Coming up. Hey, welcome. Welcome. Welcome. >> Cop and the con. Hey, listen. We got some good video. Did I cut you off, buddy? >> No, it's okay. I'm used to it. Listen. Listen, you're you're not used to getting cut off. I'm used to doing the cutting. >> You're doing the cutting. You're doing the cutting. >> better. Hey, listen. This is going to be a big one. I know right now a lot of people Daytona area, Daytona Beach police are are kind of freaking out a little bit and uh we we got the chief talking. There was an incident up there, Dave, and I think you had a chance to look over it briefly. >> I've seen it briefly. But it's all over the internet. >> We had a we had I think a pretty much an incident of a POP, right? What they call that? Pissed off the police. Um Man. The chief Jakari Young he's going to go ahead and give us a little rundown on, you know, kind of he's he's doing a little damage control at this point. >> But let's go ahead and hear him out. >> Police Department over the past several hours, a video circulating on social media has generated significant concern regarding an arrest made by one of my officers. Listen, boy. After a review of the body camera footage, as well as the video currently being shared online, I will acknowledge what many people have already said. The clip circulating online is concerning. >> I'm scared. After reviewing the footage and based on concerns I personally had, I directed the incident before it to the Office of Professional Standards for full review. The officer involved has been placed in an administrative assignment pending the outcome of the investigation. We expect our officers to handle every encounter with professionalism, patience, and sound judgment. De-escalation tactics are something we train on regularly and expect to be used whenever possible. Let me be clear. As chief, I will always support the men and women of the Daytona Beach Police Department when they act within the law and within our policies. At the same time, when an officer falls short of those standards, it will be addressed swiftly and appropriately. Officers are entitled to due process while the facts are carefully reviewed, and it is my responsibility to ensure this investigation is thorough and objective. As this investigation moves forward, I remain committed to being transparent with the public regarding the outcome. Mhm. I will refrain from offering my personal opinion while the internal investigation is underway so the process can proceed independently and without influence. To provide additional context to this incident, we will now show a portion of the officer's body camera footage. All right, you can bring us up big, Jonna. What do you think about the chief's statement on this? I think >> First of all, I think he looks like Mr. Potato Head. Second of all, he should have buttoned his top button. He look He didn't look too square away. Right. Okay? I'm just giving my >> good. That's good. That's what we need. I mean, I'm not a police officer, so I'm not always squared away myself. I mean, I'm more of a round away. Cop and con cops. But, um but I think he's just doing what he's supposed to do, damage control right now, cuz they know this can get All All it takes is some boys rolling in town, and here we go. Yeah, and and one thing on this one, he he's trying to jump to the gun, and he did mention that, "Hey, I'm not going to give my opinion. I'm not going to throw in anything before we look into this a little bit longer." The problem it is The problem lies, though, is the public wants answers, and they want them quick. >> Oh, yeah. Um but, I think he's doing the right thing. And And obviously, he's telling everybody, "Hey, we're going to look into this." And I know there's been a little bit of a a little bit of heat with the uh the city mayor up there in in Daytona with the chief with some past incidents. So, this is one of those things that's probably uh written on the front of his his burner to get taken care of. >> Well, the thing is whenever this happens, of course the public wants it, but I mean one thing he did say that was good is he wants to refrain because a lot of times I believe a lot of, you know, chiefs and sheriffs they jump up there and start saying what they think and then it causes more problems either way. You know what I mean? It could get him Right. you know, people attacking him saying he's just taking up for him or it can it can add more fire the other way. So, I mean he's doing his job, you know what I mean? Let's go ahead and watch the video. We'll break it down. Yeah. All right, I want to keep pause it just for a sec. Right there. So, he jumps out of the car. Yeah. He's fired up. The door opens quick. He goes, "Hey, you better pour this out. I'm going to get you for open container." >> Okay. The subject basically is defying him right off, right? >> I mean, this goes back to even when my punk days I've said some things to cops, but at that point in my life I would just go ahead and start dumping and be like, "All right, man. Thank I I I'm I'm I'm I'm out. I'm out. I'm cool. I'm out. >> Yeah. But but we live in a time where you know, if a school teacher told me to do something and I got home and I didn't do it I got smacked. So, >> Yeah. This he's a punk. You know what I mean? Like I'm not I'm not saying, you know, I've watched the video. Not saying what happens to him there. But this could have been avoided if he had dumped it out and said, "All right, man. You're right. I'm over here drinking." Obviously, he's breaking the law. Mhm. Yeah, he he threw a cork at him, too. He's a jerk. Um give it another push, gentlemen. All right, street ninja. Give us the channel. Step back. STEP BACK. STOP. STOP. STOP. STOP. YO, PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. HEY, STOP STEPPING, BRO. WHAT ARE y'all doing? Put your hands behind your back. I mean, at this point he's he's supposed to put his hands behind his back. Yeah. He's got guys. He does have officers in his defense. He's got officers in THE WHOLE PLACE. NO, BUT I'm saying He don't know what's going on. GET BACK. GET BACK. YOU GOT TO ALL RIGHT, COME ON. DO YOUR BUSINESS. Do your business. Do your business. Do your business. John, can you please pause it right there? So, they've got another officer. I don't know if he's from the same agency or not, but he's he's cuffing the guy in the very front. >> That's So, you got the guy that's on his back, and then you got a guy trying to cuff him on the front, and you're going to see later on in the video that they they remove the cuffs, and then they try to recuff him again. >> think he cuffed him in the front? You know, probably lack of lack of training. Um, because all he had to really do Why? >> But, I don't want to cut you off. >> No. You go ahead. Cuz he knows he's a kid of color and he's on the ground. Right. He's an officer of color. I'm I'm just I'm being honest. And he's like, I I want to deescalate this real quick before it before they start beating this kid up. >> Yeah, I I think >> I think, but that's what >> I think. I think. I think the guy had his hands out front, and I I just think it's lack of experience knowing that hey, listen, let real arm back behind you. Put it behind you. Um, because you know, 101 law enforcement, you don't cuff anybody like that. You know, and And I think the other officers like didn't want to like mess with it. Hey, no, I'm not What are you doing? This is But, but, but I mean, I think a lot of times on these things we dance around what really's going on. Like, right? Like, what if we we've seen this a thousand times. We know it goes bad. Yeah. >> If If the white cops start jumping on him and doing whatever, I think he was just trying to get it like the kid's not going to listen. I just I want to stop this I want to stop this as soon as possible. And and and I'm not saying either one of them are wrong or right. I'm just saying as an observation, that's what I I I I think he was doing. >> The problem is when you cuff him in the front, he's actually got a like a little bit of a tool now. He's got the cuffs, he's got all that, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I could be wrong, too. I'm just saying that's what that's the first thing I thought like he's like little brother's got a loud mouth, we better get this taken care of real fast cuz it's going to go bad. He might know the officer like this kid's this guy's a whatever, you know. >> control. Give her a little push. 10-12 Get back. Get back. All right, what else? Come on. What else? That's crazy, bro. So now what he's doing is he's taking his cuffs. >> you come over here, you're going to go to jail. And he's trying to figure out, okay, now I got to get the other guy's cuffs off so I can put my cuffs on. >> That just turns into a big cluster. Yeah. You like being on my back or what? >> Freeze that real quick. You like being So the longer you keep him on the ground, longer you got him in that situation proned out with people around >> Mhm. is a bad situation. >> Right. So what you need to do is just basically at this point pick him up, stand him up, do all that stuff over somewhere else over by the car or if they've got cuffs that they need to swap out, that can be done later. Right. I mean, I would never let him stand up with the cuffs in front of him anyway, but you know, probably try to figure this out. Well, you you're going to see it turns out to be a a problem here in a little bit. Yeah, go ahead. Move around, bro. You like being on my back or what? I yeah, I'm complying. What are we doing? Put your hands up. So now he's got to go ahead, he's got to take those cuffs off. He just called someone. This right here is a a bad situation all the way around. >> Dumb ass. Stupid ass. How many times you get called a people? I got called a lot of names. White cracker mofo. White cracker mofo, many times. Yeah, he stood him up. Got him cuffed, stood him up. Hey, this is police work. You can get him for Yeah. He's mad he got slammed. His liquor's Yeah. The cop broke the bottle in the middle of the thing. Yeah, did he? What an idiot. Yeah. Pause it real quick. Come on, man. He's going to put that charge on >> So, yeah. So, battery on a law enforcement officer, what? There is There is no battery at this point that I can see. I Throwing a cork, throwing something at him, going like this Basically, we have a POP. So, that's a pissed off police. And I got to come up with something to take this guy to jail. >> He would get him for disorderly conduct or something, but but but listen, two things the police officer did. Dumped out the liquor, and then he broke the bottle. Used to have a kid in my neighborhood break a bottle in his mom's driveway. Yeah? Yeah, he drink a 40-oz bottle and break it in his mom's driveway. Does that make ANY SENSE? NO. IT'S LIKE BREAKING A TV. Have you ever got mad enough to break a TV? Okay, Dave. I've also broke a windshield and then had and then in the same action called the guy to come back and fix it. Is that pure ignorance? >> So, you So, but the bottle I think the bottle got broken too, and a little defense for law enforcement on this one is for some reason he thought that that guy was like taking off. He threw the bottle down, or maybe dropped the bottle and was like, "I got to get this guy in the custody." Um he really didn't have any really didn't have anything at that point. I mean, I will tell you >> for for uh what the main charge was from the beginning. If he still wanted to charge him with it, he could have charged him with What happens is law enforcement officers do not like to be told the word word no, and they don't like to be shown up. They don't like to be disrespected. But, I you had a good analogy the other day. If you if you piss off a nurse in the hospital, and you call her names, >> start grabbing you and swinging around stabbing you with the IV. But, I've had some not nice nurses lately in my Right. It's hard It's hard to be professional sometimes, but you got to be. Yeah. That's the bottom line. They stuffing him in the car. Let's go ahead. >> Let's go ahead. No, didn't I? I don't care. Almost took you out, didn't He made him mad. He made him mad. >> Yeah. HE NOT OVER THERE FIGHTING YOU. STOP. NOW, HE'S GOING back on the ground. I almost took you out, didn't I? Almost took you out. I almost took you out. They slow it down. PUNCH. PUNCH. HOW DO YOU GET OUT OF THE CUFFS? GO CAN you go back that just roll that back just Just like it slide it back just a little bit. Okay, he's going up to the car. There he goes. Well, what he says is I almost took you out, didn't I? >> Yeah. So, he's he's in the cuffs right now. Man, he's going to go to the ground here in just a second. What? We're not through the cork at you. I'm going to search you. Yep. I almost took you out, didn't I? I almost took you out, didn't I? I don't care. I almost took you out, didn't I? Now, he's going down. HE NOT OVER THERE FIGHTING YOU. STOP. MAYBE SLIPPED IT RIGHT THERE. I ALMOST TOOK YOU OUT, DIDN'T I? I ALMOST HIS HANDS OUT. HE'S HIS HANDS BACK OUT. OH, damn it. That's wrong too, what he's doing. There's enough law enforcement there to have this thing. So, bomb pile. He didn't hurt him, but he can't hit him in his face. Then he brings out taser. >> Yeah, he's a [ __ ] Well, this guy really is probably fairly easy to handle, but it just he's just riding on him. He's just riding on him. Look how this fellow is on the police officer's arm. Okay, look how little his arms are. Look at his little bitty wrists. I'll swing him around and drag him across the asphalt. The subject wasn't complying. Right, the subject was not doing what he was supposed to be doing. I get it, but we got it to a point where it's just a frustration thing. You guys are yeah, okay, we'll wait for him. I'm saving EVERYTHING RIGHT NOW. HE'S PUSHING his face. He's he's getting on HIS ARM, TOO. HIS ARM'S TURNED. >> YEAH, HE'S YEAH. THAT'S that's that's that hurts. NOW, handcuffs aren't comfortable, dude. >> Well, they're not supposed to be. But buddy, yeah, I've been on the back side of this guy. It's not comfortable. And I'm not as limber as this little fellow, if you know what I mean. Did you I thought you were gymnast. No, back in I think he's coming Jim Carrey. You seen that movie? Jim Carrey? Funny movie and he's a he does the gymnast. Look at it. Yeah, his arm was This irritates me. I'm not going to lie to you guys. If we freeze that right there. Now the taser goes to the neck. Yeah. Get him out of I'm complying. He knows he don't want it. I'm complying. What are you doing? So, one of the things too, and you can bring this up full. One of the things too, Dave, is these these subjects know what the words are. I'm complying. I'm complying. The reality is they're not complying. But but we got a huge frustration issue with this with this law enforcement officer. Go go for it. >> Here's the thing, okay? Been on both sides of this. Not the law, but I've been a guy who tries to be the best law-abiding citizen I can cuz I've worked hard to change my life, okay? If police pulled me over right now, I'd say yes, sir. No, sir. Here's this. Or even if I didn't agree with something, okay? I'd comply. Even in my craziest day, I complied, but there was times I didn't, okay? What this adds up to, just like I said, a school teacher when when a kid goes, "No, Ms. Smith." She can't jump on his desk, start hitting him, and punching him. Or the nurse when I say, "Hey, uh where's this and this?" She don't start stabbing me. Okay, you're a police officer. Your head You're held to a standard. Let's break it down where this is going to go. He's a kid of color. He's a white police officer. It's over. Reality. It's over with, right? It happens all the time. He deals with probably kids of color all the time. Kids of color probably That kid feels a certain way about police officer. Now, when he pulled up, was the kid a punk from the beginning? If the kid I've been in that situation of a kid with alcohol and not supposed to have it in the street. And I've been a man, pulled up and said, "Hey, you better start dumping that beer out before a rookie cop gets here and you're in trouble." You know what I said? Yes, sir. No problem. And I left. I didn't go to jail, okay? So, he could have stopped all that from the beginning. But once it escalated and he he's got him down, he punched him cuz that kid made him mad, and he couldn't handle his emotions. He should not He should not be a police officer because if he if that made him mad, I'm sure you went through a thousand more things worse than that. Yeah. And you didn't just start punching a kid in the head. Yeah. No, I I've been through I've been through the exact same scenarios. You've got to hold your cool. And I will tell you that a lot of times I've been in situations where we would actually have to tap out another police officer and have somebody else come in and say, "Hey, let me let me let me take care of it." >> Right. Because you cuz you are frustrated. You are mad. But like you said, you've got to be professional at all times. You've got to make sure you don't put yourself in a situation. I used to always say when I was a police officer, "Listen, nobody nobody is going to piss me off enough where I'm going to lose my freaking career, my retirement, everything that I worked hard for, my name, reputation, all that stuff. No smart-ass kid or smart-ass subject is going to ever put me in that situation." And I say that a lot and I will stick to it. And it got me through a a 31-year career. Thank god. We wouldn't be filming a podcast today. >> I know. My god. Look at that. Jeez. We'd be in trouble if that that old retirement gone We need that retirement. You can get a part-time job when you get here earlier. No, but but in reality, we were talking about this, you know, cameras. You said a lot of people didn't want cameras when they got them, but you know, it keeps a lot of people It It's just like not cussing when you're talking to the preacher. Mhm. You know what I mean? Like it's amazing how the words you won't use when you're around certain people, or your mom or whoever, right? So, it's the same thing when when a lot of police officers, I believe, just like locks, locks do nothing but keep an honest person out. It would be Me, personally, as soon as he would have said, "Here, you do it." I would have grabbed him and piledrived him on his head >> Right. >> and do whatever, cuz I'm that type of person. And and and that's what it is. But so that's why I'm not a police officer. You know what I'm saying? And we put this stuff on our We already put this up on our YouTube channel once before without the narration. Yeah. >> Yeah. Um Jonah, from an outside looking in, from a perspective from from your side, what do you What's your thoughts? I think that the officer lost control. I think it would have been very important for you to do what what you suggested after switch out officers, right? Even though he was the the supervising officer, he got there probably first on the scene, right? So, he was the commanding officer, but once he lost control, I think someone else should have should have taken over because he he let his emotion get the best of him. Yeah. No, yeah, I agree. I think he should get a job at a gated community. Yeah. Hey, hey, give me your ID, sir. He's probably going to be He's probably going to be >> Well, this is going to be When the boys roll in town, House Harpton and the boys roll in town, it's over with. And I'm not saying Listen, I don't care if you're white, brown, green, yellow, or not. I've been arrested. There's times I've said way worse than what this kid's ever even thinking about saying. I've laid on my face with it in the ground. I've had my ribs broke, number nine and 10 by the boot heel of a cop, okay? You and Kid Rock. Me and me and Kid Rock were naked eating Cheetos and Woah, woah, woah, woah. >> I'm joking. But what I'm saying is I've I knew you had a little orange skin, though. You got Hey, easy. Hey, that's my tan. That's my tan. But But no, but what I'm saying is I've been a dude down there where they got my arms all bent back and I'm like, bro, that that dude was just mad that that kid was a punk from the beginning. And he he couldn't handle it. He He probably doesn't need to be a police officer cuz what happens next time? He'll be one of those career police officers that are I mean, where I come from, we all knew the cops that would whoop you. Yeah. And back in the day, they didn't have no cameras. They get you to the elevator, pop, pop. Yeah. And and what's what's the protocol, Sam, on um using your taser? Once you deploy it, isn't it isn't it below a certain point? >> Basically, what happens when you have the taser and you go to the taser training, you have critical areas, right? So, obviously the head is a critical area. You have your you know, your chest is where you want to try to shoot for. Um but the head is is one of the kind of like the baton. We used to have the batons. We used to beat sticks, right? That the head is one of the X's. So, yeah, you you know, drive it drive stun into someone's, you know, They didn't use that X on me when he hit me in the It works just as good as if you're driving it right in the arm or wherever. So, again, He's a punk. again, you got to use professionalism. He's a punk. That cop's a punk. And that kid's a punk. What they should do is get him in backyard street beefs. Let them put some gloves on and let them both fight. And whoever wins, if the kid wins, the cop's fired. If the cop wins, the kid has There's no charges. Yeah, no, I agree. Hey, listen Listen, anything else to add, Dave? John, anything else to add? It irritates me when I see cop punch somebody in the head like that. And I'm usually I'm not saying the kid wasn't a punk. He should have went If you want to be a punk and say you do it and do all that, you went to jail. Yeah. All that extra stuff, you know, you're cop, bro. Like you're held to a Like you know, you you everybody's held to a standard, you know what I mean, in life. And so, Here's the thing, too. Anytime you know that someone is over you, I mean, what's a number one's man need for respect, right? Anytime you know that someone is over you, you better comply. It's just smart. And you can you can argue it later, but comply and get it get it taken care of at that point. But no man wants another man over him in front of the back yard. No. No. No, I get it. I get it. Listen. Hey, we want you to like, subscribe, share, comment below. Watch the rest of the the uh Cop and Con videos. We got a bunch of good ones. And we just break it down.
