What's up everybody? So, today we've got a situation that doesn't start with just one incident, right? It actually begins with a pattern of behavior earlier in the day. She'd already been involved in a shoplifting case, and by the time the officers get involved again, it's no longer about a single complaint. It's about everything that's happened leading up to this moment. >> know who this guy is. >> to shut the [ __ ] up and get the [ __ ] off my dick because I will kill you. >> At first it looks like just another disturbance, yeah? Until the earlier incident COMES INTO PLAY. AND WHEN OFFICERS BEGIN TO RECOGNIZE the pattern, their entire approach changes. >> Oh, you're a thief. Do my [ __ ] pennies, [ __ ] Who the [ __ ] are you? This [ __ ] going to get smacked the [ __ ] out of her. Give me Yeah, pull on my [ __ ] in there. Cuz you're not touching it, [ __ ] >> But the moment she refuses to cooperate, that situation takes a completely different turn. Now, without wasting any more time, let's jump straight into the video and see exactly how it all unfolds. >> She here or she at Love's? >> She's here. >> Okay. >> A regular customer woke up to go to work and she was in his car. >> She was in Wait, what was it? She was in someone else's car? >> Yeah. So, he brought her up here because she swears she knows somebody here. Her ride left her here. >> I dealt with her this morning at Love's. She was stealing stuff from Love's. >> Yeah, she's tweaking and under the influence. Talking to herself. >> Oh, yeah. She's got Yeah. >> Now, she's telling customers she wants to Love's. >> Oh. >> Like she's right inside. I let her use her phone. I bought her a Gatorade just to shut her up for a minute, but she's a hot mess. >> No, she is. Yeah. Okay. >> Right away, the fact that she had already been involved in a shoplifting incident earlier that day suggests the situation is rising beyond a simple trespassing issue. Now, the officer has to determine whether she's confused, under the influence, or facing a larger public safety concern. >> What are you doing? >> I knew you were going to say I asked her, asked her, and asked the There was somebody else that said you. Yes. Literally asked asked these two. They really they all >> They bring them everything that I had. >> Okay, this The issue is that you're not paying for stuff this time. >> I did Yes, I know. I was telling them about that. >> You're not banned from here, but you're causing issues here. Who's car were you in earlier? >> One of my friends. >> Who's your friend? Okay. How about then I just arrest you and take you to jail since it doesn't matter? How's that? Cuz it doesn't matter to me either. >> But like >> What's the definition of probable cause? Don't play this game cuz you don't know. You have no idea. I could have arrested you this morning at lunch. >> very very good like Tell me something that I actually did. >> You stole. >> They had that [ __ ] up here. >> Remember the two waters and the Red Bull? Remember that? It's still not yours. >> Okay, my mom works there. >> Your mom doesn't work there. >> My mom was She's one of the managers. >> Okay. All right. So, what's the plan for the rest of the day? You can't just keep walking around town. I'm taking you somewhere. >> I'm literally I'm about to go sit somewhere where I can actually stay. >> Where? >> Not a store. >> Huh? >> Not a store. >> There's nowhere in Atkinson, Illinois where you're going to be able to just stay without causing trouble. >> appreciate it and I don't cause trouble. >> Where'd you get that vape? >> What the [ __ ] does it matter for? >> You didn't have that earlier and last time you Last time you showed me you had 67 cents in your bank account. So, how can you afford a probably $15 vape? >> No. You have that plastic. I've never seen anybody like that. Especially with like these, that's all I'm going to get. That's been like that. I don't care about that. I was thirsty, so I came in, I bought a couple of the drinks, and I got out. >> Okay. She paid for everything here. >> me if I wanted a receipt. I always say no. That's where I [ __ ] up at. That's where y'all get me. [ __ ] up at. Is that >> Quick cussing. You're in public. Go outside. >> I'm a grown ass woman. >> Yeah, exactly. So, you can like one, so quick customer. I mean, you can talk You're acting like a >> I will talk about how I want, about anything and anything I want to talk. That is I I'll talk about how I'll talk about how >> Is that your charger? >> No, the cord is hers. >> Cord is hers. >> Yeah, the cord is hers. >> Her story keeps conflicting with what officers and store employees have already observed throughout the day. When someone's already been connected to earlier incidents and continues causing disturbances, officers [music] tend to focus on the overall pattern instead of just the most recent complaint. Quick customer. I already told you quick customer. >> You're not Are you my mom? Are you my mom? Am I under 18? No, exactly. So, I can do whatever the [ __ ] I want. Thank you. >> So, where are you planning on going? >> Literally anywhere. I'm just trying to have my feet People can pick me the [ __ ] up. I have nowhere to go. I'm still [ __ ] trying to figure this [ __ ] out. >> Okay, so obviously I I told you that I would give you a ride. Which way do you need to go? Towards Chicago or towards Quad Cities? Do you not want a ride? All right. Don't come back to Casey's or you'll be arrested. Sometimes the difference between walking away free and ending in handcuffs comes down to something very simple, [music] whether someone chooses to cooperate while officers are still giving them options. I told her not to come back here or else I'll have to arrest her, so. >> Okay, but yeah, a regular customer brought her here cuz she was >> Oh, sorry. >> Unless you're busy. I'm hungry. >> Do you know who that was? >> I don't know his name. And he said that he didn't want to call the cops cuz he didn't want to look like that. So, and she swore to God she knew me. >> She does. She She's She's got mental issues. I mean, obviously. >> Obviously. >> If she comes back here, give us a call. >> Okay. >> I'm just going to keep my eye on her though and just be in the area. >> Okay. >> Hopefully she It'd be ideal if she'd go to the hospital with me voluntarily, but she's not going to. >> Yes. >> What makes this situation stand out is that the officer recognized the warning signs early on, right? Instead of moving straight into an arrest, he tried to guide the encounter toward a safer outcome and even encouraged her to consider going to hospital voluntarily. Unfortunately, those concerns proved valid. Less than an hour after being told to stay away from the store, additional complaints began coming in. >> I've been dealing with her all day. >> Some people are good. >> You're a [ __ ] My truck's swiped. >> She trying to get in? >> Yeah. >> Don't touch it. Go away. HE AIN'T >> YOU'RE A [ __ ] MOTHER. >> IT'S >> THAT IS MY MOTHER. >> IT'S A GUY. >> THAT'S THAT'S THE PERSON THAT OH, THEY TOLD ME they they can give me >> Go or you're going to go to jail. >> Bro, you're being >> Stop. I don't care what I'm being. Go or you're going to go to jail. >> These are my [ __ ] >> You don't know who this guy is. >> You need to shut the Get the [ __ ] off my dick because I will kill you. I'll [ __ ] kill you. That's big. >> COME HERE. >> YOU'RE A [ __ ] [ __ ] MAKE MY DON'T SQUEEZE MY KIDS SO HARD. AH! AH! AH! AH! AH! AH! NO! STOP! AH! MOM! >> YOU'RE UNDER ARREST. >> STOP >> YOU'RE under arrest. >> [screaming] >> STOP IT, [ __ ] PLEASE! PLEASE! STOP SQUEEZING SO [ __ ] HARD. AH! >> [screaming] >> AH! AH! YOU'RE HURTING ME, YOU'RE HURTING MY STOMACH. NO! AH! >> [screaming] >> AH! AH! AH! NO! NO! AH! AH! >> [screaming] >> AH! YOU WANT OFFICER YOU JUST MANHANDLE ME. MAKE ALL THE CALLS YOU WANT. just put it on my purse. You look at me like this whole thing is a joke to you, isn't it? >> Once that threat is made, the officer's options become a lot more limited. Like what may have started as unusual and disruptive behavior has now become a clear public safety concern, ultimately leading to an arrest. Now, at the same time, the situation takes on a strange and almost chaotic tone with unexpected moments that make it even harder to take everything in clearly. >> You won't get your [ __ ] You won't get your [ __ ] joke with me. You won't get that, [ __ ] Trust me. >> I'm going to jail. >> Okay, YOU KNOW THAT'S WHAT I [ __ ] TOLD THEM. WE'LL BE at the [ __ ] jail. You pissed me off. YOU KNOW YOU DID. YOU [ __ ] HATE ME. TAKE THIS WITH YOU. STOP GRABBING MY [ __ ] HAND LIKE THAT. You literally sweating me. You just put some of my stuff in your [ __ ] You're the biggest joke. Do you not realize that [ __ ] DO YOU NOT REALIZE THAT [ __ ] >> THANKS. >> [ __ ] BIG. YOU'RE A FAT [ __ ] BRO. COME ON. WHY WOULD YOU SIT ON ME? >> THAT'S RUDE. >> I DON'T GIVE A [ __ ] YOU JUST TACKLED ME LIKE A [ __ ] OLD MAN. AND HERE WE GO AGAIN. BACK TO >> WHAT? >> [ __ ] I WANT MY SHOE. GET YOUR [ __ ] [ __ ] I'M WALKING. OKAY. You love [ __ ] the clown, don't you? You love [ __ ] Your favorite movie, huh? Favorite movie, huh? STOP GRIPPING ME LIKE THAT, [ __ ] I'M RIGHT HERE. I AM RIGHT [ __ ] HERE, [ __ ] OKAY. I can't [ __ ] [ __ ] TOUCHING ME LIKE THAT. AND YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO HAVE A GUN IN YOUR HAND, YOU DUMB [ __ ] Are you not That's a man's That's men's duty. Yeah. Women cops can do that [ __ ] >> Cool. I'm not a woman. >> Do you learn [ __ ] ABOUT YOUR JOB THAT you apparently do not? Like learning Like I'm giving you a towel, but You love it. Oh, you you ugly [ __ ] Don't wash it. >> This is a type of scenario in which officers must balance control, safety, and restraint procedures to prevent injury to everyone involved. Why is she wearing a shower cap? I don't understand this thing. >> [music] >> Did you get it? Like when will people learn? Those shower caps contain strong magic. That's what I think. >> I [ __ ] Oh, you're doing my [ __ ] panties, [ __ ] What the [ __ ] are you? This [ __ ] going to get smacked the [ __ ] out of you. Give me Yeah, put all my [ __ ] in there. Cuz you're not touching it, [ __ ] I dare you. Get the [ __ ] OUT OF MY FACE, YOU NASTY, RAGGED [ __ ] THAT'S SEE WHAT HAPPENS. And nobody even [ __ ] did anything, not even you. That's a [ __ ] calm move, bud. This [ __ ] literally threw my head into the [ __ ] rocks. Put He put his knee on my [ __ ] back. I couldn't breathe. He's going. He's going, and you better [ __ ] do something about that. [ __ ] YOU GIGGLING FOR WHAT? YOU UGLY, NASTY [ __ ] STAY THE [ __ ] out of business. I don't know what the [ __ ] you're doing. >> I don't blame you. I saw it earlier when she was digging through that, but What? Resisted. It's called consequences to your actions. He tackled you? Put you on the ground. After you said you're going to kill me, yeah, that's So, now you're going to jail for threats to public official. It's mental [ __ ] What do you mean? I I know, I that, but when you threaten one of us, things tend to get escalated. Well, that's not what Sorry Galloway said. Taser. That's a taser, too. Can't have that. You have every right to protect yourself, but we don't have weapons Dang. It's another felony. Well, we have to search your bag cuz we got to make sure there's no any weapons that go into the jail along with drugs, okay? Do you have anything like that in your bag? Any marijuana and drug paraphernalia? You're going to go through here. And you're going to take a right. >> Calling someone ugly. Okay, she said herself. Once in custody, the focus moves to safety procedures while the suspect continues to protest and describe injuries from the arrest. I love this officer and his no-nonsense behavior, man. The suspect now faces charges including terroristic threatening, resisting arrest, drug possession, and unlawful possession of a taser. She pleaded not guilty to all charges and is expected to stand trial later this month. What do you think played the biggest role in this situation escalating so far?
