3264 shots fired. Fire. On June 16th, 2023, at approximately 11:10 a.m. on Interstate 88 in Dwayneburg, New York, State Trooper Richard Albert clocked a Honda Odyssey, traveling at over 100 mph. But what started as a routine traffic stop instantly turned into chaos. As Trooper Albert approached the vehicle, 32-year-old Nelson Tro opened fire from the driver's window, striking the trooper in the shoulder. Bleeding but undeterred, Trooper Albert returned fire. Seconds later, the gunfire triggered a violent multi-vehicle crash when a semi-truck slammed into a pickup that had stopped to avoid the shootout. But the chaos wasn't over. Tro and his girlfriend, Alicia Ariel, tried to flee the scene. That's when the semi-truck driver rammed their vehicle to stop them. The suspects had no choice but to take off on foot. You won't believe how it ends. Every second of this incident is a reminder of how quickly a trooper's day can turn into a fight for survival. Heat up here. Heat. [Music] Heat. 3264. Shots fired. This is triggered by the sudden perception of mortal danger causing the body to flood with adrenaline. As a result, an officer's heart rate spikes, tunnel vision can set in auditory exclusion, loss of hearing may occur. >> Time may feel like it slows down or speeds up, and fine motor skills can diminish, making even simple tasks more difficult under stress. Psychologically, officers may experience hyperfocus on the threat, suppressing all non-essential thoughts or emotions. Their training often kicks in automatically with muscle memory guiding their actions. After the incident, many officers report emotional aftershocks such as anxiety, guilt, or replaying the moment repeatedly. These events can leave lasting effects and sometimes lead to post-traumatic stress, which is why mental health support and debriefings are essential following a shooting. >> 3D64, I need assistance.
