Police departments nationwide continued to confront troubling incidents. This man was knocked unconscious by an officer working bar security. How are you, sir? How are you, sir? What are we doing? And in Ohio, an off-duty deputy working security at Walmart used a taser on a cab driver after there was a dispute about whether or not he had stopped in a fire lane. So, apparently, there's a magical time of day when police authority turns off. You know, when an officer is off-duty, but still in uniform, still armed, still giving commands. And when something goes wrong, suddenly it's "Oh, they were off-duty." Right. Off-duty. With a badge, a gun, and a patrol car. If police power doesn't clock out, neither should accountability. Thin blue lies, baby.
