On Friday, November 22nd, 2024, around 4:00 a.m., Michigan City police were dispatched to Elmwood Avenue and Oakwood Street for two individuals looking through cars. Police arrived in the area and observed a man dressed entirely in black lurking in a yard. Offi- That's not suspicious. cers also noticed several motion-activated lights in the neighborhood had been triggered and multiple parked vehicles were found with their doors ajar. Ronald was charged with two counts of stealing retaining a financial transaction device without consent, three counts of unlawful possession of They better not tell me at the end of this that they did nothing, that the prosecutor dropped the charges. I'll be ticked off if that's what had this ends up as. >> a financial transaction device, two counts of assaulting, resisting, or obstructing a police officer, aggravated indecent exposure, and lying to a police officer on a 1-to-4-year crime investigation. Ronald's bond was set at $50,000, which he did not post. He spent 158 days in jail awaiting trial before ultimately pleading guilty to one count of unlawful possession of a financial transaction device, two counts of assaulting, resisting, or obstructing a police officer, and one count of aggravated indecent exposure. On April 29th, 2025, he was sentenced to 365 days in jail with credit for the 158 days time served, 2 years of probation, and $237.60 in fine. >> Please tell me I have to write this. >> paid as of the date this episode was written. He was also ordered to not possess credit cards or ID cards not issued to him. He should be registered as the sex offender because of the indecent exposure as well. I'd love to see if that happened, but 365 days for all of this for all that behavior, the criminal behavior, the spitting, the resisting, the kicking, all of this, he got 365 days. Better than some of these, I mean, at least they didn't drop the charges like a lot of them do, so. Just not enough time. They didn't seem to give him enough time. Michigan, you got to do better.
