On October 24th, 2024, at approximately 9:38 p.m. in Garwood, New Jersey, police responded to reports of a disorderly female outside Garwood Lanes, located at 346 North Avenue. Upon arrival, officers encountered the woman, later identified as Lauren Mullins, who was attempting to leave the scene in an Uber while shouting obscenities at bystanders on the sidewalk. Officers instructed Mullins to provide identification and warned her that continued disorderly conduct would result in arrest. Since Lauren continued to be combative, she was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and resisting arrest without violence. She was eventually transported to the Garwood Police Department for further processing. Lauren, known online as the screaming banshee, has a long history of arrests, including multiple charges for aggravated assault on law enforcement and public intoxication across New Jersey. Most recently, on March 21st, 2025, she fatally struck 73-year-old Daniel O'Neal in Cambridge, Massachusetts, while driving under the influence and colliding with a police cruiser. She now faces DUI and vehicular homicide charges and is currently held at MCI Framingham. With such a pattern of escalating behavior, it's hard not to wonder, did the system fail to stop this before it turned deadly?
