Under the influence, gray sweater. Jeans, suspect refused to leave. PR did not acknowledge what apartment. Your disconnected line composition callback received voicemail as well. 406 >> On May 26th, 2025 at approximately 1:55 p.m. in the Sun Valley area of Los Angeles, California, what began as a routine emergency response turned into a devastating moment caught on camera. Police officers were racing with lights and sirens to a domestic violence call on the 6700 block of Riverton Avenue. As their cruiser sped eastbound down Saticoy Street heading toward Cleon Avenue, an unsuspecting driver in a silver Honda Accord began turning left onto Saticoy directly into the path of the oncoming unit. With no time to brake or swerve, the police cruiser slammed into the driver's side of the Honda in a violent high-speed collision. The driver of the Accord was 70-year-old Jose Hernandez. What happened next is both heart-stopping and tragic and it's all captured in chilling detail by the officers' dashcam and bodycams. From the sound of the impact to the chaotic moments immediately after, this footage takes you straight into the heart of the crash. Stay with us to see how it all unfolded second by second. Voice going on. >> You good? >> Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced 70-year-old Jose Hernandez dead. Though the LAPD initially reported him as 91, his family confirmed he was 70, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. The LAPD's traffic group and multidisciplinary collision investigation team launched a full investigation at the scene. Dashcam footage from the police cruiser is being reviewed to determine the exact sequence of events and evaluate the officer's speed and decision-making. Both officers involved sustained non-life-threatening injuries, were treated at the hospital, and released the same day. At this time, there's no official word on whether the LAPD has taken disciplinary action against the officers or faced any penalties related to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
