Officers have no idea what they're about to find inside this car. >> It's a decent amount of people in there, maybe kids. Hey, how are you guys doing? You have your license with you, ma'am? Thanks. The reason I stopped you is a few different reasons. One, did you buy your vehicle with the window tint like this, or did you get it done? >> Yeah, I bought it like this, and then this happened on our way here. I just drove it from Nevada. >> Yeah, I caught that. That's a pretty decent crack right where your view's supposed to be at. You got a dog in the back? >> Yeah. >> Oh, nice. >> Wimpy. >> She's wimpy? >> She's wimpy. >> Oh, wimpy. You guys have IDs on you? >> I don't have one. >> How old are you? >> I'm 17. >> Do you have insurance registration with you for the vehicle? Do you happen to have an ID with you, sir? >> Yeah, I have an ID on me. >> You don't? >> No. >> All right. >> Why why am I getting pulled over? >> I told you the tint, the cracked windshield, and then you shortcut through the parking lot. I know that's a weird right turn only intersection. You There's signs you make a right at the intersection, and there's some signs that loop you around the other hotel. >> I didn't know. >> You're not from here, so I wouldn't expect you to know that, but you got to obey the signs. >> I'm from here. >> Oh, you are? >> I moved to Nevada to pick up my son. >> Okay, I just saw you. That's still a good address? >> Oh, yeah, yeah. >> Thank you. Could you go ahead and write your name and your social for me? I appreciate that. All right, write your name and birthday on there for me, okay? Do you have an Ohio license? No. >> to live in Nevada. >> Oh, you're from Vegas? Okay. I'm going to talk with you out here, okay? I'm going to have my partner watch traffic. I'm going to have you step out real quick, just go over this stuff, and get you guys rolling on your way, okay? Here, let's stand off here, so we're out of it between the cars. I don't like standing between them. So, where are you guys coming from today? >> From my room. >> From the room. >> So, so I moved to Nevada, Nevada. My son was getting in half-time in trouble, so I sent him back with his dad. So, then I came out here to get him. >> Yeah, let's go back here. I'm going to write you a warning ticket, not a real ticket, a warning. Where are you guys off to today? Anything good? >> I'm getting I'm getting dropped off later. >> Oh, I got you. Where are you guys staying at? Your mom's in a got a hotel? So, how do you know the guys in the car? >> They're all my son's friends. I just saw them, they wanted to hang out. My daughter missed them, so I let them come stay the night. I got to take them all home today. >> Is your son in the car? >> Yeah. >> Which one's your son? >> middle. >> Oh, in the middle in the back. Okay. >> And then that's his best friend from Nevada. I brought him with me to kind of help help with the drive and then help get him back out there and >> Where did he go? >> keep us from arguing and just like kind of mediate. You know what I mean? >> Yeah, that's nice. >> That's him struggling with some things and I'm just trying to get him away from here. >> Yeah. >> I left too for my own struggles. I like I'll be honest, I was an alcoholic. I went to Vegas and got sober. You go to Vegas of all places and got sober. But sometimes having it in your face all the time is like enough to say no. Like I've seen bodies fall out of car doors. I think that's what did it, seeing all those accidents and drunk drivers. >> What are you doing out here from Vegas? Just visiting? Who are you visiting? What's that? >> I was just trying to really get him out of harm's way. >> Yeah. >> Away from the drugs, away from the violence. It It was too much. >> So who did you drive it back with from Vegas? >> With his friend. I brought his friend to help drive. >> Got him in the front passenger? >> Yeah, I brought him to help drive and then to help me like to help us mediate. >> Okay. >> argue a lot. You know how teenagers are. >> Yeah, yeah, he's he's locked up. He's not coming out. Are you going back to Vegas or are you staying out here? >> No, he's coming too. >> Oh, your son's coming back? >> Yeah. I got to find a place for him. So my son struggles with like the opiates. He's been sober but he's relapsed twice. The problem is that the facilities won't take them without their consent and they're minors. >> Yeah. >> Which has affected me beyond really mentally. I found out there was a place out here, that's why I really came back. And he doesn't know it yet, but he's about to be going in. I don't know how long it's going to take. >> Let me Let me Let me ask you this, your car does smell like marijuana. How much weed's in the car? >> I don't know. I'm not the one who was smoking. But before we left. >> Okay. Are they 21 and older? >> Yeah, he he is. Well, he's 20 he's about to be 21. He was smoking. >> Well, they got to be 21 and older. >> Okay. I didn't know that. >> brought the weed in the car? >> No, he was smoking before we left. I I won't let them smoke in my room. He did smoke he smoked in the car. >> Okay. >> I didn't I didn't know until I came out and smelled it and I was like, you guys like you can't do that. >> Yeah. >> You know what I mean? >> So, you guys just came out here from Vegas to visit family? How old are you, man? You're 20? Where are you guys headed to right now then? >> So, I got to take her I got to take them back to so I got to take my daughter to her sitter. I got to take my dog to the vet. So, I just got a lot of stuff to do. >> Um is there anything inside the vehicle I need to be concerned about that would be illegal in the car? Any firearms? >> Not that I know of. >> Any kind of computer equipment like skimmers, scanners, anything like credit credit cards, anything like that? >> They're better not be. >> Okay. Part and part of what we do on the roadways is to make sure there's nothing illegal going from point A to point B. Within the state, without a state, anything like that, okay? So, no firearms, no electronics. Okay. Any drugs inside the vehicle? >> Not that I know of. >> Any crack? >> No. >> Cocaine? >> No. >> Opiates? >> No. >> Marijuana, meth, anything like that? >> Not that I know of. >> Would you mind if I searched your vehicle to make sure there's nothing illegal in there? >> Yeah, I don't mind. >> You don't mind? I I can search it? >> I have nothing to hide. >> Okay. All right, thanks. I appreciate it. Uh this officer is just going to get uh your social and the phone number. That's just a warning, it's not a ticket, okay? Just you got a few issues to take care of with the car and moving violations wise, okay? She gave consent. All right, I'm going to have you step out real quick out front, okay? Do you have any Do you have any weapons on you, right? You have any drugs on you? Nothing like that, okay. Can I when you step out, can I search your person? Just to make sure. Well, I'm going to check you for weapons, so I'm going to just say step out for me, okay? Just step out for me. Okay. What do you have Wait, what do you have by your nutsack? What do you have there? What's What's by your balls? You didn't put anything in your pants. Why are you reaching down there? Hold on. We're going to pat you down, okay? You got something there. What do you got in your pocket? Can I get it? >> Uh yeah, go ahead. >> Okay. Just some weed. How old are you, man? >> I'm 20. >> You're 20? Okay. You got to be 21 to have it, all right? So, not the end of the world. I appreciate you being honest, so okay. I'm not looking to jam you up over a little bit of personal Weed search over there. You got shorts on or those boxers? >> Those are boxers, okay. You didn't tuck anything down your underwear or down your pants, nothing like that? >> No, sir. >> It's all you, man. Okay. Is that just your vape? >> Yeah, that's just my lighter. >> lighter, rather. Okay. What else you got in there? >> Uh that's that's my wallet. Cough it up. Feels like pills. >> Yeah. >> I knew he had some. Yeah, he's crotched the pills. I'm going to advise you of your rights real quick, all right? You have the right to remain silent. All right, you understand your rights, man? All right. All right, what do you have What do you have in your mouth? >> I don't have nothing, sir. >> Dude, I don't believe that with that big of a wad. >> It feels like pills or like >> It's a little crack. >> That's my balls. >> Yeah, we're going to find it. All you got to do is talk. I know there's something in there. All right, just step back from the car. If I shake it, is it going to fall out? Cuz I don't want to reach in your pants. >> No, sir. >> It's not going to fall out? >> No, I'm not lying. >> All right on. All right, let's go back in the second car. What else do you have on you? Cuz anything else you bring back to jail is going to be an F3, even if it's a roach, if it's one pill. Do you have anything else on you? I'm going to have you kick your shoes off before you get in here, okay? Are these fentanyl? Just straight up, are they pressed fentanyl? >> Yes, sir. >> They are? Okay, thanks, man. I just don't want to get that stuff, you know. It It doesn't hold up like regular pills do. I don't want to have somebody get a bunch of powder on them. >> Is there more in the vehicle? >> Uh no, sir. >> Is there more on you? >> Uh no, sir. That's That's >> You didn't seem too confident on that. So, here's what's going to happen, okay? I'll be honest with you. Thank you for being honest with me as much as you've been, okay? I get it. You don't want to get in trouble with this. All right, you're not, you know, El Chapo with this, okay? It's not a small deal, but it's not the end of the world, okay? If you have something else on you, you're going to go to jail, all right? I'm just being up front. Right now, you are going to jail, okay? For the possession of these. You're going to get strip searched in the jail, okay? If you bring anything on in you, even if it's one of these pills or anything at all like that, that's a felony three. That's a pretty high felony in Ohio. That's mandatory jail time in most cases. Is there anything else on you? Cuz I'd rather find it out here and talk with you about it than have you bring it back in there, and then the bosses don't want us really talking, you know, it is what it is. You bring something dangerous in the in the jail. >> Yeah. >> They don't They don't play with that. >> Yes, sir. No, sir. I don't have nothing else. >> Nothing else, okay. I'm going to pat you down again to make sure, okay? Is that Is that cool? How many are in there? >> A couple hundred. I really got a bad habit. >> You might have a habit. I don't doubt that. >> But that's that's all that's more in personal use. >> I want you to have a seat. I'm going to check your shoes and I'll let you put those back on, okay? If you want to sit like butt in, feet out, or that works. How much your Balenciaga shoes cost? >> Like 800. >> 800? Woo, those >> I'll put that in. >> Don't kick me, dude, okay? >> All right, cool, man. >> Thanks. Do you have a leash for your dog? >> I do. >> We're going to have everybody hop out. We do have probable cause to search everybody in the vehicle, okay? >> my primary residence. Well, he's an adult, so and you're not his mom, right? He's going back to jail. It's his business. If he wants to tell you, he can, okay? It was drugs. They had drugs in the car, so. >> The kids are now all removed from the vehicle and searched. The driver's dog is also removed as officers are about to search every inch of this vehicle. >> This dude in the front had He had two phones and he was He had like her phone, too, and that was weird. >> Dude, she's got two more phones in her purse. >> Dude, I I hate this. You think this is ashes? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> That's not right. >> If they're driving back and forth between here and Nevada a bunch, I would not be surprised if we found something hidden. >> There's a crossbody bag under here. That's a gun. >> Yep. >> Baby girl. >> You want to run it and keep looking up there? >> Yeah. Thanks. I got one of these, but it has like a coating that covered up the serial number. >> Oh, that's not good for him. >> It was under his seat, so. >> It's just like they always are. >> Hey, feel the headrests. That's factory, but that feels like a box in there. Does yours feel like that? Did you go through the center console already? Or no? All right, I was working on it. >> Dude, do you see how those seams look? >> Yeah, both of them are like that. Yeah, it's definitely been taken apart. Dude, this car's been ripped. >> We should probably see if those dudes want to get a search warrant for that hotel room. >> Officers went on to find 153 g worth of blue pills that were located under the front passenger seat and the center console with an estimated street value of up to $65,000. Dispatch also informed officers that the firearm they found was entered as stolen out of Las Vegas. With everything they found, officers now consider searching the hotel room the suspects were staying in. >> Hey, man. Do you guys still have the room or did you guys check out? >> Oh, we got it. >> You still have it? It's for another night? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Would you give us consent to search that room? >> For what? >> Well, the amount of stuff we found in here is pretty concerning. >> What have you found? >> We found a gun and drugs. >> Wait. Wait. What do you have? >> I'm asking for consent for the room. You don't have to grant it. >> I mean, I have >> Okay. So, are we allowed to search it or no? You could say yes or no. >> I don't know. >> Okay. That's fine. >> Why are they taking me? >> Exactly. We're going to figure out where we're going to take you back to our station. >> So, what's going on? >> You know what's going >> Am I getting arrested? What am I Why am I getting arrested? Oh my >> We're going to advise you of your rights right now. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. >> Why am I being arrested? >> You know why you're being arrested. >> What are my charges? >> Your car is loaded with >> Oh my god. How many drugs? >> Your car is loaded with drugs. >> Oh my god. I mean, I I know people say it's not theirs, but it's really not mine. Sorry. Okay. >> Do you understand what stop moving means? Because you keep hurting your wrist. >> I know cuz it's It's broken. My shoulder it needs surgery. So, I'm being charged with everything? >> You're getting charged with trafficking and drugs. >> But I was driving and it was my car. Am I allowed to be cuffed in the front? >> No. >> No? >> Unfortunately, not. You may >> Can I just like >> Sit on the side like this? >> Yeah. >> Yeah, that's fine. >> My shoulder is torn. I need like full reconstruction. >> Yeah. All right. Well, we're like 2 miles away, so. >> All right. Thank you. >> You're welcome. >> Yeah. Thank you. >> According to court records, Lee was later indicted on the charges of two counts of felony drug trafficking, two counts of felony drug possession, felony receiving stolen [music] property, felony possessing criminal tools, and three counts of endangering children. She took a plea deal, pleading guilty to one count of drug trafficking, one count of receiving stolen property, one count of possessing criminal tools, and one count of endangering children, while all other charges were dropped. She was sentenced to two years of probation for each [music] count, totaling eight years of probation, and was released back into the public. The male passenger, 20-year-old Canado, was initially held on a $1 million bond. He was also later indicted on two counts of felony drug trafficking, two counts of felony drug possession, carrying concealed weapons, felony [music] improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, felony receiving stolen property, and felony possessing criminal tools. He took a plea [music] deal, pleading guilty to one count of drug trafficking, one count of improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, and one count of receiving stolen property, [music] while all other charges were dropped. He was sentenced to a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of 15 years in prison at the Lorain Correctional Institution. He will be between 30 and 35 years old when he is released in between 2034 and 2039. >> Police later searched the hotel room, and the report says they found two polka dot magic chocolate bars and seven more cell phones. But, what bothers me most isn't the drugs or the gun. Lee's mother reportedly told police she was glad her daughter had been arrested because she was worried about what those children were being exposed to. There was reportedly already a previous Children and Family Services case involving a juvenile overdose at Lee's residence. One thing that caught my attention before the officers even found the drugs, Lee starts volunteering that she got sober in Vegas and that she's doing better. Now, that usually made me listen a little closer. It doesn't mean that somebody's lying, but sometimes people will give you a whole lot of information you never asked for because they're hoping to steer your instincts somewhere else. So, you don't accuse them of anything, you just keep doing your job. And what police found makes that conversation hit a little different. All the drugs hidden inside the vehicle and a stolen gun that ironically came out of Vegas. At some point, it stops being about the decisions adults make for themselves because kids don't get to choose the environment adults put them in. And sometimes, an arrest might be the very thing that gives those kids a chance to get out of it.
