In this BCW video, we're taking a look at a $180,000 scam that was perpetrated on a car dealership in Manatee County, Florida. >> We had two gentlemen come in and obviously they were very, very suspicious. >> One of the individuals behind this scheme has been arrested for various fraud related crimes going back 20 years. He's tried to scam children, women, and even other inmates. And now in this video, he's turned his attention on a car dealership. >> They wanted to buy two trucks. $188,000. >> One of that one of those was that truck right there. that lifted truck is $105,000. The white lifted one in the in the in the pad. The other one was a blazer. >> They showed up the next day the the saying that the the wire should have gone through, but it never did. And they brought a check, I think two days after that, and the check ended up being fake. And I I thought that this was over because they knew that the check was fake. >> Mhm. >> Well, they came back in again tonight >> with another check. And this check happens to be from a uh from an auto group down in uh Burksville. >> The aggravating part, and then it's not you guys. Guys, I know you guys are doing a job, but the other news is cuz there's somebody out there that's trying to commit fraud for 200 grand, and I know they're in the air, right? Why can't we just get them back here and get them done? >> Because it takes time to coordinate. But in 3 days, they'd conduct an undercover takedown of the suspects at the dealership. With a deputy posing as a salesman, he lured one of the scammers into an office where another was waiting. >> All right. Sheriff's Office, put back. Sheriff's office, don't move. As the woman processed what had happened, other officers were converging on the two remaining suspects outside. >> You see it right there? >> Yeah, right there. >> Okay. So, you you pin the front? >> Yep. Got it. >> Sheriff's office. Put your hands up. Let's see your hands. Put everything out on the ground. Everything on the ground now. Drop your everything in your hands. Drop everything in your hands. Drop everything in your hand. >> Let me go west side and get two patrol cars. >> Yeah. >> What's up? Can I just get right up there? >> Channel West. >> MSO West. >> I just going to ride. Okay. If that's the case, then you got nothing to worry about. Okay. >> 473 on West. >> She's the one who did the paperwork. Um, can you say anything to hold over? Yep. I'm going to go talk to them real quick. Just confirm that they're the ones who came. >> Okay. >> You have ID on you? >> We can sit him in the back of the back here. Just leave the door open. We'll just sit him over here. >> Exactly. Can you give us >> We're just going to sit him with the door open right here. >> Just put the tailgate down. Put the tailgate down. >> Take a walk outside with me. >> He's law enforcement, so you know. watch. >> How about this for a business ad? >> Yeah. [laughter] What did they do? >> You're doing technical work on your case, aren't you? >> No. >> What the did they do? >> I'll explain to you in just a minute. >> The officers didn't formally interview anyone on scene, but gauged the suspect's interest in talking. >> Were you interested in talking to us at all about this? >> I don't even know about the hell. >> Would you like to discuss that with me at some point in the office? Any thoughts? >> I'm trying. That's all. >> Okay. All right. If you'd like, we can take you upstairs and we can take you to the interview room. I can tell you exactly what's going on and and if you want to talk to me, then that would be perfect. If not, that's that's your right to >> All I heard was Jackie. Can you give us a ride? >> Where? To Carlo. >> Okay. We him and I didn't talk for a few years now because he's me multiple times and people I know and and [ __ ] over and over and uh um she knew him through mutual I just got out of uh drug court. >> That's my landlord's car. That's not even my car. >> It's your neighbor's car. >> My landlord >> landlord's >> Yeah. >> What's your name, man? >> Give me your real name, Thomas. I'm going to find out who you are. So, don't lie to me. >> I know who you are. I've known who you are for a long time. Give me a real name. >> You going to do this the hard way? You're going to do it the easy way because I'm going to go somebody over here, take your fingerprints, and I'm going to find out exactly who you are. So, what's your name? >> I'm sorry. Thomas what? >> And so, with today, he was just saying now cuz uh we have a friend that says the house behind where they're staying was his aunts. and uh they they said he had equipment there. So, we went over there, got it all. We played our role because she's been contacting I don't the CC or whoever and uh the IRS and she got her opinion and everything and she's been contacting them saying this is all going on. >> How do you how do you know the >> Wait, >> I've been calling you for a long time. I work at the fraud divisions. And when I first got drugged into this was in I think 2016 or 17. Uh US Marshall actually came in and got him cuz he got like everybody in the storm all the socials and stuff. You >> heard about Francine, right? >> Mhm. >> I think I see her on the bus. What happened though? >> She's about to catch a Rico. You guys go way back, right? >> You taught her how to get in the game. >> I gave her license. She already knew what she did. >> I started uncovering I started uncovering uh uh paperworks of he has like nine different accounts that he's trying to forcefully put himself as like a developer under and uh uh murder him and put himself as a developer under. So he was saying all this [ __ ] was uh uh legal because he had the I I guess you call it I and everything. And we were trying to argue the whole time this shit's all legal and why is it hitting her credit? Why is it going like this? And like I said, we ended up tracking down like 15 people. Okay. Like I said, we have we'll have someone talk to you. Okay. Okay. I moved I moved scissors away from the guy. >> Thank you. >> Yeah, >> thank you. That was very nice. >> Yeah. And I just wanted to put his desk back together and then grab my bag. >> I'm still rolling, by the way. >> Okay, I'm not talking. >> Yeah, I'm not talking. And that's all I got to say. We're going to come to this town. >> I'll take him. >> Can you put my Can you put my mask up? >> I think I have >> I think I just had allergic reaction. >> When she gets gloves on, we'll have we do it. I don't want to touch without gloves. >> Yeah. Yeah. No, because the other night we thought someone poisoned me and I even actually went to the hospital and had a report file the hospital. >> Cuffs. Cuffs for sale. Anybody? >> You're going to want to clean. >> That was uh Thomas. >> He has everything. >> Uh we have a feeling that he strugg with GHB. >> Who's he? >> Uh Thomas. >> So why are you still hanging out with other guys? because he has all her information and he has like 15 people that are >> I was telling >> Oh yeah, we'll talk about when we get there. Anyway, >> we literally this last month we it was me and her against like 20 different people >> and trying to get she's filed with she filed with the uh IRS and I think the CCE >> about all the stuff that's been being done with her identity >> and nobody would help us and we I just got done with a program and she uh just got put back after graduation. Nobody would help us. >> What's his name? MG. >> Ron. Yeah. >> Yeah. Michael. >> The woman would plead no contest to conspiracy to commit grand theft and receive 2 years of probation. Michael pled no contest to his charges and got sentenced to 5 years in prison, followed by 2 years of probation. He was credited for [music] the 317 days that he'd been incarcerated for prior to the sentencing. >> Thomas played no contest to his charges and got six years in prison. He was [music] also credited for the time he'd been incarcerated for prior to his sentencing. >> Okay. Do you want me to start going through because I know >> Yes. Wow. >> I recognize that name. Li he had tried to give him his cousin's name but that Minneapolis last time because he gave his cousin then have a warrant in Sarasota when he got picked up fingerprinted. They got falsely owned and burglary charges. That was his VOP warrant he just got picked up for. >> So if you'll give me his bag of [ __ ] I'll go through his suit at the desk and just like and start accumulating charges. He's the one who had all the the checks in the bag, right? >> Yeah, >> that's his deal. >> And those checks a lot like Frances. >> Yes, cuz that I told you he's the one that taught Frank how to do it. >> And brought brought checks twice after the wire pill. So, it made me sound better. >> Okay. >> You have a rapport with him or just maybe >> You guys know who I am. I know who he is. >> Okay. >> Kind of like Francie. >> Yes. I just lurk in the shadows.
