I do not know, sir. All right, so do you So do you have to search the vehicle? I don't have to know, sir. That's why I'm asking you to read this so I can get your consent. It says I'll tell you about it. Just read it. We'll talk about it after. All right, everybody. Welcome back. We got another video for you. This one comes from Midwest Safety and it is everything changed after cops opened this trunk. I haven't seen it. Let's go. It was a routine traffic stop until they checked the trunk. Ooh, that sounds ominous. Where's your ticket? Yeah, I like traffic stops. Sometimes these things, man, you're just the hair on the back of your your neck goes up. You just feel something's off. Hey, yo. Look at the passenger. The passenger's G riding in the car. G riding is when you got your seat kicked back. You're practically laying in the back seat. Please, sir. How are you, bud? Good. Good, man. Look, I'm Austin Douglas, State Police. Reason I stopped you. All right, I understand. is that 18 wheel? He keeps looking at his trunk. If you've noticed that, he keeps looking at his trunk. Well, man, you were less than 2 miles an hour over, so you know what I'm talking about. It's somebody doing that, okay? I was trying to get that come off the road. Okay, appreciate it. I got you. You got an ID? No, I don't have no ID. He's the one that he just asked my license plate. He's very sick right now, but he is driving. He is not feeling good. He can't talk. He's sick. Okay. I don't I don't like So we just want to You don't have any kind of identification? Yeah, I do. This is the problem. All right, let's go get it. Can we talk? And I'm already feeling the anxiety. Just that little bit of cop You're just on high alert. That's what you are. Doesn't have his ID. He wants to go back to the car. You got this other dude in the car that's suspicious as as heck. Like Am I good? Where are you headed? Uh back to Nashville. Okay, where you from? North Carolina. You're coming from North Carolina? Yes, sir. North Carolina, is that where you're going? We took the other way to get Huh? >> We went through Louisiana. To get to To get to Nashville from North Carolina? Yeah. Yes, sir. North Carolina and Tennessee are right next to each other. Considering they are currently in Louisiana, the driver's suggested pathing doesn't add up as they'd have to drive an extra 14 hours to Louisiana just to turn around and drive back up north to Tennessee. That don't make no sense. North Carolina's on the East Coast, but It does make sense. It's the same way. Huh? It's the same way. You realize Louisiana's down here. Yeah. Nashville, Tennessee is right here. And North Carolina's over here. >> My GPS took me this way, so you can check the GPS. >> [laughter] >> So, you come from North Carolina right now? >> Yes, sir. No joke. What was you doing in North Carolina? Huh? What was you doing in North Carolina? Did I say North Carolina? Yeah, what >> Oh, my fault. >> What you trying to tell me? My fault. I'm in I'm in I'm in Texas. My fault. Holy molly, buddy. I'm like, holy [ __ ] That's on me. That's on me. That's on me. What part of Texas? Uh, Houston. Okay, what you How long So, this is where I would have him a little bit further That's pretty good location, but what you want is you want to be able to question him and then go question the passenger and and see if their stories line up. You've been down there? Yes, 2 days. >> Okay. You and your buddy? Yeah. Is this your car? Yeah, that's my mom's. She rented it for us. >> I got you. What y'all do down in Houston? Just party. I got you. All right. Let me go holler at him. Give me just a minute. Make sure you're not coming from North Carolina. Hang out right there. You good? You good? Hang out back there. So, this cop is the he's doing a great job. This guy has done this before. He's laughing. He's making them feel at ease. He's outnumbered, so you're going to take You just don't want these guys to feeling on edge. That's when things start getting a little bit dicey is when they feel they're they're getting cornered like a cornered animal and that's when things can get dangerous. Hey, any weapons in here I need to know about? Any guns or anything? Great job. Very casual the way he asked. He's like, "Hey, hey, any any by chance any weapons in the car?" Which by the way, when I used to be you ask people if they had any weapon not these guys, but if I asked people you had any guns in the car and they said no, I said, "Why not? You should. It's dangerous out there." What's going on, man? You all right? Yeah, I'm good. All right, man. Tired? Party? All night, man. I got you. Where you all headed, buddy? Nashville. Nashville. Huh? Nashville. He said it was Nashville. I got you. Where you all coming from? Texas. How long you all down there? Four days. Party down there? Okay. The rental agreement in here? He's making sure they're on the He's thinking what the heck am I on the right? Are we on the same page here? So far seems to be matching up. You all both from Nashville? Yes. Where'd you all stay when you were down there? We stayed in Pearland. Huh? Pearland. Okay. With who? Somebody you knew or what? >> Yeah, I got family down there. Oh, for real? Yeah. Okay. I got you. Give me just a second, okay? Where'd you all stay at down there? At a friend's house. Okay. All right. Where at? In Houston or what? Yeah, I just said Houston on the border side. I got you. Okay, give me just a second. Very positive. I told you before, I one thing I never did was get back in the car. I always Luckily I had an SUV for most of my time and I would stand at the passenger side not get in and and work on my computer there um so that I was always mobile and not stuck in my car. Oh, look at him. Tell me something. Look at him here. The car was rented yesterday. Yeah. How did you get How was it rented yesterday and you were in Houston for a couple of days? This will be my second day. We just left today. Huh? We just left today. This will be my second We left today. Just from Houston. I went up there the night before. So, it was picked up and it was picked up in Tennessee or was picked up in Houston? It was picked up in Tennessee. We went at night. Party. That would be last night. Yes. Okay. Okay. Where'd y'all party at? >> On Tuesday night. At my friend's house. Okay. Okay. Okay. How old are you, buddy? I'm 20. Okay. I got you. All right, look. Come here. Do me a favor. Sure. All right, look. Read through this for me, okay? What I'm asking is consent search of vehicle, okay? But, I want you to read through this to the fullest, all the way through. This line all the way down to here, okay? We'll talk about the end of it whenever you get down there, okay? This is a good This guy's seasoned. He is probably an interdictory as unmarked vehicle, so it looks to be unmarked. He's an interdictor, knows what questions to ask. Check the the rental agreement on the rental car because they said they were down in the Houston area for a couple days, but then the vehicle had just been rented in Tennessee the day before, which means that they were there and back, which is usually a sign of you pick something up and now you're headed back. I'll read that. I do not know, sir. I do not. All right, so do So, do you have to search the vehicle? I don't have to, no, sir. That's why I'm asking you to read this so I can get your consent. This is I'll tell you about it. Just read it and we'll talk about it after. Smart. Smart. You understand what I'm asking? Yes, sir. Okay. If you allow me to search If you consent and say yes, you can search my vehicle, you sign right there. If you do not, you tell me no. Okay. No, I I know you're going to put me in the you didn't pull me over for that. Okay. So, no? No. Okay, that's fine, man. All right. That's why I get you to read it and get your consent. Now, let me explain to you this. Okay. Buddy here got out with his dog and a [ __ ] came out here. All right. He knows. He knows. He knows he's screwed at this point. Um when we would pull over people trafficking drugs, sometimes they would say yeah, you can search the car and they were hoping that you wouldn't or that you wouldn't find what they're looking for what you were Sometimes they may not search the trunk, whatever. Just a cursory search. So, a lot of the times they're trafficking, they'll say yes to a consent cuz they don't want to tip you off. When he said no, it probably only solidified in the in the trooper's mind that this is something's up. And then now he's telling him about the canine and this guy now knows the gig is about up. Follow this man. Hop out for me, bud. My partner there is going to run his dog around the car, okay? You got any guns or anything on you? Any guns in the car? Hold on one second. Come here. Spin around. So, that's just a terry pat. Just you're only feeling for any weapons. You're not feeling for anything else. Just make sure it's a cursory search of the of the pockets and that's all you're feeling for at this point. All right, go ahead and walk right there and wait up. I'll take it out? Yeah, go ahead. It was one of my pet peeves, actually, when they would throw cigarette butts out the window. If I saw it, I'd pull you over for it. And I I got warrants when uh passenger flicked his cigarette, driver ends up having a warrant, none too pleased with his passenger, but yeah, it is a it's absolutely a legit stop, it's littering. All right, let me tell you what just happened. I just asked him for consent to search vehicle, allowed him to read a consent to search form, and fully explained we're searching the vehicle. Yes. Uh he refused to sign it, which means he does not want me to search his vehicle. Right. What I explained to him, the buddy that actually got out with me on stop is our K9 handler, okay? He's going to run his narcotics dog around the car. If he alerts to the vehicle, I'll probably call search vehicle. If he does not, you'll get on up road back to Nashville, wherever it is that he's going, okay? Are from North Carolina, North Carolina, wherever it is. Hey, hey, hey, he's having me left fast. Hey, look, I asked him, I said, "Look, I said, 'Hey, where are you coming from?'" He said, "North Carolina." I said, "Where are you going?" He said, "Nashville." I said, "You realize where you're at?" >> No, we're going He said, "Well, I'm taking us where my GPS brought me." Look, he had me going, man. He said, I said, "Where you going?" Making light of situation, this is good cop. This is a good trooper, man. Yeah, he's got the subdued uh subdued interdiction vehicle. He said, "Well, we're going back to Nashville." I said, "Okay, where are you from?" He said, "Well, North Carolina." He got it mixed up. I said, "Huh?" I said, "You realize Louisiana's right here, Nashville's right here, and North Carolina's right here." I said, "You You don't screw it something up." I used to live in Louisiana. Where at? Lafayette, for like 13 years. Really? What'd you do down there? Yeah, I lived there like Okay. You grew up there, you lived there? What made you move to Nashville? Well, see, I just, you know, my family had family problems. My mom moved The other thing he noticed is he noticed that the K9 hit. So, if you watch him, he now positions himself in between them and the vehicle, also um making sure that they can't see what's going on with the dog back there, either. ground, so I'm moving to Houston. I'm moving to Fair Lawn for like 2 Now, I'm in Asheville. I'm at this little [ __ ] How old are you? 19. Okay. And you're 20. Okay. So, she just alerted on the vehicle. So, she alerted on the the driver's side door. So, Is there anything in there we need to make them made aware of? All right, cool. Gloves? Yes, sir. Look at the white dude who's been feeding on that phone, all right. That smells like weed. Those gloves suck to get on. So, the other thing you know, if you look at the trunk, and if people say they're on vacation going down there, hanging out at friend's house, but then you don't have any bags, that's all also a red flag. Just get that out of the way first. At this moment, reports indicate the driver turns to the officer standing next to him and says, "Sir, you might as well go ahead and put us in handcuffs." The officer then asks him why, and he replies, "Because he's about to find some shit." The officer Uh nothing. The when they figure out they're busted, he's like, "Yeah, you may as well just put us in handcuffs cuz they're about ready to find some crap." Searching the vehicle then see the officer putting him in cuffs and go to assist before finishing their search. >> What is Look him with your Where's your hat? Okay. And he's got a gun. Yeah, both of Yeah, the white room, man. If he has a pistol, um like I'm a big Second Amendment guy, huge supporter of it. You got to be 21 to have a pistol, 18 to own or have a rifle. So, that and you can't transport drugs and have a gun with you as well. That's going to be a problem for him. So, you think you say can and will be getting to it for a while now? >> Miranda. Yeah, they have the right to not do a lawyer. All right, let me call and get that and work that. Let me call Chris. Yeah, that's the best feeling, man. Oh, wow. That's a bunch of coke, man. 2 3 No wonder they were excited. Those are all kilos of coke, man. 4 5 6 7 8 9 10, bro. 10 kilos of cocaine. In the book bag, guys? Yes. Ooh, that's a good hit. So, there's markings on it, which is why they've blurred that out. Um, but yeah. The markings would be indicative of who's who the cartel is or who produced it or brought it into the country. What did he say? He said, "Let me call uh Matt Jones and uh All the packages of cocaine were found to weigh approximately 25.5 25 lb, which is about right, 10 kilos. Uh, I think a kilo is 2. something pounds. 5 lb including packaging with a street value of up to $2.3 million. The which you mentioned was found under his seat, removed, and placed in an evidence box. After running the gun serial number, it was confirmed to be stolen through the Nashville Metro Police Department. The driver, 20-year-old at the time Jaylen Thompson, was charged with following too close, operating a motor vehicle with no driver's license, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a stolen firearm, and conspiracy to distribute a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance. Ouch. Louisiana don't mess around. The passenger, 19-year-old at the time Derrick Tipps, who also was a convicted felon during the incident, was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and conspiracy to distribute a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance. In February 2023, both suspects took a plea deal, pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine in exchange for the rest of their charges to be dropped. I really wish on these cases they would keep those charges on there. You're going to win the case. Just They They plea it down so they get them to take the plea and not go to court or trial and all that. I get it. But some of these guys, man, they should be held accountable to the fullest extent. Jaylen, the driver, was sentenced to 70 months, just under 6 years, in prison, while Derrick, the passenger, who had a prior felony conviction, was sentenced to 10 years in prison. They will both be placed under supervised release for 5 years after they are released. Jaylen will be 26 years old when he is released in 2028, and Derrick will be 31 years old when he is released in 2033. You would be so pissed if the guy driving got pulled over cuz he was following too close when you knew I mean, you got to follow every traffic law. And rental cars, we find drugs in rental cars all the time. Two guys, one guy G-riding in the passenger seat, rolling like they're That is a a red flag to interdictors. You got a rental car, um two dudes in the front seat, a rental car from Tennessee nonetheless, and you start to put all the pieces together, they end up getting them. I think they deserved a little bit more time, um but 5 years is pretty hefty. 5 years plus probation. The other guy got 10 years because he uh already had some felony convictions, and so he got busted for 10 years. Great work. Great work by these guys, by this uh and you can see why they're so excited, man. They took 10 kilos, 25 lb of cocaine, a couple million dollars street value off the streets, and uh caught these two guys, got a stolen firearm. Fantastic work. Everything they did was really great. These are pros. Got them in cuffs when they needed to. Um and man, great work. Let me know what you think. Comment, like, subscribe. And we'll catch you on the next video.
