it's either that or I'm going to charge somebody with obstruction. Okay. So, I have reasonable suspicion. I'm not trying to escalate it. I don't I don't want to do all that, but can we please go up front and see? Absolutely. Okay. If that's it, then you're good to go. >> Tell LP that I have this car coming back up front. Need him to come outside and either identify this individual or release them. >> If that's the case, it's bull. >> I'm not going back in that store. Come out here. >> Okay. I told him to come out. >> It ain't a goddamn Walmart bag in this mother. >> Quit cussing. That's disorderly >> sir. >> Okay, that's that's okay. I can have you leave, but you can't be cussing. There's kids and now calm down. >> Go ahead. I understand you're frustrated, but >> I got the information when they originally called in. It should be an Angela Dunn. I ran her for signal. I'm not sure what vehicle you're out with, but she does have a name. >> You know, Angela wrong. >> Okay. This individual, >> you want my ID? >> That's it. >> My name's not Angela. >> This out. >> They're wrong. >> Go ahead and step out. Turn the car in that car. Nothing. >> We got >> No, you're a liar. You are a liar. And you're wrong. My name's not Angela. The officer ran her details and came up with the name Angela. When she heard that over the radio, she insisted her name was Santana and not Angela. It's a common tactic among shoplifters to provide a false name, but it often results in more severe charges than shoplifting on its own. >> Can I I don't understand what I >> both I was told to go. We were going shopping for We're going shopping for our kids. She said get the car. I went and got the car. I'm not hip to anything that's going on. >> And that's the thing. It ain't nothing in this mother car. He said Angela. My name is not Angela. That's what she said. >> Stand at that door. Don't move. >> You got anything on you? >> No sir. You want to check my pockets? >> Up until that point, the other woman in the car had remained almost silent. So the cop went back to talk to her and find out what she had to do with it. As we alluded to earlier, it turns out she was the younger sister and she claims she knew nothing about the shoplifting. >> You're clear. If you end up clearing up, you come over and assist people searches. Turn around. >> Are you arresting me? >> Yes. Turn around. >> For what? I official business. >> Obstructing. >> Hang up the phone. >> They're arresting me for obstruction. I don't know. >> Put your Turn your hand this way. >> I don't know. It's Walmart. I don't know. Walmart and 2:00. I don't know. >> Did you know she was taking some? No. >> Okay. >> But my my intentions, she said she she needed a ride. She doesn't have a car, so we're supposed to be going shopping. Okay. She told me what to help her look for this. Look for that. Okay. >> When she got in the car, did did she make you aware that she had just left LP? >> No, I didn't know. >> Dixie, >> how old are you? >> What? >> How old are you? >> They detained the younger sister for obstructing official business. It's a seconddegree misdemeanor in Ohio with a maximum penalty of 90 days in jail. Strangely, the two sisters were not the only thieves in Walmart that day. The employees explained that while Angela slipped off to the parking lot, they were dealing with a separate incident. >> It's honest hour. They're about to pull me all the footage. They're about to pull the receipt. >> What happened today? >> I'm going to tell you. So, when I I was really actually looking for my little sister, but she had already went to another store. So when I walked out, I was standing there standing I didn't even make it out the door. So when I came there, I was standing at the door and I was looking like, "Is she outside?" I walked over by subway. I was standing there. So then the white man jumped out. He came right there by the door and he said, "Hey, sir, lost prevention." I said, "I'm looking for my little sister." I said, "You can hold my buggy. I'm going outside >> to find my little sister." And he said, "Okay." He stood there and he watched me. I never walked out the door. I I mean I walked out the door, but I didn't walk out the door with nothing. >> Did you have items that they had to take back from you before you walked out the store? >> I didn't walk out the store. I left the the buggy was sitting right there. >> Okay. >> All right. >> So I It wasn't like I was walking out the door with the buggy. You know what I'm saying? I was standing I was see that second door right there, that last door. I was standing right there when the door opened. I looked out. Well, before I looked out, the man said, "Losts prevention." I said, "I'm not going anywhere, sir. I'm looking for my little sister." He said, "Okay." He I seen him do something on his phone and I when I walked out this way, I was walking to the car and I heard him on the phone, but I didn't know. You know what I mean? >> Okay. All right. >> So, he was like, "Uh, he [clears throat] said, "I can't." He said, "I can't say you stole it cuz you didn't make it out the store, but I do still have to call the police." I said, "I wasn't going out the store." >> While talking to loss prevention, the cop said he believed the younger sister when she said she had no idea about the theft. As things turned out though, Angela had a history of possession and faced likely charges of obstruction and theft. >> Real flow, you're going to spell me your full name. I'm going to run it real quick. Just make sure you don't warrant. >> Angela John, 57y old female valid. >> What did you say your name was? >> Constructing and theft. >> I've never smoked a cigarette, but I feel like I could right now. >> Listen, uh, is this like an actual family member? >> Same. Oh, okay. Soon as she comes back, she can find you. Uh, there's nothing. >> 25-year-old. >> Okay, let's go in front of my car. I'm going to take the cuffs off of you and you'll be good to go. Okay. >> As for the sister, since the cop believed her story, she was free to go. Whether she was really clueless or not, I guess we'll never know. But at that very moment, there was no evidence to prove otherwise. Please don't let her pull off. I If I'm going to jail, I need a phone number. I don't have no phone numbers, no nothing. >> Okay. Give me just a sec. What number you want? Hers. >> I need No, I need to tell I I need to tell her to call my cousin. I don't even know if Am I going to jail? >> What cousin? Yeah, you are. You're going to jail. You're under arrest for trucking official business and theft without consent >> for $735 or something like that. >> What did I obstruct? >> You lied to me at the end of the parking lot. Said it, wouldn't you? >> I did not. >> Maybe it's Listen, cuz it was it was another it's another woman in there. Angela, or whatever her name was, continued pleading her innocence despite the mountain of evidence stacked up against her. She even went so far as to say that another woman in the store was responsible for the theft. It must have been a miraculous coincidence that there was another woman who looked exactly like her and wearing the exact same clothes. >> You don't have nothing on you, do you? Listen, listen, listen. Honest hour. If you go to the jail with something on you, it's a felony and I will charge you with it. >> Yes, sir. >> So, you don't have anything on you? Okay. cuz I don't want to make my officer pull you out and do all the extra stuff. >> If you go to jail, it's going to be a felony. >> I don't think I got nothing on me. >> Okay. >> Oh, my mind. >> Okay. Do you want to get her out and check check her anyway? That's up to you. >> It's up to you. You told me. >> Yeah. Go ahead and get out. Stretch your legs for a second. Okay. And who's that? >> That's one of my husband doing this cuz I had that drug. I don't like >> No. Come on. I've been so respectful with you. Come on now. I said the thing when it came back, she said, "You got a history of uh possession. >> I could care less about a history. >> You look fine to me. I don't think you're doing right now." >> I'm not. I don't even smoke. >> They arrested Angela and she was taken to Ross County Jail and charged with obstruction and theft. On the 18th of February 2024, the cops detained a known shoplifter named Priscilla. Just days after stealing from Walmart, she came back for another try. Only this time, she was not going to get away. >> Okay. So, walk me through what happened with the frames. >> I just took them because I needed money. We have nowhere to live. >> Okay. >> We just What day did that happen on? >> I just 15. Okay. >> So, that would have been what? Thursday. >> Okay. So, you don't have an ID in this bag? Anything with your name on it? >> No. >> But you have a Washington state ID. >> I haven't got it yet. >> No. You You must have had some kind of ID. >> Cuz here's the thing. I mean, >> unless I can identify you here, I'm going to have to take you to jail cuz then >> they'll identify you through fingerprints, right? >> Yeah. feel like he's cutting me down. >> Priscilla said she didn't have ID, so they couldn't confirm her identity or criminal history. It's a real red flag for officers because usually the suspect's trying to hide something. >> I'm very flexible. Okay, you don't have to go to jail, >> but you need to tell me the truth. >> Tell me the truth. >> I want to go to jail. >> Is it Did you somebody Is it a major warrant with a high bail? I I got released and I went to rehab, but I didn't check in. >> You didn't check in with D. >> Oh, okay. >> Cuz my >> I got to check. >> She finally admitted she had an outstanding warrant. She had a previous crime and had failed to check in with the Department of Corrections. If you're arrested for a separate crime while you still have a warrant, the cops typically take you into custody and you're booked on both charges. >> Yeah. Go ahead and check the check the picture. >> Got to make sure. No, I'm just saying I've been locked up before, though. >> Yeah, [laughter] >> I usually do it. I don't go to jail. I usually go to jail. >> I don't know. I have to run you first. But she's going to patch it on. >> Do you have to run? >> I do. >> But I still >> No, I don't. >> You already stole the things though. >> So, you guys got the merchandise before she left. >> Well, she went to try to return it as well. So, she loaded bags full. We were watching her. Then, she went right to the service desk, passed through the registers. >> Yeah. >> Um, and we denied that return as well. >> That wasn't I I remember. >> The cop asked the boyfriend to hand over the U-Haul keys as they'd been staying there and they probably stashed the stolen goods there. Over the past few days, Priscilla had committed at least two crimes they knew of and who knows how many more that were unknown. me. >> How long have you guys been dating? >> I've been on >> a month. Several months. >> I know. I'm trying to get help. >> Do you have a case manager already? >> I have a case manager. I'm trying to help. I feel so like >> like I'm not sure. I'm not sure. But let's take it one step at a time, right? Do you want to sit back down on here? Okay. >> Can you watch her for a second? After running her details, the cops found out she had a federal warrant out for driving without a license and also DUI. She'd already explained to the officers that she'd been in rehab and clearly had a history of drinking or drug abuse. [laughter] [laughter] Mirror, mirror, [laughter] [crying] please. I don't want to go away. >> You said you had a warrant at a where? [laughter] >> Here. >> Here. Yeah, >> that's the only one you know about. >> So, we might have to get that taken care of today. >> I am. >> I better take care of it. >> I'm taking care of it. This is an eye opener. Okay. I don't want to look like this. I don't. >> Right now, we're just checking on that warrant to see if we can scared. I'm really scared. >> I wait too long. Oh, my husband wants to call and he passed away and a half ago. >> I'm sorry. >> And I went down because I was trying to [snorts] I don't have anybody. The woman said her husband had been an officer but committed su a year and a half ago. Since then, she admitted she'd been spiraling. The officer was understanding and sympathetic to her situation, but perhaps facing the consequences will help her break the cycle and finish her life of crime. Well, the warrant that you have is no bail. So that's why we have to take care of it. >> Where'd he go? >> I think we just went back to the the truck. >> In the in the event that you do need to come back for trial, we would provide the transportation back to Feather Way. >> Oh, I did not give him a heart. >> Um, >> please. Yeah, if he's still here, we can try to track him down. >> The outstanding warrant wasn't available, meaning once she's arrested, she'll be held in custody till it's time for court. There's no opportunity to be released on bail. Shoplifting is a pretty minor crime, but having this extra warrant could mean she goes down for a long time. be strong. Hey, look. >> It's going to be okay. >> No. Never. >> [laughter] >> So, we're gonna give Don the bag. Okay. >> So, you'll have your bag. [laughter] >> All right. [laughter] >> Yes. even better for a minute. Okay, we can get better. We can get get ourselves together. We can get ourselves together. Okay, we can. >> The cop told Priscilla that she'd be taken to Score Jail in De Moine, Washington. It was later confirmed she'd been there before for a previous crime. >> Have a seat in there, please. >> I'm getting a little tired. I'm so tired. Okay. >> Thanks. >> So, what happened in that instance? >> She just went in the vision center, grabbed him, and ran out. >> Really? >> Yeah. The vision center manager was following behind her, but she jumped in the U. >> Oh, same one. >> Okay. >> Yep. >> And that happened on the 15. Okay. >> That one was like $192 for just the frame or like 80 something. >> Wow. So, what was it? What was the total? uh pull it up to get you the exact total. >> And you have good video, right? >> Mhm. Okay. [clears throat] >> That's why when we called uh to I mean she went has her point last night to sell for us today. >> Yeah. >> Like I we went back and played back the video verified it was her U-Haul. >> Yeah. >> Oh, 280 even. >> 280. >> The shop assistant told the officer that he tried to stop the woman from escaping, but she was simply too fast. And at the very same time, the staff was busy with another shoplifter. Clearly, there are plenty of clueless thieves out there who have no idea Walmart is crawling with cameras and security. >> I'm sorry. >> Anywhere else can I go with score? >> Anywhere else, please. >> No, that's the only place that we do right now. >> Please. >> Why? Why is not score? >> Somewhere horrible. It's horrible. >> Yeah. When's the last time you went there? She's been out with you. >> Yeah, >> I'm really tired of >> you know. Well, I'm very proud of you for taking care of this warrant today and we'll start from there. >> She was taken to jail where they charged her with theft. While there, she was also questioned about the previous shoplifting incident and her outstanding warrant. On the 18th of June 2023 in Chambbleley, Georgia, the cops were dispatched to a Walmart after reports of a shoplifting incident. The alleged suspect was spotted leaving the store with a bag full of electronics. When the cops approached him, he said he had a receipt, but it happened to misplace it. >> Sir, could you come here for a second, please? You got some items that you didn't pay for? >> No, I got um I paid for the iPhone headphones and electronic station. >> Go ahead. But I guess they caught you on camera doing something. Can we Can we verify? >> I mean, I got my receipt. >> Okay. You got the receipt? >> Yeah. >> Step over here for me, please. Come on. Out the parking room. >> I got my receipt, bro. Stop looking for my goddamn headphones. Stop all that jail. >> I ain't pay for the iPhone. I just paid for the iPhone that >> I paid for the hit point. >> We You ain't got to be upset. We just We We're We really calm. >> He immediately got defensive and even blamed the cops for wanting to send him to jail just because he's black. His frantic attempts to empty his pockets and find the alleged receipt prompted one officer to tell him to relax, likely concerned he'd do something dumb. >> I'm saying I got I don't know where >> the iPhone headphone, bro. >> You got a firearm on you? >> No, sir. >> You already have [snorts] no >> cuz when I walked up, it look like you got one. >> I don't got one, >> but I did. I paid for the iPhone headphones in the electronic section. I paid for the headphones, bro. >> Yes, I did. I paid for them in electronic. You >> did not? >> Yes, I did. I got the receipt for it. >> To verify if he paid for things, the officer asked the suspect to accompany him to loss prevention. And when his story didn't check out, there was one thing clear. He was leaving with handcuffs and not shopping bags. Bro, not going to tell people, bro. >> Man, I want >> Where the headphones supposed to be at? >> I They Apple headphones. I just got them paid for them. >> No. No. I didn't >> I paid for them at the counter. >> Listen, I didn't say nothing about Apple headphones, did I? >> You said headphones. >> Yes. PlayStation 5 headphones. >> Ring a bell, don't it? All right. >> All right. Migos been here all the time. Not going to tell me being here all the time spinning focusing on black [ __ ] Bro, >> after searching his backpack, they found PlayStation headphones and other items as well. Even so, the man continued denying any wrongdoing like he did with the cops before. He was accusing the workers of racial profiling. >> So, you pay for this? >> That's a yes or no question. >> Why you worried about a pair of headphones and Migos be running out this all time every day? >> What you trying to focus on me and get a black excuses on >> the black? That's what you do. They with that black noise, >> but the black man put in his bag. [laughter] >> I ain't got damn homies. Yeah, I do what I got to do, bro. >> The officer asked the man for ID, but he said he wasn't carrying any. Like we said before, it's a classic shoplifter move. He said his name was Raphael Matthews and gave a birth date in 1994. However, when they checked things out, there were no records matching those details. >> And I'm going tell you, man, I'm give I'm going to give you a disclaimer. I please I hope you tell us the truth, man. >> Wait, you you live you live you got a Did you Did you ever have a ID? >> Well, yeah, I got ID. >> So, where your ID out of >> Here's here's the thing, dude. If you don't if it don't show up, you going to jail. I'm trying to write you a check. >> Oh, that's that's that's my name. All right. >> That's why I have you write down the name because if you write it down, that means you gave me a false name. cuz I missed the court date. >> But then what that got to do with you writing down your name? >> You don't you don't know how we would have you don't know how we would have turned that around. >> So you got another little way you want to start? >> No, that's not my name. >> Oh, okay. >> So you already rule number one. Don't give us a >> I missed the court date. I might have But you what? You thought we were just going to let you go on this? >> Let me tell you how this works in 27 years of law enforcement. If somebody gives you a name and it don't come back, chances are either you're you're lying to us or you were brought here by you you're unidentified flying object last night. >> I told you what it was. I missed the court date. Seriously, like two months ago. >> Eventually, he confessed to giving the cops a fake name. After missing a court date two months prior, he thought he might have an outstanding warrant. But after searching his name, they found he had no active warrants, so he didn't have to lie in the first place. >> All right. Just a criminal trespass. If you come back, they you go back to jail again. >> That's sleep right there, sir. >> Okay. Well, that's that's where you go to jail at, man. Go ahead. Stand up, man. >> Watch the drink. >> I didn't I didn't know like I just got a call from the county. They got a new shipment of H2O this morning. You put your money in your pocket. I >> got like a little Ziploc bag. You have money. >> I'm saying I ain't trying to make nobody feel bad for me, bro. You just I know you don't give a damn. >> Homeless. >> You never had to deal with your choices, not me. >> How is my choice? I'm homeless. >> The headphones he stole were worth almost $600, which for any thief was a really juicy score. He offered to pay for them, but later admitted that he didn't have the money. >> All these police officers hit. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Crazy, bro. >> Come on, bro. Watch these folk work work deal with other races every day. Black just so excited to get in the lock up. I'm stand crazy. >> [snorts] >> Uh, I don't know. >> Oh, it is like a paper. [music] >> Can't have. Hold on. Hold on. >> Forgot what this is for. I'm more wait to get wait to say he's stupid. >> All right. >> Everybody else. >> I ain't blaming nobody. I said I >> All right, sir. Your flight begins shortly. They transported the man to Decal County Jail and he was later charged with theft. Usually shoplifting charges are misdemeanors. But in Georgia, if the theft's over $500, it becomes a felony. And if that's the case, there could be far more severe consequences. On the 1st of October 2023 in Florida, the cops were alerted to a suspected shoplifting incident. When they arrived on scene, they confronted the woman in the parking lot. She said her husband and kids were waiting in the car and she was caught red-handed in the middle of a brazen stealing spree. >> You been in trouble before? >> No, not really. You know >> what grade of birth was in the wings? >> My husband's right over there. If I can just pay for something, can we drop it, please? >> Who's it up to? >> Walmart. >> I can pay for it. Please. My husband's right there. Please in the car, please. >> Why didn't you do that before? >> Are you convicted, felon? >> No, >> you're not. >> No. >> What's your date of birth again? >> Please, my present's in the car. Please, Walmart. Please. >> After being stopped and questioned by loss prevention, the woman ditched her stolen goods and fled into the parking lot trying to get away and avoid the consequences of her actions. But the cops had been called and they caught up with the woman before she could escape. last time. Is this your name? >> Yes. >> Is this your social? >> Yes. This my social? Yes. >> Cuz it's going back to the black guy. Cool tattoos. >> Well, I don't know why. I see. That's my social. >> You got nothing here with your name on it. >> No, nothing. >> So, how can we verify that you live here? >> Oh, that goes with that. >> Yeah, that goes with that. with that. Yes, sir. >> I'm being honest. Please, can I just pay with a debit card or something, please? >> Which one is your husband's car? >> Audi. >> She said her name was Vanessa Cruz, but after searching their database, the cops found nothing that matched. >> Have I? >> No, I don't. I have a rapid ID. So, I'm letting you know it's an extra charge if you don't give law enforcement your accurate information. Giving you one last >> Okay, great. >> Okay. Thank you. Because they don't want you to get extra charges. >> Mom, I'm already getting charged. Doesn't matter. I'm going to jail for my kids and for my kids. >> Yes, I know. I know. I made the right wrong decision. I know that. I know. I'm very aware. the date of birth. >> So you you ran all the way over here. >> Yeah. >> Why did I go to you? >> Not stealing. They they confronted you cuz they've been watching you. >> You're right. I shouldn't >> cuz Walmart has better cameras than banks. >> You're right. My husband has a debit card or something. We can drop this right now. >> What? What's we going to find out who you are? If you had a warrant. >> Eventually, she gave the cops her real name. She'd been lying to them, trying to keep the cops from finding out that she already had a warrant for failing to pay child support. In Florida, failing to pay child support can lead to serious consequences, including driver's license revocation, asset seizure, and even jail time. >> So, where'd you get the name? from Vanessa Cruz. She's your friend. She did all kinds of stuff in her history. But the picture don't look nothing like >> Yeah. You couldn't even You couldn't even pass the sister. I was kidding. >> What was going on? All they had someone run into the parking lot. So obviously that's something going on. >> Usually entails shoplifting. >> The woman paced around nervously, which was raising red flags. The arresting officer feared she might bolt since she' done so earlier dashing into the parking lot after being caught by loss prevention. But even if she did, with multiple cops around her, she wasn't going to get far. >> All right. Either way, I'm checking you. And then when you get down there, >> yeah, >> that's fine. I still got to check you. And then when you get to the >> I know. I don't know what girl >> place then You just got to get >> Sorry, I didn't feel it. Okay, just under. >> No. >> Anything in your bra? >> No. >> Okay. No, you don't have to face me. You're fine. >> I don't know what to do. Just >> All right. Sorry. Not trying to >> No, it's fine. It's fine. >> Like I said, you're going to get screwed up, but >> No, I'm very aware. >> Okay. >> Uh, anything in your shoes or anything like that? Okay. One of the cops had been at the same store that morning regarding a different theft and another cop had been there yesterday. Walmart, of course, is one of the busiest one-stop shops in America. With so many people making their way through the store every day, shoplifting's inevitable. >> I was going to get He doesn't want me to say hi back to my husband. [music] We'll still We'll We'll get there. Please. >> Are your kids actually in the car? >> I don't want to mention that. >> Is that them in the car? >> Yes. >> They had nothing to do with Leave them alone. >> Not doing anything with the kids. >> Are they inside with you? >> No, ma'am. >> No, ma'am. >> You want to step out of their line of sight? [music] >> That way they don't see you. >> Just remember next time This isn't >> I know it was but what I'm saying is that if you think you're not going to get caught >> nine times out of >> 10. [music] >> No, it was I was trying to go as something. It was late. It was late thinking. I was using a rush. I wasn't thinking at all. >> The cops discovered that her outstanding child support warrant was tied to the kids waiting in the nearby car. However, the man who was with them, her husband, was not the kid's father. This raised some questions about where the kids might go while their mom was staying in jail. >> How much am I looking at? >> That I don't know. I'm not the I'm not the bonds person. >> It's like 30 $40. >> I think their limit's like 20 something. >> Yeah, >> it's very little. Like >> Well, that's that's the limit for prosecution. They can still I mean if you take a piece of junk >> I'm just I'm telling staying overnight, right? >> Yes. >> Yay. >> Yeah. Okay. >> You came here by yourself. >> No, there's her husband and her boyfriend are kids because they're smoke a cigarette before I go in or >> That's not my fault. while we were going in her car and I don't know that she's going to want to smell like that to be honest. >> Somebody else take me please. >> You even have cigarettes in here, do you? >> No, they're in the car. They're in my husband's car. >> Oh, yeah. I can't do that. I don't know what you'd be smoking then. Like there might be something in there. >> In Florida, the charge for shoplifting depends on the value of the stolen goods. If it's less than $100, it's a secondderee misdemeanor. If the value is between $100 and 750, it's a first-degree misdemeanor. If the value is over 750, it's grand theft, which is a felony charge. >> Your car's over here. >> I don't know yet. Let me talk to her. >> Oh, you want to switch them out? Hold on. Let me get her. Let's switch out her cuffs for Garcia. >> [music] >> I'm not running. We don't have to worry. You guys [music] >> Come on. >> Hey, what's the warrant for you? Child support. >> Yeah, it's just child support. >> I don't have the money. >> They usually do work. They don't they're not the 300 right now. >> They arrested the woman for shoplifting and took her to jail. Once in custody, she was facing theft charges as well as the outstanding child support warrant, ensuring that her legal troubles were far from over. On the 7th of October 2022 in Ottabon, New Jersey, the cops were called to a Walmart after reports of a suspected shoplifting incident involving a couple. The duo who said they were homeless had been accused of stealing bed sheets. >> Hold on one second. >> I don't have Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Yeah, my bad. >> I apologize. I forgot it was there. There ain't nothing in there. >> That's a >> I don't have ID. Um someone >> Okay. All right. >> Can you just stay over here with me? >> Okay. >> Thank you, babe. >> I apologize. You won't come back again. >> Yeah, he just took my name. >> He took everything. >> You got your ID? Uh, >> no. I don't have ID on here. >> Of course, they both claim not to have ID, which never brings any good for any suspect. They may as well just be honest from the start because the cops are going to find things out. >> You guys ever been arrested before in New Jersey? Ever go to county jail or anything like that? >> Um, I have the So what happens here? Like because we gave it back and all, we're able to go like a warning, right? >> No, not necessarily. >> Oh, okay. >> Who had a part of it, correct? Yeah, they both they both were carrying it. I don't know if you seen them, but they cut through the subway sign. I seen them back. >> I'm talking to him right now. >> I know. I was trying to talk to you. I apologize. >> They backed in near the hardware, >> which is when I called you guys. I thought they were going to push out, but [clears throat] I ended up calling my other manager to see if she can help me. They were already making their way to the front. They already passed. They cut through the subway side >> here. I just stopped. So, >> all right. >> They ain't nothing. When asked to identify herself, the woman gave the name Kadada Wazir. However, after searching the database, nothing matched that information. Eventually, she admitted to giving a false name and revealed that her real name was Kylie Matias. >> I told him a different I don't know why when I have no warnings, I have nothing to worry about. >> I appreciate being honest. >> You know, I don't want more problems on myself than I need. That was stupid when all we could all we had to do is just get a warning and >> you know what I mean? I don't I don't I didn't want all that. Mom, I'm here at Walmart. Um, the auto police got us. Um, I don't I think I I hope because we gave the stuff back and you know that we could just get a warning and come back, but I don't know what's going on. the Ottawan police. >> I said I we gave the stuff back to Walmart, so I'm hoping it's just a warning not to come back, you know, but >> I'll call you. It It wasn't like, you know, I'll call you back. >> Are they taking any armor stuff? >> No, we just It was just >> That's all. And honest to God, it was because like my mom's we have nowhere to stay. It was obviously it's not the right way. >> It's not the right way. We know that. But we was just trying to pay for another night to have a room over. >> The cops were informed that the store wanted to press charges against Kylie. With the surveillance footage and the staff member statement, it was a reasonable assumption that she'd be going to jail that day. >> You guys got the email for the >> Yeah. Uh yours should be in our system. Yeah. I'll be over there in a little bit. >> All right. Appreciate it. >> Again, sir, I apologize. You ain't going to see. We won't come back. >> That's part of the deal, too. >> Okay. Yeah. I don't I ain't trying to Yeah. No, I wouldn't. >> I wouldn't. I don't need any of this. I swear to God. >> Like, oh my god, it's crazy. Everything that is happening right now. We literally lost everything. >> What's that? Retail. It's done. >> It is. >> Yeah. >> Over 200. >> Over 200. >> Yeah. >> But yeah, but if it was like >> But is that something to just take it slow or we could still It's a misdemeanor like a warning not to come back. trespass and court date, right? >> It's not a warning. It's legit. >> I mean, [clears throat] a ticket. Yeah, that's what I mean. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But just a court date. >> It is. It's like >> lar 500. >> Oh, yeah. Over in Jersey, it's over 500. Yep. 500. Jerseyy's crazy. >> Yeah. 200 to 500 is fourth degree. >> Don't say that. >> 500 to something is >> Okay. But but but but we're but Oh, man. Later, when searching her details on the police database, the arresting officer found out that Kylie had a string of arrests dating back years. The first was in Bridton, New Jersey in 2014. She'd also been arrested in other parts of New Jersey, twice in 2019, and once in 2016. >> Amazing. We just lost everything. Everything >> everything literally. And and my mom's disabled. And >> the other What did you lose? How'd you lose it? >> Well, somebody stole our car with everything in it. >> No [ __ ] >> Which car or what kind of car? >> It was a uh Nissan exterior. >> Everything in it that we was living out of it. Somebody stole it and took off with it. And >> when did they steal it? >> When? >> Yeah, >> it was a couple days ago. >> Yeah, just everything just >> Oh, having issues. >> Yeah. What uh the address in lawn? >> I don't remember. That's what I said. I don't remember the new I don't remember the numerical. I think it's like 10 something. >> It's uh 217. Where's your take them over fingerprint sol? >> Yeah, both. They're both Listen, you got anything in your bag or anything like this? Anything in this bag? Parapel. >> What's that? >> It's just paraphernalia in there. >> All right. >> Yeah. >> Could you just take that off? >> Oh, I'm sorry. Yes. >> What's happening? >> We're going to take you over a station. >> Just fingerprint us and >> fingerprint process. you get you out of there. >> The officer informed the suspects that their charge was a misdemeanor and they'd get a ticket with a court date and a no trespassing warning from Walmart. They also charged Kylie with giving a fake name to police. >> Kylie, right? >> Kylie. Yeah, >> Kylie. Okay. Yep. Step around here. >> Tom, do you mind picking her up? I just got to double check the back. May I have just a cup of water, please? >> Sure. Give us one second. >> All right. If you want to hang out right there for me. So, what we're going to do because we have the booth here, we're going to put you in the cell. But, um, do you have any on your necklace? Okay. I'm going to use your shoes. What the heck? It's more like 25. >> Yeah, >> I hate wearing those. >> It is a disgusting feeling. I kind of try to trust me. >> Sweat, too. >> All right. You have nothing on you or anything like that. >> Nothing. One second. Let's take these cups off. You want to take the cuff off? Just go ahead and put on the wall for me. >> Got All right, there you go. >> All right. Could you take off the bracelets around your wrist? >> Kylie was charged with shoplifting and released pending a court date set for October 20th, 2022. But obviously, she didn't learn from her mistake as she was arrested later on September 13th, 2024. One week later, she plead guilty to theft by taking and paid fines totaling $233. On the 4th of June 2025, the cops were dispatched to Target after a mother was caught shoplifting with her two young children with her. As they were leaving the store, the cops stopped the family and questioned them, and the officer recognized one of the children from a previous incident where the mother had been arrested. >> I know you. >> I think everybody does at this point. Everybody knows me. >> We're sitting here. >> Wait, where do you know me from? >> I remember you. >> Where? >> How do you know me? >> I don't know you. I know. I know your sister. Is that your sister? >> Wait, how? >> I saw you down in Panel. >> I know you. >> When she just got charged for >> I'm not. >> You're the one that was sitting with me and the baby. >> That's what I was sitting with you. >> You're pretty sweet. I like you. >> Not bad yourself. But I mean, I'm out here with you guys again. No, she's pretty sweet. You and the one that was watching over me and the baby when you were getting arrested. >> I don't give a about that. One charge is already dropped. >> None of that. None of that matters. I'm not here for that. We're here for something different today. >> That charge got dropped. I went to court and literally they told me to go downstairs and then they go, >> "Oh, it's dropped >> yesterday morning." >> Yeah. See, I'm not here to hold anything against anybody. Seeing the kids of known criminals being dragged repeatedly into their parents' crimes must be one of the more difficult parts about being a cop. It was also revealed that the woman's daughter, Ashley, had seen her mother get arrested at least twice already in her life. Eventually, a woman known to the family arrived to take the kids away. >> Is she a witness or something? >> She's going to drive. >> Oh, I got you. >> I love you. >> Can I have your >> He said it can't take about 20 minutes for him to finish. I can do my whip shopping while I'm waiting on y'all to be released. >> Yeah, >> probably time. >> You're bringing me your kid tonight? >> No, I ain't. You're in trouble. >> Are y'all You actually trespass or now? >> What do you mean? >> Like, let's say >> they don't give you paperwork. >> Yeah. >> And they say you're trespass. >> Yeah. >> You're trespass. >> If I don't get it though, and they say you in >> You're going to get it. >> I ain't never got in there in over a year. >> Okay. But they were told you you're trespassed, right? >> Not really. They just told me um not to come in. >> That doesn't mean you're trespassed then. It was like one of the workers. He was having a bad day. He's like, "I just don't want you back in the store." >> Yeah. It don't mean nothing. >> Hang tight for us. Okay. Let's figure out what's going on because Cor wants to do something different. >> Yeah. On the video. Watch the video. It's all on the on the surveillance. >> What's going on? >> We're trying to figure something out. I know my supervisor wants to do something different. Okay. >> What was your supervisor? >> We're scared. >> That's what we're trying to figure out. Hey, remember, look, you remember the last time we weren't scared. Nothing bad happened. >> I was scared. What happened? >> The mother revealed that the day before she'd been in court for a child neglect charge, but the case had been dropped. Just one day later, here she was again in trouble with the law. Some people just never learn. >> You don't go around so hard. I'm not. >> Maria dies her real quick. >> Okay, let's walk this way. >> What's up? >> What's going on with her? >> I'll explain in a sec. I don't really know. >> I'm scared. >> What are you scared for? Everything's fine. >> Don't eat it. No, >> do not stop. Everybody, just stop. >> Calm down. >> Shut up. >> I want to know what's going on. >> Okay. All right. You want to know what's going on? So, the there's video that shows that you put a blanket in your kids possession >> and I told them not to do it. >> You told them not to do what? So, you put the blanket in their possession? >> I put it in there cuz they said they wanted it. And I looked in my wallet. I didn't have a money and I told them not to do it. >> As as the adult, why didn't you take the belonging away from them knowing that you couldn't afford it? Why didn't you take it away? And why did you let them walk out the building? >> I didn't let them walk out. I was already out of the building, >> right? You didn't even You didn't supervise them on any aspect. Okay. >> And then you can even ask my daughter if she even told them I told them not to. >> She claimed the kids had stolen the blanket even though she told them not to. However, the surveillance footage clearly showed the woman placing the stolen item in her bag. It was pointless to lie because the cops had damning footage and there was no way out. >> She's going to jail. It's okay. >> She is going to jail. Yes, >> she is. Perfect to know. >> I told you I'd tell you whatever you wanted to know. >> Thank you. >> Put in the bag. >> What's up? >> It's for putting in the bag. Huh? Because she told us not to shop list. >> I'm not really sure. I'm not the primary. >> Not all cops are so nice to me. >> I mean, I didn't do anything wrong. >> So, it's on video. You put one in the bag. >> And I told him not I didn't have enough money and I told him not to do it. I couldn't do it. Then and then you all and then all y'all walk out. >> I didn't all walk out. I was way over across the >> It's on video. Y'all right in front. You go and then they follow you out. >> The mother seems set on making her kids take the fall. Even though she was the adult there and should have known better. If anything, in that moment, she was the one acting more like a child. >> I just sat there and told her to put it back. She didn't put it back. >> Okay. You're the adult one getting charged and they're getting >> because you're the adult. >> When I just >> Why would your juvenile be charged when you're the adult and you're responsible? >> When the other cop just sat there and said he was going to give me a break. >> Well, no, we want we just watched the video. >> I know myself and Corpal in there. He said the video. >> The full video wasn't done at No, we're past that. Like I said, >> the video that we just watched, you're deliberately putting the stuff in the bag and y'all are all walking to the front and then you stop. You start walking, then they follow you right behind. >> And I was talking to them, telling them not to do it that I didn't have the money for it. >> Then why didn't you stop them or tell them to go back inside? Like loss prevention had to come out and stop them. >> Loss prevention was right at the door with them. >> So why didn't you stop say hey? No, I told him not. walked back up and was banging on the door to try to talk to him. >> The cop ordered the woman to walk toward the squad car and as she was walking away, her daughter Ashley called after her, telling her she loved her. It was like she was used to seeing her mother in cuffs being taken away by police. >> Okay, spread your feet and lean against the car. >> I am up against the car. How much more you want me against it? >> Are you on probation right now from the DUIS? >> No, I'm not on bond. >> You're out on bond? Okay. Okay. So, is this a violation? Stop turning your wrist. Turn it the other way. >> Just let the jail know she is out on bond for the other charge. >> Probably going to get revoked. And you're okay with that lady taking the kids, right? Okay. Um, so just kind of like a basic rundown of like what's going on because I I was out on the DUI arrest from last time. So, >> yay. >> Cuz I that's why I know who you are with them. Like I know they've you know all that. >> My daughter this time around. >> Um I mean ba basically it's pretty cut and dry. They're all inside. She's holding one of the items that was stolen, >> puts it in one of the kids' bags, and then they all proceed to the front >> and leave. Again, we don't have audio. Obviously, >> we're going based off of what's on the video. But obviously, when you see her put the stuff in the kid's bag and then walk out and then the kids walk out and she's like, "Oh, but I told him not to steal it, so she knew it was in there." And then she doesn't come back and say, "Hey, no, don't stay inside." >> I get it. >> The young woman told the cops that her mother was out on bond for DUI and also confirmed to them that her mother's felony charge for child neglect had been dropped. >> How many times have I seen you now? >> Twice. But it's my fault. This one. >> Hey, listen. What's your name again? >> Ashley. >> Ashley. We've been here so many times and I get you're trying to protect your mom, >> but that hear me out. because I had my kids party. I admit I >> know you're trying to protect your mom, >> but it's wrong. >> She needs as as your parent, she needs to look out for you. >> Look, Ashley, [clears throat] you cannot continue to protect her decisions. The choices she makes is the choices she makes. Okay? I want to see you do better. I've seen you more than enough times in situations that you should not be in. The cops also discovered that the mother had driven herself and her kids to the store despite the fact that her license was suspended due to the previous DUI. Driving on a suspended can have serious legal consequences, including hefty fines and even jail time. >> Ashley, we got to take a deep breath. >> Can't be going off. Look, can't be can't be home. >> I know you're going to go home, okay? But you can't be flying off the rocker right now. >> We should be going home. >> You can go home. You guys are free to go. >> Okay, >> you guys are good to go. >> We're good to go. Yeah, you're fine. You guys I'm not going to get >> No, you're perfectly fine to go. Okay. >> You got everything? >> Yeah. >> Is that all they need? >> Yeah, they're in the trespasses. I just need to get them. They're somewhere safe, please. >> I will. I have to. >> Come the on this. >> They charged the woman with petty theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. As we said earlier, she had been recently released on bond for a DUI and a felony neglect case for which she was on probation. The shoplifting charge violated the probation and as a result, the Department of Children and Families was notified. On September 16th, 2023, back in Florida, the cops were called to a Walmart after reports of a shoplifting incident. Three women were being accused of stacking items together and only scanning some of the items at selfch checkckout. As the women were trying to leave, the officers arrived. >> Ladies, out of the car. >> I'll let the whip, sir. >> All right, everybody out of the car for now. All right. >> Excuse me, sir. I'll let them. >> Okay, we're going to get to the bottom of everything. All right. Five alpha 11 to 5 alpha 31. >> I see some IDs. Are you okay for now? >> This is your receipt. We see your ID. >> The third lady with you in the store. She in the back seat >> with the store. >> Her in the back. I got for two ladies in orange shirts. What? >> Ma'am, step out for me. Everybody just step out for now. All right. >> You can stay right here. I'm going to have all you come around. >> Well, I got to get out just since I wasn't in there. >> Just let me just get everybody's ID for now. All right. >> The officer returned to the store to speak to the staff member who'd caught them stealing. And according to the employee, they left their items behind and tried to escape in their vehicle. According to loss prevention, before they left the store, they'd only paid for four items. >> 27, are you on top? 11. So, what do we got? >> Uh, they're still ringing the stuff up. Are they separating all the stuff that they did purchase right now? >> So, do they all do separate transactions or >> one person ring up everything? >> One person was doing it all. Wait, was it one person doing it all or were they all messing with it? >> One of them was scanning and the other one was bagging stuff up for us. So, they were just all there together. >> What was I doing? >> Sorry. >> I guess he's going to talk to him. See what's going on. I just got here. I don't know. >> So, the two in the orange, the one in the white and black dress, >> correct? >> They were in the schools cuz I have a fourth woman that was >> She was in the car. She has >> got to do with this. >> Okay. >> So far, they're at 693. >> $693 >> so far. >> So far got done. >> The employees worked together to assess the value of what they'd stolen. After adding it all up, the total of stolen goods was over $1,200. With the total being over 750, it was classified as grand theft, which in Florida is a thirdderee felony. >> You don't want to chill in the AC? >> No, cuz the I closed my door for my baby in the car. >> Okay. >> She got there. So, >> but the AC is on. >> Yeah, that's on her. >> Okay. Their sisters. >> That's my best friend. That's her mom and that's >> okay, brother. >> All right. So, explain to me who's who. They kind of filled me in a little bit. I need I need to look at it. >> Yeah. >> So that lady in that brown dress >> Uhhuh. >> she was the one that the subject got actively scanning stuff but missing too with like stat scanning and all that. >> Uh the lady with the tattoos on her chest right here. >> This one in a white dress or the other one? >> There's one sitting in the back seat. >> There's the one >> that one has a brown dress. >> Yeah, the one sitting in the back seat right now. Uh she just started bagging just random like items in the car without even passing. Okay. >> Uh it was the same deal with the lady in a striped dress. >> She was the one who was also doing the same thing. >> One woman who'd stayed in the car with her child insisted she wasn't involved. It was unclear whether she knew her friend's plans or not, but either way, she never set foot in Walmart. >> What was your name again, ma'am? >> Yes. >> Destiny. >> Okay. I I can go cuz I wasn't in the store with them. >> Yes. >> Ma'am, I need you to step out of the car for me. Come over here. I need to speak to all three of you. >> That is whatever. >> Okay. Speak to all three of you. Hold on to this real quick. Okay. All right. So, what's going to happen right now? Y'all going Jeff? >> All three of you. Okay. So, we'll start off. All >> three of them. >> All three of you. All right. What? >> Well, well, I need my purse. >> So, if you have a big purse, it's going to get inventory. You can only take small items down to the county jail. So, I need you to turn around for me. >> Put your hand behind your back, man. You got to get off the phone, please. >> The three women, two of whom are mother and daughter, were all placed in handcuffs. Surprisingly, they were cooperative and there was little resistance and no shouting and no drama. For these ladies, it was almost like an average day out. >> Take them to the PD and then call for my notes. Oh, we're going to leave this to where >> I'm going to lock them so they don't get tighter. You >> have a medical condition. I'm not going to say no. Okay. I appreciate >> you. No, >> I need my stuff with me cuz I have my car keys, my house key as well. >> That stuff can go down, don't you? All right. >> So, I have >> I know it's not that. I'm going to crank the AC up. All right. I just need you to sit all the way in. >> I got to take one. >> We got to take it. You're not holding that. >> I'm going to roll the window down. All right. Hey, I'm going to crank my skill. You're not going to >> Notice how two of the women are wearing dresses that are orange and the third one's wearing black and white stripes. It was almost like they got dressed for jail already. >> All right, ladies. What's going to happen? Also, they want your trespass, too. We can't come back to this Walmart, man. I'm going to find out about you. >> I [ __ ] with you if you want me to. >> Yeah, I'm going to have you stay out here. Just hang out until we move out of here. All right. Come over here, ma'am. >> Yeah. for the 27A. You can do all of that at the PD. >> Yeah, I'll bring it back to them. I had to go get other stuff, though. >> Am I going to be able to have my phone? I don't know any numbers. >> They'll let you take out numbers down at the county jail. >> This is Wow. All right. >> Take a seat, man. >> Can y'all loosen my dress real quick? >> Can y'all loosen this part? >> Just I get put on top. Thank you. >> Thank you. You're >> welcome. So, as of right now, all three of them are going to go to the police department. He has to do paperwork. It's going to take a while. >> It's three arrests. >> Can I get the address? So, where I have to come pick them up from or >> you got to pick them up at the branch jail. >> This is tight on those county branch Jail. >> Oh, where the regular jail is that? >> As for the fourth woman, she was given a trespass notice and they were all given a warning to not return to that particular Walmart. Open up that so the AC can [ __ ] >> Huh? >> I said I'm going to open up that window so the AC could hit you. >> All right, ma'am. So, I know you weren't in the store, but if you want you trespassed also. >> Okay. >> All right, >> that's fine. >> So, trespass. I don't know if you explain trespass to you. >> I know what it is. I just can't come back >> for a year. All right. >> They were taken to County Branch Jail, and all three women were charged with felony grand theft. Most shoppers just want to grab what they need and head to the checkout. However, that doesn't apply to these dumb thieves. Due to their stupidity, not only were they forced to leave empty-handed, but also in the back of a squad car. With excess cameras and highle security, no amount of excuses or acting dumb was going to convince these cops that they were innocent.
