All right, everybody. We got another video for you. This one comes from Code Blue Cam and it is the worst thing you can do after getting fired. Let's go. Listen, it's not good if you're being chased by an MRAP and or a SWAT vehicle, some type of BearCat, and then about 50 >> wild chase that pulled multiple law enforcement agencies together across Wisconsin to stop a man fleeing in a semi-truck. But, the situation takes an even crazier turn when they realize he isn't alone. >> First of all, you might be saying, "Okay, can they PIT this truck?" It is tough with the smaller vehicle to PIT it. We tried to PIT a a big 1-ton truck with a Durango one time with the sheriff out in Missouri, and we it wasn't going. We couldn't get it off the road. >> It's around 3:00 p.m. on August 25th, 2023, and these troopers are setting up tire deflation spikes after multiple police departments across Wisconsin are alerted to a stolen semi-truck whose driver refuses to stop. But, this is only a part of a drawn-out chase that's about to take several shocking turns. >> Oh, you got to be so careful. >> attempt to use tire spikes. And while troopers and deputies managed to [music] deploy them successfully, the driver still refuses to stop. The whole >> You got to be careful cuz we've actually had where they veer off and they hit they they try to avoid the spikes and then they go right towards the deputy or the officer that's just deploying the spikes. >> thing began around 2:50 p.m. with a 911 call from a trucking company reporting that a former employee, 47-year-old Michael Jones, had taken off with [music] one of their semi trucks from an arena in Warren, Wisconsin when Ro County deputies had initiated the chase. But when Michael hit I-94 [music] in a desperate attempt to lose the deputies, additional units joined in. But despite multiple attempts by deputies and state troopers, Michael is not in the mood to give up. >> Yeah, all units be advised no longer able to spike the vehicle as it's riding on its rim. >> Driving on the rims. >> All right, that's a high risk stop. Just don't flag your buddies. You okay? >> I don't know why I didn't get a good pull and then I tried to pull it again before and I got a good pull and then >> I just should have told you. >> No, it's my fault. >> So, she says uh high risk stop, don't flag your buddies, which means everybody's going to get out and be pointing rifles or pistols. And when when you say don't flag somebody, you're not don't point it at them. Make sure of your surroundings, who's behind you. So, uh that's basically what that's what she said. >> Um are you okay? You want to see the sting? >> Yeah. >> Okay. I figured you did, but if you want to go to hospital, go to hospital. >> Oh, no, they're not falling off. >> All right. Yeah. I'm like I'm pretty sure he wants to see the sting. >> So, it looks to me like the guy that's in the car was one of the ones that threw out the spikes and it must have done something to his hand. She's saying, "Do you want me to go to the hospital or do you want to stay in this?" And he's like, "Nah, we're staying in this thing." >> Barron County had the mail driver on the line here advising he is not stopping. Mineral wants to know if you want their tag team as well. >> Despite the other trooper in this squad burning his fingers while retrieving the spike strips after one of the attempts. They remain in the pursuit as it crosses into Juneau County with deputies from the sheriff's office assisting. >> You wouldn't know how to stop it either, but you got to stop it and this is a dangerous weapon on the road right now. Maybe get in front of it and try to box it. That could be dangerous. You could run over one of the front vehicles. The MRAP could potentially do something. >> A Juneau County deputy later learned that the trucking company owner's son had met Michael and Warren shortly after he finished a delivery. During that conversation, he confronted Michael about making deliveries outside of work areas and being late and that's when Michael was fired. He was told to leave the truck at the truck stop. Instead, the job loss sent Michael off the rails. Panicked and paranoid, he ignored warnings that police would be called, hit the pedal, and took off with the semi. And as deputies see that Michael still isn't giving up, even with shredded tire debris littering the road and putting life and other drivers' lives at risk, they soon find out that he isn't alone inside the truck. >> Do you know the unit is 243? When they get to the construction area, the semi may try to ram vehicles again. May try to ram their vehicles. Do you know the unit is 243? We have a female on 911 advising she is in the semi with the driver. Again, female is in the semi with the suspect driver. >> So, this will change how you respond. So, now you have what is probably an innocent person in the vehicle or at least a second person that is uh how innocent they are, but at least they're not the driver. So, they don't have any control over whether he pulls the truck over or not. So, now you have to take that into consideration. And it sounds like some of the other deputies are getting far from their county, so they're turning around. >> To the 43, she's trying to exit the moving semi. >> Oh jeez, don't run. >> 247, do you know the unit is 243? A male is possible 96. He is advising he's being chased by the K. He is not aware that you are law enforcement. >> Definitely has some mental health problems. >> Michael's on and off girlfriend of 15 years, who also works at the same trucking company, had been with him during the delivery. After he was fired, Michael became convinced she had been working with the owners behind his back. She was still in the truck when he took off after losing his job, and despite her begging him to stop, Michael held her against her will, and he kept going. >> Kidnapping. >> Michael will allege that she had mentioned the K to him in the past, and that fear fed into his belief that white officers and others were out to get him. >> So, that big vehicle is an MRAP. They're pretty heavy. >> And now we're requesting to set up spike strips if possible. All right, there we go. Really an M-Rad. >> Throughout the chase, the woman calls Juneau County dispatch multiple times, telling them she can't jump out of the truck because she's afraid of being run over by oncoming traffic. She also repeatedly tells dispatch that Michael is unarmed. >> Plus, you're going to get jacked up if you jump out that car, driver. >> By now, several agencies, including State Patrol, the Juneau County Sheriff's Office, Ho-Chunk Nation Police, Wisconsin Dells PD, and Lake Delton PD have joined to try to stop him. A Bearcat is also brought in, and repeated spike attempts shred the truck's tires, scattering debris across the roadway. But even after losing two tires down to the rims, Michael continues driving the semi truck at dangerous speeds, endangering everyone on the road. As Michael keeps driving recklessly, swerving between lanes, a witness near I-94 manages to record the chase that captures just how intense, urgent, and high-stakes the effort to stop him has become. >> Still cooking along, too. >> But the risks Michael keeps taking aren't helping him anymore. And soon, his decision to keep driving the truck on bare rims will turn against him in one of the most dangerous ways imaginable. Suddenly, troopers see smoke coming from the semi-truck. And moments later, it catches fire. Michael loses control, sending the truck crashing into a ditch near the Wisconsin Dells area. >> I don't know if that's fuel coming out there or what, but yeah, there you go. Leaking fuel plus flames. Ooh. 10 70. So not only do you have a high-risk stop you have to deal with, you got to deal with a fire. >> If you're hands out. >> HIGH-RISK FEMALE EXITED. COME BACK. KEEP COMING. KEEP COMING. >> LOOKS LIKE THEY GOT THE FEMALE OUT. So in a situation like this, you're going to have one person. It gets really confusing if a bunch of people shouting. So typically, you'll have one person take control and give the commands. We're rock walking people back to the vehicle while other people keep an eye on the vehicle and the driver. And then you will have somebody walk up, put cuffs on them, get them out of the way. >> Come back here. Come back here, babe. >> So a lot of times what she'll do is this now, she'll pull her back and start asking questions like, are there any weapons in the vehicle? Are there anybody else Is there anybody else in the vehicle? So you're trying to ascertain if Just make sure you understand exactly what you're working with up front. All right, folks. Let's be honest, the math just isn't adding up lately. Between the grocery store prices going up, skyrocketing insurance premiums, it's getting harder and harder even with a steady job to make ends meet. And a lot more people are relying on those high interest credit cards to do that. To prove that point, we went from 800 billion dollars to 1.2 or 1.3 trillion dollars in American credit card debt. So this is becoming a real issue. So if you're a homeowner and you're caught in that cycle, carrying balances with interest rates in the 20s and 30s, which most credit cards are, it's time to get some relief. Okay? Right now, mortgage rates are at a 3-year low, thankfully, and my friends at American Financing are helping homeowners pay off that high interest debt, and they're getting your rates down into the low fives. So their salary-based mortgage consultant, which is what I love about it, they don't push loans, they build exit strategies from debt. On average, they're saving their customers $800 a month. Plus, if you start today, you may even delay the next two mortgage payments, which is a big help. There are no upfront fees or obligations, and you can find out how much you can save. So America's home for home loans is American Financing. Call 888-995-2440. That's 888-995-2440. Or you can go to americanfinancing.net /lamb. Now, let's get back to our video. Oh. >> Get on the ground. GET ON THE GROUND. WE'RE GOING TO RUN BY YOU. >> IT'S LIKE HE JUST TOOK OFF. >> I GOT to I GOT TO >> OH. >> YOU WANT THE TASER. YOU WANT THE TASER. YOU WANT TO PAT HIM DOWN, PUT your hands >> Our vehicles, when you would put it in park, the siren would go off. The lights are still there, but the siren would go off, which was so nice because these cars would just keep going and going. It's such a distraction. I mean, you're you don't really hear it when you're in the middle of all that, but >> All the involved agencies have managed to take Michael into custody and rescue the woman. But even then, he isn't done. Before it's over, he will make another bold attempt to escape. >> 1 2 3 >> What's up with the socks? >> Get up. Stand up. Get up, man. Stand up, man. >> Hey! Hey! >> Hey! >> Help me! Help me! They're hurting me! >> Hold on. Get Yeah, get a >> Grab my squad right there. >> Guys, come on. Take this. Come on. Come on. Right here. >> It's going to Big boy, tall. >> It's good. You guys want to shoot? All right, uh good good search. I don't Yes, sir. Oh, yeah, nothing in there. Hello, ladies. Excuse me. >> Yeah, what Yeah, they were And then relax. >> HEY, ALL THE ZONES. >> STOP. >> ALL THE ZONES. THESE ARE OFFICERS. >> Come here. >> Stop. >> These are officers. >> All right. All right. >> I got to pee, man. I got to pee 250. >> My name is Can I stay except for a little bit? >> Hi, my name's Christina. >> Christina, what's your birthday? >> 10 4 52 is in route. >> Okay. Is he okay? >> He's fine. He's fine. He's fine. >> Is he okay? >> Yep, he's fine. He's He's under arrest right now. Can't have you go by him right now, okay? >> Hey, way to go, Mike the tackler, bud. Been in this pursuit since freaking Toma. >> [laughter] >> It started when I was leaving my house. >> Do you guys have tethers in case he decides to start kicking his feet or anything? >> I have them. >> I do. Here you >> You want to grab yours, Molly? I'm just worried he's going to start kicking. >> I might want the bigger bag for the shoes. >> Is that your boyfriend? Boyfriend? >> All right. >> I don't need You don't need to cause any problems, okay? Just just stay cool. >> Okay. >> Okay. Where are you from? >> California. >> My My bag is in the truck. >> All right, we'll get it. So, what's going on? What What Why is this? Get a car. >> Never got me drunk. >> You can understand she's a little upset. Got into a pursuit with the police. The state troopers, police, sheriff's deputies. A little bit of everything. They're not officers, he said. They're putting a hobble on him. He kicked out the trooper's window. This dude's all over the place. No, it's not okay. That's not okay, dog. This dude's like a roller coaster. He's up, he's down, he's kicking windows out. Now he's saying he's okay, no. Uh, you're getting a hobble put on you. >> Officer! >> So these ARE A ONE PLEASE STOP. SO THAT'S A ONE THERE'S only There's a little compartment right here, so you can only There's no real movement. He can't lay down and kick out the window like he just did. Plus, they put a hobble on his feet and secured it outside the door. >> Michael's attempt to resist and escape by kicking the living [ __ ] out of the squad car window sent glass shards flying, injuring one deputy in the arm and a detective in the head, leaving both bleeding and in need of medical attention. >> You need You need >> Assault on an officer Criminal damage Fleeing from law enforcement officer Kidnapping >> We're going to probably going to go to >> Jackson? >> No. >> Sauk. >> Well, that guy's got He's probably going to be the last one. >> Huh? >> You got anything? Anybody else got anything on them? >> We have >> Diane. >> I was enrolled in Jackson for >> Okay. And then as soon as >> I would get him moving. >> Yep. >> Where do you want him to go? >> Take him to jail. >> Just to your jail? >> Just leave him and then take him Yeah. >> Just I'd go to Juneau with him. We're not in the Sauk yet, so we can Go with >> And then we'll have one of >> And you Are you going to follow >> I'll go with too. Yep. >> Yeah, perfect. >> Thank you. >> We have three going including the one. I I know what you want to do. >> Is someone going to Juneau County with them. >> Sure. >> You want to have a trooper go with you? >> Okay. >> Also it's going to go tonight with Po Dunk PD and that's Dozer with >> I'm not sure whose case this is. It sounds like it's probably going to be whatever police department that originated in or the original county. Monroe County maybe, but I don't >> Po Dunk PD. >> The K9? >> No. >> Okay. This is officer Dozer. >> You're transporting >> Transporter. >> Where are you going or >> Looks like the troopers are taking it. >> All right. >> Yeah. >> I'll just come back and we'll go through the crossover. >> He's in the black unmarked. We're going to follow him. If there's any issues, just pull over right away. >> And as things at the crash site finally start to calm down, the woman calls her family and explains how she had just tried to arrange a ride for herself and Michael after he was fired, but he chose to go in a very different direction. >> Michael has speed chased the police. They fired him and he flipped out and went crazy. He wouldn't let me out of the truck. >> All right. >> Did you hear me? >> What? >> I said Michael flipped out and he wouldn't let me out of the truck. I said >> Definitely use that for evidence in case she recants her testimony. You have her on video saying that he wouldn't let her out of the truck. That's for the kidnapping charge. >> They fired him and he flipped out and he went crazy. >> Oh, wow. They fired him. >> Yeah, and he went crazy and flipped out and he has speed the police. He wouldn't let me out of the truck. >> Are you still in the truck? >> I'm over here with the police. He has speed the police. We could have flipped over and died. >> you right now? >> On the highway. >> Still in the truck? >> No. >> Who are you with right now? >> The police. >> Ma'am. >> Sir, this is the Wisconsin State Patrol. She's currently in the Wisconsin Dells. >> Oh, wow. All right. All right. >> You haven't been to the Wisconsin Dells? Very cool out there. It's beautiful. >> Okay. I'm going to go home. >> Right now we're still working on that. If you can just hold on and she can just talk to you and we'll give you information as it comes. >> All right. I'll try to calm her down. >> I want to go home. I want to go home. >> Yeah, yeah. Just Just cooperate with them first. let them get out of what they need, and then they'll see how you going to get home. Yeah, plan to plan to get you a bottle of whiskey. But you're good, I mean, you you all right now? You calmed down? They got him in custody? >> Yeah. >> All right. So, how how how would y'all get home anyway after they put him out the truck? >> I called a rental car. We crazy. And then like I'm just like I I got a rental car and I was like I'm I'm I'm and I had got a I got a Lyft or whatever. And the Lyft came and picked me up. And he flipped crazy and he flipped out. >> Yeah, he's about to drive his car. >> And I was trying to get in the Lyft and then he flipped out. >> Yeah, he's about to drive. >> He don't have to worry about a job now cuz he's probably going to go to prison for a little bit. >> He lost his job. He should have followed our orders. Let him Let him get out. Let him get out. Yeah, I don't want to try to make sure you get your way home, all right? >> Even after arriving at the station, Michael still isn't done. >> Mike, right? >> I already know what's up. It's no It's It's It's It's like Like I said, you guys are surprising me. >> out. >> Yeah, and you guys are going to screw around. >> No, we're not going to do that. >> No, he's the one screwing around. >> walk you around into the building, okay? >> I saw that. Listen, I saw him standing around the corner. It's okay. It's okay. >> What is he talking about? >> Is that you, Ryan? Is that you, Ryan? >> All right, we're going to go through this door and then we're going to take our >> Yeah, I see it all. >> Go ahead. >> All right. Okay. You cool with me starting to take the leg cuffs off? >> Yeah? All right. >> Thank you. >> Got some bunions going on there, too. >> Okay. Thank you. >> You got to have plenty guys in there in case this guy goes nuts again. You want to have numbers against him. >> Michael Jones was charged with felony, vehicle fleeing eluding an officer, taking a commercial vehicle without consent, second-degree recklessly endangering safety, false imprisonment, misdemeanor resisting obstructing an officer, criminal damage to property times two, and his cash bond was set at $25,000. >> $25,000? So, what they do is they set this low bond. Clearly, he's got mental health issues. Now, he gets out if he satisfies this bond, and he's back out on the streets with putting the rest of us at risk. >> He was eventually found guilty of vehicle fleeing eluding an officer and second-degree recklessly endangering safety. All remaining charges were dismissed. In the end, he was sentenced to 339 days in jail and 18 months in the Wisconsin State Prison, followed by 5 years of extended supervision. >> So, 339 days in jail, which means that's how long it took for him to take the take the So, a little over a year. Well, just under a year. And then, um he was 18 months in prison, and then 5 years of extended probation, supervised uh parole, or whatever they call it. All right. Well, let me know what you think. I mean, at least they got him on something. Spend a little time in prison. They deserve to be in prison for that. And probably I think anywhere between 2 and 1/2 years to 5 years is about what you should be for something like that. He put a lot of lives at risk. He put that lady's at risk. He kept her against her will. These are all pretty serious charges. He should be He should feel lucky that that's all the time he got, and that the other kid charges were uh dropped against him. So, let me know what you think. Comment, like, subscribe, and I'll catch you on the next video.
