An officer with the Oklahoma City Police Department pulled over a vehicle for speeding in the early morning hours. Inside the car were three individuals, a teenage male driver, a teenage girl, and a 21-year-old woman. When the officer approached the vehicle, he informed the driver that he had been stopped for speeding and his tag light being out. But what began as a straightforward stop took a sharp turn the moment the officer, suspecting the driver being intoxicated, he asked the teen to step out of the car, and that's when everything spiraled out of control. Upon making contact, officers quickly determined he was clearly under the influence of alcohol. Not only was he under the legal drinking age of 21, but he was also endangering himself, his two passengers, and the public. He was arrested and charged with underage DUI, cited for aggravated speeding, 26 to 34 mph over the limit, disobeying a traffic signal, illegal transportation of alcohol, and possession of alcohol by a minor. His blood alcohol content was 0.08%, right at the legal limit for adults, but still illegal for someone under 21. The unidentified 18-year-old female passenger was described as emotionally unstable and belligerent throughout the encounter. Officers exercised remarkable restraint giving her multiple opportunities to calm down, but she continued to escalate the situation. She was arrested and charged with obstructing police, two counts of resisting arrest, two counts of aggravated battery of a police officer, and one count of aggravated assault for kicking and striking officers at the detention center. She also faces a UWW unlawful use of a weapon charge after officers discovered a Kubotan keychain weapon in her possession along with pepper spray in her purse. A Kubotan is a small hard plastic rod that's meant to be held in the fist for striking. The 21-year-old female passenger was charged with two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a serious offense given the underage drinking and dangerous behavior involved.
