Police move in with guns drawn after a disturbing 911 call reports a possible homicide inside a quiet neighborhood home. But what they find behind this door will haunt even the most seasoned officers. In the garage, a gruesome scene straight out of a horror movie. The body of 21-year-old Grace Jennings lies brutally slain, nearly decapitated by a sword. The Killer, a 19-year-old woman obsessed with secret societies, dark fantasies, and her own twisted sense of loyalty. Driven by her boyfriend's chilling words, "You'll move up in rank once she's dead. What happened inside that garage and what police uncover next will leave you speechless." October 29th, 2022 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, near the 5000 block of Jaguar Drive at approximately 1:50 p.m., police respond to a chilling 911 call about a murder that allegedly happened earlier that morning. As officers move in and force open the back door, they find a confused elderly woman and her daughter inside, unaware of the horror, waiting just steps away. Behind the home, in a detached garage where 19-year-old Kiara McCully and her fianceé Isaac Apadaka stay, officers make a gruesome discovery. The nearly decapitated body of 21-year-old Grace Jennings, killed with a sword. While Kiara is taken into custody, Isaac hides out at a nearby Metro PCS store after calling 911 to report the murder he claims to have just witnessed. But when police uncover his phone and read his messages, everything changes. What's revealed in the body cam footage, the interrogations, and the suspect's chilling texts will leave you stunned and questioning just how deep this twisted plot really goes. >> Over here. Hey, stay off the radio right now. Yeah, we got one down. Santa, what? >> Go back inside. Go back inside. I'm not going to tell you again. Go back inside. >> Detain him. Watch. >> I can't I can't clear enough. >> You guys want to go in? >> Huh? >> You guys want to go in or I can't. >> There's too much trash. It's a tin. Police uncover a horrifying scene. The body of Grace Jennings partially covered with blankets and clothing showing signs of near decapitation. >> It looks clear. There's >> Where is he? >> He's right here by the door. >> He's There's way too much trash. Unless we can open that back door. That garage. Can we open the garage from that? There's a store like this big right there. So when I saw her, when I came to the back, the door closed and she was walking >> this door. >> Yeah. >> So the 41, the younger one. >> Let's figure out it's if he's stabbed or she >> there slashes. >> Okay. >> Like on the knees or slashes. >> Where's this guy? >> We don't We don't know. I think it's a female. >> Looks like a female. >> That's how officers found 21-year-old Grace Jennings, the victim of a savage sword attack that left her lifeless inside the garage. >> Garage. And >> yeah, the mom the mom's like, "Well, let me open it for you." And I was like, "No, give me the keys." I opened it with the keys cuz it was locked and there was a girl was there. You see like slashed on her knee. >> She's missing a ear. >> Okay. Missing her right ear. What else? >> Left left actually. Left >> left. Left ear. >> Uh, one of her knees is slashed. I can't remember if it's her left or right. >> Okay. >> And then there's a big sword right as you walk into the to the right on the dresser and it and then there's blood stains all over the bed. >> Okay. >> Is this blood over here? >> I don't think so. I think it's these little I think it's these little things. See what I mean? Like those drips over there. >> Yeah. No, I think it's these when you step on them. >> Oh, okay. >> When officers arrived, one reported seeing Kiara casually walking from the garage, which had already become part of a gruesome crime scene. Moments later, after discovering Grace's body, police confronted and detained her on the spot. What's shocking is how calm she seems, almost unfazed that a murder just took place steps from where she slept. But it's what she does during her official interview that will leave you speechless. And it's coming up soon. >> That's why you were in the house. >> Yeah. >> So, I was angry. >> She stayed the night. >> Yeah. >> In my house. >> Yeah. And I'm pissed about it. >> Grace is not allowed here. She knows that if they're tall and skinny, then it's going to be Grace. If they're tall and bigger, then I mean Isaac's a big guy. He's hard to miss. He's 6'2. >> Okay. Who's Isaac's girlfriend? >> She is. >> You're Isaac's girlfriend. >> Yes. >> Okay. What are you, Isaac? going to say if you have one. >> Well, I'm kind of mother-in-law to be. >> This is your daughter? >> Yes, this is my daughter. >> Step out with me real quick. What's your name? >> Kiara. >> Kiara, do you have shoes on? >> Okay. >> I don't know where my shoes are. >> Give me a >> This is his girlfriend for real quick. >> Oh, can I get some shoes on or something? Not right now. You get some shoes for be detained at this point. Okay. Hi. My question came back. >> So, >> I was right next to you the whole time. >> Real quick, sir. Uh, let's make it quick. That's us. >> Okay. So, he saw a female walk back in. We were trying to make entry and then we got confirmation. She said her son stays here. Uh, so what's your first name? >> Kiara. >> Yeah. >> Kiara what? >> Maui. >> Maui. Did you guys have a fight or something? >> Anybody else? >> Can she sit down so I can put her shoes on her feet? They they spend most of their time in there, so they're not bugging me while I work at home. >> Oh, there's she breathing. She's breathing. >> Is there a female that lives in here? >> Her and Isaac. Sorry. >> Kiara's mother is confused and probably in shock. Then she asked Kiara, "What did you do? >> What did you do?" >> And Isaac went for a walk. >> Yeah. >> He was going for a walk shower. They were going to go on a walk. >> Hey, >> so she went back in there. So you want to fill this up as well? >> Okay. >> She was in the shower. >> Okay. So nobody's going back in the house and nobody's going back in there. Okay. Kiara's mother has no idea what's really happening, completely unaware that her entire property has just become a crime scene and there's a dead body lying in her garage. >> I have cats. I have to They've been >> Unfortunately, Mom, but this is an active investigation. Okay. So, nobody's going back to her somehow. >> No, this is a crime scene at this point. >> How is my house a crime scene? >> There's a deceased person in your garage. >> That's why it's a crime scene. >> There's a body in there. A dead body in your garage. >> Stand up for me. Walk this way. >> What the? >> This is the moment she realizes her daughter is a monster. Now in custody, Kiara's headed to the station for a homicide interrogation. And what unfolds in that room, you won't want to miss. It's one of the craziest homicide interrogations you'll ever see. >> Okay. Have a seat back here for me. Police also question Kiara's mother, hoping she can help piece together what unfolded inside that home. >> They they spend most of their time in there so they're not bugging me while I work at home. >> Is he breathing? Conscious breathing. Any signs of life? No, sir. No. >> Police still have to clear the main home, which they have not done up until this point. >> There's no one. >> How about your animals by myself? >> How about your animals? Are they mean? Are they >> Your dog Your dog won't bite us? >> I I can't guarantee anything. >> This is your home, right? >> Go check. Make sure there's no one in there. >> Santa PD. Anyone here? Lisa, I'll be known. >> Okay. >> Santa Fe PD. Anyone here? Police shall be known when you >> police department. >> Hi puppy. >> Yeah, I >> think it goes around maybe. >> It's okay, puppy. It's okay. >> I think it goes around in here. Police bar. How do people live like this? >> Huh? >> That's uh >> I was kind of like, oh, this is sounds like a prank call. >> Yeah, that's what I thought initially. That caught me really off guard when I opened that door. >> Well, I see her and it's like >> I thought it was >> She got her ear chopped off. You see that? >> Huh? >> She has She's got her ears chopped off. >> No, I didn't see that. >> Her ear chopped off. So, >> King5, the main residence is secure. No one inside. >> Meanwhile, officers track Isaac down. Kiara's fiance at the Metro PCS store where he placed the call to police. >> Here, you're good. Come here. You don't have any knives, any weapons on you? >> No. >> No. Put the phone down. >> Just put it down for now. Just put it down. You're not in trouble, bro. Got to make sure you don't have any weapons. Okay. Put your hands up right here. Right here. I get it. It's good, bro. Here. For now, bro. Just because we're It looks like your girlfriend or whoever's in there is uh really injured. So, for now, we're going to put you under detention. Okay. So, we can figure this out. You're not under arrest. >> Okay. >> Here, I'll put this right here. >> What's your name? >> Isaac Apadaka. >> Apadaka. Yeah. >> Hey, listen to me. >> You said you found a girl. >> Yes. >> Where is she at? >> She's at 5941 Jaguar Drive in the garage. I walked in on >> trying to see if we have suspect 49. What was she wearing? Now, your girlfriend, the the girl you saw that was there, >> she was wearing a black sweater. >> Uhhuh. I was I walked into the the garage. I walked into the garage and when I walked in the garage, she goes, "Oh, I just did it." And I'm like, >> "And who who was this?" >> Kiara McCulli. >> She told you that >> very calmly and everything, blood on her hands and >> Okay. And I called my mom because I witnessed something traumatic like this happening before. >> So your girlfriend is the one that did this to this girl. >> Yes. >> And she's not at the house. Where does she normally go? >> Um beyond beyond her not being at the house, I have no clue. >> She doesn't tell me. >> Do you know who the girl in the garage is right now? >> I know who the girl is. She's a friend of mine. >> What's her name? My name is Grace Jennings. >> Grace Jennings. >> Police detain Isaac and transport him to the station where he's interviewed by homicide detectives. Isaac acts in disbelief, even stunned at what Kiara did until detectives unlock his phone. What they uncover next changes everything and his explanation for those messages unreal. >> And how long have you been in a relationship with uh Kiara? 3 years and 3 years. 10 months. >> 3 years and 10 months. >> Almost 4 years. >> And you've been staying here for about a year, you said, right? >> Okay. >> Now, going back to talking about uh Lonnie McCauley, you said she lives here in the main house. >> Yes. >> Okay. Uh, where does Kiara live? >> In the garage. Okay, so you and Kiara live in the garage. Okay, cool. That gives me some good background. Um, okay. Let's bring ourselves to today. Um, and kind of why we're here. So, this is what I want you to try and do. Okay. I want you to kind of think back to where kind of all this began before there was ever any anything regarding the incident. And I want you to kind of tell me in your own memory what happened from that time all the way to getting here to this interview. I'm going to do my best not to interrupt you, okay? I just want you to give me your own account of what happened. Okay? >> So from the time it began would be yesterday, we started we were all hanging out. Everybody was talking happy kind of thing. Not a lot. Night time came around and started going to we started falling asleep. Kiara McCalli did not fall asleep. Um I did not get good rest because she had been placing something sharp in my back throughout the morning hours. They've been placing something sharp in my back. And um I had told I was talking to Grace who was in the garage as well. I said I we have to go. Um she's she's telling us we need to leave. And I said that and then I proceeded to start packing my stuff and I left the main house to go use the restroom for the last time. The homicide detective wants to know more about Grace and their history. >> Grace, I met her through Snapchat and it was one of the weirdest circumstances. I was 20 at the time. She was 16 and my mom getting something wrong there. Um, but we started hanging out as friends and she became like one of my best friends. >> So, you met Grace through Snapchat. How long ago did you meet Grace? That was 20. >> You guys were hanging out as friends? Um, you guys ever date? >> Um, we did date. >> Did they? >> It was when she was 16, I was 20. >> Okay. >> I committed a crime there, but Well, >> I appreciate your honesty. I understand that's not what we're here for. Okay. Okay. You guys dated for a while and then you lost contact. So this period of losing contact is that would it be safe to call that a breakup or what was that? >> It was a breakup. >> Okay. >> So could I describe Grace's an ex-cultra? Would that be a fair way to describe her? >> Okay. So, Grace contacts you yesterday. How did she contact you? >> Through Instagram. >> You both have Instagram profiles. I imagine you and Grace. >> Yes. Okay. >> She was asking for a place to stay. >> A place to hang out for the night. >> Place to hang out for the night. For the night. Um, so you told me this was fine. >> Yes. Kara was um last night I had to I I had to tell her to stop being violent. She was being violent towards me prior to Grace contact. Um, she kept threatening me with a sword, threatening me with a knife. I There was a butterfly knife that's in the room. I had to grab out of her hand across the garage, but she had it like right up right here. And I told her, "Don't waving stuff around me like that. Please stop." >> When was this? >> Last night before Grace. >> Okay. Tell me about that incident a little bit more. >> She had she had been swinging her knife around like this and then she pointed at me like as if she was going to kill me and she was being very violent. She grabbed her sword, started swinging it around. Um there was a dagger. She was dragging across my face and I was down here. Please stop. I'm trying to concentrate and be calm. And this is actually something that has happened in the past where she has actually lashed out towards me. And I got in trouble because of a domestic violence case. >> Are you describing like kind of jealousy type things? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, at this point where you guys are arguing and she's bringing up the past, does she know that Grace is coming over? >> Yes. >> Okay. Did that have anything to do with this interaction? >> I I I think so. K also has a past with Grace. >> Oh, they know each other. >> Yes. >> What's their past? >> Uh, they are exes to each other. >> Oh, they used to date each other. Yes. >> Okay. How long ago was that? >> 2017. >> I walk in. She yelled. She tells me exactly. She yelled. She goes, "I did it." I look up and I see someone dead. I see an ear hanging. And I'm like, >> "You see someone dead? Who is that someone? >> Grace. >> How do you know if she's dead? >> Cuz she Cuz Kiara goes, I got her across the throat and she did the gurgle and I'm like, uh, uh, what do I do now? I need to get out of here. >> You don't like doing this? >> No. >> What were Kiara and Grace doing before you went to the restroom? They were just sitting there. They were sitting on the bed. And when I went back, that's what happened. I was like, "What?" This is >> Isaac keeps pointing fingers at Kiara, pretending he had nothing to do with it. But the detective is about to start reading his text messages out loud. The truth comes crashing down, and it's darker than anyone expected. >> This is at 11:56 a.m. What? And that's that's uh forgive me, I forgot her name for a second. This is your fiance saying this. What? >> Yes. >> Hey, I have a plan with what I said. All I have to do is be over there at my fam's place and call the cops for a breaking and entering. What are you talking about there? >> Um it was something that happened in my family's house. We've been trying to figure out who has been getting into my uh storage. Mhm. >> I have stuff in my storage and they keep finding it unlocked and that was something entirely different. >> Hold up. Listen. Okay, plan B. Just tell her she needs to leave. Follow my lead, my lady. Just tell her to leave, dude. I'm in a mood. I did through Insta. So, now what? Operation kick out. me following the call to the cops once at my families. What does that mean? >> That was um I was talking about cuz she had asked me to leave and that's why I said operation kick out cuz every time I get told to leave, I say operation kick out cuz it's her go-to thing to tell me to leave. And it's like she kicks me out and then a few months a few days later come back over and stuff like that. But to call the cops at my family was because of the breaking energy. >> So according to you, you're talking about two different things at the same time. >> Yes. >> Okay. How about I just explain why I'm angry and why she's not wanted. Okay. Show me what you sent her. My plan. Okay. Cool. And those are the messages that we looked at earlier between you and Yes. Okay. >> It worked with Christian. She says she is leaving at 3:30. She's mad. 3:30. Mad still. Yeah. Why don't you pop off my little firecracker? What would you like me to do? Stab her? I don't know. Well, I don't have the energy to do. What's this? Read what she sent. Is she stupid? Yes. Okay. I am fake getting thrown out. I am fake getting thrown out. You're getting fake thrown out. >> Yes. That's usually how it happens. I get told to leave. Mhm. >> And 5 days later, she offers me to come back. >> Her mother is her backup ride. >> Okay. Want me to get your mom to give me a ride to Target so you can take my stuff into the back room and her mom and your mom don't get into it? Yay or nay? Wait a bit though. Okay. How long until there's a clue on when she's leaving? She admitted to me when she lived at those apartments and she was sober then. She admitted to me also back when I first met her calling you crazy. What are you talking about? >> I don't know. That's not me. >> That's not you. >> That's not me. >> Who is it? >> That's the other phone that's been they they were being used to message back and forth. >> Isaac, this is getting really weird, man. >> I have a second phone. >> You have a second phone? >> Yes. >> Where is that phone? >> That's at the house. >> Okay. It is logged into the same Facebook account. >> The detective isn't finished with the text messages just yet. He's holding them back, waiting for the perfect moment to corner Isaac. >> Um, was there any uh sexual interaction between anyone last night? >> No. >> No threesome or nothing like that between the three of you guys? >> No. >> Has that ever been anything you guys have ever done in the past or thought about it? >> Uh, that did happen in the past and Who was involved? >> It was first Kiara and this girl named Alex Lopez. >> Okay. >> And they were consenting to have a lesbian thing. >> And then they called me to the room and I was like, "Okay, cool. I could come back to the room, probably watch TV." and they pressured me into getting involved with them. >> You didn't want to. >> Correct. >> Okay. >> And afterwards, after everything was done, I did not feel the same. >> I felt >> um I was peer pressure pressured. >> Mhm. >> And I was pressured into a corner. Figured not figurative, literally. uh pinned into a corner to do this >> to do a threesome. >> Yes. >> Okay. What about last night? >> There was no threesome. There was no sex. Nothing else. >> Was that ever on the table? >> No. >> Okay. Was there anything romantic going on between you and Grace? >> No. >> What about between Grace and your fianceé, >> Ki? >> Is there anything sexual behind this weapon fascination that Kiara has? Do you guys ever use weapons during sex or anything like that? >> No. >> No. >> I'm actually terrified of anything about >> Yeah. >> Especially since I had another friend, this is going to go completely off topic, but another friend of mine stole some knives from me. >> And this is when I could have knives. >> Yeah. and she had put in the journal a lock of my hair and a story about how she wanted to have some kind of act with me while slicing my throat >> and I was like okay weapons. >> So Kiara had interest in Grace to rekindle something >> and how did you feel about that? >> I did not want to be a part of it. But that's your fiance, right? >> I didn't want to be a part of it and I had already told her I told her in person saying I don't want to be a part of anything you have to do if you go on and move on forward with anything you do now. >> But you invited Grace over there. >> Yes. >> Hey, can I come back? I don't know. Can you? Yes. Dagger because it's blunt. What does that mean? Um, >> why are you telling her dagger because it's blunt? >> She was ask she asked me a question in the room like what what is the difference between the dagger and the sword? >> Okay. >> And I message dagger because it's >> why is blunt better? She says you say it cuts like butter. She says just going to stab the throat. Is that what she's trying to say? >> The thought. >> Just going to stab the thought. Yes. Instant or will it take long? What does she mean? >> Instant. What do we do about the mess? What do we do about the mess? What mess? We burn it and I'll buy new blankets in bed. >> What's going on here, Isaac? >> She I was talking to her and >> what miss? She was talking about I She said stab. She's going to stab the thought and I thought thought like um like she was poking the thought that was in her head about her dagger. >> Okay. What about the mess? What mess? >> Uh she had made a mess in the >> in the bed. >> What kind of mess? A poop kind of mess. >> A poop kind of mess. >> Yes, >> we burn it and I'll buy new blankets in bed. >> Yeah, >> but until we can. I love these sheets. And my favorite fuzzy blanket is here. I know. Just intense wash tomorrow. Hydrogen peroxide and ice washer will get it out. Yes. Can you help this time? Yes. I am just waiting for you to make the first move. What does she mean? I'm waiting for you to make the first move. She will wait till sleep. Shall we wait till sleep? >> So she pooped herself last night? >> Yes. >> And did you guys wash the sheets? >> No. >> So you guys slept in a bed full of poop? >> Yes. >> So when we go to the garage later for a search warrant, there's poop on the sheets. >> Yes. >> Okay. Gotcha. What are What are you guys waiting for till sleep? Shall we wait till sleep? Remember when you told me don't be a when I kissed you? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Brat, we will have to take care of the mess ASAP after we finish. We will have to take care of the mess. I thought she already pooped herself. What mess are you guys taking care of? >> I don't know. >> Okay. >> Cuz I was trying to go on about remember when you told me to be when I kissed you. I was trying to >> tell her that bring up something that was a good memory. Yes, you're in charge of cleanup. Okay. I can't tell if she's falling asleep. It feels like it. Her feet are on my side. I wish you'd make the first move for once. Remember, you'll move up the ranks. Plus, you get perks in the black market since this is your first. Your first what? >> Isaac, what the hell happened? Tell me what happened for real. Can we stop making up lies about these messages? What the hell happened last night? >> She was messaging me on planning on how to kill her. And >> who was messaging you planning on how to kill who? >> Kiara. >> Kiara was messaging you on how planning how to kill? >> Grace. >> Grace. >> Yes. >> And what were you doing? >> I was only sending a message back only in correspondence. I just wanted to sleep. That's what I >> Are you sure? Cuz this sounds like you're planning something with Kiara. Is that what's happening? Don't lie to me. What's happening here? I can see the messages. I'm not done. This isn't the first time I've done this. What is happening? >> She was planning on killing Grace. I just didn't want a part of it. >> It doesn't seem like you're trying to talk her out of it. And when it comes to the stuff as I'm as I'm talking you she I was only sending message back in agreeance as I turned my back towards >> this isn't agreeance remember you'll move up in ranks plus you get perks in the black market since this is your first this sounds like you're encouraging her >> right >> the messages are here dude >> I [clears throat] know I I know right After that, I was trying to fall asleep cuz I didn't want to be a part of anything. >> When did this plan start? Cuz this was planned. >> She planned it out. >> Grace planned it out. >> No, now Grace. Kiara planned it out. >> Kiara planned it out. When? How long had this been a plan for? >> She had planned it out since 2020. >> Kiara planned to kill Grace since 2020. >> Yes. >> And you knew about it since 2020. >> Yes. And I had been to going to counseling because of the because of this. >> Okay. And then last night, Grace messages you looking for a place to stay and that's the opportunity for this. >> I didn't see it as an opportunity. I saw it as an opportunity. More like let's squash everything. >> Then why are you saying you'll make it up the ranks plus your perks in the black market since this is your first? cuz you're talking about killing her here, right? >> I was >> What else could this mean? Remember, you'll move up in the ranks, plus you get perks in the black market since this is your first. What else would you be talking about here? >> I was trying to talk about something else cuz I'm trying to get my mind off. >> Isaac, really? You're trying to talk about something else there? >> Yes. And I'm not >> How do I aim? How do I aim right? Just aim. Well, tell me what you're talking about there. That's Call of Duty. >> That's Call of Duty. Tell me when. Okay, I'll give a count. Six. Five. I can't yet, dude. Four. I'm shaking, dude. I know. I lose the nervous. Help me drive it through. Help me drive it through. What do you mean help me drive it through? >> She was asking me to do >> to stab her. >> Yes. And I didn't want to do anything. She was asking, "Help me drive what? The sword, the dagger, the butterfly knife." What? >> The dagger. >> Help me drive the dagger through Grace. Well, what you say here is I am saying just swing and don't regret the aim. So, tell me tell me what that means. Just swing and don't regret the aim. >> It was me telling her if she was going to do something, she should do it. And I didn't want I didn't want to be a part of it. I have my I had all my >> What is holding you back? Type it. You're edging her to do this. Come on, Isaac. Isaac, look at all these messages, man. You're going to sit here and tell me. You're going to look me in the eye and you're going to tell me that you were trying to talk her out of this. I can see right here you're telling her to do it. What the hell happened last night, man? Why did you want her to do this? >> I didn't want her to do this. >> Why are you pushing her to do this? >> I was trying to as the messages are going through, she kept coming back and forth to talk to me and the messages were going through and I was just like, I had enough. I'm done. Like, >> hope, love, [ __ ] You say, well, at what percentage are they? She says, I don't know. You say you still love her. You have hope in her. And you tired of the bull she put you through. She says, "I want to break her heart. She hurt me more while you were out." >> The detective isn't biting. Isaac is seconds from revealing what actually happened to Grace. >> Tell us the truth. Tell us everything. It'll be better for you. >> Would I be able to talk to you privately? >> Yes. You want her to leave? Uh, >> yes. >> All right. Okay. Tell me what happened, man. Clear your conscious. What happened? >> Don't think about it. Just put it all out there. Tell me what happened. You'll feel better. >> I'm not thinking. It's just I was asked to help quite a bit in those messages. >> Yes, you were. >> And I didn't want to help. I didn't want to help. I didn't want to help. Simple fact that it was my friend. So I had found I was trying to find a possible alternative to get her out of there to safety. And that was when I called my friend Chris and Chris. They were right in the neighborhood. >> Mhm. and they were like, "Well, let's get us let's get the area set up for her to come over." And after that, I started sending me I sent some messages back to make it sound like I was doing something stupid, but I didn't I didn't plan on intending it to happen. Well, what about all the messages where you're clearly egging her on? You're and you could tell me you're talking about something else. you're referencing movies. I don't >> The barn is actually a reference to movie. That's the only one that I'm going to say. >> Let's We'll give you that one. Give you the benefit of the doubt on that one. But all the other ones that you were saying you meant something else, come on, Isaac. Come on. You know you were talking about something else, right? >> Yes. >> You know you were. So, if you're going to sit here and tell me that you didn't you didn't want this to happen, that you were trying to talk her out of it, push her away from it, the messages, don't say that, man. So, so tell me what really happened. What What's the point of all this? Why did this happen? >> The point was that >> it's over, Isaac. It's over. Look at me. Look at me. It's over, dude. It's over. What you can do from here on out is be truthful and help us understand why this happened. Mistakes happen, dude. You need to own it. Tell me everything. Don't sugarcoat it. Don't bull. Tell me everything. Um, can agree I made a mistake texting back how I sounded. I can agree that She wanted me to help. And it sounded like I wanted to help. I didn't want to help. >> You didn't want to help? >> No. >> But you wanted her to do it. >> She She wanted to do it the whole time. And I didn't. >> Did you want Kiara? >> No. >> You did not want her to kill her? >> No. >> What did you want? >> I wanted a peaceful resolve. >> He wanted a peaceful resolution. So he left Grace alone with Kiara. >> Is she wanted to start killing people? I didn't want to be a part of it. >> I don't want to be a part of anybody who kills. >> But you were a part of it last night, >> right? >> I understand. >> Were you or were you not? Look at all the messages you were telling her. I was a part of the message sounding schemage and plotty kind of feel. I don't know how to say words now. I was a part of those messages. What else? What else can you tell me? What time did this actually happen at? >> What time did the killing actually happen at? >> 12 47. >> It did happen when you went to go pee, did it? >> They didn't even have a plan for what happens after >> from here. you hadn't thought that far. >> What do I do from here? And she's saw we'll dispose I'm going to get Al and me, Al and Kiara. We're going to get together to dispose of the body. And I was like, oh no. >> You thought, "Oh no." >> I thought, "Oh no." But you're messaging her throughout the the whole night talking about this happening, talking about stabbing her and wait till she's asleep and you're egging her on. But then this happens and you're like, "Oh no." Yeah, I've seen the garage, right? I've seen I've seen what it looks like. I don't think that happened in 30 seconds to 2 minutes that it took you to go inside and pee. There's a lot of injuries there is what it looks like. >> I was not involved with any of it. I was inside the house. >> Confidence gone. Isaac's stare says it all. He knows his future is a prison. But wait for Kiara's interview. It's absolutely insane. And coming up next, >> go with my mom and dad. >> Okay. Well, before we get to that point, I would like the truth from you. The full truth. Are you ready to give that to me? Yes. >> Hit it. >> Say it all. Don't censor it. Tell me everything happened. >> Those messages were me telling her how to plan it out. >> Okay. Good point. >> I was told to leave. So was Grace. Mhm. And I started packing my bags. And when I finished packing, I had to go pee. Came back. There was a dead person in there. Grace. Well, what seemed dead. >> Mhm. >> And from there, I did something stupid. I parttook in being involved in some stupid text messages. And I'm done. I'm the idiot. That's me being truthful. Sir, >> did you want this to happen to Grace? >> I did not want it to happen to Grace. >> So then why all the messages last night? >> I wanted it to happen to me. Well, your messages did say that. >> I wanted it to happen to me. Um, I don't I don't I don't know if you if you know, but I've been going through a lot lately. >> After grilling Isaac, detectives sit down with Kiara, and her interview goes off the rails fast. You don't want to miss it. And that starts now. >> Any idea why you're here today? >> I I believe it's cuz somebody was found dead in my room. >> Where's your room at? >> In the garage. >> The garage? >> Yes. I was trying to make sure this wasn't a freaking dream again. This feels so weird. >> Um, you believe someone was found dead in your room? Do you have any idea who that might be? >> Well, I'm really tired, but uh last night Isaac invited my ex-girlfriend, Grace Jennings, who now has is going by Yamo. I don't know anymore. She's gone through so many name changes, it's confusing me. I always knew her as Grace or Rose. I was really upset, so I just went on a walk and spent most of the night in the house this morning. I was trying to sleep, but if you want me to tell me again, >> sorry, >> who are you talking to? Um, my best guess is that I have DID, but I'm not 100% certain. >> What's DID? >> Dissociative identity disorder. >> Um, I haven't had it actually diagnosed, but that's my best guess from my research. >> Mhm. >> Um, there are different personalities that come out. >> Do you have names for them? >> Some of them. Yeah. >> What are their names? Um there's Abby and um then there's we call her Jinx because she people saying her real name. >> Jinx. >> Yeah. >> If you say her real name, she it's mad. >> Then there's one personality that I haven't seen in a long time. Like I haven't communicated with her. It's with I wonder. >> Her name was Jess. >> Jess. >> Jessica, but you always called her Jess. >> Any other personalities? >> There's the little version of me, which actually responds to my biological name, my government name, which is very dangerous for her, and I don't I don't want her to get hurt. None of us do. >> She She responds to Kiara. >> Yeah. >> That's the little version of you. >> Yeah. >> What do you mean by that little version of you? >> It's like a little kid >> before bad start happening in my life. >> What kind of bad stuff happened in your life? >> Um, oh, I've had bad relationship with my mom. reason why I never wanted to see Grace, but I pissed me off by bringing her to my house. She did something really stupid and I wanted to see her change and I wanted to see something happen where she would admit it, but she's just Is she ever dead? >> Grace. >> Yeah. >> You don't know? >> I'm not sure. >> What do you think? Well, I'm partially hopeful for her to be dead, but I'm also like confused. Like, this I'm like, >> why would you hope that she's dead? >> Uh, I'm still angry at her, but I also have hope that she'd be better, but it's like this frustrating motion that I can't seem to pinpoint. >> Well, tell me why you're angry at her. when [sighs] I need to keep my together because I get very upset very easily. Back in 2016, there was a video floating around of a 14-year-old girl getting hard and another girl standing there collecting money from them. There were there were 16 or 17 guys involved. >> Well, the girl getting money was Grace. The other one was me. >> Sorry. That sounds like a difficult memory. >> Also a virgin, so I never got to >> Yeah, it's not. >> That's hard. Thank you for sharing that. I know that's probably something difficult to share, especially with a stranger. Kiara says she has dissociative identity disorder, but did usually starts much earlier from severe repeated childhood trauma between the ages of 6 and 9. A single event at 14 rarely triggers it. Is she laying the groundwork for an insanity defense? >> She was the first person I ever loved. >> Grace was >> and the first person to completely destroy me. Part of me hates her guts and wants to see her dead. The other part wants to see her get better and see if she'd admit it and just fix it. It's like I'm split. I don't know. >> Yeah. >> What's the better emotion? Fighting between them is really challenging. >> Sure. >> That's why I didn't want her in my home. It's just like this is too much. >> Yeah. A lot of emotion. How long did you guys date for >> this? I don't really remember how long it was. >> Years. Months. >> Probably months. >> Months. Less than a year, >> I think. So, >> how long ago was this? What year did you date? >> It was 2015, 2016ish. >> 2016 was when the video was rolling around. >> Have you kept in contact with her since then? I've contacted her once in a while just to like check on her. Sure. >> Usually she tells me to leave me alone and I just disappear. Last night it really frustrated me cuz about a week ago I messaged her. She told me leave you leave her alone and I did. Isaac decided to invite her to stay with us. >> Why would you do that? >> Cuz she's suddenly homeless. She suddenly needed somebody. He's done this with so many people. He's an idiot. >> Yeah. Who is Isaac? >> He's my ex- fiance slash friend. Confusing as hell. >> Ex fiance. >> Yeah. >> Also, >> we were engaged for 3 years. >> Okay. And we broke up in April this year. And this because he was a idiot and I forgive his I let him move back in with me. Okay. My brain keeps thinking of me. Sorry. >> Did I just kick you? >> Yeah, you did. >> Okay. >> So, where do you live at? I live in the garage with Isaac at my mom's house. >> What's the address to your mom's house? >> 5941 Jaguar Drive. Okay. >> So, from what I understand, and tell me if this is accurate, there is a primary residence. 5941 Jaguar Drive. There's a bit of a backyard and then there's a garage. >> Yes. >> So, you and Isaac live in that garage? >> Yes. K. Currently, as of last night, you guys lived in that garage. >> Yes. >> I really hope my cats are okay. >> Kiara seems more worried about her cats than the fact that Grace was killed in her mother's garage, the same place she and Isaac lived, showing no concern for Grace or the pain her family is enduring. >> But But he's your ex, but you guys live together in that garage. >> Yeah. >> Trying to stay friends. And it's like still acting like we're together and Yeah. I felt bad because I made him homeless for like 2 weeks. I got to stop feeling bad for people. >> You guys still have sex with each other? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> That must get confusing, right? That's your ex, but you guys are still being intimate. >> Yeah. >> He wants to fix everything and it's just gotten so complicated. So you guys were alone for half an hour and then and then what happened? >> Then Isaac came back and [sighs and gasps] started feeling frustrated cuz she wasn't listening to me at all. >> So I got up and I left for a little while. Ow. >> Yes. >> What's your cut from? I dropped a knife last night, which was what I was about to mention. >> That's a tough uh It's a tough spot to get a cut [clears throat] out. >> Yeah, it's >> your skin moves a lot. >> It's actually where I was about to go. I left and went in the house for a bit and decided to try and make something. I dropped a stupid knife and grabbed it wrong. Got mad and I just walked out of the house for a few minutes just like And I went back, cleaned it out, and cleaned it this morning after my shower. >> Interesting place for an injury, especially after a fatal stabbing. The detective definitely makes a mental note. >> So, did Grace spend the night? >> Fortunately, yes. >> Fortunately or unfortunately? >> Unfortunately. >> Unfortunately. >> I started to get really frustrated and I couldn't fall asleep. >> So, she stayed in the garage. >> Yeah. And you slept in the garage and so did Isaac. Do you have a whole chunk of memory missing? >> Yeah. >> But you remember the whole night clearly before that? >> I remember most of it. Like a little foggy cuz I'm like obviously exhausted >> and there's this chunk just missing that I just I'm so conf. >> Kiara doubles down giving the detective more details about her alleged dissociative identity disorder. Sometimes this personality decides, "Oh, I'm going to go to this room that can't see the TV or gets literally shoved in there." Sometimes it feels like it's getting shoved. >> Yeah. >> Like you get randomly locked in a room or something and you don't know what the hell's going on. >> It's good. >> And then they're playing your game and you don't know what the hell's going on. >> Yeah. Yeah, I could see that. That's a really good um analogy you gave there. That really helps me understand it. >> And like each let's see um round >> or each memory kind of gets stored away >> and whoever was playing gets to hold that like I don't want anyone else to see. Is it mine? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> But if they feel okay, you need to know this happened. >> Meaning Froggy, right? That's who we're talking to now. Froggy. Okay. Okay. >> It felt like I got like this shoved into a room >> at what point? >> Was like was just before I went to take my shower. >> That was today. >> Yeah. >> What time did you take your shower? >> I don't know. I was looking at the clock >> after morning. I think so. >> Kiara tells the detective she's had dreams about killing Grace before. >> You said something interesting earlier. You said um you asked about Grace. You asked if she was okay and you said that part of you would be okay if she was dead, [clears throat] right? >> Yeah. >> It's honest. I like honest people. >> I don't want to lie. >> Yeah. Um have you ever thought about hurting her or killing her? I had a couple dreams like that. >> You had a couple dreams like that? >> Yeah. >> How' those dreams go? >> Um, they were mostly right after we broke up and then there were triggers and stuff. But >> did you kill her in those dreams or what happened to those dreams? >> Sometimes I would kill her, sometimes I would torture her, sometimes it was just me screaming at her. >> How would you torture her in your dreams? basically reenacting when she did something to herself. >> Oh, okay. So, you're the one kind of taking the money and she's the one. >> Yeah, >> I see. >> But making it worse. >> I see. And how would you kill her? >> Um, >> in your dreams. >> Dependent on the dream. >> So, there's several dreams. >> Yes. >> How many? >> I've had like a bunch of murder dreams, if you could call that, >> about a lot of different people. Not just Grace. >> Yeah, Grace is like the number one. I am pissed at you. >> And then there's like Maxi, which Okay, I'm going to not talk about that cuz that's going to >> go focus on Grace. >> We don't have to make you upset. >> It's just going to start a whole tangent and I'm going to get like slightly angry. >> That's fine. >> So, you thought about killing Grace a number of times? No. I have dreams about it all the time and I'm like, I wonder what this would look like in my brain. >> Do you use weapons or what do you do? >> Um, I create torture devices out of sex toys. [laughter] >> What kind of sex toys? >> Usually a dildo and then put razor blades on it and cover it in lemon juice. >> And I don't like any. I also thought about doing that toy >> razor blade dildo with lime juice. That sounds painful. >> Yes, the whole book is torture. >> True. True. >> Kiara now explains this weird underground cult society. >> This might sound really weird. So, there's an organization that I is in charge of. I probably shouldn't be saying this to a couch. >> I saw the messages about it. I'm just trying to understand it. Marina. >> Well, it's called Ghost. >> They're like an underground version of cops in a way, >> but a little more intense and deadly. And they get rid of people who are in words in charge of sex trafficking, in charge of anything that has to deal with hurting kids. And they kept trying to tell me, "Just do it and you're going to just just kill her. Then you'll get ranked up." >> Yeah. >> Yeah. How do we join? And I'm like, I don't know what the going on. And I kept hesitating. It's like, >> what's that thing there? >> It's um the mark for um I'm very confused because he hasn't told me jack. He just gave this to me. It was like, "No, you're a part of it." Like, "Okay." >> That was like a like an initiation tattoo kind of. >> Yeah. >> How do you how do you do that? How do you make it? >> Oh, I have a tattoo machine. >> Oh, okay. Got you. Is it? >> That's how I did all these. >> I was going to ask. Yeah, you got some work there. >> Kiara claims a cult called Ghost gets rid of people. Yet, there's no record of such a group in New Mexico. Calculated delusion to set up an insanity defense or a darker lie to dodge the truth. Keep watching. So ghosts are an underground society of people that kind of their own version of cops and justice. They kind of kill bad people. >> And so and this is kind of me trying to piece together kind of like what you were saying like the messages I saw too was Isaac trying to push you to kill Grace. >> Yeah. every I had my dagger in my hand and I kept going and then just stopped like I felt a little kid's hand hold me back >> like it was Kiara telling me don't don't don't >> cuz that was also her best friend's sister growing up. >> Yeah. >> And God things got so messy. That sucks. >> Do you think you killed Grace? >> I'm not sure. >> She is dead. That's the dead person we found in the garage. Do you have any memory of that? Give me a second. Just like what the >> Yeah. Kiara sits frozen, acting like she can't remember. But you don't just forget nearly taking someone's head off with a sword. >> I'm trying to process this properly. This is like confusing. Did I? I don't know. Like Isaac disappeared for a while. I don't like after I took my shower, I couldn't find him. I just assumed he went on a walk. >> Isaac went for a walk to call police because he was traumatized. Yet, he's supposedly the cult leader who gets rid of people. If that were true, would this even shake him? Their story doesn't add up. >> Trying to think and what the >> Do you remember when police arrived on? >> I just remember my heart going like crazy. It's okay. >> I don't know. It's like I'm not used to cops just showing up at my house. >> The detective pulls Kiara back to when Grace was killed, pressing for specifics, not stories. >> You think it's possible he killed her? >> I'm guessing myself right now, like second guessing, trying to figure out if it was one of them. >> Mhm. >> Or someone I haven't met yet. >> Is there any way to ask them? They're very picky on when they talk. Oh, >> I see. >> It was like, come on. It took It took Jess and Abby like three almost four years to tell me what the happened >> from the internet. Yeah. You were telling me that Grace is kind of at the top of your list of people you wanted thought about killing right now. >> Yeah. Automatic suspect. I know. >> Well, yeah. It's It's not >> Yeah, it's not ideal, but >> it's not point in lying about it. >> There's really not. And it's it's interesting that you have that that kind of wisdom because most people come in here and >> try to lie their way out of it. >> Yeah. And it's um it's very irritating. Uh Isaac tried to do a lot of that and you know we this is our profession especially when there's messages and stuff. It's it's very it's very transparent when someone is lying. You know what I mean? Now I'm intrigued what he tried to lie about cuz I'm trying to figure out if he's been lying to me. >> Yeah. >> Talking about the black market and ghost and Bitcoin and the end of the world in 24 days. >> You said there's a possibility that you might have killed Grace. Also a possibility that Isaac might have done it, right? There's kind of that gap of >> Yeah. >> time missing in your memory. >> It's confusing. Do you ever remember blood being on you? >> Um, I remember when I cut myself, but I don't know much more than that. >> And how did you cut yourself again? >> I tried to catch a knife >> in the kitchen. Yes. >> What kind of knife? >> I dropped it and I tried to catch him. >> It's the kind of wound you see in stabbings, but she claims she got it catching a knife. >> So again, from what you can remember, you don't know who killed Grace. I'm not 100% certain. I'm only guessing. I've seen Isaac get violent before, but I know how angry I am at her. >> Mhm. >> But of course, he's talked out before. >> What does that mean to me? So, >> um, well, he seems to It feels like he's grown. I feel like a gross and his smash >> little bit further apart, but you know what I mean. >> Mhm. Yeah. >> And then I turned into a rag doll and I'm still mad about it, but at the same time trying to forgive him. >> So the uh the sword you said you bought, right? >> Yeah. >> How long ago did you buy that? >> So I got it maybe two weeks agoish. >> What about the dagger? >> The dagger was a couple days before that. That's yours as well. >> Yes. >> The butterfly knife. >> The butterfly knife um was I think a couple days before the dagger. >> Kiara and Isaac were arrested on charges of firstdegree murder and conspiracy to commit firstdegree murder. Stay to the end for the case outcome. Up next is the call the detective made to Isaac's mother, letting her know her son has been charged with murder. And then the very sad and heartbreaking interview with Grace's family, her mother and aunt. >> Hello. >> Good morning. Is this Miss uh Linda Mononttoya? >> Montoya. >> Yeah. >> Hi, this is Detective Javadi Hill with the San Feed Police Department. How are you this morning? >> Right now, it means >> Yeah. I uh I want to first off apologize for no one contacting you last night. um that got kind of mixed up in translation of who was going to call you or who was going to touch base with you. Um so I want to take responsibility for that cuz I'm the lead investigator on the case. Um I I imagine you you saw the news or heard the news of your son getting charged. >> Why? >> Well, it's an active investigation. So I I can't give you too many of the details because um it's still >> I could give you the details when he told me >> yesterday what he saw. >> Yeah, I uh I interviewed him yesterday for probably somewhere around 3 hours. Um and during the course >> has a violent history with people. His girlfriend has a fight and kids out >> knives trying to stab people disrespecting people, threatening people. But yes, she's out of jail. >> Yeah, she's she's in jail, too. They both got charged. >> No, they both got charged. >> They both got charged. >> That she got charged. >> Yeah, they're they're both charged with an open count of uh of of first-degree murder. >> Well, I'm going to read what I told my sisters. >> Okay. >> Okay. So my son called me. She kicked him out. She wanted him out. So I he called me, "Mom, dad, can you come to pick me up? I have two bags and they're small." And then I was like, "Okay, but are you still sick?" Cuz they both had I don't know, they had the virus or whatever. >> Mhm. >> And they said, "I have COPD and my mom's in the hospital and she can't get sick and I've been visiting her. And my husband got get sick cuz he has asthma, >> right? >> So we told him, "No, you have to get a motel. How much money do you have? 3,000." He saved get a motel. And then he goes, then he calls me back. He goes, "I'll call you later." Right? Then he called me back and he goes, "Oh, she" She goes, "Then he called me saying that that she didn't want him to leave all day. Just half the day." >> Mhm. >> Not fully. That's what he said. >> Mhm. >> And that she um just wanted him away, >> right? >> So he wanted to hang out with us and taking us out to eat and everything, >> right? And I told him, "No, cuz you're sick and I got to go visit grandma. Grandma's in the hospital and she my mom has a liver non-alcohol liver fibrosis and her kidneys are failing." >> So I I can't go get these, you know, have him be with me and then taking whatever he has, >> right? >> You know. >> Yeah. So anyways, he goes, "Well, I'm going into the main house and I'll call you." Okay. He calls me and goes, "Um, mom, I'm in the main house. Um, I'll call you in a while." And then after he called me, he said that, "Mom, I just witnessed something." And he and he wouldn't say anything else. And I kept asking him, "What do you see, son?" And he didn't say nothing. He was just quiet. He was shocked. And he he said again, "Mom, I witnessed a murder." And I'm asking, "Who and what?" And I'm like freaking out. And he said, "Killwell killed Grace." >> Mhm. >> And I asked how. And then he he couldn't say. He was he was so in shock. And he finally said, "Um, he replied, Kira killed Grace with the sword I bought her recently." >> Mhm. >> And then my husband called cops cuz he thought that she murdered one of the animals, >> right? >> Cuz she's done it. She's done it in the past. And um so my husband called the milk cream. I'm on one side of the phone and I'm on the other side with my son. And he goes, "I want to go get my bag." And I said, "No, do not touch anything. That's evidence." And and he was thought, "I'm scared of my life, Mom. I'm scared of my life." And I said, "Well, then go somewhere so but let me know where you're at, >> right?" >> So I could let the dispatchers know. And he he was just so scared. He goes, "I'm a metro PC. Um, nobody can find me here, but let the police know." And I Okay. So, I let the police know and then they they gave him the phone number. The dispatcher, they couldn't get a hold of him, but they finally found him. And then after that, I didn't hear nothing. >> Yeah. And like I like I said, we we should have had contact with you last night, especially after we uh the decision was made to charge your son. Um the what I can tell you is what's what's public record now. What I filed in the criminal complaint for your son and for um Kiara last night. >> Um would you like to hear this over the phone right now or do you want to meet sometime this week early in the week? >> No, over the phone. >> Over the phone. So >> hold on. >> Sure. >> I'm gonna put you on my husband. >> Yeah. >> Is that my husband? Cuz >> Are you there? >> Yeah, I'm here. Can you hear me? >> So, this probably isn't going to be easy to hear, but in the interview with uh Isaiah, um we're about 2 hours into the interview. Um he had a cell phone on him at the time that he was located and detained by law enforcement. >> What did he have? >> A cell phone. >> His cell phone. >> He had his cell phone. >> Yeah, his personal cell phone. So with these with these kinds of investigations um especially when phone calls are made, text messages, things like that, there's reason to believe there's evidence on them. So uh standard procedure um in past precedences we'll we'll either obtain a search warrant for the cell phone or get get consent from the witness, victim, whoever of the cell phone um to see if there's any messages or data on the cell phone relevant to the investigation. Are you with me so far? >> Yes. So Isaiah gave me consent to search his phone cuz why would he have anything to hide, right? Uh he called 911. So um we got consent for his phone to search it and then I started going through the phone with him through the messages cuz I was trying to understand exactly what happened yesterday too as an investigator. >> Well, as I'm going through the phone with Isaiah, I start >> Isaac, sorry. As I start going the through the phone with Isaac, Isaac's phone, um I start coming across messages between him and Kiara. And uh there are a lot of detailed messages throughout the night of them conspiring to uh kill Grace. So the the the charges that we filed are not done uh on a whim. They're not done for no reason. I understand that he called you and he himself called 911, but there there is other evidence um that suggests he had a hand in this, ma'am. >> Okay. Then I was afraid that that was going to happen. My daughter text me last night and she was telling me that >> that in the past they were threatening while Grace and Carol were threatening each other and >> Yeah. >> and he got involved and and I kept telling him, "Leave it alone, son." >> Yeah. >> Leave her alone. You need to call the claps that this is happening. >> Yeah. >> So you're telling me this was planned? Yes. >> My husband said he had a feeling it was planned. >> It um again I'm I'm not going to go into too many of the details. Um but >> she said she's a witch. >> Yeah. She she was telling us I'm a witch. >> Yeah. >> And then she we took her one time to church cuz we were Christians, >> right? >> And and we took her to church with our son. >> Mhm. was going back to church and everything. We got out. She acted different. My my husband had to yell at her and told her, "You know what? Just for you disrespected me, you could just walk." >> Yeah. >> But I'm going to be a Christian man to take you home. And at the time that my son had left her, but she kept coming back to him. >> Yeah. the uh the other details in the criminal complaint, which uh should now be public record at this point. Um if you want to if you want to get a copy of it and refer to it, um it's it's pretty it's pretty gruesome everything that that we've uncovered only in the first 24 hours. Um and there's, you know, there there's still more investigating to be done um that's going to follow on within the next few weeks. Um, I have more people I want to talk to in depth, more uh more devices I want to search through just to get the entire picture of what happened. >> Um, but if if you uh if you have time throughout this week, um, you're welcome to come in and I'll meet with you and talk with you for a bit. >> Okay. >> You want to do that? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Uh, is this a good phone number for you, ma'am? >> Yes, this is a good phone number. >> Okay. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Um, did my phone number show up in your caller ID? >> Yeah, it did. >> Okay, go ahead and save this number. This is my uh this is my work number. Um, again, I'm I'm Detective Vhill. Um, I I don't have my phone on on my days off. As a matter of fact, it's my day off today, but you deserved a phone call to know what was going on. Um, so my phone will be off the rest of today and probably tomorrow, but I'm [clears throat] coming back Tuesday and the rest of the week. I'll be working. and if you want to get in touch with me or we'll get in touch with each other Tuesday, Wednesday, we'll see if we can get together and meet. Okay. >> Okay. Thank you so much. >> Okay, guys. You have a you have a good rest of your weekend, right? >> You [snorts] too. >> Okay. Bye. >> Video off. >> With that, the detective faced the hard task, telling Isaac's mother the truth about her son being a monster. And it broke her heart. Cases like this leave two circles of victims. The family of the slain and the family of the accused. Now for the heartbreaking interview with Grace's mother and aunt. Stay tuned for the outcome of this case and the sentencing that was handed down to Kiara and Isaac. >> We didn't know she was dead. We found out in the Albuquerque Journal that >> we're just up to date with what the media is saying. We don't know what the truth is. We haven't seen anything real. >> Stuck out to me were the messages between him and the other suspect. through throughout the night before she gets there, when she gets there, and then kind of in the morning, there are several messages of them conspiring to to kill her. Um, according to both of them, uh, this was kind of one based off of, uh, an incident that, um, that suspect number two, um, describes is her suspect number two, uh, the girl describes that back when she was 14 that she got raped. >> Um, are you familiar with any of this backtory? I heard that she said that >> Excuse me. >> Grace was there. >> Grace Grace witnessed this or something. That's why she hated >> taking payments or something. >> Exactly. >> That's what they described to me. She said like I think she said 13 or 14 guys raped her, took her virginity and that's why she has uh ill feeling towards Grace for all this time is what both of them say. So it it and that that wasn't just the the sole motive that I was getting from both of them. They also described almost like a a cultlike thing that Isaac was part of. >> I mean, I guess I read about in the paper, but what? >> I don't know. We're still trying to make sense of it ourselves. Suspect number two, in talking with her, she she shed a little bit more light on it with going through his phone, I see some of the messages, and it's kind of probably what you read about in the paper that she would rank up and whatnot. But talking with her, uh, she described it as he told her that he's part of this organization that kills bad people. So, they're kind of like they're kind of like cops, but they kill people >> out of justice, >> vigilantes or something, >> right? So, and that according to her, he had told her that he had already killed 40 people. Like, all right, whatever. Um, but that this was supposed to be her first kill. So, kind of going back to all these messages that I'm going through with the phone with him in front of him, their messages of them um saying stuff like, "We'll we'll have to we'll have to find a way to clean up the mess. We're going to have to clean up the mess ASAP." um even some direct messages where he's like I want you to kill her so you can end her suffering by ending her happiness and he's saying stuff like uh I will and and none of this is verbatim. This is me calling off memory. Our our official reports is going to have screenshots of the messages and all that stuff. So don't quote me on any of this um word for word. >> Um but he's saying stuff like um like uh do it. it'll be your first one and uh you will uh I will fill out the report and send it to the black market so that you can get credit and get ranked up. So this is a whole another rabbit hole of >> right >> what is this that we are still trying to >> let's go to the black market then I guess how do you >> now >> now going and talk so that was talking with him and he he kind of for lack of better words he he [ __ ] me for a lot of these he tries to he tries to like for example the the we're going to have to clean up the bed type thing it's pretty obvious in their messages in the context of them that they're referring to killing your daughter and how are you going to clean up a mess. But I'm like, between every one of these messages, they're very obvious to me. I stopped and I I asked him, um, what does that mean? And he like for that one, he told me, um, yeah, uh, suspect number two had had, uh, defecated in the bed. He used different words. So that's what we're talking about mess. And I'm like, so I call him. I'm like, so you guys slept in a bed full of poop all night? He's like, yeah. And I'm like, okay. And then we go more and there's more messages of, "Yeah, but we'll have to clean up the mess ASAP." And I was like, "What about this? You said she's already pooped to bed at this point. Why are you talking like this is something in future tense?" And >> he was like, "Uh, I I don't know. I don't remember that." You know, so very very apparent line going on there. >> Anyways, that's how we we came to the charges for him. >> He would have loved Grace. She knew everybody. She was such a silly like friend. She was cool. She was like >> way cooler than me. >> Yeah. I keep seeing pictures of her like live, right? >> Yeah. Good. [snorts] >> They're all over my Facebook. I'm trying to show who this little girl was. Like she's the sweetheart. That's >> I I don't care if she was the worst person in the world. No one deserves what happened. >> Nobody deserves that. >> Nobody. But it's like you're not going to say any She was precious to us. [clears throat] >> I know. I have it. He knows. >> She's named after me. This my sister. We're best friends. And I can't even look her in the face. Like, >> you guys have other kids? >> Yes. I have three. She has one >> and they're raised like siblings. >> I can't give you any good answers of what to do from this point on, but what I the way I would look at things is I'm going to try and use this to fuel the remainder of my life. And I think you're already kind of going down that path. You're thinking of how you're going to make change. how are you going to prevent this from happening someone else's daughter? Those are good ways to focus your energy rather than you know >> rather grief is necessary absolutely but you know it's healthy to find other outlets. Um, and then paint it looking at the rest of your family too. You know, how are you? You guys, you have to be the strong ones for them because I'm sure everyone's shook in your whole family, right? [snorts] >> This is hitting everyone. >> Oh my god. >> The whole community. >> This whole city in this town for like 22 years. I know. >> Maria Delaro. I mean, me too. I've been in a service industry and just the amount of people that loved Grace and knew us. Every school has reached out to us. My house is full of flowers from people. I don't I mean >> the GoFundMe has been up for 24 hours and it's over it's like $15,000 like like that. I wish we could have had the support for Grace. The following week, Isaac's parents sit down with detectives at the Santa Fe police station for an interview. Right after this interview, we'll break down every charge against Kiara and Isaac and reveal the court's final verdict and sentences that were handed down. You won't want to miss justice being served. >> Then I then he called me back when he was scared and frantic. >> May I May? >> Yeah. >> So these are the earlier ones. >> Yeah. He's in the green message. >> I was going to be there for several hours. Okay. Call me Grace. She wants me gone for a little while. How'd that Okay. Call me and let me know. We talked to you about Kiara. We love you so much. What What he What had he said about Kiara at this point? >> He didn't say nothing about Kiara. Then he calls me back and he's freaking out cuz he went into the garage, saw Kiara killing Grace. Okay. So, so, so the the actual conversation of him saying >> then he calls >> that that was over the phone, not over a message. >> Yeah. And then he called me and he goes, "Mom." And I was like, "What?" And he was all frantic. And I was like, "I just witnessed something." And I was like, "Well, what did you witness?" Cuz I'm freaking out. I'm like, "What's going on? What happened? Somebody okay? You know, I'm questioning him." And he goes, "I just witnessed Kier Kiara killing Grace with the sword that I had just boughten her recently." >> So he saw he saw Kiara do it. >> Yes. >> He said he w he's he witnessed it. >> I heard that part. Yeah. >> He was like yelling. >> I said, "Call the cops. How come you didn't call the cops? Why do you call me?" In Santa Fe, New Mexico, the 2022 sword killing of Grace Jennings set two defendants on diverging paths. Both Kiara McCully and Isaac Apodaka were first booked on an open count of murder in the first degree and conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree. McCully initially faced an added tampering with evidence allegation, but after early hearings, she was bound over on murder in the first degree and conspiracy, and the tampering count fell away. Her case then detourred through competency. After an initial finding of incompetency and treatment, she was ruled competent in January 2023. 2 years later in February 2025, McCully took a deal guilty to aggravated seconddegree murder and conspiracy to commit firstdegree murder and now awaits sentencing facing up to 30 years because of the crime's brutality contingent on her testimony against Apodaka. Apodaka's track shifted at bindover. In January 2023, the court advanced accessory to murder in the first degree and conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree, not the original openc count murder charge. Trial settings moved more than once. Defense continuences and a statewide DNA testing backlog pushed dates from September 2024 to November 2024. Then in November 2024, Apadaka rejected a plea. Even after McCulli's February 2025 plea and agreement to testify, Apadaka still faces accessory to first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit firstdegree murder with no jury verdict or sentencing announced as of November 1st, 2025 when this true crime documentary was posted.
