All right, everybody. Welcome back. We got another video from Midwest Safety. This is California officer screams for help during Ambush. Let's check it out. Oh. On February 19th, 2021, California officers from the Tari County Sheriff's Office pursued a white Toyota Prius after the driver used a 9mm handgun to threaten tourists inside Sequoia National Park. After fleeing the scene, >> deputies spotted the vehicle and entered the chase, unaware of the horrifying chaos that's about to unfold. >> Can't point a gun at people. Tallery County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Mike Budro. Good guy, good friend of mine. Runs a good good shop. >> I'm right behind him. >> Still westbound 198. Speeds approximately 90. Uh, approaching Long Drive. >> Trying to pass on the double yellow. We're coming up to Lvidas and uh 198. >> Coming up to 1981 passing still heading on 198. >> Now, I don't know if they do or not, but a lot of places have a no pursuit policy. I'm guessing is not like this, but a lot of places have a no pursuit. But if you can justify this is a dangerous situation, like there's a gun involved pointing at people in a in a park, even agencies that don't that say you can't pursue, they might let you pursue in this case. >> Slowing down. Slowing down. >> Slowing down. >> He's off the road driving in the park. Off the road. Off the road. >> I'm with him. He's got the gun outside of the car, too. >> He just heard his shots, too. >> Single shot fired. 60. Charles, keep calling. >> 60 police. Still westbound 198 approaching 330. Speeds approximately 70. >> Gun out the car. Firing a shot. You got to go after this guy. You chase him till the wheels fall off. If our murder passing Douglas now >> we would chase him anyway, but >> so he's brandishing the firearm. So these guys know they're in a lethal situation right now. Lethal force is justified or likely going to be justified when they when they get this guy stopped. >> He's still brandishing. He fired one more shot. I saw you with the unit. Westbound 198 approaching hill 95 just threw a drink at us. >> Copy westbound approaching hill 95 through a drink at just threw a mag light out the window and struck my vehicle. >> We have a location. >> They're coming this way >> right now. >> Yeah. 676. I'm out with another TCSO unit. 198 road 220 95 now. It's continuing to throw items out. See if they set up with some spike strips. Ville Boulevard. So, you're going to want to get if you can get the trooper up there to to pit the car, that'd be great. >> Oh, there's another one. >> 198 approaching 210 speed. >> Let st What kind of camera is this? And he just cut back over into the westbound lane. >> He's lucky somebody else wasn't coming up over that. >> He's going northbound 196. >> The eastbound lane to cut back over >> northbound road 196. >> Deputies are doing a good job. >> Unknown plate does not appear to be California. Speed 75, passing 304. Speeds just jumped back up. He's going in the uh southbound lanes. >> They don't know what the plate is. It could be a um Mexico plate. Arizona, we get a lot of Mexico plates. mph 320 and he's brandishing the hand out the window again. All right, I want to thank our sponsor for this video, Morgan and Morgan. They have been fighting for their clients for over 35 years. They've got an army of attorneys, over a thousand attorneys across this country. They are America's largest injury law firm. Here's a crazy number. They have recovered over $25 billion for their clients, over a half a million clients. So, if you are in need of an injury law firm, um you might want to look into Morgan and Morgan. All right. Thank you, Morgan and Morgan. Let's get back to the video. >> He's got tire blown out. >> Charles, get your rifle. Come to >> 60. Speed's down to 60. Speed down at 55. >> Lost the tire blowout. >> 32 still north. >> Going into the orchard. >> Right in through the orchard. By the way, those >> into an orchard. He's crashed. >> Continuing east through the orchard. He's leg bailing. >> Going south from his vehicle. Lake South going south from his vehicle south. [screaming] >> Don't let him get away. >> I don't see him. GTA on the airship. >> All right, guys. Let's start getting the perimeter set up. wearing an all black hoodie, black pants. >> Coming at you north or Yeah. Try and get up on that side of the orchard. >> Dash cam stinks. Got a 128 676. I'm still out with the vehicle. Two CSL units continued. >> Copy. Okay. >> So, I'm a little surprised, and granted, look, I'm sitting here talking about this after the fact, that they didn't immediately clear the car to make sure there was nobody else in the car, that the suspect's not laying down in the back seat. Um, something. I I don't know if they did. I didn't see it on here, but I would have thought that they would have immediately had a couple people at least clear the car. >> Oh, she sees perimeter. Oh, I heard gunshots. >> What's that? >> I heard gunshots. I heard two fired. >> Copy shots fired. >> Shots fired. >> Get over there. >> Oh, he's coming around on her. Stop screaming. >> I got shots fired coming from the orchard. One just went over our heads. >> Shots fired from the orchard. One went over the unit. >> Get in there, guys. Oh, come on, deputy. >> And a pistol at that range. >> Get on the radio. Start medical code three. It's a 67 297. >> Oh man, this make me anxious. >> He's right here behind the crew. >> Right here in front. OH, THEY'RE just unloading. Watch your crossfire, guys. >> One down. One down. >> I surrender. >> There should be no surrender at this point. Honestly, you've made your choice. You deal with the consequences. >> You just shot a a trooper. >> Suspect down. >> I hope she's okay. 68 ambulance hit 76 Charles. Suspect's down. We're moving in. Line of fires to the north. >> Officers, direction of fire is going to be northbound uh from the suspect vehicle. >> Go ahead. >> This is where I rifle your pistol. What it's for is to get you back to your rifle. >> Right there. >> You're with me. You got this. >> Get on the radio. We got one in custody. [screaming] >> Weapon recovered. Vice 60 Charles. >> One in custody. Weapons recovered. >> Give me two ambulances. Double check on her. And I need this whole area around this car is a crime scene. >> Copy. >> So on a crime scene, you're going to want to make this crime scene as big as possible because you want to make sure that you don't lose any evidence, you know, casings, whatever it is, you make that crime scene, you air on the side of caution and you make the crime scene as big as possible. And that's what he's basically, I like it. He's saying immediately, let's get a crime scene set up, making sure he's get uh medical treatment to obviously the trooper and um we'll see what happens with the suspect. >> The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Marvin Joseph Chang. According to Los Angeles County court records, he had prior felony charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. Those >> This is California, though. Attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, and the guy's still out running around. This is what happens when attorneys and the judges and the courts fail and these people get let back out. [cough and clears throat] So frustrating. >> Stemmed from an incident reported on December 1st, 2006 when Chang and two associates stabbed a 17-year-old boy during an argument at Sierra Madre's Memorial Park in Los Angeles County. Due to his prior felony status, he was prohibited from possessing weapons or ammunition. [music] However, during the search following this incident, officers found multiple weapons and equipment in Chang's possession, including one firearm with an extended magazine, one semi-automatic 9mm pistol, a ballistic vest, a second handgun, an AR style rifle, multiple additional magazines, three knives, more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition, [music] and hallucinogenic mushrooms. The female officer seen, a 20-year California Highway Patrol veteran, was shot once in the shoulder by Chang and was airlifted to the Community Regional Medical Center where she made a full recovery. California Highway Patrol officers were not equipped with bodywn cameras at the time of the incident. However, the agency is in the process of deploying body cameras to all 7,600 patrol officers [music] with full implementation targeted for March 2026. Chang, >> well, here's the thing about the body camera. It wasn't going to save her. I mean, it wasn't going to stop any bullets. You know, the only thing it would have done was given a uh another view of what was happening. But what what I believe is we need more troop, more police, more troopers, more deputies is really the solution. And and frankly, holding people accountable. If you don't hold people accountable, then they go out and they keep committing crimes and ultimately they have no regard for the law. They victimize. And look, this guy clearly he had bad intentions and uh probably victimizing people often with all that uh with all those guns and the bulletproof vests and everything in the car. >> Personal files and journal entries indicated significant psychological concerns. His writings stated that he was being followed by the feds [music] and they tried to intimidate him by placing spyw wear on his phone and firing gunshots near his home. He also wrote that his third eye knows about the Fed's plans [music] claimed to be the king of Hershey Street and referenced having a >> might want to back off the hallucenic mushrooms >> second degree black belt on social media. He shared a post stating that he was learning to master self and a community revolution was in progress. During the court trial >> failed. >> On July 22nd, 2024, a jury found Chang guilty of five counts of premeditated and deliberate attempted murder, assault with a semi-automatic firearm on peace officers, being a felon in possession of firearms, ammunition, [music] and a ballistic vest, felony evading, and special allegations related to the discharge of a firearm. >> All right, so this is what he's getting charged with. Premeditated deliberate attempt, and I don't know what the outcome is. I'm watching this for the first time with you. Um, times five, which means that he had five victim or five victims. So, that would be all the police and and the deputies, the trooper and the deputies. Assault with a semi-automatic firearm on peace officers. Um, that's the pistol. Felon in possession of firearms. Yep. Um, felon invading. This guy shouldn't get any breaks here. Please, please tell me this guy's still in prison. In the end, Marvin Joseph Chang was sentenced to 208 years to life in prison where he will spend the rest of his life. >> Marvin J Chang, you deserve to go to prison. That's where he belongs. And uh unfortunately, we're going to pay for him to be there for a lot of years. Um which is is uh sucks for the taxpayer, but uh California waste tax dollars all the time. Um at least they got this one right. But at least they got this guy put in jail and I probably because it happened in a great county like Terary County. So I thought it was a good job by the deputies, good job by the trooper. Tough situation to be in out there in the middle of that and uh not knowing where the guy went to, but in the end the good guys won. Uh fortunately the trooper was not seriously injured. I well was made a full recovery I should say and obviously nobody else was hurt and this guy got what he deserved. So, I'd love to know what you think. Comment, like, subscribe. Are you happy to know that the system worked and this guy's being held accountable? But he shouldn't have been on the street in the first place. But nonetheless, good guys got him and we'll go to what good guys won in the end. So, let me know what you think and I'll catch you on the next video. God bless everybody.
