On February 20th, 2024, deputies in Florida got a call from a mother reporting that her daughter had stolen her phone and transferred cash from her bank account using Cash App. While responding to the scene, a deputy spotted the daughter walking along the roadside. Here's what the deputy did next. [Music] Here out of the road. Oh, can you call her and tell her to give my stuff? We're going to figure everything out. She said she's hanging up the phone if I give her stuff. Boom. Give it. Give it to her. And so that Hey, what? Stay over here. No. Or you're going to go in cuffs. Why? Because we're investigating something right now. So, let's go to them then. Can we go there then? No, we're going to stay right here. But they're not here. That's is involving them. I have another person that's going over there. Step out of the road. Can you please call her? I have someone over there right now. I need to talk to her. [Music] I have someone over there right now. That's great. But I need to talk to her. Okay. Yeah. Are you crazy? Why? I don't have anything on me. Hey. Hey. Whoa. Why am I here? Come on. Please stop. You're going to get a charge. You hear him? Stop. Stop. Can you just go? Oh my god. Wa. Can you please just go over? I just want If you will work with us, I am trying. We will try. No, you're not working with us. Oh my god. Ow. Can you please stop us? Stand right here, please. No, you're going in. Oh my god. It's too late for negotiation now. I just want to talk to her. Please, please. Please, please. I just wanted to hurt me. Ow. You You guys are really hurting my arm for real. I didn't even want to. I'm not going anywhere. I'm handcuffed. Oh my god. Get the off me. You're hurting me. No. Please. I just want to stand. Please. I just want to stand still. Ah, please. All right. You're hurting. We're going to have a seat in my truck. I don't care. Well, I'm not going nowhere. He's going to double lock them so they don't squeeze on you. Stop acting like a child. I want to hold you. I need it all. Okay, I understand that. And I told you that we could try and work make that work. But you want to walk away from me and that's not happening. And you just go there with me, please. Don't worry. We will. When like this is so unnecessary. This is ridiculous. Step in. I can't. You're on me. I can't get up. Where? Hold on. Yeah. Do you have anything on you? No. Ow. What? Cut. It's not a search. Sure. What's in your pocket right here? Change and everything. You just throw it in my bag. I don't really know. Do you mind taking it out? Yeah. Go ahead. Dump it. I'm not going nowhere. Why you grabbing me so hard? I don't feel good. Can you please stop grabbing me so hard? I'm not going nowhere. I just want you to bring me there real quick. Have a seat for me. Are we going there? Just get in the truck. Have a seat. Stop pushing me so hard. You're real rude. I'm trying, [ __ ] Trying. You're yanking me back in [ __ ] put my back camera on. So, what happened? She yesterday she stole my phone and I didn't realize it till late in the afternoon and I She's done it before and she's cashed out herself before. So then when I realized she took my phone, I was looking for her, calling her. Bring my phone home. Don't take any money out of my bank account. She took $200 out of my bank account. She lied to me. Said she didn't have my phone. So, I've been looking for her since yesterday. And now I pulled up here because I know this homeless guy here. And sure enough, that car was over there and she was with the homeless people. And I said, Lauren, all I want is my phone. She's banging on my I said, "All I want is my phone. Just give me my phone back." And I said, "And another thing, you're going to jail for stealing my phone cuz she really needs a rehab. Can we tell the lawyer?" I said, "Is your phone? Mom, can you come here, please? Mom. Mom. Mom. No. Put your hand. Please. Come here. Please sit back. No. Mom. Mom. Get in the truck. Get in the truck. Shut the door. Go get prosecution cuz she's going to jail. Can I get a statement? Yeah. See if she'll do one. Yeah. Yeah, I want to do a statement, but can I do that March me thing where they'll send it to a rehab? Yeah. So, she wants to make a rehab. I understand. Um, you said the phone has happened in the past, right? She's always taken my phone and cashed out herself, but she never stole it. Yesterday, she stole it. She took $200 out of my account, which the money I'm not concerned about. She really needs help. Okay. Cuz she has a 5-year-old daughter that I got to go to the school. And we can't provide her the help that you you think we can give her. The only help that we can give her is is if she has a criminal, which she's obviously done something criminal now. So if you want to prosecute on charges, I want to prosecute her and then I want to go to court and I want talk to the judge. All you got to do is look at her arms. So the dispatcher said something about someone being hit. Yeah, she hit me before. She want She didn't want to give me my phone and then she took my phone. She hit me in the She punched me in the back. In the back. And I'm not going to even raise my hands and kick her ass because I know she will slaughter me. Okay. So, do you uh do you want to provide a statement on what happened today? Mhm. Okay. She really needs to go to rehab. Do me a favor and go stand behind my truck so she can't see you. Let me just open the door. I won't get on the door, please. No. Can you just bring over here? move. It's definitely not an iPhone, but still probably 1,300 bucks today's phone rate. Yeah. Oh, I have to figure all that out. Yes, ma'am. And then you write your narrative. Do not sign until one of us is in your presence. Okay. Um, and for the narrative, just exactly what happened today. If you want to throw in that she stole your phone yesterday, that would also help. Um, what's the what's the cost of your phone? I don't know. 200 something dollars. 200 something dollars. It's not a big deal. Yeah. Thank you. Um, can you pull up the uh statement from your cash app to show this? Yeah, I just I did it today cuz yesterday was a holiday, but I cancelled it yesterday and she tried to take out more, but it was card was cancelled and I called them to verify that everything was cancelled today and sent me a new card and they're sending me a new card. So, you want me to ask them for something? No. Can you pull up on your on your Cash App app and show the transaction? Yeah, it'll pull up my account. Does it does it go to account that's in her name or is it a No, but she's on my cash app. So, whenever I had to cash app her money or give her money when she wasn't home, I would cash app her to that specific account to to that account number. Okay. [Music] If you just want to notate that in this, if you run out of room, just let us know. We have a secondary form that you can fill out the rest of the information. Okay? So, don't worry about running out of room and trying to fit it on the back or anything like that. We have extra forms for you. [Applause] Um, if you want to just work on the statement right now and uh go through with that process, we'll work on the phone stuff in just a second. All right. You cancelled the card or the account? I cancelled the card. Okay. But it's not letting me in. I don't know why. There's my come out of your account at your bank. Yes. Use United Bank. Okay. Do you have access to your checking account or whichever account that came out of account number? What's that? Actual account number. The Chase account number. Chase account number. Tell her she has a check in her in her bag. A check from the checking account. That would have the account number for the cash app account. Okay. If you go to your bank account itself, you can see the money being not cash app. Your bank account your actual I'm trying to get into the bank account and it's not letting me in. Oh, because they probably give her I have my account number. What? We'll just document it. They want to see the cash app transaction, but it's not letting me in. So, here's what we'll do. just continue with your statement here. We'll document what happened and you already said you're going to go and talk with the attorney and stuff like that that's going to be prosecuting the case, right? So, you can get with them and they can request that information and hopefully by then your account will be unfrozen and you'll be able to access it. Okay, I'll unfreeze it now, right? I can unfreeze it now or do I have to wait for the new card? I don't know why it's not letting me in. Just plug it in. Just breathe. Everything is okay. Yeah, everything's fine. You don't have to cry. Okay. All you got to do is call the bank and tell them you got your phone back, right? You retreat your phone. All right. I'll get rid of it. Look, it's not letting I know cuz it's frozen, babe. The account right now is frozen. Okay. You have to call them up and unfreeze it. Yeah. I'll give you the number. Call them up in your freezer. There's my passcode. Yeah. Say it. Can't find the username and password. Okay. She probably changed it. I don't know what she did. That's Chase. Talk to them. They already know what's going on. So talk to them. I just need your signature right here. Just sign it, babe. You could always get that to them. I need your initials on yes or no if you'd like to prosecute on charges. And then right here is the um it's called Marcy's Law and it'll keep your information private. So on the top is you want to keep your information private. I need your initials. Okay. So is it yes or no? Cuz you you sign both of them. But do you want to keep your information private or no? Yeah. Yeah. So, just initial the top. Okay. All right. Didn't you used to use your fingerprint to get in? No, I used to use my code. Do you have your phone on you? It's not working. This is Chase on the line. You have to talk to Tell them. No, they hung up on it. Hung up. Yeah, we'll do it when we get home. So, here's what we'll do. Okay, we're going to go get a couple pictures of you to show the injuries that you have or don't have. I don't have injuries, but she did talk to me about that. I understand, but we're going to go ahead and take pictures and document that that you don't have any injuries right now. Well, don't be With that being said, she did that, but she she wasn't up. With that being said, do you want to be seen by EMS at all? We just want to afford you that opportunity. It's free for them to come and just check you out. Make sure you're okay. you're okay. So, he's going to grab a couple pictures of you front and back and then uh we're going to submit those. What else we're going to do is we're going to send a link to you. It's called a citizen's link. And what we're going to do is when you get access to your account, you can take a screenshot and you can upload that photo to the website. You understand what I'm talking about? Absolutely. Okay. Yeah. Take it. Yeah. How much? Uhhuh. How much is the damage done to your phone? It had no cracks. It had no cracks. No, it had no crack. It had a little crack on top, but then she threw it at me in the street. Take a picture of her phone. Where did she take the phone from? She took it from me. She woke me up in the morning, asked me for $5. Yesterday, babe. Yesterday. Yesterday. Yeah. She woke me up in the morning. She asked me for $5. And I'm done giving her money. And I said, "I don't have $5." So she reached over to grab the cigarette and at the same time that's when she probably grabbed my phone and I didn't even see it. Was it out of your hand? No, it was laying right next to my bed and I was she still woke me up so I was still half asleep and then she must have grabbed the cigarette and grabbed my phone and I didn't see it. And then later on I was cleaning her place because we're doing a home visit to school. So, I spent all day cleaning and I left my phone near my bed. When I went back, I was like, "Where's my phone, babe?" He was like, "I don't know." And I was like, "That [ __ ] she took my phone again." Right. So, she did when I realized that she did. And I waited a little while. Then when I went to check my account, there was money missing out of my account. And I said, "Lord, just bring my phone home. I don't give a [ __ ] if you never come back. Whatever. I just need my phone." So, she lied and she said she didn't have it. So, we were looking for her all day. When I pulled up over here, I said, "You know what? Let's go to Ike's tent because something just told me, let's go there." So, we went there and I saw that car that she was in for the last past two days and I said, "There's the car." So, he I didn't want to walk because she has this animosity against me cuz I sold the house in New York because of this [ __ ] And so, she hates me. And I said, "You go get my phone, Sammy." So he went over there and she said she didn't have it. So when she started walking back, I said, "Warren, please give me my phone. All I want is my phone." I said, "I won't call the cops. I won't do nothing. Give me my phone." But I knew I was calling the cops because she needs to know there's contact. I won't steal your mother's phone and a cash app. $200. But it's not even the money that I'm worried about. I want her to go for help. I She needs a rehab. And she tells me all the time, "I'm not ready yet. I'm not ready." You have a five-year-old daughter. Why aren't you ready? I understand. And then she'll tell you that I kidnapped her kid. Yeah, I did kidnap her kid when I first came to Florida because I wasn't leaving that kid home with her. She's pretty much to be a mother right now. Oh, she she's out of control. She's not in her right mind. I' I've had that kid. You got pictures of her. I've had that kid since I was one years old. The first year she was a great mom, a great mother, and then she started doing drugs and everything went downhill. So, he's going to he's going to take a couple pictures of you front and back, like I said. And then we're going to send you that link to your phone or your husband's phone, whichever one. I don't know if my phone is broken. It's not working right now. I'll take care of that when I get home. I'm just so upset because I had to call the police. She's going to take a couple photos of you. Okay. She's going to take some pictures of you. And all she did was hit you in the back, right? She punched me in my back and she said, "I'm going to beat your ass. I'm going to kill you." And I started running for my phone. How does that Did that make you scared or what? Yeah, she's very scary. My kid, she's very scary. She can be very violent. When she wants to get high and I don't give her money, she gets very violent. She slams the door. She calls me a [ __ ] and everything. And I'm like, I can't make this anymore. All right, let him take a couple photos of you. Okay, so just face him real quick. [Applause] And then we'll take one from the back once he's ready. Where did she hit you at? She punched me over here. Like over here? Yeah. Down a little bit lower. Right here. Yeah. Okay. Like in the shoulder blade area? Yeah. Okay. All right. So, I think we have your phone number and stuff. So, we'll send you the case link um there. Get her victim's rights. Is this your Is this your phone number? Yes, this is my phone. That's your phone number. We'll send you a link here in just a little bit. You can go ahead and work on getting the uh the statement screenshots and stuff. And once you do that, we'll send you that link. We'll call you after we're done with in at the jail cuz she's going to go down to the jail today. Um keep her there for a while because she really needs help. So, as of right now, she's going to go for um a mental evaluation. They could go for a mental evaluation and then I don't care. I can't force her to go for a mental evaluation, but that's she'll freak out. She'll freak out. That's on her for, you know, to seek out the mental counsel that she can and is and is has the opportunity to to receive in the jail. She doesn't think she needs help. That's what kills me. She doesn't think she needs help. But she's going to go down for domestic battery right now since you are her mother. It is domestic in in in nature, right? So, with that being said, she will be on a hold until 5:00 tomorrow. Okay. And at that point, she has the ability to bond out. And if she has bonded out, you will be notified. Okay? Nobody's going to b I don't know if these homeless people could afford to bond out, but there there are possibly some more charges uh the criminal mischief on your phone and whatnot. Um actually, when he comes back, I just need to put down. How much do you think it would be to fix your phone? I don't know. My husband save 2550 bucks. I don't know. They have to replace the whole screen, I guess. How much do you think it would cost to fix her phone? Oh, no. Uh, no. They would replace it. Probably a couple hundred. Couple hundred. Yeah. Okay. What do you say? Like 100 $200? 200 bucks. 200 bucks. Well, I paid 200 something dollar. I know. That's what I'm saying. They they'll just tell you they're not going to this type of phone. If it was an iPhone, it'd be different. This kind of phone they it cost too much money to take this glass out. They would just replace the phone. It be 200 bucks. You don't have to buy a new phone. You got insurance on it? I don't know. Okay. I think I do. I don't know. All right. So, when he comes back, I just need to put down the value of the phone. The value of the damage and that you already put down that she stole $200 from your cash. Oh, yeah. So, there's possibly some more other charges that she's going to have to face. I'm going to have to consult with uh on the statutes and see if it meets criteria. Okay. Um, and also she'd be in charge of me right now. Domestic battery, right? She punched me in my back and she was coming after me. I know. If I wasn't there, she would have stopped her many of times from hurting her mother many times. I got you. You know, and she gets on drugs. She just I got you. And when she needs a fix or whatever, she she don't care. She don't even care about whatever she has to do. Yeah. Beautiful little girl that I helped raise. I helped raise her when she was five, you know. I She takes everything for granted. I understand. You given her everything. Everything. You know, she never disappointed her. That's I told her all her whole life. I said, "You never say no to her. She has no care for nothing." The only kid I got. I know, babe. [Applause] All right. So, this is a domestic violence pamphlet right here. It also serves as a victim's rights brochure. Um, inside is your rights as a a victim of domestic violence. It goes over all the remedies and stuff like that, some avenues that you can take. On the back here is the sheriff's office phone number. LCSO, that's us. That's your case number. That's the date today. And that's the deputy, this deputy here, Deputy Shepard, that's that's going to be doing all the paperwork on it. Okay. All right. Well, um, when she goes to jail, will they give me her court date? You can call into the to the jail. She won't have one right away, for sure. Okay. So, give it a, you know, give it a day or two. You can call down to the jail and if not the jail, you can call the courthouse itself and ask to see if there's Yeah. 550 West Main Street. I know where it is. And the jail is 551 West Main Street. Okay. Okay. All right. Saying she could get bonded out. I don't think these homeless people could bond her out. Just real quick, can you put on here the value of the phone and then the value to uh the money? No, I wrote that down. I'll show them poof once I get my account back online. You could just do phone and then a colon, you know, $200, whatever you whatever you value your phone at. Whatever it would be to replace your phone and then the damage to phone and whatever you value the damage to the phone. Oh, cracked that whole phone. And what else? What else? What's the dam? What do you value the damage to your phone at? $200, right? So, just put, you know, uh the damage to the phone is approximately or is $200. All right, ma'am. Like I said, we're going to we'll send you that link here in a little bit so you can upload those photos. Send her phone. Her phone. Yes, sir. I could I could uh share it. She can share send it to my phone and then I can correct photos. Correct. All right, guys. Yes, ma'am. Y'all have a better day. All right. The suspect was charged with battery, criminal mischief, theft, and resisting an officer without violence. The suspect was issued a $4,000 bond, which she later posted. In court, the suspect pleaded not guilty to all charges. Her charge of battery was later dismissed, and she was found guilty of the remaining charges. The court sentenced her to time served and ordered her to pay $373 in fines and court costs within 5 days, or her driver's license would be suspended. [Music]
