2022 a critical incident occurred in Florida where a police officer's quick actions played a vital role in Saving a man's life the situation began when the officer stopped a driver who was heading dangerously toward a herd of school buses hey hey what are you doing hey put that car in park put it in park hey hey hey oh put this in par what appeared to be a routine traffic stop quickly escalated into an urgent emergency the officer noticed that the driver was not responding appropriately as he approached it became apparent that the man was unconscious and suffering from an overdose recognizing the gravity of the situation the officer immediately administered Narcan a potent opioid antagonist to counteract the effects of the [Music] overdose DAV Robert is are you okay hey s 46 r s 46 please start fire I've got an unconscious driver what your 20 Southern Middle School [Music] [Music] hey are you okay r i just administered uh Naran around the officer also moved the driver to the side of the road and began performing life-saving [Music] [Music] [Applause] CPR hey hey wake up you know I've got a black I've got a black bag in there and it's got like uh a little [Laughter] mask sir stay with us sir stay with us during the intense moments that followed the officer administered Naran twice and continued CPR until Emergency Medical Services EMS arrived I already got I already got an Ouran in him you have an A I can run and get the a yeah yeah why don't you do you need help do you need [Music] help can you get my radio right there please stay with us sir right there you hold a button I got you yeah I got go s 46 starting CPR come on office Mr Le here I have the Boys and Girls Club on the hey are you there wake up wake up buddy the timely intervention of the officer and the First Responders was crucial thanks to their efforts the driver's pulse was detected and he was stabilized for transport to the hospital okay come on I gave him two shots of Naran all my good thank you no problem you okay coming back no now they're here once CMS arrived the officer provided details about the incident he explained how he had stopped the driver because he was approaching the school buses at high speed and seemed disoriented the officer had intervened just in time as the driver's condition was rapidly deteriorating the officer's quick thinking and familiarity with his routine duties allowed him to notice the driver's distress and take immediate action I I pulled out like every day I pull out to let the buses go and so he's kind of he's approaching me kind of fast and then he tries to go around me so I pull up a little further I'm like no we're stopping the buses he just had that Blank Stare and I was like have you been drinking or something and he didn't respond really much so I said just pull over here and I started letting buses go he almost hits me then he almost hits my car and then he's going towards the bus is he had the window roll down a little bit I unlocked it put it in in drive and then I gave him one I could tell what was happening CU his eyes are rolling back in his head huh and I yeah I gave one in here while he's sitting and then I gave him one dose I got him out of the car and physically dragged him over there you gave him one and I gave two I gave him two and then they gave him a third oh crap so it must have been something powerful or crazy the driver was taken to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment the officer's decisive actions along with the support of the Emergency Services prevented a potentially catastrophic incident involving the school buses the situation could have ended in disaster if not for the Swift and effective response of the officer and First Responders yeah I don't know if he has ID in there or not I haven't really looked I don't see anything in this back pocket you down on the stret for aot second look like huh you didn't see any needles or anything no no I mean I'm the SRO here so we were we were letting out and I stopped traffic every day and he he almost tried to come around me and I stopped him and I I asked him if he' had anything drink or anything cuz I could tell something was wrong and he started to overdose right here almost hit a hit me the incident highlighted the critical role of quick decision-making and prompt intervention in emergency situations the driver's life was saved thanks to the combined efforts of the officer and emergency medical personnel who acted swiftly to address a life-threatening crisis in February 2023 a meaningful Moment unfolded On A Quiet Road in M County Michigan local police were called to check on a man named Joe who was found sitting in his parked car too stressed to continue driving to work he was just taking a moment to talk to his mom and calm down he goes I just don't want to go to work like right this second he's like I'm just sitting here talking to my mom so just check him doesn't say he's suicidal or anything so that's it just talking to him yeah need yep that's what I'm going to do I'm just putting them in here and go from there thanks buddy the officers who arrived treated Joe with kindness not as someone to be apprehended they listened to him share about his stress and assured him he wasn't alone recognizing his struggle they offered their support and even a comforting hug which helped Joe feel a bit better here you go so what can I do for you today do you do you you say you don't want to hurt yourself right no have you ever attempted suicide or anything like that in the past okay um is there anything I can do to help you give use a hug I'll give you a [Music] hug seems like you got a lot going on man it's all right it's all right man it seems like a lot to take on you know dude we can give you some we can get you some help yeah we can get you somebody to talk to and stuff they talked openly about the importance of mental health and encouraged Joe to keep trying even though previous help hadn't worked out you want us to call your mom for you or something I was just talking to her did you just randomly stop uh somebody called and just said you looked like you were sleeping want us to check on you have you ever have you ever thought about talking to someone professionally I I did the other day I just didn't think it was like it just didn't feel like it helped yeah sometimes it takes more than one like woke up and 4 went to the gym this morning really early I'm trying to lift and stuff and like I feel good when I do that but yeah it just doesn't stop I know that's a lot to take on with your brother and everything and then um yeah I mean I I get it the officers gave him contact information from local Mental Health Services making sure he knew he could reach out for professional support at any time if you want me to get you a number you can talk to somebody you just talk to him on the phone you don't even have to go anywhere let me go let me go back to my car let me get you a number that way you know you have that option okay you can sit down and stay warm man it's my name that's for the mome County Community Health you can call them dude like if you're sitting here you just call them and talk to them on the phone you know they're all professionals and they'll help you out before they left officers Jake and Fred made sure Joe was feeling better and encouraged him to take his time to relax they left him knowing he had people to turn to if he needed help again call call that number dude I'll come out and meet you I'll sit down and talk with you you can V all right that's what I'll do all right brother each day like it's appreciate it hey you ever need anything you just call right means a lot yeah buddy thank you I'm
