two teen sisters impregnating one of them and was caught after he drove drunk with them in the car news 13's Analisa Paro has a preview of the trial and details on a new motion from the defense started looking into then 41-year-old Jeremy Guthrie a former employee with the Water Authority that's your friend yeah how old's your friend 18 that girl not 18 police arrested Guthrie that night accusing him of drinking and driving with six kids in the car police later charged him with saying he had a sexual relationship with a then 12-year-old in his car who got pregnant and had a miscarriage police say he also raped her twin sister he's facing 16 charges including nine counts of criminal sexual penetration of a minor he said to go to trial on Monday but a new motion filed by guth's defense attorney aims to separate charges that happened after the girls turned 13 according to the motion the state is introducing new evidence they say are Snapchat messages from Guthrie to the victim's twin sister after they had turned 13 the defense argues that should be a separate trial because it involves different dates locations and Witnesses a decision on the motion has not been filed anaisa Paro krq news3 in a separate case Guthrie is facing six counts of child abuse and a DWI charge after police say he drove drunk with minors in the car a trial date for that case is not yet scheduled the District Attorney's office is looking into allegations that a rape suspect is contacting his victim from behind bars that is what the grandmother of one of the victims is saying about 41-year-old Jeremy Guthrie news 13's anelisa Paro talked to that grandmother today she's here this evening with details well we have screenshots of messages the grandmother says Guthrie sent her twin granddaughters over Instagram from now it's possible someone else may be behind that account but all of this is still enough for detectives in the DA's office to look into when police arrested 41-year-old Jeremy Guthrie for driving drunk with six kids in the car on July 5th that was the first time the grandma of two of those kids says she learned about Guth three and then I got a call that they were all in the car uh there was six six of them and was with this guy and so I I had no clue she soon learned police charged Guthrie with raping one of her 13-year-old twin granddaughters the grandma says the girl was impregnated by Guthrie and suffered a miscarriage when she was just 12 years old makes me sick I'm livid to what he did to my granddaughters and he's just a very very sick person now the grandma claims Guthrie is messaging her granddaughters from MDC she first learned of the message on Monday night I was over where my one of my granddaughters was and she told my other granddaughter that he had contacted her she sent us these screenshots she says is Guthrie messaging one of her granddaughters he asked for money the grandma says she even asked her granddaughter to send this to see how far he'd go she told her granddaughter to write I ran away and asked him to pick her up he writes back quote and how am I supposed to do that when I'm in jail jail he's in jail how the heck is all this happening when he's in jail like that's just that's crazy through the granddaughter the grandma asks how he's messaging from jail Guthrie says he paid to use a guard's phone the grandma claims he also threatened her granddaughters she says the messages stopped when the granddaughter wrote police knew he was talking to them parents checked your kids social media accounts their gaming stuff uh you never I never thought in a million years that this would happen to my family and it is now we asked MDC how it would be possible for an inmate to do this a spokesperson says inmates do not have access to social media and they are looking into these accusations back to you anaisa thank you the grandmother says the girls know Guthrie after he reached out to them on Snapchat at least a year ago prosecutors believe there may be two other victims of Guthries he has a pre-trial detention hearing tomorrow to see whether he will stay behind bars until his trial a former New Mexican Water Authority employee convicted of raping a 12-year-old girl will spend nearly four decades in prison the judge handed down that sentence to Jeremy guthrey but not before he had the life something that no child should ever have to go through today the state pushed for the maximum sentence of over 12 years his defense asked for 12 years saying this happened during the covid-19 pandemic which was a hard time people who were already lonely were even lonlier um and could have um resorted to drinking um as as Mr G Guth looks like did um in this particular situation Co does make other individuals rape children alcohol is just an excuse alcohol doesn't make you rape a child guth's family pleaded for leniency his ex-wife who says she's a child sexual abuse Survivor and now a social worker asked for a lighter sentence for the sake of their son I know most people don't believe that Jeremy deserves a second chance but I sure hope that they believe that his son does before sentencing GTH three address the victim's family I want to apologize to the family and everyone um for all the problems that I caused that's was never my intention but uh I'm truly sorry so that was a
