on August 22nd 2022 just before 10:30 a.m. Kenwick police and Benton County deputies responded to a welfare check at Circle K on W to shoots a they found James West asleep in a vehicle when they tried to wake him West reached for a firearm and fled on foot no just turn the car off right now don't don't get out the car back up back up leave meone on the ground get on the ground get on the drop the gun despite being tasered he ran toward an apartment complex drawing his gun ignoring commands to drop the weapon he fired a shot and entered the complex any fire yeah West then raised the gun to his head prompting a deputy to fire D it now west fell complied with commands and was arrested he received first aid was taken to the hospital and later booked into Benton County Corrections
