Hold it here. 190 the white portion left south road. >> The heist was carried out by a coordinated group of at least six individuals. Among them, Tavvaris M. Jackson, aged 27, and his accomplice, Lamont Jackson, aged 23. Both were on parole and part of a network that had already targeted dealerships in the weeks before. That morning, they stormed Motors of Bington, spreading across the property to seize multiple high-end vehicles. The triggered alarm brought in police units who attempted to block the exits, and the suspect's response was immediate. They turned the stolen cars into weapons, setting off one of the most violent robbery and pursuit episodes in the region. >> I'm eastbound car. Uh that black farhead eastbound far ahead. I got another another Mercedes coming out a high rate of speed. They're going to run the gate. >> Another Mercedes driving the gate. >> M road get my car again. We got somebody in the woods. Somebody subject in the woods. Elund almost a mile. [Music] When officers tried to block the main gate, a squad car was rammed headon and disabled, leaving one officer injured. To escape, Jackson resorted to the same violence that had defined his record, using a stolen car as a battering ram against police. Minutes later, he abandoned the luxury vehicle he had been driving and ran toward the damaged squad car. Finding it empty, he took control of it and used it as his getaway vehicle. From that moment, the chase was no longer about luxury cars. It was about a police vehicle in the hands of a repeat offender. Move you. >> Listen to me. >> Roll on your stomach. >> Don't move. >> Don't [ __ ] move. Don't move. >> Why are you moving, dude? >> Yeah, that's the guy. 16 shootings out here. So, hold on just one sec. So, just to be clear, we got one offender in the stolen car, but in custody, >> right? That way. >> No. It's such a big slope right there. Yeah, go >> for cook. >> What? >> No. >> Yeah, >> no. You want to like count? Go ahead, sir. >> There's cars crashed and inoper >> behind the wheel of the Dodge Charger. Jackson reached 126 mph on suburban roads. In less than 15 minutes, he caused four separate crashes across Bington, Bington Hills, and Inveress. Five civilians would be injured, one of them trapped in the vehicle struck head-on by the squad car. Firefighters and paramedics worked urgently to rescue the victims amid heavy smoke and the risk of fire. The scene quickly escalated into multiple simultaneous emergencies. Civilians injured, vehicles destroyed, an officer down, and a suspect still resisting despite being handcuffed. >> All right, we're going to get you an ambulance, but we got to get you up here, man. We called an ambulance already. Okay. >> Okay. Can you get your legs under you so we can get up? >> We're like literally almost there. Look at this. >> I want to rule out west. Okay. >> You're good. I didn't even notice also noticed. [Music] >> Meanwhile, police confirmed the arrest of Lamont Jackson while another member of the crew remained at large. The initial toll was severe. Two suspects in custody, one civilian with serious injuries, and several vehicles, including the stolen squad car reduced to wreckage. And the case was not isolated. Just 13 days earlier, Tvaris Jackson had led another theft in Roselle where six luxury vehicles were stolen. Linking both incidents painted the picture of a repeat offender who was willing to escalate violence at every turn. >> Right. I didn't even notice it. I thought he was still heading down. Uh, >> you need a tow my location and >> Hey, are you okay? Wake up, bro. Dizzy. >> What's your name? 190 motor work. >> Hey, we got a civilian down there that needs help. >> Can you stand up, bud? All right. I got it. I got it. I got it. Okay. 190. I apologize for this delayed information. Uh Hoffman is out with one of the vehicles that rolled at O'angquin and Bington and Bington is out with one of those vehicles. >> Thank you. >> They were aware of the whole situation. So they were aware of all that. >> Thanks guys. Thank you. >> Uh hold on a little sec for a little bit more longer. All right. [Music] >> Hey, are you good? >> Right here, right? >> Uh, yeah, they did. Take it. After his arrest, prosecutors in Cook County handling the Bington case and DuPage County for the Rosel theft stacked up a long list of charges. Aggravated battery to a police officer for ramming the blockade, aggravated possession of a stolen motor vehicle for taking the Dodge Charger, criminal damage to property for the wrecked cars, and additional counts tied to the civilian injuries. In total, Jackson faced at least nine open felony cases across two jurisdictions, all committed while on parole. Faced with overwhelming evidence, the courts consolidated the cases into a global plea agreement, a common practice in Illinois for multiple prosecutions. In September of 23, Tvaris Jackson plead guilty to the main charges and received a unified sentence of four years in state prison, which under day for day credit translates to about two actual years behind bars. He would serve that sentence at the Illinois River Correctional Center with a parole release date of April 18th, 2025 with judicial supervision continuing until April of 2026. [Music]
