Just like >> we'll see. >> No, no, >> it's just like waking up in like in like a shock. You like, >> "All right, don't move." All right. >> I also mean broken. >> The car had been reported stolen. The identity the suspect gave was fictitious. Officers eventually uncovered his legal name, registered as male, and confirmed he had no authorization to be in the vehicle. The suspect's entire story about being homeless, just looking for a place to rest, began to unravel the moment officers checked the VIN and matched it with theft reports. The defendant was originally charged with two felonies, obstruction of an officer causing a soft tissue injury and battery to a law enforcement officer, both classified as class H felonies. On September 30th, 2024, the defendant plead guilty to the obstruction charge, while the battery charge was dismissed by the prosecutor. As part of the final judgment, only the obstruction charge led to a conviction. The court sentenced the defendant to 60 days in the House of Correction and ordered him to submit a DNA sample with all related fees waved due to financial hardship. As a result of the felony conviction, the defendant is now permanently prohibited from owning firearms, ammunition, body armor, or explosives, and he cannot vote until his civil rights are formally restored.
