on July 22nd 2024 officers with the De Moines's Police Department executed a warrant issued by the US Marshalss to apprehend Serenity Melton Garza a known drug dealer acting on information about her location officers proceeded to her residence to carry out the operation all right what's your name carmen carmen yeah is this girl's name uh where's D where's your friend who are you on the phone with my mom where's Dar at you just dropped her off i dropped her off okay what's your internet um she lives in the in the top okay can you tell her to come back down she doesn't have a phone she doesn't have a what some cops just rolled up on me thinking that I'm somebody else i think which which unit does she live in you said what i am staying on the phone which which unit does she live in i don't know what unit she lives in you just dropped her off right is she coming back down or she staying up there i was just talking to my mom so I didn't start driving off yet okay so I just dropped her off okay so am I good you guys hold on sarah let me call bro or just ask me questions which unit does she live in i don't know the unit i just gave her a ride we came We We've met with you before in here don't belong to her no it was parked go ahead go ahead run the place it does not belong to her this is not her vehicle okay hang on upon arrival at the apartment complex the officers encountered a woman who had recently dropped off Serenity at her apartment this woman however denied any association with Serenity and became defensive when questioned by the officers but they didn't expect the series of obstacles that would stand in their way she repeatedly argued with the officers questioning their reasons for conducting what she perceived as an intrusive investigation despite her resistance the officers decided not to pursue the questioning further and left her at the scene choosing instead to proceed to the apartment where Serenity was believed to reside as the officers approached the apartment they encountered a man outside the entrance they began an initial investigation by questioning him regarding Serenity's presence and activities seeking any information that could assist in locating their target their focus remained on executing the warrant and after a brief interaction the officers entered the apartment complex to find Serenity um I'm in a parking lot we've dealt with them before i just don't know chaffy Road apartment the driver it's driving what's your name carmen yeah carmen what's your last name carmen it's your birthday so my DHS right huh we're out here for D with DHS right no not for me ever not for you no I You guys have never been here for DHS for me with DHS not for you but for your friend right huh yeah okay just under arrest am I again unreal once inside they eventually locate a woman matching Serenity's description upon being confronted Serenity attempted to flee demonstrating her intent to evade capture her resistance escalated as she began yelling and screaming loudly refusing to comply with the officer's commands despite their verbal efforts to deescalate the situation her behavior grew more erratic and defiant what happened next would push the officers to make a decision they weren't prepared for recognizing the potential risk of her escaping or causing harm the officers decided to use physical measures to subdue her they attempted to lay her down to restrain her but she continued to resist fiercely her screams echoing throughout the apartment dude you you guys are looking to hide out her I'm assuming so yeah is she here no where she just Yeah she just did but she literally just took off i don't know if she's seen you guys heard you guys i have no idea okay we just wanted to talk to her i was trying to get her stuff out of her apartment because she evicted evicted yep and my mom's name's on it so I'm trying to help her out she's in Hawaii until the weekend you come in and look and make the patrol vehicle Serenity was transported to the narcotics unit where officers began a detailed questioning process the purpose of this interrogation was to gather information about her previous criminal activities and to establish her connection to any ongoing illegal drug operations the officers aimed to confirm her involvement in drug possession and distribution and to identify any additional individuals or networks associated with her criminal activities during this phase Serenity's criminal record was thoroughly reviewed and her responses were cross-referenced with the evidence gathered during the investigation still pouring out um yeah yeah hold on hold on we're just watching it you're good you don't need an ambulance no i love you go with my mom go with my mom go
