The man was charged with simple assault and resisting an officer for his aggressive behavior and refusal to comply with deputies. Two years later, Joel made news headlines after getting arrested in South Carolina. A man was arrested Sunday after causing a disturbance in Shem Creek. According to Mount Pleasant police, Joel Graton was charged with felony of threatening a public official among other charges. An incident report states Graton was asking others to get on their boat before being told no. The report says he then began jumping into others' boats before fleeing in the Shem Creek waterway. He eventually swam for around an hour before the Charleston Harbor unit and Coast Guard were called in to help. He was taken into custody by Mount Pleasant police. It didn't stop there, though. Joel went back to Minnesota and managed to make headlines again after getting arrested in January 2026 at the ice protest at Marion Square. Joel, who was not affiliated with the protesters, was charged with disorderly conduct and carrying a concealed knife. According to a news report, he was arrested for disrupting the protest by taking a microphone. We'll keep checking to see what he does next.
