I am just trying to get my 2-year-old home. Look at the time. I just came from a business event. >> And you're really trying to detain me. For what reason? >> I saw the alarms, but did you say pull over? >> Ma'am, do you have a Florida driver's license? >> Yes, I do. >> Okay. So, >> I just moved here. >> Okay. When you get your license, they teach you that you have to pull over when you hear when you see lights behind you. >> Well, I I was never told that. >> Okay. Well, then I don't know how you got your driver's license, though, because they teach >> because I came from New York. It was just a transfer. This Karen faced multiple serious charges, including resisting an officer with violence battery on a law enforcement officer child neglect without great bodily harm, fleeing and eluding police with lights and sirens and DUI with a person under 18 in the vehicle, showing the reckless nature of her actions. With such a crazy situation, the comments that followed after the video was released are also noteworthy. Hope she gets fired for this. She is insufferable. This is the most entitled, insufferable person I've ever seen. Also, using your child as a prop is disgusting. The lesson from this incident is that refusing to cooperate with police during a traffic violation will only make the situation worse. What a stubborn Karen, right? Why is that? >> Oh no. >> Why don't you think you're going to pass? >> Oh no. >> All right. Can you put your left foot on the line for me? Left foot. >> Hold on. Wait. >> Are you comfortable walking in those shoes or would you rather do it barefoot? >> Wait. Okay. >> Are you comfortable walking in those shoes or would you rather do it barefoot? >> Okay. Just let me know right now. >> Miss Harris, I need you to listen to me and follow instructions. Okay. >> All right. If you don't do that, I'm just going to say that you're refusing to do them. Okay. >> All right. Cuz not following instructions and listening to me and doing what I'm telling you to do is just like refusing to do it. Okay. All right. So, put your left foot on the line. >> Okay. Um, if I'm if I'm going to jail, >> Miss Harris, put your left foot on the line. After the video was posted on the internet, people shared their thoughts in some comments. Driving that drunk is bad enough, but with her kid in the car, that's an extra level of vile. It's scary when you realize that every day there's someone drinking and driving, and this can happen to any of us. It's pointless arguing with a drunk person. The lesson from this incident is that driving while intoxicated, especially with a child in the vehicle, not only poses serious danger to both the driver and the child, but also leads to severe charges such as DUI and child endangerment. I'm going to have you run through a couple fields of body test to make sure that you're good to drive, okay? So, what does that mean? >> I will call somebody to drive me. >> You have to work with him. That's he's the I'm his boss. He's the guy that makes the decision. I support his decision. >> I get it. I I understand what you're saying. >> Right. >> 100%. >> Correct. >> So, you have to work with him, Kathy. >> Whatever decision he makes, we've already talked about this. He's trying to do what's best. So whatever decision he makes anything because I'm not putting myself in a place where I'm going to >> like be in a weird spot where I'm going to get trouble for [ __ ] that I'm not even because I forgot my phone. >> Kathy, you're putting yourself in a weird spot by not having conversation with him and cooperating with him. You're putting him in a very difficult spot. He has to make a decision. I >> understand that. I understand that. So he's he's right now he's giving you an option. He's asked you to do field spray test, has he not? >> I'm not opposed to the field soriety test. But the point is like >> I didn't want to put myself in a weird spot for what >> the option is this. If he has to make if he has to make a decision if he has to make a decision, you potentially could get arrested for DUI right now. >> Well, what if I just have someone pick me up? >> Do I don't know if he's offered you that option. I think the option he's offered you right now, cuz this is a step-by-step process, the option he's offered you right now is to perform field spray test to find out how intoxicated you are. >> I get that. >> You know me. >> I do I do know you and >> I I Kathy I completely do that and I had a conversation with him to make a decision to how to best rectify this. I understand that 100% but like tell me like what is in my best interest like I don't know I don't trust sobriety test because you know like I've got I've had eye surgery like I don't know what you guys >> I understand what you're saying [ __ ] comes out like that that just >> I I understand what you're But he has to go step by step. And if he decides to allow you to make a phone call or to help assist you in getting home, he has to go through his next step in doing so. >> I'd rather just make a phone call. >> But it doesn't work like that because we're under a microscope. Our process goes a different direction, Kathy. So what will wind up happening is if this goes a different direction and there's a problem, then we are the ones that are called on the carpet for it. You know what I'm saying? If you give him the ability to do whatever he wants to do, field sobriety test, and then he makes a decision to allow you to make a phone call or if he decides to arrest you, that's that's the position you're in. >> I am not going to basically I'm going to be doing a field test. Like, I'd rather just have somebody >> Yeah, but that that's not the exact option you have right now. Because of the position we're in, he has a process he has to go by. >> Cuz I forgot my phone. And >> Kathy, you were called in as a suspected drunk driver. >> Who called me in? >> I don't know. I didn't look it up on the ticket. It's on the cab that you were called in as a drunk driver. You called in. It's in Spring Road. Somebody was following you since Spring Road and that's where you were picked up at. >> Listen, >> I mean, it's all documented. It's no nonsense. I went to a hyper and literally I ate three drinks. That's it. >> Okay, I understand. >> So, I get it. I know you guys have a responsibility. I get it. >> I get it. >> I understand that, >> but I I also like I don't want to put myself in a spot where I'm going to get in trouble. It just doesn't make sense. I feel like you know me. >> I do know you and and I'm I'm trying to guide you in the best direction right now. I'm not looking to arrest you. We're not looking to have you arrested. That's not what I'm trying to do because I do I have a relationship with you. We did work together for several years. You and I were buddies down there. I got along great. I we may still have each other's cell phone numbers. We're cool. But if you put up a brick wall, you will put him in a horrible situation. And you put yourself in a bad situation, too. So you're >> when am I better off putting myself in a place where >> like I feel like I'm in this weird spot where >> you are. >> I don't know what is the best to put myself in. The best spot to put yourself in is to allow him to go to the next step and to see where you're at to do field sobriety tests and see how you perform field sobriety tests and then he has to make a decision. Does he arrest you on the basis of what's going on or does he decide to allow you to to get a ride home? I don't know. I oversee him. >> You know what I'm saying? >> You oversee him. So why can't you make that decision? Kathleen's driving alcohol odor impairment indicators, admission of drinking, and rejection of sobriety tests led officer Simons to arrest her for DUI. You want to step out for me? Sure. >> Just face your car. Sand your back. You're on the arrest for DUI. >> Victor, one more adult female in custody for DUI. Sorry, please. All my stuff, sorry. >> All right, sounds good. >> This Karen will be charged with driving under the influence DUI based on her swerving while driving the strong odor of alcohol. clear signs of impairment admission to drinking earlier and refusal to perform field sobriety tests when requested by police. Many people commented on this circumstance and the girl's reaction in the published video. Ridiculous. Get her butt out of the car. She's drunk. How pitiful. This is bullshottt WTF. I'm already burnt out and she isn't even out of the car yet. This pissed me off. The lesson from this incident is that refusing sobriety tests and admitting to drinking while showing clear signs of impairment will almost certainly lead to a DUI arrest. What an unyielding Karen.
