So, what if I told you that I have you on video at both places and you did not pay when you left? >> Okay. >> Okay. Did you pay for your meal before you left at both restaurants? >> I don't know. >> You don't know. Okay. >> All right, everybody. Welcome back. We got another video for you. This one comes from Body Cam Goat and it is police surprise serial dine and dash couple minutes after skipping a $400 restaurant bill. I know you folks like me. I can't stand thieves. I have not seen this. Let's go. Ugh. I don't know. This is starting picture is a little rough. Let's go. >> This is 24-year-old Dana Efremenko and 30-year-old >> 24? Roman looks all right. >> On May 26th, [music] 2025, Monroe County Sheriff's responded to multiple local restaurants after receiving reports [music] of a couple leaving without paying their tab. The couple allegedly had >> Oh, what's going on here? Um The guy, she's wearing a cap. >> multiple bottles of wine and full meals resulting in almost a $400 bill at one restaurant and at least $250 at another. The investigation leads deputies to search for a blue Volkswagen that is soon tracked down and stopped for a tail light violation. >> I mean, they had been coming in and out all night. >> Okay. >> And they would both come out and they would smoke and they would go back in. And they would both come out and smoke and go back in. And then they ordered dessert and they would both go to the bathroom. So, them both getting up at the same time wasn't abnormal cuz they'd been doing it all night. Then they ordered dessert and he came back, she walked out, he came back and sat down and then he left and then they were never to be seen again. >> So, after they ordered dessert, that's when they just kept going back and forth? >> No, they went back >> Throughout the whole day? Then to after they got dessert, that's when they both went >> out, he came back from the bathroom, sat down for about 30 seconds and then dipped out as well. >> Well, there's loads of it if you can give me the tab. >> Yeah, I'll go get it right now. >> Yeah. >> So, the the amount, $400 plus the other $650, it's going to be simple theft. It's probably not going to be over most I think $1,000 starts to trigger different thresholds. Felonies can be 10,000 or 25,000. I think it varies state to state. So, this is probably just going to be a simple theft, but still it's a lot. >> Did they give any any type of name? >> Uh no, they were a walk-in right when we opened at 5:00. Um cuz normally we are primarily like as you can see we're primarily reservation only. >> Okay. >> We have most of the people we have their name and phone number, but when they're a walk-in like that we don't take their information. We just seat them. >> Casey and 72 bougies what they stole. So, there's two bottles. >> Yep. >> Florentine is >> It's uh escargot as an appetizer. >> Appetizer. >> Appetizer it's good, but they had two bottles of wine. >> Okay. All right. So, next question would you like to press charges? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> I went down to the brewery and I let her friend Please let me know if this ratchet ass couple comes in here. She's got a white shirt on her 1994 across the back and they just look like they >> Ratchet. Based off the pictures I've seen already, that is a good description. Ratchet. Ratchet ass, but ratchet is is a really good description. >> Call Yelp the gutter. >> Okay. >> Um but that's the only place that I could go and >> Okay, that's fine. I'll just do my investigation. I'll just go around a mile trying to see if they do pop up. >> I mean I know not likely likely, but that's what chef wanted me to do. >> You never know. So, >> Deputies managed to quickly track down the blue Volkswagen and conduct a traffic stop for a tail light infraction. >> So, as I started to say, when you're doing these traffic infraction traffic stops on a car you're looking for, you can look for anything. It could be speeding. If they're going 3 mph with the speed limit, it's still speeding whether you like it or not. Um it's not typically we would pull them over for it, but you could. Tail light, license plate lamp. Um there's a lot of different things and so obviously they had probable cause for the stop off of a broken tail light. >> 7221.5 >> I'm code five, thank you. >> Hi. Good, how are you? >> I'm better and better, thank you. >> 61 36119, that's an apron. Can I have your driver's license and registration, please? >> I'm code four to the 86 mile marker. >> Thank you. Is that her driver's license? Is that her ID? >> Yes. >> Okay, perfect. Where are you guys headed? >> Um Fort Lauderdale. >> You have where? >> Fort Lauderdale. >> To Fort Lauderdale, okay. Is this a rental vehicle? Okay, do you have the renter's agreement for it? Yeah, your tail light's partially out back there. >> Oh. >> Yeah. It's okay, it happens. All right, give me 1 second, okay? 61 36119, that's an apron. >> That's an apron. >> 100% >> be his. >> Go look at them. >> 100% So, remember description 1994 across the shirt, ratchet ass. So, all the descriptions are here. That's what you're looking for. He says, "Yeah, that's them." >> Almost ran me over. Do you mind stepping out of the car for me, sir? We just want to talk to you real quick. >> Okay. >> All right, we're going to go >> What you'll do is you'll pull people out because now you want to talk to them about the theft. You want to separate them so they can't have their stories together. This is where you can start to find start to poke holes in whatever stories, lies they're about ready to spin on these on these deputies. >> All right, back there. Okay, woo, that's super bright. Um it's It's really dark outside, so Uh we do want to talk to you, but in order for us to talk to you, we do have to read you something first. >> Sergeant. I did something wrong? >> Yes, you did. >> in a minute. Let me just read it to you, okay? All right. So, before I ask you any questions, you must understand your rights. With these rights in mind, do you wish to speak to me? Okay. All right. So, where you from? >> You mean >> Where are you from? Are you from here? Are you from Florida? >> Yes, I am. >> Okay, where in Florida? >> In Boca. >> Boca? Okay. Lived in Boca? >> Yeah. >> Okay. How long have you lived there? >> 2 and 1/2 years. >> 2 and 1/2 years? Okay. And who is she? >> She's my girlfriend. >> Your girlfriend? Okay. How long have you guys been together? >> 6 months, 9 months. >> 9 months. >> 9 months. >> 9 months? >> Okay. >> Did you guys do anything today? >> Just hanging around. >> Okay. >> Beach. Uh you see I have sunburn. >> Sunburn? >> Yeah. >> Did you have breakfast today? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Where'd you go? >> Uh So, we had breakfast. We stopped for like croissants >> Okay. >> at the 24/7 bakery. >> Okay. >> And then we went to the restaurant, I think. >> Okay. What was it called? Do you remember? No? Do you remember where it was? >> Somewhere here. >> Okay. So, maybe Marker 88? Sound familiar? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Okay. All right. Uh what did you have at Marker 88 to eat? >> I don't remember. Some fish. >> Okay. And she ate, too, as well? >> I think so, yeah. >> You ate together? Yeah. Okay. >> What do you mean you think so? You were sitting right there with her. >> And at any point in time did you fail to pay for your tab? >> Uh No, not really. >> Okay. So, you paid for your your tab? >> I think so, yeah. >> Okay. Did you pay cash? >> Yeah. >> You paid >> We left the cash, yeah. >> You left cash? Okay. Did you pay with a card? >> No, I think we paid cash. >> Okay. Cash. Which one of you paid? >> I paid cash. >> You paid cash? >> cash. >> So, you did or you think you did? >> Do you remember? >> Like 200, 20, 20, 30 something. >> 20 or 40? >> 240 to 120 something like that. >> Okay. And you paid cash? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> 230. >> So, where where did you go for dinner? >> Uh Some other fish place. I don't remember. >> Chef Michael's? Very fancy? Low lighting? >> And they went into the fancy restaurant rocking uh no worries tank top and straight off the beach. >> Big fish? >> Big fish on it? >> Uh >> He knows he's screwed. >> 5 minutes away from here. >> Okay. And did you also fail to pay them, too? >> No. >> Okay. So, how did you pay? With a card? >> Uh no, with the cash. >> With cash? Okay. And how much was your tab? >> How much >> Central 2 Station 14 copy A medical >> I'm not going to lie to you. You did not pay for either of those. Okay. We know that you did not. Sir, we know that you did not. We got two reports from both of the restaurants saying that you did not pay. I have you on camera with that shirt on at Marker 88. So, >> So, what? I left cash. >> Okay. You did not pay, sir. You did not You did not pay >> See, this is the game. You say you leave cash and then somebody else stole it. But, that this game's not going to work today. >> for your tab. That's why they called us. They don't call us for no reason, right? >> but okay. >> Okay. >> I left cash and we left. >> Okay. Well, I'm letting you know. Go ahead. >> Like my sergeant said, okay? How about the second restaurant? Listen, sorry, you're just confusing me. >> Okay, she said that she was talking about the lunch spot. All right, then she asked you about dinner. You said you paid cash at both. >> Yep. >> All right. We know you didn't pay at that one and we know you didn't pay at that one. >> May I ask you just just just to confirm, how do you know that? Have you been there? >> Yes, we actually have the receipts and everything from both >> We got camera footage at both places. >> So No, I understand but >> Listen, it it was it was a mistake, that's fine. And we can talk to them and we can explain that to them. Okay, no, no, that's fine. >> I hear you. Like I paid and then like just randomly like someone pulled me over and saying that I'm not I didn't pay. >> Okay, you didn't pay at either of those. Was >> confusing me. >> Okay, was there a misunderstanding at Marker 88? >> No. >> No? >> No. >> Okay. We're trying to help you out here, okay? >> Thank you. Thank you. >> I know that I know right now that you are lying to me and I >> lying. I'm >> Sir, I know that you're lying to me. I can tell by your body language. I can tell by your behavior. >> of me like I'm just >> Okay. You're wearing clothes. >> I think drink coffee like I just fully loaded like I don't know what I'm doing. >> It's our job. It's our job. >> I know, but I don't know what I've done wrong. >> Okay, you did not pay at the restaurant there and you did not pay at the restaurant here, which is why they reported your vehicle, a blue Volkswagen. >> Um okay, so maybe at one restaurant you leave some cash, somebody steals it before the waitress comes along and picks it up, maybe. I'm one of these people, I'm always concerned about that. I leave it, I like slow walk out the door so that I can make sure that the waiter or the waitress sees that I paid the bill. Um and most of the times you're going to pay and you're going to get some cash back so that you can leave the tip, whatever it is that you're going to do. This guy uh it's it may maybe it happens at one restaurant. It's not happening at two and it's certainly not happening at that high uh falutin restaurant that they went to the second place. He knows that they didn't pay. >> with the two of you inside that you left and you did not pay. So, if there was a misunderstanding, just let us know that. We'll tell the restaurant that and we'll talk to them, okay? That way you're not in trouble and you guys can be on your way. >> Okay. But listen me out. Like >> Okay, yeah, yeah. >> What if I paid >> Mhm. >> and now someone tell me like you didn't pay. Like what if >> What's kind of a coincidence that at both restaurants >> I understand. I understand. >> You know what I mean? It's kind of kind of far-fetched. >> I understand that, but as far as I remember, in the morning we left the place cuz we we've been like uh >> As far as he remembers. >> in rush and just left the place. I left some cash on the table. >> So, you guys were in an argument and you left. >> Yeah, we just left and I left I left cash on the table. >> Okay. >> Uh with extra tips, but I didn't count >> Uh-huh. Oh, with extra tips. What's extra tips? Is that I don't understand what extra tips is. Either you tip or you don't. There is no I I mean you just you can maybe you paid 30%, 40%, maybe you paid 10%, 15%. I don't know what he determines is extra tips. There's the bill and then there's the tip. There the tip is whatever you decide to give it. It's not extra. It's whatever you decide that you're going to give them. >> How many sure how tips I left there, but >> I left it under the plate. >> Mhm. >> Okay. >> That's what I usually do. Like I usually let leave the Sorry for my >> It's okay. >> I usually leave like cash under the the plate and I just go. >> Okay. Well, I think it's a little strange that both restaurants are reporting that you didn't pay and you just left, okay? Okay. For me to help you >> So what should I do? >> Okay. For me to help you, you have to tell me the truth so I can >> That's true. I I I left the cash. I left cash. Uh >> Sir. >> I'm not going to argue with you. >> I hear you and I don't I don't want to argue with you either. I want to help you. I really want to help you. >> Thank you. >> If you would like to write an apology to to the restaurant or something to talk to them, we can do that. >> Uh >> But if you don't tell me the truth, I don't know you know? >> You have to understand me, too. >> Okay. >> Like I left some cash and now someone's telling me that I didn't pay. >> Okay. >> I'm not going to argue with >> This is their game they play. >> But at the same time you have to understand me. Why would I pay double for something like I paid already? >> No, I hear you. >> like but on the other hand, I don't want to have any troubles cuz I'm a lawful citizen. So >> Okay. >> Tell me Like what should I do? Like I don't even understand like >> Okay. Do me a favor. You're going to take a seat in the car and then I'm going to ask your girlfriend to step out, okay? Ask her to step out same time. >> Uh-oh. Man, step out for me. There's the shirt, matches the description. And look, folks, these guys went into the restaurant. I mean, you got to be a little bit more respectful to the restaurant, too. I mean, look at what she's wearing when in the restaurant. He went in with a tank top and shorts. And uh I mean could just present yourself a little bit better than this. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> We're going to ask you some questions. >> We're going to ask you some questions, all right? But, we're going to I'm going to read this to you. All right. Before we ask you any questions, you must understand your rights. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against >> Got to got to back off the the filler, the lip filler. Got to definitely pump the brakes on that. >> It's your right. With these rights in mind, do you wish to talk to us? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Where are you from? >> I used to live in New York. I come from Russia. >> From Russia? >> Yeah, I used to live in New York like 11 years. >> Mhm. >> And now I came to live with my friend. >> You came here? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Tell me what you guys did today. >> Dayton. Is this a guy? Are you I don't >> Nothing. Just have a dinner at the boat. All right. Barbecue chicken. >> What did you eat for breakfast? What did you guys have for breakfast today? >> I don't know. Some place somewhere there. >> Huh? >> Place somewhere there. I don't know. >> Okay. How about for lunch? >> Nowhere. >> Nowhere for lunch? No? Okay. How about for dinner? >> Uh the place somewhere here, too. I don't know. >> What's the name of it? What did it look like? >> Some place with fish. >> With the fish? >> Yeah. >> They had a big picture of a fish? >> So, she's putting them at there as well. So, I mean, obviously, we know that they were there, but they're also acknowledging that they were there. So, that's, like I said, a step. >> I I don't know. >> You don't know? >> No. >> Okay. So, she said she don't know where she went to lunch. >> Okay. It's a It's like restaurant. >> Okay. >> What is it? >> I know you know. >> What did you eat? >> Fish. >> Okay. So, >> escargot, like fish. >> Does Marker 88 sound familiar? >> Which one? >> Marker 88. >> Yes. Yes, that's the name. >> Okay. All right. How about >> That was That was for lunch? >> What? >> That was for lunch? >> No, it was for dinner. >> That was for dinner? >> Yeah. >> Okay. How about Chef Michael's? Sound familiar with the big fish on it? >> Yes, yes, yes. >> Yes. Okay. So, what if I told you that I have you on video at both places and you did not pay when you left? >> Okay. >> Okay. Did you pay for your meal before you left at both restaurants? >> I don't know. >> You don't know. Okay. You either did or you didn't. You can't leave the restaurant until you pay. That's kind of >> It's been >> Okay. Well, I pay for my own meals. >> No, I'm not never. >> No, you didn't pay? >> No, never. >> Okay. Did you see your husband pay? >> No. >> No, you didn't see him pay? >> Like my mom told me and you're I trust you. >> Okay. Okay. So, you didn't see him pay at either either restaurant. >> I not looking at this, never. >> Okay. How does he normally >> He should. >> With his credit card? >> Yeah. >> Yeah, with his credit card. Okay. Every time? >> Like for my card or his card. >> Okay. Does he carry like a large sum of cash on him ever? >> Never. >> Never? >> No, ever. >> Okay. >> Every time. >> Every time his card? Every time his card? >> Every Every time card >> and cash. Card and cash? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> You said he he pays every time with a card. >> He He's have a >> Dating and I think this is a guy. So, >> [laughter] >> So, the comments on the original video says, "9 months dating. I I wonder if he knows yet." Um definitely he's got it's it's throwing that vibe out at me. >> Perish sometimes like once a month. Like sometimes. >> Okay. So, you know you both didn't pay. >> Really? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> They know. >> pay and the restaurants both called to let us know that. Okay? >> Okay. >> So, and what I was trying to explain to your husband is if he was being honest with me >> a card. I can like call the >> hear me out. Hear me out. If he was being honest with me, I can help you guys and hopefully talk to the restaurant. Okay? >> please. >> Could I do that? >> Yeah. >> Okay, but I need >> You can't wait like 10 you know, 10 minutes to not hit your vape? >> to be honest with me so that we can take care of it and I can speak to the restaurant. >> Okay. >> Okay? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Would either of you like to write like an apology letter to the restaurant or something that way I can send it to them? >> Yeah. >> Yeah, okay. Can you grab the statement form? >> You can't cash an apology letter at the bank. They don't care about those. What you can cash though is a cat, you can deposit cash or you can take a credit card and that's exactly what these two should do and still probably get charged. That's not a flattering picture. I didn't stop it on a very flattering picture, Dayton. >> Okay, he's going to grab a statement form so you can write it out and then I'm going to talk to your husband one more time and see if he can tell me the truth and be honest with me, okay? >> Okay. >> Okay. >> I don't know what like happened. Like we didn't pay or we didn't pay. >> Okay. Okay, now I'll talk to your husband again, okay? And then we'll clear everything up. We'll talk to the restaurant. >> Like how it's like going to look? >> Yeah, however you write an apology letter. >> Like I'm sorry I have to something like that? >> Yeah. >> Really? >> Yeah. Seriously. I'm serious. >> You're not. >> You're not serious. >> Okay. >> What would you do like >> Can can you step come out of the car for me? >> If we pay like let's say >> I'm pulling out of Flanders. >> Are they living in their car? Oh, no. No. >> Okay. >> If you would pay like >> Yeah, I hear you. >> 200 bucks. >> Mhm. >> It was like that much. >> Yeah, yeah. Maybe they shorted it just because of that reason. >> waiter took it and No they didn't. 100%. >> Yeah, no I hear you. >> Cuz I haven't seen the the the actual bill at the end. I was just assuming >> Turn around. Take down. >> And at the end I just left the money and we left. >> I mean yeah. >> honest with you. I'll be really honest with you. I have a good boss right now. >> Okay. Yeah, no I see. >> We've been arguing like >> Guys, I'm going to be real honest with you. I got goosebumps. >> [laughter] >> What the This has nothing to do with what we're talking about here, okay? Uh >> twice today. >> Okay. Sorry, we have to because we can't see anything and we don't want nobody to hit us. No no, if you guys could stand here for me. Just stand here for me. >> Cuz we've been we've been arguing like twice. And twice I had to leave like emergency like like right now. >> Is that Is that accurate? >> Yeah. >> You guys have been arguing today? >> I left some cash. I'll be honest with you. My My was not enough. >> You didn't leave any. >> You have to understand me too. >> Yeah, it wasn't enough cuz you left zero. Okay? That's why it wasn't enough. You didn't leave $200. Quit playing the game. But see most restaurants don't really have cameras, you know, they want to respect people's privacy inside. Some do. I'm I'm assuming they do, but I don't know that every restaurant has coverage for every table in the restaurant. And then you and and sometimes it's too dark in there, too. And then this guy knows that. So, the fact that he's saying he used cash tells me this is like the the title of this says, "Serial Dine and Dashers." This is not their first or second time. They do this all the time and uh they got caught. >> But, I'm okay to pay. But, I really feel bad to pay twice. Even like >> that you already paid for. Yeah. >> I'm okay to pay the money right now. Like, it's not an issue. The issue that someone telling me you didn't pay at all. >> It's It's up to the restaurant. It's up to the victim on what they want to do. Okay? >> Please press charges. >> We didn't do anything. Like >> Food. >> Look Look at her standing back there. She knows that he's just spinning lies and she she is uh trying to just stay out of it, I guess. I don't know. >> You don't pay for your food? You understand? >> Basic rule, yes, I understand, but you you might This This is the same thing. Oh, it's it's not like it's proven 100%. >> A show-up is organized for the restaurant manager to further confirm the suspects' identities. >> So, what we're going to do right now in a couple of minutes we're going to do a show-up, okay? >> So, a show-up is where we bring them by in the car. They're sitting in the front seat, back seat. And typically what we do is we shine our spotlight on the the suspects or the people that were and we drive by and say, "Are these the people?" So, the idea is they can't see into the police car, but the the person inside can see and identify them. >> So, I'm going to read you these instructions and then you're going to go ahead and and sign, okay? >> Okay. >> In a moment, you are going to have the opportunity to view a person or persons who have may or may or may not be the person who committed the crime being investigated. you need medical care? You should not guess feel like you have to make identification. It is just as important to exclude innocent persons as it is to identify the person who committed the crime. >> Hold on 1 second. 1 second. Hello? Affirm, and how like percentage? Ask her for percentage. >> 110, 210, 310%. >> 310%. That sounds pretty sure. 110%, 210%, 310%. >> Okay, perfect. Um and she's 100% sure that there was no money left on the table, under a plate, under anything. >> Ma'am. >> Sir. >> So, when they left the table, was there any money on the table? Not even a credit card, and there was nothing? >> No, probably not. >> And you were the server? >> I wasn't the server this time. The manager of the server came to me. >> All right, so then >> He's like, "I just went outside and looked for the car. They're gone." And he cuz he thought he was going to have to pay for the bill. So, he was like, "What the >> So, there was no money? >> Nothing. >> Okay. >> This >> So, that's the thing is a lot of times if the waiter or waitress is short, they end up having to cover it. So, they're not going to take and pocket the money and then, you know, say that they left without paying. They're going to get stuck with it either way. And so, for them, it's better off to just say, "Hey, they didn't pay." And tell the truth. >> Still an affirm? So. What do you got? Okay. All right. So, you guys are going to jail today. So, I'm putting you guys on your back. >> I don't know how you do it in Russia, but here, can't steal, can't uh dine and dash. At least they're not making the situation They're not making the situation worse by resisting. We see that all too often. >> You guys cannot leave a restaurant and not pay for your tab. Whatever Whatever you want to tell a judge or an attorney, whatever the case, you guys can do that, okay? Let's go this way. 6103 myself and 6111 is going to have one in custody. All right. >> It's the tie. >> Okay, we'll check it for you, okay? Let me just take this off of you. I'm going to put this here, okay? Do you have anything on you that's going to stick me, poke me, anything like that? Okay. Okay, you're going to lean against the car for me. Just wait there. Tell me if it's too hot, all right? Just making sure you don't have nothing here. Okay. Okay. Okay, and you don't have anything in your shirt. Lean forward. Like that. Okay. Okay, and your socks. >> Central two stations. >> And take a seat. There's nothing in there. Watch your head, okay? All right, let me grab your phone, okay? >> Okay, thank you. Let me just pay that. What What's the problem? I'll pay them. No problem. >> It's too late. They want to put up an aiding prosecution. They want you to pay the price. Shouldn't have Shouldn't have left without paying. That's That's out of the That's out of the question now, okay? Just go ahead. Take a seat for me. >> All right. >> The couple were both charged with one count of swindle to defraud operator of food or lodging. Swindle to defraud an operator of food or lodging. I mean, probably a misdemeanor. Probably uh uh released or paid a bond. Some state, you know, like Florida, we've done a lot of videos out of Florida. They can pay a bond and be and go. Uh here in Arizona, you would go to jail for the night if we booked them in, and they wouldn't get out until they saw the judge. Depends on when you get booked in what time. The judge will see you like at 3:00 in the afternoon on the weekdays and 10:00 a.m. on the weekends. And so if you miss that court date, you wait till the next day. But they'll the judge has to see anybody we arrest within 24 hours. So we always make sure that the judge sees them. Now with these video uh IAs initial appearances then it makes it easier to make sure that the judge sees everybody. So Yeah. Look, I don't like thieves at all. And then a thief and a liar, even worse. That's what we got here. We got somebody that was lying. Two restaurants said they didn't pay. One, eh, you make it happen. Two, no, you were doing it. And you didn't have the sense to do it in at least a different city. You did it basically in the same dadgum area. And you're dressed like this, which people are not going to forget that. You're not going to forget this. So uh yeah. I'm glad they got caught. I'm glad they got arrested and booked in for the night. And uh hopefully they learn a pretty hard lesson. I doubt there's going to be a lot of stiff consequences on the backside, but at least they went through jail for the night. And hopefully they had to pay, but my guess is they do this all the time and they probably got away with it a lot more than they got caught. And I'm glad it finally caught up with them. So let me know what you think. Comment, like, subscribe. I'll catch you on the next video.
