any of this. [Music] >> Hello, I'm uh Tom. Um I'm on response team in Walam Forest. I've been on response uh for 7 and a half years now. Um after my training, we were put onto Walam Forest response team. So I haven't actually moved since then. Um and yeah, I really enjoy it. Um, I like response because you do basically everything. You cover so many different type of calls. So, you get a really good variety and um, yeah, it makes the day very interesting. >> Um, I'm PC Smith. I'm uh, on a team North in Men Forest. Been in a job for 4 years. Um, I started on Mist and then I went to Safer Neighborhoods in Leighton um, for about six months and then I came to 18. I've been here for about 2 years now, 2 and a half years. Really enjoy the job. Um variety of calls sort of bread and butter is uh a lot of domestic crime that might be non-rime domestics or um or crime domestic essentially. So we go to a lot of them. Um and we're getting a lot of um robberies, phone snatchers um at the moment. Um we also cover a lot of missing people as well. It's pretty much we're probably going one highrisisk misper shift, don't we? Yeah, pretty much. >> We also probably don't realize how much time we spend off the road like that might be in hospitals. Um, you know, if we've sectioned someone, we could be in the hospital all day. Um, so people will see, you know, there might be a load of us out on duty, but then there's 12 abstractions, for example. There's three people on a crime scene, there's two people in a hospital guard. Suddenly, what looks like a big parade room is really diminished all of a sudden. So, um, yeah, I think they don't, yeah, perhaps don't know quite all the different things we actually have to cover. [Music] >> Yeah. >> Uh, so we're going to a female um, aggressive guest at a hotel and she stated to the staff that she will kill the staff. Uh, she's been banned from the hotel, but uh, she's refusing to leave. Um, she's still currently there at the moment. She hasn't left yet. got a description. So, we'll get there and see if we can see anyone and talk to the informant. >> Um, and then when you're there, you'll judge judge how um it it might read differently from what it says on the CAD to what it really is in reality. So, you sort of have to keep an open mind. [Music] Hello. Hello. Excuse me. >> What's good? >> Who? >> What's going on? >> Right. All sorted. Uh yeah, that was a uh call with a female um who's got mental health issues and she's been put up by a social worker in a hotel for several weeks. She's been evicted, but she was kicking off. She didn't want to leave. Um social workers basically arranged for her to go to another hotel which we've um assisted with. Um so we'll put on a report goes to safeguarding um go to social worker and um they're much happier now that they've um that she's left. So um I think all parties are happy. >> We try and do as many visible patrols as we can in and around call taking because obviously we're response team. We have to pick up the calls that come out through the 999 system. But in those between those times we do try and be as proactive as possible. Um, and also if we go to a call and there's antisocial behavior, we'll go to that call, they might have gone, we'll put an intel report on that will get flagged to the neighborhood team or we drop them an email say to the the ward officers, look, uh, the residents are um, concerned because this that many people are smoking drugs or loitering. and then they will try and put some more of their patrols out and just try and get on top of it. This call is um from a member of public saying there's a group of potential drunk males, drug users that are trying to get into a property. They don't know if they're trespassing at the moment or if um the property belongs to them. We do get quite a few antisocial calls. Yeah. Um you know, drunk drug left. Yeah. drunk uh drunk males uh you know or drunk females like they're loiting around like you know businesses and things and unfortunately what you do normally they're they're fine they'll move on and then they just become an issue for someone else somewhere else. So it's it's a you never particularly solve it >> apparently one upstairs trying to kick the door in and one trying to uh kick the door for the main entrance for the flats the commun area. So, we'll go and see what we end up with. [Music] >> Did you call? >> Ah, >> that's right. [Music] And what it is up to >> So the resolution for that one is the it's a house with a closure order which means they've obviously had loads of antisocial behavior. Um there's a court order basically saying no residents are meant to be there. we've got there and obviously all these guests, let's call them, have uh gone. So, you know, we can't prove that offense because they're not there. Um the male is quite vulnerable, so he's at risk of cuckooing essentially uh where people use their flat for drug taking and general antisocial behavior. Um he was obviously quite head up. Um didn't particularly want to speak to us that much. He just wanted us to assist him going back to his flat. Um we did check his flat. there was no one else in there. Um so we'll put on a report. It's um essentially a report that goes to um the local safer neighborhood team um just to raise their awareness that the flat is still being used. Um and it is also trying to give that reassurance to the residents because it's an ongoing issue. Um, I've just said to them, just keep calling us and we'll just have to keep going back because unfortunately with these things, they don't generally get solved um on the first go. So, yeah, report he he's fine. He didn't um want to report any offenses to us. So, um yeah, be a um quick um report to the neighborhoods. >> It's an Sgrade. It's a bit out of time. Happened about an hour ago. Um I think it's a dispute between uh daughter and mother. I think the daughter wants mom out of the house. >> Um it doesn't sound like there's any offenses with this one. Um it's not a emergency call. It's just down as an Sgrade. So we're going at um regular speed. Uh unless of course they call back and say it's it's >> kicking off again, then we'd go on an Igrade. But at the moment um >> go the normal speed. >> Says mom's heavily intoxicated. won't leave the address. Children at the address and informant basically just want mom to leave. >> Yeah, >> we're there to prevent a breach of the peace really. So, we were there prevent it kicking off. Obviously, this call is over an hour old. So, um they haven't called back. So, it may have deescalated already. We'll go. We'll still log it as a domestic incident. And um and if she is there, we'll and she doesn't live there, we'll um recommend she leaves the address. >> I think so. >> I don't know. >> Ordinarily, we wouldn't um we wouldn't pull away from a call we've just ted at. Um we have to judge the risk ourselves on that. But because they were wanting more units, >> we haven't got a huge amount today. We will we've taken that judgment ourselves. We we we're going to this. They don't need us. We'll then go back to that pool. >> I think what's happened? It's a It's a Well, it's a police collision. So, um one of the units was going to a call an urgent call at the police station where I think a suspect might have been kicking off. Um and then what's happened? I think a car's pulled out and he's hit the vehicle and um I think the driver of the other car has some injuries. when anything like that happens, it's um you have to close off the road, a traffic sergeant has to come down and um yeah, so it's a bit of a protocol with it. Late turns are always very busy. I think it is our busiest shift. Um you try and squeeze food in. So we've obviously had a bit of food. That's that can be rare. Sometimes you just don't really have time. Um, but there there it's it's been pretty relentless. And >> one call can come out for one thing and then once you've dealt with that, another call can come out. It could be the total opposite and you've got to kind of change your say ways. So you could go with like you can have a foot chase where your adrenaline's pumping like through the roof and then you can go to like sudden death where it's like the family's worst moment >> and you have to kind of change your >> This is already >> the way you are. Do you understand what I mean? And especially with like Ben said with with death, uh you go and do a death message, you're about to tell someone one of the worst things that they've ever heard. Um and you've got to be sensitive and you've got to be methodical. You've got to give the facts, but you've also got to give them the time and um not just be a police officer and be another person telling them that telling that information.
