[Music] on October 13th 2024 at approximately 6:50 p.m. a high stakes incident unfolded in Chicago's Oldtown neighborhood near the 300 block of West Division Street Chicago police were on the hunt for a vehicle after receiving a distressing 911 call reporting armed individuals inside what made this call Unique was that the caller herself was inside the suspect vehicle fearing for her safety and seeking police intervention the 911 operator quickly adapted to the situation switching to text communication to discreetly guide officers to the vehicle's location as officers searched doubt began to creep in was this a legitimate call or a wild goose chase the tension broke when they finally located the vehicle backed into a parking lot a female officer approached ordering the occupants to exit with their hands up but when the vehicle's occupants refused to comply and attempted to flee the situation escalated the suspect vehicle collided with a police car and in a split-second decision the female officer fired shots at the fleeing car however the shots were fired after the vehicle had passed her and critically the 9911 caller still inside was placed in jeopardy the adrenaline fueled decision left her fellow officers stunned with the officer herself admitting moments later I up this video includes body cam footage from multiple angles beginning with the harrowing 911 call it sheds that Forest one so now it's saying 134 West Division 1200 North LEL I just updated it caller there is still driving not sure if she's on division or Lal passing Planned Parenthood back back on one of the males asking about a bathroom are we on division CL Clan Parenthood is on Clark so do we pass it yet okay 1802 saying you got the eyes on anything on the street about a four-door sedan that just passed Clark Street about maybe 5 to 3 minutes ago wait wait wait wait wait s negative from 1802 stand uh we have update they are parked at aown main entrance um by 311 West Division where the is that at 8wn 8 Town 8 town I don't know you want me Google 3 311 West Division they are parked at a town main entrance I don't know what a toown is 8 toown is a boxing club it's off of North Avenue it's off of North [Music] Avenue's itthen yeah I'm Oldtown Arthur's old old 1834 info for the air caller said they are parked at atown main entrance at town uh is a boxing club squide where the [ __ ] are they they're not on 10434 yes um the caller is still on the phone our call is still on the phone with this person okay 311 West Division it's an old town so I don't see this car this is this is where is this car okay we should be coming up on it in a second yeah we should see 300 West Division this is a library 121 8 on North Avenue that's 310 two male black being forcing a male Hispanic off an elevator into a room male black all I I feel like there's a boxing gym on North Avenue you think so where is that that's on North Avenue yeah so unless it's in that parking lot right there I'm going to go check it out I think this is this is a false thing possibly I can follow All Leads until you can't Fu olda hey Sergeant okay so I Googled a town the only one I can think of is on North Avenue the t is already here and we're in this parking lot um across the street from the library because uh the library hold on get the out of the car don't move don't move get out of the car get out of the car now get out of the car everybody get out of the car get out of the car do not fing move get out of the car get the driver get out of [Music] found Vision found Vision all right all right all right yeah show me pointing incident I got the in did I sh by the police was that you fire calling it troll guys 3 westoll as you just witnessed from the perspective of the female officer who discharged her firearm adrenaline was clearly building as the officers search for the suspect vehicle from her point of view it's possible she believed the vehicle posed an immediate threat to another officer's safety however this is where situational awareness and the ability to remain calm under high stress circumstances are critical you can hear her acknowledge her mistake just before her body cam shuts off now we'll switch perspectives to another officer's body cam capturing the moment they made contact with the suspect vehicle pay close attention as the female officer chases after the far the female officer had to run after the suspect vehicle clearly showing she was not in any immediate danger the reactions of the other officers to the events that just unfolded speak volumes get incident unfold from officer 4's body cam from this perspective it appears the female officer wasn't paying attention to her Crossfire a mistake that could have potentially put another Officer in I hear shots fired by the police here's another perspective of the incident captured from officer 5's body cam pay close attention to the Expressions on the other officers faces after the female officer Fires at the fleeing suspect [Applause] vehicle during the traffic stop the occupants of the vehicle refused to comply with officer commands ultimately colliding with a responding police vehicle in response one officer discharged their firearm at the fleeing car which sped away but was later recovered in the 100 block of West North Avenue thankfully no officers were injured in the incident one person of interest was taken into custody and one officer was transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure a nearby resident described the chaotic scene as it unfolded it all happened so fast I heard shots ring out and jumped out of bed in a panic next thing I know a silver car came speeding down well Street dodging traffic like crazy it was wild about 30 seconds later police cars started chasing after it as for the incident the civilian office of police accountability has confirmed they are conducting an investigation as is standard procedure the officer involved
