I'm going 97. How old are you guys? I'm 18. 17. I'm 17. Any anyone else inside the building? No. Go ahead and start detaining them. Huh? Go ahead and start detaining up against the wall. All four of you. Turn around. Face the wall. Put your hands behind your back. [Applause] six. Got two males and two females. [Applause] Was it open when it came on here? Cuz when I drove around it looked open. Yeah, I know. So, they must have just closed it cuz when I was out here earlier, um I still have a picture of it. Um I was going to do a an O on it, but Casey was out here earlier. It was cracked open. So, from the bottom, so it was locked up top, but it looked like someone was trying to yank it open. Well, once I closed, but it was once I once I saw the 13 Victor. What's that? If I do this, go ahead. Yeah. Um, once I saw the it was unoccupied, I drove around and it looked like it was a jar. I started walking this way and as I got to this back building, I heard voices and then they popped out. They popped out. They were walking out this way. Um, see, when I was here earlier, it looked like it was trying to be forced open, but it was sealed and I couldn't open it. That's what it was like that. So, it was cracked open. it like because I let it go, it kind of got got back to but the bottom part I thought it was open. Yeah. And then popped up. So when I drove around out there was not um it looked like it was like fully fully open. I I didn't ask. I just read it. I haven't asked if they come over here. You were at all four. What V? You read to all four? I read to all four. All right. All right. So, Officer Van Ra here, he read you your Miranda rights, right? Yes, sir. All right. So, now knowing your rights, you fully understand them? Yes. Are you willing to talk to me? Yes. All right. What are you guys doing back here? We were just just came in. Just chilled. We didn't do anything. What do you mean you chilled? We just walked around and that's it. Walked around where? Inside. Inside? How'd you get inside? For the open door. Where? right over there. The back one. The one right here behind us. The one closest to us in there. All right. So, I was out here earlier and that door was seal. It was locked. The bottom portion was slightly open, but it was locked. How did you open it? Or did you go in a different way? It was unlocked. And then when we walked in, it was unlocked. How long have you been here? Uh, about an hour, 30 minutes around that. I've been inside. Oh, about an hour or so. Whose car is that? Uh, the girl in the Let's go over here. I don't care if you are or not. I'm just You guys like drinking or smoking? No, I don't care if you want. No, I'm telling you right now, I'm not going to charge you with it. No, let's go down here. Going to go down the end just so we're out of the rain. You You live around here? I live in Alamont. How long you guys come here or how often? Uh, not that often. Are any of you four responsible for the graffiti that's going on? What are any four of you responsible for the graffiti that's going on at this building? No graffiti. All right. And you see the several no trespassing signs posted. I I personally did not know this. You know you're not This building does not belong to you. You know you're not supposed to be in there, right? Yes, sir. So, why are you going in there? That doesn't make sense to me. You came here just to walk around. Doesn't make any sense. Why are you coming to a closed building after hours that you know you're not supposed to be at and you're just walking around? Well, I came with them and we just walk around and do anything. This is my first time being What else were you guys doing here? Just walking around. We just walked around the whole thing and just left. So you say you're here 45 minutes to an hour? About about that. Doesn't take that long to walk this building. So what else are you guys doing? We were just walking around exploring through like all of the rooms. I was looking for one by name. So if I go in there, not going to find anything damaged. You shouldn't. I shouldn't. Not that I know. We didn't break anything. The only thing that was touched was the pool table. The balls. You know, you all four of you, you're committing 95. It occurred on a truck versus a semi truck. 36 her parents. Uh, I think her parents. Is that your car or your parents car? They know where you're at. [Applause] Spell your first name. M A K S Y M. I'm sorry. M A K. S Y N. S Y M. Middle initial. L U L. I mean, I don't have a middle initial. Just You don't have a middle name. Last name. How come we can't find you in our system? I've had the same problem with the cops who pulled me over. They said the same thing. But I do have a driver's license. You're not giving me a fake name, are you? No. Absolutely honest with you, sir. Your first name is not legally spelled a different way. Same as a driver's license. Then we should be able to find you in our system. Have you been arrested before? Where have you been arrested before? before uh check fraud. Was it check fraud? Check fraud here in seminal county. How long ago? About uh beginning of September, end of August recently. this apartment. I don't know who owns it. I think back when I was next to selling it to somebody else responsible for what's going to happen. Y was I had a graffiti out here a couple weeks ago and same thing. They said they have a maintenance guy who still covers the ground and all that. Yeah, that's it. But all this has to be maintained by all units 103. So reach out to whoever let them know about this and then see what they want to do. each other. Try one of the responders. Something you'd want to um press charges for. I absolutely would, but it's not my call. That's my headm's call. Uh, that'd be Preston. Yes, sir. Um, is there any way you could try and contact him to give me a call on this number? Oh, there's nothing more I'd like to do than wake his ass up this time of morning. If not, if not, I can try it. But I don't know if he he would recognize your number first and answer. Oh, if he recognizes my number, he probably wouldn't answer either, but um I'll I'll try giving him uh a call and I will let you know. Yeah, definitely give me a call back on this number. Do you do you have his number? I do. Yes. Okay. Um Okay. Uh from you need me to head down there? Um do you you say you don't have the authorization to I he has the final say on everything so I could be overruled. Okay. Are you are you close by or? Um I'm not too far. I'm over on Sanford. So uh if it's not too much of a hassle. Um, and I'll try and get a hold of Preston if you want to try as well. And then if you're able to just give him this cell phone number to call me. Yes, sir. All right. Thank you, sir. All right. Thanks. Bye. Um, so I was doing a patrol of the business. Um, there's been a lot of vandalism out here, broken glass, graffiti. Um, and someone tried to attempt to break into the back door. Um, and there were there were four people that were actually successful tonight. um and they made they gained access into it and we're in contact with them now. Um we're just trying to get a hold of someone who has authority to say they want to press charges or not. Uh because I I am not in the region. Can I give the phone number of the uh of our uh uh uh head of school? So uh he is in the region. You can come to uh uh take a look. What's his name? Uh Preston. Uh yeah. Yeah, I have his number. He's not answering. Oh, maybe it's too late. So, um what do you need from me? Um are you someone that has authority that can give law enforcement permission to press charges or not? Uh give you the permission to press charge people? Yes. Yeah. So, there's four people who committed a crime. They they okay they burglarized your building. They they gained access. Uh they were in they were in walking around. Um Okay. Uh they for they forced themselves inside. Oh. Uh yes. Uh yes. I I'm authorized to uh to to to to give you the permission to uh to uh to try on. And um you're you're a I'm sorry. What what's your title with this place again? So I'm the CEO of York United, the parent company of the Y United. So um yeah, we all schools like Mary's one of our schools. Okay. Um if if I were to email you a statement form, could you do you mind filling it out just giving us permission or saying you want to press charges and then email it back to me? Yes. All right. Oh, I believe so. But let me call you. Um, is this your cell phone? Yes, that's my cell phone. Can you text your email to this phone number and then I'll I'll email it over to you? Uh, text to you. Okay, no problem. To to this phone number. I'll just text you. Yep. Sir, uh, what's uh, it's officer Nolan. N O L A N D. Okay. Okay. Okay. Officer, I really appreciate that. All right. Okay. Thank you, sir. I'll text you. All right. So, I'm also known McMD. Um, who who are you the parent of? The one driving the car. The one driving the car. Okay. All right. So, you spoke to her? Yeah, I spoke to her. To her. Okay. All right. So, essentially, we've had a lot of issues out here. All right. As you can see right here in front of us, vandalism, graffiti, broken glass. Um, we have spoken to three of these people. One of them is being uncooperative, not your daughter. Um they've all admitted to forcing themselves inside um messing around in there. Um so right now we have trespassing and and burglary. Okay. Um we're in contact with the owners of the property to see if they want to press charges or not. Um once we do once we hear back from them, I'm going to re relay that to my supervisors who's here and then make a decision on if they're going to go to jail or not. Okay. Um do you mind just gathering his information real quick? I'm gonna get with SGE. All right. So, he's on his way to the headmaster. Um, he's want to press charges cuz he's assuming they're the same ones that keep keep breaking in. I pressed in the headmaster. This is why I didn't want to call because now I don't know who did that. Where's he taking? He's going to talk to him. I'm saying gentlemen, I'm sorry to bring you out here tonight. This is unacceptable. He has any questions for you? You have any questions for him? No answer. He's refusing to talk to us. What's that? He's refusing to talk to us. I told him he can talk to you guys. He needs to stand up for what he's done. We'll deal with that. Right. How old is he? 17. 17. All right. So, we're So, essentially, we're I'll come over here and talk to you. So, essentially, we have the owner of the property um coming out here. Um, as you can see, we're having a lot of issues with graffiti, broken windows. Um, people are going up on they're sneaking up on the roof to break in. Um, this I I was here earlier tonight. Um, and the back door was slightly a jar, but it was locked. You couldn't get in. Um, and then once I saw the car parked out, um, they left their lights on, which drew my attention. Um, came back here and drove by and saw the door open, too. and they admitted to all four of them forcibly opening the door to gain access. Um, so we have burglary trespassing right now. Um, I said we have the owner of the property out here right now. Um, seeing what he wants to do. Like I said, he's made a mistake. He was in our house when I went to bed tonight. Um, and uh, assuming everything was fine. This is a pretty disturbing phone call to obviously get. My apologies to you all. Uh, like to think I raised him better than this. I'm pretty disappointed. So, Uh, we'll be here waiting. Anything I can do, you let me know. All right. I'll just have to get contact information from you. Okay. Here shortly. Okay. What's your first name? William. Now that dad's here and you talk to him, does that change your tune a little bit? You want to answer some of our questions or you still don't want to talk to us? So, what's going on tonight? We just came out here just to explore building. You've been out here before? First time. First time. How did you guys get inside? I honestly don't. It was not unlocked cuz I was out here earlier. I'm not sure cuz as you can see, this place has been graffitied. This was not I'm not saying it is. I'm not accusing you of that. But I'm out here a lot, especially other officers because there's a lot of vandalism going on out here. So, I was out here a couple hours ago, not even. And that door is locked. The bottom was slightly a jar cuz it looked like someone else has tried to break in before. Then when I saw your guys' car out front, that drew my attention. Says, "Whoever was driving turned the car off, but you left the lights on." So, that drew my attention to you guys. And when I drove around here, I see the door open. [Applause] So, don't tell me it was unlocked cuz it wasn't. I know for a fact that door was locked. Sorry. Cuz I came out here and personally checked it. So, did you guys as a group forcefully yank it open to get inside? I did. No. The reason we're being told something different? I said I did not answer. You weren't a part of it? I'm sorry, sir. What were you guys doing inside? We were exploring. What does that mean? We've been walking around exploring. How long you guys been here? Been here for about an hour. Just walking around exploring for an hour. Smoking, drinking. I don't care if you were. Like I was telling the friends, I don't care if you were not here for that. That's the least of my worries. Once the property owner gets here and we walk, there's not going to be additional damage inside. Nothing. Did you see anyone else? Yes, sir. Okay. So, just confirming none of you guys are claiming the graffiti that's on the wall, correct? You don't have blue or black any type of spray paint in your car? Okay. I don't even know. You either. What was the question? Not claiming any of the spray paint, the graffiti or nothing like that. Okay. Anything illegal inside that car out there. Anything illegal cuz your dad is searching it right now. That's what he wants to go do. So, whatever he finds, he's turning it over to us. So, if there's anything illegal inside the car, I will let us know now before he starts bringing us a whole bunch of stuff. Car wallet. Anything inside the car we should be worried about? Is that a Yes. What's inside the car? What's inside the car? What's inside the car? Cool. Big whoop. All right. Is that it? Just alcohol. don't care about that. There's there's no narcotics, cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, guns, guns. I don't care about weed or alcohol. No hardcore stuff. No needles, smoking devices, nothing. Just alcohol. Were you guys drinking tonight? Your your eyes are red, so I don't believe you. I actually either smoking or drinking. No, I don't. He wasn't he wasn't at all earlier. How much you having a drink tonight? Uh I don't remember. Is it wine, liquor, Malibu? Malibu. Malibu. When was that? Before you guys went in. 30 minutes before we got here. So, you drank some and then drove. I didn't see you do it, so I can't charge you with it. Saying you need to make better decisions. I'm Preston. Preston. Officer Nolan. Nice to meet you. All right. So, gist of it. None of them are claiming the graffiti. Um, I walked the property. Um, and everything was secure. So, as you can see, the bottoms, right? Um, he's he's the one that always does the maintenance over here. Yep. Um, they pulled the plate off last time they tried to break in. So, um, once I found out the officers were out here earlier, um, I broke. Um, continued about my day. Um, was driving through, noticed the car out here with the lights on, so that caught my attention. Um, so checked out with it, saw it was unoccupied. Um, once I got another officer over here, drove around back, saw the door was open. Okay. Um, so went to block the vehicle in. As I was walking back over here, that's when I hear them and they come around the corner and then we detain them. Um, one of them was being uncooperative until his dad got here. Um, then he started talking. Um, so we have at least two of them admitting all four four of them forced the door open to gain access. They said they were just here exploring an abandoned building. Um, one of them admitted to writing on the wall with chalk. Um, I don't think we haven't been inside. I don't really think it caused damage like that. Right. Um, we I think I sent you guys he had a lot of we had trail cameras out here with a lot of footage of people coming in and out. I'm just curious if and I sent it to you guys. So, I wonder if these are any of the same kids that were breaking in for the last year or two. Um Um again, people lie. Yeah. Couple of them saying it's their first time out here. Um some are saying they've been out here before. Yeah. Um so, like I said, we have one adult, an 18-year-old, and then three juveniles. Um two of the juvenile parents are here. Okay. Um so, it's kind of where you step in. Um Um I noticed you guys provided a trespass letter. Yeah. I did it about a month ago. Yep. with with Detective Alberts. Yep. Um so, um it's in the ball's in your your your part uh in your court right now. Um if you're want to press charges for the burglary on all four. Yeah. Um I can't tell you what to do, right? Um you cannot press charges, trespass all four. This is this has caused them and you guys too many I I'm done with it. That's why we did the whole trespassing. I don't have necessarily a final authority other than I'm the head of school at our academic campus, but I called the owners. They haven't called me back obviously at this point, but they don't live here either. They're from They're from outside the country. Uh, but I'm showing this property at 8:00 this morning to try to sell it. And they've been trying to sell for three years and so finally they can. So, um, if it's up to me, yes, because I'm I'm tired of having to deal with this. These guys have spent countless hours and y'all have too. Um, and I would I would think this is probably the same group of kids that keep coming in. And if there were two that were here before and two that just luckily got cut, you know, caught this morning at 3:00 a.m., then is the guy who's the new owner? Is it Guyenne? Same. Yeah, that's Yeah, they're he's the person in char he's a broker that's in charge of selling all this property. Uh but now they have authority from the court to proceed. Um the buyer they had that they had for about a year and a half finally said no. Uh tired of waiting. So the person's coming this morning said that he's interested. So I was coming over here at 8 to show him the property. Gotcha. So, so do you still have the authority to give grant permission to like press charges as far as the burglary and all that? As far as what I I sent in the affidavit back to you guys, yes, but I'd like to verify with wanting to assume that they do because there's been a lot of property stolen out of here. A lot of equipment stolen out of here. Um, don't know if it's them, but that's why we did the whole trespass. Just want to confirm with all four, the adult and three juveniles. There's an adult and three juveniles here. Do we want to prosecute all four or just the adults or does it matter to you? What does the officer recommend? He can't recommend, but I mean from our standpoint, it's been numerous times over here and it's been it's caused a lot of damage over here and it may not been them every time, but this has been going on for quite some time and that's only because the whole trespassing piece. Okay. Okay. So, you all I I think that's unless you Yeah. I I want to I want this to be over. I want to send a message if these are the guys doing it if they don't do it again. Okay. All right. Thank you. Yeah. I I mean this is all right. Um so are you still there? Okay. Um so I'll get you a statement form. Um just essentially filling out you're still part partial correct or your your guys' the the prep prep school. It's uh it's no it's it's a company that's based in New York that owns this property. I we've just been stuck with dealing with it for two year or three years. Gotcha. But so I'm in charge here. Um but if I need them to sign off on that because they are the legal owners. I'm not the legal owner. We just have to deal with everything over here. Gotcha. So whatever makes it easier for you guys so we don't have an issue with this. Um but obviously this is what we're trying to prevent. So you guys Hey man, sorry about this. Sorry about No, it's I'm tired of you guys having to come over here. But this is it's it's just non-stop. So I want to I want to nip in the bud. So, we're we're going to move forward. We just got on the phone with the owners. Uh, and they do want to prosecute. So, I'll be Were you guys the owner? We're No, we've never been the owners. It's a York company out of New York that owns this property. Who I was on the phone with, which is why I haven't found and he oversees. He oversees the property. We oversee the properties only because it's a Lake Mary entity and it's part of the bigger they've got like six schools spread all over the US. Um, but we have been we've been taking care of the maintenance portion of it until recently where they had a a change in receiverhip. So, this guy's now the broker uh in charge. I'm actually showing this at 8:00 today this morning. So, So, you're still representative for them? For them in reference to this. Yeah. So, I got to send him. Okay. Yeah. I'm the person in charge of just the dayto-day. I know it goes back and forth cuz I know the last time when we had code enforcement out here because we overgrowth and everything like that. enforcement two weeks ago. We just got it done again. So, yeah, we get stuck with all of it, but they're the ones that have to now pay for it and maintain it, but we're the ones that support to support you guys and Lake Mary so we don't become a nuisance, but it already is a nuisance for y'all, us, and anybody. Oh, I mean, the graffiti and all this stuff just kids know that it's it's a bad So, they all talk. It's not like they're just around here. So, yeah. Um All right. So, get them going on the statement. We can do that. That way we can get them out of here. And if I need to get them to sign something, I can. Who? The owners. Well, that can go in the back end. Right now, since you're the representative, you guys do a statement right now saying, you know, that nobody had permission to come inside this building. You didn't authorize anybody to come to this building and you guys want to proceed with While he's doing a statement, do you mind walking the interior? Just make sure there's no damage. Like, do you have access inside? Yeah. Okay. Um, I'll have an officer go with you. Um, they're saying they're the only four, but um, just to confirm there's no new damage. They are pressing charges, so they're going to Great. Do you guys want to speak to your kids before we start moving them around? I mean, I can bring your kid out here cuz we can have in our car and same with your kid. Um, so you guys can talk separate. I want him to sweat it out. Sweat it out. Okay. Um, like I said, they're probably going to call you within the next 30 minutes to an hour to come pick them up. Okay. Okay. Um, that's up to you. I want them to sweat it out. I want to talk. Um, just let the let the administrators know that uh we apologize for and this convenience for them being out here. So, it it it could very well be bad timing. Um, they claim it's only their first time out here. Um, but they've had ongoing issues here. um they're they're just fed up with it. Um so if it is their first time, then it was a dumb decision. Um absolutely. This is incredibly dumb. All right. So like I said, like he explained, the juvenile process is a little simpler than adult. Um they get out, they'll release them to your custody fairly quickly. Okay. Um so just be on the lookout for that phone call. Do you know where the juvenile center is up? I mean, all right, Maxwell, go and stand up. So right now you're being placed under arrest for burglary, right? board and stuff like there really impresses making me proud. [Applause] All right, so go ahead and stand up. So, right now you're being placed under arrest for burglary and trespass. Going to a holding cell. Okay. He's going to go in a car because we're waiting for his car is all the way over there. And bring the other young lady with you over here. So you're going to send your charges right now? You want to send your charges right now? Yes, sir. You're being charged with burglary and trespass. This is private property. But I'm just curious why burglary? Cuz you guys went inside a building after hours that you should not be in. That's considered burglary. Yes. I understand the purpose. You're entering a a structure that you have no right to be in. I really have messed up. It was a dumb decision. Okay. And unfortunately, like I said, you say this is your first time here. I don't know that. As you can see, the several graffiti markings, people have shattered glasses, gone on the roof, and forced ourselves inside as well. I'm not saying it's you, but the property owners are fed up. Yes, sir. I understand. I get it. So, if this is your first time, wrong place, wrong time, dumb mistake, and you're paying the consequence for it. You know, you knew you knew you weren't supposed to be inside. All right, go have a seat. Um, so I know a lot of people talk to you. Um just I know I single for like spoke to her. Um she admitted to consuming alcohol as well. I don't know if you're aware of that. Uh I presume because I found empty Malibu rum thing in the back of the car. So So she she admitted to consuming it um before coming here. Um didn't see her do it. Didn't see her behind the wheel or anything like that. She can't be charged with a DUI. Um but it's probably something else you want to hammer home with her. Um the I don't know where she got malover rum from. So, somebody else brought it because we don't have that at our house. Have beer in the fridge, but like there's no beer cans in there. There's no there's the importance of driving under the influence of alcohol, especially at a younger age cuz the laws are a little stricter with juveniles. Um, just another thing to hammer home with her. All right. The uh I guess the wallet and whatever else was supposed to be in the driver's side door or something. So, I don't know if maybe the 18-year-old drove I don't know. She had to drive in the car. Yep. Here. Well, again, I I'm presuming Was that wallet and stuff still in there? I I didn't see it. So, um they're going to help me drive the car home. Okay. Since there's two of them and my mom's at the house with the six-year-old. Okay. All right. Do you have any questions for me, sir? No, I don't understand. Like I said, I I hope this eye opener for them. Um so, I'm taking just kind of fill you in what's going on. I'm taking the the adult down to um the big boy jail. Yep. um to do uh my report there. It's all essentially one report. Um so I'm going to finish his. Okay. I have to print it out and then take it across the street to the juvenile assessment center where the three juveniles will be. Okay. Um once that's done and signed off on, um then you can start the process of picking them up. They don't they don't have a bond or anything like that. Like I said, it's not as severe. Um not downplaying it, but it's not like he's going to have a bond and all that. So, it's going to take a little longer for him to get out. Whereas the juveniles, um, it shouldn't be too much. Maybe like an hour or two. Maybe maybe a little longer. No, I appreciate you getting out here. That's fine.
