ON MARCH 4TH, 2024, minutes before midnight, two Marquette University Police Department officers were dispatched to McCabe Hall for a trespassing complaint. Moments later, officers spotted the suspect, a black male in a green hoodie, pretending to be a student, walking away from the building. Hey, can I talk to you man? Can I talk to you for a second? ONE OF THE OFFICERS ATTEMPTED TO STOP HIM BY tackling him to the ground, but the man managed to not only get back up, but also punch the officer in the head with a closed fist. Let's get another call responding. Uh 38-year-old black male. He was tased and sprayed. There you go. We got him in custody. The suspect continued to keep his arm pinned tightly under his body. Officers grew increasingly suspicious that he might be concealing a weapon along his waistline, leaving them no choice but to pepper spray him directly in the face to gain compliance. When the fire department arrived, they medically cleared him on scene and then transported him to the nearest medical center for full clearance. All right, so you're going to give us your name? My name is Bella. I work here in the ER. I'm one of the providers. What happened? I was just running. You're running? Yeah. How come? I thought I was late. Oh, okay. What were you up to tonight? Do you think that's why maybe you're seeing things? Yeah. Okay. And then what happened with the police? They thought I was chasing them. An officer on foot. >> [snorts] >> And you guys kind of got into it. Okay. Anything hurting right now? No? Okay. After extensive questioning, the suspect still refused to confirm his name, giving nonsensical answers, and appearing possibly under the influence of drugs. Eventually, officers were able to identify him as 34-year-old Freddy. He was charged with trespassing, battery or threat to a law enforcement officer, and resisting and obstructing an officer. However, due to his erratic behavior, unstable mental state, and inability to answer basic questions, he was not interviewed. And that wraps up the chaotic night that started as a simple trespassing call and spiraled into a full-on confrontation. What do you think?
