Her boyfriend was asking police to drop the charges, but there was a problem. A judge had already ordered the two of them to stay away from each other. And before that even became an issue, Carmen had already given officers plenty to deal with. >> You guys are in a multi-million dollar lawsuit with me. That's over $10 million. You are a pun in the story, just so you know. >> Hey guys, on the night of this incident, officers were called to Joy Land, a country bar in Florida, after a disturbance involving Carmen and her boyfriend. When officers arrived, they found the couple inside the bar and began trying to figure out exactly what had happened. The boyfriend had an injury. The officers needed to hear both sides before deciding how to handle the complaint. Carmen had her own version of events and was not exactly shy about sharing her thoughts with the officers. Well, let's see how a night at a country bar ended with a battery arrest and a court order that made things even more complicated. >> My girlfriend had a confrontation with a few girls. Like, she's been drinking a lot. Punched me in the mouth. Your girlfriend punch you in the mouth. >> Yeah. >> Or someone else punch you in the mouth. >> My girlfriend >> got you right. >> All right. >> We're just waiting for you. >> What happened? >> 17. >> What do you mean? What happened? >> Are you okay? >> Yeah, I'm good. >> You need EMS? You look You got a little cut on your leg. >> You're bleeding. >> Yeah, my friend. She just >> like acting a little bit crazy. >> Don't touch it. Don't touch it. You don't want to dirty it up. >> No, it's okay. Fine. >> How long y'all been dating? >> Uh, about a year. >> A year. Do y'all live together? >> No. >> Do you need EMS to look you check you off for that? >> I mean, what do you think? I'm fine. >> It's up to you. I don't >> Honestly, like I don't know if I want to press charges right now or give any talk to her. >> Is there a reason that you're here right now? Am I like concerning people? >> Uh, yeah. You're being detained because you punched your some girl in the face up front. >> No, I didn't. I did not punch a girl in the face. >> Okay, that's what we're being told. So, you can't leave right now. >> Uh, I did not punch a girl in the face at all. >> Okay. So, what did happen? >> Uh, literally nothing happened with the girl and literally have not punched a girl in the face at all. >> Okay. >> You can check the camera footage. >> We will. We're not going to act on anything without >> Yeah. >> investigating. Okay. >> It seems suspicious for sure. >> What's your middle name? I don't need to give you any information right now. You actually you actually do have to identify yourself. No, >> actually you have to you have to identify I did identify myself. You guys are >> What's your last name? >> You want to look me up? You guys are under an investigation. >> I can't look you up if I don't know who you are. You're the suspect. >> Before you interrupt me, you guys are under an investigation for a multi-million dollar lawsuit with police department. >> Okay. How much have you had to drink tonight? >> Two coronas. >> All right. What's your name? A while ago. >> What's your name? You're going to look at my arm in your 361. >> You have a body cam on. >> Yes. >> I see a flashlight. Do you have a camera on? >> Yes, I have my body camera on. >> So, why did your girlfriend hit you? She's had a lot to drink. >> Ma'am, the officers were asking for your last name, not opening a Supreme Court hearing. The funniest part was watching her argue by the body camera while the officer calmly explained that his camera was already recording. At this point, everyone seemed to have like their own different stories about what had happened. >> There was a few girls that smiled at me, waved. She got confrontational with them. I don't really want to put her through the whole legal system. She's drunk. I'm just going to break up with her and be done with her and like let her get away. >> What's your last name? >> You guys have a multi-million dollar lawsuit. >> Are you going to give me your name? >> I already told you that. >> I know what your first name is. I need your entire name. >> I already told you all that information. >> No, you didn't. You said your name was Carmen. What's your middle name? >> Yes, I did. Go ahead and look me up. You guys are in a multi-million dollar lawsuit with me with the police department. >> We'll go get her name from you >> because you walked into my house. >> They kicked her out. She came up and just like punched me right in the face like right now. Like I'm sure you can see my my lips. I don't want anybody to go to jail. Like I think she's drunk. >> They said that I would that I punched him in the face cuz that's a lie. Like all the body camera footage. >> Okay. What happened to your What happened to your leg? Why are you bleeding? >> I just went to go meet my friend and she was like, "We're going inside." And I was like, "Okay." And I walked right here. Yeah. And they jumped into a random girl's car and tried to take make her take you somewhere. >> Drive. I didn't drive. I have no vehicle. >> You jumped into some random girl's car and asked her to take you somewhere. >> No, I have no vehicle. >> All right. Well, we'll find out who you are here in a second. Don't worry about it. >> I literally What is wrong with you guys? I have been through this game before. You guys are in a multi-million dollar lawsuit with me because of um usurping authority over me, because of um negligence, because of breaking the law. Just so that you know, you are a pawn. You are a pawn in a story. Just so you know. Ask them for the video camera footage. You say you have probable cause. I get it. Ask them for the video footage. Ask them if I did anything. >> I don't want to in the state of Florida because you've been dating for an extended period of time. >> If you don't mind, I have to start recording. >> Go for it. Go for it. >> I know if that's you, just for like legal purposes. >> Yeah. No, go for it. It's all within your legal right. I'm recording, too. >> I believe >> I will walk with you. Go get the video footage. >> I don't care what you believe. Go get the video footage. Get probable cause that I actually broke a law and then come talk to me. I'm dead serious. You guys are in a multi-million dollar lawsuit with me that's over $10 million in April. Okay, this is a game. They are playing a game with you. You are a pawn. Just so [clears throat] that you know, you are a pawn. And I respect police officers. I respected them my whole life. I've done events with you guys in Portland, Oregon, and lots of other places. And I have had police officers there with me. >> Honestly, asking the officers to check the cameras was reasonable. But turning every basic question into a cold room speech was not helping anything move along. >> They are intimidated because I have actual probable cause. They broke into my house when they had no authority to be there. They had no body camera footage. and they assaulted me and they called a dog on me when I wasn't resisting arrest. That is why you were here today because somebody apparently lied about me and said I assaulted somebody. Go get the video footage and ask if somebody actually assaulted me. I knew exactly what you guys were doing when you did it. I heard the police call. I heard it. >> I think it would be best if I just like end it with her and let her do her thing. I don't want to be responsible for anyone to feel. drunk or not. Drunk's not an excuse. >> I understand that. >> I don't care how much you've been drinking. >> I just don't want that on my conscience. You know what I mean? >> Say she never been arrested. This would be a wakeup call to her. Be like, "Oh, maybe I should take not >> Well, she's been arrested multiple times." >> Okay. >> Ask them for actual evidence. Ask them for evidence. You've seen nothing. You're going off of what you are told, just like they did before. Ask them what you are told because if you don't, I will sue you like I did everybody else. I'm not threatening you, but I will sue you like I did everybody else. You will end up losing your job. Not because you're not a good police officer, but because they care about their money. Ask them for the veto footage. >> She's on house arrest. I went to prison for probably a year. Is that hers or what? What the hell was that? >> Yeah, it's her hair. She has extensions. One of them came out. Okay. >> I'm swear to you. I swear to you, they gave me nine tickets. They tried putting me in jail. They gave me nine tickets when I had no criminal record. I have had no criminal record. They tried putting me in jail because my fiance was the president of the Republican party [snorts] and he paid people. Go ask them. Ask them for actual footage. Ask them for any evidence that they possibly have. I'm dead serious. Ask them. And then you are more than welcome to arrest me on probable cause. But until then, you have no probable cause. >> Okay. So, what are we here for today? Uh, you guys are here apparently because of what he told me, which was that I assaulted some girl in a bar, which is a lie. >> I don't want to be held responsible for her like a year in prison. You know what I mean? >> It's not your fault. She shouldn't have punched you. >> I know that. >> Are you here with your friends? >> I'm not here with anybody right now. No, I'm not. >> Yeah, my friend. She just like I just went to go meet my friend and she was like, >> I have literally no girlfriends here. So for somebody to say that I assaulted them is a lie. >> Oh my god, she's absolutely unbearable. She thinks that she really is smarter than everyone around her. Dude, get away from her right now. Oh my god, this girl seriously doesn't know when to stop talking. Joy land. Go ask them for the video footage. Like literally, what is wrong with you guys? Go ask them for the video footage. They can pull it. It takes 2 seconds. I have so many friends that are in business. I'm an entrepreneur. Go ask them for the video footage. It takes us what? 20 minutes, 30 minutes, and if you're wrong, they're going to come after you. When I sue everybody, it's going to come after you. Seriously, I didn't assault. I literally did not assault a single girl tonight. Ask them for the video footage. They're lying to you. And he goes, "Oh, I see the cut on your leg." I'm like, "That was there literally before I even got here." Like, now that he's figuring out that, "Oh, she's not in jail." He's really just backing up on it. He's like, "I don't want to talk anymore. I don't want to talk anymore." And would you be willing to let us take a picture of your lip? >> No. Okay. All righty. Do you need anything else from us? >> I'm good. >> Okay. Thank you. All right. Have a good night. Yeah. We're here tonight. Yeah. >> We don't just >> You're not detaining me because you have no proof at all. >> We don't just harass people for no reason. So called us over here. >> You don't. And you have no right to detain me. You haven't IDed me. And you have no reason at all to detain me. I am not unintelligent. You guys have no reason to detain me. You have not IDed me and you have not proven that I have broken any crime. So leave me the alone because I know. Sorry. I'm so sorry. But I'm not fighting against you. I'm fighting against the system and I know exactly what they're doing. And here he comes to step in. You have no right to detain me. You have not IDed me. You have no proof of anything at all. >> I'm going to read you this before I talk to you. >> No, you're not reading my Miranda rights because you do not have any legal reason. Do you want to lose your job because I'm in a $10 million lawsuit with the Sarasota County? >> What does it look like the other person? >> Look at the video footage and ask them what I actually did. >> Her boyfriend says that she hit him in the face. >> Look at the video footage and say what I actually did. >> Okay. Well, you don't want to talk. So, we're going to go off. >> Is your boyfriend the person in that Republican party? Is it the same person? >> No. No. >> Is this your actual boyfriend or is just a friend? I don't know who you guys are talking about, so I I have literally no idea how to answer that question. >> We're going to go on the team. >> Congrats. You're going to lose your job like everybody else. >> Sometimes the best response is simply letting the evidence speak. You know, I promise you, she probably made a lot of people's lives miserable in high school, and she may be doing the same today still. You know, she's awful inside and out. So annoying, man. There's no way I could put up with her for a whole year. >> I'm in a multi-million dollar lawsuit with the Sarasota County Police Department, just so you know. And you are a pawn. >> Yeah, we're not Sarasota County. >> You're in Northport? >> No. Do you know where you're at? >> No. I No. >> Well, this is my office. Yeah. >> Oh, okay. Is that the guy? >> Your boyfriend? >> This I don't have a boyfriend. >> You want to check the text on my phone? That's fine. That's fine. I got a good ass attorney. Subpoena the text on my phone. I have no boyfriend. I don't know who the hell you guys are talking about right now. You're not searching me. >> Why? You're under wrestler. You're going to get searched. >> You're not searching me. >> Find your base. >> You are not searching. A woman can search me, but you're not searching me. >> Did you get positive >> on her? >> Did you? Yeah. >> No. >> No. >> No. She don't want to identify herself. >> You have no identification on me. You're literally >> You're don't even know who just asked you questions. >> You don't even know who just asked you questions and you are trying to detain me. >> You're not serious. At this point, you're not >> Do you know that been arrested for several several things? >> Look up Washington State. >> Look up what he did 9 months ago >> that he tried to get >> We're here for what happened tonight ago >> for what you heard happened tonight. You have no proof. You have no problem. >> You're not cooperating. So, we're going to go with what we >> This is not a matter of not cooperating. Wow. You guys are not doing your You guys are not doing your due diligence, are you? You are just a bunch of pongs. Make sure you have your video footage on the last police officer. Wow, guys. Wow. Like seriously, you have actually no probable facts. Can you arrest me? You have literally nothing at all. You have no ID. >> Do you have anything on your bra? >> I'm not on anything. >> It's a sticky, bro. I have nothing. >> I didn't hear anything you said. >> I'm not on drugs. I've done nothing wrong. >> Can you take off your victim here? >> They made allegations about me and they lied about a pond. Did he confirm their relationship though? >> He said they've been dating for a year. >> That's fine. Let them prove that in court. >> There's no witnesses. They have zero proof. They're accusing me of something I didn't do. So, they want you to find somebody that's a witness cuz they have nobody. And they're trying to accuse me of a crime that I did not commit. Go ahead, find somebody. And then also get your video footage. Don't get witnesses. get your video footage because if I end up in jail for several weeks, >> we're trying to help you out. >> No, you're not helping me out. >> So dumb. She doesn't even know that there's more than one police department. Dude, you deserve better. Good for you. She's heading for a lot more trouble if she keeps up with this. This is what happens when you grow up thinking that you're the main character online. No self-awareness, no understanding of real life. >> Like your shoes. >> Look up Look up my actual information and look up. No, I don't want my shoes back on. >> She's good. I would like to leave jail with my shoes on to be honest with you, but maybe you can bring them with me and all my other information. >> Take the car footage before you take you anywhere. Just stay quiet. >> Take some photos of me. No, I'm demanding that you take some photos of me before you arrest me for all my injuries that you claim that I have. >> Taking photos. >> Oh, no. Hell no. I've done this before. No, I know my rights. Take some photos. Get in the car. >> I don't care if you think that I'm detained. You are young and you don't know what you're doing. Take some photos of me before you detain me. You're taking photos of me. Please watch your head. >> I am not resisting arrest. Take some photos of me. Take some photos. Take some photos. Watch your legs. Just close. >> Did you guys see what happened? >> I did. Her and the boy that she was with uh they started arguing and she started pushing him and so our security jumped in and grabbed her by her shoulders and was trying to walk her out. She was fighting back with our security uh pushing our security. The guy was still inside and she ran back up to him and said you and then decked him in the face. >> Okay. Is there a camera that catches that angle of where it happened? No, there is not. >> But you saw it happen. >> I did see it happen. We had uh multiple people that saw it. >> But then did they tell you about how she ran out back, ran into somebody's car as well? >> Yes. That's how I found her. She ran to a random person's car and asked for a ride and they told her no and then >> Oh. in. Like actually got jumped into somebody's car and got in and locked the door. Yeah. She offered her $100 to give her a ride home. >> She's going to be banned from uh the facility. >> Have you ever trespassed anybody? >> I have not. >> Okay. So, you're going to explain to her that she can't return for a year. If she returns, she's subject to arrest. >> Okay. >> I have to explain that she's going to be subject to arrest. >> Well, just tell her she can't go back for a year. If you don't want to explain the arrest, I'll I'll explain to her the criteria for the trespass. If she talks back, it is what it is. >> Hi. So, you're no longer going to be allowed here for at least a year. Okay. >> If you come back, you're subject to arrest within the year. You understand? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Ask for a relation. >> Can you check if there's footage? >> Ask for I can definitely ask for the relationship. Sure. Ask text messages. Oscar for text message. >> You're going to have a fun ride up to the jail. >> Oh, this is one of those cases I just flash music. Song of choice. >> I'm not going to be petty about it. Give them their song of choice and take them out. >> What a deeply unpleasant [music] person. Like, you can't just blame it all on the booze. The triumph of confidence over intelligence. Well, these officers deserve an award for just listening to her try to sound smart and more importantly for having the patience to deal with all that nonsense. >> Where is the person that accused me >> with the other deputies? >> If you don't do your job and I sue them for millions of dollars like I'm already doing, you have literally no legal right to detain me. >> You're not detained anymore. You're under arrest. >> You're have no idea who I am. >> We'll find out. >> So, what's your uh what's your full name? >> You guys have no legal reason to attain. >> Yeah, we do. No, you don't. You have literally no legal proof. >> Do you want us to explain why you're in handcuffs right now? >> You want me to give it to you the hard way? Because you guys are under a multi-million dollar lawsuit. Sarasota County. >> Okay. Well, that's okay cuz we're in Manatee County, so that doesn't really matter to us. >> If you're going to identify yourself, it's going to be another charge. Do not make it harder for yourself, please. We're trying to help you out. >> You guys, I'm I'm like literally begging you. >> Do you hear what I'm saying? You need to give us your full head. >> Do you guys realize that I was I was the girlfriend of the president of the Republican party? Do you realize that I know my rights? So, >> what I'm telling you guys, listen to me. >> Honest evaluation. >> Mhm. >> Literally tell me exactly what I did and and prove it to me. You have no probable cause at all because what they are saying, what what whoever is saying is a lie. And you know, you know, so you know what happened? You were >> No, I don't know what h No, I actually don't know what happened. No, I know that somebody is lying about me. >> Okay. >> Holy crap. >> Everybody has it out for you in this club, right? You don't want to identify yourself. If we don't have your ID, >> then you are getting millions of dollars. >> Shush. >> If we don't have your ID, then you sit in jail until we can find out who you are. >> I don't care about your threats because the fact of the matter is that look at my arm. I spent a month in jail while they illegally called a cop dog on me because they walked into my house and they usurped their authority over my second amendment right and my fourth amendment right and my sixth amendment right and they're in a multi-million dollar lawsuit. If you actually want to look up information on me, then I suggest that you actually do your full research. >> We don't know how to because you won't give us your information. >> Not only are you guys not because I'm not stupid. You guys are not only not making sense, but you're not even looking into the fact of the matter. >> Well, county dog. >> Look at my arm. >> What county did that happen in? >> I don't need to answer any of your questions. Look at my arm. >> You're making it worse for yourself. >> Oh, no. I'm not. That's a threat. And you guys are making it worse for yourself. You have illegally detained me. >> No, we haven't. I have no identity on me. The reality is that you guys don't have a video on me. >> Some people just love having confrontations, right? Her mouth is running faster than her brain can keep up with it. >> Good luck with that. Stand by so I can put the seat belt on her. Sit back real quick. I'm going to put the seat belt on you. >> Let me talk. I'm not Okay, let me >> I need to put the seat belt on. Can you let me put the seat belt on you, please? >> Thank you. >> Let me Let me talk for a second. Put your head back, please. >> You said that I was detained because I assaulted a woman. Yes. >> Nope. >> That's what he said. It's on video footage and he said that he had a body cam. >> She just yapping. She's trying to find something uh multi-million dollar or whatever. >> Is there a specific song you want me to play? >> On the way to the jail. >> You're not going to play the song. Let me use my freedom of speech. This is on camera. >> Yeah. I don't >> Do you want to put your boots on? >> I don't have boots. >> I have them with I have them in the front seat. >> Okay. So, are you wanting to drop charges? You don't want the anybody to proceed with the case or what did you want to do? >> Right. Yeah. I want to drop the charges to make sure that >> they don't. So, um, my lieutenant said that you have to wait until state attorney gets a hold of you. So, they'll be able to drop charges essentially. It's not going to be up to us. So, with the state, okay, >> right now, she can't have any contact with you. He or she can't have any contact with you at all per judge's order. Uh, on Monday, >> the boyfriend asking to drop charges didn't automatically end the criminal case, right? In many cases, a victim can tell prosecutors that they no longer want to participate, but the prosecutor usually decides whether the case continues. The officer also explained that a judge issued a no contact order, so they couldn't simply contact each other because one person changed their mind. And under statutory battery codes and judicial order enforcement standards, [music] a victim's request to drop charges cannot overrule active state prosecution or courtordered no contact conditions. Well, this bar disturbance ties directly into Florida statutory battery provisions under section 784.03 and state pre-trial release and probation violation standards. Enacted to address domestic and interpersonal violence, state law dictates that [music] non-consensual physical contact causing bodily harm constitutes criminal battery. Furthermore, Florida appellet courts have consistently affirmed that criminal charges are prosecuted solely on behalf of the state of Florida rather than individual victims. Consequently, a victim's request to drop charges does not compel dismissal, especially when an active courtordered no contact condition under section 903.047 or probation mandates being breached. Carmen was charged with battery and with violating parole from a previous battery charge involving a law enforcement officer. These are reported charges from the incident and should not be treated as a finding of guilt. The lesson here is simple. Once police are investigating a possible crime, arguing with officers or demanding that someone drop the charges doesn't automatically make the case [music] disappear. A no contact order can also limit communication between the people involved. Even if one person later wants to talk again, well, the safest move is to follow the court order and let legal process handle the rest. Do you think Carmen's non-stop arguing helped her situation or made things worse? Let me know in the comments. And if you enjoy this body cam, hit like and subscribe and turn on notifications.
