Reports indicate officers searched his cut off pants at the scene and obtained crystal meth. It is unclear whether the other suspect Jonathan Irwin was taken into custody. Jonathan's record shows criminal information was filed, but he was not charged that day. Dispatch notes suggest he may have been held under the Involuntary Treatment Act, which allows officers to detain someone believed to have a mental illness that could lead to harm to themselves or others. Under this law, a person can be held up to 24 hours in jail before transport to a mental health facility for up to 1 week, after which a court hearing may extend the hold for 30 more days if treatment is deemed beneficial. In addition to the charges from his previous case, Dominic now faces one felony count of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of negligent use of a deadly weapon, and two counts of resisting arrest. Reports indicate an investigation into the officer involved shooting was conducted by Otto County District Attorney Scott D. Key, who told news sources it was a good shoot and that the movements of the defendant would put a reasonable police officer in fear. Roughly 4 months later, Dominic was released by the courts via a $0 recgnissance bond. Within several weeks, officers attempted to pull over a vehicle driving late at night with no headlights on, unaware that Dominic was behind the wheeling westbound towards wet sands.
